Essay On Why The Washington Burke Should Change Their Name
Should the Washington Redskins Change Their Name?
The Washington Redskins should change their name because it s insulting to Native Americans. It s
insulting because it s describing the skin and body of the Native American people. Also, they should
change their name because it s derogatory to the people of Native Americans. They should change
their name because also the Native Americans mascots are feeling disrespected. The Washington
Redskins are a NFL team that is located in Landover, Maryland. The three reasons above are why the
Washington Redskins should change their name.

In an article, it states Since the 1960s, as part of the indigenous civil rights movements, there have
been a number of protests and other actions by Native Americans and their supporters targeting the
more prominent use of such names and images by professional franchises such as the Cleveland
Indians (in particular their Chief Wahoo logo); and the Washington Redskins(the term redskins being
defined in most American English dictionaries as derogatory slang) . This shows how the Indians and
Redskins logos are looked at as racist and derogatory slangs. Also, in the article it states Often citing a
long held myth by non Native people that Indian mascots honor Native people, American sports
businesses such as the NFL s Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs , MLB s Cleveland
Indians and Atlanta Braves , and the NHL s Chicago Black Hawks, continue to profit from harmful
stereotypes originated during a time when white superiority and segregation were commonplace. This
shows how teams continue to promote harmful and derogatory stereotypes in there businesses. Also,
this shows the disrespect that these American national businesses sends towards Native Americans. In

Conformity In The Film Without My Daughter
Refusing forced conformity can lead to consequences, and an individual can never conform to
anything, without defecting another.
The well known director Brian Gilbert conveyed and explored the theme of conformity in one of his
memorable movies Without my daughter . The movie is extracted from a real life story of Betty
Mahmoody and her daughter Mahtob Mahmoody. The storyline of the movie revolves around an
American couple, the husband is from an Iranian background and he hasn t visited his home country
for more than 10 years. The story progresses as they visit Iran and her husband; Moody steals her
freedom and forces her to live with him and with his family in Iran. Thus, Betty and Mahtob are being
forced to conform to the rules and regulations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His idea was conveyed and explored in many scenes of the movie. One of the scenes is when Moody s
father wakes him up early every morning to perform the morning prayer that is unbreakable part of the
muslim tradition. Techniques such as facial expressions, dialogue and the tone of voice are used to
express this idea. When Betty in a sleepy tone asks her husband to stay in bed, You ve been getting up
early every morning. Don t go. He replied to her angrily by saying; What s the matter with you? We re
with my family. They re Sayyeds direct descendants of Mohammed. Of course, to a sophisticated
American that must seem primitive. Betty s facial expression were filled with sadness and pure
confusion as she couldn t identify the reason behind her husband s reaction and words. This shows
that Moody was conforming to his family and religion, however he wasn t conforming to his old
lifestyle in America. Also when Betty asked him to stay, she wasn t conforming to the Islamic religion
and tradition. Again Gilbert achieved his goal clearly when he showed live evident of conformity in
the movie, and this further extents the confirmation of the idea that an individual can never conform to
anything, without defecting

How Do Open Source Benefit Suites Contrast With Office...
How do open source benefit suites contrast with Office 2013 and does it bode well for your
association to actualize one instead of the financially authorized, omnipresent offering from
Microsoft? We think about three toolsets on logic, value, and gimmicks to help you choose...
For quite a while, philanthropic associations had a decision of two office benefit suites: Microsoft
Office and Microsoft Office. The prevailing business offering, Office in the long run yielded some
notoriety when a feasible open source contender, Openoffice, rose, took after by an alternate open
source alternative, Libreoffice.
How do these open source suites vary from Microsoft Office? Should your office consider one of
them, and will they bode well for your clients and framework?
To help you choose, we looked at key peculiarities of the most recent form of Microsoft s suite, the
Office 2013 Professional release, to Apache Openoffice 4.0 and Libreoffice 4.1, both discharged in
July 2013. Both open source suites offer an instrument called Base that is like Microsoft Access, an
apparatus called Draw like Microsoft Visio, and a comparison proofreader called Math, while
Microsoft Office incorporates the desktop distributed application Publisher, yet for the reasons of this
article we ll take a gander at the expression handling, spreadsheet, and presentation instruments.

Hot Tin Roof Mendacity
The Term Mendacity And Its Thematic Contributions to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams
[They are] all liars, all liars, all lying dying liars (2.1.985). The preceding is one of the most emotional
lines at the end of the second act in Tennessee Williams play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. It also succeeds
in setting the tone for the entire play. The story centers on a dysfunctional southern family who is
plagued by lies and deception. The closing of the second act is one of the most intense and critical
moments in the play where Big Daddy finds out his son, Gooper, and daughter in law, Mae, have been
lying to him about his rapidly declining health. Just before this gripping climax, however, Big Daddy
has an emotional conversation with his youngest son, Brick, about mendacity. This term is central to
the play s themes and is mentioned continuously throughout the play. Still, the lies and dishonesties
come from many different entities within the play. The roots of most problems the characters face in
the play come from mendacity within the society, their family and the characters themselves. Cat on a
Hot Tin Roof is set in the 1950 s, a time when society still considered homosexuality as a mental
disorder, as it was not removed from The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM) until 1973 (Drescher). In the play, it is repeatedly mentioned that Brick and his deceased friend
Skipper may have had feelings for each other that were deeper than those

Chinese Discrimination In Australia Essay
Imagine yourself moving to a different country which has a completely different culture to yours and
the people there who you thought would be kind and peaceful, abuse you regularly and belittle you as
much as possible. You become the target of prejudice and racist attitudes by both European and the
Australian government. These are the hardships and the forms of racism faced by the Chinese from the
Europeans upon arriving in Australia from 1800.
In 1851, gold was discovered in Australia. The Victorian gold rush attracted a great number of
immigrants all over the world. A small group of Chinese miners left Hong Kong and arrived in
Melbourne in 1852, returning to China rich in 1853. These men spread the word and gathered their
countrymen. From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They made no attempt to become part of the local community and did not mix with the mining
population. The Chinese sent gold back to China which indicated their intention of eventually
returning home. However this also created dissatisfaction and jealousy among the European miners.
The European objections to the Chinese were both racist and economic. The Chinese were
hardworking which made them look slack. They were the target of racist attitudes of both European
gold miners and the Australian government of the time. The Chinese were regarded as an inferior race
and were often unfairly blamed for many things not of their doing. They were resented as much for
their hard work and success as their different culture. These resentments turned into unnoticeable
violence at times. The Chinese were seen initially as oddities, later as competitors and then as a danger
to white Australia.
The Europeans criticized the Chinese for a number of reasons. The Chinese muddied the water that
was needed for washing gold. They went through the left over mining rubble or tailings which
Europeans needed to fall back upon in times of hardship. Suspicion of Chinese dress, customs,
religion and their vices, both real and imagined and like the Aborigines, the Chinese were considered
inferior, for the Europeans confused cultural differences with their own ideas of

On The Waterfront Analysis
In the 1954 film, On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, Terry Malloy, played by Marlon Brando,
an inarticulate former prizefighter in his late twenties, serves as a petty errand boy for the union head,
Johnny Friendly. The Hoboken, New Jersey port across the river from Manhattan, is the setting of the
film where gangs run the docks and work in the area. The film shows realism in many different
cinematic and thematic ways throughout the film. In the sense of cinematically, this film was filmed
on the actual docks of New Jersey in the winter time. Kazan is able to brilliantly create the realistic
port feel by filming on scene and using the natural surroundings as his canvas . The cargo ships in the
background coming in and out, the slummy docks where men find work, and the local bars from the
area. These natural settings and props made the film real and alive as it was what was actually going
on in the ports. The background sounds on the dock ships whistles and chains clanging through metal
loops add to the realistic aural environment. Kazan also uses the natural cold and winter to film in
which give the film a realistic mise en scène. Breaths are visible and steam up in the bone cold air. A
small detail like this suggests the brutal treatment these dock workers face daily, not only from the
corrupt union officials but from the elements themselves. The visible breaths also affirm the unique
existence of each character. Kazan casted not just actors to play these though

Color, Opacity And Design In Antigone
This painting uses color, opacity and design in multiple ways to convey Antigone s thoughts and
actions throughout the play. Breaking the painting down into four major points of representation is the
best way to describe the thinking behind this piece. The first general section of the painting being the
face. I gave her doll like features to draw in your eyes, all of the features making your eye wander to
her eyes, the eyes are one of the most communicative parts of the face, and by adding longing, watery
looking eyes, it communicates that she is struggling with something. The light accents of red around
her eyes are to draw your eyes to hers and to represent how badly she wants to bury her brother s
body, and the aftermath of her decision.

The Lakota Summary
This week of class was very interesting once again. We watched several films, read our first book, and
had some class discussions. These three things provided me with a great deal of information on the
1975 FBI shooting at Pine Ridge and on Native American/American Indian myths and legends.
In the films Incident at Oglala and Murder on a Reservation, I learned a great deal about the 1975 FBI
shooting at Pine Ridge and have developed my own opinion about the incident. I learned that on June
26, 1975 two FBI agents, Ronald Williams and Jack Coler, followed a red pick up truck onto the
Jumping Bull Ranch. They were out on the reservation to serve a warrant, but they were in unmarked
cars so the Native American/American Indians feared that it was an attack and began shooting.

There were a couple of stories that really stood out to me. The first was The Story of Defender. I really
enjoyed this story because it keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time and taught about two
important values of the Lakota people bravery and humility. When Hoka was fourteen years old, he
was invited on a hunting party and was given the job of guarding the camp, which contained elk meat
and elk hides for many families back in their village. One day, when the hunters went out, Hoka
encountered a bear. He considered going and looking for the hunters, but he knew if a bear came and
took the meat while he was looking for them he would be responsible, so he stayed and defended the
camp. After watching the bear scurry through the brush for a while, Hoka took a shot. He heard a
slight cry and when he went to look where the bear was hiding, he saw blood. Hoka believed he had
shot and wounded a bear, but when the hunters returned later that night and asked if anything
happened, he simply said

Colonization Of The Hawaiian Islands
Introduction
Colonisation of the Hawaiian Islands in the years following Captain James Cook s landing in 1778
had a huge influence on the societal structure, the ruling system, and the gender roles within the
community. With the old culture dismantled, a new one was built on the basis of Christian values,
brought to Hawaii by the missionaries from New England. This essay will give a brief description of
the colonisation of Hawaii, and then focus on the effects this process had on the societal structure, the
monarchy, and the gender roles as were widely accepted in society, as well as how these changes
affected other aspects of their culture. It will also briefly explore the effects of the expanding economy
due to the opportunities the colonisers saw for growth and monetary gain.
The Ruling System
A major change to 19th century Hawaiian society, largely caused by the arrival of foreigners into the
islands and the acculturation that followed, was the establishment of a western modelled monarchy,
solidifying Hawaii as an imperial society. In 1810, a Hawaiian chief, Kamehameha I, united the
islands to form a kingdom, using the weapons and advice of the foreign colonisers. The high chiefs of
that era immediately understood the importance of the foreigner s ships and their weaponry.
Kamehameha [...] was especially adept at maximizing the use of Western advisors and war technology
in the advancement of his imperialistic aims. (Pomaika i Cook, Withy and Tarallo Jensen 2003). This

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Image Segmentation
Image Segmentation Image segmentation attempts to separate an image into its object classes.
Clustering methods, edge based methods, histogram based methods, and region growing methods
offer different advantages and disadvantages. The use of a Gaussian mixture expectation maximization
(EM) method has been investigated to realize segmentation specifically for x ray luggage scans [131].
Namely, k Gaussian distributions are added to best fit the image histogram, with each Gaussian
distribution corresponding to its own object class. In an x ray image, high density objects absorb more
x ray photons and appear more intensely than low density objects. In a typical x ray luggage scan
image, there will generally be a mix of low density, medium density, and high density objects.
Because of this characteristic, an image segmentation algorithm which requires knowledge of the
number of partitions in the segmentation, such as in EM segmentation, is still a viable and perhaps
even favorable method. By segmenting an x ray image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

oriented at 0, 90, 45, and 45 degrees. In a method known as cell edge distribution (CED), each 64x64
edge map is divided into 16 16x16 cells, and the number of edge pixels in each of these cells is
counted. In another method known as principal projected edge distribution (PPED), edge pixels are
counted along the orientation of the edge map. For example, edge pixels in a horizontal edge map are

feature extraction method is a 64 element feature vector. A third suggested feature vector is a simple

Amazon Competitive Advantage
For Amazon to maintain a competitive advantage within the marketplace, Amazon has to focus on
remaining a convenient option for consumers. They need to infiltrate their customers digital
environment. I would suggest that Amazon focus on three things: Strategic Acquisitions and
Partnerships, Fulfillment Center Expansion, and Forward Vertical Integration.
Beyond the highly anticipated package delivery drones and the cashier free grocery stores of Amazon,
there are numerous business segments that help Amazon remain as one of the largest online e
commerce marketplaces. Amazon has set up an empire that has enabled it to continue with highly
lucrative strategies and business opportunities that continually push it forward. Amazon is at the

unclear how long this cycle is expected to last.
One of the biggest questions that frequents Amazon is how can Amazon make sure that the growth

pieces of criteria for evaluation include: Growth, consistency with the marketplace, consistency with

A Testimony Is A Personal Story Of God
A testimony is a personal story of what God has done in one s life, the story of one s conversion.
Many people have dramatic testimonies of God rescuing them from death and destruction. Others
have stories a little less dramatic; nevertheless they are life changing. We truly leave the kingdom of
darkness for the kingdom of light. C. S. Lewis puts it this way: It may be hard for an egg to turn into a
bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at
present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or
go bad. 1 My testimony is of the less dramatic variety. Still, God wooed me and waited for me. He
used my upbringing to bring me to a place of surrender to his Lordship in my life. I trust it will
encourage others to tell their stories of God s faithfulness. I grew up in a Catholic family and believed
the teachings of the Catholic Church insofar as they agreed with my reading of the Bible. As a
teenager, Jesus became real to me at summer camp; I was introduced to the Charismatic movement.
While at college God began calling me to Christian leadership, culminating in my engagement to
Kevin. I grew up in a Catholic home. From my earliest memories, I believed in God and knew He
existed. Every week we faithfully attended our local parish. There was no Sunday School so we sat

Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet I, Being Born a Woman...
Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed
Edna St. Vincent Millay s sonnet, I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed, serves as an excellent
example of a multi faceted piece. From one angle, it is simply a Petrarchan sonnet, written with a
slight variation on rhyme scheme but that variation, taken deeper, reveals new layers of meaning.
Added to Millay s choice of meter and end stop, along with a background of Millay s person, this
sonnet seems not so simple after all.
Millay, though she married in 1923, was known to have extramarital affairs, purportedly with both
women and men. (wikipedia.com) In the context of this particular sonnet, such seems revealing indeed

In Wordsworth s sonnet, he uses only the four rhymes to show that, even in constraining himself, he is
still free. He may be confined to a cell or a rhyme scheme, but it is in such confinements that he finds
liberty. Millay, too, is playing off of this idea simply by being a woman she is confined by society, but
through her poetry she can recognized for the brilliant writer she is; hence, she quite literally frees her
poetic reputation by constraining herself to such strict bounds. The irony in this reference to
Wordsworth s work, however, is the contrasting subject matters he writes of metaphorical nuns, while
she writes of rejection and lovers.
The second interpretation of Millay s constrained rhyme scheme is a fair bit simpler. Her choice of
words throughout the work is calm and cool distanced from the audience. There is none of the anger
that usually accompanies a lovers breakup; Millay is reserved, restraining her emotions. This
translates through to her rhyme scheme, which is also reserved. Here, she pulls back both from her
lover, and from tradition.
The sonnet s meter, on the other hand, is a bit more erratic, and betrays more feeling. Most of the
piece is in a steady iambic pentameter, but it varies four times just after the turn (line 8) of the sonnet.

Illusion versus Reality: Marriage in Modern Literature
Modern literature is known for questioning society and its various conventions. One question that
these works often ask is, What is real? Some modern authors explore this question by placing their
characters within self constructed illusions that are later shattered by the introduction of reality.
Marriages are frequently at the center of this theme, with one spouse crafting an illusory impression of
the other. Modern literature demonstrates that a marriage built upon illusion will falter when exposed
to reality. In order to understand the effects of illusion on marriages in modern literature, we will
explore two pieces: The Dead by James Joyce and Odour of Chrysanthemums by D.H. ... Show more

Abraham Lincoln From Peoria To Alton

Abraham Lincoln is revered as a hero throughout American history. He accomplished many amazing
and difficult feats such as abolishing slavery and winning the Civil War. He is thought to be a role
model, who was always on the right side of history. However, some people don t always hold the same
views as they were believed to have held. Lincoln s views on race relations didn t remain so
progressive, despite what people might think. During his speech in Illinois, Lincoln debated about

So, Lincoln s views have changed over time, but not that drastically. He saw slavery for the horror that
it was, and decided to do something about it. He still held the views that in order for society to
function properly, black and white people had to be separate and pursuing their happiness in their own
ways. Lincoln was like the others back then, but his ideas were very progressive. The idea that slavery
was wrong was a radical concept, and it also helped win a war. If Lincoln had been born around 2017,
his views would probably be entirely different. Humanity has always been a product of its time, but as
long as the right decisions are made, it all works out in the end.

Candide Character Analysis
Discuss the female characters in Candide. Are they victims, or natural survivors? Do they deserve
more pity or more admiration? Take one side only.
In Voltaire s Candide, there is a young fellow that falls in love with a lady. She is kidnapped and the
protagonist, Candide, embarks on a journey to find his love. I believe that he doesn t really love this
young lady, Cunegonde, he is in love with her looks (or is in lust, if you will). We discover that he
really doesn t love her at the end of the novel, but they still marry. The other female characters have
similar backstories and are also seen as a body of desire. The only one that is not seen this way is an
old woman. Regardless of age, all of the women have issues or tragic lives. I pity these people that
have to live in a position that is seen as inferior to the majority of men. While I pity them, I also see
how strong they are, and what they have endured in their lifespan.
A character that is deserving of pity is Cunegonde. Cunegonde came from a line of high ranking
people who are killed later in the novel. She was also kidnapped and raped by Bulgarians. She had to
have sex with two men that were sharing her. When Candide finds her for the first time, the only thing
that he cares about is how beautiful she is. He sees her and immediately believes that he is in love with
her. Later on, in the novel, Candide finds her once again. This time though, she is old and hasn t aged
well. Candide marries her and makes it known to the reader that it wasn t out of love, it was out of
pity. I believe that this character is deserving of more pity, because no one deserves to go through the
things that she has. No one took the time to get to know her. Candide didn t really care that much
about her when he saw that she wasn t beautiful anymore. Pacquette is a character that deserves pity
because her life was great until she started having sex with Pangloss and gave him syphilis. As a
result, she ran out of money and became broke and she had no other option but to resort to
prostitution. On Candide s journey to find Cunegonde he lands in Venice with martin and recognizes

Comparing Buddhism, Jainism, And Hinduism
In Asia, many religious outlooks are what set aside the life of individuals. The three main forms of
religion that is practiced are Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism, all of which began in India and made
their way around the world. Though these three religious teachings have similarities in terms of
Karma, religious laws, and places of worship, there are differences that are held, much like any other
forms of religion.
In Hinduism, the concept of the almighty God (Brahman, Vishnu, and Shiva), who created the
Universe and have the proper powers and possession to destroy it. God is in everything that Hindus
seek. Buddhism and Jainism have different concepts, as there is no understanding of a God. Jainism
embodies Godliness, rather, and focuses on the practice of perfecting the knowledge of peace and an
infinite amount of bliss and power. Buddhists have continuously rejected an almighty God or gods. ...

Analysis Of The En Plein Air Paintings By William Cullen...
During the 19th century, the en plein air paintings were introduced to many artists. Since that, natural
light became particular important to the Hudson River School. Also, art and literature were constantly
entwined, such as American Romanticism. Significant individuals became familiar with one another s
work, resulting in inspiration that led to creative works that pay homage to another artists work. For
instance, Asher Brown Durand s Landscape Scene From Thanatopsis was inspired by the romantic
poet William Cullen Bryant, whose work was influenced by the multifaceted cultural creations. Both
Bryant and Durand investigated the themes of men, nature, individualism, and the inner and after
lives. Through detailing natural elements that emphasized the life cycle, Durand created literary art by
paying tributed to Bryant s Thanatopsis . Asher Brown Durand was an American painter, one of the
founders of the Hudson River School of landscape paintings. He was born in 1796, New Jersey, USA.
He died in 1886. He used to be an engraver. He illustrated gift books and annuals, and engraved a
popular series of 72 portraits of antemproary Americans. In 1840, he visited Europe to study the works
of old masters. After he returned, he went to Adirondack Mountain with Thomas Cole to do the en

The Thief In J. R. Tolkien s The Lord Of The Rings
I will be applying this criteria to Gandalf, a wizard in the series The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R
Tolkien. Despite not having wounds in his hands, feet, side and head Gandalf did sacrifice himself for
the good of his friends when he battled Balrog, a fire demon, ultimately perishing but later rising from
the dead as a pure white wizard rather than his previous gray form. Furthermore, Gandalf is good with
children as he not only is in charge of 4 children throughout his journey but he is also known amongst
other smaller children as the wizard with fireworks and great stories. Gandalf is always seen on
horseback or on foot through his travels and despite not being able to walk on water he continuously

Feminist Sexological Analysis
The field of sexology is extremely valuable and yet often overlooked and taken for granted. Further,
the field of feminist sexology goes unnoticed or is just flat out excluded even more often. This is
certainly no indicator of its importance to society, though. Feminist sexology is vital to countering the
exclusionist approach of traditional sexology and providing new ways of approaching societal systems
and their issues. The poster fair itself was interesting and overall a positive experience in the end.
However, working on the project certainly had its ups and downs for my group and proved to be a
highly exasperating and frustrating process. Sexology as a field is relatively young, having only been

Due to issues with one of the group members keeping bare minimum contact with us while doing the
bare minimum of work, waiting until last minute to tell us he wouldn t make it to meet with us, and
then eventually deciding to drop the class and tell us the day before the poster fair, the project ended
up becoming pretty stressful for both myself and for Taylor. However, as much as group projects can
be stressful and frustrating and this one was for us, I believe the poster fair project is a productive and
positive project for this class because it allows a concentrated mix of ideas and opinions while
working on a project and there s no way to do something like an informational poster fair as an
individual project without requiring significantly more time over the semester. As far as how our
poster turned out, I feel like ours fell short in appearance, layout, and overall cleanliness. I don t feel
like our design was laid out as well as it could have been, though that is partially because we had
originally intended to have another topic of feminist sexology included in the poster which was our
third group member s part demedicalization of women s sexuality and sexual problems. That fact also
made me feel our poster lacked overall flow and, in some ways, information since having only one
issue of feminist sexology seemed like not enough. However, given our circumstances, I am pleased
with what we were able to pull off and make work for our poster and I feel that we fell along the line
with many of the other posters from the other

Prenatal Development And Development Of A Fetus
Prenatal development, also known as antenatal development, is the process of the development of a
human fetus during pregnancy, from fertilization of the egg until the birth of the child. There are many
factors that can contribute to the development of the fetus and many threats that can impact it. Most
prenatal development occurs in a normal manner, however; there are many things that can go wrong
during this vulnerable time and usually are caused by genetic or environmental factors. While the
hazards that threaten the development of a fetus can be easily steered clear of, dangers do exist and
should be recognized to ensure the fetus undergoes complete and healthy maturation.
The growth of the fetus that takes place during the nine months of prenatal development is a very
important and susceptible time. Anything the mother is exposed or even ingests makes its way into the
placenta and to the fetus. Some risk factors for prenatal development include the age and nutrition of
the mother, exercise, and stress levels. On behalf of environmental factors that can have a negative
effect on growth and development of the fetus, teratogens which are substances in the environment
that can have a harmful effect on the development of the fetus (Stein, Kline Kharrazi, 1984) are the
main environmental threats. The detrimental effects of teratogens depend on many different factors
such as the amount of exposure that the fetus is in contact with, heredity, and any other negative

Art Form Of Music
Music is art form that doubles up as a form of expression. Depending on where you are from and or
where you live the music that is readily available will vary. For example, the most popular genres
around where I live go from country music to rap and hip hop. One of the biggest factors of how
music is developed is the cultural background that it comes from. Ancient tribal societies have used
music as a foundation for gatherings and to express history. In reality, music has been around for
thousands of years and people were expressing it way before the 21st century.
Music helps define character and allows self expression in a more unique matter. For instance, folk
music, this type of music originates in traditional popular culture and is typically of unknown
authorship. Most rap artists nowadays write about drugs and making money but others are just using it
as a reflection of what s going on around them. There is a rap artist named J Cole who particularly
raps about real life problems and what s going on around him in the city where he s from. To people
who don t live in the ghetto or a poverty struck area, living in the hood isn t as bad as it seems, but for
people that live there, it s terrifying real. J Cole takes elements of what s going on around him, what
he grew up around and personal experiences he s faced. In addition there is a song called Immortal by
J Cole which was released on his new album 4 Your Eyez Only. In the song, Jermaine (J Cole)

The tone is moving and touching likewise the words are also so intense that makes us think that the
author may have deliberately chosen them. Some powerful examples are in between, men come. They

The ending may seem unsatisfying and incomplete. It is an introductory phrase Harish taught her at
the brothel. The deeper meaning of the ending is that the escape of these victims is uncertain and
improper. Also there is no proper solution to the victim s life. She may not get what she deserves or
her family would not accept her. Their future is uncertain and if they escape they would not be fully

Patricia McCormick mentions that It is in their honour that this book is written . Slavery as we know

Free Will Of The Media
Free will of the media carries with it certain responsibilities of truthfulness, equality, accurateness and
liability. I will talk about issues involving to media accountability in the present day. The media are
responsible for the greater part of the explanation and experience from which we construct up our
individual perceptive of the humanity and how it works. Our view of realism is based on media
communication that has been constructed and has attitude, interpretation and conclusion build in.
Lacking mass media, sincerity and liability are unattainable in present day democracy. Freedom of the
media carries with it convinced tasks of openness, justice, truthfulness and responsibility. The control
of the media to form and tear down individual morals comes with enormous duty. The Oxford English
Dictionary define the word responsible as having the commitment to do something, as part of one s
occupation or task: or having power over or concern for someone, accountable to be called to the
description. Responsibility is defined as the condition or reality of being liable, the capability to act
alone and make a decision, the status of being accountable for one s presentation according to the
conditions of reference of the Code of Professional Conduct. Collectively, peoples tasks are the thing
for which they are held responsible, failure to release an accountability render one responsible for

Saint Augustine s Confessions And The City Of God
Saint Augustine (354 430 C.E.) is often considered the greatest of all Christianity s founders. His
theology is vital to the doctrine of the clinical church and years yet to come. His abilities as a preacher
and commentator brought about his fast development in the church hierarchy to come the bishop of
Hippo in northern Africa. Saint Augustine best regarded works are his autobiographical Confessions
and The city of God. These two writings deliver a Christian interpretation to events and reasoning to
slavery. In 410 A.D., Alaric and his Goths sacked or raided Rome. Many blamed Christianity for
Rome s fall. People would suggest that the pagan gods were irritated due to the fact Christianity had
been promoted through the empire. Augustine s wrote The City of God as a response to people who
believed that. The point Augustine made when regarding to the sack of Rome is that the city s own
lust of domination, claiming territory and enslaving other nations, led to their own domination. He
pointed out that the barbarian invaders had spared most of the churches and that even pagans had
taken refuge in the Christian churches. This sheds a positive light on the sack of Rome, claiming that
many of its enemies received redemption and became useful citizens of the city. Essentially he thought
that, Rome was sacrificed so that the influence of God could be spread among the city s enemies. He
also believed that those who blame Christ for disasters but not for the benefits they have

The spread of Islam was similar to the spread of a contagious disease. But, why were people finding
the religion so appealing? Cultural diffusion is a common process by which an idea or an object is
spread to different cultures. Islam did not spread through cultural diffusion alone, however. It also
spread because people were attracted to the appeal of its messages and benefits. More specifically,
Islam was becoming popular due to conquest, the location of Mecca, Allah s message and his

to 532 items consisting of soup to nuts products for their customers (Sears Archive, 2012), supporting

By 1906 Sears was operating the largest mail order plant in the world, but that necessitated that the

Analysis Of The Film The Thirty-Nine Steps
Hitchcock described his film, The Thirty Nine Steps, as a film of episodes. He made sure the content
of every scene was very solid, so that each one would be a little film in itself (Truffaut, p.95). The
sequence The Crofter and His Wife is one of the sections that acts as a film within the film. The
central theme of this sequence is character entrapment. At around mark 26:30, the scene opens with a
view of the countryside which appears to be picturesque and peaceful. However, it is clear that the
countryside is also remote and uninhabited. As Hannay walks towards Alt na Shellach he finds himself
at a very small house which seems to be the only house in the area and soon figures out that it belongs
to a poor crofter and his wife. Hannay asks the crofter if he knows where the professor s house is. The
crofter informs him that it is 14 miles away from their current location and this is why Hannay pays to
stay the night instead of traveling at night. Both the crofter and his wife are distanced from society. In
addition, the isolated environment in which the house is placed is an example of the theme of
entrapment.
As this scene progresses, Hannay is introduced to the crofter s wife, Margaret. It is clear to Hannay
and the view that there is a significant age gap between the couple. As Margaret prepares supper, she
engages in a conversation with Hannay. Although Margaret did not grow up in the countryside, her
husband does not approve when she talks about outside places such as London. She explains, he says
it s best not to think of such things and all the wickedness that goes on there. Margaret then asks, Is it
true that all the London ladies paint their toenails? It is evident that Margaret is physically and
mentally entrapped in the countryside with a man much older than her.
While the crofter is praying, he grows suspicious when he notices the glances exchanged by Hannay
and Margaret at the dinner table. Hitchcock uses shot reverse techniques as the camera captures the
expressions on the character s faces. The crofter steps out of the house and says he needs to check the
barn door. Instead, he spies on Hannay and Margaret through the kitchen window. The crofter is shot
in a frame within a frame as he

Abortion in the United States Essay
Abortion in the United States Abortion has been a complex social issue in the United States ever since
restrictive abortion laws began to appear in the 1820s. By 1965, abortions had been outlawed in the
U.S., although they continued illegally; about one million abortions per year were estimated to have
occurred in the 1960s. (Krannich 366) Ultimately, in the 1973 Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade, it
was ruled that women had the right to privacy and could make an individual choice on whether or not
to have an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy. (Yishai 213) Since Roe v. Wade, the issue
of abortion has sparked a symbolic war based on the religious, personal, and moral beliefs of two

A WOMAN S RIGHTS VERSUS A FETUS RIGHTS One of the first moral issues addressed by both
sides of the abortion debate concerns a pregnant woman s so called natural right to make reproductive
choices. ( The Rights of Pregnant Women ) Anti abortion advocacy groups claim that the only way to
actually protect the mother s rights will be by enforcing laws that secure her child s right to life, (
Argument 2 ) whereas pro abortion groups contend that these laws create a dangerous precedent for
wide ranging government intrusion into the lives of all women. ( The Rights ) With two fundamentally
contrasting viewpoints at odds with each other, it is apparent that one of the core issues concurrent
with abortion is a woman s rights versus the rights of her unborn fetus. Some anti abortion activists
argue that a woman has waived control over her own body when she makes the decision to engage in
sexual activity, an activity which could lead to pregnancy. (Roy 339) Thus where sex is voluntary, the
pregnant woman has at least tacitly consented to the possibility of pregnancy. (339) If this is the case,
these anti abortionists argue, then a pregnant woman has given up the right to make a choice, as the
choice making phase of the

This summed up their sense of belonging, ensured by having their own territory and being with their
own race. The need for belonging stemmed from their perception and actual experiences not only in
school but the community as a whole. There was always the fight for one s own turf. This was
emphasized during this scene that showed the two Latinos who had to run from the group of
Cambodians who were chasing them and the attack on these Latinos that necessitated them to split up.
Unfortunately the woman made a wrong turn and bumped into another group which caused her to be
physically harmed. This scene highlighted that though they belonged to one community, they did not
quite see themselves as part of that community and sub groups or tribes abounded because it was in
these smaller groups that they found security. They needed to form groups based on their race and
color. They stuck together and supported each other because they found comfort from one another just
like members of a family caring for each other. They became so distrusting of other groups because of
the past painful events that happened in their lives. Every race needed to establish that they were not

South America with coasts on both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The total land area of the
country is 1,141,748 sq km (440,831 sq mi). The capital and largest city is Bogotá.

The coastline of Colombia extends for about 1760 km (about 1090 mi) along the Caribbean and for
about 1450 km (about 900 mi) along the Pacific. River mouths along the coasts are numerous, but no
good natural harbors exist.
AClimate Colombia lies almost entirely in the Torrid Zone, a meteorological term denoting the areas
of the earth s surface between the tropic of Cancer and the tropic of Capricorn. The climate, however,
varies with the elevation. The low regions along the coast and the deep Patía and Magdalena river
valleys are torrid, with average annual temperatures of 24° to 27° C (75° to 80° F). From about 500 to
2300 m (about 1500 to 7500 ft) the climate is subtropical, and from about 2300 to 3000 m (about 7500
to 10,000 ft) it is temperate. Above about 3000 m (about 10,000 ft) is the cold climate zone, where
temperatures range from 18° to 13° C (0° to 55° F). The average January and July temperatures in
Bogotá are the same: 14° C (57° F). The averages for the same months in Barranquilla are 27° C (80°
F) and 28° C (82° F).
Throughout the year, three month periods of rain and dry weather alternate. Along the Pacific coast
precipitation is heavy. At Bogotá the annual rainfall averages about 1060 mm (about 42 in), and in
Barranquilla it averages about 800 mm (about 32 in). Dry weather prevails on the slopes of the
Cordillera Oriental.

Australia Job Inequalities
Australia is one of the most urbanised countries in the world, with over two thirds (69%) of the
population living in major cities. It also has one of the lowest population densities outside of its major
cities. Despite the vastness of Australia and the profound impact that this has on the lives of the
peoples living in rural and remote areas, relatively little is known about families living in these areas
of Australia compared to those living in major cities. (Baxter, Hayes and Gray, 2016). Majority of the
people who live in Australia, live in cities rather than rural areas because cities provide better job
opportunities, education, entertainment, health services, and access to clean water and food

Research – Methodology and Ethics
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND ETHICS
This essay attempts to identify and sum up two research methods (Qualitative and Quantitative
Research Methods), assess their relative strengths and weaknesses and explain how two ethical issues
arise from research. Qualitative and Quantitative research approaches are two of the various methods
used in sociological research. The use of these methods can be very important and can normally
produce efficient, realistic and logical results.
So what is qualitative research and what is quantitative research? To begin with, we look at the
distinctions between the forms of research. Thus, on first consideration, the use of questionnaires as a
research technique might be seen as a quantitative strategy, whereas ... Show more content on

Qualitative descriptions can play the important role of suggesting possible relationships, causes,
effects and dynamic processes.
Because statistics are not used, but rather qualitative research uses a more descriptive, narrative style,
this research might be of particular benefit to the practitioner as she, or he could turn to qualitative
reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining
new insight.
Qualitative research adds flesh and blood to social analysis.
Both qualitative and quantitative research methods have some similarities, for instance, whilst
quantitative research may be mostly used for testing theory, it can also be used for exploring area and
generating hypotheses and theory. Similarly qualitative research can be used for testing hypotheses
and theories even though it is mostly used for theory generation.
Qualitative data often includes quantification, e.g. statements such as more than, less than, most as
well as specific numbers, quantitative, i.e. questionnaire approaches can collect qualitative data
through open ended questions.
ETHICAL ISSUES IN QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
During the designing of questionnaires and the training of interviewers a number of ethical issues need
to be taken into consideration. Respondents have a right to be informed about the nature and purposes
of the study and how the information will be used prior to data collection. The issue of anonymity,

  • 4. Conformity In The Film Without My Daughter Refusing forced conformity can lead to consequences, and an individual can never conform to anything, without defecting another. The well known director Brian Gilbert conveyed and explored the theme of conformity in one of his memorable movies Without my daughter . The movie is extracted from a real life story of Betty Mahmoody and her daughter Mahtob Mahmoody. The storyline of the movie revolves around an American couple, the husband is from an Iranian background and he hasn t visited his home country for more than 10 years. The story progresses as they visit Iran and her husband; Moody steals her freedom and forces her to live with him and with his family in Iran. One of the scenes is when Moody s father wakes him up early every morning to perform the morning prayer that is unbreakable part of the muslim tradition. Techniques such as facial expressions, dialogue and the tone of voice are used to express this idea. When Betty in a sleepy tone asks her husband to stay in bed, You ve been getting up early every morning. Don t go. He replied to her angrily by saying; What s the matter with you? Betty s facial expression were filled with sadness and pure confusion as she couldn t identify the reason behind her husband s reaction and words. This shows that Moody was conforming to his family and religion, however he wasn t conforming to his old lifestyle in America. Also when Betty asked him to stay, she wasn t conforming to the Islamic religion and tradition. Again Gilbert achieved his goal clearly when he showed live evident of conformity in the movie, and this further extents the confirmation of the idea that an individual can never conform to anything, without defecting ... • 6. Hot Tin Roof Mendacity The Term Mendacity And Its Thematic Contributions to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams [They are] all liars, all liars, all lying dying liars (2.1.985). The preceding is one of the most emotional lines at the end of the second act in Tennessee Williams play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. It also succeeds in setting the tone for the entire play. The story centers on a dysfunctional southern family who is plagued by lies and deception. The closing of the second act is one of the most intense and critical moments in the play where Big Daddy finds out his son, Gooper, and daughter in law, Mae, have been lying to him about his rapidly declining health. Just before this gripping climax, however, Big Daddy has an emotional conversation with his youngest son, Brick, about mendacity. This term is central to the play s themes and is mentioned continuously throughout the play. Still, the lies and dishonesties come from many different entities within the play. The roots of most problems the characters face in the play come from mendacity within the society, their family and the characters themselves. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is set in the 1950 s, a time when society still considered homosexuality as a mental disorder, as it was not removed from The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) until 1973 (Drescher). In the play, it is repeatedly mentioned that Brick and his deceased friend Skipper may have had feelings for each other that were deeper than those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chinese Discrimination In Australia Essay Imagine yourself moving to a different country which has a completely different culture to yours and the people there who you thought would be kind and peaceful, abuse you regularly and belittle you as much as possible. They were resented as much for their hard work and success as their different culture. These resentments turned into unnoticeable violence at times. The Chinese were seen initially as oddities, later as competitors and then as a danger to white Australia. The Europeans criticized the Chinese for a number of reasons. The Chinese muddied the water that was needed for washing gold. They went through the left over mining rubble or tailings which Europeans needed to fall back upon in times of hardship. • 8. On The Waterfront Analysis In the 1954 film, On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, Terry Malloy, played by Marlon Brando, an inarticulate former prizefighter in his late twenties, serves as a petty errand boy for the union head, Johnny Friendly. The Hoboken, New Jersey port across the river from Manhattan, is the setting of the film where gangs run the docks and work in the area. The film shows realism in many different cinematic and thematic ways throughout the film. In the sense of cinematically, this film was filmed on the actual docks of New Jersey in the winter time. Kazan is able to brilliantly create the realistic port feel by filming on scene and using the natural surroundings as his canvas . The cargo ships in the background coming in and out, the slummy docks where men find work, and the local bars from the area. These natural settings and props made the film real and alive as it was what was actually going on in the ports. The background sounds on the dock ships whistles and chains clanging through metal loops add to the realistic aural environment. Kazan also uses the natural cold and winter to film in which give the film a realistic mise en scène. Breaths are visible and steam up in the bone cold air. A small detail like this suggests the brutal treatment these dock workers face daily, not only from the corrupt union officials but from the elements themselves. The visible breaths also affirm the unique existence of each character. Kazan casted not just actors to play these though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Colonization Of The Hawaiian Islands Introduction Colonisation of the Hawaiian Islands in the years following Captain James Cook s landing in 1778 had a huge influence on the societal structure, the ruling system, and the gender roles within the community. With the old culture dismantled, a new one was built on the basis of Christian values, brought to Hawaii by the missionaries from New England. This essay will give a brief description of the colonisation of Hawaii, and then focus on the effects this process had on the societal structure, the monarchy, and the gender roles as were widely accepted in society, as well as how these changes affected other aspects of their culture. It will also briefly explore the effects of the expanding economy due to the opportunities the colonisers saw for growth and monetary gain. The Ruling System A major change to 19th century Hawaiian society, largely caused by the arrival of foreigners into the islands and the acculturation that followed, was the establishment of a western modelled monarchy, solidifying Hawaii as an imperial society. In 1810, a Hawaiian chief, Kamehameha I, united the islands to form a kingdom, using the weapons and advice of the foreign colonisers. The high chiefs of that era immediately understood the importance of the foreigner s ships and their weaponry. • 13. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Image Segmentation Image Segmentation Image segmentation attempts to separate an image into its object classes. Clustering methods, edge based methods, histogram based methods, and region growing methods offer different advantages and disadvantages. The use of a Gaussian mixture expectation maximization (EM) method has been investigated to realize segmentation specifically for x ray luggage scans [131]. Namely, k Gaussian distributions are added to best fit the image histogram, with each Gaussian distribution corresponding to its own object class. In an x ray image, high density objects absorb more x ray photons and appear more intensely than low density objects. In a typical x ray luggage scan image, there will generally be a mix of low density, medium density, and high density objects. Many people have dramatic testimonies of God rescuing them from death and destruction. Others have stories a little less dramatic; nevertheless they are life changing. We truly leave the kingdom of darkness for the kingdom of light. C. S. Lewis puts it this way: It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad. 1 My testimony is of the less dramatic variety. Still, God wooed me and waited for me. Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed Edna St. Vincent Millay s sonnet, I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed, serves as an excellent example of a multi faceted piece. From one angle, it is simply a Petrarchan sonnet, written with a slight variation on rhyme scheme but that variation, taken deeper, reveals new layers of meaning. Added to Millay s choice of meter and end stop, along with a background of Millay s person, this sonnet seems not so simple after all. The irony in this reference to Wordsworth s work, however, is the contrasting subject matters he writes of metaphorical nuns, while she writes of rejection and lovers. The second interpretation of Millay s constrained rhyme scheme is a fair bit simpler. Her choice of words throughout the work is calm and cool distanced from the audience. There is none of the anger that usually accompanies a lovers breakup; Millay is reserved, restraining her emotions. This translates through to her rhyme scheme, which is also reserved. Here, she pulls back both from her lover, and from tradition. The sonnet s meter, on the other hand, is a bit more erratic, and betrays more feeling. • 20. Candide Character Analysis Discuss the female characters in Candide. Are they victims, or natural survivors? Do they deserve more pity or more admiration? Take one side only. In Voltaire s Candide, there is a young fellow that falls in love with a lady. She is kidnapped and the protagonist, Candide, embarks on a journey to find his love. I believe that he doesn t really love this young lady, Cunegonde, he is in love with her looks (or is in lust, if you will). We discover that he really doesn t love her at the end of the novel, but they still marry. The other female characters have similar backstories and are also seen as a body of desire. The only one that is not seen this way is an old woman. Regardless of age, all of the women have issues or tragic lives. I pity these people that have to live in a position that is seen as inferior to the majority of men. While I pity them, I also see how strong they are, and what they have endured in their lifespan. A character that is deserving of pity is Cunegonde. Cunegonde came from a line of high ranking people who are killed later in the novel. She was also kidnapped and raped by Bulgarians. She had to have sex with two men that were sharing her. When Candide finds her for the first time, the only thing that he cares about is how beautiful she is. He sees her and immediately believes that he is in love with her. Later on, in the novel, Candide finds her once again. This time though, she is old and hasn t aged well. Candide marries her and makes it known to the reader that it wasn t out of love, it was out of pity. I believe that this character is deserving of more pity, because no one deserves to go through the things that she has. No one took the time to get to know her. Candide didn t really care that much about her when he saw that she wasn t beautiful anymore. Pacquette is a character that deserves pity because her life was great until she started having sex with Pangloss and gave him syphilis. As a result, she ran out of money and became broke and she had no other option but to resort to prostitution. There are many factors that can contribute to the development of the fetus and many threats that can impact it. Most prenatal development occurs in a normal manner, however; there are many things that can go wrong during this vulnerable time and usually are caused by genetic or environmental factors. While the hazards that threaten the development of a fetus can be easily steered clear of, dangers do exist and should be recognized to ensure the fetus undergoes complete and healthy maturation. The growth of the fetus that takes place during the nine months of prenatal development is a very important and susceptible time. Anything the mother is exposed or even ingests makes its way into the placenta and to the fetus. Some risk factors for prenatal development include the age and nutrition of the mother, exercise, and stress levels. On behalf of environmental factors that can have a negative effect on growth and development of the fetus, teratogens which are substances in the environment that can have a harmful effect on the development of the fetus (Stein, Kline Kharrazi, 1984) are the main environmental threats. For example, the most popular genres around where I live go from country music to rap and hip hop. One of the biggest factors of how music is developed is the cultural background that it comes from. Ancient tribal societies have used music as a foundation for gatherings and to express history. In reality, music has been around for thousands of years and people were expressing it way before the 21st century. Music helps define character and allows self expression in a more unique matter. For instance, folk music, this type of music originates in traditional popular culture and is typically of unknown authorship. There is a rap artist named J Cole who particularly raps about real life problems and what s going on around him in the city where he s from. To people who don t live in the ghetto or a poverty struck area, living in the hood isn t as bad as it seems, but for people that live there, it s terrifying real. • 32. Saint Augustine s Confessions And The City Of God Saint Augustine (354 430 C.E.) is often considered the greatest of all Christianity s founders. His theology is vital to the doctrine of the clinical church and years yet to come. His abilities as a preacher and commentator brought about his fast development in the church hierarchy to come the bishop of Hippo in northern Africa. Saint Augustine best regarded works are his autobiographical Confessions and The city of God. These two writings deliver a Christian interpretation to events and reasoning to slavery. In 410 A.D., Alaric and his Goths sacked or raided Rome. Many blamed Christianity for Rome s fall. People would suggest that the pagan gods were irritated due to the fact Christianity had been promoted through the empire. Augustine s wrote The City of God as a response to people who believed that. The point Augustine made when regarding to the sack of Rome is that the city s own lust of domination, claiming territory and enslaving other nations, led to their own domination. He pointed out that the barbarian invaders had spared most of the churches and that even pagans had taken refuge in the Christian churches. This sheds a positive light on the sack of Rome, claiming that many of its enemies received redemption and became useful citizens of the city. Essentially he thought that, Rome was sacrificed so that the influence of God could be spread among the city s enemies. He made sure the content of every scene was very solid, so that each one would be a little film in itself (Truffaut, p.95). The sequence The Crofter and His Wife is one of the sections that acts as a film within the film. The central theme of this sequence is character entrapment. At around mark 26:30, the scene opens with a view of the countryside which appears to be picturesque and peaceful. However, it is clear that the countryside is also remote and uninhabited. As Hannay walks towards Alt na Shellach he finds himself at a very small house which seems to be the only house in the area and soon figures out that it belongs to a poor crofter and his wife. Hannay asks the crofter if he knows where the professor s house is. The crofter informs him that it is 14 miles away from their current location and this is why Hannay pays to stay the night instead of traveling at night. Both the crofter and his wife are distanced from society. In addition, the isolated environment in which the house is placed is an example of the theme of entrapment. As this scene progresses, Hannay is introduced to the crofter s wife, Margaret. It is clear to Hannay and the view that there is a significant age gap between the couple. As Margaret prepares supper, she engages in a conversation with Hannay. Although Margaret did not grow up in the countryside, her husband does not approve when she talks about outside places such as London. She explains, he says it s best not to think of such things and all the wickedness that goes on there. Margaret then asks, Is it true that all the London ladies paint their toenails? It is evident that Margaret is physically and mentally entrapped in the countryside with a man much older than her. While the crofter is praying, he grows suspicious when he notices the glances exchanged by Hannay and Margaret at the dinner table. Hitchcock uses shot reverse techniques as the camera captures the expressions on the character s faces. The crofter steps out of the house and says he needs to check the barn door. ( The Rights ) With two fundamentally contrasting viewpoints at odds with each other, it is apparent that one of the core issues concurrent with abortion is a woman s rights versus the rights of her unborn fetus. Some anti abortion activists argue that a woman has waived control over her own body when she makes the decision to engage in sexual activity, an activity which could lead to pregnancy.
