Albert Fish Case Study

Albert Fish Christened Hamilton Fish but referred to himself as Albert Fish, the name of a dead
brother. A prolific American serial killer in the early 1900 s. Albert Fish lived a disturbing and
traumatic past which would lead him to commit heinous acts of crime victimizing children. The most
known crime, due to evidence, included the abduction, strangulation, and cannibalization of 12 year
old Grace Budd in 1928 (Bardsley, 2012; Ramsland McGrain, 2010; Vronsky, 2004). Events leading
to his capture and execution included a letter he had sent to Grace s mother six years after the death of

on May 19, 1870 to a 75 year old father and 32 year old Scot Irish American mother, the case of
Albert Fish has been notorious for the aspect and studies on nature vs. nurture (Bardsley, 2012;
Reitwiesner, n.d). His father was an old Potomac River boat captain, and his mother suffered from
auditory and visual hallucinations, and had reportedly 5 children (Bardsley, 2012; Schechter, 1990).
Albert was the youngest. His family had a strong background of mental illness and two of them
allegedly died in asylums (Schechter, 2012). After the death of his father, Fish s mother placed him in
an orphanage where he was regularly abused and according to Fish, that s where he got started wrong
because he began to enjoy the physical pain that the whippings brought (Bardsley, 2012; Wilson,
2004). Fish stated: We were unmercifully whipped. I saw boys doing many things they should not
have done (Wilson, 2004). Researchers have settled that the abuse received by his teacher in the
orphanage was a severe form shame punishment and influenced Albert Fish s claims that he had
always wanted to inflict pain on to himself and others (Schechter, 2003). It was in St. John s
Orphanage that Fish would discover that feeling pain and witnessing others being caused pain would
sexually arouse him (Wilson Seaman, 2004). Learning to enjoy watching his peers in pain could have
contributed to his attraction to picquerism, and to castrating, sodomizing, and raping his victims

How Did Leonardo Da Vinci Was Crucial For The Renaissance
Culture
1. Use specific examples to explain why the work of Leonardo da Vinci was crucial for the
development of Renaissance.
When we consider the term Renaissance it speaks about the revitalizing of the European art and
literature which represents the culture. This is done through influencing classical models during the
period of 14th 16th century.
Pierro da Vinci s son Leonardo da Vinci had an innate talented artist known for his perfection. His
artistic ability was widely appreciated, especially the work he undergone for the request of King.
Those works were not only paints; it also includes the architectural figures. Even the undone

Leonardo da Vinci s early childhood reveals that he made various models depicting his architectural
talent, those highlights the work was designed in a way to ease the work of people around him and
bring the sense of living in the world around them.

##ortals Of Meluh The First Novel Of The Shiva Trilogy...
The Immortals of Meluha is the first novel of the Shiva trilogy series by Amish Tripathi. The story is
laid down in the land of Meluha and begins with the appearance of the Shiva. The Meluhans believe
that Shiva is their fabled saviour Neelkanth. Shiva decides to help the Meluhans in their war against
the Chandravanshis, who had joined forces with a cursed Nagas; however, during his journey and the
fight that ensues, Shiva realizes how his choices actually reflect who he aspires to be and how they
lead to dire consequences.
Tripathi had initially decided to write a book on the philosophy of evil, but having been discouraged
by his family members; he decided to write a book on Shiva, one of the Hindu Gods. He decided to
make a foundation of his story on a fundamental idea that all Gods were once human beings; it was
their endeavors in the human life that made them Gods. After completing The Immortals of Meluha,
Tripathi faced rejection from many publication houses. Ultimately when his agent decided to publish
the book himself, Tripathi embarked on a promotional campaign. It included posting a live action
video on YouTube, and making the first chapter of the book available as a free digital download, to
tempt readers.
Finally, when the book was published in February 2010, it went on to become a huge commercial
success. It had to be reprinted a number of times to keep up with the demand. Tripathi even changed
his publisher and hosted a big launch for the book in Delhi. It was

Semiquinone Radicals
Reduction of an electron from ring C in ANT causes to formation of free radical semiquinone. This
radical is partly stable in anoxic environment but under normoxic condition, its unpaired electron is
given to oxygen and superoxide radicals are formed. Appropriate flavoproteins such as complex I
catalyses reduced semiquinone radicals by accepting electrons from NADH or NADPH and delivering
them to ANT. This sequence of reactions are known as redox cycling that can be very deterious
(dangerous) because low amount of ANT is adequate for formation of many superoxide radicals (67).
This radical damage triggers production of highly toxic aldehydes such as malondialdehyde (MAD).
These aldehydes can diffuse easily in the cell and even from cell membrane

Labor Unions And The Civil War Essay
Labor unions have existed in one way or another since the birth of our country in 1776. They were
created in an effort to protect the working population from abuses such as sweatshops and unsafe
working conditions. From the start of our Nation there were a few unions organized unions in a
scattered fashion, but many were disbanded after they had achieved their goals, such as when the
printers and shoemakers briefly unionized in Philadelphia and New York City in 1778 to conduct the
first recorded strike for higher wages. Three years later in 1971 the first successful strike happened,
when Philadelphia carpenters campaigned for a ten hour workday. This caused the need for skilled and
unskilled laborers to skyrocket during the Industrial Revolution and the Civil War and also got the ball
rolling with Labor unions. At this point in our Country, there had been nothing done yet for workers
rights, conditions, pay, and so on. People at this time saw that they could come together and do
something to make their lives better for themselves and their families. Many of these dates were
important in shaping our country s labor policies into what they are today. In 1847 New Hampshire
enacts as the first state to enforce a 10 hour workday law. In 1909 the International Ladies Garment
workers Union calls a strike in New York, demanding a 20 percent raise and a 52 hour workweek.
Within two days, more than 20,000 workers from 500 factories walk off the job. This largely

Art Based Education
William Bennet, the former US Secretary of Education, claims The arts are an essential element of
education . . . music, dance, painting . . . are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and
accomplishment (ilmea.org, 2016, para 11). The arts are a crucial component to the success of students
overall experience in the academic setting. Students exposed in the arts throughout their educational
experience endure more benefits then those who go throughout school with no exposure to them.
Schools must require creative art programs in the K 12 curricula, because of the academic, emotional,
and social benefits for students.
Discussion
Academic. The most important aspect of school is the academics. What if the arts contributed to the
academic benefits that students experienced? Arsenault (2009) describes how creative art programs
can work alongside school subjects and help benefit the students to prosper through their studies.
Research also shows that an art based learning achieve higher scores on academic tests (Miller,
Hopper, 2010). Miller Hooper (2010) note how students who experience an art program throughout
their school curricula demonstrate better academic success in all their subjects. Higher academic test

All My Sons Critical Essay
All my Sons Critical Essay
All my sons written by Arthur Miller is a dramatic play which shows actions and consequences and
morality and studies the theme of idealism verses realism, social responsibility and the American
dream. This play takes place after World War II, in the year 1947. The play shows conflict between a
Father and a son and how quickly a family can fall apart following a serious revelation. Arthur Miller
uses techniques such as characterization, stage directions and a delayed climax to show the conflict
between the different characters throughout the play and to help the audience understand the main
themes indicated throughout the play.

He also doesn t believe life needs to be inspiring. But his son Chris has a contrasting personality. He is
a listener and a loyal man to his family and friends. Chris is very idealistic which one of the main
themes in the play is. He admires his Father and does have a good relationship with him and one day,
would take over the business from him although Chris doesn t particularly want to. We first see a hint
of Joe Keller s personality in the first act when he refuses to read the news section in the newspaper.
We presume he s doing this to avoid all the bad news about the secret that he is keeping from
everyone.
One occurring theme throughout the play would be the American Dream being when one goes from
poor to rich by working hard for it or the Distorted American Dream by doing anything, primarily bad
to become rich and great. We see this mainly in Joe Keller s character, who considers himself to be a
family man and does what is best for his family. Keller sacrifices other parts of the American Dream
for simple economic success. He has given up part of his basic human decency to have a wealthy and
a successful family life. We find out how he did this later on in the play and why Miller shows his
opinions on the stupidity of the American

when the number or persons enrolled in a health plan changes when the cost of the premium rises or
declines. Unbeknownst to a majority of consumers, they play a bigger part in how the price elasticity
transpires and how their decisions impact the health demand curve. Health Measures The two
components that are used to assess health measures are morbidity and mortality. Morbidity is the
percentage of individuals diagnosed with certain conditions along with the number of hospitalizations.
Pregnancy has the potential cause other conditions that were not present before conceiving. Diabetes
and hypertension are two health conditions that can occur during pregnancy. According to Kilpatrick
Berg (2016), Identifying morbidity in post partum women can be based on ICU admissions and blood
transfusion that exceeds four units of blood. The more people with ideal health will lower the
morbidity rate, however as health declines and new conditions arise that will contribute to an increase
in morbidity rates. Mortality is not solely the totality of deaths it s the number of people who die
prematurely. The measurement of morbidity and mortality are imperfect since all health professionals

Two Differences Of Disneyland And Walt Disney World
Although Disneyland and Walt Disney World (WDW) are Walt Disney s ideas being portrayed, the
two parks have quite a few differences along with a vast amount of similarities. For example, Disney
World is comprised of four parks, whereas Disneyland is only made up of two. Disneyland cut the
ceremonial ribbon in 1955 and is located in Anaheim, California. It included features such as Sleeping
Beauty Castle, eighteen attractions, one resort hotel, and a monorail system. On the other hand, Walt
Disney World, located in Orlando, Florida, opened its doors in 1971. It featured Cinderella Castle,
fifteen attractions, and two resort hotels when it initially opened. Some similarities between the two
are that they allow you to participate in the Disney College Program, both are Walt Disney s dreams
coming to life, the entertainment of the guests, and pin trading. In contrast, the two parks have
different amounts and varieties of parks, hotels, restaurants, fastpasses, and entertainment. When
Disneyland opened, it rested on an 85 acre property and only had about eighteen attractions. However,
some of the rides featured on opening day are the most iconic ones still running in both locations. On
the first day they opened the doors, thousands of people began rushing into the parks to see Walt
Disney s dreams become a reality. Upon walking in, guests were overwhelmed with all the magic
come to life. Sleeping Beauty Castle towers over the entrance of the park at seventy feet high;
however it does seem to be bigger due to the architecture they used. They used bigger blocks on the
bottom and as the builders got higher and higher, smaller bricks were used. Here one will find shops
carrying merchandise like shirts, candy, backpacks, purses, stuffed animals, and the iconic
Mickey/Minnie Mouse ears. Both sites feature exquisite architecture when it pertains to the way, the
castles were built to appear bigger. In comparison of both sites, Main Street is the road that starts at
the beginning of the park and stretches to the castle. Disneyland is divided up into four different
themes, a few of them being Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. Each section has rides
that go along with the theme. For example, Tomorrowland is home

Challenges Facing Argentina Offers Its Residents Free...
Summary of Opportunities and Challenges Argentina offers its residents free tuition at its public
institutions. While this incentive may seem wonderful for the citizens of Argentina, it has also created
multiple issues. Economic hardship has exacerbated these issues. The tuition free and open admission
policies, while offering students a chance at success, have left the higher education institutions broken
as faculty were not being paid appropriately, this has since changed, but little funds are being
dedicated to research and development.
Higher education institutions in Argentina have long fought for autonomy. Under the 1918 reform of
Cordoba, García de Fanelli (2007) writes that students argue for a self governing university with the
participation of students, professors, and alumni on university councils, (p. 573). In addition to this
reform, the Catholic Church had a strong influence on higher education institutions in 1958. The
church supported the privatization of institutions within the country, García de Fanelli (2007) writes
that growth of the private sector has gone hand in hand with an increase in the number of public and
private institutions, (p. 573). These institutions include professional programs as well as vocational
schools.
Argentina, under these autonomous institutions, has the highest higher education gross enrollment rate
in the region 48% in 1999 2000 and a top female tertiary gross enrollment ratio of 60%, (p. 574)

Analysis Of The Art Of War By Sun Tzu
Book Analysis: The Art of War by Sun Tzu Ancient Chinese scholar Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War
more than 2000 years earlier, probably for kings, generals and solders of his time. However, this book
is still relevant in this high tech modern world. It has still a powerful energy to work as a useful
guidance for modern times. The Art of War is actually about struggles and confrontation we all go
through in our daily lives. We as all face same kinds of dilemmas in our hearts and minds when it
comes to compete with real life challenges. Though the book was compiled as a military advice in
ancient times, it has potential to function as practical guide in all facets of life even today. This book is
guide for victory in life, but it is also about the art of war. At the same time, it is all about self
awareness. It says know the enemy and know yourself; in in hundred battles you will never be in peril
. This is how Sun Tzu emphasises the importance of knowing about yourself. To be able to be a
winner in the challenges of life it is important to know your strengths and weakness. If you are know
yourself very well you should not worry about anything. Sun Tzu has made it very clear that half
battle is won when you have a better understanding of yourself. However, if you neither know about
yourself nor about your enemy, it means you are at a very high risk every time you enter a
competition. Therefore, to be successful in life, one must be aware about both himself and the

Research Paper On Abdominoplasty

belly button. You ve been exercising like a fiend to build those washboard abs, but nobody can see

That is the big and formal name for a tummy tuck. There are full tucks and there are mini or partial

remove loose skin, excess fat tissue and to tighten the abdominal muscles, all in one fell swoop. This
is a full tuck. A partial tuck will work only on removing the excess or just tightening the muscles to
give that sculpted look. The loose skin can result

Analysis Of The Book Gates By Paul Andrews And Stephen...
Choice Book Essay Recently, I read the book Gates, how Microsoft s mogul reinvented an industry

industry all the way to present day. The main author is one of my favorites, since he wrote many
articles on PC world, and gave a somewhat honest review of Windows Vista, of course after Microsoft

Analytical Essay On Bartleby The Scrivener
Published in the early 1850s, Bartleby, the Scrivener is a story by Herman Melville which takes place
on Wall Street in New York. Melville is known for having a reputation that s extremely interesting
because it has unusually sharp contrast and because it permits to the complicated process going on all
around us at the present moment (Riegel). Melville uses a narrator in this story and describes himself
as an unambitious lawyer who owns a small office on Wall Street and his primary focuses in life are
financial stability and simplicity. After he describes himself, the narrator starts giving details on the
surroundings of his work place and three other workers around him. The narrator becomes
mesmerized by one of the three workers around him, Bartleby, for his unexplainable actions in which
he refuses to work. Melville, at first, portrays Bartleby as a hardworking person who later refuses to
work upon command and even lies unresponsive on the ground to die. Melville s purpose of Bartleby
s sudden change in motivation is to show the dreary, repeatable atmosphere of the bureaucratic
American society in the 1850 s. Before Bartleby s arrival at the office, the narrator compared two
views seen from the office building as opposites. The narrator states, At one end they looked upon the
white wall of the interior of a spacious sky light shaft, penetrating the building from top to bottom.
This view might have been considered rather tame than otherwise, deficient in what

Emotional Analysis Of Dr. Oz
Dr. Mehmet Oz, commonly known as Dr. Oz, hosts a successful American TV show that focuses on
health, a topic that western culture has obsessed over. Recently, an increasing number of Americans
have sought to lead a better lifestyle by eating better; however, false advertisement has made everyone
believe that they must be willing to spend a small fortune to eat healthily. In the writing Give (Frozen)
Peas A Chance And Carrots Too , Oz argues that one does not need to eat like the 1% to maintain a
nutritious diet (1). His purpose is to inform his audience how and why they should shop smarter, and
he undoubtedly does an excellent job at persuading them to take his advice to heart. He does so by
forming a friendly bond with his audience, taking his argument to a personal level, and using facts to
compare normal, store bought foods to their organic counterparts. The only distinguishable weakness
in Oz s writing is that he fails to support his facts with evidence which leaves his arguments prone to
becoming hollow. Dr. Oz is able to effectively get through to his audience by connecting with them on
different levels of trust. For example, he formulates a friendly connection by keeping a casual,
sociable tone, and at the same time, he uses ethos by establishing that he is a doctor to create a sense
professionalism. Oz writes, as a doctor, I know that patients don t always have the time, energy or
budget to shop for artisanal ingredients and whip them into a meal (1). He s trying to sound
understanding of his audience s situation to make him more trustworthy. With these strategies, Oz is
able to build his trust on both a doctor patient and a friendly platform which gets his audience to listen
to him with an open mind. Oz successfully uses pathos to keep his audience engaged in his writing.
He s able to anger his audience at something they might have never been even slightly flustered over
by bringing up that which most people hold nearest to their heart: family. When describing the
purpose of his essay, Oz says, I consider it a public health service to the consumer who has to feed a
family of five or the person who wants to make all the right choices and instead is alienated and

How Does Legalizing Abortion Work
Does Legalization of Abortion Work?
The word abortion by definition means the induced expulsion of a fetus from the womb before it is
able to survive independently. Some country, abortion became legal because an authority thought that
the legalized abortion would be work and solve a problem in society. In the United States, the
legalized abortion was used since 1973. After legalized abortion used, there is an extremely
controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a woman
should have the right to choose. In my opinion, the legalization of abortion should be banned because
it has increased crime rates, child abuse, furthermore, dramatically changed sexual relationships.
The first reason why the legal abortion should be banned is it increased crime rates, instead, reduced
crime rates. In 2001 John Donohue and Steven Levitt, economists, was published a research about the
effect of legalized abortion on crime. They claimed that the legalized abortion unexpectedly lowered
crime rates and their finding indicates that crime in the United States started to decline in 1992. Later,
in 2005 Levitt and Dubner was published a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Legalized abortion is one of many possible factors that it can potential damage on the future of parents
and children relations. It is possible that if parents do not value children before birth it may lead
parents to devalue children who are born. According to www.life.org.nz, women who were sexually
abused as children, are more likely to seek abortions. Evidence from another study indicates that
approximately 80% of the relationships examined, break up following an abortion. We collected that
data from a large post abortion counselling service. This study of clients of a telephone counselling

David Slaying Goliath
David Slaying Goliath
David as portrayed by Bernini: The sculpture of David shows the position of David in a war where he
is trying to slay Goliath by throwing a stone at him. He is just about to throw stone at him because the
stone is still in his hand. His weight is completely on his right foot as the left foot is backwards and is
raised. Because of this, the right shoulder is a little bent or lowered compared to the left one. His body
is leaned forward towards his right leg. The height of sculpture is almost 6 feet. The sculpture
describes the angry emotion of David. Besides being angry, he seems spontaneous about his reaction
and quite confident too. This sculpture overall indicates how this hero is so much keen about slaying

Longfellow Psalm Of Life
Life Advice from Longfellow (An Analysis of Longfellow s Psalm of Life) Buddha once said, Do not
dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. People
sometimes look back on their lives and aren t always satisfied by what they see there. There are many
factors that must be taken into consideration to lead a happy, healthy life such as taking chances and
living for the moment. In Longfellow s Psalm of Life, he explains these factors. There are three
important messages in Longfellow s Psalm of Life. The first theme in Psalm of Life is to continuously
learn and try new things everyday. People complain that they are tired of doing the same thing

Edna has waited a very long time for this day. Even though Spike is only a couple of months old, Edna
is 23 years old just like Katie. You see, Edna was created inside of Katie when she was just a fetus.
Edna is so very excited because none of her 183 that have left already have had the opportunity to be
fertilized and there are still 216 other eggsthat could be fertilized. You see when an egg is ready to be
fertilized, it is called ovulation and only 400 of Katie s 500 thousand eggs will get the opportunity to
ovulate. Edna learned that ovulation is a grand experience that happens within a matter of a minute or
two. Ovulation is when Edna the egg (aka ovum) is released from Katie s ovary (Rathus, Nevid,
Fichner Rathus, 2007, p. 86). What happens is a small part of Katie s follicle that faces her abdomen
bursts and a fluid runs out which is full of millions of cells. Amongst all of these cells is Edna and the
cells with her provides nourishment for her. Now that Edna is ready to experience ovulation, Katie s
fallopian tubes are getting signals that they should get ready for Edna to come on down. Edna has
experienced ovulation now and is beginning to travel down Katie s fallopian tubes. Little fingers like
tubules caught Edna as she started down the fallopian tubes. Edna decides to hang out in Katie s
fallopian tubes and get herself ready to meet up with Spike to create another person. Now that Katie is

Dbquois Vs Americas
1. European vs. Native concepts of land ownership: Europeans believed that land was to be privately
held and that it represented one s status and wealth. On the other hand, Native Americans believed that
the land had sacred qualities that should be held in common. For example, the Iroquois share almost
everything with their community. The Iroquois valued their community over themselves. European vs.
Native concepts of purpose of trade: Europeans saw trade mostly as an exchange of goods that often

Catholics needed a safe place to worship their religion and Chesapeake gave them an opportunity to
do this. The New England colonies allowed the Puritans to spread their religion. Both groups of
colonies were also eager to explore the Americas and become wealthy off of the land. Chesapeake

made them a lot of money. Almost everyone in the Chesapeake colony was involved in some way in
tobacco farming. In New England, people focused on fishing, farming and timbering. They too relied

Symbolism and Theme in Everyday Use
The short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker differentiates between a fake and a real heritage. To
illustrate her point she uses one family consisting of a mother and her two daughters and the way each
of them views their ancestry and heritage. Through the behavior of these three people Walker is able
to clearly show the little things that separate a real heritage from the assumed fake mask. During the
time of many positive changes to the lives of black people across the America, the author illustrates
what the true African American heritage should look like, compared to empty claims by those who
have no understanding it.
The first and perhaps the least complex of the symbols in the story is Mama s yard. In the very
beginning of the story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time, judging from the way that Dee acts throughout her visit, such bonds to one s
heritage can be easily broken or even completely destroyed. And when these bonds are finally
destroyed it becomes impossible for people like Dee to understand the meaning of such little objects
like the quilts in much the same way as it is impossible for her to even understand the origins and the
legacy of her name. Again the history behind the quilts is really important so Mama describes more of
it: Bits and pieces of Grandpa Jarrell s paisley shirts. And one teeny faded blue piece, about the size of
a penny matchbox, that was from Great Grandpa Ezra s uniform that he wore in the Civil War (495).
Made out of many small pieces of Maggie s and Dee s ancestors clothes, these quilts visually display
the history of their family, including all of the struggles such as war, racism and poverty experienced
by its members over last century. What makes these quilts even more valuable and important is the
fact that because of her poverty Mama considers her heritage, contained in the things like these quilts,
as the most important material object in her possession. Therefore she decides that the best way to
honor this heritage would be to pass them to Maggie to be used like they were intended to by those
who made the quilts and the legacy contained inside of them. The quilts then summarize the great and
long heritage, passed on

Rubeus Hagrid Character Analysis
Rubeus Hagrid I would trust Hagrid with my life. (J.K. Rowling 14) In the story of Harry Potter and
the Sorcerer s Stone holds a magical world with witches and wizards performing all sorts of magic.
Questions would often peak into my train of thought like: why would one of the greatest wizards like
Albus Dumbledore praise a half giant? Why would the mighty Dumbledore, whom You Know Who
fears of, befriend and cherish a student that was expelled? Why would Dumbledore allow him to stay
and live on school grounds? There are many questions regarding Rubeus Hagrid. These questions are
all answered with the same solution. It is because Hagrid is viewed to be as the most valuable wizard
at Hogwarts. He is a terrific friend, he gives vital advice or information, and he is a suitable father
figure for Harry. Firstly, Hagrid is a dependable and loyal friend especially towards Dumbledore.

Review Of Pieces Mended By Film, And Digital Art

Edge, HP stream, Filmora editing software, and music by The Used. Flashback: The year was 2002, I
was standing on the corner waiting for the van to take me to therapy. The outfit that day was likely a
black hoodie, studded belt, family guy t shirt, skinny jeans, and checkered vans. The music blasted
through foam covered Sony headphones that looped behind my neck. The song Pieces Mended by The
Used (2002) played on a beat up disc man, which was decorated in yellow caution tape, duct tape, and
sharpie marker. Three minutes passed felt more like a decade. I remember thinking that the entire
situation was bullshit and no medication, or amount of therapy was going to help me. The only
ingredients that would ensure a smooth day were whiskey, a wine flavored dutch, and my bed. The
song lyrics supported my decision to ditch therapy that day, because honestly, what did they know
about anything. The lyric, fuck it, I m fine became my motto for the next few years (The Used, 2002).
Present Day Detailed memories from childhood and adolescence are difficult to remember, but the
emotions that arise in association with being fifteen are difficult to forget. Using music and movement

Albert Fish Case Study Gabriela Jimenez Dr. Erin Williams PSY 372 Psychology of Criminal Behavior May 2, 2017 Albert Fish Christened Hamilton Fish but referred to himself as Albert Fish, the name of a dead brother. A prolific American serial killer in the early 1900 s. Albert Fish lived a disturbing and traumatic past which would lead him to commit heinous acts of crime victimizing children. The most known crime, due to evidence, included the abduction, strangulation, and cannibalization of 12 year old Grace Budd in 1928 (Bardsley, 2012; Ramsland McGrain, 2010; Vronsky, 2004). Events leading to his capture and execution included a letter he had sent to Grace s mother six years after the death of Grace. The letter graphically depicted, in detail, the methods used ... His father was an old Potomac River boat captain, and his mother suffered from auditory and visual hallucinations, and had reportedly 5 children (Bardsley, 2012; Schechter, 1990). Albert was the youngest. His family had a strong background of mental illness and two of them allegedly died in asylums (Schechter, 2012). After the death of his father, Fish s mother placed him in an orphanage where he was regularly abused and according to Fish, that s where he got started wrong because he began to enjoy the physical pain that the whippings brought (Bardsley, 2012; Wilson, 2004). Fish stated: We were unmercifully whipped. I saw boys doing many things they should not have done (Wilson, 2004). Researchers have settled that the abuse received by his teacher in the orphanage was a severe form shame punishment and influenced Albert Fish s claims that he had always wanted to inflict pain on to himself and others (Schechter, 2003). It was in St. John s Orphanage that Fish would discover that feeling pain and witnessing others being caused pain would sexually arouse him (Wilson Seaman, 2004). Learning to enjoy watching his peers in pain could have contributed to his attraction to picquerism, and to castrating, sodomizing, and raping his victims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is laid down in the land of Meluha and begins with the appearance of the Shiva. The Meluhans believe that Shiva is their fabled saviour Neelkanth. Shiva decides to help the Meluhans in their war against the Chandravanshis, who had joined forces with a cursed Nagas; however, during his journey and the fight that ensues, Shiva realizes how his choices actually reflect who he aspires to be and how they lead to dire consequences. Tripathi had initially decided to write a book on the philosophy of evil, but having been discouraged by his family members; he decided to write a book on Shiva, one of the Hindu Gods. Ultimately when his agent decided to publish the book himself, Tripathi embarked on a promotional campaign. It included posting a live action video on YouTube, and making the first chapter of the book available as a free digital download, to tempt readers. Finally, when the book was published in February 2010, it went on to become a huge commercial success. It had to be reprinted a number of times to keep up with the demand. This radical is partly stable in anoxic environment but under normoxic condition, its unpaired electron is given to oxygen and superoxide radicals are formed. Appropriate flavoproteins such as complex I catalyses reduced semiquinone radicals by accepting electrons from NADH or NADPH and delivering them to ANT. This sequence of reactions are known as redox cycling that can be very deterious (dangerous) because low amount of ANT is adequate for formation of many superoxide radicals (67). • 6. Labor Unions And The Civil War Essay Labor unions have existed in one way or another since the birth of our country in 1776. They were created in an effort to protect the working population from abuses such as sweatshops and unsafe working conditions. From the start of our Nation there were a few unions organized unions in a scattered fashion, but many were disbanded after they had achieved their goals, such as when the printers and shoemakers briefly unionized in Philadelphia and New York City in 1778 to conduct the first recorded strike for higher wages. Three years later in 1971 the first successful strike happened, when Philadelphia carpenters campaigned for a ten hour workday. This caused the need for skilled and unskilled laborers to skyrocket during the Industrial Revolution and the Civil War and also got the ball rolling with Labor unions. At this point in our Country, there had been nothing done yet for workers rights, conditions, pay, and so on. People at this time saw that they could come together and do something to make their lives better for themselves and their families. Many of these dates were important in shaping our country s labor policies into what they are today. In 1847 New Hampshire enacts as the first state to enforce a 10 hour workday law. In 1909 the International Ladies Garment workers Union calls a strike in New York, demanding a 20 percent raise and a 52 hour workweek. Within two days, more than 20,000 workers from 500 factories walk off the job. This largely successful uprising ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Two Differences Of Disneyland And Walt Disney World Although Disneyland and Walt Disney World (WDW) are Walt Disney s ideas being portrayed, the two parks have quite a few differences along with a vast amount of similarities. For example, Disney World is comprised of four parks, whereas Disneyland is only made up of two. Disneyland cut the ceremonial ribbon in 1955 and is located in Anaheim, California. It included features such as Sleeping Beauty Castle, eighteen attractions, one resort hotel, and a monorail system. On the other hand, Walt Disney World, located in Orlando, Florida, opened its doors in 1971. It featured Cinderella Castle, fifteen attractions, and two resort hotels when it initially opened. Some similarities between the two are that they allow you to participate in the Disney College Program, both are Walt Disney s dreams coming to life, the entertainment of the guests, and pin trading. In contrast, the two parks have different amounts and varieties of parks, hotels, restaurants, fastpasses, and entertainment. When Disneyland opened, it rested on an 85 acre property and only had about eighteen attractions. However, some of the rides featured on opening day are the most iconic ones still running in both locations. On the first day they opened the doors, thousands of people began rushing into the parks to see Walt Disney s dreams become a reality. Upon walking in, guests were overwhelmed with all the magic come to life. Sleeping Beauty Castle towers over the entrance of the park at seventy feet high; however it does seem to be bigger due to the architecture they used. They used bigger blocks on the bottom and as the builders got higher and higher, smaller bricks were used. Here one will find shops carrying merchandise like shirts, candy, backpacks, purses, stuffed animals, and the iconic Mickey/Minnie Mouse ears. Both sites feature exquisite architecture when it pertains to the way, the castles were built to appear bigger. In comparison of both sites, Main Street is the road that starts at the beginning of the park and stretches to the castle. Disneyland is divided up into four different themes, a few of them being Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. Each section has rides that go along with the theme. • 15. Challenges Facing Argentina Offers Its Residents Free... Summary of Opportunities and Challenges Argentina offers its residents free tuition at its public institutions. While this incentive may seem wonderful for the citizens of Argentina, it has also created multiple issues. Economic hardship has exacerbated these issues. The tuition free and open admission policies, while offering students a chance at success, have left the higher education institutions broken as faculty were not being paid appropriately, this has since changed, but little funds are being dedicated to research and development. Higher education institutions in Argentina have long fought for autonomy. Under the 1918 reform of Cordoba, García de Fanelli (2007) writes that students argue for a self governing university with the participation of students, professors, and alumni on university councils, (p. 573). In addition to this reform, the Catholic Church had a strong influence on higher education institutions in 1958. The church supported the privatization of institutions within the country, García de Fanelli (2007) writes that growth of the private sector has gone hand in hand with an increase in the number of public and private institutions, (p. 573). These institutions include professional programs as well as vocational schools. Argentina, under these autonomous institutions, has the highest higher education gross enrollment rate in the region 48% in 1999 2000 and a top female tertiary gross enrollment ratio of 60%, (p. 574) writes García ... • 16. Analysis Of The Art Of War By Sun Tzu Book Analysis: The Art of War by Sun Tzu Ancient Chinese scholar Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War more than 2000 years earlier, probably for kings, generals and solders of his time. However, this book is still relevant in this high tech modern world. It has still a powerful energy to work as a useful guidance for modern times. The Art of War is actually about struggles and confrontation we all go through in our daily lives. We as all face same kinds of dilemmas in our hearts and minds when it comes to compete with real life challenges. Though the book was compiled as a military advice in ancient times, it has potential to function as practical guide in all facets of life even today. This book is guide for victory in life, but it is also about the art of war. At the same time, it is all about self awareness. It says know the enemy and know yourself; in in hundred battles you will never be in peril . This is how Sun Tzu emphasises the importance of knowing about yourself. To be able to be a winner in the challenges of life it is important to know your strengths and weakness. If you are know yourself very well you should not worry about anything. Sun Tzu has made it very clear that half battle is won when you have a better understanding of yourself. However, if you neither know about yourself nor about your enemy, it means you are at a very high risk every time you enter a competition. Therefore, to be successful in life, one must be aware about both himself and the opposing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Analysis Of The Book Gates By Paul Andrews And Stephen... Choice Book Essay Recently, I read the book Gates, how Microsoft s mogul reinvented an industry and made himself the richest man in America by Paul Andrews and Stephen Manes in 1994. This was of course, during the time period when Apple was failing, and released an operating system, System 9, that nobody needed nor wanted in 1994. IBM sure wished they haven t filed those separation papers now, when Microsoft stock stormed overhead, selling out of Windows 95 in less than two days globally. Over 2 million copies in fact, and the first publically available windows that didn t run on top of MS DOS, our ancient overlord. This book told the secret life of the ruler of the entire technology industry all the way to present day. The main author is one of my favorites, since he wrote many articles on PC world, and gave a somewhat honest review of Windows Vista, of course after Microsoft fired one of their top software engineers. Stephen Manes was even mentioned on the Personal Computers columnist for the Science Times section of the New York Times, and another on InformationWeek. At this time he was even a successful editor for PC Magazine, PC/Computing, PCjr, and Net guide. Marketing Computers also ranked him as one of the top 4 influential writes about the computer industry. • 20. Analytical Essay On Bartleby The Scrivener Published in the early 1850s, Bartleby, the Scrivener is a story by Herman Melville which takes place on Wall Street in New York. Melville is known for having a reputation that s extremely interesting because it has unusually sharp contrast and because it permits to the complicated process going on all around us at the present moment (Riegel). Melville uses a narrator in this story and describes himself as an unambitious lawyer who owns a small office on Wall Street and his primary focuses in life are financial stability and simplicity. After he describes himself, the narrator starts giving details on the surroundings of his work place and three other workers around him. The narrator becomes mesmerized by one of the three workers around him, Bartleby, for his unexplainable actions in which he refuses to work. Melville, at first, portrays Bartleby as a hardworking person who later refuses to work upon command and even lies unresponsive on the ground to die. Melville s purpose of Bartleby s sudden change in motivation is to show the dreary, repeatable atmosphere of the bureaucratic American society in the 1850 s. Before Bartleby s arrival at the office, the narrator compared two views seen from the office building as opposites. The narrator states, At one end they looked upon the white wall of the interior of a spacious sky light shaft, penetrating the building from top to bottom. This view might have been considered rather tame than otherwise, deficient in what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Emotional Analysis Of Dr. Oz Dr. Mehmet Oz, commonly known as Dr. Oz, hosts a successful American TV show that focuses on health, a topic that western culture has obsessed over. Recently, an increasing number of Americans have sought to lead a better lifestyle by eating better; however, false advertisement has made everyone believe that they must be willing to spend a small fortune to eat healthily. In the writing Give (Frozen) Peas A Chance And Carrots Too , Oz argues that one does not need to eat like the 1% to maintain a nutritious diet (1). His purpose is to inform his audience how and why they should shop smarter, and he undoubtedly does an excellent job at persuading them to take his advice to heart. He does so by forming a friendly bond with his audience, taking his argument to a personal level, and using facts to compare normal, store bought foods to their organic counterparts. The only distinguishable weakness in Oz s writing is that he fails to support his facts with evidence which leaves his arguments prone to becoming hollow. Dr. Oz is able to effectively get through to his audience by connecting with them on different levels of trust. For example, he formulates a friendly connection by keeping a casual, sociable tone, and at the same time, he uses ethos by establishing that he is a doctor to create a sense professionalism. Oz writes, as a doctor, I know that patients don t always have the time, energy or budget to shop for artisanal ingredients and whip them into a meal (1). He s trying to sound understanding of his audience s situation to make him more trustworthy. With these strategies, Oz is able to build his trust on both a doctor patient and a friendly platform which gets his audience to listen to him with an open mind. Oz successfully uses pathos to keep his audience engaged in his writing. He s able to anger his audience at something they might have never been even slightly flustered over by bringing up that which most people hold nearest to their heart: family. When describing the purpose of his essay, Oz says, I consider it a public health service to the consumer who has to feed a family of five or the person who wants to make all the right choices and instead is alienated and dejected because the ... The word abortion by definition means the induced expulsion of a fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Some country, abortion became legal because an authority thought that the legalized abortion would be work and solve a problem in society. In the United States, the legalized abortion was used since 1973. After legalized abortion used, there is an extremely controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a woman should have the right to choose. In my opinion, the legalization of abortion should be banned because it has increased crime rates, child abuse, furthermore, dramatically changed sexual relationships. The first reason why the legal abortion should be banned is it increased crime rates, instead, reduced crime rates. In 2001 John Donohue and Steven Levitt, economists, was published a research about the effect of legalized abortion on crime.
