are available for LGBT youth in the greater Los Angeles area? . We chose this
question because the majority of the young people receiving services at our site are
homeless, and as everyone knows, homelessness is a condition that can quickly lead
to despair. We firmly believed that locating LGBT themed social gatherings, groups,
and organizations would be an essential step in pointing these youths towards systems
of support that could help make their difficult circumstances more bearable.
Also, it was vital for us to focus only on social outlets that were LGBT centric for
these young people, being marginalized members of an already marginalized
community, the homeless have distinct needs that other individuals don t. And when
these needs aren t met, the consequences can be tragic. Research shows that
approximately 62 percent of homeless LGBT youth attempt suicide (Center for
American Progress, 2010). Before we began our work, officials at our site informed
us that they did not have a list of social outlets for the clients, which made our asset
map that much more important.

socioeconomic status, life chances, media, etc. It affects everyone even if they
realize or not. Education is one of the things that are also affected by the racial
stratification occurring in the United States. In this paper I will look in to whether
Tennessee is better or worse for educational advancement by comparing four races
and their high schoolgraduation rates on the national and state levels. The four
races used will be; Asian, Black, Hispanic/Latino, and White. I will then tie

The data collected from the NCES and Tennessee state report card provides
empirical evidence that a racial gap does exist on the national and state levels. I

Hispanic/Latinos are much lower than the others. The Table provides the exact
percentage on graduation by racefor the state and national level. Asians had the

In today s society, we have a mental health crisis that affects everyone, especially the
veteran population. Mental health crisis range from one extreme to another being
death, suicide or homicide. A goal for health care providers is to prevent these types
of those extremes from happening. The most widely used social cognition model for
predicting and explaining health behavior is the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ogden,
2003).
Icek Ajzen s Theory of Planned Behavior was used as a framework to explain the
relationship between one s attitude and behavior and whether or not it can be
predicted and or prevented. What the Theory of Planned Behavior focuses on are
three kinds of views, behavioral beliefs, normative beliefs and control beliefs
(Ajzens, 1971). Atzens suggests that behavioral beliefs focus on the likelihood of
the outcome of behavior and the evaluation and whether or not they have a positive
or negative attitude toward the behavior itself. Normative belief focuses on the
expectations of others and the motivation to comply with those said expectations
and if it is viewed as a result of social pressure or subjective norm (Ajzens, 1971).
Control beliefs go on to focus on factors that may positively or negatively influence
performance of that behavior and the thought power of those factors and perceived
behavioral control. When you consider all of these three views, you develop
