Affordable Care Act Essay
Writing an essay on the Affordable Care Act can be a challenging task, as it requires a
comprehensive understanding of the complex healthcare legislation and its implications. The
topic encompasses various aspects such as the historical context of the Act, its key provisions, its
impact on healthcare accessibility and affordability, political debates surrounding it, and potential
future developments.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating through the intricate details of the Affordable Care Act.
The legislation itself is multi-faceted, involving numerous provisions aimed at transforming the
healthcare landscape in the United States. Analyzing and interpreting these provisions, along
with their real-world implications, demands careful research and attention to detail.
Furthermore, crafting a well-rounded essay requires delving into the political landscape
surrounding the Affordable Care Act. This involves understanding the ideological debates,
policy disagreements, and the historical context that led to the Act's inception. Discussing the
various perspectives on the legislation, including both its proponents and critics, adds depth to
the essay but also requires a balanced and nuanced approach.
Research is another aspect that adds to the complexity of the task. Staying updated with the
latest developments, statistics, and scholarly analyses is crucial for presenting a well-informed
and relevant discussion. It may involve sifting through a vast amount of information, discerning
credible sources, and synthesizing data to support the arguments presented in the essay.
Moreover, the evolving nature of healthcare policy and the Affordable Care Act itself means that
the essay should not only capture the current state of affairs but also consider potential future
changes and their implications. This requires a forward-looking perspective and an ability to
anticipate how healthcare policies might evolve.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the Affordable Care Act demands a thorough understanding of
the legislation, a nuanced analysis of its impact, an exploration of political dynamics, and an
awareness of the ongoing developments in healthcare policy. It is a task that requires dedication,
research skills, and the ability to present complex information in a clear and cohesive manner.

The Quiet American Movie Vs Book
Philip Noyce s version of Graham Greene s novel The Quiet American to film was
a large success. It stayed pretty close to the book, and kept the personalities of the
character s the same. What I respected about the movie was that the director chose
to film in actual Vietnamese locations and without compromise, boldly sticking to
the novel by not letting the Americans come out of the story too kindly. It was
filmed greatly and he captured so many details of Vietnam. Brenden Fraiser and
Michael Caine did an amazing job portraying their characters. The first difference
that you can see is that the book was in first person and the movie was in third. This
being said, there were scenes added into the movie that was not in the book. I wasn t

He has negative outlook on what seems like everything. I personally had a hard
time reading the book because of the negativity from Fowler. Pyle in the book was
the opposite. I was more interested in Pyle because of his softer nature. What I like
about Pyle is how he would stick up and defend Phuong when Fowler made rude
comments. Fowler said that Phuong was merely a beautiful tool for his sexual
pleasures. Pyle responded That s a dirty crack. I won t have her insulted. You have no
right... (TQA, Graham Greene, 1955, pg 78) This shows Pyle s passion and soft
nature. Michael Caine is excellent as Fowler in the movie. He plays an aging
unmotivated but skilled reporter very good. On the other hand Fowler in the film is a
lot more vulnerable, especially as the film goes on, and his weaknesses begins to
show. The movie never shows Fowler telling Pyle how he feels about Phuong. He
says that he is detached but then becomes very involved in what is going on
around him. With that action I feel it shows that he does care about Phuong but
doesn t know how to handle it. Thomas Fowler is a complex character, and it is
hard to compare him to his character in the book. The movie doesn t show his
personality and depth of character as the book does. The movie portrays him more
likeable with more dignity and less bitter. Fowler s character does still give us that
deep sense of how the political he is. Although I was disappointed because I feel
they took a huge part of the book and tossed it out by changing
The Gentle Lena Essay
Lena s gentle, sweet, servant like behavior was a commentary on the way on the
way society saw and treated women in the early 20th century. Lena did not have an
opinion of her own, she did not know how to make decisions on her own; she was
told what to think, where to work, what to do with her money, her free time and her
future; her life was designed by someone else because she was a women and unable
to make decisions for herself. In the early 20th centurysociety treated women as
though they were not important, their duties were to have children, cook and clean
for their husbands and much like children of this timeperiod, women were to be were
to be seen but their voices not heard with regards to anything outside of the family. It

Upon arrival in America Lena was made to work as a servant, while her Aunt
searched for a good husband for her. There was not one moment where Lena
questioned why: why did she have to leave Germany and go to America, why did
she have to work as a servant, why did she have to go to her Aunt s house every
Sunday, why couldn t she spend the money she worked hard to make, why did she
have to get married when she enjoyed working as a servant for the family, why did
she have to marry Herman Kreder when he obviously did not want to marry her. Lena
was just expected, as women in that timeperiod were, to just submit to the whims of
the dominent member of her family. Lena was so dutiful throughout the story, dutiful
to the point where modern day readers may actually get frustrated or angry with this
character.
Lena lived her life passively and took what came her way without complaint; the
cook who scolded Lena a great deal but Lena s german patience held no suffering
and the good incessant woman really only scolded for Lena s good (Stein 143). Her
cousins (Mrs. Hoydon s children) were mean, rude and ridiculed her horribly, and yet
she continued to go to their home every other Sunday as required by Mrs. Hoydon
...but it never came to Lena s unexpectant and unsuffering german nature to do
something different from what was expected of her, just because she would like
Food Contamination Issues
Food contamination issues are common in the industry, but they can be dangerous.
We are a small company so minimizing these issues are important since we cannot
handle losses as well as larger companies. An example of a contamination could
happen like this: A food contamination issue has surfaced in New England. One of
our potato salad mixtures has been tested positive with bacteria and already two
people have gotten sick from it. So how should we handle a crisis on this level? The
mantra for this plan is honesty, transparency, and liability. The contamination is on
us, so we need to rebuild our brand and reestablish trust. More importantly, we need
to work as quickly as possible. Crisis Team The team should be representative of all

Since the company is conducting an investigation, employees that were on shift
during the production of the contaminated products will be questioned. Suppliers
for these products will be contacted asking them to work with us as we resolve the
problem. We will also remain in contact with the FDA so that we follow protocol.
When the source of the contamination is found, proper measures will be taken so
that it does not happen again. If it was a problem during production then necessary
steps will be planned accordingly. On the other hand, if the issue was caused from a
supplier then ties will be cut immediately. Since only a few people were affected by
the contamination we will pay their medical bills and offer our condolences. When
contaminations are on a larger scale only some compensation will be provided. After
the investigation is complete and the contamination is solved, the media will be
notified that the company is in the clear. Following the contamination, the company
should work on regaining trust with its consumers. We can provide deals on products
and offer contests with prizes. More importantly, the company should show the safety
of its production facilities through the website and a
Review Of First Person Narration Of Bang
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang(2005) Short Response Essay The narration of Kiss Kiss Bang
Bang is told through a First Person narration by Harry Lockhart, protagonist of the
movie. The narrative is categorized into three parts such as the Setup of the film, the
Conflicts and Obstacles the protagonist faces throughout, and the conclusion of the
film, also known as the Resolution. The setting begins with a flashback at a county
fair with a young Harry dressed as a magician and performing a saw trick involving a
girl. The flashback ends with the girl yelling that she wants to become an actress
before cutting into the opening. The setting then flashes forward to the 21st century,
this time, at a celebrity party in Los Angeles. Throughout the film, Harry

The image displays a dead bird with a strong emphasis on the small manmade

message. EWT knew the text would get our attention by making us feel

By eliminating that grey area they can convince more of the audience to their way
of thinking. The logic is pretty simple, If you don t pick it up, they will . It directs
the text straight toward individuals and by showing the dead bird and the manmade
objects eaten by it helps solidify the truth to the word they . The evidence is shown
in the picture with the objects in the bird and they know that the audience has seen
how bad pollution is around them and this helps solidify or convince the reader into
the author s way of thinking. Makes you ask yourself if you would have made better

The Bus Lane At Lion s Park Train Station
The number nine bus, packed full of students eager to get home, pulled into the bus
lane at Lion s Park train station. Halfway there, I thought, happy to be done with
another stressful day of classes. After most of the other passengers disembark to
board the train, those of us which stay on the buseach have our own seats.
The bus driver steps off the bus, as he does each day, to smoke a cigarette. Each
day I contemplate how the complex interplay of individuals can become simple
routine, reduced to the same exhausted ride to school every morning, matched to
the seemingly endless ride home every afternoon. I wouldn t be able to cope with
the chaos that some people enjoy, I prefer my simple, reliable routines.
Nevertheless, every day I contemplate the paths each of the passengers had to follow
for this scene to play out as it does each day. The path that inevitably leads to me
sitting on the bus and watching the driver smoke his cigarette at the same time, in the
same place, five out of seven days a week.
I look up to another familiar scene playing out beyond the Plexiglas windows of the
bus: a group of homeless men passing their days exposed to the elements. Some are
splayed out across the lawns of an adjacent office building, others are digging in the
cracks of the pavement for cigarette butts. Nothing special, the same group of men
stand in the same places doing the same things every day.
I sit and watch the men and wonder why they are always here. Why do they always
Robert Agnew General Strain Theory
Throughout history a lot of experts have tried to understand why some people feel the
need to commit crimes, even though there have been harsh laws enforced for those
who commit crimes. These people have come up with theories as to why people
commit crimes to understand these theories, we must understand what a crimeis and
understand the definition of theories.
Crime is a human conduct that violates the laws of a state or the federal government.
There are different ways people view criminal behaviors either through the view of
the social problem perspective which blames the society and the social responsibility
which blames the person who committed the crime. Through these two perspectives
we get the idea of theories. A theoryis a comprehensive explanation about certain
experiences which are based on facts that have been gathered overtime. These
theories explain the mental reason people are more pushed to commit crimes.
Theories like Robert Agnews General Strain Theory has given us an explanation as
to phenomena criminal behavior. In 1992 strain theory was reformulated by Robert
Agnew and called the general strain theory. Agnew felt as though that strain theory
was not fully explaining the main reason people are pushed to commit crimes, so he
came up with a theory he felt was a better explanation and a reason as to why crimes
were committed.
The concept of general strain theory comes from the idea that people commit crimes
to use it as a means of copping with the
The Positive And Negative Consequences Of Gentrification...
Stigmas have been an essential tool to navigate the complexities of the cultural world.
Often, stigmas are associated with an attribute that is deeply discrediting towards a
group of people, but stigmas are not exclusively attributed to social groups (Goffman
13). Certain words hold stigmas that warp our understanding of that word. The
negative stigma associated with the word gentrification has created many
misunderstandings of what gentrificationг…Ўand its natureг…Ўis. Gentrification is
the process of restoring and reconstructing deteriorating communities and can be
paired with the movement of wealthy individuals from the surrounding community to
the gentrified one. People attributed a stigma with gentrification because many people
see gentrification as a one sided topic. Availability biases portray gentrification as
something communities should avoid. However, gentrification is a multifaceted and
a controversial topic with positive, negative, neutral, and even unknown
consequences. When looking beyond the stigmas associated with gentrification, there
are some positive consequences that society often overlooks. Negative consequences
often overshadow the positive consequences, which perpetuate the notion that
gentrification is bad and is a one sided issue. In reality, gentrification is
misunderstood; gentrification is neither good nor bad because there are too many
contrasting factors and consequences that can arise from gentrification. Instead of
labelling gentrification as
The Industrial Revolution And The French Revolution
The Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution are both integral parts of
European history. Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded
different parts of Europe and had different social ramifications. The Industrial
Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the beginning of new innovations along
with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began during the year 1789,
with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy. The
French Revolution ended ten years later during the year 1799 with the French
overthrowing the monarchy and starting their own form of government. While both
revolutions have had a huge impact on modern day Europe, the innovations along
with the social changes that occurred during the Industrial Revolutionmake it more
significant than the French Revolution. Before the Industrial Revolution, Britain
was comprised of rural areas where most of the population resided. A lot of their
time revolved around agriculture as a means of survival and as a way to make an
income. They also built and produced most of their clothing, furniture and homes
with machines that were simple and small tools. As time went by, people came up
with different ideas and changed the methods in which they were able to produce
agriculture. This led to an increase in food production which was steadily available to
the population that was rising and working factories. These events would become
apart of what would start the Industrial
Essay on Impact of West Nile Virus on Humans
The Impact of West Nile Virus on Humans (or Why We Should Worry)
West Nile virus can infect humans, but there are more drastic ways that it affects our
lives. The virus normally lives in birds and is transmitted among them and other
animals by mosquitoes. There is no other definite method of transmission, and people
do not have to worry about contracting the virus through contact with infected
humans or animals. Hundreds of species of birds and many mammals, including
several endangered species, are vulnerable to the virus. Many domestic animals are
also susceptible, but the virus does not create any symptoms in most of them. There
is no way of getting rid of the virus once an animal has been infected, but a vaccine
for horses has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

WNV s Impact on Humans 2 serious symptoms, such as high fever, disorientation,
vision loss, numbness, and paralysis. Because West Nile is a virus, it cannot be cured
by antibiotics. People who display serious symptoms are given supportive treatment,
which may include intravenous fluids and respiratory support until they recover
(CDC, 2004).
Animals found in the wild are also susceptible to West Nile virus. It is fatal to up to
285 species of birds, which are the reservoirs that the virus normally lives in (CDC,
2005). Members of the avian family Corvidae, which includes crows, ravens,
magpies, and jays (CDC, 2003), are especially vulnerable to West Nile virus, as seen
during the 1999 New York epidemic, when hundreds of crows died from the virus.
Other animals that have been found carrying the virus include squirrels, chipmunks,
skunks, and bats (Lee, 2003). Although humans do not have to worry about becoming
infected by West Nile virus by handling infected animals, they should be aware that
reports of animals that have died from the virus is an indication that there are
mosquitoes that are carrying the virus in the area. Some endangered or threatened
species are also susceptible to West Nile virus, including Asian elephants, great Indian
rhinoceros,

manufactures three kinds of bar stools (pedestal, four legged corner, and four

of bar stools. Major cost variations have been associated with defective wood,
imprecise cuts, and late deliveries to customers. Mr. Woody must decide how to
organize his company to maintain high quality and profits. He has thought about
several options. He could have some individuals perform the first step for all types of
bar stools; he could have an individual perform several steps for one type of bar stool;
or he could have a team perform some combination of steps
King Kong Film Analysis
In 1933, Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack created a colossal ape that
would change the cinema industry forever. When I was 9, I remember watching
the 1967 version King Kong, my mom bought me a small King Kong toy to play
with after. I remember at the age of 9 destroying Lego buildings as I loved every
minute of it. Little did I know how racist this film was due to my young age and
incompetence. I only cared about the giant monkey that destroyed anything in its
way; now I see the ugliness that I did not recognize growing up. I want to thank you
Dr. James for assigning this project as you gave me the opportunity to watch these
King Kongfilms as I so idolized growing up.
The whole purpose of a movie, (or any type of entertainment) is to distract you
from your real life. On a deep psychological level, we use movies to temporarily
escape for a little bit, which was gigantic for people suffering in the Great
Depression. Now, when you think of the typical Hollywood bestseller movie, you
picture the girl always in some type of trouble and she needs assistance from the
hero . We see this in Shrek, Twilight, The Dark Knight series, Star Wars, Spiderman
etc. This is a type of movie strategy directors use called Damsel in Distress .
In the 1933 King Kong, this was by far the most successful Damsel in Distress for
its time, as audiences in the 1930s were not expecting the stop animation displayed.
You can argue, due to the success of King Kong in 1933 that movie directors
The Glass Castle Character Analysis
In The Glass Castle , pages 62 121, some of the characters have an experience that
makes them undergo a change in character. While it is not too noticeable, if you dig
deep into the text you can see how the characters are affected, and possibly make
some predictions of how this is later relevant to the story. Some of the predictions
and assumptions may not be totally accurate, but are made based on evidence from
the story. Jeanette, Brian, and Lori all go through a transformation after they each
experienced some sort of distressing event. The first transformative event happens to
Jeanette in the hot pool. Jeanette s father is trying to teach her how to swim by
throwing her into the deep water and telling her to sink or swim. When she... Show

The next transformative event happens to Brian. Brian was intrigued by The Green
Lantern since it was a place his parents had always warned them about. Brian was
dared to go talk to the woman on the porch, with whom he became smitten with.
After this event, it can be inferred that Brian started distrusting what his parents had
to say since he didn t have a bad experience. Later on his birthday, Brian learns the
truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with
Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad
and Ginger came out, she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept
staring at the comic book, even though he d already read it all the way through
twice. I think that this is implying that Brian knew what they were doing since he
read it twice. I believe he read it multiple times to distract him from what was going
on in the other room. Afterwards, his father makes him give the comic book to
Ginger which makes Brian angry. Brian loses his only source of sanity during that
moment. I think the comic book was a symbol Brian s innocence and he was holding
onto it until his father made him give it up. The comic book was with him and helped
him get through the traumatic experience in the hotel which could be another reason
he was so angry to let it go. In addition, Jeanette hints at Brian knowing what they did
since he knows that the women make

during the time the movie Mr. Smith Goes to Washington took place. Mr. Smith s

This docility and willingness to vote according to the older Senators was most likely
caused by the new Senators fear of the political bosses. Mr. Smith, however, was
sheltered from knowing that the political bosses even existed and, as a result, was not
afraid to stand up for his beliefs. Mr. Taylor, a typical political boss of Smith s time,
had extreme power in his state and was able to tilt the public opinion of Senator
Smith. He did this through his control of the state media and connections within the
government. Taylor concocted evidence with the help of his government connections
alleging that Smith owned the property intended for the boy s camp and was only
promoting the camp bill so that he could sell his own property to the government at a
high price. Taylor then publicized these false accusations against Smith in the
newspapers that he controlled, thus persuading public opinion and ultimately causing
Smith to be accused of wrongdoing by a Senate committee. Throughout this entire
entourage, Smith was too inexperienced and naive to stand up against Taylor s
political machine and resorted instead to crying at the Lincoln Memorial. Smith only
returned to the Senate after Saunders convinced him that he should fight for his
rights. This situation ultimately proved once again that Senator Smith was too naive
to be an effective Senator. Smith did not realize that the other Senators were inclined
to believe the accusations against his character, and therefore,

Manual Sizing Of Analog Blocks
There is around 10 to 200 real valued parameters in an analog circuit, and value of
these parameters must be set in order to meet the specification .Circuit sizing is the
process of setting these parameters. for example a simple two stage operational
amplifier has around 12 parameters ,which includes width, length and passive
component values of all transistors which have to be set to achieve specifications
such as CMRR(common mode rejection ratio), gain, power ,area ,bandwidth ,noise
,settling time ,offset value and slew rate . Figure 1 two stage operational amplifier
There are 6 mosfets in this figure, so we have two compute values of width and
height of 6 mosfets along with other parameters such as slew rate, bandwidth and
noise margin.
A system on a chip (SOC) is an integrated circuit that integrates all components of a
electronic system into a single chip. SOC is made automated to a large extent.
Manual sizing of analog blocks is a bottleneck. There are several methods and
techniques of sizing; circuit sizing is an optimization problem. SPICE model is
being considered the most accurate model as the final check point is spice
correctness since the designer does not have access to the fabrication process so
designer relies on the simulator. Apart from spice there are circuit equations. These
equations can be derived taking some assumption with regard to the transistor
behavior. There are three
Characters And Juxtapositions In John Gardner s Grendel
The story of Beowulf is an ancient one, and one that has been passed down for
generations. The ideals and themes are traditional and its message is clear
throughout the entirety of the epic poem. Beowulf is told from the third person
omniscient point of view, his conflict was always what one would call the bad guy
or the villain, and though he died in the end, he won gold and victory for his
kingdom; all bad guys defeated. John Gardner, author of Grendel, decided to take the
classical story of good and evil, and tell a new story from the villain s perspective.

In contrast, chapter five explores the thoughts of the dragon. Where the shaper
praises man and draws people in, the dragon is isolated and believes man to be
absurd: They only think they think. No total vision . . . no more identity than
bridges (64). The dragon also briefly addresses the topic of the Shaper stating that
he is pure illusion. Where the Shaper sang of new worlds and realities built, the
dragon speaks of the destruction of the world and the end of all things (including
himself). Throughout the novel, Grendel finds himself in certain situations or
comes in contact with certain people which alter his thinking. Grendel clearly
displays that he is growing and maturing, and the absorption of the two juxtaposing
characters, as well as other minor things that juxtapose one another confuse
Grendel. He learns that some humans are good and some are bad as well as
creatures. Grendel views the Shaper as ultimately good and a beacon for hope for
Hrothgar with his people in contrast to the dragon who is viewed as a destroyer of
humanity. The presence of the shaper in the novel stops Grendel from giving into
nihilism completely and it is not until after the Shaper s funeral does the reader see
that Grendel commits fully to the dragon s philosophy. When the Shaper dies, he
leaves behind an apprentice. However, the apprentice was not the Shaper
Analyzing Nampeyo s Painting The Americas
The Americas
First piece is a shallow bowl, hand coiled and outdoor fired, about 6 inches width,
and 2 inches length, and height. The piece was made in america, in 1901 by
Nampeyo, in Arizona. The bowl looks almost wooden, the artist probably used
brown clay. The painting inside the bowl, looks like a abstract bird form, with a
stylized eagle tail. Nampeyo used black and red paint, and a lot of different shapes.
Starting from the bottom, it looks like two triangles that curve and join the black thin
lines in, the inside rim of the bowl. Above that are two lines probably indicating that
she moving on to a different part of the painting, there s a square but its curved in on
both sides in the middle there are two half moons, painted red, forming a circle,
leaving a uncolored oval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On each side of the circle about a centimeter away there is a spot shaded in with
black paint. In the next part of the painting, there is a line, again. There is a longer
rectangle, with two half moons on each side of the rectangle, next to is a little
space, then two vertical black lines, then there is three horizontal thick red
squiggly lines, again two vertical black line. In the middle of the rectangle, the top
middle part has 5 horizontal black lines, with a zigzag line on the top of the 5
lines, on the both of the middle part, it looks like a shape of a wave, that is painted
red, a bigger wave on top with no color. in the middle, it starts to make a tube like
shape, that splits into two tie looking shapes shaded black with a thin line that is
not shaded with any color and a mini square on the left shape and a bigger square
on the right shape about a centimeter away from the lines. On the side of the tube
shape there is a long leaf, looking shape, shaded black with a small space in the
middle of it unshaded. I chose this piece because i like the painting that was on the

Ronald Takaki Dollar A Day Dime A Dance Summary
Ronald Takaki s chapter in his sweeping 1989 text, Strangers from a Different
Shore, Dollar a Day, Dime a Dance: The Forgotten Filipinos , outlines the
experiences of primarily male Filipino immigrants to the U.S in the 1920 s and 1930
s. The author did a good job showing what the Filipino went through. Like many
immigrants before them, they came seeking work and a better livelihood. They faced
backbreaking work, low wages, and at time, extreme racism. However, in many ways
the Filipino immigrant experiences were extremely different from other ethnic
groups, the Chinese and Japanese immigrants.
To start with, the author highlights a primary difference as the fact that Filipinos
were not foreigners because they were from a territory acquired by America; hence,
they were American nationals (but not citizens)(Takai, 314). Immigrationis defined as
the process of relocating permanently to a foreign country. I believe the term
immigrant didn t apply to the Filipino at that time because they were part of ... Show

Philippine could freely enter the country. Recruited by the thousands as cheap labor

immigration to North America began with the California Gold Rush and the first
railroad project. Following the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, Japanese immigrants

For Better or Worse: Impact of Debt on Newly Married Couples
Introduction We all dream of, that special day, walking down the aisle and saying.
I do, to the love of our life. However, after the rice is thrown, and the guests are
gone home reality set in. According to the National Survey of Families and
Households, consumer debt affects recently married couples marital
satisfaction(Dew, 60). Furthermore, newlyweds rated debt as their second highest
marital concern. For the purpose of this paper, I am going to discuss how debt can
affect newly married couples in various ways.
Money Valuable Resource Money can create conflict in a familyunit or marriage,
regardless if there is enough or not. It does not matter how much money is available

The Lack Of Positive Peace
The lack of positive peace in the GFA is a major problem for the overall well being
of Northern Irish society in terms of an integrated vision off Ireland. In this context,
Gatlung s positive peace process must include aspects of religious, cultural,
economic, and civilian rights for Catholics in a primarily protestant culture. This
defines some of the superficialities of the GFA as a legislative and institutional
agreement, which do not reflect a more positive long term peace process that
integrates Protestant and Catholic Irish into a more homogenous form of Irish
identity. More so, the protestant identity is a barrier to the democratic process that
allowed all Irish person to chose their own nationality through the legislative process.
In this manner, the results of a positive peace process are very narrow within the
application of GFA principles of governing within a constitutional framework.
Political progress also tends to assume that the problems of Northern Ireland exist
purely on a political level and can be resolved via electoral arrangements. Yet much of
the research suggests social, cultural and economic differences that divide the
population may be beyond constitutional resolution (Duffy Dingley, 2007, p.50).
In Gatlung s perspective, the positive peace process should include many of the
social and economic variables of the GFA, but these are clearly not being
implemented into the civil society of Northern Ireland. This makes the changes

Strategic Change at Chrysler Essay
Strategic Change:
The case study of Daimler Chrysler
Introduction
Globalization results in rapid and constant business environmental changes. As a
result, most organizations tend to be more transformational organization so as to be
flexible to respond promptly to those changes. Strategic change is one of the effective
solutions to this situation. This paper will discuss the nature of strategic change in
the first part. The next section is an analysis of Daimler Chrysler case study; whether
the strategic change by merger bring them sustainable competitive advantage.

This situation might affect attitude of entire staff (Chaharbaghi and Willis, 1998). As
a result, critical learning is indispensable in this stage to create the atmosphere of
understanding the problem of organization and transfer knowledge in order to
enhance the ability of making decision in rapid change situation. Besides, this
learning process leads to the lower degree of change resistance but higher level of
participation which are vital component to achieve strategic change goal (Kenny,
2006). Afterward when employees understand more about the situation, it is time to
inform the direction and plan of strategic change. In this step, eventhough the
implementation becomes more constant, organization must maintain flexibility for
unexpected situation. Finally, when organization is covered with understanding and
predictable situation, the normal operation of implementation was brought in to
perform (Kenny, 2006). Consequently, it can be concluded from above
implementation step, which applies the radical approach when there is a lot of risk
and uncertainty and the incremental approach when there is lower scale of risk and
uncertainty, is the process of transformational strategic change based on learning for
transformational organization
The hardest step of change

The Belief Of Quakers And Catholics
There are many different views in the world on how and why we all came to be and
by who s power. This leads to the formation of many unique religions, who each have
developed separate distinguishable views about a personal God or lack thereof. While
there may be significant differences between each religion, they also have many
similarities. This is true for Quakers and Catholics. Although Quakerism and
Catholicism share similar beliefs in the historical Jesus , Quakers seem more
accommodating to today s religious people when considering current uprising issues,
including homosexuality, abortion, and authority of their faith than are Catholics.
Quakerism came into existence as an offshoot of Christianityin the 17th century. The
main belief of Quakers focuses on an equal access to God for all people otherwise
known as spirituality equality. People of this religion believe that no race, gender,
class, or other group has any sense of entitlement to divine revelation over another
(Sullivan Julia). In the church setting, Quakers are very welcoming. In fact, prior to
my attendance of a Quaker meeting, I visited their website and the very first page
had these big letters that read, You Are Welcomed Here . I saw this same welcoming
when I attended the meeting at First Friends Meeting in Richmond, IN. Those who
attended greeted me at the door and conversed with me after the meeting. Both
conversations, while brief, made me feel welcomed. Welcoming is a sign of the
Quaker belief

Chapter 19:Types of Risks Incurred by Financial Institutions
46. Why do banks continue to make credit card loans even though credit card default
rates are often at least twice as high as other loan types?
Answer: Credit card loss rates are higher than many other loan types, but FIs charge
high enough interest rates (and fees) to make them worthwhile. FIs also extend credit
card loans to large numbers of borrowers and the ensuing diversification reduces the
risk.

Chapter 17:Mutual Funds and Hedge Funds
46. Why are mutual funds popular with individual investors?
Answer: They provide opportunities for small investors to obtain: low cost
diversification; professional fund management according to specific objectives;
economies of scale in investing (lower commissions and research costs); higher rates
of return than available on bank deposits; and convenience services such as switching
funds, low cost reinvestment and sometimes even check writing capabilities.
Level: Medium
49. How are money market mutual funds similar to and different from bank deposits?
Answer: Both are safe and earn fairly low rates of return. Bank deposits are insured
by the FDIC however and money market mutual funds are not. That is the biggest
difference, but money market mutual funds almost never experience financial
difficulty. Because banks may have to meet reserve requirements to back their
deposits and pay deposit insurance premiums, bank deposits typically pay a lower
rate of return than money market funds. Money funds also typically require higher

The chart below proves that the demographics of passengers that bored a cruise ship
are the most susceptible to the implementation of smart technology thus helping to
alleviate the problems encountered while aboard. (Fig. 2)

Symptoms And Treatment Of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by chronic, erosive polyarthritis and the
presence of numerous autoantibodies in the serum and synovial fluid and membrane.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory autoimmune disease that
manifests in multiple joints of the body. The inflammation leads to erosions in the
cartilage and bone and can cause joint deformity. Individuals with RA often
experience pain and swelling of the joints. It was estimated in 2005 that 1.5 million
people in the United States were afflicted with RA. There are three times as many
women than men affected with RA (CDC, 2015). The etiology of RA is still
unknown but is thought to be derived from a faulty immune response. There is no
known cure for RA, but effective pharmaceuticals are available to patients treat RA
and prevent joint deformities (CDC, 2015). These drugs include biological drugs
(TNFО± inhibitors), which are highly effective in some patients, but is also very
expensive. RA patients are typically treated on a trial and error basis, with dose
escalation, introduction of additional therapies, and change of therapies if the patient
does not respond to treatment or experiences adverse side effects (Lindstrom, 2010).
Healthcare payers (government and insurance agencies) are interested in
opportunities that allow patients to do something more economically favorable for
cost containment. Payers are also interested in cost effectiveness of the treatment,

How Of Read And Read Music
How To Read Music Today, I ll be going on over how to read music. It s a
completely different concept from anything you ve ever learned. It does look like
a blur of lines at first, but soon you ll be able to get the hang of it and create music
yourself beautifully. First off, there s this thing called the staff. It s composed of
five parallel lines and four spaces in between. There s two of them for different
pitches. Each line and space stands for a note. Each line and space stands for a
note. In the higher pitches, the treble, from bottom up, the line notes are E, G, B,
D, and F, commonly memorized by the acronym Every Good Boy Does Fine . The
space notes from bottom up are F, A, C, and E, spelling the word face. In bass, the line
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Would it really be a surprise if I told you the treble clef is also called the G clef?
The treble clef is in a pretty high or moderate ish pitch. The bass clef is also called
an F clef. Now, it looks nothing like an F, but it curls on an F line. Since it s bass, it
s pitch is deeper and lower than treble. Music is divided into measures. These are
signified by bars going perpendicular to the staff lines. Exactly how long the
measures are, well that depends on the time signature. Time signatures are placed
at the beginning of the staff, but after either of the clefs. Time signatures are two
numbers stacked on top of each other. The top note tells how many beats are in a
measure, and the bottom note tells the note value for a single beat. Okay, note
time! The notes are the actual music; what you hear. Notes have heads, which are
circles. The heads are placed on the staff and exactly where they re placed is
indicates what pitch it plays. So, if a note head is placed on the treble staff, on the
first line, E, then that would be an E note. Everything about the actual note and not
where it s placed signifies the duration and length of the note. If the note is filled
in, it s held for one count. That s called a quarter note. If it s empty, it s held for
two counts and called a half note. If it doesn t have a stem, a line sticking out either
above or below it, and it s empty, then it s held for four counts. That s a whole note.

Donne Magritte Essay
Fournet 1 During the surrealist period, many of the art works produced were quite
visual pieces. Many of the artist painted what seemed to be senseless scenes so
precise that they look like a photograph. Belgian artist, Rene Magritte, created
paintings that transformed everyday objects, such as the apples in Le PrГЄtre Marie ,
into mysteriously strange characters. Magritte was reputable for his ability to use
everyday objects to create mind twisting images. Completed in 1968, Le PrГЄtre
Marie portrays the image of two vibrant green apples wearing masks, sitting on a
deserted beach. Magritte uses many techniques to draw viewers in to his paintings.
One of the most apparent techniques being used is the use of bright colors in the
painting;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These times were deeply depressing and dark for many people. Magritte saw this
gloomy world as an opportunity to bring meaning back to life with colorful art.
With war taking over the minds of many, Magritte attempted to shift people s dark
thoughts to a prismatic piece of artwork. This was the idea many artist in this time
period had. The idea was for the viewer to get so deep into thought about what the
painting could potentially means, and get consumed in the vivid colors to where
they would forget about the reality of the wars that they must face. The comparison
of the dreary times this painting was completed in, to the lively colors found in Le
PrГЄtre Marie clearly display Magritte s tactful intentions. In Rene Magritte s Le
PrГЄtre Marie , he gives two ordinary apples an equivocal quality and makes them
characters of the painting by putting masks on them. He also gives the apples a
lively green color to make them catch the eye of viewers. This will draw people in
to look at the painting and then they will be diverted into the world the apple is in.
This was the goal of Magritte so that his paintings could help people forget the
hurting world they are living in.
Classical Liberalism Is A Political Philosophy Originated
Classical Liberalism is a political philosophy originated in the 18th century based on
the idea of individual liberty created to preserve an open and accepting, and open
minded society. Classical liberalism is very solemn when advocating for the value of
freedom in which emphasizes the importance of religion, speech, press, assembly, and
markets which includes free trade market capitalism, and economic liberalism. Up
until around the 1900s, this ideology was commonly known as Liberalism, however,
it s now important to classify it as Classical Liberalismmostly in English speaking

John Locke, an English philosopher, shared some of the same ideas that Hobbes
possessed. Locke believed in the power of a government to preserve freedom, but he
also believed in overthrowing any government that violated a citizen s rights, and as
a solution, getting a new government competent for the duty of serving the people.
Locke also believed in freedom by nature. Everyone has a natural right to life, liberty,
and property. Locke believed in men preserving their own civil interest, by those he
means life, liberty, health, and the possession of land, money, houses, and such
things. He believed that all men are free by nature, and that no private person has
any right in any manner to prejudice another person in his civil enjoyments. Locke
also believes that God gave men the world to make use of it, therefore he values so
much the right to property.
Another philosopher from the 17th century, and who made an impact on how
political economy works is Adam Smith, one of the major philosophers of the
Scottish Enlightenment. Smith is considered as one of the source of classical liberal
commitments, reducing state regulations on economic life and trade. He was very
powerful with his argument, he believed
Howl By Ginsberg Essay
Constraints of Confinement
Trumpets blaring, bass booming, heads swaying to the beat in a tiny jazz club.
Creativity is flowing and the Beat Poets of the 1950s are unknowingly establishing a
counterculture movement, one that challenges the social norms and politics of their
time and even transcends generations to remain relevant today. Poets like Jack
Kerouac, William Seward Burroughs, Neal Cassady, and Allen Ginsbergwere heavily
influenced by jazz, adopting their seedy dress, manners, and hip vocabulary ( Beat
Movement ) that changed their lifestyle and helped write their poetry. Specifically,
Allen Ginsberg s poem Howl, is often regarded as the anthem of 1950s Beats ( Howl
| Poem by Ginsberg ), a poem unstructured and free flowing to reflect Ginsberg s
experiences. In Howl, Allen Ginsberg uses unique language and changes his tone
throughout the poem in an attempt to break the constraints of confinement and seek
his own forms of freedom.
From the outset of Howl, Part I takes on a tone of delirium as the Beat Poets,
sometimes referred to as the best minds or simply they , ... Show more content on

Ginsberg shows that the American river represents capitalism and how it washes
away the creativity by exclaiming, Visions! omens! hallucinations! miracles!
ecstasies! gone down the American River! (line 90). Essentially, all good things like
the visions and ecstasy has been washed away and people have become constrained
by the capitalist institution that is America. The tone of anger prevails in particularly
in line 91, describing dreams, adorations, and illuminations as the whole boatload of
sensitive bullshit that no one seems to care about. This metaphor is extremely
important to the overall theme of breaking the constraints of confinement because the
capitalistic society of America is in itself confining the creative thinkers that make up

Rob Parson and Morgan Stanley
1.Introduction
Rob Parson had recently been hired by Paul Nasr, a senior managing director at
Morgan Stanley as a principal in the Capital Markets Services division. The division
had done very little business even with its most important investment banking clients.
In particular the bank wanted to improve business with clients in the financial
services industry. Parson was hired for his proven track record in this domain, for his
relationships with clients and for his energetic and entrepreneurial approach. Soon
after he was hired Parson started delivering results and played instrumental role in
improving Morgan Stanley s ranking and market share. He got first time business
with several clients and increased business volumes from ... Show more content on

4.Resilience and Assertiveness The tough clientele in financial services domain
demanded one to be outgoing, aggressive to an extent and not someone who got
bogged down easily. Parson personified all these qualities.
5.Responsive Parson understood well the importance of being swift in your decision
making when serving tough customers like the banks. Although this made him
overlook the company norms on decision making, Parson s alacrity did help earn
business for the firm.
6.Result oriented The faith expressed by Nasr in Parson was justified by the results
that Parson delivered. His proven track record in banking and financial services was
further substantiated by his single handed steering of the growth of MS from being
rank tenth to rank second in the business.
As a person Rob Parson demonstrated the following interpersonal skills:
1.Client camaraderie Amongst his clients Parson was known as someone fun to be
around. Not only was he popular with them for his innovative methods and services,
but as a companion too they found him amusing and interesting, and seek his
company whenever they were in town.
2.Transparent It is reported that within the firm Parson was always ready to share
information with his colleagues and kept them updated on the new ideas he was
coming up with.
3.Non Participative Parson s confidence and knowledge
Persuasive Speech On Caseworkers
Today I decided to get an extra eight hours that I missed over break. I usually do not
come in on Mondays due to my class schedule won t allow me. I looked at YES
reports all day. I filed for one of the caseworkers because she was behind in
paperwork. I had to hole punch paperwork and file them in clients file. She had a
lot of paperwork that needed to be filed so I had a project to do for the entire day.
The office was very quiet as usually, especially since people were getting caught up
on end of the month paperwork. As I filed the paperwork I noticed a form that had
many numbers on it. The caseworkers have to document how much time they spent
with their client in one month. This is important because caseworkers need to make
they sure they have accurate time spent with their clients to go over legal
documents, court dates, progress with treatments, and more. Also, I did not know
that the caseworkers get paid for how many miles they drive for each client. I know
that the caseworkers for the outer clients get paid more because homes and schools
are far distances in the outer counties. In order to get paid for mileage the caseworker
must either begin her visits at the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the employees located in Southern, IL have not been to the corporate
office in Chicago. Today the caseworkers and I talked about how the office looks
in Chicago. I told them that the office was nice it s in a 26th floor building.
Children s Home Aid is located on the 19th floor in the building. The coordinator
told me she would not be in the Belleville office at the end of the week because she
has a meeting at the Chicago office and she was extremely excited. I could tell in
her eyes that she was excited and she has not been to Chicago. She asked me how
busy the streets were, how was the food, and many more questions. We talked about
Chicago for thirty minutes and I knew she was excited to explore Chicago after the
Latin American Independence Essay
Latin American Independence
Latin American Independence was the drive for independence from Spain and France
by the Latin American people. There were many contributing factors that ultimately
led to the uprising of Latin American colonies. Europe s strong hold on the economic
and political life of Latin America, was creating friction between the Latin Colonies
and the European nations. Eventually, this would become enough for the Latin
American people and the drive for independence from France and Spain would begin.
There were a few main points that led up to the Latin American independence
movement. In, 1797 the Britain blockade of Spain took place for two years, which

Hidalgo s enraged revolutionaries tore through Mexico. After moderate success
Hidalgo was defeated by a band of Royalists and while fleeing the country for the

named Jose Morelos from then on would lead the fighting. He would finally

Spain in 1821.
With other Latin American uprisings occurring Simon Bolivar led the South
American independence. Bolivar was a wealthy Creole born in Venezuela but
educated in Spain. Influenced by Enlightenment ideas, Bolivar called for
independence for all South Americans. He gained firm control of his native
Venezuela in 1819. His armies then turned toward Columbia and Ecuador. In the
south Jose de San Martin rallied Argentinean forces against Spain. Bolivar and San
Martin met in Peru, which became independent along with Upper Peru (Bolivia) in
1824. Although Bolivar was unsuccessful in uniting South Americans into a single
nation, he is known as the continent s quot;liberator. quot;
Eventually all Colonies driving to become independent would be. The Latin

Affordable Care Act Essay.pdf

  • 1. Affordable Care Act Essay Writing an essay on the Affordable Care Act can be a challenging task, as it requires a comprehensive understanding of the complex healthcare legislation and its implications. The topic encompasses various aspects such as the historical context of the Act, its key provisions, its impact on healthcare accessibility and affordability, political debates surrounding it, and potential future developments. One of the difficulties lies in navigating through the intricate details of the Affordable Care Act. The legislation itself is multi-faceted, involving numerous provisions aimed at transforming the healthcare landscape in the United States. Analyzing and interpreting these provisions, along with their real-world implications, demands careful research and attention to detail. Furthermore, crafting a well-rounded essay requires delving into the political landscape surrounding the Affordable Care Act. This involves understanding the ideological debates, policy disagreements, and the historical context that led to the Act's inception. Discussing the various perspectives on the legislation, including both its proponents and critics, adds depth to the essay but also requires a balanced and nuanced approach. Research is another aspect that adds to the complexity of the task. Staying updated with the latest developments, statistics, and scholarly analyses is crucial for presenting a well-informed and relevant discussion. It may involve sifting through a vast amount of information, discerning credible sources, and synthesizing data to support the arguments presented in the essay. • 2. The Quiet American Movie Vs Book Philip Noyce s version of Graham Greene s novel The Quiet American to film was a large success. It stayed pretty close to the book, and kept the personalities of the character s the same. What I respected about the movie was that the director chose to film in actual Vietnamese locations and without compromise, boldly sticking to the novel by not letting the Americans come out of the story too kindly. It was filmed greatly and he captured so many details of Vietnam. Brenden Fraiser and Michael Caine did an amazing job portraying their characters. The first difference that you can see is that the book was in first person and the movie was in third. This being said, there were scenes added into the movie that was not in the book. I personally had a hard time reading the book because of the negativity from Fowler. Pyle in the book was the opposite. I was more interested in Pyle because of his softer nature. What I like about Pyle is how he would stick up and defend Phuong when Fowler made rude comments. Fowler said that Phuong was merely a beautiful tool for his sexual pleasures. Pyle responded That s a dirty crack. I won t have her insulted. You have no right... (TQA, Graham Greene, 1955, pg 78) This shows Pyle s passion and soft nature. Michael Caine is excellent as Fowler in the movie. He plays an aging unmotivated but skilled reporter very good. On the other hand Fowler in the film is a lot more vulnerable, especially as the film goes on, and his weaknesses begins to show. The movie never shows Fowler telling Pyle how he feels about Phuong. He says that he is detached but then becomes very involved in what is going on around him. With that action I feel it shows that he does care about Phuong but doesn t know how to handle it. Thomas Fowler is a complex character, and it is hard to compare him to his character in the book. The movie doesn t show his personality and depth of character as the book does. The movie portrays him more likeable with more dignity and less bitter. Fowler s character does still give us that deep sense of how the political he is. Although I was disappointed because I feel they took a huge part of the book and tossed it out by changing

Lena was just expected, as women in that timeperiod were, to just submit to the whims of the dominent member of her family. Lena was so dutiful throughout the story, dutiful to the point where modern day readers may actually get frustrated or angry with this character. Lena lived her life passively and took what came her way without complaint; the cook who scolded Lena a great deal but Lena s german patience held no suffering and the good incessant woman really only scolded for Lena s good (Stein 143). I look up to another familiar scene playing out beyond the Plexiglas windows of the bus: a group of homeless men passing their days exposed to the elements. Some are splayed out across the lawns of an adjacent office building, others are digging in the cracks of the pavement for cigarette butts. • 8. Robert Agnew General Strain Theory Throughout history a lot of experts have tried to understand why some people feel the need to commit crimes, even though there have been harsh laws enforced for those who commit crimes. These people have come up with theories as to why people commit crimes to understand these theories, we must understand what a crimeis and understand the definition of theories. Crime is a human conduct that violates the laws of a state or the federal government. There are different ways people view criminal behaviors either through the view of the social problem perspective which blames the society and the social responsibility which blames the person who committed the crime. Through these two perspectives we get the idea of theories. A theoryis a comprehensive explanation about certain experiences which are based on facts that have been gathered overtime. These theories explain the mental reason people are more pushed to commit crimes. Theories like Robert Agnews General Strain Theory has given us an explanation as to phenomena criminal behavior. In 1992 strain theory was reformulated by Robert Agnew and called the general strain theory. Agnew felt as though that strain theory was not fully explaining the main reason people are pushed to commit crimes, so he came up with a theory he felt was a better explanation and a reason as to why crimes were committed. The concept of general strain theory comes from the idea that people commit crimes to use it as a means of copping with the

Often, stigmas are associated with an attribute that is deeply discrediting towards a group of people, but stigmas are not exclusively attributed to social groups (Goffman 13). Certain words hold stigmas that warp our understanding of that word. The negative stigma associated with the word gentrification has created many misunderstandings of what gentrificationг…Ўand its natureг…Ўis. Gentrification is the process of restoring and reconstructing deteriorating communities and can be paired with the movement of wealthy individuals from the surrounding community to the gentrified one. People attributed a stigma with gentrification because many people see gentrification as a one sided topic. Availability biases portray gentrification as something communities should avoid. However, gentrification is a multifaceted and a controversial topic with positive, negative, neutral, and even unknown consequences. When looking beyond the stigmas associated with gentrification, there are some positive consequences that society often overlooks. Negative consequences often overshadow the positive consequences, which perpetuate the notion that gentrification is bad and is a one sided issue. In reality, gentrification is misunderstood; gentrification is neither good nor bad because there are too many contrasting factors and consequences that can arise from gentrification. Instead of labelling gentrification as
  • 10. The Industrial Revolution And The French Revolution The Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution are both integral parts of European history. Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded different parts of Europe and had different social ramifications. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the beginning of new innovations along with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began during the year 1789, with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy. The French Revolution ended ten years later during the year 1799 with the French overthrowing the monarchy and starting their own form of government. While both revolutions have had a huge impact on modern day Europe, the innovations along with the social changes that occurred during the Industrial Revolutionmake it more significant than the French Revolution. Before the Industrial Revolution, Britain was comprised of rural areas where most of the population resided. A lot of their time revolved around agriculture as a means of survival and as a way to make an income. They also built and produced most of their clothing, furniture and homes with machines that were simple and small tools. As time went by, people came up with different ideas and changed the methods in which they were able to produce agriculture. This led to an increase in food production which was steadily available to the population that was rising and working factories. These events would become apart of what would start the Industrial

There is no other definite method of transmission, and people do not have to worry about contracting the virus through contact with infected humans or animals. When I was 9, I remember watching the 1967 version King Kong, my mom bought me a small King Kong toy to play with after. I remember at the age of 9 destroying Lego buildings as I loved every minute of it. Little did I know how racist this film was due to my young age and incompetence. I only cared about the giant monkey that destroyed anything in its way; now I see the ugliness that I did not recognize growing up. I want to thank you Dr. James for assigning this project as you gave me the opportunity to watch these King Kongfilms as I so idolized growing up. The whole purpose of a movie, (or any type of entertainment) is to distract you from your real life. On a deep psychological level, we use movies to temporarily escape for a little bit, which was gigantic for people suffering in the Great Depression. Now, when you think of the typical Hollywood bestseller movie, you picture the girl always in some type of trouble and she needs assistance from the hero . We see this in Shrek, Twilight, The Dark Knight series, Star Wars, Spiderman etc. This is a type of movie strategy directors use called Damsel in Distress . In the 1933 King Kong, this was by far the most successful Damsel in Distress for its time, as audiences in the 1930s were not expecting the stop animation displayed. You can argue, due to the success of King Kong in 1933 that movie directors

Later on his birthday, Brian learns the truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad and Ginger came out, she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept staring at the comic book, even though he d already read it all the way through twice. Mr. Taylor, a typical political boss of Smith s time, had extreme power in his state and was able to tilt the public opinion of Senator Smith. He did this through his control of the state media and connections within the government. Taylor concocted evidence with the help of his government connections alleging that Smith owned the property intended for the boy s camp and was only promoting the camp bill so that he could sell his own property to the government at a high price. Taylor then publicized these false accusations against Smith in the newspapers that he controlled, thus persuading public opinion and ultimately causing Smith to be accused of wrongdoing by a Senate committee. Throughout the novel, Grendel finds himself in certain situations or comes in contact with certain people which alter his thinking. Grendel clearly displays that he is growing and maturing, and the absorption of the two juxtaposing characters, as well as other minor things that juxtapose one another confuse Grendel. He learns that some humans are good and some are bad as well as creatures. Grendel views the Shaper as ultimately good and a beacon for hope for Hrothgar with his people in contrast to the dragon who is viewed as a destroyer of humanity. The presence of the shaper in the novel stops Grendel from giving into nihilism completely and it is not until after the Shaper s funeral does the reader see that Grendel commits fully to the dragon s philosophy. When the Shaper dies, he leaves behind an apprentice. However, the apprentice was not the Shaper

Ronald Takaki Dollar A Day Dime A Dance Summary Ronald Takaki s chapter in his sweeping 1989 text, Strangers from a Different Shore, Dollar a Day, Dime a Dance: The Forgotten Filipinos , outlines the experiences of primarily male Filipino immigrants to the U.S in the 1920 s and 1930 s. The author did a good job showing what the Filipino went through. Like many immigrants before them, they came seeking work and a better livelihood. They faced backbreaking work, low wages, and at time, extreme racism. However, in many ways the Filipino immigrant experiences were extremely different from other ethnic groups, the Chinese and Japanese immigrants. To start with, the author highlights a primary difference as the fact that Filipinos were not foreigners because they were from a territory acquired by America; hence, they were American nationals (but not citizens)(Takai, 314). • 28. The Lack Of Positive Peace The lack of positive peace in the GFA is a major problem for the overall well being of Northern Irish society in terms of an integrated vision off Ireland. In this context, Gatlung s positive peace process must include aspects of religious, cultural, economic, and civilian rights for Catholics in a primarily protestant culture. This defines some of the superficialities of the GFA as a legislative and institutional agreement, which do not reflect a more positive long term peace process that integrates Protestant and Catholic Irish into a more homogenous form of Irish identity. More so, the protestant identity is a barrier to the democratic process that allowed all Irish person to chose their own nationality through the legislative process. In this manner, the results of a positive peace process are very narrow within the application of GFA principles of governing within a constitutional framework. Political progress also tends to assume that the problems of Northern Ireland exist purely on a political level and can be resolved via electoral arrangements. Yet much of the research suggests social, cultural and economic differences that divide the population may be beyond constitutional resolution (Duffy Dingley, 2007, p.50). In Gatlung s perspective, the positive peace process should include many of the social and economic variables of the GFA, but these are clearly not being implemented into the civil society of Northern Ireland. This makes the changes toward Protestant

  • 31. The Belief Of Quakers And Catholics There are many different views in the world on how and why we all came to be and by who s power. This leads to the formation of many unique religions, who each have developed separate distinguishable views about a personal God or lack thereof. While there may be significant differences between each religion, they also have many similarities. This is true for Quakers and Catholics. Although Quakerism and Catholicism share similar beliefs in the historical Jesus , Quakers seem more accommodating to today s religious people when considering current uprising issues, including homosexuality, abortion, and authority of their faith than are Catholics. Quakerism came into existence as an offshoot of Christianityin the 17th century. The main belief of Quakers focuses on an equal access to God for all people otherwise known as spirituality equality. People of this religion believe that no race, gender, class, or other group has any sense of entitlement to divine revelation over another (Sullivan Julia). In fact, prior to my attendance of a Quaker meeting, I visited their website and the very first page had these big letters that read, You Are Welcomed Here . Bank deposits are insured by the FDIC however and money market mutual funds are not. That is the biggest difference, but money market mutual funds almost never experience financial difficulty. Because banks may have to meet reserve requirements to back their deposits and pay deposit insurance premiums, bank deposits typically pay a lower rate of return than money market funds. Symptoms And Treatment Of Rheumatoid Arthritis Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by chronic, erosive polyarthritis and the presence of numerous autoantibodies in the serum and synovial fluid and membrane. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory autoimmune disease that manifests in multiple joints of the body. The inflammation leads to erosions in the cartilage and bone and can cause joint deformity. Individuals with RA often experience pain and swelling of the joints. It was estimated in 2005 that 1.5 million people in the United States were afflicted with RA. There are three times as many women than men affected with RA (CDC, 2015). The etiology of RA is still unknown but is thought to be derived from a faulty immune response. These drugs include biological drugs (TNFО± inhibitors), which are highly effective in some patients, but is also very expensive. RA patients are typically treated on a trial and error basis, with dose escalation, introduction of additional therapies, and change of therapies if the patient does not respond to treatment or experiences adverse side effects (Lindstrom, 2010). It does look like a blur of lines at first, but soon you ll be able to get the hang of it and create music yourself beautifully. First off, there s this thing called the staff. It s composed of five parallel lines and four spaces in between. There s two of them for different pitches. Each line and space stands for a note. Each line and space stands for a note. In the higher pitches, the treble, from bottom up, the line notes are E, G, B, D, and F, commonly memorized by the acronym Every Good Boy Does Fine . The space notes from bottom up are F, A, C, and E, spelling the word face. In bass, the line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Would it really be a surprise if I told you the treble clef is also called the G clef? The treble clef is in a pretty high or moderate ish pitch. The bass clef is also called an F clef. Now, it looks nothing like an F, but it curls on an F line. Since it s bass, it s pitch is deeper and lower than treble. Music is divided into measures. These are signified by bars going perpendicular to the staff lines. Exactly how long the measures are, well that depends on the time signature. Time signatures are placed at the beginning of the staff, but after either of the clefs. Time signatures are two numbers stacked on top of each other. The top note tells how many beats are in a measure, and the bottom note tells the note value for a single beat. Okay, note time! The notes are the actual music; what you hear. Notes have heads, which are circles. The heads are placed on the staff and exactly where they re placed is indicates what pitch it plays. So, if a note head is placed on the treble staff, on the first line, E, then that would be an E note. Everything about the actual note and not where it s placed signifies the duration and length of the note. If the note is filled in, it s held for one count. That s called a quarter note. If it s empty, it s held for two counts and called a half note. If it doesn t have a stem, a line sticking out either above or below it, and it s empty, then it s held for four counts. That s a whole note. If it

Many of the artist painted what seemed to be senseless scenes so precise that they look like a photograph. Belgian artist, Rene Magritte, created paintings that transformed everyday objects, such as the apples in Le PrГЄtre Marie , into mysteriously strange characters. Magritte was reputable for his ability to use everyday objects to create mind twisting images. Completed in 1968, Le PrГЄtre Marie portrays the image of two vibrant green apples wearing masks, sitting on a deserted beach. Magritte uses many techniques to draw viewers in to his paintings. Magritte saw this gloomy world as an opportunity to bring meaning back to life with colorful art. With war taking over the minds of many, Magritte attempted to shift people s dark thoughts to a prismatic piece of artwork. This was the idea many artist in this time period had. The idea was for the viewer to get so deep into thought about what the painting could potentially means, and get consumed in the vivid colors to where they would forget about the reality of the wars that they must face. The comparison of the dreary times this painting was completed in, to the lively colors found in Le PrГЄtre Marie clearly display Magritte s tactful intentions. In Rene Magritte s Le PrГЄtre Marie , he gives two ordinary apples an equivocal quality and makes them characters of the painting by putting masks on them. He also gives the apples a lively green color to make them catch the eye of viewers. This will draw people in to look at the painting and then they will be diverted into the world the apple is in. This was the goal of Magritte so that his paintings could help people forget the hurting world they are living in.
