Example Of An Analytical Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Example of an Analytical Essay" can be quite challenging, as it
requires a careful balance between analysis and explanation. The difficulty lies in effectively
conveying the process of analyzing a particular subject while providing a clear and insightful
example. Crafting a coherent and well-structured essay involves delving into the intricacies of
the chosen example, dissecting its components, and presenting a logical argument that supports
the analysis.
To begin with, identifying a suitable example that aligns with the analytical approach is a crucial
step. Once a relevant example is chosen, the writer must delve into a thorough analysis, breaking
down the elements that contribute to its significance. This involves critically examining various
aspects, such as themes, symbolism, and underlying messages, and connecting them to the
broader context.
Creating a compelling thesis statement is another hurdle, as it needs to encapsulate the essence of
the analysis while providing a roadmap for the reader. The body of the essay requires a careful
organization of ideas, ensuring a smooth transition between paragraphs and maintaining a
coherent flow of thought. Providing evidence to support the analysis is essential, and selecting
appropriate quotes or examples requires a keen understanding of the subject matter.
Moreover, striking the right balance between analysis and explanation is pivotal. Too much
analysis without sufficient explanation may alienate the reader, while excessive explanation
without insightful analysis may result in a superficial essay. Achieving this balance is an art that
demands a deep understanding of the subject and effective communication skills.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Example of an Analytical Essay" is a complex task
that involves meticulous planning, thoughtful analysis, and effective communication. It requires
the writer to navigate through the nuances of the chosen example, present a compelling
argument, and maintain a harmonious balance between analysis and explanation.

A Brief Note On Classical Conditioning And Fear
Classical Conditioning and Fear
Introduction
Fear is common in humans as well as in animals. Species that are thinking and
learning have been observed to respond to fear especially when they are subjected to
something that caused them pain and trauma, which will make them behave to
prevent the exact or related thing/event. Learning how fear accumulates and affects
an individual has taken the interests of many studies. There are research conducted to
examine how species react to pain and how they behave when they encounter the
stimulus again. In studying fear, Pavlovian fear conditioning has been an important
and well used model. It has been used in investigating rats in the laboratories and
how they behave on different stimuli and how they learn and remember each
encounter. In one of the research works done to investigate fear in rats, Maren
(2008) describes the Pavlovian fear conditioning in examining how the hippocampus
and amygdala have been behaving in transgenic mouse models. The essence of these
two parts of the brain, however, has not been proved in contexts and discrete use for
fear conditioning. The recent work has been considered as unclear whether if the
hippocampus and the amygdala play an important role in fear learning, specifically in
terms of anatomical segregation of cue and context conditioning. There are also other
non associative factors that affected the investigation and the results of the
performance of fear responses, thus, more research works are
Teenage Maturity In Adulthood
We all love it when we see a teen going out of there way to help someone,we love it
because this teen just has something about themselves that stands out from other
teens. It almost seems like this kid is an adult, but that s not right it s just that this
kid is very mature. We all love it when someone is mature especially when this
someone is a teen because it always seems like teens are lacking in all common
sense. As teens are struggling to figure out who they are, they are learning about
maturity, and how it affects them. Parents are watching their teens struggle to
discover their path, they are wondering why this generation is so behind and lacks
the early signs of maturity. To begin, the youth of our day are missing many signs
of maturity. Tim Elmore in the article, The Mark of Maturity, says, This generation
of kids is advanced intellectually but behind emotionally. Tim Elmore is pointing
out that modern teens are not very mature, but what is maturity? First off, Tim
says, There s a portion when the child part of the brain has been pruned, but the
adult portion is not fully formed. Tim is trying to say that most teens aren t very
mature because their brains haven t fully advanced past the stage of a child into a
fully formed adult. In the article, The Mark of Maturity, time Elmore give some
signs of early maturity here s a few; able to keep long term goals, has spirit and

Gospels Essay
The new testament contains four (4) accounts of the story of Jesus life, death and
resurrection as presented by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, The 3 accounts are
similar, while Johns bible presents Jesus in a unique way. These differences exist
because Matthew and Luke got their information from Mark and John got his
information from another source, maybe John did not have access to the other
gospels or he chose not to use them. No one really knows the source of John s gospel
and we don t know for surewho wrote the gospels. Scholars refer to the authors as

Statement was translated to mean that when Christians were forced with the question
of whether gentiles Christians should still practice the special Jewish food (kosher)
laws or could Gentiles eat what they wished (non kosher) and this would not make
them unclean and unacceptable as members of the early Christian community.
This means that during the second stage many of Jesus sayings were not simply
treated as things to be memorized. They were to be used as living words that would
eventually guide Christian communities in all new situations. Third Stage: The oral
traditions about Jesus were written down. If Marks gospel was already being used,
why would Matthew and Luke want to write their respective Gospels as well?
Each of the Gospels were written for a special group of Christians and for a specific
purpose. In Matthew s gospel we often find the phrase quot; All its took place to fulfill
through the prophet... quot;, introducing a quotation from the Old Testament. This
suggests that Matthew is speaking to people who consider the Old testament to be
very important and who are wondering how Jesus fits into history of the Jewish
people. This problems means that Matthew s community was largely Jewish Christian
and needed to be reassured that being a Christian did not separate then from the
Jewish heritage.
In Marks Gospel it does not contain many Old Testament quotations. Mark was not

Charlie Chaplin Vaudeville
Charlie s life started in london england. His birth date was, April 16th 1889. He
grew up with his family until the age of 10 when his father, Charles Chaplin,
passed away. With his father s death and mother s subsequent illnesses, Mr. Chaplin
grew up with his two brothers, Sydney, and Wheeler. Thankfully he received the
gift of talent from his parents and started on stage with his brothers. Vaudeville is a
variety of acts that are on a common bill. Just lots of variety in them, probably very
entertaining. Charlie was a good vaudeville entertainer because he was a comedian
who knew how to own the stage and use his talents. Charlie was invited after his
second tour, to join the New York motion picture company. The guy thought he would

They divorced in 1920 and it wasn t pretty. His second wife was named Lita Grey

Word Order in a Noun Phrase and English Anaphors Essay
WORD ORDER IN NP AND ENGLISH ANAPHORS
Tereza Е tifnerovГЎ The purpose of this essay is firstly to show the word order of a
noun phrase (NP) and how the head noun of the NP can be post and pre modified,
and secondly to focus on meaning of some examples of English anaphors and the
distinctions between them and their Czech translations. The first part is going to aim
on the internal structure of NPs. Complex nominal phrase consists of the pre
modifying elements, the head noun and the post modifying elements. The so called
pre modifiers can be divided into two groups: determiners and prenominals. We have

In the second part I am going to translate some examples of English anaphors into
Czech and then discuss the meanings of them and I will also try to show the
distinctions between English and Czech forms. Here are the examples in English:
(a1) Theyi killed themk. (b1) Theyi killed themselvesi. (c1) Theyi killed each otheri.
And the translation into Czech: (a2) Oni je zabili. (b2) Oni se zabili. (c2) Oni se
zabili (navzГЎjem). The example (a1) has the index i with the pronoun they and the
index k with the accusative case of the pronoun they, which means that the pronoun
they have a meaning of „people , which are NOT the people included in the
meaning of them, i.e. them has the so called disjoined refference. The following
examples (12), (13) and (14) show that in English the nominative and accusative
cases of the pronoun they are used to mark different (groups of) people. (12) (13)
(14) The thievesi killed themk. The thievesi killed the thievesk. *The thievesi killed
the thievesi. в†’ the thieves в‰ them в†’ they are not the same thieves so they
cannot have the same index
The example (b1) has the index i in both cases it means that they and themselves
includes the same people. Because themselves is a reflexive pronoun, we know that
the group of people indicated in they is the same group of people as in themselves. In

Betty Williams Research Paper
Out of all thirty three living Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, I am most interested in
hearing Betty Williams speak about her efforts to inspire peace. Betty Williams
was awarded the 1976 Nobel Peace Prize for her work and devotion to bettering the
lives of suffering children. The 1976 Nobel Peace Prize was jointly awarded to
Betty Williams and her partner Mairead Corrigan in 1977 because the Norwegian
Nobel Committeedecided that the 1976 prize had to be reserved for the following
year since none of the year s candidates for the award matched the criteria ( Nobel

I Want to Become a Software Engineer
Career Choice As human beings, we gather knowledge from many different
sources. These sources can have an impact on our life and influence the choices
we make that will affect our future. I have made a choice to pursue a career in the
field of Software Engineering, because of my interests in technology and
engineering. My values in life include having variety and independence within my
chosen career. After dreaming of becoming a dentist following in my grandfathers
footsteps, I realized dentistry for a career choice did not line up with my values
and interests. I began taking different tests that evaluated my skills, interests, and
values which ultimately led me to a choice in the technological field. The
technological field will allow me to carry out my calling in life to help other by
making everyday tasks easier through Software Engineering. Dear Stephen Thoen,
After reviewing your chosen path of Software Engineering, your past has led you
to a decision that has been influence by your surroundings. As you should know
that reason plays no part in developing a decision in the career path you should
choose. The research you have conducted has led you down a path that is not valid.
The self knowledge that you have is bias because of how limited it actually is. The
knowledge you have about your past has only been developed through empiricism
and authoritarianism. Your grandfather has flooded your mind with the idea of
dentistry, but that does not result in a gain in
Seahorse Research Paper
There are only a handful of animals in the world wherein males carry the offspring,
and the seahorse is probably the best known member of the Singnathidae family. The
male seahorse forms a pouch on its stomach in which to carry babies, sometimes
2,000 in one gestation period, and new studies show that these pregnancies are very
similar to human pregnancies.
How did this come about?
Seahorses are a bizarre species, and one almost tends to forget they are fish. This
member of the Hippocampus genus has quite a few bizarre characteristics; they
range between an inch and a foot in length, carry a curved tail, a tube like mouth and
bony plates on their skin which provide protection.
Seahorse reproduce through a series of dances that end in the female
Racism And The American School System
Racism, the discriminatory belief that members of a certain race are superior or
inferior to another, creates problems that are more intricate than they are skin deep.
Racial stratification emerges not only throughout individual interaction based on
personal bias, but rather emerges within cultures and institutions themselves. Some
would be naГЇve to think that racismmerely hurts the feelings of the oppressed. The
full extent of racism is wide reaching, and it impacts matters much more complex
than a person s emotional state.
Take, for instance, the issue of silencing in the American school system. This
problem was studied extensively by Angelina Castagno, who observed the impact
of legitimating whiteness in the Zion school district of Utah. Silencing is defined
by Jim Cummins as the formal and informal ways schools control who can speak,
what can and cannot be spoken, and whose discourse must be controlled (Castagno
2008:318). There is a strong desire among many educators to avoid conversations
that bring up such charged topics that may result in the triggering of social anxieties.
Castagno observed how the students that attempted to bring up such topics as
unequal distribution of power and resources or feelings of inferiority were typically
the minorities in the classroom, and they usually got shut down. For example, if a
student were to make a just because I m Black comment, they would often be met
with a reply such as Don t say that from the teacher (Castagno
Disadvantages Of Hotel Overbooking
If one were to ponder the question of whether hotels should overbook their rooms
the answer may appear to be quite simple. Why would a hotel owner want to book
more reservations for rooms than they actually had available? This is precisely why
this issue has faced the hotel industry for a number of years. Contrary to what the
average person may think about hotelowners overbooking their rooms, it has actually
shown itself to be a noble strategy in achieving maximum profitability when done
accurately. It is imperative that it is done in an appropriate manner so as to not give
the hotel a corrupt name or lead to guest dissatisfaction.
Having a knowledge about overbooking and what impacts it can have on a hotel are
key to understanding how hotels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hope is to have all the rooms on the property occupied on any given night; due
to the fact of no shows and cancellations hotels may decide to overbook. Though
hotel overbooking can offer success to a vast array of hotels, it is clear that there
are also some disadvantages that could spawn from it. In his article, The Impact of
Overbooking on Hotels Operation Management, Vladimir Sashov Zhechev notes
some of the possible consequences that could result for overbooking when all of
the guests do actually show up that had a reservation. For example, if a customer
has made a reservation at a certain hotel and arrives there only to discover that their
room has been given to another guest who also had a reservation, it is only logical
that the guest is going to be quite irate. It is now the duty of the hotel to arrange for
that customer to have alternate lodging accommodations, as well as provide
transportation for them to get to their other destination (Zhechev et. al Ivanov 7).
Additionally, the hotel may offer the guest a free night on their stay or their next stay
due to the complications they have just experienced on their visit. This now has
ended up costing the hotel money that it will now take as a
My Argument Evaluation
When I received feedback on my work from both the instructor and my classmates
I tried to take all of what was said into account. Considering no person is the same,
they will all feel something different when they read the essay, I tried to make it so
that it wasn t as direct and had more information within it to explain why I felt my
argument was important. This way it is easier for the audience to read as it is
written in a way that can hopefully work for everyone in one way or another.
The challenge I had when developing my argument was the digging I had to do to
obtain articles that worked to help me make it valid. I needed some that supported
what my argument was but was more than words written by a random someone,
wanted articles from journals and other reliable sources. Also, the dates were

I had not mentioned why it was important for others to see my view and how it

addiction as a disease can help with helping the person seek treatment. If its seen as
a choice, we tend to be nasty to them making them feel worse. If they feel worse, they
use more.
When I had initially shared a paragraph on the discussion board I hadn t included my
sources at all. In the final paper, I made sure to cite everything that was not my own
and placed all sources at the end of the paper so that every source is listed.
My sources helped my claim as they supported what I was stating about addiction.
When saying that the addicts changes in ways, I had evidence of brain scans that
showed differences in certain areas of the brain which also explained why the
person would have a sudden change in behavior. Also, I had statistics to show that
mental illnesses were a part of addiction. My biggest challenge was trying to get
everything together in a way that flowed well and made
The Characteristics Of Kunnumpuram, Er And Social
Structures
er and Social Structures As a way of description, a social structure consists of rules,
institutions, and practices; it is socially embodied in the actions, thoughts, beliefs,
and durable dispositions of individual human beings, and often has distributive
consequences for individuals and groups (Deneulin, Web 25/02/2017). It is
commonly believed that the society is structured and stratified in such a way that
there is always a gap among people, institutions and communities based on their
social and professional status. And that unjust power and social structures emanate
when a group of people exert their socio political and economic power and status on
the rest of the entire community. These structures are said to be in place in order to
protect and promote the interest of the ruling and influential class. One of the
protagonists of this opinion is Kunnumpuram who places much emphasis on the
imbalanced structural realities and their effects in society: There stand structural
realities which are in themselves unbalanced distorted, unjust and subhuman; these
are responsible in the main for the massive povertyand suffering of hundreds of
millions of simple and hard working people, and for the centennial marginalization
and humiliation (The Mission of the Church 152 153). He further opines that
wherever a person is found without the means required to meet human needs, and
without resources for creative action and participative life in society, there injustice

The Social Security Problem By Max Moore Summary
Introduction In the essay, The Social Security Problem, published in Sticks and
Stones and Other Student Essays, Max Moore addresses the complex issue of
Social Security running out of funds. He also addresses the possible actions that can
be taken in order to provide a solution to this problem. Moore targets different
audiences that are either directly affected or in control of this depletion of funds. He
uses credible evidence to support his claims while also approaching the subject in a
balanced and unbiased manner. Moore wants Social Security to both raise the
retirementage and raise taxes.
Summary
In The Social Security Problem , Max Moore discusses the fearful reality of Social
Security running out of funds. He states that the U.S. Department of the Treasury
predicts that Social Security funds will run out by 2041 and action must be taken
in order to prevent this (134). In his essay, he explains how the depletion of Social
Security funds are a result from a decreasing retirement age, decreasing fertility
rate, and shrinking work force. These things contribute to an increased population
relying on Social Security, an increased population of the elderly, and a decreased
ratio of workers paying for those beneficiaries (135). Moore explains the proposal of
George W. Bushto make Social Security partially privatized; allowing young workers
to invest their retirement savings into their own account. This would result in people
putting their retirement on the line in

The Causes And Effects Of Europe
Any analysis of European history will reveal a constant theme of revolutions and
counterrevolutions across space and time that have shaped the very foundations of
societies across the expanse of the continent. Furthermore, these revolutions occurred
in many different spheres of daily life. For instance, some revolutions featured
prolonged periods of violent political upheaval while others featured a more subtle
revolution, changing the very social fabric of Europe. In addition, some revolutions
centered on economic change while still others concentrated on class struggle. In
truth, the causes and effects of Europe s many revolutions throughout time are as
varied as the nations that compose the continent itself. However, despite the variety
of the causes of these revolutions and the changes that they wrought, one standard
holds true for all European revolutions; all European revolutions, whether violent or

take the case of 18th century revolutionary France. The French Revolution, without
question, was a truly violent affair which eventually culminated in the beheading of
the French King Louis XVI and his wife Queen Marie Antoinette. In this

Most genes contain the information needed to make functional molecules called
proteins. (A few genes produce other molecules that help the cell assemble proteins.)
The journey from gene to protein is complex and tightly controlled within each cell. It
consists of two major steps: transcription and translation. Together, transcription and
translation are known as geneexpression.
During the process of transcription, the information stored in a gene s DNA is
transferred to a similar molecule called RNA (ribonucleic acid) in the cell nucleus.
Both RNA and DNA are made up of a chain of nucleotide bases, but they have slightly
different chemical properties. The type of RNA that contains the information for
making a protein is called messenger RNA (mRNA) because it carries the
information, or message, from the DNA out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm. ...

The mRNA interacts with a specialized complex called a ribosome, which reads the
sequence of mRNA bases. Each sequence of three bases, called a codon, usually
codes for one particular amino acid. (Amino acids are the building blocks of
proteins.) A type of RNA called transfer RNA (tRNA) assembles the protein, one
amino acid at a time. Protein assembly continues until the ribosome encounters a stop
codon (a sequence of three bases that does not code for an amino acid).
The flow of information from DNA to RNA to proteins is one of the fundamental
principles of molecular biology. It is so important that it is sometimes called the

Possible men s products range from moisturizers, manicure and spa treatments to

cosmetic products nowadays, they have to be marketed different from the women s

in Japan, where the masculinity factor of the culture is very high, men would feel
uncomfortable to shop for cosmetics in a shop for women . Another example is the
difference in need of explanation. Where women normally know a lot about cosmetic

Going Solo is the sequel to Boy, and about a third of the way into the story, Dahl
starts to describe his time serving as a pilot in Britain s Royal Air Force during
WWII. Your eighth graders may know a good deal about the war, but are likely
unaware of how it played out in areas under British control, such as the part of East
Africa that Dahl describes. Take the opportunity to deepen students understanding of
the political situation ( Why is Dahl trying to stop the convoy of Germans from
leaving from Dar es Salaam when war is declared? ) and the geography against
which it plays out ( To where are the Germans trying to escape to? Why there? ) the
memoir easily opens up avenues into different kinds of background knowledge.
Through these very personal perspectives, students learn a great deal about the social
and historical contexts that surround them. As they deepen their sense of what it was

The Benefits Of Sleeping On A Problem Essay
The Benefits of Sleeping on a Problem Introduction If you re like most people, you
have probably been told, when you re struggling with a problem or decision, that it
s a good idea to sleep on it. It s something that people say so frequently that it has
become something of a clichГ©. Like most clichГ©s, though, it turns out that
there s some truth to it. In 1865, a German chemist named Friedrich August Kekule
von Stradonitz solved a problem that had been puzzling scientists for decades. He
published a paper identifying the structure of benzene as a ring of carbon atoms.
Years later, when he was giving a talk about how he made his breakthrough
discovery, he credited it to a dream he d had. In the dream, he saw an image of a
serpent swallowing its own tail, something that is called ouroboros. The symbol
dates back to early Indian, Egyptian and Greek mythology. The sight of the symbol
revealed the ring like structure of benzene to him. Von Stradonitz is not alone.
History is littered with similar examples. Human beings sometimes wake up with
the solution to a complex problem, something they have been wrestling with, clear
in their heads. Why does this happen? Is there scientific merit to the idea of
sleeping on a problem? In this article, we will explore the notion that sleeping on a
problem can help us solve it. It s a somewhat complex topic, but one worth
investigating. The first key to understanding what happens in our brains while we
sleep is to talk about why we need
The Effects Of Media Violence On Violent Entertainment
Discussion
The attraction or appeal of violence in media entertainment is a topic that has
received consistent but quiet academic attention, while the effects of media violence
continues to draw primary focus from the public and scholars alike. This
discrepancy perhaps lays in the difficulty of the question or rather the reality of the
question; how can the same people who develop, and by and large, abide by
established moral and criminal codes condemning violence choose to engage in
violent films, television programs and video games and actually enjoy it? Several
theories have been posited; some with more merit than others, since non fictional and
fictional violence first hit the small (and big) screen.
Research has shown that personality is a significant contributing factor to the
enjoyment of violent entertainment. This is an important finding as it not only
distinguishes between those who enjoy violent entertainment and those who do not
but also draws attention to the different reasons why different people enjoy violent
entertainment. The identification of trait aggression and anti social tendencies as
predictors for enjoyment of violent entertainment is especially important. Given the
widely accepted positive correlation between exposure to violent entertainment and
aggressive or violent behaviour the current finding should encourage further research
into practical and clinical recommendations to mediate the attractiveness of media
violence to people already

projected growth rate. This sensitity is shown in Table . Using the baseline
assumptions (WACC=8.5%, growth rate=2%), we arrive at a base equity level
without synergies of $46.41 per share. However, this value is quite sensitive to both
the WACC and growth rates. The overall spectrum of base values ranges from $27.75

Value of the Cost Synergies
To be able to recognize the cost synergies, Dow had to incur a one time cost of $1.3

fully recoginize the cost synergies. We found that $800 million of cost synergies
would be worth and additional $32.18 per Rohm and Haas share.
Value of the Growth Synergies
Growth Synergies are estimated to be between $2B and $2.6B based on expanded

When she saw the lemon grove, she found it charming. Furthermore, when she

that she does not think like defense minister. (Riklis, 2008) Last but not least, she

Even he suppressed Mira s thoughts by blaming newspaper that they distorted what

Database Used for Reporting and Data Analysis
Introduction
In computing, a data warehouse (DW, DWH), or an enterprise data warehouse
(EDW), is a database used for reporting and data analysis. Integrating data from one
or more disparate sources creates a central repository of data, a data warehouse
(DW). Data warehouses store current and historical data and are used for creating
trending reports for senior management reporting such as annual and quarterly
comparisons.
The data stored in the warehouse is uploaded from the operational systems (such as
marketing, sales, etc., shown in the figure to the right). The data may pass through an
operational data store for additional operations before it is used in the DW for
reporting.
A fundamental concept of a data warehouse is the distinction between data and
information. Data is composed of observable and recordable facts that are often
found in operational or transactional systems. At Rutgers, these systems include the
registrar s data on students (widely known as the SRDB), human resource and
payroll databases, course scheduling data, and data on financial aid. In a data
warehouse environment, data only comes to have value to end users when it is
organized and presented as information. Information is an integrated collection of
facts and is used as the basis for decision making.
The data warehouse is that portion of an overall Architected Data Environment that
serves as the single integrated source of data for processing information. The data
warehouse has specific
My Experience Of Migration To Canada
It s May 22nd 1830 and I just arrived in Canada along with the others, we are now
just resting in a town. This is our first day here. We took the underground railroad,
those routes and safe houses kept us safe the entire way here from The United
States. At the safe houses, we got food, clothing, and a safe place to rest. It was
dangerous, there were many times where we could have been caught and taken back
into slavery, but we didn t get caught. We were some of the few who got through
safely. Many of my friends from back home never made here.
I had to leave, I couldn t be a slave my entire life. I didn t want to be a worker
anymore. I worked so hard every single day for many hours and I got very little in
exchange for that, not even education.
The Radar and World War II
How did the development of the radar during World War II help the United States
during the Pacific War? This investigation evaluates the development of naval radar
technology during the WWII and how the improvements of the radar helped the US
to succeed in the war. To see the change throughout the years, the essay will include
the radarbefore the WWII. The time period will during 1900 1945. Radar was
researched by the British in the 1930s as a means to track migratory birds using
radio waves to bounce off objects back to a receiver. The length of time it takes
that radio signal to be sent then received gives you some idea of how far away the
object is. It was not a scientific tool as designed, but the Royal Air Force saw it
might be able to be used to locate aircraft they formed a committee to investigate
that, and RDF (radio detection finding) was born which was later abbreviated to radar.
The two sources used in the essay are For Better or for Worse: The Marriage of
Science and Government in the United States and The war in the Pacific: From
Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay by Harry A. Gailey will be evaluated for their purpose,
value, and limitations. The essay focuses on how the developments of the radar
affected the naval radar use by US during World War II. I will discuss how the ideas
of the radar came about in Europe and later moved to the US. The essay consists of

Shooting An Elephant By George Orwell
George Orwell is an amazing writer of the 20th century who is famous for his short
stories and poems. In many of his essays, he seeks to entertain and educate the
audience about a particular aspect of society. Among his best works include Politics
and the English Language and Shooting an Elephant . These two stories are written
very meticulously in order to show the audience how easily we as humans tend to
change the things we say, along with our behavior due to others influence on us. The
two essays share some similarities when it comes to their writingstyle, but differ
greatly when it comes to their tone.

In Politics and the English Language Orwell takes an aggressive and critical tone.
For example, Orwell states that the English dialect has turned into something ...ugly
and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our
language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts ( Politics 463). This is his
main argument in this particular work. It highlights the way he perceives the state of
the English language at that time, and the ways in which it is being destroyed by the
mere aspects that are supposed to protect and uphold it. Evidently, Orwell takes this
unique approach in a bid to ensure that the world understands his concerns where
linguistic preservation is concerned, along with the elements that interfere with their
use. It is safe to say that Orwell is more concerned with presenting his own personal
perspective in regards to changes in language, rather then letting the reader decide on
their own as he does in Shooting an Elephant . This helps form a foundation for the
aggressive and critical tone that he embraces in this particular
Scoop Summary
In Evelyn Waugh s satirical novel Scoop, a nature writer named William Boot is
mistaken for his far flung cousin, the famous novelist John Boot and sent as a foreign
correspondent to the conflict ridden country of Ishmaelia. After a number of litigious
obstacles, he arrives in Jacksonburg, Ishmaelia, with dozens of other journalists, who
spend each day trying to get the scoopto send back to their respective newspapers.
William spends day after day, sending nothing to his newspaper, the Beast, and gets
fired while the others prepare to visit the city of Laku, which, unbeknownst to them,
is a fictional town. William stays behind, and while he prepares his exit from
Jacksonburg, he inadvertently gets wind of a coup d Г©tat that might lead to a
communist dictatorship. The city transforms overnight into a red state, and changes
back soon after the accidental death of their leader, the Consular Benito. In the
meanwhile, a mysterious man named Mr. Baldwin buys out the city and William
happily returns to England.
Scoop is a quirky novel that doesn t take itself too seriously, in contrast to the
extravagant prose throughout. There is a quiet humor to Waugh s writing that
manifests itself in the quirks and details of the characters. In our first introduction of
the famous novelist John Boot, Waugh writes, John shivered and rubbed some grit
further into his eye (p. 47). In book three, Waugh describes a scene in Megalopolitan
in which every person is busying themselves with mundane
Summary Of Orczy s The Scarlet Pimpernel
The book was written by Hungarian Aristocrat Baroness Emmuska Orczy, and the
book takes on the viewpoint of one who sympathizes with the French aristocrats
during the Reign of Terror. For being a book on historical fiction, it was a fairly
easy read. The purpose of the book is to entertain the readers. Orczy accomplished
that and then some with this book. Following Marguerite Blakeney, formerly
Marguerite St. Just, on a wild adventure filled with suspense and danger, The Scarlet
Pimpernel is a fast pace book that captures and holds the interest of readers. The one
character of the book who stood out the most as being frightened was Marguerite
Blakeney. Throughout the book there were instances of her being frightened and not
knowing how to proceed when first her brother and then her husband were in danger.
In saving her brother, Marguerite was forced into helping Chauvelin find the identity
of the Scarlet Pimpernel (pg69). She later comes to the realization that the Scarlet

The detail used made it easy to picture what the characters were going through. It
showed both the beauty and horrific images the characters came across. The
imagery used also made the book more fun and interesting to read. When the
author uses very little imagery in their writing, it can be difficult to read through
the book. Orczy made the book a breeze to get through. Another thing that was well
done in the book was the use of suspense. Trying to find out who the Scarlet
Pimpernel was kept the reader flipping through the pages. The clues laid down for
the reader to find were great. It made the book take on a life of its own. When
guesses at who the Scarlet Pimpernel were formed, the urge to know whether or not
they were correct kept the reader ensnared in the book. This made the book a very
easy read, which is always nice when the reader has to read the

Conflict covered the world in the early 1900s during WWI. After four long years
of fighting treaties were signed. Following Armistice Day a new era began. New
ideas and trends swept over the world after WWI in the era called the Jazz Age.
During the Jazz Age, Paris became the center of the artistic movement. Artists of all
sorts from every corner of the globe traveled to Paris. Ernest Hemingway was there
during this time, and his life in 1920s Paris is documented in his memoir A
Moveable Feast. Along with Hemingway, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Salvador

Everything changed in the United States during this era. Even though the United
States only took part in WWI for one year, the society changed drastically during
this time. The seemingly perfect world that people once lived in no longer existed.
The youth rebelled against the social constrictions ,and women started to do things
unimaginable beforehand. Jazz was on the rise with musicians such as Duke
Ellington and Louis Armstrong taking the lead. The Temperance Movement
attributed the carefree lifestyle of society to alcohol eventually bringing about the
Prohibition. The Prohibition took effect in 1920 a year after the Eighteenth
Amendment was passed. Even though there was a ban on alcohol the seemingly
endless party of society still remained. The Volstead Act was passed in 1919 to
clarify the Eighteenth Amendment, and created loopholes for purchasing alcohol.
The act allowed people to drink alcohol if it was prescribed by a doctor. These types
of prescriptions quickly became a new fad. Organized crime boomed during this
time with the smuggling and sale of alcohol. Al Capone had rum from the
Caribbean and whiskey from Canada smuggled through the borders. Secret bars
called speakeasies were created to host the illegal alcohol intake. Since all of these
dealings were illegal, speakeasies were always liable to be raided by a Prohibition
officer. None of the money from the sale of alcohol went to the
The Surveillance Of Law Enforcement Officers
Recent media stories have caused uproars among communities and riots against
law enforcement agencies due to publications of pictures or video footage of law
enforcement officers exhibiting the use of force. Due to these recent cases, many
are requiring a reform in the surveillance of law enforcement officers to provide
viable evidence to support their case on the degree of force they used during the
incident in question. One of the majorly used and promoted reforms is the use of
body worn cameras on all officers during their shift. Research and studies have
promoted this technique as it offers many advantages to help resolve the issues
faced. Body worn cameras provide agencies with video footage of all occurrences as

Complaints of officer behaviors clutter the paperwork in law enforcement agencies
since numerous reports are filed daily and previously, investigations were based on
the officer s statement of events and the defendant s recollection of the events.
Therefore, both statements conflict due to no reliable evidence to prove the officer s
innocence or guilt. The recordings found from the body worn cameras provide
reliable recordings to help investigate the complaints, resolve complaints with
evidence, strengthen officer accountability and improve law enforcement agencies
transparency (Coudert, Butin, Metayer, 2015). To aid in the transparency of law
enforcement agencies to the public and to build the rapport between the two parties,
all recordings through police body worn cameras are considered to be public access.
The Freedom of Information Act allows anyone to request access to recordings
and images from the cameras. Although, each request requires significant police
workforces to add to their work load to protect privacy of all involved. All faces
must be blurred, sensitive information removed or mute the audio all together is
required prior to submitting the recordings to the requestor. Storage only keeps
recordings of incidents using force, incidents in question of complaint, or possible
misconduct in which only these recordings allow public disclosure (Smykla, Crow,
Crichlow, Synder, 2016). The use of force is compared to a

understanding of his/her family background. Assessing the family using systemic
approach enables health care providers to learn about the ways in which family
members interact, what are the family expectations and norms, how effective is the
members communication, who makes decisions and how the familydeals with life
time stressors (Hockenberry Wilson, 2007). This paper outlines the assessment and
analysis of the three generation of Wits and Smiths families, its relationship, health
pattern, habits, tradition and structure. It also provides a nursing teaching plan. The

Their center operates 24/7 just as many Real Time Crime Centers. Officers respond
to more than 1,200 911 calls for service in an area with a population of 500,000.
The Real Time Crime Center displays fifty seven monitors that cover the wall and
provide camera feed from over 1,000 different camera sources including city
cameras, schools, and traffic cameras. In June 2016 the department was in the
process of streaming over 400 feeds from body worn cameras. The Real Time Crime
Center has proven success in apprehending violent suspects by utilizing the
surveillance cameras along with other valuable tools such as the License Plate
Recognition (LPR) system and ShotSpotter just to name a few (Jouvenal).

Slavery In Colonial America
By the 1630s, about 1.5 million pounds of tobacco was hauled out of Chesapeake
Bay (and almost 40 million towards the 1700s). The Chespeake was hospitable for
tobacco cultivation and it blew up the tobacco economy.Sir William Berkeley
became governor of Virginia in 1642. He didn t like that most of his people were
poor, unhappy, and armed, but he didn t help them out of that either. However, he did
have friendly policies towards the Indians to monopolize the fur trade. In Virginia
(1600s 1650s), there was a very short lifespan due to diseases. Many people didn t
live to their 40th birthday, or even their 20th. This made the men compete for the
women that they outnumbered and become one of the few families that existed there.
To have enough cheap labor and maintain the tobacco economy, there were
indentured servants. There were about 100,000 of them by 1700. The servants
exchanged working for transatlantic passage and freedom dues (food, clothes, and
land). The headright system was also employed to encourage importing servant
workers. Nathaniel Bacon (a 29 year old planter) gathered about a 1,000 Virginians

Black slaves were brought into America and even outnumbered white servants in
the mid 1680s. There were many slave revolts. One in New York City in 1712
killed about 12 white and 21 black people. Another slave revolt in 1739 happened
where slaves marched along the Stono River trying to get to Florida, but couldn t
make it as they were stopped. Many slaves died on their way to America, as in
1694, a slave trader wrote that many drowned themselves or starved themselves to
death on purpose (4C1). The journey from Africa to America was very brutal for
them, but they died as a release to go home. This showed how awful they believed

The Knowledge Management At Hp Austria
A review of the knowledge management at HP Austria 1.Choo s KM Model
According to the Choo s knowledge management model, meaning is usually
constructed when information is filtered using the sense making behaviors. This
implies that individuals in an organization create new knowledge concerning the
external world by transforming the individual knowledge to become shareable
knowledge and information. In regards to the Choo s model, it is evident that HP
Austria has reached a specific point where the organization as a whole is more
prepared to behave in a rational manner and to choose an alternative based on the
organizational goals, objectives as well as strategy. HP Austria is mainly a marketing
company which is divided into eight sections. The company initially produced
industrial measuring systems, for this reason, corporate culture is very important and
is strongly influenced by measuring. When the company realized that the customer
expectations had grown faster than the company itself, a 10xprogram was started
with the scope of improving the product quality ten times (Kai Mertins Vorbeck,
2001). The company employees noticed that one division of the company had not
fulfilled all the technological improvements that had been planned. In an around the
world Reengineering Quality Conference in 1995, the organization achieved a
consistent conclusion from this investigation: The emphasis on creation was
supplanted by a concentration on clients. As a result, the
Psychology At The University Of Southern Mississippi
While studying psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi, I developed
an interest in youth psychological health and social well being. As an avid learner, I
subsequently became interested in clinical child research and joined Dr. Christopher
T. Barry s Youth Personality and Behavior (YPB) laboratory as a volunteer research
assistant during my sophomore year of college. After learning the dynamics of
working in a research laboratory, and taking courses such as adolescent, social,
developmental, and personality psychology, my interest in interpersonal relationships,
personality, and mental health solidified. From then on, I sought to expand my
experiences in undergraduate research. For example, I participated in my first
independent research experience at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
through the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP). I conducted research
in the clinical/community division of the psychology department, and my research
focused on how juvenile delinquency, ADHD, and perceptions of youth s control in
choosing their own mental health service impacted the magnitude of caregiver(s)
strain. From my SROP experience, I learned a wealth of information about tabulating
data, from coding variables to running statistical analyses in the Statistical Package
for Social Sciences (SPSS). SROP was a wonderful experience, and it catalyzed my
progress as an undergraduate researcher.
Shortly after my SROP experience, I began simultaneously
Judge Genie
Judge Genie (Isaac): Do you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but
the truth?
Jafar/Aladdin: Yes, your honour.
Judge Genie (Isaac): Okay, let s start from the beginning, Wafer, present your case.
Jafar (Ashlynn): Well your honor, I wanted to buy a carpet for my living room, but
my pay wage is terrible at the palace. I asked Aladdin to help out. However, he was
in jail for stealing bread, fruit, and money from the merchants. I asked him to come
with me to the Cave of Wonders to get the lamp, so I could ask the Genie for
money. Of course, Aladdin had to mess something up by filling the whole cave with
lava. I almost got the lamp, but Aladdin s monkey just had to steal the lamp and I
didn t get my carpet!

was kinda hilarious. But now lets not forget all of the horrible things Aladdin has
done!
Judge Genie (Isaac): I don t understand. Why do you think that doing magic was
funny! You committed assault against two people. Aliddon you have also stolen a
few things and there will be consequences for. Wefar you are going to our C.D.C
(Crippling Depression Center ) for 20 years. Addition you are sentenced to a total of
30 years without bail for stealing stuff. Case closed even if you say objection nobody
will care.
Jafar (Ashlynn): No! I m not going back to jail! I just wanted a new carpet! (Run

Swot Analysis Of Costco
Costco History, Current Performance, Mission Statement, and Objectives. Costco
and its subsidiaries began operating in 1983 in Seattle Washington. The company
is engaged in the operation of membership warehouses, in the U.S, Canada,
Mexico, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom and Spain according to the company
website. It also has subsidiaries in Taiwan and Korea. Costco main objective is to
offer its members low markups on a limited selection of nationally branded
products as well as a selection of private labels in a wide range of merchandise
categories. Jim Sinegal inherited this philosophy from his longtime employer and
mentor, Sol Price who was the pioneer of the warehouse store in the 1970 s. Price s
main focus was on the lowest possible markup rather than the deepest discount. In
his mind, the word discount equated with the meaning of cheap and inferior
products. Sinegal build on Price legacy by promoting high value products at low
price as the core ingredient which sets Costco apart from other business model.
Costco s main objective is to lure members into its warehouse weekly by providing
new products weekly. According to Brian Woolf To create a sense of excitement,
urgency, and a need to visit frequently, Costco provides a flow of in out items
continually throughout the year: buy now, it may not be here next week! Finding
these non repeated in out offers creates a treasure hunt environment Woolf went on to
say. These new products include big designer or luxurious

Roper V. Simmons Case Study
Roper V. Simmons
The Facts
Christopher Simmons a 17 year old junior in high school at the time murdered
Shirley Crook, one early September morning (Oyez, p.1). Simmons was briefly
acquainted with Crook previously from a past occurring car accident that had
involved them both. Furthermore, Christopher did not plan alone how he wanted to
accomplish his crimes. Simmons two friends Charles Benjamin and John Tessmer, 15
and 16 agreed to aid Simmons in accomplishing his plan due to Simmons insisting
they would get away with charges due to being minors (Roper v. Simmons, 2005,p.3).
The three friends met around 2am September 9th; however at the last minute Tessmer
left the scene, backing out of the murder plan. Nevertheless, Simmons and Benjamin
gained access to Crook s home through a window left open, which allowed them to
unlock the back door. Mrs. Crook was in her bedroom at the time and the two
juveniles duct taped her: eyes, mouth and hands closed (Roper v. ... Show more

His representation motioned to set aside Simmons previous charges and conviction
(Roper v. Simmons, 2005,p.4). The federal courts denied Simmons petition for a
write of habeas corpus, due to finding no Constitutional violation, on grounds from
ineffective assistance of counsel; thus denying his motion for post conviction relief
(Roper v. Simmons, 2005,p.4). The Simmons case came to a halt later in 2002, when
the Missouri Supreme Court stayed Simmons s execution (Oyez, p.1); during which
The U.S. Supreme Court decided upon Atkins v. Virginia. The Atkins V. Virginia case
dealt with the execution of mentally ill persons (Oyez, p.1); The U.S. Supreme Court
ruled that executing the mentally ill violated the Eighth and 14th Amendment s
prohibitions on cruel and unusual punishment, mainly in addition to the fact that
several Americans deemed it cruel and

  • 1. Example Of An Analytical Essay Writing an essay on the topic "Example of an Analytical Essay" can be quite challenging, as it requires a careful balance between analysis and explanation. The difficulty lies in effectively conveying the process of analyzing a particular subject while providing a clear and insightful example. Crafting a coherent and well-structured essay involves delving into the intricacies of the chosen example, dissecting its components, and presenting a logical argument that supports the analysis. To begin with, identifying a suitable example that aligns with the analytical approach is a crucial step. Once a relevant example is chosen, the writer must delve into a thorough analysis, breaking down the elements that contribute to its significance. This involves critically examining various aspects, such as themes, symbolism, and underlying messages, and connecting them to the broader context. Creating a compelling thesis statement is another hurdle, as it needs to encapsulate the essence of the analysis while providing a roadmap for the reader. • 2. A Brief Note On Classical Conditioning And Fear Classical Conditioning and Fear Introduction Fear is common in humans as well as in animals. Species that are thinking and learning have been observed to respond to fear especially when they are subjected to something that caused them pain and trauma, which will make them behave to prevent the exact or related thing/event. Learning how fear accumulates and affects an individual has taken the interests of many studies. There are research conducted to examine how species react to pain and how they behave when they encounter the stimulus again. In studying fear, Pavlovian fear conditioning has been an important and well used model. It has been used in investigating rats in the laboratories and how they behave on different stimuli and how they learn and remember each encounter. In one of the research works done to investigate fear in rats, Maren (2008) describes the Pavlovian fear conditioning in examining how the hippocampus and amygdala have been behaving in transgenic mouse models. The essence of these two parts of the brain, however, has not been proved in contexts and discrete use for fear conditioning. The recent work has been considered as unclear whether if the hippocampus and the amygdala play an important role in fear learning, specifically in terms of anatomical segregation of cue and context conditioning. There are also other non associative factors that affected the investigation and the results of the performance of fear responses, thus, more research works are

It almost seems like this kid is an adult, but that s not right it s just that this kid is very mature. We all love it when someone is mature especially when this someone is a teen because it always seems like teens are lacking in all common sense. As teens are struggling to figure out who they are, they are learning about maturity, and how it affects them. Parents are watching their teens struggle to discover their path, they are wondering why this generation is so behind and lacks the early signs of maturity. To begin, the youth of our day are missing many signs of maturity. Tim Elmore in the article, The Mark of Maturity, says, This generation of kids is advanced intellectually but behind emotionally. Tim Elmore is pointing out that modern teens are not very mature, but what is maturity? First off, Tim says, There s a portion when the child part of the brain has been pruned, but the adult portion is not fully formed. Tim is trying to say that most teens aren t very mature because their brains haven t fully advanced past the stage of a child into a fully formed adult. In the article, The Mark of Maturity, time Elmore give some signs of early maturity here s a few; able to keep long term goals, has spirit and humility, unshaken by flattery or criticism, express gratitude, prioritize others above

  • 5. Gospels Essay The new testament contains four (4) accounts of the story of Jesus life, death and resurrection as presented by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, The 3 accounts are similar, while Johns bible presents Jesus in a unique way. These differences exist because Matthew and Luke got their information from Mark and John got his information from another source, maybe John did not have access to the other gospels or he chose not to use them. No one really knows the source of John s gospel and we don t know for surewho wrote the gospels. Scholars refer to the authors as Matthew, Mark, Luke amp; John, this may not even be their real names. Statement was translated to mean that when Christians were forced with the question of whether gentiles Christians should still practice the special Jewish food (kosher) laws or could Gentiles eat what they wished (non kosher) and this would not make them unclean and unacceptable as members of the early Christian community. This means that during the second stage many of Jesus sayings were not simply treated as things to be memorized. They were to be used as living words that would eventually guide Christian communities in all new situations. Third Stage: The oral traditions about Jesus were written down. If Marks gospel was already being used, why would Matthew and Luke want to write their respective Gospels as well? Each of the Gospels were written for a special group of Christians and for a specific purpose. In Matthew s gospel we often find the phrase quot; All its took place to fulfill through the prophet... quot;, introducing a quotation from the Old Testament. This suggests that Matthew is speaking to people who consider the Old testament to be very important and who are wondering how Jesus fits into history of the Jewish people. This problems means that Matthew s community was largely Jewish Christian and needed to be reassured that being a Christian did not separate then from the Jewish heritage. In Marks Gospel it does not contain many Old Testament quotations. Mark was not

Betty Williams was awarded the 1976 Nobel Peace Prize for her work and devotion to bettering the lives of suffering children. The 1976 Nobel Peace Prize was jointly awarded to Betty Williams and her partner Mairead Corrigan in 1977 because the Norwegian Nobel Committeedecided that the 1976 prize had to be reserved for the following year since none of the year s candidates for the award matched the criteria ( Nobel Peace Prize1976 ). These sources can have an impact on our life and influence the choices we make that will affect our future. I have made a choice to pursue a career in the field of Software Engineering, because of my interests in technology and engineering. My values in life include having variety and independence within my chosen career. After dreaming of becoming a dentist following in my grandfathers footsteps, I realized dentistry for a career choice did not line up with my values and interests. I began taking different tests that evaluated my skills, interests, and values which ultimately led me to a choice in the technological field. The technological field will allow me to carry out my calling in life to help other by making everyday tasks easier through Software Engineering. Dear Stephen Thoen, After reviewing your chosen path of Software Engineering, your past has led you to a decision that has been influence by your surroundings. As you should know that reason plays no part in developing a decision in the career path you should choose. The research you have conducted has led you down a path that is not valid. The male seahorse forms a pouch on its stomach in which to carry babies, sometimes 2,000 in one gestation period, and new studies show that these pregnancies are very similar to human pregnancies. How did this come about? Seahorses are a bizarre species, and one almost tends to forget they are fish. This member of the Hippocampus genus has quite a few bizarre characteristics; they range between an inch and a foot in length, carry a curved tail, a tube like mouth and bony plates on their skin which provide protection. Seahorse reproduce through a series of dances that end in the female
  • 12. Racism And The American School System Racism, the discriminatory belief that members of a certain race are superior or inferior to another, creates problems that are more intricate than they are skin deep. Racial stratification emerges not only throughout individual interaction based on personal bias, but rather emerges within cultures and institutions themselves. Some would be naГЇve to think that racismmerely hurts the feelings of the oppressed. The full extent of racism is wide reaching, and it impacts matters much more complex than a person s emotional state. Take, for instance, the issue of silencing in the American school system. This problem was studied extensively by Angelina Castagno, who observed the impact of legitimating whiteness in the Zion school district of Utah. Silencing is defined by Jim Cummins as the formal and informal ways schools control who can speak, what can and cannot be spoken, and whose discourse must be controlled (Castagno 2008:318). There is a strong desire among many educators to avoid conversations that bring up such charged topics that may result in the triggering of social anxieties. Castagno observed how the students that attempted to bring up such topics as unequal distribution of power and resources or feelings of inferiority were typically the minorities in the classroom, and they usually got shut down. For example, if a student were to make a just because I m Black comment, they would often be met with a reply such as Don t say that from the teacher (Castagno

Why would a hotel owner want to book more reservations for rooms than they actually had available? This is precisely why this issue has faced the hotel industry for a number of years. Contrary to what the average person may think about hotelowners overbooking their rooms, it has actually shown itself to be a noble strategy in achieving maximum profitability when done accurately. Though hotel overbooking can offer success to a vast array of hotels, it is clear that there are also some disadvantages that could spawn from it. In his article, The Impact of Overbooking on Hotels Operation Management, Vladimir Sashov Zhechev notes some of the possible consequences that could result for overbooking when all of the guests do actually show up that had a reservation. For example, if a customer has made a reservation at a certain hotel and arrives there only to discover that their room has been given to another guest who also had a reservation, it is only logical that the guest is going to be quite irate. It is now the duty of the hotel to arrange for that customer to have alternate lodging accommodations, as well as provide transportation for them to get to their other destination (Zhechev et. al Ivanov 7). Additionally, the hotel may offer the guest a free night on their stay or their next stay due to the complications they have just experienced on their visit. The Characteristics Of Kunnumpuram, Er And Social Structures er and Social Structures As a way of description, a social structure consists of rules, institutions, and practices; it is socially embodied in the actions, thoughts, beliefs, and durable dispositions of individual human beings, and often has distributive consequences for individuals and groups (Deneulin, Web 25/02/2017). It is commonly believed that the society is structured and stratified in such a way that there is always a gap among people, institutions and communities based on their social and professional status. And that unjust power and social structures emanate when a group of people exert their socio political and economic power and status on the rest of the entire community. These structures are said to be in place in order to protect and promote the interest of the ruling and influential class. One of the protagonists of this opinion is Kunnumpuram who places much emphasis on the imbalanced structural realities and their effects in society: There stand structural realities which are in themselves unbalanced distorted, unjust and subhuman; these are responsible in the main for the massive povertyand suffering of hundreds of millions of simple and hard working people, and for the centennial marginalization and humiliation (The Mission of the Church 152 153). He further opines that wherever a person is found without the means required to meet human needs, and without resources for creative action and participative life in society, there injustice has been in

The Social Security Problem By Max Moore Summary Introduction In the essay, The Social Security Problem, published in Sticks and Stones and Other Student Essays, Max Moore addresses the complex issue of Social Security running out of funds. He also addresses the possible actions that can be taken in order to provide a solution to this problem. Moore targets different audiences that are either directly affected or in control of this depletion of funds. He uses credible evidence to support his claims while also approaching the subject in a balanced and unbiased manner. Moore wants Social Security to both raise the retirementage and raise taxes. Summary In The Social Security Problem , Max Moore discusses the fearful reality of Social Security running out of funds. He states that the U.S. Department of the Treasury predicts that Social Security funds will run out by 2041 and action must be taken in order to prevent this (134). In his essay, he explains how the depletion of Social Security funds are a result from a decreasing retirement age, decreasing fertility rate, and shrinking work force. These things contribute to an increased population relying on Social Security, an increased population of the elderly, and a decreased ratio of workers paying for those beneficiaries (135). Moore explains the proposal of George W. Bushto make Social Security partially privatized; allowing young workers to invest their retirement savings into their own account. This would result in people putting their retirement on the line in

The Causes And Effects Of Europe Any analysis of European history will reveal a constant theme of revolutions and counterrevolutions across space and time that have shaped the very foundations of societies across the expanse of the continent. Furthermore, these revolutions occurred in many different spheres of daily life. For instance, some revolutions featured prolonged periods of violent political upheaval while others featured a more subtle revolution, changing the very social fabric of Europe. In addition, some revolutions centered on economic change while still others concentrated on class struggle. In truth, the causes and effects of Europe s many revolutions throughout time are as varied as the nations that compose the continent itself. However, despite the variety of the causes of these revolutions and the changes that they wrought, one standard holds true for all European revolutions; all European revolutions, whether violent or not, served to irreversibly alter the social, political, and economic paradigms of the nation where the revolution took place. To put it bluntly, a European nation that experienced any form of a revolution, regardless of time period and location, was forever altered from what it had been prior to the revolutionary event. Case and point, take the case of 18th century revolutionary France. The French Revolution, without question, was a truly violent affair which eventually culminated in the beheading of the French King Louis XVI and his wife Queen Marie Antoinette. In this
  • 22. Messenger Rna Research Paper Most genes contain the information needed to make functional molecules called proteins. (A few genes produce other molecules that help the cell assemble proteins.) The journey from gene to protein is complex and tightly controlled within each cell. It consists of two major steps: transcription and translation. Together, transcription and translation are known as geneexpression. During the process of transcription, the information stored in a gene s DNA is transferred to a similar molecule called RNA (ribonucleic acid) in the cell nucleus. Both RNA and DNA are made up of a chain of nucleotide bases, but they have slightly different chemical properties. The type of RNA that contains the information for making a protein is called messenger RNA (mRNA) because it carries the information, or message, from the DNA out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mRNA interacts with a specialized complex called a ribosome, which reads the sequence of mRNA bases. Each sequence of three bases, called a codon, usually codes for one particular amino acid. (Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins.) A type of RNA called transfer RNA (tRNA) assembles the protein, one amino acid at a time. Protein assembly continues until the ribosome encounters a stop codon (a sequence of three bases that does not code for an amino acid). The flow of information from DNA to RNA to proteins is one of the fundamental principles of molecular biology. It is so important that it is sometimes called the central

The Benefits Of Sleeping On A Problem Essay The Benefits of Sleeping on a Problem Introduction If you re like most people, you have probably been told, when you re struggling with a problem or decision, that it s a good idea to sleep on it. It s something that people say so frequently that it has become something of a clichГ©. Like most clichГ©s, though, it turns out that there s some truth to it. In 1865, a German chemist named Friedrich August Kekule von Stradonitz solved a problem that had been puzzling scientists for decades. He published a paper identifying the structure of benzene as a ring of carbon atoms. Years later, when he was giving a talk about how he made his breakthrough discovery, he credited it to a dream he d had. In the dream, he saw an image of a serpent swallowing its own tail, something that is called ouroboros. The symbol dates back to early Indian, Egyptian and Greek mythology. The sight of the symbol revealed the ring like structure of benzene to him. Von Stradonitz is not alone. History is littered with similar examples. Human beings sometimes wake up with the solution to a complex problem, something they have been wrestling with, clear in their heads. Why does this happen? Is there scientific merit to the idea of sleeping on a problem? In this article, we will explore the notion that sleeping on a problem can help us solve it. The Effects Of Media Violence On Violent Entertainment Discussion The attraction or appeal of violence in media entertainment is a topic that has received consistent but quiet academic attention, while the effects of media violence continues to draw primary focus from the public and scholars alike. This discrepancy perhaps lays in the difficulty of the question or rather the reality of the question; how can the same people who develop, and by and large, abide by established moral and criminal codes condemning violence choose to engage in violent films, television programs and video games and actually enjoy it? Several theories have been posited; some with more merit than others, since non fictional and fictional violence first hit the small (and big) screen. Research has shown that personality is a significant contributing factor to the enjoyment of violent entertainment. This is an important finding as it not only distinguishes between those who enjoy violent entertainment and those who do not but also draws attention to the different reasons why different people enjoy violent entertainment. The identification of trait aggression and anti social tendencies as predictors for enjoyment of violent entertainment is especially important. Given the widely accepted positive correlation between exposure to violent entertainment and aggressive or violent behaviour the current finding should encourage further research into practical and clinical recommendations to mediate the attractiveness of media violence to people already

  • 30. Database Used for Reporting and Data Analysis Introduction In computing, a data warehouse (DW, DWH), or an enterprise data warehouse (EDW), is a database used for reporting and data analysis. Integrating data from one or more disparate sources creates a central repository of data, a data warehouse (DW). Data warehouses store current and historical data and are used for creating trending reports for senior management reporting such as annual and quarterly comparisons. The data stored in the warehouse is uploaded from the operational systems (such as marketing, sales, etc., shown in the figure to the right). The data may pass through an operational data store for additional operations before it is used in the DW for reporting. A fundamental concept of a data warehouse is the distinction between data and information. Data is composed of observable and recordable facts that are often found in operational or transactional systems. At Rutgers, these systems include the registrar s data on students (widely known as the SRDB), human resource and payroll databases, course scheduling data, and data on financial aid. In a data warehouse environment, data only comes to have value to end users when it is organized and presented as information. Information is an integrated collection of facts and is used as the basis for decision making. The data warehouse is that portion of an overall Architected Data Environment that serves as the single integrated source of data for processing information. The data warehouse has specific

These types of prescriptions quickly became a new fad. Organized crime boomed during this time with the smuggling and sale of alcohol. Al Capone had rum from the Caribbean and whiskey from Canada smuggled through the borders. Secret bars called speakeasies were created to host the illegal alcohol intake. Since all of these dealings were illegal, speakeasies were always liable to be raided by a Prohibition officer. None of the money from the sale of alcohol went to the

Complaints of officer behaviors clutter the paperwork in law enforcement agencies since numerous reports are filed daily and previously, investigations were based on the officer s statement of events and the defendant s recollection of the events. Therefore, both statements conflict due to no reliable evidence to prove the officer s innocence or guilt. The recordings found from the body worn cameras provide reliable recordings to help investigate the complaints, resolve complaints with evidence, strengthen officer accountability and improve law enforcement agencies transparency (Coudert, Butin, Metayer, 2015). To aid in the transparency of law enforcement agencies to the public and to build the rapport between the two parties, all recordings through police body worn cameras are considered to be public access. The Freedom of Information Act allows anyone to request access to recordings and images from the cameras. Although, each request requires significant police workforces to add to their work load to protect privacy of all involved. All faces must be blurred, sensitive information removed or mute the audio all together is required prior to submitting the recordings to the requestor. Many people didn t live to their 40th birthday, or even their 20th. This made the men compete for the women that they outnumbered and become one of the few families that existed there. To have enough cheap labor and maintain the tobacco economy, there were indentured servants. There were about 100,000 of them by 1700. As an avid learner, I subsequently became interested in clinical child research and joined Dr. Christopher T. After learning the dynamics of working in a research laboratory, and taking courses such as adolescent, social, developmental, and personality psychology, my interest in interpersonal relationships, personality, and mental health solidified. From then on, I sought to expand my experiences in undergraduate research. For example, I participated in my first independent research experience at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign through the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP). I conducted research in the clinical/community division of the psychology department, and my research focused on how juvenile delinquency, ADHD, and perceptions of youth s control in choosing their own mental health service impacted the magnitude of caregiver(s) strain. From my SROP experience, I learned a wealth of information about tabulating data, from coding variables to running statistical analyses in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). It also has subsidiaries in Taiwan and Korea. Costco main objective is to offer its members low markups on a limited selection of nationally branded products as well as a selection of private labels in a wide range of merchandise categories.
