Argumentative Essays On Education
Writing an argumentative essay on the broad and complex topic of education can be quite
challenging. The difficulty lies in the vastness and diversity of the subject, as education
encompasses various aspects such as philosophy, policy, pedagogy, socio-economic factors, and
more. Crafting a compelling argument requires a deep understanding of these components and
the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources.
To begin with, one needs to conduct extensive research to gather relevant and up-to-date
information on the current state of education, recent trends, and ongoing debates. This may
involve delving into academic journals, government reports, educational theories, and statistical
data. Navigating through this sea of information requires analytical skills to identify credible
sources and extract pertinent details.
Furthermore, constructing a coherent argument involves critical thinking and the ability to
evaluate different perspectives. Education is a multifaceted field with diverse opinions on what
constitutes effective learning, the role of standardized testing, the importance of technology, and
more. Balancing these viewpoints while forming a well-supported argument can be demanding.
The organization of the essay is another aspect that poses a challenge. The writer must create a
logical flow of ideas, ensuring that each paragraph builds upon the previous one. This requires a
clear understanding of the essay's structure, including the introduction, body, and conclusion.
Transitions between paragraphs and ideas are crucial to maintaining the coherence and
persuasiveness of the argument.
Additionally, the writer must be mindful of the audience and tailor the language and tone
accordingly. The goal is not just to present information but to persuade and engage the reader.
Achieving the right balance between formality and accessibility can be intricate.
In conclusion, writing an argumentative essay on education demands a combination of research,
critical thinking, organization, and persuasive writing skills. The intricacies of the topic make it a
challenging yet rewarding task for those willing to delve into the complexities of educational
discourse.

Unity In Divergent
Tris was forced to live in a dystopian society without knowing it. She grew up in
Abnegation, (one of the five factions). Tris thought that all there was in life was
being selfless, but there is more. Tris was tested to see what faction suits her. She
had no idea what she would be. Little did she know that she was Divergent. Tris
was a mix of three contrasting factions. Being Divergent is more divers than
everyone else it can be dangerous but can it also be helpful? When some people read
Divergent they think that it is about bravery or being selfless. I think it s about
something different. In Divergent Veronica Roth displays that the book is not just
about bravery. It s about being different and how being different can help you fit in.
Early in the story Tris was supposed to be selfless because her current faction was
based on selflessness. She never really felt that she was selfless. For example Tris
was miserable unlike the average Abnegation on page 2 Tris explains that, other
factions celebrate birthdays, we don t that would be self indulgent . Tris ... Show more

that people have contrasting traits. They break into contracting groups , then there
are some that wander and do different things than just one specific subject. People
who do this are distinct they do multiple things and that is what makes them happy.
Tris dose multiple thing she is interested in being more than just being brave. She

Building Integrated Photovoltaic ( Bipv ) Systems
Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems are one of the most promising solar
based technologies with the potential to minimise the high energy demands of office
buildings in the Adelaide CBD. Recently, the Australian government has put in
significant effort to increase the sustainability of existing buildings. The Commercial
Building Disclosure (CBD) program, released as part of the Building Energy
Efficiency Disclosure Act 2010, requires the owners of Australia s largest office
buildings to reveal information regarding their energy consumption and efficiency to
the public (Department of Industry and Science 2015). By replacing conventional
building materials on the exterior of a building with solar photovoltaic (PV) modules,
BIPV allows on site electricity generation to reduce the building s total energy
consumption and emissions. A multifunctional technology, the modules can also
serve dual functions as roofs, windows, walls, thermal insulation and daylight
modulators, increasing energy efficiency and reducing operational costs. It is
therefore recommended that the South Australian government develop policies and
strategies to encourage the incorporation of BIVP into all future buildings and
restoration projects. The development of BIVP standards and procedures will also be
necessary to overcome the technical and financial constraints of BIVP and promote
more industry professionals to partake in this new and innovative technology. In
Australia, commercial buildings
The War Of The American War II
World War II is one of the most prolific events in American history. While soldiers
were away on foreign soil, thousands of Americans at home were doing their part as
well. For example many citizens worked in factories across the nation producing the
supplies the military needed to accomplish their goal. When people think of the
places that most frequently furnished these products the common perception is that
most products were manufactured in the northern industrial states, although this is
not always the case. Throughout the war Louisiana played a critical role in
adequately preparing for the war. Andrew Higginshas become famous for his role in
inventing the Higgins s Craft, which played a critical role in the beach landings in...

Louisiana played an important role in nearly every aspect of America s success in
World War II, and likewise, it deserves to be highlighted. The American army lacked
adequate preparation to go to war in 1941, but that soon changed. Nearly half a
million soldiers participated in a series of military maneuvers, or games, across
mostly north Louisiana. Fourteen of the 27 divisions of the army took place in these
events. The Louisiana maneuvers have become one of the largest peacetime military
maneuvers in American history. This practice proved to be important for the army.
Brigadier Raymond H Fleming explained that everything the United States Army
had, except for bullets, would be turned loose in Louisiana. This allowed for the
soldiers, most of them being newly enlisted, to gather wartime experience. Likewise,
not all commands were fully equipped with the latest technology, but through these
games the ill equipped commands were able to see the effectiveness of the new
technology. The soldiers that endured these games went through full paced war like
maneuvers. The Army was divided into two and simulated a mock war between each
other. The two armies went back and forth between over the course of ten days. They
struggled through long hours and simulated combat. Along with the struggle of

Theories Of The Deterrence Theory
The deterrence theory, also referred to as the deterrence doctrine, deals with formal
social control, in the form of judges, law enforcement officers, and the law itself.
According to the deterrence doctrine, there are three ways punishment is carried out.
The first way, is by the severity of the punishment. The deterrence theory explains
that a person is less likely to commit a crimeif the punishment for that crime is more
severe. Punishment for deviant activities and crimes can range from less severe to
more severe. The second way is that punishment for a crime can either more or less
assured. According to the deterrence doctrine, people will be less likely to commit a
crime if they know they will be punished for their deviant or illegal actions. The third
way is that punishment for committing a crime can be expeditious or passive,
depending on the circumstance of the situation. According to Thio, Taylor, and
Schwartz (2013) In general deterrence the punishment of a criminal deters the general
public from committing crimes; in specific deterrence the punishment of a criminal
deters the criminal alone from committing more crimes. (page 29)
The purpose of testing the deterrence doctrine is to conclude if individual
characteristics are directly tied with the weight individuals place on new
information pertaining to their risk perception. According to Thomas, Loughran,
and Piquero (2013), This research has examined how the cognitive decisions of
adolescent offenders are influenced by judgement processes, including risk
perceptions. In this study, there are three hypotheses. Hypothesis number one holds
that how an individual responds to new experiences and information will differ
from person to person and as a result, risk perceptions will vary from person to
person. (Thomas, Loughran, and Piquero. 2013. Page 13) Hypothesis number
two(a) holds that both psychological factors and cognitive factors play a role in
determining an individual s risk perceptions, and that people with anxiety, behavioral
problems, and low verbal IQ will possess low risk perceptions. (Thomas, Loughran,
and Piquero. 2013. Page 13) Hypothesis number 2(b) holds essentially the opposite of
hypothesis 2(a)., in that individuals with
Comparing Brian Piccolo And Gale Sayers In Brian s Song

their personality. They start to hate each other but then they start to support each
other and have a never ending relationship that can only be broken by death. Overall
not only they affect one another with their relationship, they inspire others.
Brian Piccolo is the man with something always to talk about. He has social skills

They make sure you already know what the climax is, the same goes with the
beginning and end. The rising actions begin telling us all about the two main
characters and their personalities. They end up meeting each other just right before
Gale was going to visit the tooth fairy because of a ball coming right towards his
head. Brian introduces himself to Gale and then Brian recalls him meeting Gale a
season ago. Gale is confused and he continues on walking to his station. He finds
out that Brian will be his sleeping buddy causing lost of controversy over the
country. Kind of similar to the Little Rock incident. They get along with each other
even though there is some small bits of fighting in between it. Gale ends up getting
in trouble for talking while one of the coaches was speaking to the rest of the team.
Then they go have a couple football games against other teams, meet each others
family, etc.
The climax begins with Brian doing worse and worse with exercises during
practice. Also Gale breaks his knee. He later gets it fix by Brian(still getting more
ill) by using a fancy machine. Gale thanks Brian and then they train each other to
become better at the game. Brian ends up telling Gale that he feels like he is
pregnant which causes Brian s Friends, Team, and Family to worry about him. It is
later revealed that Brian is diagnosed with cancer. This causes the relationship
between Gale and Brian to get stronger. Gale knee is better and he keeps on
continuing winning games just for his friend
A Brief Look at Queen Elizabeth I
Many people, in England, believe that there has always been one queen to stand
above the rest. That queen was Elizabeth the 1st. She has made many
accomplishments during her reign. From a compromise about what religion England
would follow to defeating the Spanish Armada.
Elizabeth was born September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. She was the daughter
of King Henry VII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth had a half sister
from the king s first wife, Catherine of Aragon, and also had a half brother from the
king s third wife, Jane Seymour. When Elizabeth was only two her father had her
mother executed for suspicion of adultery. When her father decided to have Elizabeth
s mother executed, he then stripped Elizabeth of her title as princess.
In 1553 Elizabeth s half brother, Edward, died at the age of nine. Shortly after,
Elizabeth s half sister took the throne. Her name was Mary. Mary caused many
problems for England. Mary believed that England should follow one religion and
anyone who did not follow this religion would be executed. Mary was Catholic. She
later got the nickname bloody Mary because she killed so many Protestants. This
caused a problem for Elizabeth because she was Protestant. Many people who did not
believe the Catholic faith thought that Elizabeth was the rightful ruler and plotted
against Mary. The leader of this plot was named Thomas Wyatt. He was organizing a
rebellion and soon Mary found out of this plan. She then had Elizabeth imprisoned in

As self serve increases in popularity, a decrease, or leftward shift, in the demand for
unskilled labor occurs. D.Holding all else equal, a fall in interest rates will increase
the attractiveness of capital relative to labor. Employers can be expected to substitute
capital for the now relatively more expensive labor. A decrease or leftward shift in
the demand for unskilled labor will result. Of course, this influence can be mitigated
to the extent that lower interest rates spur capital investment and a subsequent
increase in employment opportunities. E.An increase in the minimum wage will have
the effect of decreasing the quantity demanded of unskilled labor, while at the same
time increasing the quantity supplied. The first involves an upward movement along

Young Earth Scientists
How does current science support each of the Biblical views of Young Earth
Scientists(YEC), and Old Earth Scientists(OEC)? This is a question that is disputed
among many scientists. Although both groups believe that the Bible is the word of
God, they both interpret it differently. For example Young Earth
Creationists believe
that the earth was literally created in one week. Old Earth Creationists believe,
however, that days did not refer to 24 hours, but referred to longer periods of time. It
is important for people to understand the differences and similarities between the
beliefs of Young Earth Creationists and Old Earth Creationists, so that they can
determine which view is supported by science.
Although these two views differ greatly in some ... Show more content on

The main difference in belief is of the age of the universe. Both groups use many
difference exclamations to support their side of this issue. Ice cores have been
used to try to determine the age of ice sheets in Greenland, and Antarctica. This
works the same way as counting tree rings. However, it is not as simple. There is
still controversy on the outcome of this method. 110,000 layers have been counted
in the Antarctic sheet and have been claimed by some that these are annual layers.
If this were true, then that would suggest that the ice sheet is 110,000 years old.
But these layers have been shown not to be annual. Recently two B 17 Flying
Fortresses and six P 38 Lightning fighters were excavated in Antartica. Nearly 50
years after they went down, the planes had been covered in 250 feet of ice.
Hundreds of rings were noticed during the excavation. Since hundreds of rings were
produced in less than 50 years, this shows that the rings do not indicate years. The
excavation showed the rate of accumulation to be 5.5 feet per year. The deepest core
dug is was about 10,000 feet deep. After considering compression, 4,400 years is
enough time to produce that much ice(Ice Core Dating Segment). This shows that the
Young Earth Creationist time frame can fit in ice
Judaism Religion
Judaism is a religion that goes back many centuries. The earliest know account of this
religion dates around 2000 B.C.E. This is the approximate time a man named
Abraham made a covenant with God that also extended to his descendants. It was not
until the first century C.E. that classical Judaism came into being. Until that time
these people were called Israelites. Besides Abraham, the main figures in Judaismare
Isaac, Jacob and the prophet Moses. Still, followers of Judaism only believe in one
true godand do not worship anyone or anything else. They even avoid spelling the
word God to not risk disrespecting His name. Unlike other religions, much of
Judaism is very general and open to interpretation. Most of Jewish teaching focuses
on relationships

the students had the opportunity to listen to a holocaust survivor named Gerda

Columbine Shooting Conclusion
On April 20, 1999 a massacre happened at Columbine High school. This is a day
that Cassie Bernall died. Two boys one day decided to show up to the school with
guns. Many people have two of the wrong conclusion as to what happened that day.
The first one is the two boys wanted to get revenge on the bullies that made them
miserable at Columbine. They were known as the Trench Coat Mafia outcasts The
second conclusion is the unexplainable: We can never understand what drove them to
madness that day. But the correct conclusion to this situation was they wanted to kill
people at the school. They planned the shooting a year and advanced. These two
boys killed 13 kids and wounded 23 before they ended their own lives. One of the

Death Is An Issue That Everyone Contemplates At Some
Point
Death is an issue that everyone contemplates at some point in their lives. For many,
the topic conjures feelings of fear and worry and reminds them of their mortality.
Furthermore, the issue of death brings up a multitude of ethical questions. What is
death? Is it ever permissible to kill one s self or another human being? What
constitutes a good life? And perhaps chief among them: Is deathalways bad? Thinkers
of all stripes have struggled with this question and attempted to provide answers.
Two people who have explored this question are Simon Blackburn and Martin
McDonagh. The former in his book Being Good and the latter in his play The
Pillowman. In his play, McDonagh packs his prose with moral questions and ethical
dilemmas. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person who dies is denied the possibility of fulfilling their future desires which, for
Blackburn, constitutes a loss. Conversely, those that have never existed do not have
a desire of which they can be deprived. For Blackburn, these points underscore that
non existence after death is bad and is distinct from non existence before birth. That
said, Blackburn also says, But then what about desired death, such as suicide or
euthanasia (Blackburn, 71). In this quote, Blackburn hints at the issue of terminal
illness and concedes there are circumstances where death is not necessarily a bad
option. Blackburn argues that a terminal illness that entails considerable suffering,
eliminates any positive future possibilities, and only delays death is a scenario
where choosing death over life can be justified ethically. He further argues that a
doctor helping a terminally ill patient take their own life has not necessarily
committed a bad deed and is perhaps even showing them mercy because they are
reducing their patients suffering (Blackburn, 72). We should keep the nuances of
Blackburn s argument in mind when doing our analysis.
Now that Blackburn s ethical stance on the badness of death has been established,
we can begin our analysis of McDonagh s The Pillowman. In his play, Mcdonagh s
main character, Katurian, tells the story of the Pillowman. He is a man whose job it
is to seek out adults ready to commit

Multiple Myeloma Cancer
Multiple myeloma is blood cancer that starts in the plasma cells in bone marrow.
Plasma cells are white blood cells that help your body fight infection by producing
proteins called antibodies. When plasma cells grow out of control in the bone
marrow, they no longer perform their intended function in the immune system, they
form tumors in the areas of solid bone, and the growth of these bone tumors makes it
harder for the bone marrowto make healthy bloodcells and platelets. Multiple
Myelomais the second most common blood cancer in the United States and
constitutes approximately 1 percent of all cancers. The age adjusted death rate was
3.4 per 100,000 men and women per year, based on patients who died in 2005 2009
in the US. A plasmacytoma is tumor formed by a collection of aberrant plasma cells
in a single location. Plasmacytomas may be an indication or precursor for multiple
myeloma. This paper presents some highlights of the current approach for evaluating
and treating plasmacytomas. I am writing about this problem because my father
encountered a rare form of plasmacytoma last year that fortunately turned out to be an
isolated occurrence with no indication of systemic disease.
Plasma cells are a type of white blood cell formed from B cells produced in a person
s bone marrow. B cells mainly stay within the bone marrow and are responsible for a
specific defense mechanism that involves the production of antibodies by plasma
cells. These antibodies are able to move

Dances With The Wolves and Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee have similarities
and difference. Dances With The Wolves is similar to Bury My Heart At Wounded
Knee because each movie had it where one person from the opposite side
understood the Indians. Dances WIth Wolves understood the Indians like no other
white man could he was willing to get to know them and give them a chance.
Charles understood the Indians even though he grew up as a white he still loved his
Indian family and understood them even when no other would give them a chance
he still tried convincing people that they needed to be treated fairly and like whites.

considered the enemy. They both had where the whites were trying to get the land
from the Indians. The difference in the two movies though are that the main
character who switch in Dances With Wolves was white and the one who switched
in Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee was a Indian. Another difference was how in
Dances With Wolves the girl was first a white who switch to a Indian and in Bury

Texas Election System
With respect to every election race, we are reminded that decisions are both
profoundly charged typical customs of a voting based system in a democratic
society and is a key procedural part of our political system. Both segments of the
political elections, typical and procedural, serve key functions at all levels of our
political system.
With any decision, both parties (republican and democratic) campaign over the state
to gain support from voters to increase their chances of being elected to the office that
they desire. When voting most voters arrive at polling stations to vote, first for

A Contagious Disease

Or not. At least in my case. At 1:00am, you ll most likely find me at a desk,

However, what I m referring to is called passive procrastination, the term I
mentioned earlier. It s when you avoid a task to avoid negative emotions. You
instead replace the urgent task, with a mindless, more desirable task. Because of
this, procrastinators have poorer working habits than an active procrastinator, which
is someone who puts aside tasks they acknowledge are urgent, in place of tasks that
will be more rewarding in the long run. Like, creating an outline of a schedule on a
project to keep you organized.
So wondering why may you find yourself caught in this trivial phenomenon?
Behaviourally speaking, according to the causeofprocrastination.com, humans have a
tendency to discount delayed rewards, even if they have greater gain. For example,
if you had an assignment to complete in two weeks, the reward of getting an A,
holds less value than a video game you could be playing currently, which offers an
immediate, however mindless and smaller reward. Though, as the deadline draws
near, the reward begins to hold a greater value, but unfortunately for you, due to the
allotted time you spent gaming, don t be surprised if you find yourself cramming on

Why I Want To Stay In Wisconsin
Staying in Wisconsin has been a wonderful two years, and I benefit from the
academics here. As a computer engineer, I m encouraged to take both computer
science courses and electrical engineering courses, and the idea of being a person
excel at both software and hardware intrigues me. This semester I am taking Verilog
Design, Compilers, and Microprocessors as such, and it is such honor to take these

larger challenges in the future and help form the habit of self learning, and that is
what I believe my new school will help me with. Wisconsin trains great engineers, but
I believe my new school will make myself a true life problem solver. Besides
computer science, I have also longed for a liberal arts experience during my college

Urban Sprawl In Pennsylvania
Introduction Urbanization also known as urban sprawl takes place when people
migrate from cities and urban areas to less populated rural areas. This sounds
harmless, however urban sprawl has created detrimental environment, social, and
health effects. Although this issue is prevalent everywhere in the United States,
urbanization is especially common in Pennsylvania. This is a pressing public
administration issue because without limitations on urban development, American s

The Devil Baby at Hull House by Jane Addams and No Name Woman by Maxine
Hong Kingston are both stories that deal with women s issues. The Devil Baby at
Hull House is the story of how a myth of a devil baby can became an important
symbol for many women. No Name Women, on the other hand, is about the narrator
s desire for her aunt s story to be told. Both stories were written in the 20th century a
time period where women had few rights and where men attempted to dominate
women. The Devil Baby at Hull House and No Name Woman both argue that stories
serve as a way to shine light on the injustices women suffer. However, Maxine Hong
Kingstonis critical of her aunt s reaction and Jane Addamsis enthusiastic about the
idea that literature can soothe individual pain. In both The Devil Baby at Hull
House and in No Name Woman the men are the ones who cause harm to the
women and their children. In The Devil Baby at Hull House Addams describes
how in each version of the story of the devil baby the man is the one responsible
for the child s birth as a devil (75). The women and the child both have to suffer
because of the wrongful and insincere actions of the father. Similarly, in No Name
Woman the aunt s pregnancy was caused by an unidentified man who might have
also organized the raid against her (Kingston 386). Her death and disgrace was
caused by the man who took advantage of her. Additionally, the sufferingof the aunt
after death is caused by the narrator s

Features Of Inclusive Teaching And Learning
Inclusive practice is about adapting what is being delivered to make learning
accessible to everyone regardless of ability, special education need (SEN) or any
other barrier that might exist. When planning to meet the needs of everyone in the
group it is essential that the teacher has as much information about everyone as
possible. (The City and Guilds textbook level 3 Award in Education and Training).
Features of inclusive teaching and learning starts with knowing which learning
styles your learners prefer, to do this you can use VARK (visual, aural, read/write
and kinetic) test which was designed by Neil Fleming to help learners and teachers
know what learning methods they are best suited to e.g. in the first lesson my tutor

These are called energizers and can be subject specific such as a quiz or a fun
activity or game which gets the learners moving about. Always have a contingency
plan in case anything you planned to use isn t available, or if some learners finish
before others or don t wish to partake. Whichever way you use an icebreaker or
energizer, it should be designed to be a fun and light hearted activity to: Build
confidence Create a suitable learning environment Enable learners to talk
confidently in front of their peers Encourage communication, motivation,
interaction, teamwork, and inclusion Establish trust and respect Get the
programme off to a good start Help learners relax Introduce learners to each other
Minimize barriers Reduce apprehension and nervousness Reduce intimidation (The

of opportunity to all your learners means making sure that you are up to date with
your knowledge on the Equality act 2010: The Equality Act 2010 The Equality
Act 2010 replaced all previous anti discrimination legislation and consolidated it
into one act (for England, Scotland, and Wales). It provides rights for people not to

The Pros And Cons Of Obstetric Ultrasound
Catherine Mill argues that obstetric ultrasound has some impacts upon the embodied
experience of pregnancy. For her, Ultrasound does not simply represent an already
existing body, but actually constitutes the foetus as an embodied, social being. The
basic question whether abortion is morally right or wrong enters into another domain
through an analysis of biopolitics of reproduction. The routine use of ultrasound in
obstetrics has its impact on the intuitions about the moral status of the foetus.
ultrasound plays a significant role in the circulation and realization of norms in
reproduction by establishing and shaping embodiment and thereby constitute social
and ethical relationships. Ultrasound imaging allows the bodily life of the foetus...

Thus the technology produces a desire for norm. Ultrasound frames purports to
represent and contributes to the social production. This instance of ultrasound
provides an example of how reproductive technologies actively contribute to what
will appear as a viable life or bodily form within the social sphere. Ultrasound is
inherently normalizing. It allows for the identification and calibration of a set of
statistical norms. Ultrasound contributes to the normation of the gestational
development that is, it makes possible the formation and establishment of norms for
judging the gestational development of the foetus. In Foucault s account of
Biopower, norms and normalization include both discipline and Biopolitics of
populations, ie, the social and political regulation. For him, a normalizing society is
the historical outcome of a technology of power centred on life. Normalization
produces individuals as the counterpart of the operation of norms which is a
material artifact of power. In a Biopolitics of population, norms are mobilized in the
opposite way, ie, normal comes first and the norm is deduced from it. Thus

Life of Workers in Staithes Essay
Close by the giant textile mill row on row on row of drab terrace houses huddle

Night obscures the narrow streets of the industrial village of Holmeside as
morning s hesitant light pokes through the canopy of dismal clouds. Inside the
mill, workers have been toiling for hours. They rose from their beds early and put
on their work clothing. The lucky ones ate a crust of bread and drank the remains
of yesterday s milk before stepping out into the chilly darkness to make their way to
the mill. They carried the smallest children. Older children plodded along sleepily as

All that is human is troubled by their failure to benefit except by Death s summons.
The portal of the grave is their only means of escape.
Some said the disadvantages of the poor were their own making. Many believed
that the working poor were not fully human, but a bestial and inferior species,
unlike themselves, specifically supplied by Providence as servants through whose
labour they ran profitable enterprises. The poor were seen as a raw material in the
same class as wool and cotton. They were cheap to employ and easy to replace.
Those that looked down on workers failed to see that working conditions in textile
mills were why workers were afflicted with conditions for which no treatment existed.
These early morning people move in procession through the streets, uniting with
others at street junctions to form broader streams, merging with other streams as they
neared the mill to form a grand current of humanity closing on the massive iron gates
of the mill that were symbols of imprisonment. Once inside the gates, workers fanned
out to go to various work stations to work as machine minders in the manufactory.
This was the common condition of men, women, and children in the hard textile
country of Yorkshire s West Riding. The characters of Yorkshire folk were forged in
the crucibles of harsh terrain and exacting industrial environments.
Media Article On The Media
Reframing Sexting Media Article Media has been known to stretch many stories
throughout history. These misinterpreted stories have increased in the last decade
due to more media forms taking place such as Facebook, Twitter, and the wide range
of media sources now produced on the internet. One who is searching for accurate
information must be careful about what they are are looking for because many
articles misrepresent what actually happens. Biased information is very common in
experimental findings. There are often media sources that make findings more
interesting so that the particular company will get more attention. There are also
articles that simply misinterpret data and publish false findings. However, there are
also media articles that do publish information correctly. When searching for media
articles one must be careful to decipher the information given. Recently, CNN
published an article on sexting. Sexting is a frequent topic in the news today, but
what stands out is that the news article said that sexting can actually improve
relationships. Now, the stereotype that most people have heard about sexting has
been negative (and probably rightly so), so this stood out to me as an article that had
to be misinterpreting the experiment. This article exhibited some information that
was in fact true, but some of the information was also slightly biased. The actual
experiment itself rose some questioning. When looking at the article and study in
sexting, the important
Compare And Contrast Steamboat And Telegraph
Steamboat and Telegraph
The following presentation encompases two major historical milestones in the
development of american engineering and ingenuity. The first being the development
of the steam engine and the second the invention of the telegraph.
It s the 1800s and industrialization is thriving throughout America. People are
moving away from an agricultural way of life, moving into cities, developing arts
and trades and trying to expand their boundaries of who, where and how they can
trade marketable items. In trying to reach more and more customers at further and
further distances the ability to travel further in less time creates a demand. In this
time period most of the trade routes revolved around rivers as this was the easiest
method of transportation and the mighty Mississippi being the largest trade route.
However, the problem with traveling the Mississippi or any riverway at this time is
that you are at the mercy of the wind and currents. At this time you travelled by boat
with full sail and could not maneuver against tides or a poor wind. There was a need
to create something that could deal with this dilemma. More and more inventions and
machines are being created. With these inventions it becomes effortless to complete
painstaking tasks. The effect of this is tade becoming more ... Show more content on

The Importance Of Freedom Of Expression
We live in an ever changing world where media is growing day by day. Rules must
change to agree with the ever changing media and the effects of it. With all this
comes the question of how far and how much should media be regulated without
neglecting them of their rights. Some would say that the government has put too
much regulationon the media while others may think that media needs more
regulation. We must also acknowledge the Citizens freedom of expression and what
the people can do with those rights. In this paper, I will talk about Our Right to

In other countries, regulation on media is heavier than here in America. Over the
years, the FCC has loosened their ties on regulation. Newspaper and magazines are
not regulated that much and have much freedom to do what they please. While other
media outlets like Radio and Television Stations need license, and are regulated
heavier than the others (Bose, Dilulio, Wilson, pgs. 306 307) With all this regulation
on Radio and T.V, and debates with reporters and their freedom of expression,
citizens wonder if the internet/media world has freedom of expression.
Court Cases
In recent years as media grows bigger and more people depend on it. It arises the
questions like what is allowed on the internet? For example, we all know that content
that is not decent for minors is not allowed on certain websites and other media
spectrums; And that it is illegal to send indecent material to minors. This concept is
present in cases of the American Library Association v. U.S. Department of Justice
and Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, and Mainstream Loudoun, et al. v. Board
of Trustees of the Loudoun County Library.
These cases can be seen as a violation of our freedom of expressions, but these
regulations can be also seen as something good because they protect the children.
Other court cases have won with their freedom of speech/expression rights. Court
cases such as Hustler Magazine,

Early Sport Diversification Research
In regards to the development of young athletes, a controversial question exists;
will the path of early sport diversification or the path of early sport specialization
ultimately lead to greater sport expertise and elite performance? Specifically, what
effects can each pathway have on development of a child s physical fitness and
motor coordination as well as a young athletes career development? Stakes run high
for sports with limited scholarship availability and national team sports, so, when it
comes to athletes who are identified as talented at a young age, in many cases they

development of their physical fitness and gross motor coordination. Initially, the
data showed that boys ages 10 12 that sampled multiple sports had significant
differences in strength, speed, agility, and gross motor coordination. There also
existed a positive correlation between the number of hours spent participating in
sports per week and its effect on performance. Boys who spent more hours per

cardiovascular endurance, and gross motor coordination tests among all age groups.
Advantages of this study include that it s ability to gather data from a large

components of athletic development due to anthropometry, physical fitness, and

children who participated in multiple sports have better physical fitness and gross

Similarities Between Animal Farm And Animal Farm
Two visions; Different Results
In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm he asserts that following blindly , will lead
to government abuse and corruption. Orwell s assertion brings life to the philosophy
that a utopian atmosphere can never exist. Orwell s purpose is to deliver the idea of
communism not being successful and to make the audience reading not want to get
into communism. George Orwell informs the young audience of the danger with
communism. Orwell was a very cynical individual when it came to writing Animal
Farm . There were many similarities and differences between Martin Luther King Jr.
and the character, Old Major in Animal Farm. One similar political equality
between the two figures is they both had a vision or dream of inspiring the masses
of people to dream of a better future. between two groups of people. Despite having
so many similarities between the two there are also several differences as well.
Such as, the animals had different rights to fight for, for example, the animals were
being overworked by Mr. Jones and they were not receiving enough food. On the
other side, the blacks, during the Martin Luther King Jr. time period, were not able to
go in the same bathroom as whites. The Blacks had restrictions to their rights in the
idea of not being able to pursue certain circumstances as the whites did.
The historical figure Martin Luther King Jr. had many similarities and differences
with the character in Animal Farm, Old Major. Both individuals had visions of
rebellion but Martin Luther had the mentality of peaceful rebellion, while olf
major wanted violence. The significant events between Martin Luther King Jr. and
Old Major was the Beasts of England speech and the I have a Dream speech. Old
Major used Beasts of England to show the animals his vision or dream for the
farm. Also, Martin Luther King Jr. used I have a Dream to bring light to the idea
of black rights. Old Major and Martin Luther King Jr. both had both a goal in their
mind for what they want there atmosphere to be. In Animal Farm, the speech Beasts
of England was used and it said Beasts of England, Beasts of England, Beasts of
every land and clime, hearken to my joyful tidings (orwell 12) The quotes from the
Analysis Of Lemonade
With being nominated for nine different awards, Beyonces visual album Lemonade
is a one of a kind. During this 1 hour and 5 minute video, you watch a story. It is an
incredibly personal story to her as you can see with her actions, facial expressions,
and body language throughout the entire music video. You can hear how personal
this story is by listening to the lyrics of the twelve different songs in this music video,
by listening to the tone of voice that changes with every emotion, and by listening to
the spoken words/poetry carefully chosen to go between each song to portray an
even bigger message that is far beyond even her own lyrics. You watch Beyonce pour
her heart out during the Lemonade visual album about multiple topics that you can
tell are very close to her heart.Lemonade touches on many different topics but
ultimately it is about her husband Jay Z, being unfaithful. Throughout Lemonade you
watch an emotion journey beginning at the first signs of infidelity in Beyonce and
Jay Zs relationship to, ultimately, her forgiveness. Each of the twelve songs in this
visual album show how Beyonce gets to the point of forgiveness and show her
journey and how she dealt with the situation before her. The first song of the visual
album is Pray You Can Catch Me . When we are first introduced to Beyonce in the
visual album she is in the middle of a corn field. No makeup, simple black hoodie
on. She is distraught. She is saying I m prayin you catch me listening, because
Clear Lake Essay
Volcanoes are some of the most powerful natural forces known to man. Volcanoes
usually form at divergent and convergent boundaries. Sometimes they form in the
middle of plates where magma fights through the crust. By understanding volcanoes,
scientists get a window to the inside of the Earth. They can also study volcanoes to
perhaps get closer to predicting eruptions in the future. One of Earths volcanoes is
Clear Lake. Clear Lake has unique characteristics such as its location, how it forms,
and how it erupts. It had erupted in the past with the potential to erupt again. Clear
lake has interesting characteristics like were it is located, its size and height, an even
why it is there. Clear Lake volcanocan be found in Lake County, California... Show

Clear Lake is listed as a cinder cone volcano. It is categorized as dormant for its
inactivity the last 10,000 years but has great potential to erupt again. If it were to
erupt the eruption would be very explosive. What erupts out of the volcano would be
ash, andesitic lava, and basaltic lava. Clear Lake volcano is composed of different
types of rock such as major dacite, andesite, basaltic andesite, rhyolite, basaltic, and
picro basalt. The amount of silica are high (73%) and low in iron and magnesium
(3%). The gas trapped in the magma is high which suggests why it s short lived.
These gases are carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen
sulfide, and hydrogen fluoride. The explosiveness of the volcano are very
explosive in cinder cone volcanoes due to the high silica and low magnesium in
the volcano while shield volcanoes are quiet and composite are not as explosive.
The lava is much thicker and would not spread as much and would most likely stick
to the top of the volcano. In general, Clear Lake has its interesting features from the
type of volcano, the type of eruptions to the gases, silica, and magma within it it
really is an amazing
The Outsiders Character Analysis
Two characters that are really similar but so different. If there s a way to do
something illegal Dally will do it, whereas Johnny never breaks the law. While
Dally was living in New York he blew off steam by getting into fights, but johnny is
like a puppy on the side of a street. But they are also similar because they both have
neglectful and or abusive parents. Also, they both place In the book, The
Outsiders by S.E. Hinton Johnny and Dally are both different at first but when you

who Johnny looks up to hates doing things the legal way. When Dally, Johnny, and
Ponyboy sneak into The Dingo they all had the money to get in but Dally hates
doing things the legal way. Dally says to Cherry later on in The Dingo You ought
to see my record sometime, baby (22). Later on in the book it is mentioned that
Dally has a record with the police a mile long. Dally has to always finds a way to
break the law. Unlike his hero, Johnny does not break the law often. In Windrixville
when Johnny tells Ponyboy and Dally about turning themselves in he says I ain t got
no record with the fuzz .(87) Johnny uses his past, or lack of, with the police to help
his argument that turning themselves in is a good idea. This just one way Johnny
and Dally are different. In The Outsiders, Johnny differs from dally because Johnny is

Edward Witten is most known for proving the string theory using a mathematical
equation. Werner Heisenberg s research in 1943 became the base from which the
string theory grew from. Yoichiro Nambu, Holger Bech Nielsen, and Leonard
Susskind first had the idea of string theory in 1970, but the scientific community lost
interest quickly. Due to the discovery of quantum chromodynamics, John. H Schwarz
and Joel Scherk where able to study boson (elementary particle) patterns and found
that they acted as strings and that their properties matched graviton (elementary
particle). This discovery led to the bosonic string theory, which was the first string
theory that is still taught to students as they are starting to understand the ... Show

Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods
Last year my son joined the cross country at his high school and he needed clothing
apparel such as shorts, tops, and pants. We went to Dick s Sporting Goods Store
which is a leading sporting goods retailer offering an extensive authentic, high

meaningful, relatively similar, and identifiable segments or groups for a business to
make a profit by defining customer preferences regarding their needs and wants
(Lamb, Hair, McDaniel, 2017). The bases commonly used to segment consumer
markets are geographic, demographic, psychographic, benefit and usage segmentation

Symbolism In Roman Fever
Roman Fever, by Edith Wharton, follows two old friends, Alida Slade and Grace
Ansley, accidentally meeting in Rome after many years apart. The two have a long
history together and spent their whole lies in contest and conflict. Mrs. Slade is a
loud and jealous woman, who always held a deep rooted resentment for Mrs.
Ansley. Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two and self controlled. The setting
of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade both
coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat
dinner together on a terrace overlooking Rome. The romantic scenery reflects the
origin of their rivalry. In their youth, both women vied for the attention of a young
man, Delphin Slade. Mrs. Slade seems anxious to prove her worth over her longtime
friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who has influence over Mrs. Slade.
Wharton uses moonlight and knittingto reveal Mrs. Slade s shallow attempts to
project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it
is Mrs. Slade who falls apart.
Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the
women s conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. They sit outside, talking
about their daughters in the light of the evening or exchanging in a deep silence. It
seemed as though, to both, as there was a relief in laying down their somewhat futile
activities in the presence of the vast Memento Mori

Martin (2012) explains that British children are among the least likely to live with
both Biological Parents by the time they reach age 14, statistics show that in Britain
this is just 68.9%, whilst the same statistics in France are 79.5% and Finland at the
highest with 95.2%.
Changes in the different Family types will be outlined with evidence in the following
pages showing Evidence and Statistics.
Browne (2008) tells us that whilst Marriage is the usual type of relationship between
Men and Women, Marriages where it s the first time for both partners, is on a high
scale decline, numbers have at least halved since 1970. This means that there are
now more Reconstituted Families (families where at least one spouse will have
children from a previous relationship), also knows as Step Families. This is the
fastest growing family type as now nearly half of Marriages involve a second
marriage for at least one of the partners, reflecting an increase in Divorce Rates.
The most recent studies show that 42% of Marriages now end in Divorce and that
they are on the increase, although recent statistics contradict this fact, as they show
that Divorce Rates are decreasing each year. In 2011, there were 117,588 divorces,
compared to 121,779 in 2008, and a staggering 153,176 in 2003, a decrease of 30%
in 8 years (ONS, 2008 2011)
South African divorce rates are also decreasing, between 2005 and 2011, the numbers
fell, from 32,484 to 20,980, a difference of 55% (SSA).

1.3Methods and Assumptions Emission rates were estimated using either an
emission factor or mass balance technique. Emission factors were primarily taken
from USEPA s Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors (AP 42), Fifth Edition.
Actual annual emission rates in tons per year are calculated using the best available
information such as annual throughput or hours of operation, as appropriate for the
source. Annualized hourly emission rates in pounds per hour are generally calculated
by dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of hours in one year
(8,760). This provides the average hourly emission rate during the entire year,
regardless of whether the source was in operation. In general, maximum hourly
emission rates are calculated as a function of predetermined peak operational
parameters, such as the maximum hourly charging rate and maximum hourly fuel
throughput for incinerators. For other sources, where maximum hourly operational
parameters are unknown, maximum hourly emission rates are generally calculated by
dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of operating hours during
the calendar year. This provides the maximum emission rate for a one hour operating
period, though the rate is effectively averaged over the operational time frame.
Maximum allowable hourly and annual emissions are calculated by determining the
maximum emission rate of a pollutant that can occur at a source when operated at its
The Three Prisoners In The Myth Of The Cave
1.The Myth of the Cave is a parable that examines and tries to explain how one
forms their perception of the world surrounding them. There are three prisoners in
the cave and they are bound to one of the cave falls so that they can only face
forward. These men have been imprisoned in the cave since birth and they have
never left the cave. Behind them there is a fire and a raised walkway and the fire
projects the shadows of the objects that pedestrians are carrying. The prisoners
believe that the shadows are reality because these are the only things they have
experienced. However, one prisoner is able to escape and views the real world
outside of the cave. At first he is blinded by the fire in the cave and realizes that the

Essay about A Look at What is Inside Your Food in Food Inc.
What is food? What does our food really contain? We can go days, weeks, and
perhaps months and not noticing or taking a step back to wonder what our foods
contain. Reality is we don t always have the time to stop and notice these small
things. In the short term these things don t affect us, but in the long run what we
consider small and insignificant can come to ruin our health issue. Many Americans
do not know what is inside the foodthat they eat in their every day lives.
Food Inc. is a 2009 American documentary film directed by Robert Kenner, in which
we see the state of food industry within the United States. This film examines our
nation s food industry mostly seeing where the food we purchase at the grocery stores
and restaurants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidently, we are being fed from more that one cow and that gives us the chance to
catch a diseased due to one of those cows being contaminated with E Coli. Not only
are we not fully aware of what s being processed in our foods but also we are now
at the risk of getting diseases. On the other hand, some people may argue that, that
is why many companies provide food labeling to allow the customer to read what
the food contains. According to the article Food Labels on Better Health Channels,
they state that the food labeling is there to inform the people of the ingredients
contained in the foods. Clearly, we can see that the food labeling is their and its up
to the customer to read the label. The label is there to help the people make good
food choices. Although the food labeling is there to help us make a better nutrition
choice, I believe that we still aren t being well informed of what is inside our
foods. Many of the labels on foods will say that it is farm fresh, but does it really
come from all natural environments or not? We all the right to be informed of
where are food is coming from and where its being produced. Food Inc. allows us
to see not only how these farmers are treating the animals but also to see what they
are giving them to eat. As we saw, farmers are giving the growth hormones to the
chickens. At the end of the day we are the ones eating those chickens and most of us
are not aware of
Daniel s Interpretation Of King Nebuchadnezzar
Daniel 2:43 49, an excerpt from Daniel s interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar,
shows the power of God s connection with his children. Daniel, during the
explanation of Nebuchadnezzar s dream, depicts a statue with a head made of gold,
the chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet
partly of iron and partly of clay (6). Danielthen tells Nebuchadnezzar that he is the
head of gold, the silver part of the statue is an inferior kingdom that will replace
him, and the bronze part is a third nation that will rule over the whole earth. As you
advance down the statue, the iron kingdom will be one that crushes and smashes
everything. Then the kingdom will be divided, which is symbolized by the clay and
iron feet. Finally, a stone will be thrown at the statue; this stone was a symbol of
God s Kingdom and this kingdom will stand forever (4). As Daniel told this to King

He believed that the only reason why Daniel would know how to interpret his
dream the way he did was by being the direct words from God. Nebuchadnezzar
saw Daniel s God as the Revealer of secrets and the secrets held within his dream
was opened by the messenger of God, Daniel. Since Daniel was the messenger of
God, Nebuchadnezzar believed that he must reward him with the highest honor and
show him respect. I find it interesting in the fact that the King does not dismiss the
other gods, but instead says that God is the God of all Gods. I find that quite
hypocritical as the second commandments say You shall have no other gods before
Me (Exodus 20:3 NKJV). Nebuchadnezzar goes against the second commandment
and refers to other gods when referring to God
Essay on Romantic Poetry
Poetry is a varied art form. Poetry is expression with words, using aesthetics and
definition. Word choice in poetry is the single most important thing. Devices such as
assonance, alliteration and rhythm work in a poem to convey a certain image or to
facilitate understanding. Similes and metaphors can take two unlike objects, such as
a potato and cinderblock, and if done the correct way use them to describe how
Abraham Lincoln dealt with scoundrels. Poetry is beautiful. One of the best genres in
poetry, let alone a great literary movement is Romanticismor the post enlightenment

Which heaven to gaudy day denies. One shade the more, one ray the less,

Which waves in every raven tress,

Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
And on that cheek, and o er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow, 15
But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Argumentative Essays On Education.pdf

  • 1. Argumentative Essays On Education Writing an argumentative essay on the broad and complex topic of education can be quite challenging. The difficulty lies in the vastness and diversity of the subject, as education encompasses various aspects such as philosophy, policy, pedagogy, socio-economic factors, and more. Crafting a compelling argument requires a deep understanding of these components and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources. To begin with, one needs to conduct extensive research to gather relevant and up-to-date information on the current state of education, recent trends, and ongoing debates. This may involve delving into academic journals, government reports, educational theories, and statistical data. Navigating through this sea of information requires analytical skills to identify credible sources and extract pertinent details. Furthermore, constructing a coherent argument involves critical thinking and the ability to evaluate different perspectives. Education is a multifaceted field with diverse opinions on what constitutes effective learning, the role of standardized testing, the importance of technology, and more. Balancing these viewpoints while forming a well-supported argument can be demanding. The organization of the essay is another aspect that poses a challenge. The writer must create a logical flow of ideas, ensuring that each paragraph builds upon the previous one. This requires a clear understanding of the essay's structure, including the introduction, body, and conclusion. Transitions between paragraphs and ideas are crucial to maintaining the coherence and persuasiveness of the argument. Additionally, the writer must be mindful of the audience and tailor the language and tone accordingly. The goal is not just to present information but to persuade and engage the reader. Achieving the right balance between formality and accessibility can be intricate. In conclusion, writing an argumentative essay on education demands a combination of research, critical thinking, organization, and persuasive writing skills. The intricacies of the topic make it a challenging yet rewarding task for those willing to delve into the complexities of educational discourse. • 2. Unity In Divergent Tris was forced to live in a dystopian society without knowing it. She grew up in Abnegation, (one of the five factions). Tris thought that all there was in life was being selfless, but there is more. Tris was tested to see what faction suits her. She had no idea what she would be. Little did she know that she was Divergent. Tris was a mix of three contrasting factions. Being Divergent is more divers than everyone else it can be dangerous but can it also be helpful? When some people read Divergent they think that it is about bravery or being selfless. I think it s about something different. In Divergent Veronica Roth displays that the book is not just about bravery. It s about being different and how being different can help you fit in. Early in the story Tris was supposed to be selfless because her current faction was based on selflessness. She never really felt that she was selfless. For example Tris was miserable unlike the average Abnegation on page 2 Tris explains that, other factions celebrate birthdays, we don t that would be self indulgent . Tris ... People who do this are distinct they do multiple things and that is what makes them happy. Tris dose multiple thing she is interested in being more than just being brave. She wonders and that is what makes her happy. If you are one of those people who feel that you are only part of one group you might benefit from reading this because being split causes chaos and being together sharing our differences in peace is the way I prefer to

  • 4. Building Integrated Photovoltaic ( Bipv ) Systems Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems are one of the most promising solar based technologies with the potential to minimise the high energy demands of office buildings in the Adelaide CBD. Recently, the Australian government has put in significant effort to increase the sustainability of existing buildings. The Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) program, released as part of the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act 2010, requires the owners of Australia s largest office buildings to reveal information regarding their energy consumption and efficiency to the public (Department of Industry and Science 2015). By replacing conventional building materials on the exterior of a building with solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, BIPV allows on site electricity generation to reduce the building s total energy consumption and emissions. A multifunctional technology, the modules can also serve dual functions as roofs, windows, walls, thermal insulation and daylight modulators, increasing energy efficiency and reducing operational costs. It is therefore recommended that the South Australian government develop policies and strategies to encourage the incorporation of BIVP into all future buildings and restoration projects. The development of BIVP standards and procedures will also be necessary to overcome the technical and financial constraints of BIVP and promote more industry professionals to partake in this new and innovative technology. In Australia, commercial buildings
  • 5. The War Of The American War II World War II is one of the most prolific events in American history. While soldiers were away on foreign soil, thousands of Americans at home were doing their part as well. For example many citizens worked in factories across the nation producing the supplies the military needed to accomplish their goal. When people think of the places that most frequently furnished these products the common perception is that most products were manufactured in the northern industrial states, although this is not always the case. Throughout the war Louisiana played a critical role in adequately preparing for the war. Louisiana played an important role in nearly every aspect of America s success in World War II, and likewise, it deserves to be highlighted. The American army lacked adequate preparation to go to war in 1941, but that soon changed. Nearly half a million soldiers participated in a series of military maneuvers, or games, across mostly north Louisiana. Fourteen of the 27 divisions of the army took place in these events. The Louisiana maneuvers have become one of the largest peacetime military maneuvers in American history. This practice proved to be important for the army. Brigadier Raymond H Fleming explained that everything the United States Army had, except for bullets, would be turned loose in Louisiana. This allowed for the soldiers, most of them being newly enlisted, to gather wartime experience. Likewise, not all commands were fully equipped with the latest technology, but through these games the ill equipped commands were able to see the effectiveness of the new technology. The soldiers that endured these games went through full paced war like maneuvers. The Army was divided into two and simulated a mock war between each other. The two armies went back and forth between over the course of ten days. They struggled through long hours and simulated combat. Along with the struggle of

  • 7. Theories Of The Deterrence Theory The deterrence theory, also referred to as the deterrence doctrine, deals with formal social control, in the form of judges, law enforcement officers, and the law itself. According to the deterrence doctrine, there are three ways punishment is carried out. The first way, is by the severity of the punishment. The deterrence theory explains that a person is less likely to commit a crimeif the punishment for that crime is more severe. Punishment for deviant activities and crimes can range from less severe to more severe. The second way is that punishment for a crime can either more or less assured. According to the deterrence doctrine, people will be less likely to commit a crime if they know they will be punished for their deviant or illegal actions. The third way is that punishment for committing a crime can be expeditious or passive, depending on the circumstance of the situation. According to Thio, Taylor, and Schwartz (2013) In general deterrence the punishment of a criminal deters the general public from committing crimes; in specific deterrence the punishment of a criminal deters the criminal alone from committing more crimes. (page 29) The purpose of testing the deterrence doctrine is to conclude if individual characteristics are directly tied with the weight individuals place on new information pertaining to their risk perception. According to Thomas, Loughran, and Piquero (2013), This research has examined how the cognitive decisions of adolescent offenders are influenced by judgement processes, including risk perceptions. In this study, there are three hypotheses. Hypothesis number one holds that how an individual responds to new experiences and information will differ from person to person and as a result, risk perceptions will vary from person to person. (Thomas, Loughran, and Piquero. 2013. Page 13) Hypothesis number two(a) holds that both psychological factors and cognitive factors play a role in determining an individual s risk perceptions, and that people with anxiety, behavioral problems, and low verbal IQ will possess low risk perceptions. (Thomas, Loughran, and Piquero. 2013. Page 13) Hypothesis number 2(b) holds essentially the opposite of hypothesis 2(a)., in that individuals with

  • 9. A Brief Look at Queen Elizabeth I Many people, in England, believe that there has always been one queen to stand above the rest. That queen was Elizabeth the 1st. She has made many accomplishments during her reign. From a compromise about what religion England would follow to defeating the Spanish Armada. Elizabeth was born September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. She was the daughter of King Henry VII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth had a half sister from the king s first wife, Catherine of Aragon, and also had a half brother from the king s third wife, Jane Seymour. When Elizabeth was only two her father had her mother executed for suspicion of adultery. When her father decided to have Elizabeth s mother executed, he then stripped Elizabeth of her title as princess. In 1553 Elizabeth s half brother, Edward, died at the age of nine. Shortly after, Elizabeth s half sister took the throne. Her name was Mary. Mary caused many problems for England. Mary believed that England should follow one religion and anyone who did not follow this religion would be executed. Mary was Catholic. She later got the nickname bloody Mary because she killed so many Protestants. This caused a problem for Elizabeth because she was Protestant. Many people who did not believe the Catholic faith thought that Elizabeth was the rightful ruler and plotted against Mary. The leader of this plot was named Thomas Wyatt. He was organizing a rebellion and soon Mary found out of this plan. She then had Elizabeth imprisoned in

  • 13. Young Earth Scientists How does current science support each of the Biblical views of Young Earth Scientists(YEC), and Old Earth Scientists(OEC)? This is a question that is disputed among many scientists. Although both groups believe that the Bible is the word of God, they both interpret it differently. For example Young Earth Creationists believe that the earth was literally created in one week. Old Earth Creationists believe, however, that days did not refer to 24 hours, but referred to longer periods of time. Although these two views differ greatly in some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main difference in belief is of the age of the universe. Both groups use many difference exclamations to support their side of this issue. Ice cores have been used to try to determine the age of ice sheets in Greenland, and Antarctica. This works the same way as counting tree rings. However, it is not as simple. There is still controversy on the outcome of this method. 110,000 layers have been counted in the Antarctic sheet and have been claimed by some that these are annual layers. If this were true, then that would suggest that the ice sheet is 110,000 years old. But these layers have been shown not to be annual. Recently two B 17 Flying Fortresses and six P 38 Lightning fighters were excavated in Antartica. Nearly 50 years after they went down, the planes had been covered in 250 feet of ice. Hundreds of rings were noticed during the excavation. Since hundreds of rings were produced in less than 50 years, this shows that the rings do not indicate years. The excavation showed the rate of accumulation to be 5.5 feet per year. The deepest core dug is was about 10,000 feet deep. After considering compression, 4,400 years is enough time to produce that much ice(Ice Core Dating Segment). This shows that the Young Earth Creationist time frame can fit in ice

The first one is the two boys wanted to get revenge on the bullies that made them miserable at Columbine. They were known as the Trench Coat Mafia outcasts The second conclusion is the unexplainable: We can never understand what drove them to madness that day. But the correct conclusion to this situation was they wanted to kill people at the school. They planned the shooting a year and advanced. For many, the topic conjures feelings of fear and worry and reminds them of their mortality. Furthermore, the issue of death brings up a multitude of ethical questions. What is death? Is it ever permissible to kill one s self or another human being? What constitutes a good life? And perhaps chief among them: Is deathalways bad? Thinkers of all stripes have struggled with this question and attempted to provide answers. Two people who have explored this question are Simon Blackburn and Martin McDonagh. The former in his book Being Good and the latter in his play The Pillowman. In his play, McDonagh packs his prose with moral questions and ethical dilemmas. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A person who dies is denied the possibility of fulfilling their future desires which, for Blackburn, constitutes a loss. Conversely, those that have never existed do not have a desire of which they can be deprived. For Blackburn, these points underscore that non existence after death is bad and is distinct from non existence before birth. That said, Blackburn also says, But then what about desired death, such as suicide or euthanasia (Blackburn, 71). In this quote, Blackburn hints at the issue of terminal illness and concedes there are circumstances where death is not necessarily a bad option. Blackburn argues that a terminal illness that entails considerable suffering, eliminates any positive future possibilities, and only delays death is a scenario where choosing death over life can be justified ethically. He further argues that a doctor helping a terminally ill patient take their own life has not necessarily committed a bad deed and is perhaps even showing them mercy because they are reducing their patients suffering (Blackburn, 72). We should keep the nuances of Blackburn s argument in mind when doing our analysis. What about intolerance right here, right now? What about stereotypes and judgments made about someone based upon his or her sexual orientation, race, or economic status? Plasma cells are white blood cells that help your body fight infection by producing proteins called antibodies. When plasma cells grow out of control in the bone marrow, they no longer perform their intended function in the immune system, they form tumors in the areas of solid bone, and the growth of these bone tumors makes it harder for the bone marrowto make healthy bloodcells and platelets. Multiple Myelomais the second most common blood cancer in the United States and constitutes approximately 1 percent of all cancers. The age adjusted death rate was 3.4 per 100,000 men and women per year, based on patients who died in 2005 2009 in the US. A plasmacytoma is tumor formed by a collection of aberrant plasma cells in a single location. Plasmacytomas may be an indication or precursor for multiple myeloma. This paper presents some highlights of the current approach for evaluating and treating plasmacytomas. I am writing about this problem because my father encountered a rare form of plasmacytoma last year that fortunately turned out to be an isolated occurrence with no indication of systemic disease. Plasma cells are a type of white blood cell formed from B cells produced in a person s bone marrow. B cells mainly stay within the bone marrow and are responsible for a specific defense mechanism that involves the production of antibodies by plasma cells. These antibodies are able to move

However, what I m referring to is called passive procrastination, the term I mentioned earlier. It s when you avoid a task to avoid negative emotions. You instead replace the urgent task, with a mindless, more desirable task. Because of this, procrastinators have poorer working habits than an active procrastinator, which is someone who puts aside tasks they acknowledge are urgent, in place of tasks that will be more rewarding in the long run. Like, creating an outline of a schedule on a project to keep you organized. So wondering why may you find yourself caught in this trivial phenomenon? Behaviourally speaking, according to the causeofprocrastination.com, humans have a tendency to discount delayed rewards, even if they have greater gain. The Devil Baby at Hull House is the story of how a myth of a devil baby can became an important symbol for many women. No Name Women, on the other hand, is about the narrator s desire for her aunt s story to be told. Both stories were written in the 20th century a time period where women had few rights and where men attempted to dominate women. The Devil Baby at Hull House and No Name Woman both argue that stories serve as a way to shine light on the injustices women suffer. Some said the disadvantages of the poor were their own making. The poor were seen as a raw material in the same class as wool and cotton. They were cheap to employ and easy to replace. Those that looked down on workers failed to see that working conditions in textile mills were why workers were afflicted with conditions for which no treatment existed. These early morning people move in procession through the streets, uniting with others at street junctions to form broader streams, merging with other streams as they neared the mill to form a grand current of humanity closing on the massive iron gates of the mill that were symbols of imprisonment. Early Sport Diversification Research In regards to the development of young athletes, a controversial question exists; will the path of early sport diversification or the path of early sport specialization ultimately lead to greater sport expertise and elite performance? Specifically, what effects can each pathway have on development of a child s physical fitness and motor coordination as well as a young athletes career development? Stakes run high for sports with limited scholarship availability and national team sports, so, when it comes to athletes who are identified as talented at a young age, in many cases they are pushed to specialize in that sportearly by parents with high expectations and aggressive coaches eager for success. Initially, the data showed that boys ages 10 12 that sampled multiple sports had significant differences in strength, speed, agility, and gross motor coordination. There also existed a positive correlation between the number of hours spent participating in sports per week and its effect on performance. Boys who spent more hours per week training did significantly better on the strength, flexibility, speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance, and gross motor coordination tests among all age groups. Advantages of this study include that it s ability to gather data from a large population of boys from multiple age groups (6 12) and focuses on the basic components of athletic development due to anthropometry, physical fitness, and gross motor coordination. Unfortunately, the study failed to recognize if the children who participated in multiple sports have better physical fitness and gross motor coordination solely due to sport sampling. It is possible that better athletes choose to participate in more sports. Fransen et. al (2011) concluded his study finding that early diversification may lead to slower improvement in performance than early specialization, but spending many hours per week in multiple sports before the age of twelve exposes children to a broad range of physical, personal, and

Humanity is made up of the qualities of being a human being, which refers to living civilized, being humane, and working together. However, in the novel and the poem people forget their values of living civilized lives of their qualities that make them humane, and become their inner evilness that turns them into angry savages. George Orwell informs the young audience of the danger with communism. Orwell was a very cynical individual when it came to writing Animal Farm . There were many similarities and differences between Martin Luther King Jr. and the character, Old Major in Animal Farm. One similar political equality between the two figures is they both had a vision or dream of inspiring the masses of people to dream of a better future. between two groups of people. Despite having so many similarities between the two there are also several differences as well. Such as, the animals had different rights to fight for, for example, the animals were being overworked by Mr. Jones and they were not receiving enough food. On the other side, the blacks, during the Martin Luther King Jr. time period, were not able to go in the same bathroom as whites. The Blacks had restrictions to their rights in the idea of not being able to pursue certain circumstances as the whites did. The two have a long history together and spent their whole lies in contest and conflict. Mrs. Slade is a loud and jealous woman, who always held a deep rooted resentment for Mrs. Ansley. Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two and self controlled. The setting of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade both coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat dinner together on a terrace overlooking Rome. The romantic scenery reflects the origin of their rivalry. In their youth, both women vied for the attention of a young man, Delphin Slade. Mrs. Slade seems anxious to prove her worth over her longtime friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who has influence over Mrs. Slade. Wharton uses moonlight and knittingto reveal Mrs. Slade s shallow attempts to project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it is Mrs. Slade who falls apart. Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the women s conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. It seemed as though, to both, as there was a relief in laying down their somewhat futile activities in the presence of the vast Memento Mori

This means that there are now more Reconstituted Families (families where at least one spouse will have children from a previous relationship), also knows as Step Families. This is the fastest growing family type as now nearly half of Marriages involve a second marriage for at least one of the partners, reflecting an increase in Divorce Rates. The most recent studies show that 42% of Marriages now end in Divorce and that they are on the increase, although recent statistics contradict this fact, as they show that Divorce Rates are decreasing each year. In 2011, there were 117,588 divorces, compared to 121,779 in 2008, and a staggering 153,176 in 2003, a decrease of 30% in 8 years (ONS, 2008 2011) South African divorce rates are also decreasing, between 2005 and 2011, the numbers fell, from 32,484 to 20,980, a difference of 55% (SSA).

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.3Methods and Assumptions Emission rates were estimated using either an emission factor or mass balance technique. Emission factors were primarily taken from USEPA s Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors (AP 42), Fifth Edition. Actual annual emission rates in tons per year are calculated using the best available information such as annual throughput or hours of operation, as appropriate for the source. Annualized hourly emission rates in pounds per hour are generally calculated by dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of hours in one year (8,760). This provides the average hourly emission rate during the entire year, regardless of whether the source was in operation. In general, maximum hourly emission rates are calculated as a function of predetermined peak operational parameters, such as the maximum hourly charging rate and maximum hourly fuel throughput for incinerators. For other sources, where maximum hourly operational parameters are unknown, maximum hourly emission rates are generally calculated by dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of operating hours during the calendar year. This provides the maximum emission rate for a one hour operating period, though the rate is effectively averaged over the operational time frame. Maximum allowable hourly and annual emissions are calculated by determining the maximum emission rate of a pollutant that can occur at a source when operated at its
