A field trip to Rangitoto Island was conducted to investigate a relationship between
species diversity and area of vegetation patch. The study site was chosen to study the
Primary Succession of plant species as it has volcanic condition. Successional
sequence for plant species on Rangitoto Island was constructed, and the results show
a positive directly proportional/linear relationship between the two variables.

Rangitoto Island is Auckland s largest, most recent, and most distinctive, 2311
hectares Volcanic Island, located in the Hauraki Gulf of Auckland. Rangitoto Island
is approximately 5.5 km wide with its unique shield volcano cone rising 259 m above
sea level, a widely noticeable landmark of Auckland. The Island was formed

The Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) Corps needs help in the promotion
process or the future of the NCO Corps will be in danger of having well educated
NCO s without job related experience. It has automatic promotions for lower
enlisted soldiers, letting them get promoted without knowing military or job related
items. NCOs can get promoted in the current process without even doing their job
as long as they know how to get by a promotion board. NCO s only had to
memorize some regulations, field manuals, and a few Creeds to pass a promotion
board. The promotion boards do not even ask job related questions to see if the NCO
knows anything about his current position. The current promotion process uses a
points system and holds soldiers back from getting promoted. The point system is
broken down but puts too much emphasis on certain areas which have nothing to do
with their current position. This current promotion system has to change just like the
way the militaryis asking NCO s to change and become more civilian educated.
The new promotion process I am recommending is written testing/hands on testing
job permitting. The tests are Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Knowledge Test
(MKT) and Military Promotion Examination (MPE). The results of these tests would
give the soldier a skill identifier of 1 12 and would be annotated on their Enlisted

Global sea level rise is potentially one of the biggest problems that the human race
will face in the foreseeable future. Significant rise in sea level could be disastrous for
low lying coastal areas in New Zealand and all across the globe as people s homes
and livelihoods would be destroyed. There are two main factors that cause global sea
level rise, they are: Thermal expansion of the ocean and melting of ice on land such
as glaciers and ice sheets in polar regions. Both of these major causes are driven by
climate change (warming in particular)2.
So far, the large majority of sea level rise has been caused by thermal expansion of
the ocean. The Earth is warming up due to the warming effect of greenhouse
gasses in the atmosphere and more than 90% of the increased atmospheric heat is
being absorbed by the ocean surface1. The ocean is getting warmer and as it
warms, its density decreases but its mass stays relatively constant, therefore the
volume increases and the sea level rises. The ocean s density decreases when it

8 November 2016 Overtones Overtones are a frequency higher than the fundamental
frequency of a sound and harmonizes with the fundamental note as well. To my
surprise, many people do not hear the overtones that I intentionally create which led
me the looking at the roots and basics of overtones and overtones singing. Every
sound in the world has an overtone. Some we can hear, some we can t. When
singing, I never heard overtones until someone else performed it for me for the first
time. After some instructions, I started to notice overtones which was never there
before. Sometimes I even doubt myself that they exist. Overtones is a high whistling
sound that once you hear once, you will not forget it again. One commonly known
type of overtone sing is Polyphonic overtone singing, a technique which produces
two notes in perfect harmony. The lower of the two is generated by the vibrations of
vocal folds in the larynx which is the same process for everyday speech. This sound
wave is a fundamental frequency, as it has the longest wavelength that will fit inside
the resonant cavity formed by the speaker s mouth and throat. Produced alongside
this low note are numerous overtones or harmonics, waves with higher frequencies
that can also fit into the body s cavity a whole number of times. By moving the
tongue, lips and soft palate, the shape of the cavity can then be adjusted so as to

Paul s life as well. His burying of the carnation symbolizes the burial of himself, the

Mrs Bone prefers to keep it quite about what goes on like a lot of other women. It is
all about men feeling that they have power over women. Not only do men expect
everything to be done for them but they also expect that everything is for them. A
prime example of this is when
Lily brings the kids some food and John expects it to be for him.
