Essay about The Vulnerability of Weak Passwords
Passwords
This lab was to discuss the vulnerability of weak passwords. We were thought how to crack our
own passwords using a method called john the ripper . We also found out how secure various
passwords and how long it would take for a desktop Pc to crack these passwords. We looked up
various methods and applications to crack passwords.
Report Part One:
Explain Preventions
Dictionary Attack =
A technique used to try and find the user s password by trying hundreds of different possibilities
many of these words from the dictionary.
Prevention =
Every time the password is typed in incorrectly the response time increases from the same ip
address used.

We then copied the file from the C: drive into the folder named pentest then to the password folder
and then into the john folder.
We then went to the menu bar and went into the backtrack menu option and clicked privilege
escalation option, then clicked password attacks then clicked offline and the clicked the option john
the ripper which then opens the a script application and we typed into the application ./john hash.txt
which generated the users names and passwords we had originally created on the windows
operating system.
Report Part Three:
Password Management Tools

Last Pass =
As extra security Last Pass is an add on for your browser which allows you to save the websites
you log onto and store and encrypt the passwords that you use to login into various websites so
you will never have to type in your password again which stops hackers from obtaining your
password because they will always be encrypted and only typed into the website the first time you
ever log into a new website and from then information will be auto generated into the form from the
previous login.
It also supports password generation for maximum password strength.
SuperGenPass =
As extra security SuperGenPass is a bookmarklet unlike Last Pass which is an add on for your
browser, SuperGenPass transforms a master password into complex passwords for different

Salisbury House Case Study
Question 3)
Without doing specific research on buildings, instead just looking at their configuration and
ornamentation, it is possible to estimate the date of construction. Using this method it is possible to
conclude that the Salisbury House is older than the Salem Copland House located a few blocks
away.
The Salisbury House is a simple Greek Revival building that includes many aspects of the Federal
style. The Federal style was primarily from 1780 1830 in the newly independent United States.
Most of these buildings are simple boxes and are modestly ornamented. They are also
characterized with low hipped roofs, six over six windows and two chimneys. The Salisbury
House has many of the federal features, though it has more chimneys. There are features of the
house such as the front and rear porch, bay windows and decoration that do not fit in the federal
style, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 19th century Greek art and architecture was in vogue because of Lord Elgin buying/taking
marble friezes from the temple of Athena Parthenon in the beginning of the century. Combined with
the first democratic nation in a few millennia being founded, the popularity of Greek architecture
boomed especially in the United States.
Aspects of the Greek Revival style can be seen in the Salisbury House, especially in the
ornamentation. Surrounding the third floor circular windows are laurel wreaths; they are
reminiscent of the wreaths of the winners of the Ancient Greek Olympics wore. This subtle nod to
the ancients is complemented by the simple Doric columns of the front and back porch. These
traditional Doric columns have narrow fluting and are without a base. The column shape is
replicated in the upper floors of the building with the weight bearing supports being visible.
Having the mix of the two styles, Federal and Greek Revival, the Salisbury house can be dated to
approximately the

The World The War Made By President Lincoln
1.The World the War Made
a.Why does Foner say that the Emancipation Proclamation transformed a war of armies into a
conflict of societies (3)? REQUIRED
i.The Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Lincoln declared that all people held as
slaves within the rebel states, are now and forever free. This quote is especially important because
it demonstrates the effects on society after the Proclamation was signed. Because of these effects,
the focus turned from war into the societal problems that this Proclamation brought about. The
Emancipation was a turning point in national policy and in the character of war. Lincoln knew that
the residents of the border states would never support abolition as a war aim, therefore he did ...

Because Johnson was military governor over Tennessee, he could use Johnson on the ballot to gain
the traction within the occupied southern states. Lincoln and Johnson could work towards a
smoother integration of Tennessee back into the Union.
b.What does Foner mean when he says that there was a broader question suggested by the end of
slavery: Should the freedmen be viewed as ready to take their place as citizens and participants in
the competitive marketplace, or did their unique historical experience oblige the federal
government to take special action in their behalf? (31) How did creation of the Freedmen s Bureau
suggest one answer to this question? REQUIRED
i.The creation of the Freedmen s Bureau suggests a great deal about the South during the
Reconstruction era of the United States. The Bureau was created to help emancipated slaves and
refugees have some kind of access to land. Along with access to land, the Bureau itself was
empowered to distributes clothing, food, and fuel to those who have become free men. In my
opinion, I believe the creation of the Freedmen s Bureau answered the question of citizenship in the
sense that freedmen should be considered citizens right off the bat. Back then, owning property was
a huge part of citizenship. By providing help with access to land, freedmen had the chance to
become an equal citizen.

Essay On Duke Ellington
Duke Ellington: 1899 1974 Edward Duke Kennedy Ellington was born April 29, 1899 in
Washington, D.C. Duke Ellington was born into a typical family with average income and
growing up, the future musician was home schooled by his parents. His father James Edward
Ellington and mother Daisy Kennedy Ellington were both pianist. His father played operatic arias
while parlor songs were his mother s first choice. It is an interesting fact that Duke is not actually
Ellington s name, but it is only his nickname, which children gave him when he was a little boy for
his aristocratic manners and the ability to dress elegant things. When Duke was seven years old, he
began his piano training and took lessons from Marietta Clinkscales. (Ruhlmann) Duke... Show

Ellington s band thrived and played all throughout Washington and Virginia, usually playing for
embassy and private parties. His band included Sonny Greer on drums, his childhood friend Otto
Hardwick on alto saxophone, Elmer Snowden on banjo and Arthur Whetsol on trumpet. The group
performed for both African American and white audiences which was quite rare in those times.
When Ellington s drummer Sonny Greer joined the Wilber Sweatman Orchestra in New York
City, he decided to leave behind his successful career in Washington, D.C and moved to Harlem.
Shortly after his move to Harlem, in May of 1927, Andy Preer who had been leading the house
band at the Cotton Club died. In looking for a replacement, the gig went to Duke Ellington and his
men. The clubs decor was modelled after the old south of plantations and slavery, hence the name
the Cotton Club . The club was segregated, meaning only whites were allowed in the audience,
while all the waiters and entertainers were African American. What made Duke Ellington and his
Cotton Club Orchestra famous were the weekly broadcasts on radio station WHN. (Cotton) These
broadcasts were heard all over the country and gave Ellington national exposure. With the Great
Depression worsening, the recording industry too was hit by the financial crisis and that resulted
into dropping of over 90% of artist by the year 1933. (Ruhlmann) In the case of

The Possible Causes of Cleft Lip and Palate
Cleft lip and/or palate is a condition where the tissue of the lip did not completely close during
embryotic formation that affects 1 in 700 people born. Though not immediately fatal, the
disorder can cause complications with consuming and speech that could lead to more serious
problems. The only way to fix the gap is to surgically go in and sew the two sides of the lip
/palate together; this is a comparable easier and faster solution than other solutions out there for
different disorders. Many people who get the surgery recover fine, have slight physical
differences, and are able to succeed in society like anyone else (condition does not hinder mental
state or ability drastically). This condition has many different phenotypes that fall in two
categories, unilateral cleft and bilateral cleft (Dixon et al., 2011). In a unilateral cleft, only one
side of the palate or lip is affected (asymmetrical) while in a bilateral cleft, both sides are affected
usually in a symmetric pattern. Because of the large range of phenotypes, it is very difficult to
trace back to certain genes and factors and figure out how these factors together influence the
expression of the trait. Cleft lip and/or palate can be expressed by itself, called non syndromic, or
with other conditions including Kabuki syndrome, called syndromic (Dixon et al., 2011).
Depending on the type of disorder, this condition is caused by different chromosomes and mutations
on these chromosomes. For example, if it is indeed

Donald Trump s Use Of Artifice In The Media
Political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda to create a sense of faux intimacy with
citizens, no longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest. In the quote, Hedges is explaining
who uses artifice and what they do with their power. Artifice is a skill that is difficult to
maintain and keep realistic. Being the most essential skill, artifice is the art of deceiving.
People s ideas and thoughts are altered for the gain of one and the loss of another. Everyone will
need artifice at some point in their life to get the attention, item, or person they want.
Specifically, our current President, Donald Trump, uses artifice all too much. He has exceeded
his use of artifice. Trump won was because of his excellent use of artifice. He was able to
persuade enough people to vote for him and his changes he would fulfill. Artifice takes quite skill
to make believable for your audience. The importance of artifice during his ruling is immense,
making it the most essential skill. Donald Trump is portrayed as a lying, evil individual in the
media. Although we may not know the complete and total truth, we are able to identify that he is
lying about something. For example, one of the very first things Trump had said to gather the
attention of the audience would be about getting rid of all illegal immigrants. Rapidly, people began
turning their heads and opening their ears when they finally understood what he was trying to do.
The consistency and emotional appeal

Why Is Chris Mccandless Attracted To The Wild
Why is the wilderness such an attraction to people like Chris McCandless? Usually people like
living in houses and being inside. Some people would think that living by yourself in the
wilderness is crazy, but some people have a wanderlust for the wilderness. People who love the
wilderness would say it s a way to get away from society and be free. Chris McCandless is a person
who is attracted to the wilderness. The wilderness is a place where you are free of the bad people in
society, you can live by your own rules, and you are completely free.
The wilderness attracts people because you are free. Chris McCandless leaves his home and
family so can explores the wild. He does this because he wants to get away from all the bad
things in society and conflicts in his family. In the movie,Bridge to Terabithia, Jesse and Leslie go

While he s there he thinks being in the forest is good because he s away from all the conflict

Challenges Of Life During The California Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush was a period of time when thousands of people from all over the world
came to California for gold, some were lucky, most were not. California was owned by Mexico
1600 1846. Mexico soon allowed the U.S. to have California as it s own state, and that is when
they found the gold. The California Gold Rushwas a difficult time with the challenges people faced
traveling to California, the way the Forty Niners lived, and the way they used the gold. Thousands
of men and women would bunk on a boat for up to almost a year. When traveling to California,
the men and women on board had to live several months eating old and moldy food, this caused
many to die or become ill. The unhealthy voyage was also very dangerous, they had to go through
many storms, some could even lead to a ship sinking or a person getting thrown overboard. The
author stated The trip around Cape Horn was a dangerous as well as unpleasant. Ferocious rains

During the California Gold Rush there were many thieves. Many had to hide their belongings due
to the thieves, especially the Chinese. The Chinese were robbed and harassed the most. Most of
of thieves were other foreigners, mostly the Native Americans because they were mad at the
fact that they took their land. The California Gold Rush caused economic changes. A quote to
justify is Merchants charged higher prices for supplies as people began to stream into
California. Money was more available than food. Price increases affected everything from eggs
to software. (McGill, 1 2). Many during the California Gold Rush had to leave behind their
family behind so they could travel and get to California without a hassle. They would leave so
fast because they believed that the gold would be gone by the time they got there. The California
Gold Rush was not only dangerous but also risky for those who left their family

Where To Move
At last! The decision to move has finally been made and after a long time of discussing where to
move to, my family and I have decided to move to California. We have been consulting about
where to move to for a while now but all the places that were talked about had been vetoed, so the
subject was always dropped and we continued on live on Cape Codin Massachusetts. After a long
winter, my mother had come into contact with one of her old friends who was living in California.
At first she had only jokingly mentioned the idea of moving with her friend. But soon the
conversation became serious and we began to actually plan everything out. My mother was
surprised at the amount of enthusiasm that my siblings and I had showed compared to other times....

Implementation Of Ipd And Traditional Delivery Method
Implementation of IPD creates benefits for users according to a survey of AIACC and the
Associated General Contractors of America in 2008; specifically, IPD reduced 46% of design
and construction time, increased 58% of project quality, saved 61% of project costs, cut down
71% of project change orders and delays, and decreased 84% of conflicts occurred during the
project. Therefore, numerous construction experts recommend users to implement IPD in all
construction project types in order to minimize total project duration and costs (Cho Ballard, 2011;
FCMAA, 2008; Darrington Balzarano, 2010; El adaway, 2010). Figure 1.4. Comparison between
IPD and Traditional Delivery Method (Retrieved from AIA California Council, 2007)
According to Figure 1.4, IPD is obviously different from traditional project delivery method with
an early participation of all key members and shortening total project duration along with specific
phases represented distinctly needed work for each team member (AIA, 2007). As a result, IPD
process is sufficiently useful for any type of construction projects; however, this fairly new and
unaccustomed approach is being evaluated by professionals and practitioners for a reliable outcome
(Ashcraft, 2011).

African Americans During Reconstruction
The best way to predict the future is to create it. Abraham Lincoln. The Union did various things to
help the South during the Reconstruction. They rebuilt roads, got farms operating once again, and
built schools for African American children and adults. Eventually the economy in the South began
to recover. Reconstruction was a period of repair after the civil war. Freed African Americans were
protected by the government during reconstruction by the Freedmen s Bureau, despite the South s
bitterness towards the new changes. Overall, reconstruction was positive because it brought many
affirmative changes for African Americans. First of all, the actions taken by the government to
ensure that Freedmen in the South were protected during the reconstruction was the establishment
of the Freedmen s Bureau. The Freedmen s Bureau was established in March 1865, which helped
African Americans achieve economic stability and secure political freedoms. Some of the things
the Freedmen s Bureau did was ensure that the former slaves earned fair and equal wages. Thus, it
created specific courts to settle disputes between black workers and white employers. In addition to
this, the Freedmen s Bureau established schools for African Americans. By 1870, two hundred fifty

The First Lady. Obama
The First Lady When I first saw Michelle Obama it was in 2007 during the election trail. I did
not really know much about her then, because I was only in the 5th grade and I was more into
dolls and Disney channel than watching politics. I would hear my mother talk about her, but
that is the most that I would know about her for a while. I started to really notice her win I
started to see her on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel when she would do her guest appearance
on some shows. I than started to hear about some of her works on fitness in America and the
obesity rates. When Nickelodeon would have their Worldwide Day of play I would see some of the
interviews that she would do. I started to hear about her food regulations that she has put through
and heard some people and students complain about. Michelle Obamais a very smart woman and
she is trying to get people to see that having good health can help them succeed. In all actuality
she is there and doing somethings that other First Ladies have not done and is which in some
ways she is a great First Lady. She is a woman to look up to for a few reasons. Michelle Obama

Walls Are No Longer Where They Please Because Of A Wall
Freedom is the victor. But how can there be freedom if man cannot travel where they please
because of a wall? I believe walls have many adverse effects on people, countries, and civilizations,
and I believe a poem from Robert Frost and a speech from Ronald Reagan help prove that point.
Both Frost and Reagan discuss the lack of benefits walls have for people. In Frost s poem, the
narrator states that We wear our fingers rough with handling them. This shows that the upkeep of
the wall causes the narrator and neighbor physical harm, when they are gaining nothing in return for
keeping the wall. In Reagan s speech, he is addressing the East and he states I join you, as I join
your fellow countrymen in the West, disclosing that the people of Berlin should be together
when they are separated. I believe Reagan is also trying to touch on how the people of Berlin are
separated from their family and friends if they are unlucky enough to be on opposite sides of the
wall, and that there is no way for those people to reach their family and friends because they
would be killed if they tried to get over the wall without permission. Reagan also discusses how
walls affect countries in his speech. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

country because resources that may be available on one side of Germany won t be able to get to

My Experience Of Teens
It is truly astonishing how much we, as teens in the 21st century, take for granted. We go
through our day, as if everything we do is a given right, rather than a privilege that we have. We
don t ever stop to think about how so much, could be taken away from us in an instant. It was
Monday, June 5th, 2017. I had just come back from an invitational hockey camp in Canada and I
was up bright and early that morning so that I could go to Westridge and take my last two finals
of the year. By the time I had gotten in the car, it was 7:20 in the morning, and I felt ready to take
my finals. While in the car, my mom was listening to KBS radio station. I wasn t completely
listening, but from what I could hear, the station was talking about a single engine planecrash in the
Santa Rosa Valley that happened the other day. They were just mentioning how the two victims
in the plane crash were identified just as I was getting out of the car. From there, I tried to clear
my mind of everything and just reviewed the things that I knew. I walked onto campus with my
face inside a binder and although I knew the material, I attempted to cram even more useless
information into my brain. I stopped in front of my math classroom when I felt my phone
ringing inside of my crossbody bag, against my hip. I grabbed my phone out of my bag to see that I
already had 4 missed calls from one of my good friends, Miles Brodey. Assuming that Miles would
be calling me with a purpose, I adjourned my terse review

Divergent Movie Analysis
Introduction: Divergent is an action film directed by Neil Burger. This film takes place in
Chicago, which is placed in a futuristic world where society divides people into five factions
based on their personalities. As each person grows up and becomes an adult they have to choose a
faction which they will stay in for the rest of their lives. Beatrice Prior is the main character in
Divergent and she changes a lot throughout the film, starting off as not knowing who she is and
why she isn t like everybody else. To finding out and learning who she is and becoming more
confident in herself. The director uses a variety of different film techniques including close ups,
and wide shots to show how Tris is feeling, and how she is changing throughout Divergent.
Paragraph 1: At the beginning of the film, Tris is very quiet and naive. She was born into the faction
Abnegation, they live a simple life, selfless, dedicated to helping others, this tells us that Tris s
life isn t exciting and she was born to put others before herself. When Tris is in her room, getting
ready for the choosing ceremony where she will get the chance to choose a new faction, the
director uses an over the shoulder shot to show her reflection in the mirror. Tris s face looks very
nervous and scared as to what faction she will choose and what it will be like. This helps the
audience understand that she is quite anxious for a new changeand wonders if she is still a part of
Abnegation, or will fit into

Extraterrestrial Life Exist Essay
Imagine that out of the infinite stars and planets in the vast universe, only one solitary planet can
sustain life. Heavily disputed arguments have arisen about whether humans are the sole intelligent
beings in the universe. Scientists continuously search for the answer, but the search has not as yet
yielded positive results. Billions of dollars have been spent in research, causing controversy about
whether scientists should invest in the hunt for extraterrestrial beings. Due to inadequate
technology, humans cannot currently identify whether extraterrestrial lifeexists, leading to
arguments that scientists should refrain from searching for them. Findings on Earth and other

Since odd creatures are found in environments similar to Europa s on Earth, then life can possibly
survive on the moon. Experts cannot rule out life under the ice on Europa, because of the
similarities to the Earth s environment. Therefore, they must carry on researching. Even though
finding similar environments to inhabitable areas on the Earth is helpful, it may hold little
importance when discovering life. Open University s Preston says, Most of the environments we
used to think were sterile are proving to have life. Every time we think we ve found somewhere
on Earth that life can t survive in, we go and find a part of life that can (Fecht). This could be true
on other planets as well, so scientists do not have to look for planets with similar environments to
Earth. Aliens may have adapted to a different environment than Earth s. Scientists have discovered
living beings in places on Earth which seemed unlivable, so if humans look at planets that seem
uninhabitable they may find life as well. Once again, with this new knowledge, scientists should

Case Study Of Oak Hills
Based on the report and case study of Oak Hills facility, it is a fact that the processes and
operations require a massive overhaul if it wants to remain competitive and improve its efficiency
as a manufacturing business. Lean manufacturing might be able to solve some of its issue in terms
of its process in production. Below are some of the recommendations that Oak Hills should look
into.
i.Adopting Supply Chain practise
The management of Oak Hills should look into the supply chain management to improve its
efficiency in its production process. This could boost the inventory control and organization
performance. This can also be done through aligning the supply chain to maximise its
effectiveness. A best practice is a process that produces the best benchmark for a specific task
(Gilmore, 2007). Establishing alliances with key suppliers creates a supplier relationship
management which will be more effective in working together. This can be effective if Oak Hills
create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The implementation of technology will be essential in ensuring that Oak Hills achieves the lean
manufacturing. Among various tools for performing Lean manufacturing assessments, technology
has remarkably allowed the obtaining of world class function as well as recovering job function
(Nasab and Dehghani, 2013).
Cons of Implementing Lean System
The cons of implementing this system are mainly the involvement of monetary expenses. It will
also include work disruptions during the process of training and educating the employees. As the
rumours of merger are still in the process, there may be issues revolving the costs associated with
the revamping of the operations in Oak Hills. Things like introducing new equipment capabilities,
re current trainings and re design layout of floorplan will increase the expenses of Oak Hills
facility. iii. Introducing re engineering

I Really Enjoyed Holly Weeks Piece On Stressful Conversations
Intro
I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own
experience. Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress
gets high very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation
fail, this is a thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the
reader to remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also
provoking us to examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with
stressful conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by
describing the processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally.
Know Thyself
Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point
in this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to
evolve without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author
provided, in retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it
differently. Holly Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of
emotional situation we probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good
word for it, tactics, though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a
race, these tactics are ones the subconscious uses to

I need to collect more data from different statistical analysis techniques and sources such as cross

psychological autopsy information etc. One thing I can conclude that Bhutanese refugees obviously
enjoying better life than in Nepal and Bhutan. They have all access to the United States government
support and the most important thing they have new identity and citizenship. They would never
have these accesses even they were repatriated to Bhutan or resettled in Nepal. The research report
from the past during the time of frequent suicide (2008 2012) suggest that there were already 67
suicide and 64 suicide attempts cases between 2004 to 2010. The report also found the cases of
gender based violence, history of mental illness with suicide and untreated mental illness in the
refugees. (International Organization for Migration (IOM), 2008). I would say it is not easy to
resettle in the new country in overnight as we don t have any suicide case of Bhutanese refuges in
the current days and the U.S. government refugee policy is not the primary reason behind the
suicide of these refugees. However, I believe that the United States government need to organize
local community programs, cultural programs, political and social gatherings, invite and participate

Gender Bias And Its Effect On Education
Leedy, LaLonde, and Runk (2003) found that their data supported and built on the findings of other
researchers concerning gender stereotypes. They found that girls who were motivated and had
mathematical talent were still subject to the effects of gender bias and that they had decreased
confidence in their mathematical abilities. The research also indicated a continuing belief that math
is a maledomain. Females did not acknowledge the stereotype and felt the survey was biased and
insulting and left comments saying so. No such comments were left by males. The belief by men
that math is a male domain, coupled with the failure of women to acknowledge the biases existence
sets up an unrealistic relationship. The researchers postulated that rather than denying biases exist,
we must acknowledge them so that we can move on and reform education. They felt that the
reforms need to occur outside, as well as inside, the classroom, and must include parents, especially
mothers. The attitudes of all parties involved must be changed for reform to be effective.
Riegle Crumb and Moore (2013) found that females were underrepresented in the engineering
course they studied. Although female students made up 50% of the enrollment at the high schools,
they only comprised an average of 14% of course enrollees. Women in the classes shared similar
academic backgrounds with their male classmates, but the women were more likely to have a
parent who worked in engineering or a scientific field.

According to the text the rational choice theory is the view that crime is a function of a decision

act. Evaluating Ted Bundy according to the rational choice theory, he knew what he was doing
weighed his options, picked how he would attack kill and rape his victims. He meticulously sought

was wrong, illegal, and immoral.
There are multiple forms of the capital punishment depending upon which state you live in. In

Volkswagen Case Study
Being the second largest car manufacturer in the world, Volkswagen really dug themselves a deep
hole. According to Bocconi Students Investment Club, The company was discovered cheating on
the emission tests by installing software that limits the harmful fumes produces but only while the
vehicle is being tested. Once on the road, the company s vehicles emission levels exceed the norm
by 10 40 times. While reading the Bocconi Students Investment Club that you have provided for us,
it goes in depth about how this scandal was suppose to help Volkswagenbecome the first car
manufacturer in the world. Volkswagen ethically broke the law by installing these software
systems in their vehicles that lower the NOx levels in the engine of their vehicles ranging from
2009 2015. According to BSIC, At the core of this scandal are the so called defeat devices
installed by Volkswagen on some 11 million cars worldwide. At the moment legal charges have
been brought up on roughly 482,000 diesel vehicles operating in the US under VW and Audi
badges. This investigation started to occur in 2015. According to BSIC When the software dented
that it was being tested, it would change to an alternate engine configuration, lowering toxic NOx
levels in exchange for a drop in performance and fuel economy. Since this discussion about what
Volkswagen did, they have lost a lot of their business. Consumers are not going to want to buy
vehicles from this company any more because of how much money it would cost them to get their
car fixed. This dispute has hurt a lot of people in the process. For an example, it is hurting the
consumers because they have to get their vehicle fixed, the company itself because they are
under lawsuits and potential fines. According to BSIC The serious implications for the firm are
expected to not only include costs arising from fines, lawsuits and recall costs, but also criminal
and civil chargers pursued against individuals directly responsible for the incident. By having all
of these lawsuits and recall costs it is going to cost Volkswagen a lot of money in the long run.
According to BSIC Under the threat of a 18 billion potential fine, the negative reaction of the
market has been rapid with the VW

The Polygraph
A lie detector test is commonly called a polygraph. They are used to record a subjects natural
reactions, such as an increase in heart rate, to questions. The polygraph tracks and records these
factors using multiple smaller devices. It has been built and developed since 1878 (CГґtГ©,
Michel, Sergeant). The polygraphhas its advantages and disadvantages, some people even claim it
can be tricked. The United States uses them, but scientist are still uncertain of their accuracy. Many
other countries do not use them out of concern for accuracy. In recent years, their use has decreased
due to the uncertainty. Polygraphs have always been, and might always be, controversial.

A lot of things about them have their ow positives ad negatives to them. It seems to be most
successful in getting guilty subjects to confess out of fear. Others countries, such as Europe,
have deemed the polygraph as far too unreliable for any evidence to be used in court. ( Palmer,
Alun.) Part of why they are unreliable traces back to the fact that people fear them. This is an
advantage and a disadvantage. It has been considered an advantage because guilty subjects likely
to confess out of fear for the test. At the same time, an innocent subject could fail the test out of
fear. Polygraph tests, in a way, detect nervousness. This can lead to false results. (Robinson, Bryan.)
Another disadvantage already mentioned earlier is that businesses, companies, and corporations
cannot legally use a polygraph test on employees or potential employees. The main advantage of
Polygraphs is what they have done for technology. Scientist have been working on them since 1878

Internet Dangers
As advancements in technology continue to exceed expectations, the internet starts to present itself
more as a reliable tool than a technological breakthrough. With every passing year, people take for
granted what a powerful asset the internet can truly be. However, common sense would suggest
that, every powerful tool comes with a significant risk. The risk takes the form of every lewd,
violent, and undesirable website which exists in the vast network of information. Some possess
knowledge extensive enough to avoid these dangerous sites, but those who are young and blissfully
ignorant of the unseen nature of the internetcannot possibly be expected to avoid these dangers on
their own. Therefore, in order to protect the minds, hearts, and futures of the younger generation,
precautionary measures should be taken to prevent children from accessing or stumbling upon sites
which, by no means, should ever be seen by children.
It is said that over 30 percent of all data transferred across the internet is pornography (Kleinman,
2017). With much of this content being easy to access and free to view, it comes as no surprise that
numerous children find themselve viewing explicit content. A study was done that shows up to
fifteen percent of all 12 17 year olds view pornography through online sources or other means, this
includes unwanted exposure. The study also states that 70 percent of 15 17 year old internet users

Stuttering Speech
Most children begin to stutter from ages of two to four. Speech language pathologists notice
stuttering before parents do. Elementary school aged children are less aware of their stuttering,
but as they grow older they are more aware of their speech disfluency. Even famous politicians
who are required to speak in public events suffer from speech disorders, with an example being
former Vice President Joe Biden. There are different types of stutteringsuch as developmental and
acquired stuttering. Also, there are different treatment methods speech language pathologist use to
help children and adults deal with their stutter.
Stuttering is a communication disorder that affects the fluency of speech. This disorder causes
disruptions in speech sound such as prolongation and repetition of words. In some cases,
disfluencies are classified by using the words um or uh too often. Stuttering involves secondary
behaviors such as escape and avoidant behaviors. Some physical escape behaviors include trembling
jaw and nodding head. Those who stutter struggle with avoidance behaviors which include a word,
sound, and speech avoidance. Speech language pathologist differentiate speech disfluencies by
classifying it as between word and within word speech disfluencies. Between words are typical and
non stuttered which include phrase repetitions and interjections. Within word is typical and
stuttered which include sound/syllable repetitions, audible sound prolongations, and inaudible sound

The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography
The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked,
alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine
in 1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large
part to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong
lessons about human sexuality. To gain some fresh insights about these issues, this paper provides
a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to determine whether pornography
should be criminalized in the same fashion and for the same reasons that hate speech is
criminalized. A summary of the research and important findings concerning these issues are
provided in the conclusion. Review and Discussion The issue of pornography has long been the
source of controversy for many Western societies, particularly with respect to its implications for
gender roles and sexuality (Lofgren Martenson Mansson, 2010). For instance, according to Griffith
and Adams (2012), Issues regarding the production and consumption of pornographic materials
continue to be an intensely debated social topic (p. 245). The social context surrounding the debate
over whether pornography should be legal or not includes various principles concerning the
importance of gender equality and compulsory sex educational courses that place a high priority on
unrestricted rights to sexuality for both men and women

Messenger Protein Synthesis
Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger
RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the
genetic instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary,
because genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports
that information to the cytoplasm, where proteinsynthesis occurs at the ribosome.
Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein
synthesis occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino
acids by using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the
ribosome. The codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding
strand of the gene. Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing
polypeptide chain. During translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino
acids in the protein. The amino acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly
small and mobile type of RNA. Each transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific
amino acid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quantity ensures that there is at least one tRNA for each of the 20 different types of amino
acids used in protein synthesis. Each tRNA molecule has a 3 CCA sequence that attaches to an
amino acid. Transfer RNA s are typically 80 bases in length. Approximately midway along its
length, the polynucleotide chain of tRNA forms a loop, called the anticodon loop. This loop
contains 3 bases that can pair complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. The
nucleotide sequence of the anticodon dictates the type of amino acid transported by the transfer
RNA. For example, a tRNA with the anticodon ACA carries cysteine, whereas a tRNA with the
anticodon AAA carries

The Effectiveness of Mobile Computing Devices in Classroom...
The Effectiveness of Mobile Computing Devices in Classroom Instruction
Most schools, both local and international, are now venturing into using mobile computing devices
for classroom instruction. Thus, La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) pioneered the use of tablets in the
classrooms at the later part of 2012 and named this endeavor as the PERsonal Learning device
(PEARL) program. During its initial stage, students of the honors classes were selected as its
participants. On the following year around eight to nine sections in the High School level opted to
join the said program. However, during the course of the said program implementation, certain
issues have been raised that needed to be addressed by the school especially in the area of
student learning. Based on a study made by a group of LSGH High School teachers last February
2014 on the effectiveness of using tablets in Grade 10 English classes, it has been observed that
there is no distinct difference between the non tablet and tablet classes in terms of student
performance. This may be attributed to the following: 1). there is no definite strategic plan made
except for the roadmap on how the PEARL program will be implemented. 2). the infrastructure set
up was not carefully taken into consideration. 3). teachers have not been given enough training
prior to its implementation. 4). the policies and guidelines drafted on the students use of tablets
were vague or lacking in terms of giving sanctions to erring students.

How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture
In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is
important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek
culture were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The
Flow of History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the
language is said to have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened
the Linear A language to make it their own, it is known as Linear B.
The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared
most toward warfare. The peacefulness of the Minoan culture is depicted in their artwork, pottery,
as well as their architecture (The Flow of History, 2007). The ruins of the palaces from the
Minoans do not display any fortification to indicate they needed to protect themselves from
enemies. The weapons used in later Greek culture was similar to the weaponry crafted by the
Mycenaeans, as well as the Minoans. The noted difference is the metal, the Minoans and the
Mycenaeans crafted their weapons with bronze the later Greeks used iron (Matthews et. al., 2014).

In the later Greek culture, following the Dark Ages, trade was again the main focus for the
prosperity of the civilization (Matthews et. al., 2014). In both cultures there is a religious belief
in gods and goddesses, moreover, both shared in the worship of Zeus. There are various statues
depicting the gods, goddesses, as well as the heroes of both the Minoans and the Mycenaeans. The
Minoan culture worshipped Zeus in the form of a child who died as an adult, conversely, the
Mycenaeans worship Zeus as an immortal god who created and ruled both mortals as well as

Black Men And Public Spaces
Throughout life many people experience similar situations, although they are two different
many different kind of people. The kind of people depends on their personality. Brent Staples is
an author and writer for the New York Times. He gives two simple examples of two different
people in his excerpts Black Men and Public Spaces and Parallel Time showing their differences
and parallelism. Black Men in Public Spaces and Parallel Time show how two black men have
been stereotyped. Brent Staples on Black Men in public spaces recited that My first victim was
a woman white, well dressed, probably in her early twenties. I came upon her late one evening
on a deserted street in Hyde Park, a relatively affluent neighbourhood in an otherwise mean,
impoverished section of Chicago. As I swung onto the avenue behind her, there seemed to
district, uninflammatory[aa1] between us. Not so. She cast back a worried glance. To her, the
youngish black man aboard six feet two inches with a beard and billowing hair, both hands
shoved into the pocket of bulky military jacket seemed menacingly close. After a few more quick
glimpses, she picked up her pace and was soon running in earnest. Within second she disappeared
into cross street (132). The author clarified that the woman misjudged the black man, because he
was black, and the way he looked like. The same happened with the main character of Parallel Time
, while he was walking home. The author mentioned that At night,

Interview Summary Of Peter Holloway s On Virtual...
Interview summary for Peter Holloway, conducted on October 8, 2015 by Anita Sommer for the IRI
Virtual Experimentation and Simulation project.
Peter Holloway is a Systems Engineer with Rolls Royce Limited. He leads a team of simulation
tool developers that code, refine, and integrate existing modeling tools that are used in the
preliminary design phases of their jet engines. The preliminary design stages involve identifying
candidate engine architectures, preparing proposals, and presenting proposals to customers such as
Boeing and Airbus. Peter has been involved in simulation for about ten years in a number of
different companies and at various levels. His team consists mostly of domain experts that have lent
themselves to programming, with between three and five years of systems design experience.
Rolls Royce has a culture of allowing its engineering staff to develop experimentation and
simulation tools within their domain of expertise. Often however, these domain experts are not
experienced programmers and the tools the engineers develop are used by only a few people within
that domain. Peters team takes these tools, improves the code, making the tools more robust, and
most importantly from a simulation point of view, making the different tools talk to each other in
whole system simulation software.
Rolls Royce Ltd. uses virtual experimentation and simulation on both their products and processes
because it helps the company meet cost and time objectives when delivering

Piaget s Theory On Cognitive Development
This essay seeks to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of Piaget s theory on cognitive
development. It will focus on Piaget s work highlighting positive attributes and how they re being
applied in modern day and also delve on key limitations of the theory. Piaget was a Swiss
psychologist who was interested on why children would give similar but wrong answers in an
intelligence test (Vidal, 1994). Based on his observations, he concluded that children undergo
sequential cognitive development patterns which occur in defined stages in which the child has to
follow in succession (Martin, Carlson Buskist, 2013). Consequently, we will focus on the cognitive
abilities of a child in relation to socio cultural influence and research methodology that Piaget used.
Piaget s work has been appreciated in the education sector over the years. Education remains the
key pillar for any societal growth and it s very important to identify how best knowledge can be
passed to younger generations in a way that they can understand. Martin (2013) highlights that their
exists four unique stages of cognitive development exist with each stage bearing its unique
characteristics, thus teachers are able to develop curriculum that corresponds to the child s
cognitive ability. More importantly, teachers can establish how best to assimilate knowledge, for
example children in the sensorimotor group will learn explicitly faster through activities that
involve their senses and motor movements. Saettler

Origin Story The small bird flies in the blue sky. The little bird didn t like the plain white on its
feathers so it absorbed the blue of the sky. The blue disappears and the sky cries for its once stolen

pain. She looks at the world before her filled with no sorrow, grief, happiness, anger, color. The
world before our own was filled with no emotions, our world before the creation of feelings and
colors. A long time ago the only feeling that ever existed was the feeling of emptiness. We feel
this when we forget the colors in the world. When the colors blur once again in true emotion.

brown red. The rabbit was alive, she looked at the rabbit hop away rapidly which caused her to
feel something fill a little bit of the emptiness she felt. She decided to find more animals to cure

Stereotypes In Grey s Anatomy
I only viewed two stereotypes in the shows I watched. The first stereotype is that In Grey s
Anatomy they made women seem hysterical and clueless when it came to a pregnancy. They
also made the dads seem useless because they were hardly in the room. In the show they also
made The Doctors look arrogant and selfish because as if every doctor only believes in
experimenting instead of truly helping a patient. In the commercials there were a lot of
stereotypes. The asian aways played the smart guy or tech savvy guy. The older man always
played the wealthy guys or someone who is extremly sick in health. There was a certain Lexus
commercial that stuck with me because its a fast car a man is driving and when he gets home he

Authentic Dissent And The Devil s Advocate
The results of the study which compared authentic dissent and the devil s advocate found that the
devil s advocate did not reach the level of the original thoughts stimulated by the authentic dissenter
but in turn did stimulate a greater amount of thoughts that supported the initial viewpoint (Nemeth
et al., 2001). The study also revealed with the use of the three way ANOVA a significant variance
between minority authority and consistent devil s advocate. Planned contrast revealed that the
consistent devil s advocate was disliked more than the control (Nemeth et al., 2001). While the
authentic minority was only slightly disliked more than the control, these two methods did not
considerably fluctuate on likability (Nemeth et al., 2001). The use of the three level ANOVA did
have a noticeable change to the number of solutions found. It revealed that when using a planned
contrast model the authentic minority condition generated the most solutions to the results in the
study. With higher solutions than both consistent devil s advocate condition and the control, these
two did not fluctuate by much. Regarding the mood of the groups which these processes were used
seemed to be very similar. There were few differences between authentic minority and devil s
advocate with regard to anger and excitement (Nemeth et al., 2001). Concerning the observations of
the groups process, a third principle revealed three factors, harmony, stimulation, and group conflict

Current State Of The Us Economy Paper
Current State of the U.S. Economy
A nation s economy plays a vital role in how a nation operates. The United States economy faces
a large variety of problems in this paper; we will focus on 4 major economic problems,
unemployment, inequality, federal debt, and the financial/credit market. All four issues are
interconnected in some way with deep social and economic implications. These issues were
emphasized during the Great Recession that hit the U.S. economy in 2007.In the following paper,
we will look at each of the four topics individually as well as look at how each plays a significant
role in one another s overall impact on the U.S. economy as well as individuals in the United States.
The United States plays a crucial role in the world economy, meaning that every issue and difficulty
faced the United States economy has implications far outside the U.S., understanding how these
issues relate to one another sheds insight into just how connected every area of the economy
actually is.
Beginning with unemployment in the 2007 2009 recession, U.S. unemployment rates peaked at
10% as well as held 41 consecutive months at rates higher than eight percent (Lazear 1). The U.S.
economy plummeted during this time; many attributed the shift to a large decrease in the number
of employed workers. To be able to better understand the unemployment issue, we must first
examine the form of unemployment faced by the U.S. economy. Many believe that the changes
faced by the U.S. labor market

Uganda s Anti-gay Laws Essay
There has been an increase of gays all over the world in the last few generations. Some countries
have become accepting to it, but others are not having any of it and Uganda, a country in East
Africa, is one of them. Uganda has passed severe laws for an anti gay country. Some laws as
severe as life in prison or death sentence. The U.S. should step in and act as an International police
force before things get too out of hand because nobody should be put to death or spend lifetime in
prison for being who they are. Ugandabegan to see gay rights as a problem. Yoweri Museveni, the

Without the involvement of the American Evangelicals things maybe could ve been different.
Roger Ross Williams said, The Anti Homosexuality Bill would never have come about without
the involvement of the American Fundamental Evangelicals (Walker 30). Ever since the Anti
Homosexuality Bill was on the agenda, Ugandan LGBT have been living in constant fear of
discovery and prosecution ( Persecuted 4). A man named David Kato was a gay living in
Uganda. He was beaten with a hammer and died because he was gay. He was also involved in a
Rolling Stones Magazine article. There was a picture of Kato and two other gay man with a
banner on top that said, Hang Them, which was use as a statement to hang ALL the gays of
Uganda. David Kato believed there were two different ways to react to being gay. One way was to
be as secretive about it as possible. Or the other way was to be not ashamed of it. Kato was
proud to be gay even though it was risky, especially in the country of Uganda with all the new
Anti Homosexuality Bills. Kato televised a press conference to start the push for gay rights in
his own country ( Gay 96). After Kato had tried to push for gay rights he had been suffered
beatings by police and people of Uganda and has been arrested at least three times. Some Christian
pastors that toured around Uganda s towns said Kato was a dog, a pig, possessed by the devils (

RIP A Remix Manifesto
RIP: A Remix Manifesto offers a convincing case for copyright reform raising the issues about the
viscous control on the ownership of intellectual property against the free access to share ideas.
Gaylor (2008) is passionate about the ridiculous copyright laws and their ongoing restrictive
modifications in the USA that are demolishing the creativity of new ideas and innovations that
these copyrightlaws were originally meant to protect. Gaylor (2008) uses his favourite artist Girl
Talk who samples and remixes music, to centre his documentary in an effort to defend the public
domain and its ability to share free idea, along with the use of the remixer s manifesto Number 1.
Culture always builds on the past. Number 2. The past always tries to control the future. Number
3. Our future is becoming less free. Number 4. To build free societies you must limit the control
of the past. The first point made in the remixers manifesto involves Gaylor (2008) exploring the
history of artists who have used the creativity of the past for the inspiration of their new idea;
including Walt Disney and Metallica who has borrowed previously made song structures from
musicians both have now become harsh advocates for the current copyright laws. In keeping with
Gaylor s (2008) style, the remaining remix manifesto points will become a guideline for the
remaining essay along with the issues and case study that will be represented on the poster.

This assumption has all the evidence it needs to be upheld. Though millions of Catholics were
brainwashed by higher ranking church officials through cynical, selfish teachings, the reformation
of the Catholic Church saved an immeasurable amount of lives by gaining religious freedom in
Europe.
To hit the tip of the iceberg, high ranking church officials would brainwash regular citizens.
Though not the type of brainwashing seen in movies, church officials found an even more efficient
way to make sure their followers stayed put. Officials forced people to work for the church ( The
Roman Catholic Church in 1500 ). Though it seems that Catholics could have chosen not work for
the church, that is how they were always taught. These rogue teachings were frequently taught to
young, ignorant people so that a priest would have to ability to remain in power ( The Roman
Catholic Church in 1500 ). According to Wongoo Shim, the Catholic Church also used relics as
revenue which could be bought by the people. These relics pardoned sins and granted access to
heaven (Shim). Rich families would often buy their way into a higher ranking church position.
Separately, peasants were left desperate after having to pay for christenings, marriages, burials, and
anything else that required help from the church ( The Roman Catholic Church in 1500 ). There
was no other legal alternative for people. The Catholic Church did not tolerate any deviance from
its teachings.

I think the 3 major signers who made the biggest sacrifice are, John Hart, Richard Stockton and
Francis Lewis. I uprightly believe that John Hart had the worst of all. This man has been
through it all, he tried returning home to see his wife who lay on her death bed to find soldiers
ruining his farm and wrecking his homestead. He had to sleep in caves and woods and was
hunted across the countryside. When in the end embeded by hardship he managed to sneak home
to find he wife already buried and his 13 children removed from his home, he never saw them
again and died in 1779 without ever finding his family. Richard Stockton, Judge. He rushed back to

The Stages Of Cognitive Development
Children grow through a chain of four serious stages of cognitive development, according to
Jean Piaget, who is a well recognized psychologist. Through the observations he made of
children, Piaget established a theory of development involving four stages: the sensorimotor
stage, which is from birth to the age 2, the preoperational stage, from age 2 to about the age of 7
and the concrete operational stage, ranging from age 7 to 11. The last stage of his development
was the formal operational stage, which begins in adolescence and spans into adulthood (The 4
stages). Piaget said the most outstanding features of behavior happen within the first 2 years of
children lives. The child s world cannot be showed mentally, so in a very literal sense, articles
exist only when the child can physically see them for themselves. When objects are not seen by
them, then they to fail to even exist to the child. This shows the idea of object permanenceto the
child, which is knowing the solidity of an object.
The Sensorimotor stage is measured by children facing the world through senses that they use every
day. The children s thoughts are egocentric, which means that they cannot understand or see the
world through someone else s perspective other than their own (Jean Piaget). Infants start to learn
the world through their own movements and sensations every day. Learning everyday activities
such as sucking, grasping, and looking help in this stage of development. Children learn that things

We were thought how to crack our own passwords using a method called john the ripper . We also found out how secure various passwords and how long it would take for a desktop Pc to crack these passwords. We looked up various methods and applications to crack passwords. • 4. Salisbury House Case Study Question 3) Without doing specific research on buildings, instead just looking at their configuration and ornamentation, it is possible to estimate the date of construction. Using this method it is possible to conclude that the Salisbury House is older than the Salem Copland House located a few blocks away. The Salisbury House is a simple Greek Revival building that includes many aspects of the Federal style. The Federal style was primarily from 1780 1830 in the newly independent United States. Most of these buildings are simple boxes and are modestly ornamented. They are also characterized with low hipped roofs, six over six windows and two chimneys. The Salisbury House has many of the federal features, though it has more chimneys. There are features of the house such as the front and rear porch, bay windows and decoration that do not fit in the federal style, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 19th century Greek art and architecture was in vogue because of Lord Elgin buying/taking marble friezes from the temple of Athena Parthenon in the beginning of the century. Combined with the first democratic nation in a few millennia being founded, the popularity of Greek architecture boomed especially in the United States. Aspects of the Greek Revival style can be seen in the Salisbury House, especially in the ornamentation. Surrounding the third floor circular windows are laurel wreaths; they are reminiscent of the wreaths of the winners of the Ancient Greek Olympics wore. This subtle nod to the ancients is complemented by the simple Doric columns of the front and back porch. These traditional Doric columns have narrow fluting and are without a base. The column shape is replicated in the upper floors of the building with the weight bearing supports being visible. Having the mix of the two styles, Federal and Greek Revival, the Salisbury house can be dated to approximately the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The World The War Made By President Lincoln 1.The World the War Made a.Why does Foner say that the Emancipation Proclamation transformed a war of armies into a conflict of societies (3)? REQUIRED i.The Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Lincoln declared that all people held as slaves within the rebel states, are now and forever free. This quote is especially important because it demonstrates the effects on society after the Proclamation was signed. Because of these effects, the focus turned from war into the societal problems that this Proclamation brought about. The Emancipation was a turning point in national policy and in the character of war. Lincoln knew that the residents of the border states would never support abolition as a war aim, therefore he did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Johnson was military governor over Tennessee, he could use Johnson on the ballot to gain the traction within the occupied southern states. Lincoln and Johnson could work towards a smoother integration of Tennessee back into the Union. b.What does Foner mean when he says that there was a broader question suggested by the end of slavery: Should the freedmen be viewed as ready to take their place as citizens and participants in the competitive marketplace, or did their unique historical experience oblige the federal government to take special action in their behalf? (31) How did creation of the Freedmen s Bureau suggest one answer to this question? REQUIRED i.The creation of the Freedmen s Bureau suggests a great deal about the South during the Reconstruction era of the United States. The Bureau was created to help emancipated slaves and refugees have some kind of access to land. Along with access to land, the Bureau itself was empowered to distributes clothing, food, and fuel to those who have become free men. In my opinion, I believe the creation of the Freedmen s Bureau answered the question of citizenship in the sense that freedmen should be considered citizens right off the bat. Back then, owning property was a huge part of citizenship. By providing help with access to land, freedmen had the chance to become an equal citizen. 3.The Meaning of Freedom a.What did Jonathan C. • 6. Essay On Duke Ellington Duke Ellington: 1899 1974 Edward Duke Kennedy Ellington was born April 29, 1899 in Washington, D.C. Duke Ellington was born into a typical family with average income and growing up, the future musician was home schooled by his parents. His father James Edward Ellington and mother Daisy Kennedy Ellington were both pianist. His father played operatic arias while parlor songs were his mother s first choice. It is an interesting fact that Duke is not actually Ellington s name, but it is only his nickname, which children gave him when he was a little boy for his aristocratic manners and the ability to dress elegant things. When Duke was seven years old, he began his piano training and took lessons from Marietta Clinkscales. (Ruhlmann) Duke... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ellington s band thrived and played all throughout Washington and Virginia, usually playing for embassy and private parties. His band included Sonny Greer on drums, his childhood friend Otto Hardwick on alto saxophone, Elmer Snowden on banjo and Arthur Whetsol on trumpet. The group performed for both African American and white audiences which was quite rare in those times. When Ellington s drummer Sonny Greer joined the Wilber Sweatman Orchestra in New York City, he decided to leave behind his successful career in Washington, D.C and moved to Harlem. Shortly after his move to Harlem, in May of 1927, Andy Preer who had been leading the house band at the Cotton Club died. In looking for a replacement, the gig went to Duke Ellington and his men. The clubs decor was modelled after the old south of plantations and slavery, hence the name the Cotton Club . The club was segregated, meaning only whites were allowed in the audience, while all the waiters and entertainers were African American. What made Duke Ellington and his Cotton Club Orchestra famous were the weekly broadcasts on radio station WHN. (Cotton) These broadcasts were heard all over the country and gave Ellington national exposure. With the Great Depression worsening, the recording industry too was hit by the financial crisis and that resulted into dropping of over 90% of artist by the year 1933. (Ruhlmann) In the case of ... • 7. The Possible Causes of Cleft Lip and Palate Cleft lip and/or palate is a condition where the tissue of the lip did not completely close during embryotic formation that affects 1 in 700 people born. Though not immediately fatal, the disorder can cause complications with consuming and speech that could lead to more serious problems. The only way to fix the gap is to surgically go in and sew the two sides of the lip /palate together; this is a comparable easier and faster solution than other solutions out there for different disorders. Many people who get the surgery recover fine, have slight physical differences, and are able to succeed in society like anyone else (condition does not hinder mental state or ability drastically). This condition has many different phenotypes that fall in two categories, unilateral cleft and bilateral cleft (Dixon et al., 2011). In a unilateral cleft, only one side of the palate or lip is affected (asymmetrical) while in a bilateral cleft, both sides are affected usually in a symmetric pattern. Because of the large range of phenotypes, it is very difficult to trace back to certain genes and factors and figure out how these factors together influence the expression of the trait. Cleft lip and/or palate can be expressed by itself, called non syndromic, or with other conditions including Kabuki syndrome, called syndromic (Dixon et al., 2011). Depending on the type of disorder, this condition is caused by different chromosomes and mutations on these chromosomes. For example, if it is indeed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Donald Trump s Use Of Artifice In The Media Political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda to create a sense of faux intimacy with citizens, no longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest. In the quote, Hedges is explaining who uses artifice and what they do with their power. Artifice is a skill that is difficult to maintain and keep realistic. Being the most essential skill, artifice is the art of deceiving. People s ideas and thoughts are altered for the gain of one and the loss of another. Everyone will need artifice at some point in their life to get the attention, item, or person they want. Specifically, our current President, Donald Trump, uses artifice all too much. He has exceeded his use of artifice. Trump won was because of his excellent use of artifice. He was able to persuade enough people to vote for him and his changes he would fulfill. Artifice takes quite skill to make believable for your audience. The importance of artifice during his ruling is immense, making it the most essential skill. Donald Trump is portrayed as a lying, evil individual in the media. Although we may not know the complete and total truth, we are able to identify that he is lying about something. For example, one of the very first things Trump had said to gather the attention of the audience would be about getting rid of all illegal immigrants. Rapidly, people began turning their heads and opening their ears when they finally understood what he was trying to do. The consistency and emotional appeal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Implementation Of Ipd And Traditional Delivery Method Implementation of IPD creates benefits for users according to a survey of AIACC and the Associated General Contractors of America in 2008; specifically, IPD reduced 46% of design and construction time, increased 58% of project quality, saved 61% of project costs, cut down 71% of project change orders and delays, and decreased 84% of conflicts occurred during the project. Therefore, numerous construction experts recommend users to implement IPD in all construction project types in order to minimize total project duration and costs (Cho Ballard, 2011; FCMAA, 2008; Darrington Balzarano, 2010; El adaway, 2010). Figure 1.4. Comparison between IPD and Traditional Delivery Method (Retrieved from AIA California Council, 2007) According to Figure 1.4, IPD is obviously different from traditional project delivery method with an early participation of all key members and shortening total project duration along with specific phases represented distinctly needed work for each team member (AIA, 2007). As a result, IPD process is sufficiently useful for any type of construction projects; however, this fairly new and unaccustomed approach is being evaluated by professionals and practitioners for a reliable outcome (Ashcraft, 2011). Reconstruction was a period of repair after the civil war. Freed African Americans were protected by the government during reconstruction by the Freedmen s Bureau, despite the South s bitterness towards the new changes. Overall, reconstruction was positive because it brought many affirmative changes for African Americans. First of all, the actions taken by the government to ensure that Freedmen in the South were protected during the reconstruction was the establishment of the Freedmen s Bureau. The Freedmen s Bureau was established in March 1865, which helped African Americans achieve economic stability and secure political freedoms. Some of the things the Freedmen s Bureau did was ensure that the former slaves earned fair and equal wages. I believe walls have many adverse effects on people, countries, and civilizations, and I believe a poem from Robert Frost and a speech from Ronald Reagan help prove that point. Both Frost and Reagan discuss the lack of benefits walls have for people. In Frost s poem, the narrator states that We wear our fingers rough with handling them. This shows that the upkeep of the wall causes the narrator and neighbor physical harm, when they are gaining nothing in return for keeping the wall. In Reagan s speech, he is addressing the East and he states I join you, as I join your fellow countrymen in the West, disclosing that the people of Berlin should be together when they are separated. I believe Reagan is also trying to touch on how the people of Berlin are separated from their family and friends if they are unlucky enough to be on opposite sides of the wall, and that there is no way for those people to reach their family and friends because they would be killed if they tried to get over the wall without permission. • 19. My Experience Of Teens It is truly astonishing how much we, as teens in the 21st century, take for granted. We go through our day, as if everything we do is a given right, rather than a privilege that we have. We don t ever stop to think about how so much, could be taken away from us in an instant. It was Monday, June 5th, 2017. I had just come back from an invitational hockey camp in Canada and I was up bright and early that morning so that I could go to Westridge and take my last two finals of the year. By the time I had gotten in the car, it was 7:20 in the morning, and I felt ready to take my finals. While in the car, my mom was listening to KBS radio station. I wasn t completely listening, but from what I could hear, the station was talking about a single engine planecrash in the Santa Rosa Valley that happened the other day. They were just mentioning how the two victims in the plane crash were identified just as I was getting out of the car. From there, I tried to clear my mind of everything and just reviewed the things that I knew. I walked onto campus with my face inside a binder and although I knew the material, I attempted to cram even more useless information into my brain. I stopped in front of my math classroom when I felt my phone ringing inside of my crossbody bag, against my hip. I grabbed my phone out of my bag to see that I already had 4 missed calls from one of my good friends, Miles Brodey. Assuming that Miles would be calling me with a purpose, I adjourned my terse review ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Divergent Movie Analysis Introduction: Divergent is an action film directed by Neil Burger. This film takes place in Chicago, which is placed in a futuristic world where society divides people into five factions based on their personalities. As each person grows up and becomes an adult they have to choose a faction which they will stay in for the rest of their lives. Beatrice Prior is the main character in Divergent and she changes a lot throughout the film, starting off as not knowing who she is and why she isn t like everybody else. To finding out and learning who she is and becoming more confident in herself. The director uses a variety of different film techniques including close ups, and wide shots to show how Tris is feeling, and how she is changing throughout Divergent. Paragraph 1: At the beginning of the film, Tris is very quiet and naive. She was born into the faction Abnegation, they live a simple life, selfless, dedicated to helping others, this tells us that Tris s life isn t exciting and she was born to put others before herself. When Tris is in her room, getting ready for the choosing ceremony where she will get the chance to choose a new faction, the director uses an over the shoulder shot to show her reflection in the mirror. Tris s face looks very nervous and scared as to what faction she will choose and what it will be like. This helps the audience understand that she is quite anxious for a new changeand wonders if she is still a part of Abnegation, or will fit into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Heavily disputed arguments have arisen about whether humans are the sole intelligent beings in the universe. Scientists continuously search for the answer, but the search has not as yet yielded positive results. Billions of dollars have been spent in research, causing controversy about whether scientists should invest in the hunt for extraterrestrial beings. Due to inadequate technology, humans cannot currently identify whether extraterrestrial lifeexists, leading to arguments that scientists should refrain from searching for them. Since odd creatures are found in environments similar to Europa s on Earth, then life can possibly survive on the moon. Experts cannot rule out life under the ice on Europa, because of the similarities to the Earth s environment. Therefore, they must carry on researching. Even though finding similar environments to inhabitable areas on the Earth is helpful, it may hold little importance when discovering life. Open University s Preston says, Most of the environments we used to think were sterile are proving to have life. Every time we think we ve found somewhere on Earth that life can t survive in, we go and find a part of life that can (Fecht). This could be true on other planets as well, so scientists do not have to look for planets with similar environments to Earth. Aliens may have adapted to a different environment than Earth s. Scientists have discovered living beings in places on Earth which seemed unlivable, so if humans look at planets that seem uninhabitable they may find life as well. Once again, with this new knowledge, scientists should proceed in searching for extraterrestrials. Although some evidence suggests that extraterrestrial life exists in outer space, some evidence proves otherwise. Lack of valid evidence and economic consequences associated with the search for extraterrestrials discourages scientists to continue with the investigation. Case Study Of Oak Hills Based on the report and case study of Oak Hills facility, it is a fact that the processes and operations require a massive overhaul if it wants to remain competitive and improve its efficiency as a manufacturing business. Lean manufacturing might be able to solve some of its issue in terms of its process in production. Below are some of the recommendations that Oak Hills should look into. i.Adopting Supply Chain practise The management of Oak Hills should look into the supply chain management to improve its efficiency in its production process. This could boost the inventory control and organization performance. This can also be done through aligning the supply chain to maximise its effectiveness. A best practice is a process that produces the best benchmark for a specific task (Gilmore, 2007). • 23. I Really Enjoyed Holly Weeks Piece On Stressful Conversations Intro I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own experience. Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress gets high very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation fail, this is a thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the reader to remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also provoking us to examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with stressful conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by describing the processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally. Know Thyself Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point in this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to evolve without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author provided, in retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it differently. Holly Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of emotional situation we probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good word for it, tactics, though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a race, these tactics are ones the subconscious uses to ... • 25. Gender Bias And Its Effect On Education Leedy, LaLonde, and Runk (2003) found that their data supported and built on the findings of other researchers concerning gender stereotypes. They found that girls who were motivated and had mathematical talent were still subject to the effects of gender bias and that they had decreased confidence in their mathematical abilities. The research also indicated a continuing belief that math is a maledomain. Females did not acknowledge the stereotype and felt the survey was biased and insulting and left comments saying so. No such comments were left by males. The belief by men that math is a male domain, coupled with the failure of women to acknowledge the biases existence sets up an unrealistic relationship. The researchers postulated that rather than denying biases exist, we must acknowledge them so that we can move on and reform education. They felt that the reforms need to occur outside, as well as inside, the classroom, and must include parents, especially mothers. The attitudes of all parties involved must be changed for reform to be effective. Riegle Crumb and Moore (2013) found that females were underrepresented in the engineering course they studied. Although female students made up 50% of the enrollment at the high schools, they only comprised an average of 14% of course enrollees. The risk takes the form of every lewd, violent, and undesirable website which exists in the vast network of information. The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked, alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine in 1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large part to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong lessons about human sexuality. • 36. Messenger Protein Synthesis Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the genetic instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that information to the cytoplasm, where proteinsynthesis occurs at the ribosome. Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein synthesis occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino acids by using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene. Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide chain. During translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino acids in the protein. The amino acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... • 39. The Effectiveness of Mobile Computing Devices in Classroom... The Effectiveness of Mobile Computing Devices in Classroom Instruction Most schools, both local and international, are now venturing into using mobile computing devices for classroom instruction. Thus, La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) pioneered the use of tablets in the classrooms at the later part of 2012 and named this endeavor as the PERsonal Learning device (PEARL) program. During its initial stage, students of the honors classes were selected as its participants. On the following year around eight to nine sections in the High School level opted to join the said program. However, during the course of the said program implementation, certain issues have been raised that needed to be addressed by the school especially in the area of student learning. Based on a study made by a group of LSGH High School teachers last February 2014 on the effectiveness of using tablets in Grade 10 English classes, it has been observed that there is no distinct difference between the non tablet and tablet classes in terms of student performance. This may be attributed to the following: 1). there is no definite strategic plan made except for the roadmap on how the PEARL program will be implemented. 2). the infrastructure set up was not carefully taken into consideration. 3). teachers have not been given enough training prior to its implementation. 4). the policies and guidelines drafted on the students use of tablets were vague or lacking in terms of giving sanctions to erring students. ... How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek culture were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The Flow of History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the language is said to have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened the Linear A language to make it their own, it is known as Linear B. The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared most toward warfare. The peacefulness of the Minoan culture is depicted in their artwork, pottery, as well as their architecture (The Flow of History, 2007). The ruins of the palaces from the Minoans do not display any fortification to indicate they needed to protect themselves from enemies. The weapons used in later Greek culture was similar to the weaponry crafted by the Mycenaeans, as well as the Minoans. He gives two simple examples of two different people in his excerpts Black Men and Public Spaces and Parallel Time showing their differences and parallelism. Black Men in Public Spaces and Parallel Time show how two black men have been stereotyped. Brent Staples on Black Men in public spaces recited that My first victim was a woman white, well dressed, probably in her early twenties. Interview summary for Peter Holloway, conducted on October 8, 2015 by Anita Sommer for the IRI Virtual Experimentation and Simulation project. Peter Holloway is a Systems Engineer with Rolls Royce Limited. He leads a team of simulation tool developers that code, refine, and integrate existing modeling tools that are used in the preliminary design phases of their jet engines. The preliminary design stages involve identifying candidate engine architectures, preparing proposals, and presenting proposals to customers such as Boeing and Airbus. Peter has been involved in simulation for about ten years in a number of different companies and at various levels. His team consists mostly of domain experts that have lent themselves to programming, with between three and five years of systems design experience. Rolls Royce has a culture of allowing its engineering staff to develop experimentation and simulation tools within their domain of expertise. Often however, these domain experts are not experienced programmers and the tools the engineers develop are used by only a few people within that domain. Peters team takes these tools, improves the code, making the tools more robust, and most importantly from a simulation point of view, making the different tools talk to each other in whole system simulation software. • 46. Piaget s Theory On Cognitive Development This essay seeks to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of Piaget s theory on cognitive development. It will focus on Piaget s work highlighting positive attributes and how they re being applied in modern day and also delve on key limitations of the theory. Piaget was a Swiss psychologist who was interested on why children would give similar but wrong answers in an intelligence test (Vidal, 1994). Based on his observations, he concluded that children undergo sequential cognitive development patterns which occur in defined stages in which the child has to follow in succession (Martin, Carlson Buskist, 2013). Consequently, we will focus on the cognitive abilities of a child in relation to socio cultural influence and research methodology that Piaget used. Piaget s work has been appreciated in the education sector over the years. Education remains the key pillar for any societal growth and it s very important to identify how best knowledge can be passed to younger generations in a way that they can understand. Martin (2013) highlights that their exists four unique stages of cognitive development exist with each stage bearing its unique characteristics, thus teachers are able to develop curriculum that corresponds to the child s cognitive ability. More importantly, teachers can establish how best to assimilate knowledge, for example children in the sensorimotor group will learn explicitly faster through activities that involve their senses and motor movements. Authentic Dissent And The Devil s Advocate The results of the study which compared authentic dissent and the devil s advocate found that the devil s advocate did not reach the level of the original thoughts stimulated by the authentic dissenter but in turn did stimulate a greater amount of thoughts that supported the initial viewpoint (Nemeth et al., 2001). The study also revealed with the use of the three way ANOVA a significant variance between minority authority and consistent devil s advocate. Planned contrast revealed that the consistent devil s advocate was disliked more than the control (Nemeth et al., 2001). While the authentic minority was only slightly disliked more than the control, these two methods did not considerably fluctuate on likability (Nemeth et al., 2001). The use of the three level ANOVA did have a noticeable change to the number of solutions found. It revealed that when using a planned contrast model the authentic minority condition generated the most solutions to the results in the study. With higher solutions than both consistent devil s advocate condition and the control, these two did not fluctuate by much. Regarding the mood of the groups which these processes were used seemed to be very similar. Though not the type of brainwashing seen in movies, church officials found an even more efficient way to make sure their followers stayed put. Officials forced people to work for the church ( The Roman Catholic Church in 1500 ). Though it seems that Catholics could have chosen not work for the church, that is how they were always taught. These rogue teachings were frequently taught to young, ignorant people so that a priest would have to ability to remain in power ( The Roman Catholic Church in 1500 ). According to Wongoo Shim, the Catholic Church also used relics as revenue which could be bought by the people. These relics pardoned sins and granted access to heaven (Shim). Rich families would often buy their way into a higher ranking church position. Separately, peasants were left desperate after having to pay for christenings, marriages, burials, and anything else that required help from the church ( The Roman Catholic Church in 1500 ). • 59. The Stages Of Cognitive Development Children grow through a chain of four serious stages of cognitive development, according to Jean Piaget, who is a well recognized psychologist. Through the observations he made of children, Piaget established a theory of development involving four stages: the sensorimotor stage, which is from birth to the age 2, the preoperational stage, from age 2 to about the age of 7 and the concrete operational stage, ranging from age 7 to 11. The last stage of his development was the formal operational stage, which begins in adolescence and spans into adulthood (The 4 stages). Piaget said the most outstanding features of behavior happen within the first 2 years of children lives. The child s world cannot be showed mentally, so in a very literal sense, articles exist only when the child can physically see them for themselves. When objects are not seen by them, then they to fail to even exist to the child. This shows the idea of object permanenceto the child, which is knowing the solidity of an object. The Sensorimotor stage is measured by children facing the world through senses that they use every day. The children s thoughts are egocentric, which means that they cannot understand or see the world through someone else s perspective other than their own (Jean Piaget). Infants start to learn the world through their own movements and sensations every day. Learning everyday activities such as sucking, grasping, and looking help in this stage of development.
