1. Essay On Healthy Living
Writing an essay on the topic of healthy living can be both challenging and rewarding. On one
hand, the subject is broad and encompasses various aspects of lifestyle, including diet, exercise,
mental well-being, and more. This diversity requires a comprehensive understanding and research
to present a well-rounded perspective.
To begin with, gathering reliable information on the latest health trends, scientific studies, and
expert opinions is crucial. This involves sifting through a plethora of sources, ranging from
academic articles to popular health magazines. Understanding the nuances of different diets,
exercise routines, and mental health practices is essential to provide readers with accurate and
up-to-date information.
Moreover, structuring the essay effectively is another hurdle. Balancing different aspects of
healthy living and creating a cohesive narrative can be challenging. One must carefully organize
the content to ensure a logical flow of ideas and information. Introducing the topic, developing
key points, and concluding with a strong takeaway requires skillful writing and a deep
understanding of the subject matter.
Addressing potential counterarguments and presenting a balanced view adds an additional layer
of complexity. While advocating for healthy living, acknowledging opposing perspectives and
providing well-reasoned counterpoints is crucial for a nuanced and persuasive essay.
In addition to content challenges, ensuring the essay is engaging and accessible to a wide
audience is important. Balancing scientific information with relatable examples and anecdotes
can be a delicate task. Striking the right tone that motivates and informs without being overly
preachy is essential to keep the readers' interest.
In conclusion, writing an essay on healthy living demands a combination of research skills,
critical thinking, and effective communication. Despite the challenges, the opportunity to
contribute valuable information that can positively impact readers' lives makes the effort
worthwhile.

2. Rural Afro-Colombia
Introduction technology as a life enhancing tool is on the rise in development
projects, and as people become more dependent on technology, exploring how culture
and technology intersect is increasingly important for the wellbeing of target
communities. Colombia is a significant point of departure in this exploration as this
country has experienced an influx of development programs implementing
information and communication technologies (ICTs) laptops, mobile tablets and
mobile phones as tools to enhance the livelihoods of people living in rural
communities. Of the 5 million people who identify as Afro Colombian (10% of the
population of Colombia), 1.2 million live in rural areas. The highest concentrations
of Afro Colombians live on or near the Pacific and Caribbean Coasts, and two thirds
of people living in rural communities live below the povertyline. Several development
projects being planned and implemented (Plan Vive Digital: Ministry of Technology;

Afro Colombian communities lack, such as economic sustainability, education,

4. Law Questions Essay
1) Since the injured plaintiff was not wearing a seatbelt, why is Ford being sued
for failing to test the seatbelt sleeve? In the case of Branham v. Ford Motor Co.,
the Plaintiff brought the case against Hale, the driver, and Ford because the
company failed to test the seat belt sleeve, even though he did not seriously pursue
the claim against Hale (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The case
against Ford was based on two product liability claims: one for not testing the seat
belt and the other a design defect claim related to the vehicles tendency to rollover
(Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). Branham alleged in his case that
Ford was negligent and strictly liable in failing to effectively test the... Show more

Ford s reasoning for dismissal of the negligence claim was that since Branham did not
prove the seat belt sleeve was in a defective condition unreasonably dangerous to its
user meant that it should have been dismissed as well. The court s decision to judge
on the handling and stability design defect claim portion (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy,
Shedd Morehead, 2012), this is true. 3) Is the consumer expectations test or the risk
utility test more favorable to manufacturers? Explain. In Branham v. Ford Motors
Co., the risk utility test is more favorable to the manufacturer. The consumer
expectations test is difficult to predict from a manufacturer s perspective because it is
vague (Tracy 2010). Under the risk utility test, a product is unreasonably dangerous
and defective if the danger associated with the use of the product outweighs the utility
of the product (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The consumer
expectations test is used to determine whether the product is negligently
manufactured or whether a warning on the product is defective. The courts noted that
the consumer expectations test was best suited for

The last part is a political statement about the effect of social pressures on

necessarily reflect the position of Cypress in this matter. The original letter from
Sister Gormley raised valid questions concerning the selection practices for our
board of directors. While the first part of the response letter does adequately redress
the original concerns, the other two parts are a highly personal stance concerning
morality and the role of social pressures on businesses. These types of personal
comments do not necessarily reflect the views of Cypress or its board of directors,
and take a strong position in response to concerns raised by current investors. This
position does have its merits, yet a letter to a group of
investors is not the correct forum to espouse such a position. Additionally, sending

investors should be addressed with an appropriate response outlining the current

questionable position and could damage our relationship with our

8. Morte d Arthur Essay
Morte d Arthur In the Medieval Period, knights dedicated their lives to following
the code of chivalry. In Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, a number of
characters performed chivalrous acts to achieve the status of an ideal knight. Their
characteristics of respect for women and courtesy for all, helpfulness to the weak,
honor, and skill in battle made the characters King Arthur, King Pellinore, and Sir
Gryfflette examples of a what knights strove to be like in Medieval society. Because
of the examples ofchivalry, Le Morted Arthur showed what a knightdesired to be, so
he could improve theworld in which he lived. Respect for women and courtesy were

This was considerate behavior because even though he was angry, he was polite
and allowed them to leave safely. The warning also showed his courtesy because
he could have not told them in anticipation of their return in order to kill them
because of their disagreement. These two examples of King Arthur s respect for
the Lady of the Lake and the Roman ambassadors made him a model knight since
he was obeying the code of chivalry. In addition to being courteous, being helpful to
the weak was another aspect of chivalry portrayed through characters in the story.
First, Arthur tried to be helpful to Merlin when he was being chased by ruffians.
Arthur chased them away while riding his horse. Merlin was not in real danger
because of his magical powers, but the intent of Arthur was to help someone who
needed because he thought Merlin s powers might have failed him. Another
example of this chivalrous quality was illustrated during the battle between King
Pellinore and Sir Gryfflette. Pellinore knocked Gryfflette off his horse and, swiftly
ran over to him and loosened his armor. He then, lifted him gently onto his horse
(page 74). Sir Gryfflette was weak, and he was just knighted that day, so Pellinore
did the chivalrous action and helped him. Being helpful to the weak was a quality
that all the knights were trying to develop, and King Arthur and King Pellinore
showed this attribute in their actions with Merlin and
9. Romanticism In Oliver Twist
Introduction:
In mid 19th century England, realistic literature came as a response to the preceding
romantic period. The romantic period was known to emphasize the experiences of
the individual and was regarded as a highly aesthetic period. It was related with the
movement of sensibility or sentimentalism, which stressed the importance of
emotions and feelings of sympathy (Kitson 328 329). Contrarily, realism during the
Victorian age aimed to address economic and social issues in society by depicting
the struggles in the developing society as accurately as possible (Redd).
Consequently, in the 1830s, when Charles Dickens was writing Oliver Twist, it is
justifiable that elements of both realism and sentimentalism can be found in the
novel. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most notably, Dickens depiction of London (in particular the workhouses and
other social institutions) and his criminal characters have a very prominent
realistic effect. However before going into detail about the realistic setting and
characters, it would be beneficial to take a look at Dickens preface for Oliver
Twist. In his preface for Oliver Twist, Dickens justifies his reasons for writing
about the criminals of London; he had the impression that real thieves and
pickpockets were not portrayed correctly in literature during that time. For that
reason, he felt that it was necessary to show these crooks as they really were, for
ever skulking uneasily through the dirtiest paths of life (7). He also believed that
doing this would be a service to society , and that he did it as best as [he] could .
He explains that he won t be writing about appealing and pleasant situations; ...no
merry makings in the snuggest of all possibly caverns, none of the attractions of
dress, no embroidery, no lace... (8). In essence, this preface foreshadows the
realistic elements in the novel by telling the readers where to look. Clearly the
characters and setting will be portrayed as honestly and truthfully as possible,
without overlooking even one hole in the Dodger s coat, or one scrap of curl paper
in Nancy s dishevelled hair (9) and describing the cold wet shelterless midnight
streets of London; the foul and frowsy dens, where vice is closely packed and lacks

10. The Struggle In Kizzy Bellamy And Diamond
Realistic Fiction is as close to real life as life itself. The point of view the writer
plans to write in are first and third person omniscient. The narrator voice in third
person omniscient reveals the writer knows the thoughts and feelings of each
character. The audience is able to read and know each character objectively without
the influences of the narrator s personal feelings. Writing in the third person
omniscient takes skills, time and patients and rewrites before the writer has mastered
an omniscient voice.
The title, in fact, is symbolic of the different struggles Kizzy Bellamy and Diamond
Akata experience in their life. Some of Diamond s struggles are beyond her control.
For instance from the age of four to adulthood, her father s best friend took
advantage of her innocent child life nature. This man made sin comfortable in Kizzy

Kizzy wants a relationship with her father. However, Kizzy s human kindness
towards Diamond teaches her forgiveness, first herself than her abuser. But Kizzy
does not know anything about Diamond s abuse. Diamond s sexual appetite has
haunted her life from the young age of seven. Rooted deep in Diamond s heart are
the voices of her grandparent s reminding her to preserve the family culture and
values? She fights a good fight against the difficult sexual taste embedded in her
mind. Diamond s life is difficult. She had repeated sex with a teenage boy who
abuses her. Her low self esteem made her worthless. She likes women but continue
to remind herself, I am a Christian, God made me a woman. I believe in deities,
spirits, ancestors worship. I celebrate Christmas and Easter because these two holiday

11. Jealousy In Ray Bradbury s All Summer In A Day
Rain pours outside like an overflowing canteen waiting to be tipped over. Thunder
crackles like fireworks on the 4th of July. And Margot could not be more despondent.
The only thing keeping her awake at night is the fact that the sun will come out
tomorrow, to experience it s true glory, for the first time on the planetVenus.
Unfortunately, she was locked in a closet by the envious bullies that were jealous of
her superior experiences. In the story All Summer In a Day by Ray Bradbury, the
main character, Margot, is upset because of the constant rain on the planet Venus, and
the persistent torments by the envious bullies due to the jealousy that the children
feel about her experiences. Thesis goes here.

This is clearly evident when Bradbury writes, And once, a month ago, she had
refused to shower in the school shower rooms, had clutched her hands to her ears
and over her head, screaming how the water mustn t touch her head. (Bradbury,
1954). She hates the rain so much that the mere thought of showering is scary. Of
course, you could argue that she just doesn t like water, but the author states, And
they, they had been on Venus all their lives, and they had been only two years old
when last the sun came out and had long since forgotten the color and heat of it and
the way it really was. (Bradbury, 1954). This shows that the only thing she wants is
the sun, and the rain is what she despises because of that. In effect, what these 4
quotes show is that Margot is depressed because of the 7 year long rain, and the
continuous oppression by the other
12. Racial Discrimination And Diversity In Division I Football
Over the years, the United States has been considered a melting pot of nationalities
and ethnicities, but from the beginning, the white race has perceived themselves as
a superior race, enforcing their power over other races through slavery and racial
segregation. Today, we believe that the United States has made leaps and bounds
toward total racial equality. We see evidence of this in the workplace, schools, and
athletics, but there are still some problems that need to be addressed. Therefore, I
am writing to you to inform you as NCAA president of the standing of the NCAA
and its diversity of head coaches in Division Ifootball. This memo seeks to explore
the idea that minorities are not fairly represented or retained in Collegiate level head
coaching positions. I will demonstrate this by showing racial demographics, head
coach position retention, assistant coach to head coach retention studies, football
position correlation to coaching positions, and social aspects.
Racial Demographics
The NCAA has made noticeable progress toward racial equality in the ratio of
black to white players in Division I football. In 2008, black athletes only made up
about 36 percent of the student athlete population in Division I football, while in
the 2017 season, 39 percent of football players are black (NCAA). If you do not
include historically black colleges and universities, you see that blacks take over
whites from 46 percent on 2008 to 52 percent in 2017. All demographic data is from

Abstract
With improvements in capacity and performance and a decrease in cost, FPGAs have
become a viable solution for making custom chips and programmable DSP devices.
This paper presents an efficient implementation of Finite Impulse Response Filter
(FIR) using Distributed Arithmetic (DA) architecture based on FPGA with the help
of xilinx system generator software. Here, the multipliers in FIR filter are replaced
with multiplierless DA based technique to remove high frequency
Electrocardiogram(EMG) noise from ECG signal. As digital filters plays very
significant role in the analysis of the low frequency components in
Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. The ECG is susceptible to noise and it is
essential to remove the noise in order to support any decision making for specialist
and automatic heart disorder diagnosis systems. We purposed that the signals under
experiment has been added with muscle noise and after applying different FIR
method, the signals according to signal noise ratio (SNR) and MSE(mean square
error) are evaluated. It introduces an effective technique for the denoising of ECG
signals corrupted by High frequency muscles contraction noise. The performances of
the system were evaluated using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
University and Beth Israel Hospital (MIT BIH) database. Muscle noise is taken
from MIT BIH noise stress database .Simulation results shows that High frequency
EMG noise from ECG was removed effectively by using FIR low pass filter.
14. The Aesthetics Of The Sublime
The Aesthetics of the Sublime in Abstract Expressionism
In the period between 14 March and 7 June 2015, the institution of the Royal
Academy of Arts, based in the heart of London, takes an artistic importance even
more significant than usual thanks to the organization of the exhibition dedicated to
the painter Richard Diebenkorn, who works in America in the mid twentieth century.
The first thing to emphasize about this event is that, to the European audience, the
name of the artist may seem unfamiliar. Indeed, his success has been mainly limited
to the US context. Moreover, it is significant that this three room show is the first
opportunity for the UK audience to approach the art of Diebenkorn in more than
twenty years. Thus, the exposition becomes not only an opportunity to see the works
of art but also the instrument by which the visitor can take a journey through the
different artistic phases that have characterized the life of the painter. Hence, while
the first part of the display includes the initial experiments with abstraction, in the
second Diebenkorn tries to find the way to express himself through the figurative art.
In the third room, the viewer might be surprised to see that the development of the
artist is actually his return to the beginning. In fact, even if differently compared to
the early stage, in his later works, the creator returns to the Abstract Expressionism.
Therefore, using a more geometric style given by vertical,
15. Bell Jar Disconnection
It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in
mirrors, photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as
others see them, people often get confused and end up detaching themselves from
reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright, young woman with an interest in poetry
and writing. However, after the death of her father, she developed neurosis and
attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was unsuccessful. She
uses her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel, published
two weeks before her successful suicide. The Bell Jarhighlights the concept of
detachment through the main character, Esther, who feels a disconnection from
herself. As she struggles to recognize herself and find a path for her future, she
slowly descends into madness. Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of
mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that individuals often have difficulty
accepting themselves.
Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is
especially true throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main
character explains a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

her mirror image to her inner image, even when she seems to look normal: Then
my ears went funny, and I noticed a big, smudgy eyed Chinese woman staring
idiotically into my face. It was only me, of course, I was appalled to see how
wrinkled and used up I looked (Plath 18). Esther doesn t immediately recognize
herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to believe she is
not alone in the elevator. Later in the novel, after her signs of depression have began
to emerge, she starts to cry during a magazine photoshoot. Once she stops crying and
attempts to apply makeup to her fatigued
16. Ventricular Serptal Syndrome
A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a defect due to an abnormal connection between
the lower chambers of the heart. A heart has four chambers. There are left and right
upper chambers, which are called an atrium, and left and right lower chambers, called
a ventricle. The ventricular septal defect is a hole that occurs between the left and
right pumping chambers of the heart.
This ventricular defect occurs because of problems in the early development of the
heart. There is no clear cause of a ventricular septal defect but most doctors think that
genetics play a role. It s a very common defect and it s common for this defect to
come with other congenital heart defects. It happens during fetal development, when

Small defects usually cause none to few problems. Medium and large defects can
cause more severe problems. These range from mild to life threatening complications.
Pulmonary hypertension can last for years or a lifetime. It is a type of high blood
pressure that affects arteries in the lungs and heart. It increases the blood flow to the
lungs, affecting the lung arteries, which can cause them to become permanently
damaged. This complication can cause the reversal of blood flow through the hole,
which is Eisenmenger syndrome. Endocarditis is another complication that could
come about, but it is less common and occurs more in adults. It is an infection of the
heart s inner lining, causing inflammation of the heart valve. This is only short term,
so it resolves within days or weeks. Lastly, other heart problems include abnormal
heart rhythms and valve
17. Synoptic Gospels Figurative Language Analysis
The three synoptic Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke each recount the good news
about Jesus. The authors of the aforementioned literature describe the same events as
if they had observed all of them personally and were reporting what they saw at the
time. These authors were very descriptive in their literature as they described Jesus
teaching (Harris, 2014). When reading the Gospels, the first feature which strikes
the reader is the way in which Jesus adapted His teaching to the type of hearer, with
whom He was dealing (n.d., Linderer). According to Matthew and Mark, Jesus
consistently taught in a figurative language. Figurative language can be described
as a figure of speech, language that compares, exaggerates, or means something
other than what it first appears to mean. Nevertheless, the signature style Jesus
used for teaching is the parable. A parable is similar to figurative language as it is
defined as placing beside or a comparison (Harris, 2014). In addition, it takes the
form of a brief fictional narrative, generally comparing some familiar object or
practice to the dawning Kingdom of God. An example of this Jesus comparing God s
Kingdom to the unexpected discovery of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aphorisms are quotable statements that Jesus audiences would remember. An
example of this form of teaching would be when God said it is easier for a camel
to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
(Harris, 2014). It is sufficient to note that the teaching of Jesus was never dull and
that the teaching ministry was a means to an end. No one can read the gospels
without being impressed by the artistic character of Jesus teaching. He made
frequent use of metaphors, and constant use of similes, which were often of the most
creative kind. There is no doubt that his forms of teaching were relatively easy to
remember, caused people to think and were intended to be recalled (n.d.,

Dear Minister Sushri Uma Bharti,
My name is Vynateya Purimetla, and I am an eighth grader currently attending East
Hills Middle School, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Presently, we are in a
hydrogeology unit and we have been researching global water crises around the
world and the effects they have on people who inhabit those regions. I am writing this
letter to address the issues of inadequate sanitation, untreated sewage in groundwater,
and holy rivers being polluted due to a host of reasons. These problems are occurring
in both rural and urban areas, and are affecting more than 80% of the Indian
population who depend on water polluted with untreated sewage, nitrate, and
agricultural runoff for basic survival needs, (The Huffington Post). As the leader of
the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development Ganga Rejuvenation, I hope
that some of the solutions outlined in this letter could be helpful to you in solving
India s water crisis.
A problem that affects the daily life of more than a hundred million people is
inadequate sanitation and a lack of proper sanitation facilities. For example, only
87% of Indians in urban areas have access to a sanitized latrine, while only 33% of
Indians in rural areas have access to a toilet, (The Guardian). This statistic is
alarming, as it increases the susceptibility to diseases such as

Jenkins. I have never been to a play at the Mixed Blood Theatre, so I was very
excited to go and see this play. This play has been mentioned a lot lately by some
of my theatre professors, and they said it would be very interesting. They also
mentioned to not worry about the bunny too much, but I did. I am very glad I got
to see this unique play with its many interesting views. The beginning of the play
was very interesting in several ways. Firstly, the choice of dialect took me surprise
because of its vulgar nature. I personally enjoyed the use of speech because I find
it interesting when people use words freely when they are normally looked down
upon. The music that was played gave made another strong impression on me. The
title of the song was Bonfire by Childish Gambino, and it set a very interesting
mood. It definitely took me by surprise and I did not know how to react in that
situation. I just stared with my mouth open and tried to figure out why that song was
being played. Another thing that I found interesting was when the actors put makeup
and different clothes on in front of us. Seeing the actors start changing into new
characters right in front of me made me very intrigued about how people can break
the socially constructed ideas of how theatreworks.
The middle of the play made me confused for a good chunk of the time. The bunny
was beyond creepy and I tried to understand what its
21. Analysis Of The Movie Hundred Dollar Baby
Men generally have the gender role to be the care takers, the fighters, and ultimately
the manliest man possible, while women have been thought to be weak and helpless
at the sight of danger. In the 2006 episode Hundred Dollar Baby of the TV show It s
Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the male stereotype promotes males as fighters, but
also disproves the general stereotype when some men run away from a fight. Also,
the femalestereotype is challenged when a woman wants to fight her own battles
instead of a mandoing it for her. Stereotypically, males typically assume they are
better fighters than women and while fighting, males seem drunk and tend to show
off their bodies by having their shirts off. Right off of the bat, the male... Show more

This goes against the stereotypical male because males generally stay and fight,
especially when saving a woman is involved.
The next day, Mac and Dennis learn of an underground fighting ring and convince
Charlie that he is the strongest man they know and he would be a great fighter.
Once again, the show goes against the male stereotype by having Dennis and Mac
make Charlie fight in their place so they can make money betting. The guys begin
to practice fighting as long as they are explicitly drunk, suggesting that sober males
would lose in a fight or would not fight at all. This proposes that they do not
believe they could win a fight or be in one if they were sober, so all three of them
need to be drunk to make it a great fight. Mac, Dennis, and Charlie all agree that the
best way to be a high quality fighter and trainer is to be intoxicated while in action.
The male characters also emphasize that a male must have his shirt off to show off
his muscular body while fighting, just like Rocky and Terminator because they
never wore a shirt when they were training. Charlotte Jiourosek had said that as the
athletic body type grew larger, so did the build of stars like Rocky and Terminator.
Just like Rocky and Terminator, today s men look as if they are from another planet
and would have been distasteful before today s age (233 4). In order for men to seem

When I reached it, I was so used to the low light setting that when I got to this new

Obituary
Robert Bruce Anthony Brownell was born to loving and supportive parents, Kevin
Brownell and Bonnie Piccolo in Hartford, CT on April 29th 1987. Rob was a
troubled and lonely child until just before high school when he finally made some
friends. He and his friends were preoccupied with living an enjoyable but careless
lifestyle and considered school merely as an unavoidable annoyance. After graduating
from Avon High Schoolin 2005 he continued to spend many years engaging in
debauchery with his friends. Sometime around 2008, Rob began to discover a love
of philosophy which encouraged him to think more critically of himself and those he
surrounded himself with. This discovery also led to a love of reading and learning,
and Rob returned to school to study philosophy.
Financial issues often got in the way of achieving his goals, most notably a leg
injury that left him in a considerable amount of debt and caused him to leave his
school in Olympia, Washington to return to Connecticut to live with his parents. The
debt made him unable to transfer to finish his degree so he worked and saved for 3
years to pay it all off, and finally returned to school.
Over the years, Rob slowly got over a nagging feeling of loneliness whenever he
was by himself, and eventually became very comfortable in time spent alone. Rob
never got to achieve his dream of getting a Bachelor s degree in philosophy, going to
law school, and working for the ACLU, but he consistently strived to achieve

27. A Comparison Of The Nike Of Samothrace
The Nike of Samothrace is a freestanding statue of a winged, female body dating
back to 190 BCE. The entire sculpture stands approximately 18 feet tall on a
pedestal that is shaped very similarly to the front section of a ship. Her body
measures around 9 feet while the smaller base she is connected to measures around
1 foot in height. The larger, disconnected, piece that mimics front section of a ship is
around 6 feet tall. Made of a very highly prized material in ancient Greece, the Nikeof
Samothraceis made solely from Parian marble, which is white in color. The statue
has no arms and no head and looks as if she is preparing to land on the pedestal
below her as it is moving forward. She wears a long gown that reaches all the way to
her feet with her wings stretched out in the back. This sculptor gave great attention to
the entire piece and to the gracefulness of her movements and beauty of her body.
Through intricate work and important textures, The Nike of Samothrace displays
great power to Greece.
This statue is in decent condition given its age but does still have a sufficient
amount of damage. We can clearly see that both the right and left arms have been
broken off of the body as well as the head. This gives the location of where the arms
and head should be a much rougher texture, but that texture was not intentional when
the piece was created. The larger base that she is standing on is in much worse
condition. It has many cracks and breaks where it has had to be

30. Thrombin Research Paper
Thrombin is a naturally occurring protein that is present in the blood of humans and
animals. The main function of thrombin is as an intermediate step during hemostasis,
which slows bleeding by forming blood clots. Thrombin acts as an enzyme during an
injury, converting fibrinogen to fibrin, which then causes bloodclots to form. Due to
its properties, thrombin s application to the medical field includes topical surgery in
the case of minor injuries as well as various other medical procedures such as
neurosurgical operations. Apart from applications in the medical field, thrombin also
plays significant roles by directly interacting with endothelial cells throughout the
body. The precursor to thrombin is prothrombin, an inactivated proteinproduced in the
liver. Upon injury prothrombin converts to thrombin with the purpose of catalyzing
the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin. The process changes the blood plasma soluble
fibrinogen to fibrin, which is not plasma soluble. In order to do this the interaction
removes two peptide chains from the ends of fibrinogen. Once this reaction is
complete fibrin will begin to form a blood clot around the site of injury. While the
interaction between fibrinogen is important it is not the only major... Show more

A common use is for minor wounds, which are too small to mend by other standard

Despondently Ever After... In the familiar more traditional version, Cinderella is a
poor maid girl that, with the help of fairy godmother, gets a chance to meet prince
charming. They fall in love, get married, and live happily ever after, and then what?
What is a happily ever after? Is this even a realistic thought? In the dark comedic
poem Cinderella, Anne Sexton forces the reader to examine this question. Utilizing
literary devices such as tone, imagery, and style, Sexton encourages the reader to
think about how silly and unlikely a fairy tale ending actually is. Sexton s take on the
story Cinderella is not based off of the well renowned Disney version, but rather ...

The prince has every girl in the kingdom try on the slipper. Once the prince arrived
at Cinderella s house her two stepsisters immediately did whatever they needed to
do to get their feet to fit in the slipper. The first one cut off her toe, and the second
cut off her heel. When Cinderella came out, because it was her slipper, her foot
slipped right in. On the day of the wedding the two stepsisters came and tried to
benefit from Cinderella s good fortune, but pigeons came and pecked their eyes
out, punishing them to be blind for the rest of their lives for the malicious way
they treated Cinderella. We assume that Cinderella and the prince marry, and of
course, lived happily ever after. From the start of the poem Sexton sets a sardonic or
caustic tone saying, You always read about it, implying that as an audience we
always assume this is how it happens. She then continues by listing off rags to riches
stories. She mentions the plumber, nursemaid, milkman, and charwomen, all of
whom, in some unlikely circumstance go from poor to wealthy. Though we know
the chances that these occurrences will actually happen are one in a million,
everyone is still searching for the happy ending. Sexton continues to convey her
cynical ideas when she says Next came the ball, as you all know and That s the way

Part I: Short Essay Format
Question #1, American attitudes toward our culture can be paradoxical The Gilded
Age or Imperialism expansion examine the conflicting values that America held for
each.
The gilded age was a period in history that caused a vast transformation due to the
increase of American industrialization. Values and attitudes toward The Gilded Age
varied.
The poor workers often saw the changed caused by the Gilded Age as corrupt,
where the rich business men looked at it as a positive change. The poor laborers in
the gilded age often viewed the change that occurred during the era as a negative
one. The fact that working conditions for laborers were poor was no secret. A
passage from Upton Sinclair s The Jungle depicts these conditions of an old man
stating, He worked in a place where his feet were soaked in chemicals and it was
not long before the chemicals had eaten through his boots. Then sores began to
break out on his feet and grew worse and worse. In the end of this story the man
continued to work until he died because he needed to take care of his family. This
alone would tend to develop an attitude of negativity by poor immigrants and
laborers toward changes made by the gilded. For more proof one can find various
examples of strikes and civil unrest by workers usually against business owners and
police. This too is evidence that the poor laborers of the time were unhappy with their
situation.

critics of technological capitalism. In Michel Foucault s, Power/Knowledge he goes
over different types of power and how they are interpreted.
Debord was a situationist international, which meant creating situations or creating
situations. Referring to the several theses in Debord s novel I can say that the
society of the spectacle ...is not a collection of images; rather, it is a social
relationship between people that is mediated by images (Derbord, 12). This shows

Consumable survival must increase, in fact, because it continues to enshrine
deprivation. The reason there is nothing beyond augmented survival, and no end to
its growth, is that survival itself belongs to the realm of dispossession: it may gild
poverty, but it cannot transcend it (Debord, 30). This explains that the people are
consumers of illusions; it blindsides the people from reality and only allows them to
only be aware of what society or social media wants them to know.
In Michel Foucault s, Power/ Knowledge , there are two chapters titled Truth and
Power and The Eye of the Power . Foucault s conception of power is that power is
everywhere. Everyone has power and has the ability to make use of their power,
but often times citizens don t make use of their power. It seems that they are in
fear of those who enforce their power already, which prevents them to make use of
their power. An everyday individual sees power to be in the hands of who the
people have chosen . We should not always think about power as the private property
of government or state, but rather as an equal common ground for all of those who
share the land. It is not the state that doesn t matter, but the power is bigger than the
state; although the state has power, it does not have all power. A

Due in large part to the advancements in ICT, the world we live in has become one
large sprawling community. Through the use of the Internet and various
communication tools such as online exchange programs, students can learn about the
different cultures which help them draw parallels to their counterpart students located
around the world. As Kenneth Carano and Michael Berson argue in their article on
Geographic literacy and cultural awareness
39. Personal Note On The Car Ride Home
The car ride home seems to be forever. I miss my mother a lot,and want to tell her
about my weekend experience.
Little does she know I m going to be recording her.
I arrive home and start to record. I hear the sound of a lawn mower, and the radio just
another normal day in the neighborhood.
Hi Mom! I walk into the family room just to see my two dogs, as well as my mother
whom s sitting down. Except she s typing on the computer. The computer is seeming
to drown out my words. A few seconds later my mother finally gives a response.
Hi! How are you? Good! How are you? Good. she replies in a upbeat tone. How was
your weekend? she asks. Good how was you res? Wonderful...wonderful just I
wasn t home very much. What did you guys do? my mom asks shortly after stating
how wonderful her weekend was. Uh... we went climbing. Climbing where? Via
Ferrata. What s that? It s uh... a place in like Kentucky. Is it like... like a uh... the
woods or something then or?, my mom asks I can tell she s nervous about
something. Due to the solemn fact that she s sticking her fingers in her mouth. No it
s like the Grand Canyon except you climb. Oh! Okay Wow. Was it hard? Uh... yeah
sorta. Was it cold out? Uh huh.
40. Conception Of Law
In what sense and to what extent do Chinese traditional conceptions of law
facilitate or hamper legal development, especially the establishment of a rule of
law, in contemporary China? Introduction and meaning of the rule of law This
research essay addresses the issue of legal development regarding the establishment
of the rule of law in contemporary China by championing the idea that Chinese
traditional conceptions of law have been hampering such legal development. For
the purpose of this essay, the rule of law is a procedural device which represents the
supremacy of law over every man, and derives governmental powers limited by the
law in order to protect its citizens from the arbitrary and capricious exercise of abuse
of authority. It is a Western concept that should apply automatically to all, cover all
areas of life, and have judicial enforceability without any interference from other
social institutions related to tradition or politics. In determining how Chinese
traditional conceptions of law hamper the development of the rule of law, we
examine the degree of inconsistency between these traditional conceptions and the
fundamental values of the rule of law. It is worthwhile to initially explore the
fundamental notions of legal development... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The power of the Emperor was stressed and expressed by all means, and this was
exemplified through the building style in the Forbidden City which expressed the
dignity of the Emperor. The Forbidden City was built according to the highest
standard in terms of the height, scale, colour, and even the number and the species of
the animals on the roofs. No other buildings, following the same or higher standards,
were permitted to be built in any other place in the country. The atmosphere in the
Forbidden City naturally makes you just want to bend down on your knees before the
41. Monocular Cues
Everyday we see how the world around us is constantly changing. But how do our
eyes see the world three dimensionally? Simple, our eyes us binocular and
monocular cues that we are able to perceive depth. Binocular cues requires both of
our eyes, while monocular cues only require one. An example of binocular cues
would be binocular disparity, basically referring to the two different views you get
of the world from each eye. If you were to cover up your left eye, you would get a
slightly different image than if you were to cover your right eyes. Looking at the
photo below, you could simply use monocular cues to perceive depth. Using
interposition, you would notice that the tree, the bench and the flowers are all in front
of the building. Therefore,
42. Analysis Of Leslie Bricusse s Feeling Good
An anthem of triumph, Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse s Feeling Good, has
traversed the generations with its inspirational and timeless lyrics. Since its debut in
the 1960s musical The Roar of the Greasepaint The Smell of the Crowd, the song
Feeling Good has been covered by dozens of notable artists. Among them are Nina
Simoneand Avicii featuring the vocals of Audra Mae. The song originates from a
scene in the musical sung by the character The Negro after he wins the game [of
life] in spite of the abuse and racism he experiences at the hands of the musical s
main characters. In the same year of its Broadway premiere, Nina Simone recorded
her own version of the song for her album I Put a Spell on You. Simone s iconic

Like Grant, Simone uses vibrato throughout the song. However, while Grant has a
steadily low pitch, Simone has an almost magical voice that manages to flawlessly
fluctuate between both high and low pitches throughout the song. It is this technique
that gives the song a strong emotional texture. Where Grant s voice sounded
desperately triumphant over hardships, Simone s sounds eagerly hopeful for a bright
new future. Simone makes the song her own even more with her dynamic techniques.
Unlike Grant who built up a crescendo throughout the song, Simone keeps a
relatively steady volume until the climax when she concludes the song powerfully
loud. Another way that Grant and Simone s versions differ is the way the timbre is
altered by their accompaniments. Simone has a typical jazz band accompanying her
that is very heavy in the brass department with its trumpet, trombone, and tuba. It
also is heavy with piano and a little bit of drums that all come together to create a
bright and energetic tone that helps one feel empowered just by hearing the song.
In one of the song s more recent covers, American singer Audra Mae has a steadily
high pitch in contrast to Grant s bass range and Simone s both low and high range
vocals. Nevertheless, Audra Mae s wavering voice pays a beautiful homage to both
Grant and Simone s versions of the song. However, it s the techno accompaniment
performed by Swedish DJ Avicii that truly gives the song

44. The Power Of Literacy
It is not enough to simply teach children to read; we have to give them something
worth reading. Something that will stretch their imaginations something that will
help them make sense of their own lives and encourage them to reach out toward
people whose lives are quite different from their own. Katherine Patterson. Literacyis
a right. It is implicit in the right to education. It is recognized as a right, explicitly for
both children and adults, in certain international conventions. Literacy is the ability to
read and write, and also refers to having enough readingand writingability to function
in society. People who cannot read and write are called illiterate. People are called
functionally illiterate if they cannot read or write well enough to do activities that
are common in social settings they encounter. Such activities may include
employment, schoolwork, voting, or worship. The power of literacy is something
that can change the world. How far has literacy come since the beginning and what
is its history; what are the causes of a lower literacy rate; what effects can lower
literacy rates have; what about higher rates; what are some ways to improve the
literacy rates and; what are some of the benefits to a higher literacy rate?
Literacy has a long and detailed history. The earliest examples of pictorial written
communication date back to 3500 B.C. (Piechota). In the centuries after the invention
of written communication, only a small part of human society
