Teenage Pregnancy Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of teenage pregnancy is not a task to be taken lightly. It involves
delving into a complex and sensitive issue that requires a thorough understanding of various
factors such as societal norms, cultural influences, economic conditions, and individual choices.
The difficulty lies not only in presenting factual information but also in navigating the emotional
and ethical dimensions of the topic.
Addressing the causes, consequences, and potential solutions surrounding teenage pregnancy
demands a balanced approach that considers both the personal experiences of the individuals
involved and the broader societal implications. Engaging with statistics, research findings, and
expert opinions is essential to provide a well-rounded perspective on the subject.
Moreover, the essay should aim to foster empathy and understanding rather than perpetuating
stereotypes or stigmatizing individuals. Striking the right tone is challenging, as the goal is to
educate and inform without passing judgment or oversimplifying the complexities associated
with teenage pregnancy.
Additionally, staying up-to-date with the latest research and statistics on the topic is crucial, as
societal attitudes and approaches to teenage pregnancy can evolve over time. This requires
ongoing research and a commitment to presenting accurate and relevant information.
In conclusion, writing an essay on teenage pregnancy demands a delicate balance between
factual accuracy, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted nature of the issue.
It requires a conscientious effort to address the topic comprehensively while respecting the
dignity of those involved.

Holiday Break Research Paper
Over the holiday break, I did lots of fun things. I spent time with family, I hung out
with friends, and I went to Branson. I really enjoyed the break and had tons of fun!
For Christmas, we always meet up with my dad s side of the family the Saturday
before Christmas and they all come over to my house. We ate dinner with them and
opened up presents. On Christmas Eve morning, my family and I went to my church
for a candlelight service. That night we also went to the candlelight service at
Immanuel Baptist Church to meet up with some friends and family. After Immanuel
s candlelight service was over I went to my great grandmother s house to eat dinner
and open presents with some of my family members. When that was over, I went
back over to my
The Field By John Keane
The Field is a story written by John Keane and is about a farmer who is very poor
and owns a piece of land. He is renting a field from a woman who has now become
a widow and is interested in selling the land at an auction. Because she decides to
sell the land at an expensive price, the poor farmer Bull Mccabe is pushed into a very
uncomfortable situation in which his desperation gets the best of him, which
ultimately leads to his involvement in a murder. A question arises from this man s
predicament: Were his actions acceptable? Just because someone becomes
helplessly desperate, doesn t mean that they must commit murder in order to
fulfill their temporary desires. I believe that what Bull Maccabe has done was a
result pure desperation which was not in any way justifiable. Murder is a line that
should never be crossed except in particular circumstances. Ethically, it wouldn t
be feasible to argue taking someone s life unless it is to defend your own. The idea
of murder is concept that globally, is well understood as undeniably wrong. It
should only be used as a last resort or self defense, as in the act of war. Only in
these situations would killing someone be an option. Not only are these cases ones
where you can no guilt afterwards, but you wouldn t even face the repercussions.
Bull is so frustrated with how he s going to lose his valuable land that he even calls
William a thief: Now this robber comes from nowhere and he s nothing less than a
robber . The author here
Private Vs. Public Sin In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel...
The changing imagery of each of the three scaffold scenes presents Hawthorne s
idea of private vs. public sin. Using different visual elements such as light and
placement, Hawthorne s imagery creates a separation of each scene (and character)
for the reader. This idea is carried out through the portrayal of Dimmesdale and
Hester, each with their own kind of sin to endure. In the first scaffold scene,
Hawthorne exemplifies Hester s public sin as she stands in the exposure of daylight,
facing a crowd of townspeople, her embroidered A visible to all. Her shame is very
much public, with societies reactions and judgements ringing loudly throughout the
scenes description. This is seen as the town gossips speak about Hester amongst
themselves, enforcing the ideas of shame upon her character.... Show more content on

The scene focuses on Reverend Dimmesdale, standing alone on the scaffold in the
dark of night They would have discerned no face above the platform, nor hardly the
outline of a human shape, in the dark grey of midnight. (134) Dimmesdale s sin is
private, his guilt and suffering internal, yet constantly eating away at him. His
attempt to repent, however noble, becomes fundamentally weak as he stands in the
dark, still veiling his sin from the public, therefore unable to heal his pain. Hester
however, through the public incrimination of her own sins, has become stronger, able
to cope. Dimmesdale speaking to Hester, exclaims, Happy are you, Hester, that wear

Chapter 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing
plenty of forms, to getting cleared, enlisting subjects, and scheduling. Some schools
even have subject advisement before and after the enlistment phase. All these
processes were done manually and were very time consuming. Now however, with
the option of porting all these operations over the internet, they have become faster to
do, more convenient, and easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems
for clearance, enlistment, and classroom management of Cosmopoint International
Institute of Technology (CIIT) and propose an online system to manage these tasks. It
will discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
( http://www.ciit ph.com/ About Us page)
Executive Summary
The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if
they are eligible to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester.
Students will login to the website and they can view all the subjects they have already
taken, their grades on these subjects, subjects that they are eligible to take for the
next trimester, the schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects, and the
student s clearance status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that
he is eligible to take for the next trimester. He will also be able to choose the
schedule of the said subjects if there is more than one class being offered. After
picking the subjects and schedule, he will be shown a completed assessment form
that he can print out. He will then bring this form to the school registrar where he
can pay the necessary fees and be officially enrolled. Professors of CIIT will be
able to upload their students grades online. School administrators can change a
student s clearance status online for any reason that they see fit. Actions done will
be logged. All these processes are currently being done manually by CIIT. It is
tedious and time consuming for a lot of the students and the school s registrar office.
The Online Enlistment and Clearance System aims to replace these with an easier

Essay on Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
One of the fundamental questions that religions seek to answer is that of origin.
How was man put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him?
What does his creation imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these
questions are answered by a religion s creation stories. Every religion s creation
myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Because
of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of those different
from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give.
Genesis
In the Western world, the most well known creation story is in Genesis (Myth A), in
the Old Testament of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an
ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and
woman together, man was created first, from the dust of the ground after which God
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then, while Adam was sleeping, God
took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman.
Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than
the afore mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man
was created to rule over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and
let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth
upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man was created because there
was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to why man
was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I,
man is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created
merely as a servant of the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans,
tend to take the first interpretation as indication of man s role on earth, believing him
to be superior to all other species.
Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other
quite well.
Why Is Cultural Imperialism Wrong
Europe swept into many underdeveloped countries and colonized them. Europe
introduced these nations to modern technology and Christianity. Some would even
say that Europe saved these underdeveloped nations. What those people don t
understand is that these countries were overthrown. These nations were the
unwilling victims of imperialization. As a result, they were forced to give up their
land, adhere to a new government and new religion, and those who didn t obey were
murdered in cold blood. Imperialismis wrong and no country has the right to impose
their values on another. Although Europemade excuses for the colonization of other
nations, there is no valid reasoning for their actions. It was wrong of them to
overthrow nations as they did.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James Petras states, We must reconsider the profound psychological impact of state
violence, political terror, and the deep penetration of cultural / ideological values
propagated by the imperial countries and internalized by the oppressed peoples.
The victims of cultural imperialism become inherently fearful than their oppressor
and the oppressors become arrogant and of the belief that they are superior to the
oppressed nation and its people. James Petras goes on to say, The state violence of
the 1970s and early 1980s created long term, large scale psychic damage fear of
radical initiatives, distrust of collectives, a sense of impotence before established
authorities even as the same authorities are hated. The violence committed during
colonized creates a fear in the people, they become helpless and lose all hope. Many
would argue that imperialism is not oppression, that in fact, Europe is doing these
nations a favor by introducing these nations to modern technology and Christianity.
This argument is simply wrong. The countries being colonized are not wanting of
these modern technologies and practice their own religions. Forcing these things on
an unwilling nation results in oppression and blood
Transactional Leadership Paper
Introduction
Two of the most common and popular leadership approaches are transformational
and transactional. Although transactional is more commonly used in business, it has
fallen out of favor for the more holistic technique of transformational leadership.
Leadership styles can change with time and knowledge, a leader could have started
their career using one style and by the end that same leader could be utilizing a
completely different style. This means that we as leaders have choices and we can
learn from our experiences and help others to grow along with us.
Transformational and transactional leadership will only bring about specific outcomes,
if leaders deem these outcomes important in the first place, because otherwise they
may not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, they foster inspiration and anticipation to put extra labor to achieve
common goals (Zareen, Razzaq, Mujtaba, 2015, p 535). Transactional leadership does
not offer many opportunities to help bring along or promote others, but still has a
meaningful place in certain situations. More transformational leadership is needed in
my organization, my colleagues and I are seeing more of our leadership, saying many
transformational taglines, but their actions are incongruent with their words.
Transformational leaders are not afraid to take personal risks; they emphasize
progress, change, and innovation (Hamstra, et al, 2014, p 644). I am hopeful that
what I am learning and my gaining passion to become a more influential leader using
transformational leadership techniques. Knowing where my strengths and
preferences lie, will allow me show what can be accomplished with mutual respected
and shared expectations rather treating people like they are unthinking unfeeling
robots. Mixing multiple leadership styles depending on the situation the leader is
encountering appears to be the most well rounded option, yet a leader still must have
a base preference where they start and return, mine is clearly in the transformational
leadership
Examples Of Bold Actions
Bold actions are uncommon terms for extraordinary acts of courage and even
heroism. People live their lives doing regular, routine things. They fear trying
anything different, so they are unable to experience what a bold action can do for
them or how such actions can make them feel. Others live fearlessly through their
occupations, such as firefighters or policeman. These, are the type of people
others can look up to. Exposing themselves can come with great risk, but also great
rewards for themselves and even others. Therefore, I believe that bold actions can
influence and benefit others positively and often even yourself. By committing a
bold action in public, you can influence others to do daring things beyond their
comfort zone. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, the main protagonist,
Ponyboy, and his friend Johnny rescued several children from a burning church in
Windrixville. Ponyboy was actually the one who got Johnny to come in and save
them, Pony charged in and Johnny was soon to follow. When they rushed in it
surprised many people because Ponyboy and Johnny were greasers who were
notoriously known for being drunks and no good criminals. Everyone was
astonished by their valiant actions and didn t even think about them being greasers
. Even a Soc (who are supposed to be better than greasers) named Randy, who
previously despised greasers talked to Pony, saying that he was shocked that they
had saved the children because he wasn t sure he would have done it
Grease Movie Analysis
I chose to write this project on the movie Grease. Growing up, this was my favorite
movie. I chose to write about this movie because I haven t watched it since I was a
child, and wanted to look back and reflect if there was anything I hadn t picked up
when I was younger watching this movie. The movie was made in 1978 by director
Randal Kleiser, and was based on high school teens in the 50 s. Since it was based in
the 50 s and most of us grew up watching this famous movie, I thought that there had
to be social norms and stereotypes written and performed throughout the whole
movie. The movie stars the famous actor John Travolta, who was a very young and
upcoming actor in the 70 s. Since this was created in the late 70 s, there was a big
push for equal rights of gays and lesbians going on in the real world at this time. I
thought this movie would be a great example of gender, and other social political
conflicts to help shape younger kids in the way we are supposed to be .
The intro to the whole movie is a little cartoon. It starts out with a cartoon version
of Danny, who John Travolta plays, waking up in a dirty room, which shows the
classic stereotype that boys are very messy and not put together. Next shows Sandy,
the main character waking up all perfect and pretty, almost like a princess. She
wakes up with animals helping her get ready, just like Cinderella. This adds on to
another massive stereotype that women are expected to be pretty and proper 24/7.

Transhumanism And Open Bionics
Freddie Mercury once asked, with the voice of a whistling rocket, Who wants to live
forever? [1]. This song was written for the sci fi action film Highlander (1986), the
story of immortal swordsmen fighting in New York City [2]. However, this is a work
of fiction and fantasy. To truly surpass the bounds of humanity, to live potentially live
forever, we must look to science and technology. Research into prosthetic bodies and
implants provides the scaffolding for controlled evolution. Nevertheless, such
enhancements are not amoral. We must examine the implications of human
enhancement before taking our first steps into Transhumanism.

Due to its interest in technology and pro social causes, Google in this scenario
could be a potential investor in Open Bionics. Until recently, its corporate motto was

signals benevolence[10]. More importantly, Google s Calico project researches
solutions for aging, which is seen as a disease and threat to humanity [11]. While
Calico is more theoretical than practical its findings are not publicly disclosed its
motive and potential outcomes are laden with age defying insight [11]. Its ambitions
stop short of immortality, but the quantification and manipulation of the aging
process is of direct Transhumanist interest and therefore laden with its

The Congress Debates Over Immigration Reform
After hearing the news, I felt as if my worries were crawling right back up to my
shoulders. As if I was at the top of the mountain and then had someone push back
down. Finding out that the Senate has plans to take down the DACA was as if they
were closing the doors to my success. As the Congress debates over immigration
reform, August the 15th marks the second anniversary of the Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. On the 15th of August 2012, President Obama
began a policy calling for deferred action towards certain young individuals who
came to the United Statesas children and are known as Dreamers(LOGOS). This
policy allows this group of people to have similar rights that are initially reserved for
the citizens of the United States, like applying for employment or having a social
security. The Daca program also secures the young dreamers from deportation.
The Senate wants to eliminate the DACA program, but I believe that it s crucial to
keep it because there are many young students that need it to continue to succeed.
Which should not be done away with even after Obama s administration s time runs
out.
I have to say that I am one of the beneficiaries of the DACA program relief. I am a
DACA student as well. It is an undeniable fact that most of the immigrants in the
United States came from their countries of origin not out of choice, but because of
trials and tribulations. Reasons for leaving their homelands vary, but the most
common are civil war
Hemophilia
Introduction to Hemophilia
Hemophilia is term coined by Johann Schönlein is derived for Greek and Latin
words that refer to one who loves to bleed or hemorrhage (Carson DeWitt, 2014).
Hemophilia is a disorder in the body s mechanism of clotting. In simpler terms,
people afflicted with hemophilia have a risk of bleeding out from minor injuries.
Types of Hemophilia
There are three types of hemophilia (hemophilia A, hemophilia B, hemophilia C).
Hemophilia A is more common and it is caused by a deficiency of factor VIII
(Carson DeWitt, 2014). This deficiency can vary in severity. This is why each case
of Hemophilia varies in each case. Most people have severe Hemophilia which means
that the factor is functioning at a hundredth of what it should be. ... Show more

Hemophilia like many diseases doesn t have a cure at the moment. There are
treatment plans available. A doctor will prescribe transfusions usually. Factor
replacement therapy injects the missing factor into the system which immediately
provides the missing blood clotting factor the afflicted person is missing. These
transfusions can be made from human blood or blood from an animal. When the
transfusion is from a human, the proteins extracted for the transfusion are
sterilized to prevent any blood related diseases. When the transfusion is taken from
an animal, the factor desired to be produced is injected into the animal, so it can
then produce large amounts of it. After that, the factor is extracted and it is then
stabilized so it can be used in humans. The reason why a doctor must be seen for
hemophiliacs to be treated is that, hemophilia varies in severity from case to case.
This is because every person produces a different amount of the blood clotting
factor. One hemophiliac may produce 15% of what a normal person produces while
another hemophiliac may produce only 1% of what a normal person produces (HoG)
. The amount and regularity of transfusions depend on severity of

A Rose for Emily Vs. A Worn Path
In the pages of the short stories, A Worn Path and A Rose for Emily we are able to
see a similar side and connection between the two. As we look at the theme, tone, and
morals we are able to better grasp the conflict in these two stories, while detecting
whether the two protagonists, Miss Emily and Phoenix Jackson are psychologically
splintered.
The main moral in A Worn Pathis the love, and life of Phoenix Jackson. Though
quite old and suffering from infirmities, Phoenix Jackson regularly walks a long
distance to obtain medicine for her grandchild. Even in cold weather, when the
frozen earth is slippery, she makes the trip. Her journey the worn path she follows.
(Welty ) The path she travels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same goes for Phoenix, maybe if the story was told in a first person point of
view we would know if they are crazy or sane, because we could get into their mind
and tell what it is they were thinking. Early on a cold December morning, an old
Negro woman taps along with her cane on a path through a pine forest. (Welty )
For instance, we don t know what Phoenix was thinking as she walked down the
path, in the cold, as she journeyed to reach the town just for that medicine. For
Emily we could tell clearly if she was insane when she killed the man in her house
by her thoughts and emotions. So the next day we all said, She will kill herself ; and
we said it would be the best thing. (Faulkner ) In that statement even the people of the
town felt something even worse was wrong with her and that the only and best
solution would be to kill her own self. The conflict in A Worn Path is the battle
between not only human vs. human but also human vs. nature. The battle of human
vs. human lives in the mind of Phoenix but we have little insight of that because of
how the story is told in a third person not her mind. The next is human vs. nature
because of the trials Phoenix has on the trail with the bumps, rocks, ditches, hunters,
dogs, and etcetera.
As a result in these two stories A Worn Path and A Rose for Emily we see the
similarities that linger in the mind of humans and the way they act to the observing
eye. There are several things that are the
How Did Rasputin Influence The Paranoia
THE PARANOIA AROUND THE RUSSIAN MYSTIC INFLUENCER GRIGORI
EFIMOVICH RASPUTIN WAS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR THAT LED TO THE
RUSSIAN REVOLUTION. Rasputin was a Russian mystic/holy man who was
close to the Tsar Nicolas II of Russia and his family from 1906 1916. It was
believed that Rasputin had a special relationship with the Tsarina Alexandra
Feodoronva and had some sort of influence over her decisions. Due to people s
paranoia, they slowly distrusted, and subsequently overthrew, the Russian
government under the Romanov Dynasty, which had ruled since 1613. This distrust
and fear led way for the murder of the Tsar and his family. All this set into motion the
development of the Soviet Union, Berlin Wall, and the Communist party.

The common people no longer trusted the Tsar to keep them safe, they could have
faith no longer. Prince Felix Yusupov, who was married to the Tsar s niece Princess
Irina Alexandrovna of Russia, decided to take matters into his own hands. He lured
Rasputin to his home, though how he did this is unclear. It is generally believed,
however, that Rasputin thought he would be meeting Yusupov s attractive wife.
Yusupov laced pastries and wine with cyanide, enough to kill several men.
Rasputin ate and drank, but did not die, in fact it seemed, the poison had no effect.
Still, Yusupov was determined and shot Rasputin in the back. Rasputin fell to the
floor, and with no pulse or signs of life, was presumed dead. A while later, when
Yusupov and his friends had been celebrating upstairs, Yusupov decided to check on
the body. Rasputin opened his eyes which were allegedly green like a viper. Yusupov
and company chased Rasputin, shooting him two more times and beating him with a
rubber club. They then tied him up and tossed him into the Neva River. Rasputin s
death is shrouded in mystery, as it seems he got free of the binds enough to outstretch
his arm, though he had apparently been shot in the head. The autopsy report listed his
cause of death as hypothermia, furthering the legend that Rasputin may have been a
real magic man. (Cristen)
Rasputin reportedly said before his death, If it was one of your relations who
Monet Essays
Monet
Over the years there have been many respectable artists but one of the most famous
of these artists would have to have been French impressionist Claude Oscar Monet.
Monet was born on Nov. 14, 1840 in Paris, France and started showing an
appreciation for art at an early age. When he was nineteen Monet decided that he
wanted to attend art school and soon after that he entered the studio of Charles Glegre.
While he was there he met and worked with other respectable artists such as Frederic
Bazille, Auguset Renoir, and Alfred Sisley.

In the early 1870 s Monet and other Impressionists were in desperate need to sell
some paintings so in 1874 they decided to appeal directly to the public and had the
first of many Impressionist exhibitions. The shows lasted a month and although it
drew a large crowd not many paintings were actually sold.
As the years progressed so did Monet s technique. By the mid 1880 s he had achieved
much recognition and he was also, finally, financially secure. At the fourth
Impressionist exhibition in 1879, which took place in Paris, there was a huge
turnout and for the time a profit was made. Although a profit had been made Monet
decided not to display his work in the fifth Impressionist exhibition and instead he
submitted two of his works to the Salon. After this move business picked up for
Monet. The owner of the Salon, Georges Petit, purchased three of his
III paintings and in 1880 he had his first one man show. One year later Durand Ruel
signed a contract with Monet, which committed him to purchase a

The Millionaire Next Door Analysis
The Millionaire Next Door is insightful book for those wanting to understand how

social status, not relying on your parents for money, having children who are self
sufficient, and choosing the right occupation. From these points the most the top
three most valuable in my opinion are living below your income, manage your time
and money efficiently, living independently is more important than showing high
social status, having children who are self sufficient, this is technically four but I

Informative Essay On Drones
Drones, an unmanned aircraft or ship that can be controlled by an onboard computer
or remote. A technology that has great advancements in recent years, though drones
are nothing new. The first official drone dates to France in 1782 with the
Montgolfier Brothers; they sent unmanned balloons out prior to testing with
individuals on board. While nothing like modern drones, this is the first example of
an unmanned vehicle. Fast forward in time to 1860, Nikola Tesla had developed a
radio controlled boat, the first remote controlled vehicle. The basic idea had become
developed for the modern drone. After Tesla, drone technology continued being
developed, though mainly for war; from unmanned balloons filled with bombs to

Regulation plays a large part in the practicality of delivery drones, especially in the
United States. Current FAA regulation places several restrictions on drone
deliveries. Part 107 of the current FAA s regulations on drones causes drones to
have top be: in the line of sight of the pilot, not controlled autonomously, each pilot
can only control one drone at a time and it cannot be controlled from a moving
vehicle. For these reasons alone drone deliveries are highly impractical as not only
will the individual have to live very close to the deployment center, but also large
fleets of delivery drones would be impossible due to needing an individual pilot
per drone. Additional regulations exist though beyond the FAA s, such as local and
state regulations. Current regulations simply do not promote drone deliveries (
Drone Delivery 3 Big Legal Problems , 2018). The second large hurdle for delivery
drones, infrastructure. Drones do not handle well in cities and in forested areas due
to interference. A drone would require a landing pad that would not only prevent
unwanted individuals from getting the delivery but also pets. Additionally, drones
would operate under 400 feet in the air, which currently does not have any form of air

Cover Up Culture
The Culture of Cover Up The culture of cover up has integrated itself vastly into the
healthcare system and has become a pandemic. According to Gibson and Singh
(2003), currently in the United States, there are no easily accessible and effective
systems in place to keep record of healthcare providers that are deemed incompetent
to practice medicine. Gibson and Singh (2003) made mention of the National
Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) that was established in 1986 by Congress, but the
biggest problems were that it was inaccessible to the public and had many internal
errors, such as duplication. Therefore, the core issue still remains; the culture of
cover up is still in existence. Nursing Informatics and Technology As nurses,

New innovations are being created every year to help improve and protect patients
from reckless and preventable errors. As healthcare providers, it is our duty to
provide care ethically and to do no harm to our patients. On the contrary, the culture
of cover up still continues to exist today and although technology and informatics has
progressively increased quality care, it has not completely eradicated errors. Integrity
is the key component for every healthcare provider, along with other characteristics.
Therefore, disclosing medical errors with our patients is imperative and our patients
and their families deserve to know what occurred during their time of care.
Technology is not able to prevent every mishap that causes patients harm (Gibson

JRSB 309 Corporate Governance
February 11, 2013
Introduction In the aftermath of major scandals and bailouts in the United States, the
world`s and the public s confidence in public corporations, has been shaken. With
the publicized scandals of Enron and other corporations in the United States, the
faith in public corporations fell as fast as the stock market. Investors had no
confidence in corporations or in their boards. Measures needed to be taken to form
regulations to provide stronger accountability, to prevent these types of scandals from
happening and to rebuild the confidence of investors. Corporate governance of

This led to the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) of 2002. SOX focused on corporate
governance issues within a firm and led to rules of practice for boards of directors.
Although SOX does not have mandates for executive compensation it does address
how the compensation committee should be independent and how they should
govern themselves. This has become very critical legislation to aid in ethical practices
in public corporation executive compensation (Bruvik amp; Whitney Gibson, 2011).
Current Trends in Executive Compensation The main foundation of executive
compensation has not changed, it is designed to attract, inspire, motivate and in the
end retain the superior talent in the management world. In 2008 a government fund
TARP was created to purchase troubled assets from financial institutions (Bruvik
amp; Whitney Gibson, 2011, p. 79). TARP funds put restrictions on executive
compensation by; restricting paying out bonuses, limiting the Golden Parachutes ,
denial of benefits and used clawbacks if executive compensation was based on
misleading statements (Bruvik amp; Whitney Gibson, 2011). In order to receive
TARP funding, firms have to practice the US mandatory Say on Pay which was
implemented in January 2011. The United Kingdom has also implemented the Say
on Pay concept. The Say on Pay is a concept that shareholders should be given a
nonbinding vote on board of director s

Introduction: The acceleration toward the center that keeps objects in uniform
circular motion (circular motion at a constant speed) is called centripetal acceleration.
An understanding of centripetal acceleration was one of the key elements that led to
Newton s formulation of the law of universal gravitation.
Question: How is centripetal acceleration related to radius, mass, and velocity?

Differences Between The American And The Haitian
Revolution
The 18th and early 19th centuries were times of great development and turmoil in the
Americas., as fledgling nations fought against colonial powers for their right to
sovereignty. Two of these nations, the United States and Haiti achieved independence
through a mixture of warfare and diplomacy, with dynamic leadership also critical to
their success. The difference between them was surrounding race, as Haitian slaves
fought for freedom as well as independence. Military altercations were key during
both the Haitian revolution and the revolutionary war in the United States. North
American battles with the British began in 1775 with the Battles of Lexington and
Concord and didn t end until 1781, with a decisive victory won over the British...

By 1792, the French had sent troops in to try and restore order. These battles
differed from the battles in the United States because they centered on ideas of
racial equality. Poorly treated slaves and angry mixed race citizens fought not only
for their right to have an independent nation, but for a literal freedom and equality
for themselves. When Toussaint L Overture, a former slave, took over the Haitian
armies in 1793, he was fighting both the British and the French, two armies fighting
to possess an island rich in resources, including the slaves who were fighting against
them. He was a powerful leader and an intelligent military strategist, and his capacity
to control the rebelling slaves greatly improved their organization. Battles with the
French dragged on until 1803, when Napoleon no longer had the resources to sustain
the warfare and withdrew his troops. By 1804, Haiti was an independent republic
governed by Jean Jacques Dessalines, who in a final expression of racial tension had
the remaining white citizens massacred. Both the United States and Haiti helped
secure their independence through successful military campaigns, but Haiti s
independence had race as a focal point in a way colonists of the United States did not
Refreshments And Food In The 1920s
Refreshments and foods during the 1920s were the heart of the parties during this
time. Without good refreshments and foods a party was not complete. Things that I
will touch on include prohibition, how prohibition affected refreshments, things
caused from prohibition, 1920s foods, refreshments, and cocktails. These things
together were the main parts involving around refreshments and foods during the
1920s. Nevertheless, I will start on the igniter that created a lot of attention around
refreshments, which is Prohibition. In 1919 a law was passed that outlawed the sale,
manufacture, and transportation of liquor throughout the states. This law was the
18th amendment and was enforced at the start of 1920. The main reasoning behind
passing the amendment was to reduce crime and corruption, improve health and
hygiene, and solve social issues within the country. Another problem that was meant
to be solved by the amendment, was to reduce the tax burden that was created by
poorhouses and prisons. These problems that the 18th amendment was meant to fix
worked initially but the rebellion because of this new rule was not taken into
consideration. This thought leads into the effect of prohibition on refreshments after
a year of being a law. Prohibition created a huge push for alcohol which really
sparked a want for refreshments and to party. Alcohol consumption started to increase
as people rebelled against the 18th amendments. This increase in the consumption of
alcohol led to
The Hunger Of World Hunger
World Hunger
Imagine not being able to reach into your refrigerator and pull out a snack. Think
about those mornings when you forget to eat breakfast and your stomach is
growling the whole morning. Now imagine not being able to suppress that feeling.
Imagine feeling that hunger day after day. This is reality for almost a sixth of the
world s population. Is there any good news? Yes there is. There are many ways for us
to reduce world hunger. This essay will look at the causes of world hunger as well as
short term, and long term, solutions. World hunger can be solved using a combination
of ideas and people working together.
In the first world there are 9 million people suffering from hunger. In Canada, the
HungerCount survey, organized by Food Banks Canada, counted the number of
people using food banks and analysed their living conditions. The hunger issue in
Canada has to do with poverty. Only 6% of food bank users own their own home.
Even with social assistance, which over 50% of food bank users are receiving as
their main source of income, these people cannot meet their basic needs. Child
hunger is also an issue in Canada, where 37% of food bank users are children.
When a household s income is too low, the children suffer. Many parents don t have
the time to take care of their children and work at the same time. Although these
facts are about Canada, there are the similar issues facing people all over the first
world.

The Physics of Roller Coasters Essay
The Physics of Roller Coasters
The roller coaster has its beginnings in Russia where during the 1600 s. People
crafted sleds out of wood and built hills made of ice blocks. The hills had sand at the
bottom to help slow down the sleds so they would not crash when they reached the
bottom of the hill.1 Over time, the roller coaster has become more complex. They
now are taller, faster and are designed out of different materials like wood and steel.
Although roller coasters are fun and exciting, the questions, what allows them to
twist and turn, go up and down hills at a fairly good speed? Why do they not fall
off of the track when it goes through a loop? The answer to these questions and
others about roller coasters lies in the application ... Show more content on

Then as the coaster begins its decent down the first hill, the energy is converted back
into kinetic energy as the train is pulled toward the Earth by gravity. Gravity is the
traditional source of power for roller coasters that accelerates the train as it goes on
its hilly, twisty journey.3 Gravity is a unit of acceleration, that is always present,
that causes free falling objects on Earth to change their speed at a rate of
approximately 10 m/s (32ft/s) every second.1 So, as the train goes down the hills of
the track it has a positive acceleration giving it the necessary potential energy to
climb the next hill, make a turn, or travel through a loop.
Also, as the train goes down the hills and loops, it experiences a free fall effect.
This occurs when an object falls and is not inhibited by other objects2 (314 315).
As the train goes down the hill, the coasters mass causes it to accelerate faster than
the people in the car. During the free fall stages of the ride the train does not exert
any pressure on the riders or the track causing the riders to feel momentarily
weightlessness. This is why the train has wheels on the bottom of the track and the
passengers of the train have some sort of restraining device to hold them into their
seats.3 So, as the train goes down the hill it is actually falling, causing the velocity of
the train to increase due to the
The Importance Of Social Justice
Eliezer Yudkowsky once said, You are personally responsible for becoming more
ethical than the society you grew up in. This quote represents the initiative I plan on
taking to promote social justice. Though I have yet to make a humongous
contribution to the progress of society, I am steadily working towards it. The need
for social justice is everywhere due to the acts of injustice that people, primarily
minorities, face every day. This includes police brutality, racism, and discrimination.
That being said, action must be taken and I will do my part by starting in my own
community Atlanta, GA. On July 7th, 2016, Michael George Smith Jr. was found
hanging from a tree in Piedmont Park. Policeruled his death as a suicide, but of
course everyone, including myself, suspected foul play. In addition to Michael s
death, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were both killed earlier that week. Both
whom were unarmed and not disturbing any peace, yet were still shot and killed by
the police. In response to all three of their deaths, protests erupted throughout
downtown Atlanta. The day of the protest, my grandma and I were both watching the
news, seeing everything that was happening. In the midst of us watching the news,
she mumbled damn, 50 years later and ain t nothing changed . It then began to dwell
on me that when it comes to police brutality, protesting has not changed anything.
Even back in 1992, when the LA riots occurred after the Rodney Kingbeating, the
Paper Mache Research Paper
Art is perhaps the best way on the planet to show and describe feelings. For many
people art is nothing but color on paper, but in truth it is so much more. To be able
to properly understand a work of art, which could be a sculpture, painting, drawing
etc. You must first be able to understand how the artist has expressed themselves. So
we are going to take this one step at a time and look at one of the most popular type
of sculpture. Papermache. Paper mache comes from the combination of French
syllables, papier mache meaning chewed paper. The art form gets its name from it s
wet, soggy appearance. The composite material can be made from paper or pulp. In
Ancient Egypt, many of the facemasks and caskets were made from crushed up

For those of you who don t know what a pinata is, it is basically a paper mache
animal or toy that you hollow out and fill with candy. Then you put on a blindfold
and hit it with a bat until the candy comes out. This tradition first originated from
Spain except you would fill the pinata with toys or other small trinkets instead of
candy.
For those of you who are new to art. It is not easy. Frustration can be very common,
especially when you sculpt in paper mache. I have done paper mache before and
know it to be very unforgiving if you make a mistake. A couple examples of things
you want to avoid are: thin spots on your project, (cave in s), Not too much solution,
(Can wreck your base), And painting before your sculpture is dry.
Like I said at the start of this essay. Art is a wonderful way to express yourself in
many ways: visual, photographic, sculpting (3D) etc. but one thing everyone must
keep in mind is that no piece of art is perfect. If you make a mistake that is just
fine, you are not a professional. And if you are, well good for you. But what I am
trying to say is that not just anyone can fully grasp or understand art. As all my
teachers say. It s okay not to know, however it isn t okay not to
1906 Earthquakes Report
On April 18, 1906 a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the city of San Francisco,
California at 5:18 in the morning. Major fires followed the quake, and burned down
the city for several days, as the firefighters had no water source to kill the fires. How
did this earthquake happen? The answer: The 1906 earthquakeoccurred because of
movement along the San Andreas Fault. Earthquakes are constantly happening in
different places and because of various reasons. Scientists are constantly working to
understand earthquakes and the reasons for their occurrences. Although some people
think earthquakes have simple causes, they may be interested to know that
earthquakes are caused by movement along faults, hydraulic fracking, and volcanic
eruptions.
The most common cause of earthquakes is movement along faults. Earth s crust is
divided into tectonic plates, which grind past each other at fault boundaries. As
tectonic plates move, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fracking is the process in which large amounts of water, sand, and other chemicals
are injected into rock formations in order to release natural gases. Scientists believe
that this process of injecting wastewater underground activates dormant faults.
Although earthquakes from this process are rare, they are largely increasing in
number and magnitude throughout the United States. For example, Oklahoma s
seismic activity was seventy times greater in 2013 than before 2008. Before those
years, Oklahoma had an average of one and a half earthquakes with a magnitude
three or greater each year. Currently, Oklahoma has an average of two and a half
earthquakes everyday with a magnitude of three or greater. Fracking is a very
important and rapidly growing cause of earthquakes. Places that never experienced
earthquakes may begin seeing earthquakes as a very common occurrence. Hydraulic
fracking, a human action, can cause earthquakes, but many earthquakes occur from
natural disasters, such as volcanic

THE NEW CUSTOMER SEGMENTATION AND ITS BENEFITS
Dow Corning success to date is driven by its relationship with customers. A lot more
could be achieved through this relationship by further understanding the customers
and this is exactly what this new needs based segmentation scheme was able to
achieve.
Dow Corning previously believed industry groupings were the most ideal way to
serve its diverse customers base, but it was with this new needs based segmentation it
revealed more about its customers and improved the way customers are served.
Firstly, exact needs of customers were revealed with this new segmentation method.
While Dow Corning certainly would know its customers before this segmentation
change, but because previously segmentation was done by industry groups, Dow
Corning would approach its clients with the mindset on what does the industry need ,
and not what does the customer really needs . For example, under the Innovative
solution segment, these customers are pioneers in their respective markets, they are
the trend setters, and the silicone products that were used and sold by Dow Corning
to the industry at present would not meet its needs. What these customers really need
from Dow Corning is joint R amp;D, the service and expertise,

Misery Movie Analysis
Misery is a movie based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. The movie
adaptation was directed by Rob Reiner and released on November 30, 1990. The
movie is about a famous writer, Paul Sheldon who created the popular Misery series.
He finished the first drafts of all his books in the Silver Creek Lodge in Colorado. He
just finished his new novel Fast Cars and is heading back to New York to get his
manuscript printed when his car crashes in Colorado. Paul is pulled out of the
wreckage by a woman named Annie Wilkes, who is his number one fan. She takes
him back to her home and nurses him back to health. Annie s obsession takes a
dark turn when she discovers Paul kills off her favourite character from his Misery
novels. As Sheldon makes a plan to try and escape, Annie grows more controlling
and violent as she forces the author to write a new book to suit her corrupt fantasies.

that Im thinking of is the black swan. In history so many people have tried to predict

FEMA couldn t provide shelter and food for those who needed it. Thousands of
people of New Orleans and parts of Mississippi were not helped. This made me
realize if an organization like FEMA wants to be successful in the future they need to
have System thinking as one of their key focus. This will help them when an another
natural disaster like Katrina comes. Senge states that System thinking is a discipline
for seeing the structures that underlie complex situations, and for discerning high
from low leverage change. That is, by seeing wholes we learn how to foster health.
(Senge 69). If a complex organization uses system thinking in every decision that has
to be made then many problem can be cut down and that means you can limit the
uncertain failures that come with a complex organization. The organization has to
make sure that they are prepared and ready for any problem that is thrown at them.
System thinking can help an organization be successful at the end of the day.
The one thing that be very important is strategies which helps cut down the
unforeseen failures within complex organizations. The complex organizations will
face failures without planning properly or without having great guidance from a
leader. Perfect examples of how to cut down risk for complex organizations is the
way Thad Allen approach the rescue missions of Hurricane Katrina. An organization

Stability In Somalia
Abstract
This paper is about the humanitarian mission in Somalia that turned into an effort to
rebuild a nation. It explains how the U.S. military initially entered to assist with the
humanitarian efforts but the scope of the mission changed when United Nations
personnel were killed. It also focuses on why the United States military went after the
leader of the Habr Gidr clan, Muhammad Farah Aidid, who was responsible for the
deaths and killings that occurred during the humanitarian mission. The United Task
Force was developed allowing the United States to finally capture and arrest,
Muhammad Farah Aidid, which is explained in Black Hawk Down.

unsuccessful planning and lack of oversight that was associated with the mission.
General Garrison made point 4: Enemy situation was well known. Proximity to

they necessarily did not come out in the results desired. Bowden also talks about the
point of how the men could have possibly fought back: There is no doubt that
Garrison s men if so ordered, would have tried to fight their way out, but they stayed
Marx s Conflict And Social Conflict Theory In Hong Kong

class conflict (bourgeoisie and proletariat). The rising of capitalism in the society

powerful minority class oppresses the majority class and created class conflict. As the
interests of the two were at odds, the resources were inequitable distributed among the
two classes. Moreover, the inequitable social order was developed; values,
expectations and conditions were determined by the more powerful minority class,
i.e. the capitalists (Collins Sanderson, 2008). Marx stated that the superstructure is

Pape And Suicide Terrorism Chapter 2 Analysis
Pape tries to convey his ideas by explaining the meaning and history of terrorism in
chapter two. Terrorist groups have many things in commons. The terrorist groups are
weaker than their opponents. The modern suicide terrorism is lethal because the
terrorist purpose is not only to die, but to kill others. Pape states that his account
about suicide terrorismshould not be treated as a general explanation for terrorism.
Pape wrote that terrorism has two purposes: to gain supporters and to persuade
opponents. There are many types of terrorism, but Pape talks about the one that are
more important such as demonstrative terrorism, which seeks publicity, destructive
terrorism, which seeks to influence and persuade through injury, and to gain support,

Americans believe that anti American terrorism can be stopped only by wholesale
transformation of Muslim societies, a belief that helped create public support of the
invasion of Iraq (Pape pg. 102). Pape states that the suicide attacks are not because of
religion, but terrorists want to withdraw the democratic force from their home.
Terrorists do not want foreign occupation to change their values like the United States
is trying to do with Iran. Foreign occupation includes when a state takes control of a
territory, and military occupation. In other words, the foreign states are responsible
for the suicide attacks because they occupy a foreign countries. The citizen of those

Producing and Selling Organic Compost Material
INTRODUCTION The new venture that we have chosen is to produce and sell
organic compost material. The company s name will be CK fertilizers; it will be
located in the North Eastern part of Kalleh village, Madhya Pradesh. This will be the
first ever medium scale company to produce organic compost material in Madhya
Pradesh. The target consumers for the product will be farmers from the location
around the company, which is mainly Madhya Pradesh.
We chose this business plan mainly because of three reason; it is a profitable idea,
it is eco friendly and it will be the first medium scale organic compost production
company in Madhya Pradesh. Before deciding upon this plan we over looked at the
cost of establishment, operational cost, need for organic compost, agriculture of
Madhya Pradesh, weather of Kalleh village, target market, ratio of success rate, it
would help Indian agriculture, etc.
CK FERTILIZERS The company will cover 250 square meters of land in in the North
Eastern part of Kalleh village; it will have an organic waste recycling plant, a ware
house to store finished products and an office. It will be a medium scale industry.
Raw material mainly used will be organic waste material; these waste materials will
be decomposed in a matter of time and then made ready for distribution. This business
plan will require different equipment and vehicles to function. Vehicles like mini
trucks to transport and other machines to handle the compost.
Caproic Acid Synthesis Essay
Introduction In this lab, caproic acid was synthesized in a multi step process that
involved the synthesis of three intermediates diethyl n butylmalonate, potassium n

the starting material, n bromobutane, and the first intermediate, diethyl n
butylmalonate; while IR and NMR were used to characterize the final product,
caproic acid.
Reactions, Mechanism and Theory
Caproic acid a.k.a n hexanoic acid is a carboxylic acid derived from hexane which

Analysis Of The Poem The Waste Land
The first lines of T.S. Eliot s poem, The Waste Land, proclaim,
April is the cruelest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain (lines 1 4). 1 4)
This stanzaese ilines invokes a strange mix of hopeful images, layered with words
of despair.veiled beneath words of despair . Many would agree there is a clear
feeling of hopelessness throughout the poem; however, through poetic allusions to
redemption, glimpses of optimism are seen in Eliot s work, suggesting all may not
be lost. His references to the redeeming hellfire of Dante s Divine Comedy, and
transformation through tragedy in The Story of Tereus and Philomela, show that
Eliot perhaps holds onto a glimmer of hope for society s despondent
state.fordespondent state .
Eliot calls to our attention the degradation of society using the theme of lust
throughout The Waste Land. In A Game of Chess and again in The Fire Sermon, he
describes how sex has become an act devoid of meaning and emotion. The speakers
in these sections show how society has separated sex and love, stripping it of its
significance. However, in What the Thunder Said , Eliot points the way to
redemption. He quotes Dante stating, Poi s ascose nel foco che gli affina (line 427)
which translates to, Then he hid himself in the fire that refines them. The purifying
fire he speaks of comes from Canto 26 of Dante s Purgatorio . In this passage, Dante
is traveling through terrace seven
Relevance Of Mythology And Mythology
Mythology is a term widely used for the study of myths, the stories, the beliefs, the
understanding of the world through certain aspects narrated in oral tales to teach
values and ethics to the society. However, one does not find myth in contemporary
times rather it is a subject of the past of which no one is a witness. These mythical
tales have been passed down through generations never actually knowing the origin of
its creation. Myth usually has connotations of falsehood, unreasonable, irrationality
which makes the stories and the past related to it a mere lie or fiction. But if myth is
fictitious, then how could it serve the purpose of educating the masses about moral
values and ethics? During the 20th century, many researchers started coming up with
their views on the rationality of mythological stories. The revised definition of myth
said that myth is the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Individual Analysis
For the assignment of producing a six supplied line 180 second drama short film I
was tasked as the 1st Assistant director in our production Hidden . In my role
analysis I shall be examining my role as 1st AD going into depth of preparation,
research and contributions I made towards the short film. The main roles of the 1st
AD is to creating a shooting schedule, working with the director to decide a
shooting order, give directions to crew and actors and be aware of health and safety
whilst on set.
As the 1st AD I was the right hand person to the director, I had found out through
basic research that my role required me to help decide a shooting order and how
long each scene will take to film, creating a shooting ... Show more content on

The shooting schedule itself included all the necessary information needed to be
organised and to hopefully keep on track, these were timings, scene number, night or
day, location (Forest or House), short scene description, any props needed. The
printed schedule allowed space underneath for any notes to be added if timings or
schedules changed, this way I could alert the director of any required information.
On day one we did fall behind by two hours but I had told the group before hand
that I had schedule it so we could overrun by 2.5 hours if need be, even though we
didn t keep to schedule I still let the director and the crew know how behind on
time we were, what scenes were coming up and progress reports of the day. With
regards to lunch I checked with everyone on set for it to be pushed back a little to fit
in the morning scenes, even though it s annoying they were still happy that I had
checked with them beforehand adding to the approachable aspects of my role.
However when I found out we would be reshooting I should have created a second
shooting schedule so we could keep organised on day two, doing this would allow
the director to be certain on what shots needed to be re filmed and if any audio
needed to be captured. I did have notepad with some notes on shots but a shooting
schedule would have been more ordered and precise so we could have been there for
as little time as possible.

Literature On The Basic Household Model
In our last chapter we perused through the literature on the basic household model
which serves as the fulcrum upon which our research depends. In this chapter, we
attempt to present to the reader the framework upon which our research is based.
This is important for two reasons; apart from introducing the reader to the basic
theoretical framework which forms the heart of our research, it also gives a proper
introduction into our estimation procedure which we will discuss in Chapter seven.
1.2 The Basic Household Production Model
The underlying model upon which we premise our conceptual framework is the
formal household production model which has far reaching foundation in the
literature. Its foundation in the literature reaches as far back as Becker (1965), Lau
et al. (1978), Barnum et al. (1979), Singh et al. (1986); Pitt et al. (1985); and,
Omamo (1998) just to mention a few (chapter three explains further). However, this is
not the centre of our research.
In this chapter, we emphasize the basic household model as stipulated in Singh et al.
(1986 pages 17 19) and then modify it in order to suit the main objective of this
research. It is at this juncture we would want to remind the reader of the main aim of
our research.
Our research focuses on arriving at an estimate of the farmers production efficiency
and then using this estimate to obtain precise figures for the households willingness
to pay for malaria abatement. The reader should note that we would like to

Moreover, the proposal will address scheduling and command need for the
Windows network infrastructure to run efficiently and successfully now and for
the next two to three years. In order to fulfill and meet WAI s requirement and need
for the next three years, I will recommend and provide a great tool, which comes
and works well with the Windows Server 2012 and that is Hyper V. It is one of the
few tools with the features and services that meet this proposal s requirements. In
order to meet WAI s requirement, Hyper V needs to be deployed on all the servers
in its entire network. For host processors and memory to work properly, Hyper V
will deliver World Advertising, Inc. with prolonged support. Furthermore, Hyper V
will allow WAI to operate its new servers and continues on benefiting of new
hardware equipment and technology for its current and future virtualization. For
reliability and security, I am planning on installing Server Core on all the servers in
the network. Throughout the entire proposal and plan, there will be a total of ten
servers installed in the WAI s internal network. Moreover, to manage its entire
network infrastructure (ground) work, I will mount and install Windows Server
2012 because it will permit WAI to accomplish and manage its entire Windows
network infrastructure as a single server in its Boston location and four other servers

  • 2. Holiday Break Research Paper Over the holiday break, I did lots of fun things. I spent time with family, I hung out with friends, and I went to Branson. I really enjoyed the break and had tons of fun! For Christmas, we always meet up with my dad s side of the family the Saturday before Christmas and they all come over to my house. We ate dinner with them and opened up presents. On Christmas Eve morning, my family and I went to my church for a candlelight service. That night we also went to the candlelight service at Immanuel Baptist Church to meet up with some friends and family. After Immanuel s candlelight service was over I went to my great grandmother s house to eat dinner and open presents with some of my family members. When that was over, I went back over to my
  • 3. The Field By John Keane The Field is a story written by John Keane and is about a farmer who is very poor and owns a piece of land. He is renting a field from a woman who has now become a widow and is interested in selling the land at an auction. Because she decides to sell the land at an expensive price, the poor farmer Bull Mccabe is pushed into a very uncomfortable situation in which his desperation gets the best of him, which ultimately leads to his involvement in a murder. A question arises from this man s predicament: Were his actions acceptable? Just because someone becomes helplessly desperate, doesn t mean that they must commit murder in order to fulfill their temporary desires. I believe that what Bull Maccabe has done was a result pure desperation which was not in any way justifiable. Murder is a line that should never be crossed except in particular circumstances. Ethically, it wouldn t be feasible to argue taking someone s life unless it is to defend your own. The idea of murder is concept that globally, is well understood as undeniably wrong. It should only be used as a last resort or self defense, as in the act of war. Only in these situations would killing someone be an option. Not only are these cases ones where you can no guilt afterwards, but you wouldn t even face the repercussions. Bull is so frustrated with how he s going to lose his valuable land that he even calls William a thief: Now this robber comes from nowhere and he s nothing less than a robber . The author here
  • 4. Private Vs. Public Sin In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel... The changing imagery of each of the three scaffold scenes presents Hawthorne s idea of private vs. public sin. Using different visual elements such as light and placement, Hawthorne s imagery creates a separation of each scene (and character) for the reader. This idea is carried out through the portrayal of Dimmesdale and Hester, each with their own kind of sin to endure. In the first scaffold scene, Hawthorne exemplifies Hester s public sin as she stands in the exposure of daylight, facing a crowd of townspeople, her embroidered A visible to all. Her shame is very much public, with societies reactions and judgements ringing loudly throughout the scenes description. This is seen as the town gossips speak about Hester amongst themselves, enforcing the ideas of shame upon her character.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene focuses on Reverend Dimmesdale, standing alone on the scaffold in the dark of night They would have discerned no face above the platform, nor hardly the outline of a human shape, in the dark grey of midnight. (134) Dimmesdale s sin is private, his guilt and suffering internal, yet constantly eating away at him. His attempt to repent, however noble, becomes fundamentally weak as he stands in the dark, still veiling his sin from the public, therefore unable to heal his pain. Hester however, through the public incrimination of her own sins, has become stronger, able to cope. Dimmesdale speaking to Hester, exclaims, Happy are you, Hester, that wear the scarlet letter openly upon your
  • 5. Online Enlistment, Clearance, and Classroom Management... Chapter 1 The Problem and Its Background Introduction In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing plenty of forms, to getting cleared, enlisting subjects, and scheduling. Some schools even have subject advisement before and after the enlistment phase. All these processes were done manually and were very time consuming. Now however, with the option of porting all these operations over the internet, they have become faster to do, more convenient, and easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems for clearance, enlistment, and classroom management of Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology (CIIT) and propose an online system to manage these tasks. It will discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ( http://www.ciit ph.com/ About Us page) Executive Summary The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if they are eligible to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester. Students will login to the website and they can view all the subjects they have already taken, their grades on these subjects, subjects that they are eligible to take for the next trimester, the schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects, and the student s clearance status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that he is eligible to take for the next trimester. He will also be able to choose the schedule of the said subjects if there is more than one class being offered. After picking the subjects and schedule, he will be shown a completed assessment form that he can print out. He will then bring this form to the school registrar where he can pay the necessary fees and be officially enrolled. Professors of CIIT will be able to upload their students grades online. School administrators can change a student s clearance status online for any reason that they see fit. Actions done will be logged. All these processes are currently being done manually by CIIT. It is tedious and time consuming for a lot of the students and the school s registrar office. The Online Enlistment and Clearance System aims to replace these with an easier and speedier
  • 6. Essay on Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths One of the fundamental questions that religions seek to answer is that of origin. How was man put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him? What does his creation imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these questions are answered by a religion s creation stories. Every religion s creation myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Because of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of those different from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give. Genesis In the Western world, the most well known creation story is in Genesis (Myth A), in the Old Testament of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and woman together, man was created first, from the dust of the ground after which God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then, while Adam was sleeping, God took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman. Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than the afore mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man was created to rule over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man was created because there was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to why man was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I, man is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created merely as a servant of the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans, tend to take the first interpretation as indication of man s role on earth, believing him to be superior to all other species. Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other quite well.
  • 7. Why Is Cultural Imperialism Wrong Europe swept into many underdeveloped countries and colonized them. Europe introduced these nations to modern technology and Christianity. Some would even say that Europe saved these underdeveloped nations. What those people don t understand is that these countries were overthrown. These nations were the unwilling victims of imperialization. As a result, they were forced to give up their land, adhere to a new government and new religion, and those who didn t obey were murdered in cold blood. Imperialismis wrong and no country has the right to impose their values on another. Although Europemade excuses for the colonization of other nations, there is no valid reasoning for their actions. It was wrong of them to overthrow nations as they did.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James Petras states, We must reconsider the profound psychological impact of state violence, political terror, and the deep penetration of cultural / ideological values propagated by the imperial countries and internalized by the oppressed peoples. The victims of cultural imperialism become inherently fearful than their oppressor and the oppressors become arrogant and of the belief that they are superior to the oppressed nation and its people. James Petras goes on to say, The state violence of the 1970s and early 1980s created long term, large scale psychic damage fear of radical initiatives, distrust of collectives, a sense of impotence before established authorities even as the same authorities are hated. The violence committed during colonized creates a fear in the people, they become helpless and lose all hope. Many would argue that imperialism is not oppression, that in fact, Europe is doing these nations a favor by introducing these nations to modern technology and Christianity. This argument is simply wrong. The countries being colonized are not wanting of these modern technologies and practice their own religions. Forcing these things on an unwilling nation results in oppression and blood
  • 8. Transactional Leadership Paper Introduction Two of the most common and popular leadership approaches are transformational and transactional. Although transactional is more commonly used in business, it has fallen out of favor for the more holistic technique of transformational leadership. Leadership styles can change with time and knowledge, a leader could have started their career using one style and by the end that same leader could be utilizing a completely different style. This means that we as leaders have choices and we can learn from our experiences and help others to grow along with us. Transformational and transactional leadership will only bring about specific outcomes, if leaders deem these outcomes important in the first place, because otherwise they may not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, they foster inspiration and anticipation to put extra labor to achieve common goals (Zareen, Razzaq, Mujtaba, 2015, p 535). Transactional leadership does not offer many opportunities to help bring along or promote others, but still has a meaningful place in certain situations. More transformational leadership is needed in my organization, my colleagues and I are seeing more of our leadership, saying many transformational taglines, but their actions are incongruent with their words. Transformational leaders are not afraid to take personal risks; they emphasize progress, change, and innovation (Hamstra, et al, 2014, p 644). I am hopeful that what I am learning and my gaining passion to become a more influential leader using transformational leadership techniques. Knowing where my strengths and preferences lie, will allow me show what can be accomplished with mutual respected and shared expectations rather treating people like they are unthinking unfeeling robots. Mixing multiple leadership styles depending on the situation the leader is encountering appears to be the most well rounded option, yet a leader still must have a base preference where they start and return, mine is clearly in the transformational leadership
  • 9. Examples Of Bold Actions Bold actions are uncommon terms for extraordinary acts of courage and even heroism. People live their lives doing regular, routine things. They fear trying anything different, so they are unable to experience what a bold action can do for them or how such actions can make them feel. Others live fearlessly through their occupations, such as firefighters or policeman. These, are the type of people others can look up to. Exposing themselves can come with great risk, but also great rewards for themselves and even others. Therefore, I believe that bold actions can influence and benefit others positively and often even yourself. By committing a bold action in public, you can influence others to do daring things beyond their comfort zone. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, the main protagonist, Ponyboy, and his friend Johnny rescued several children from a burning church in Windrixville. Ponyboy was actually the one who got Johnny to come in and save them, Pony charged in and Johnny was soon to follow. When they rushed in it surprised many people because Ponyboy and Johnny were greasers who were notoriously known for being drunks and no good criminals. Everyone was astonished by their valiant actions and didn t even think about them being greasers . Even a Soc (who are supposed to be better than greasers) named Randy, who previously despised greasers talked to Pony, saying that he was shocked that they had saved the children because he wasn t sure he would have done it
  • 10. Grease Movie Analysis I chose to write this project on the movie Grease. Growing up, this was my favorite movie. I chose to write about this movie because I haven t watched it since I was a child, and wanted to look back and reflect if there was anything I hadn t picked up when I was younger watching this movie. The movie was made in 1978 by director Randal Kleiser, and was based on high school teens in the 50 s. Since it was based in the 50 s and most of us grew up watching this famous movie, I thought that there had to be social norms and stereotypes written and performed throughout the whole movie. The movie stars the famous actor John Travolta, who was a very young and upcoming actor in the 70 s. Since this was created in the late 70 s, there was a big push for equal rights of gays and lesbians going on in the real world at this time. I thought this movie would be a great example of gender, and other social political conflicts to help shape younger kids in the way we are supposed to be . The intro to the whole movie is a little cartoon. It starts out with a cartoon version of Danny, who John Travolta plays, waking up in a dirty room, which shows the classic stereotype that boys are very messy and not put together. Next shows Sandy, the main character waking up all perfect and pretty, almost like a princess. She wakes up with animals helping her get ready, just like Cinderella. This adds on to another massive stereotype that women are expected to be pretty and proper 24/7. The intro itself
  • 11. Transhumanism And Open Bionics Freddie Mercury once asked, with the voice of a whistling rocket, Who wants to live forever? [1]. This song was written for the sci fi action film Highlander (1986), the story of immortal swordsmen fighting in New York City [2]. However, this is a work of fiction and fantasy. To truly surpass the bounds of humanity, to live potentially live forever, we must look to science and technology. Research into prosthetic bodies and implants provides the scaffolding for controlled evolution. Nevertheless, such enhancements are not amoral. We must examine the implications of human enhancement before taking our first steps into Transhumanism. Origins of Transhuman Technology The philosophy of Transhumanism states that mankind can promote the evolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to its interest in technology and pro social causes, Google in this scenario could be a potential investor in Open Bionics. Until recently, its corporate motto was Don t be Evil, which is quite similar to medical practitioner s oath of do no harm and signals benevolence[10]. More importantly, Google s Calico project researches solutions for aging, which is seen as a disease and threat to humanity [11]. While Calico is more theoretical than practical its findings are not publicly disclosed its motive and potential outcomes are laden with age defying insight [11]. Its ambitions stop short of immortality, but the quantification and manipulation of the aging process is of direct Transhumanist interest and therefore laden with its
  • 12. What Are The Similarities Between Garuda Indonesia And... In this high mobility era, plane became indispensable part of people life especially for those who like or need to travel. Plane is the most efficient transportation particularly for traveling across islands, province and country. There are two kinds of plane services, which is low cost carrier and full services. Commonly, low cost carrier is chosen because of the fare is cheaper, but some people priority services rather than price. In Indonesia, there are two airlines providing full services, Garuda Indonesiaand Batik Air (JPPN, 2015). There is argue in which one is the best full services airlines between Garuda Indonesia and Batik Air. Moreover, both airlines have some similarities as well as contraries. According to Nurfitriyani (2016), for on time performance which is reflected by on time of take off, Batik Air overcome Garuda Indonesia with 91.21 percent or 23,366 of 24,617 flights scheduled, while Garuda only 85.82 percent or 77,955 of 90,832 flights scheduled. This is also given Batik Air award by Transportation Ministry as the most on time airline in Indonesia, while Garuda only in third place. As if I was at the top of the mountain and then had someone push back down. Finding out that the Senate has plans to take down the DACA was as if they were closing the doors to my success. As the Congress debates over immigration reform, August the 15th marks the second anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. On the 15th of August 2012, President Obama began a policy calling for deferred action towards certain young individuals who came to the United Statesas children and are known as Dreamers(LOGOS). This policy allows this group of people to have similar rights that are initially reserved for the citizens of the United States, like applying for employment or having a social security. The Daca program also secures the young dreamers from deportation. The Senate wants to eliminate the DACA program, but I believe that it s crucial to keep it because there are many young students that need it to continue to succeed. Which should not be done away with even after Obama s administration s time runs out. I have to say that I am one of the beneficiaries of the DACA program relief. I am a DACA student as well. It is an undeniable fact that most of the immigrants in the United States came from their countries of origin not out of choice, but because of trials and tribulations. Reasons for leaving their homelands vary, but the most common are civil war

Hemophilia Introduction to Hemophilia Hemophilia is term coined by Johann Schönlein is derived for Greek and Latin words that refer to one who loves to bleed or hemorrhage (Carson DeWitt, 2014). Hemophilia is a disorder in the body s mechanism of clotting. In simpler terms, people afflicted with hemophilia have a risk of bleeding out from minor injuries. Types of Hemophilia There are three types of hemophilia (hemophilia A, hemophilia B, hemophilia C). Hemophilia A is more common and it is caused by a deficiency of factor VIII (Carson DeWitt, 2014). This deficiency can vary in severity. This is why each case of Hemophilia varies in each case. Most people have severe Hemophilia which means that the factor is functioning at a hundredth of what it should be. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hemophilia like many diseases doesn t have a cure at the moment. There are treatment plans available. A doctor will prescribe transfusions usually. Factor replacement therapy injects the missing factor into the system which immediately provides the missing blood clotting factor the afflicted person is missing. These transfusions can be made from human blood or blood from an animal. When the transfusion is from a human, the proteins extracted for the transfusion are sterilized to prevent any blood related diseases. When the transfusion is taken from an animal, the factor desired to be produced is injected into the animal, so it can then produce large amounts of it. After that, the factor is extracted and it is then stabilized so it can be used in humans. The reason why a doctor must be seen for hemophiliacs to be treated is that, hemophilia varies in severity from case to case. This is because every person produces a different amount of the blood clotting factor. One hemophiliac may produce 15% of what a normal person produces while another hemophiliac may produce only 1% of what a normal person produces (HoG) . The amount and regularity of transfusions depend on severity of

As we look at the theme, tone, and morals we are able to better grasp the conflict in these two stories, while detecting whether the two protagonists, Miss Emily and Phoenix Jackson are psychologically splintered. The main moral in A Worn Pathis the love, and life of Phoenix Jackson. The same goes for Phoenix, maybe if the story was told in a first person point of view we would know if they are crazy or sane, because we could get into their mind and tell what it is they were thinking. Early on a cold December morning, an old Negro woman taps along with her cane on a path through a pine forest. (Welty ) For instance, we don t know what Phoenix was thinking as she walked down the path, in the cold, as she journeyed to reach the town just for that medicine. For Emily we could tell clearly if she was insane when she killed the man in her house by her thoughts and emotions. So the next day we all said, She will kill herself ; and we said it would be the best thing. (Faulkner ) In that statement even the people of the town felt something even worse was wrong with her and that the only and best solution would be to kill her own self. The conflict in A Worn Path is the battle between not only human vs. human but also human vs. nature. The battle of human vs. human lives in the mind of Phoenix but we have little insight of that because of how the story is told in a third person not her mind. The next is human vs. nature because of the trials Phoenix has on the trail with the bumps, rocks, ditches, hunters, dogs, and etcetera. As a result in these two stories A Worn Path and A Rose for Emily we see the similarities that linger in the mind of humans and the way they act to the observing eye. Rasputin was a Russian mystic/holy man who was close to the Tsar Nicolas II of Russia and his family from 1906 1916. It was believed that Rasputin had a special relationship with the Tsarina Alexandra Feodoronva and had some sort of influence over her decisions. Due to people s paranoia, they slowly distrusted, and subsequently overthrew, the Russian government under the Romanov Dynasty, which had ruled since 1613. Yusupov laced pastries and wine with cyanide, enough to kill several men. Rasputin ate and drank, but did not die, in fact it seemed, the poison had no effect. Still, Yusupov was determined and shot Rasputin in the back. Rasputin fell to the floor, and with no pulse or signs of life, was presumed dead. Part 107 of the current FAA s regulations on drones causes drones to have top be: in the line of sight of the pilot, not controlled autonomously, each pilot can only control one drone at a time and it cannot be controlled from a moving vehicle. For these reasons alone drone deliveries are highly impractical as not only will the individual have to live very close to the deployment center, but also large fleets of delivery drones would be impossible due to needing an individual pilot per drone. These things together were the main parts involving around refreshments and foods during the 1920s. Nevertheless, I will start on the igniter that created a lot of attention around refreshments, which is Prohibition. In 1919 a law was passed that outlawed the sale, manufacture, and transportation of liquor throughout the states. This law was the 18th amendment and was enforced at the start of 1920. The main reasoning behind passing the amendment was to reduce crime and corruption, improve health and hygiene, and solve social issues within the country. Another problem that was meant to be solved by the amendment, was to reduce the tax burden that was created by poorhouses and prisons. These problems that the 18th amendment was meant to fix worked initially but the rebellion because of this new rule was not taken into consideration. This thought leads into the effect of prohibition on refreshments after a year of being a law. Prohibition created a huge push for alcohol which really sparked a want for refreshments and to party. Alcohol consumption started to increase as people rebelled against the 18th amendments. This increase in the consumption of alcohol led to

People crafted sleds out of wood and built hills made of ice blocks. The hills had sand at the bottom to help slow down the sleds so they would not crash when they reached the bottom of the hill.1 Over time, the roller coaster has become more complex. They now are taller, faster and are designed out of different materials like wood and steel. Although roller coasters are fun and exciting, the questions, what allows them to twist and turn, go up and down hills at a fairly good speed? Why do they not fall off of the track when it goes through a loop? The answer to these questions and others about roller coasters lies in the application ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then as the coaster begins its decent down the first hill, the energy is converted back into kinetic energy as the train is pulled toward the Earth by gravity. Gravity is the traditional source of power for roller coasters that accelerates the train as it goes on its hilly, twisty journey.3 Gravity is a unit of acceleration, that is always present, that causes free falling objects on Earth to change their speed at a rate of approximately 10 m/s (32ft/s) every second.1 So, as the train goes down the hills of the track it has a positive acceleration giving it the necessary potential energy to climb the next hill, make a turn, or travel through a loop. Also, as the train goes down the hills and loops, it experiences a free fall effect. This occurs when an object falls and is not inhibited by other objects2 (314 315). As the train goes down the hill, the coasters mass causes it to accelerate faster than the people in the car. During the free fall stages of the ride the train does not exert any pressure on the riders or the track causing the riders to feel momentarily weightlessness. This is why the train has wheels on the bottom of the track and the passengers of the train have some sort of restraining device to hold them into their seats.3 So, as the train goes down the hill it is actually falling, causing the velocity of the train to increase due to the

Art is a wonderful way to express yourself in many ways: visual, photographic, sculpting (3D) etc. but one thing everyone must keep in mind is that no piece of art is perfect. If you make a mistake that is just fine, you are not a professional. And if you are, well good for you. But what I am trying to say is that not just anyone can fully grasp or understand art. As all my teachers say. It s okay not to know, however it isn t okay not to

Scientists believe that this process of injecting wastewater underground activates dormant faults. Although earthquakes from this process are rare, they are largely increasing in number and magnitude throughout the United States. For example, Oklahoma s seismic activity was seventy times greater in 2013 than before 2008. A lot more could be achieved through this relationship by further understanding the customers and this is exactly what this new needs based segmentation scheme was able to achieve. Dow Corning previously believed industry groupings were the most ideal way to serve its diverse customers base, but it was with this new needs based segmentation it revealed more about its customers and improved the way customers are served. Firstly, exact needs of customers were revealed with this new segmentation method. While Dow Corning certainly would know its customers before this segmentation change, but because previously segmentation was done by industry groups, Dow Corning would approach its clients with the mindset on what does the industry need , and not what does the customer really needs . For example, under the Innovative solution segment, these customers are pioneers in their respective markets, they are the trend setters, and the silicone products that were used and sold by Dow Corning to the industry at present would not meet its needs. What these customers really need from Dow Corning is joint R amp;D, the service and expertise,

Its foundation in the literature reaches as far back as Becker (1965), Lau et al. (1978), Barnum et al. (1979), Singh et al. (1986); Pitt et al.
