Comparing Way To Rainy Mountain And Being Country
Essay 2Scott Momaday s The Way to Rainy Mountain and Bobbie Ann Mason s Being
Country are two the texts to be compared. Though they share similarities, they too are quite
different. They both share similar topics, in that they are two stories of cultures, but written from
different perspectives of their cultures. Momaday is from the Kiowas tribe of the plains of
Oklahoma, and Mason from a farm in Mayfield, Kentucky. Both exhibit some comparisons, but
mostly contrasts throughout their writing. Momaday s American Indian heritage dates back to the
1880 s when his grandmother was born, where Mason s dairy farm heritage takes place starting
when she was born in 1940. I found both to be stories of each of the author s lives ... Show more

Momaday shows contentment in his work.
Mason, on the other hand, shows more resentment in hers. Bobby Ann Mason begins by describing
the simplicity of how her family lives. She begins this writing from when she was eleven years
old. Her mom and Granny were very dedicated farm women. They took care of all of the food,
clothing and just about anything else needed for them to run a household. As Mason shows, they
prove to be very resourceful and are capable of making the most out of what they have available.
On a typical day of food preparation by Mason s mom and Granny, Mason screams
Can t y all talk about anything but food? There was a shocked silence. Well, what else is there ?
Granny asked. Granny didn t question a women s duties, but I did. I wanted to be somebody,
maybe an airline stewardess. Also, I had been listening to the radio. I had notions
(106). She was beginning to develop her independence. Mason thought she would strive to better
herself to not have to suffer her mother s fate. She almost seems to be developing anxiety and
depression over food, though her family always seems to get by with plenty. I think this
dependence on nature was at the core of my rebellion. I hated the constant sense of helplessness
before vast forces, the continuous threat of failure...I especially hated women s part in the
dependence (106). She talks of

Star Formation Research Paper
Stars
Introduction
Those stars in the night sky seem small and tiny, but up close they would be millions of times
larger than the Earth. Stars are the most recognized astronomical objects and are the building
blocks of the galaxies. These luminous spheres made of plasma are responsible for the creation of
heavy elements like carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. They were among the first objects in the early
universe. Most of the elements found in the human body originated in stars, this means that we
are literally made of stardust. When you are staring at stars from the night sky, you are actually
looking back in time, the light you see could be from a million years ago. The study of the birth,
life and death of stars are the central field of astronomy today.

Well, the collision of 2 black holes as never been observed hear on Earth. The galaxy NGC 6240 is
a super galaxy formed by the collision of 2 smaller galaxies. Since every galaxy has a
supermassive black hole at the center of it, the NGC 6240 galaxy has 2 black holes at the center.
Scientists are predicting that someday these two black holes would collide. There are two
different outcomes of 2 black holes colliding. The first one is that if the 2 black holes are
spinning at very high speeds and come together at just the right angle, the smaller black hole will
be slingshotted away from the bigger black hole and sent hurtling through space. The second,
more likely outcome is that they will slowly come closer and closer together until they can t
escape each others gravity and eventually become one, when this happens the resulting black hole
is known as a Binary Black Hole. The energy emitted from the collision would be so great it
would send ripples through the space time fabric of the Universe. These ripples are known as

How Technology Can Help An Organization
As technology becomes more advanced many people tend to use it more often. They see that
technology allows them to do things quickly and easily. One example is paying a bill online. It s
a quick and easy process to learn. However, not all websites are made to only pay bills. Some are
made to shop, entertain, inform, or to help an organization. Many people don t really see what
methods people use to attract many people to go online. Nowadays many companies have created
their own websites to have their customers use at their convenience. Air1.com is an uncommon
website, created by the Air 1 radio station which plays Christian music. The Air1 website contains
rhetorical appeals using Ethos, Pathos, and Logos to persuade listeners of the Air1 radio station to
keep it on air.
ETHOS
Air1 is a radio station that has their own website which features options to have their listeners
help out with many charities and to help keep their station on air through donations. One charity
offers the EZ $40 monthly plan to help provide kids with the medicine they need for the
parasites and other diseases that they might be struggling with. They use ethos to try to persuade
people to donate to their station. They also use it to show that all the money that is donated goes
to several good causes. In one of their buttons featured on the right side of the page is an option
where any listener can leave a prayer if they ever feel like they need to strengthen their hope so that
they never lose it.

Witch Hunts
Have you ever just been minding your own bussiness and then someone comes to you and falsy
accues you of something that you did not do? The mian idea in a witch hunt is to get rid of or
exguish someone that in your eyes has done something socially wrong. People were scared of
social outcast because they were different.
During the time of the McCarthy witch hunts, which was aganist people who thought commuism
was better way of goverment, their were certain people such as Lt. Milo Radulovich who were
falsly accused becuase of family members. Lt. Milo Radulovich was a Lt in the Air Force when

In 1995 where was a witch hunt (of the literal sense) in Wenatchee, Washington. The sex ring
story spilling out of Wenatchee, Washington, in 1995 sounded like something out of a lurid
psychological thriller (Kershner 32). This was a witch hunt were over 50 adults were accused of
molsting children. The whole entire town was put up on alert to the situation, even so the
preacher if the towns church was accused of molesting children on the church altar. Over 200
children witnesses came forward, there was an 11 year old girl who rode around the town in a
police car and pointed out all the house he was molested in, she pointed out over 21 different
houses. Over half of the child witnesses ended up mentioning the church in which they were
molested in and the called th ewhole ordeal the Church sex cases .

Grandiose Narcissism
Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan
(2013) study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of
narcissism. Dr. Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who
took the Narcissistic Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the
students scored above average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that
narcissists lack empathy, overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are
incapable of cheering anyone else s success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they
cannot form and maintain healthy relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or
the millenial generation has been well known for being the narcissistic generation. The term
Narcissistic was coined from the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012)
Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to
this because of loving oneself too much like Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two
kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on
grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. Grandiosity, as defined by Psychology Today, means an
unrealistic sense of superiority, a sustained view of oneself as better than others that prompts
narcissists to view others with disdain and view them as inferior. It also

The Esther Johnson Murder Case
John Tyler, age 28, was shot and killed with a handgun, fired by Jeff Ace Johnson, on July 16th.
The shooting occurred after an argument between Jeff (age 20 and a member of the Cobras street
gang) and Jerry Knight (age 22, member of the Jukers street gang and cousin of the deceased). The
accused may be convicted of either murder(the crimeof unlawfully killing a person especially with
malice aforethought) or voluntary manslaughter (the unlawful killing of a human being without
malice). After reviewing all the facts of the case, I have come to the conclusion that Jeff Ace
Johnson is guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
Intent or aforethought is a major difference between murder and manslaughter; murder is

Crime Social Policy
Crime Data and Social Policy
At the beginning of the second chapter, it is described how the statistics of a crime provide a
summary of the whole criminal activity. An accurate statistical picture of a crime benefits the
creation of a social policy. In a national level, the collection of crime statistics come from two major
sources, Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program and National Crime Victimization Survey
(NCVS). The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program produces an annual overview of major
crime in the United States. It is also known as the UCR/NIBRS Program. On the other hand, the
National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) of the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS): U.S.

This survey is based up on victim self reports rather the police reports. It is also designed to
estimate the occurrence of all crimes, whether it was reported or not. The NCVS system started
functioning in the year of 1972. The UCR/NIBRS and NCVS differ in that the UCR/NIBRS
Programs make use of data obtained by citizens reports of crime made to enforcement agencies,
while the NCVS utilizes survey data. A similarity between these two is that they both contain data
their creators think is appropriate.
Special Categories of Crime
The crime typology is a classification used to study and describe of criminal behavior such as legal
category, offender motivation, victim behavior, and characteristics of individual offenders. Special
categories of crime include: crimes against women, crime against the elderly, hate crime, corporate
and white collar crime, organized crime, gun crime, drug crime, high technology and computer
crime, terrorism (domestic international, cyber) and crime in international context: unlawful
activities that occur across national boundaries such as human trafficking and money

Dualism Vs Physicalism
I would like to begin this paper by addressing what question I hope to answer through the entirety
of this paper: is the mind physical? As simple as this question may seem to be, there still, to this
day, is not a definite answer. There are, mostly, two approaches to answering this problem, through
dualismor physicalism. The dualist, for the purposes of this paper, simply believes that the mind
and the body are not equal and therefore, they are not one in the same. The physicalist, however,
would come back to say that there are no such things as non physical objects and therefore, they
would conclude that the body and the mind are both physical. After weighing on both sides of this
argument, I am going to defend the physicalist ideas and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An objection to this statement would be that we are not actually gaining any new knowledge
after experiencing events. What if, in reality, all we are doing is obtaining a new ability? Since
we already know all the physical information about experiencing the color red, the physicalist
would say that there would not be any new knowledge to obtained from this event, but instead,
we just know the ability to see the color red now. But, in another section of Jackson s article, he
refers back to the famous article What is it Like to Be a Bat?, written by the philosopher Thomas
Nagel, to help strengthen his argument against physicalism. Jackson states how there is no
amount of physical information that could possibly tell us what it is like to be anything other
than a human being (Jackson 416 417). For instance, the dualist would say that I cannot possibly
understand what it is like to actually be a dog. Even if I were able to obtain all the possible
physical information there is about dogs, according to the dualist, I would still be missing the
actual experience of being a dog. However, the physicalist would still argue that, although I am
not a dog, I can still know the physical information about what it is like to be a dog and know how
they perceive and experience everything in life. Then if, some day, I

Self Destruction Of Abortion Research Paper
Self destruction or Abortion?
There are many things in this world that people have different views on, but this topic, I feel, is a
very controversial one that causes a lot of dispute. I feel that if you are a victim of rape then you
should have the right to have abortion be one of your options.
This should be acceptable because most likely, the molested will have PTSD and having a
product of that situation around will only make it worse. I think I speak for everyone when I say
that you wouldn t want to have a child that would remind you of that horrible time in your life
every time that you look at them. That would make your child s life even harder, to have a mother
who is disgusted by their own offspring. Also, your psychological problems, ... Show more content

It should be your decision as to whether or not you want to bring your nightmares back to life and
continue out the pregnancy. No one should be able to decide your future for you, you determine
how you want to live your life. Furthermore, these rape victims may not be at a point in their
lives where they are able to financially support themselves and a baby, which could be the
reason why they don t already have kids, and now one is being forced upon them. Honestly, I feel
like the worst thing that could ever happen is to being put in a situation that you know you can t
handle. Nobody choses to get raped, and rape is always a traumatic experience. A poll taken by the
Gallup Organization in 1989 indicated that 81 percent of Americans approved of abortionin cases
of rape or incest and 75 percent approved if carrying the pregnancy to term would damage the
mother s health. If more than half of the population that voted agreed that it was acceptable 26
years ago, then why are people today so against it? Because of those opposed to abortion [they]
were able to chip away at the availability of that procedure.

Analysis Of Miracle By Tope Folarin
To many, miracles are a very real phenomenon, and many people adamantly believe that miracles
are performed every day. While there are many interpretations of what a miracle may be, the short
story Miracle, by Tope Folarin, puts the concept in a distinct context. The story details the
experience of a boy being a skeptical participant in a miracle in a Nigerian church. The story is
multifaceted in that it addresses multiple power dynamics using various details, however, the main
conflict is between the traditional beliefs of the older church members and the skepticism of the
youth. Ultimately, Folarin argues that miraclesare not supernaturalevents that instantly change
lives, rather they are circumstantial and are realized over time as a result of perseverance. To do
so, Folarin uses literary devices such as characterization of the members of the church,
situational irony, and setting. Miracle details the story of a boy being part of a miracle in a
Nigerian church. He begins by describing certain rituals of the church, such as a prayer and
performing Nigerian songs. Eventually, a short, blind old man described as a prophet reaches the
pulpit. Most people at the church were Nigerian immigrants looking for miracles, and believed he
could perform them. He promises the members of the church that they will receive powerful
blessings so long as they are faithful (Folarin 75). He then calls the boy to the pulpit, declaring that
he will cure his sight so that he will

Weight: The measure of the gravitational pull on an object. Mass: The amount of matter in an
object. Mass and weight are different because your mass will always be the same, but your
weight will be different depending on the amount of gravitational pull on an object. Weight is
the measure of gravitational attraction of an object, while mass is the amount of matter making
up an object. Weight and mass are different because weight changes depending on the gravity
pulling on the object. For example, and object on earth may be 180 lbs. but on the moon they
are 30 lbs. Mass on the other hand does not change because no matter where the object is, it is
still made up of the same amount of matter. Mass is the amount of matter in an object, while
weight is the gravitational force on that object. They are different because if you sky dive, you
would be weightless, because gravity is pulling you down, but not mass less (I think I made that
word up :). If you were mass less, you would shrink down to nothing because all of the matter in
you would be gone. Explanation These desricbed the meaning of each

How Did Elizabeth Bennet Change In Pride And Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice In Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen there were many scenes where she
made the characters go against what was expected and normal of the time period. Elizabeth Bennet
was the main character that went against society and the social norms the most. Elizabeth didn t
want to just marry someone with money and was handsome, she wanted someone to love and be
able to express herself around them. Jane wanted the same exact thing but in a way still followed
the social norms her mother, Mrs, Bennet, expected. Fitzwilliam Darcyhad his own idea on how a
woman should act and behave and Elizabeth went against all of that and in the end that was what

Abstract
This study presents a power management system (PMS) for a hybrid renewable energy system
(HRES) using hydrogen as an energy vector. The fuzzy control system takes into account the
uncertainties of the load demand and the power production from renewable energy sources (RES).
The fuzzy control system evaluated differs of the traditional PMSs, as it considers a single level
prediction of the DC net power and its uncertainty from of HRES allowing a suitable decision that
increases the lifetime of the fuel cell electrolyzer and

The Organ Of Organ Transplantation
One of the most significant issues concerning organ transplantation revolves around the just and
fair distribution of organs. Due to the assorted and occasionally conflicting opinions of what
constitutes as fair , in concurrence with a relative shortage of donated organs, many social, legal
and ethical contentions have arisen. This shortage is portrayed by statistics shown on the NHS
organ donationpage, where approximately 10,000 people are on the waiting list for a solid organ
transplantand approximately 1,000 people die annually whilst waiting for an organ transplant and
in 2013, a record 4,655 patients received a solid organ transplant (National Health Service, 2014).
Furthermore, it is important to observe the fact that the organ donor deficit is growing, even
factoring in the 50 percent increase in live donations since 2008. This deficit can be attributed to
the rate of increase in donated organs falling short of the greater increase in transplant requiring
patients. This can be further illustrated statistically where the number of people requiring organs
has increased from approximately 8,700 to approximately 10,000 between 2005 and 2013
(National Health Service, 2014). There are a myriad of contributing factors that can be held
responsible for the rise in required organs, including the prevalence of diseases inflicted through
lifestyle choices i.e. obesity and smoking, as well as improved medical science resulting in an aging
population. Additionally, there are

similar as well. For example, the account of the healing of the leaper occurs in all three books and

The common belief among source critics is that, the Gospel of Mark is the oldest and Matthew and
Luke used his gospel along with an unknown source to write their Gospels. Evidence supporting
this view make the makes four points. First, the Luke s Gospel is contains approximately half of
Mark s information and Matthew s Gospel encompasses almost all of Mark s views. Second,
Mark s words are used verbatium Matthew and Luke. Third, Matthew and Luke follow the same
sequence of events as Mark. Finally, Matthew and Luke sometimes reword Mark s uncomfortable
passages of scripture to allow smooth transitions and ease of understanding.[5] Markan Priority
The Markan Priority is the belief that Mark was the first to write his account then Matthew and
Luke used his recordings along with an unknown source to write their accounts. Although it is
said that Matthew and Luke used Mark s account and another unknown source to write their
versions of the gospel, it is also believed that Mark used some unknown source to supplement his
gospel as well.[6] Weaknesses in the Markan Priority To accept the Markan Priority one must first
denounce the word of Jesus, that the Holy Spirit would bring all things back to their remembrance
; the testimonies of the early church leaders and historical facts. Also, if Matthew and Luke were
present at the same time that Mark was present, why would they need to use Mark s account?[7]

Slam, Dunk and Hook, and Fast Break
In the game of basketball there are two items that are required to play, a ball and a hoop. In the
poems Slam, Dunk and Hook by Yusef Komunyakaa and Fast Break by Edward Hirsch, the
authors describe the sport of basketball in their own views. Depending on where you are, people
view basketballdifferently. Basketball may be a mans best friend. The court may be a home for
some. In these poems, the authors view the game of basketball entirely different. The
correspondence amidst a playerand the game of basketball is key in these poems, for it may be
distinct depending one where you live and how you view the game. Both authors have a
contrasting rhythm that contemplate the rate of the sport. In Edward s poem, there are not many
commas or periods. Reading through it, it flows gently. Hirsch s view on the game is how gently
it is. When the player goes up and down the court, the ball dribbles slowly. It also shows how the
game is slow and swifts thoroughly. The poem is chopped down into many into small units
showing how a basketball team is divided by players. In Yusef s poem, the lines are going by fast.
He uses numerous amounts of commas and periods. The periods and commas show how fast the
heart of a player beats on the court. Yusefs view of the ball bouncing is fast paced and rapid.
Players here are tough and energetic, while in Hirsch s poem, the players tend to relax more and
play with such elegance. Both poets show love and compassion for the game, but both poets

A Study On Expansive Soil
1.INTRODUCTION
Expansive soil is considered one of the most common causes of pavement distresses. Depending
upon the moisture level, expansive soils will experience changes in volume due to moisture
fluctuations from seasonal variations. The objective of this research was to evaluate existing repair
projects on selected roadways. Those roadways experienced failures in the form of fatigue and
rutting in the wheel path, and longitudinal (faulted) cracking including edge cracking. The causes
of those failures were mainly linked to high plasticity expansive soil and narrow pavement. The
study involved visual survey, field and laboratory testing, surface condition/ride data and structural
design calculations for three project sites. The study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expansion potential is dependent on mineralogical composition of soil which influences the index
properties of soil. Several investigators proposed criteria for qualitative assessment of Expansion
Potential making use of index properties of soil .Uncertainties arise in making use of these criteria,
since the soil properties cannot be used separately but collectively to assess Expansion Potential.
(Venkata, 2009)
1.1 Origin and Distribution:
Expansive soils are made up of clay particles that result from the alteration of parent materials.
Alteration takes place by several processes: weathering, diagenesis, hydrothermal action, neo
formation, and post depositional alteration. Most clay minerals are transported by air or water to
areas of accumulation. Once deposited, the materials are subjected to the local conditions of
accumulation (overburden) 1nd erosion which make up the geologic stress history of the materials.
Thus, the existing clay soil at a site is the product of parent material, mode of alteration, and
geologic history. Interaction between the soil and the local environment produces continual change
in the soil and determines future behavior. Expansive soils are distributed all over the world.
Usually the areas with the most severe problems are those with local climates that produce
desiccation. A recent report provides the results of a study of the distribution of expansive soils in

Being a man isn t always easy, for most of their life they are taught to show no affection and to be
tough in almost every situation. The tragedy of machismo is that a man is never quite man enough.
Hunters in the Snow , by Tobias Wolff, three hunting buddies, Frank, Tub and Kenny, set out on a
hunting trip together as they have done for years. Tub, who is over weight, self conscious and a
good friend, shows some of his weaknesses, strengths and hardships that are sometimes placed on
men in different situations. The protagonist, over weight, Tub and his two hunting buddies, Frank
and Kenny take off early one morning to the snowy mountains for a deer hunt. When they arrive
and begin heading to the woods they near a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s the way I feel about it (39). Despite how manly Tub is supposed to be as a man, the two men
have this special bond together and they show it. Tub then tells Frank, When I said that about
my glands, that wasn t true. The truth is I just shovel it in (40). Regardless being made fun of or
picked on about Tub s weight and clumsiness, Tub is yet a good listener and a great friend.
Ironically, at the end of the story the two guys, Tub and Frank, are bonding and supporting each
other at the diner they stop at to get warmed up before the hospital, even though their other
friend Kenny is in the back of the truck dying. Frank tells Kenny, It wouldn t hurt so much if you
just stayed put. Now we re going to the hospital. Got that? Say it I m going to the hospital (39).
Once they leave the diner and are headed back towards the hospital, Tub turns back to Frank, I
just pulled a real boner, he said. What s that? I left the directions on the table back there (39). A
man having to be tough and to show no affection can sometimes take a toll on their physical self
being, yet they can also still be somewhat sensitive to others emotions and feelings. In this short
story by Tobias Wolff, Hunters in the Snow , Tub shows some situations of strength, weaknesses
and hardships men endure as a friend or

The present study attempts to analyse the governing factors behind the delays in construction of
highway projects in India. Ahmedabad, largest city in the state of Gujarat and the adjoining
areas are considered for fetching the data required in the present work. Pre designed
questionnaire is prepared and used as a research tool for collecting information pertaining to
frequency of occurrence of non value adding activities in highway projects with respect to
construction practices. Seventy seven samples are being collected and the same are used here for
the analysis. Fuzzy Logic based Delay Prediction Models (FL DPM) are developed to predict the
delay in construction of highways for different levels of control over the three categories of
predictor variable i.e. Human Resource, Equipment and Material. The developed models are
observed to predict the delay in projects satisfactorily as validated by the collected responses. These
models find application in Indian infrastructure industry where a huge uncertainty prevails right
from the planning phase to the execution of the project. The findings here can facilitate
dissemination of research and practice of Lean Construction concept among stakeholders of the
Indian construction sector which is believed to mitigate various losses that accompanies the
conventional approaches, particularly in the execution of highway projects.

Colin Powell s 18 Leadership Principals
General (USA Ret) Colin L. Powell s 18 Leadership Principals
During his distinguished military career, General Colin Powell exemplified what it means to be
a great leader. In a briefing given to the Outreach To America Program, General Powell outlined
18 principals that all leaders should strive to encompass. After reviewing his brief, three of these
principals stuck out Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off , The day soldiers stop
bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them and Perpetual optimism is a
force multiplier . These three principals resonate with my personal experiences in the military and
in leadership.
The first principal, Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off , is something that I
struggled with early in my military career. I was eager to prove myself and accomplish missions
assigned to me at any cost. As my career progressed and I had soldiers assigned to me, I realized
that being a yes man is not always the responsible choice. When the safety and welfare of others
is put in to your hands you must put your own ambitions aside and consider the big picture.

Either case is a failure of leadership. I have encountered a few cases of toxic leadership during
my career and this warning sign was present in each of those units. As a leader I make it my
personal mission to create a culture in which soldier s feel comfortable and confident enough in
me as their leader to bring forth their problems. It is important as a leader to focus on the big
picture but also not lose sight of soldier care. At the end of the day, you cannot accomplish the
mission by yourself, soldiers are the ones who execute

Kindness In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
Summer was dead, but autumn had not yet been born when the ibis came to the bleeding tree
(Hurst 384). James Hurst shows this vivid image in The Scarlet Ibis and foreshadows what will
happen later in the book. The narrator shows kindness in helping Doodle start to overcome his
disabilities of walking. But this is only after greed takes over and he doesn t want to wheel his
brother around anymore. He then later breaks down because he didn t want a disabled brother
and to hurt his own pride. The story is about two brothers and Brother (the narrator) has to help
Doodle to overcome his disabilities, but he is plagued with different emotions of kindness,
greed, and pride. Kindness is shown to Doodle in the way of his brother helping him. There is
inside me (and with sadness I have seen it in others) a knot of cruelty borne by the stream of
love. (387). I m going to teach you to walk, Doodle, I said.(388). The narrator takes Doodle almost
everyday and helps him to walk and then he can finally walk even though no one thought he could.

Food From The Sea Chapter 1 Summary
Australia has small crystals that enables scientist map out earths existence; they are called Zircons.
The earth began as dust. The planet was extremely hot at first and without a certain collusion it
would not be what it is today. A planet with four seasons and with tides in the ocean from the
moon. At first, there were no continents they would come along later, so it was mostly water. Next,
single cell organisms and photosynthesis would start creating oxygen. In fact, oxygen was so
abundant it froze most the planet. Eventually, oxygen would lead the planet to multicellularity.
Life would come and go many times over the course of time. This would be causes by catastrophic
events, but life would always be resilient. All life evolved from the sea.
This chapter tells us how the earth formed and all of the different cycles it went through to get
where it is today. It goes on to illustrate the beginning of life from single cell to multi cell. How life
would end and then come back with different creatures each time.

Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell
In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their
husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in
the marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go
smoothly. However, certain men in the 19th centurybegan to degrade women. Making women feel
worthless and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the
domestic duties that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play
Trifles, the play writer wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is
wrong to assume something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play,
written by Susan Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as
equal. In the play, Hale stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The
word trifles means something unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College
Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying that women worry over the small things in life,
instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in the play, the women focusing over trifles
is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to have an upper hand over the men.
Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn from her mother s example
that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected of her when she grew
up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many different ways.
It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable to any
family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels!
Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that
the County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the
sink instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful
quick. Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying

Which is to love and will be rewarded for in Heaven. Confession as a spiritual discipline requires
steps: training, self examination, to become aware. To be able to ask why and what happened,
having a new feeling, and making a new promise. In preparation, we ask for the Spirit s help
through prayer and consecration. We examine ourselves to find the sins in our lives. We ask for
a new insight of our sins and alternative for worldly habits. We then need to ask why we sinned
and what the consequences for our action of sin were. We then start to have a new feeling about
the sin through a transformation conviction. We adopt a new assurance about our sin. And you

The, Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel Essay
Intertextuality troubles the definition of autobiography in Alison Bechdel s Fun Home. Fun
Home is a retelling of Alison Bechdel s life through the lens of her relationship with her father.
However, because of what she considers to have been his suicide, Alison is left with an
incomplete picture of who he was in life. By calling Fun Home an autobiography, Bechdel enters
an autobiographical pact with the reader that ensures that what Bechdel is telling us is the truth.
However, elements out of her control leave Bechdel unable to provide certain objective facts
necessary to her narrative. As an attempt to remedy these absences and in turn maintain the
validity of her story, Bechdel uses intertextuality to fill in the gaps of in her retelling. By
overlaying masterplots of fictional narratives over her own, the reader is able to get at an
understanding of the kind of person Alison s father was. In this way Bechdel is able to reveal
things about her father that she can t prove to be true, but are reflective enough of his life to
become true. Although only referred to as autobiography in paratext, Fun Home falls under the
umbrella of narrative non fiction because it tells a true story. Abbott reinforces this in The
Cambridge Introduction to Narrative, stating that ...narrative non fiction differs from narrative
fiction in its referential function. We expect it to convey as best it can the truth of actual events.

Each author in his or her own way masterfully employs images in order to better support their
overall claims. Within her text, Workers Go Shopping, Milanesio expertly employs multiple photos
of Argentinians moving about their daily lives to illustrate how the importation of western culture
so greatly affected the emerging middle, and working class consumers. This gives great backing to
her thesis of how the emerging working class so greatly affected the transformation of Argentina
into a modern 20th century nation. Photos of the Argentinian people enjoying modern luxuries like
dance halls and vacations to the beach, are accompanied by advertisements from magazines and
street billboards which further illuminate the consumer culture which had engulfed the nation by
mid century. Milanesio also employs images to illustrate how the importation of western culture
also propagated gender roles for not only women, but men as well. Documents taken directly from
Argentinian media of the day can be seen encouraging women to aspire for beauty, but also
submissiveness. The propagation of the housewife myth, visible here in the Argentinian media, was
a very prevalent force in the society of the United States at this time and can be assumed to have
been heavily influenced by their neighbors to the north. Ads directed to women for sewing
machines and kitchen appliances were mirrored by ones pointed to men which embedded ideals of
masculinity and hard work. These advertisements not only encouraged an overall image of what
Argentinian people should aspire to, but also expanded the consumer market, thereby promoting
consumerism. These photographs of Argentinians enjoying the newfound luxuries of modernity
and consumer society gives great backing to Milanesio s thesis of how the

A Comparison of Corrupt Kings in Shakespeare s Henry IV...
A successful monarchy relies upon a stable leader who is concerned with the satisfaction of
those he rules over. Henry Bolingbroke the IV in Shakespeare s Henry the IV Part I follows a
trend set by his predecessor in Richard II of self indulgence and neglect of his kingdom. These
leaders worry about the possibility of losing their kingdom or their soldiers to other nobles who
were also concerned more with obtaining a higher position rather than governing. The king must
also be wary of his own life, something that was once revered and guarded closely by other nobles.

Raising a child is always a challenging and time consuming task, and raising a prince is even

from absolute corruption or even betrayal. Hal enjoys the company of an unruly thief, the
drunkard John Falstaff, as well as several other less respectable persons. Henry is more realistic and
rational than Richard, and he is able to see that his position is not a good one. He may fear that
he is a bad example for his son, for he too was a robber when he stole the throne. He fears that his
son will ruin his image as king or even assist in overthrowing him;
Why, Harry, do I tell thee of my foes, / Which are my nearest and dearest enemy? / Thou that art

within Rome was largely dependent in labour; both enslaved men and women were recruited

Enslaved Roman men and women were critical in symbolic terms of wealth for their masters,

Poverty In Third World Countries
The effects of poverty have been around for hundreds of years; as it is apparent within third
world countries like North Korea, Sudan, and Somalia. Third world countries are not the only
ones that are affected due to poverty first world countries like Australia, The United States of
America, and Canada also face poverty. The definition of poverty is very controversial as every
country has a different poverty line, due to the finical status of the country. The most commonly

which they cannot pay for necessities, such as food and shelter. Which could lead to those in
poverty becoming obese through having a heaving sugar based diet, buying packaged food, and

A Brief Note On The Law Of Copyright

December 15, 2015
Law of Copyright Technology today plays a huge role in all aspects of a modern day by day
society. As technology is used in all different fields, it is expected to continue improving over time
to make daily tasks an unchallenging experience to perform for the average person. It provides
security for creators, writers, artist, etc. from others benefiting from their work therefore providing
better confidence in creativity and boosting economic growth.
On April 10, 1710 the British Statute of Anne An Act for the Encouragement of Learning by
Vesting the Copies of Printed Books in the Authors or Purchasers of such Copies, during the Times
Therein Mentioned was the first copyright statue that took effect. In those times the Law of
Copyright only applied to the copying of books. In both England and United States this famous
statue remains the foundation of copyright law. As society changes, the Law has adapted for other
uses like translations and expressive creation that may include copyright protected elements. The
new modification to the law now covers a wide range of works. These rights protect the work of
books, manuscripts, plays, computer programs, works of art, maps, architectural plans, musical
scores, sound recordings, and films. Luckily over time copyright law has changed to benefit
creators of original works. While most people argue that these copyright laws protect the goods of

A Report On A Virtual Core Network
III. Proposed Applications
The NFV ISG lists various possible scenarios in which NFV may be used in the current network
infrastructure to help organizations reduce capital and operational expenditures and increase
revenue via VNF services. While in theory, every network element can be virtualized, the ISG has
identified specific devices based on feasibility in terms of cost and complexity of implementation.
Mobile Networks: Mobile networks today are dominated by proprietary hardware. Having physical
resource increases expenditure for the operators. Scaling of such resources may require
replacement of hardware. Implementing NFV means that the hardware resource pool can be
efficiently utilized based on demand. A virtualized mobile core network would also help minimize
the signaling traffic on the network by grouping certain network functions together [1]. This paper
will discuss more on a virtual Core network in section IV.
VNF as a Service (VNFaaS): Many Enterprises have an infrastructure network of their own. Such a
network puts added expenditure on enterprises to have a dedicated team of professionals to
maintain and service this network. Also having equipment on their premises increases capital costs
and operational costs such as energy. The ISG use cases [10] proposes to provide these enterprise
infrastructure equipment as a virtual service hosted at the operator end. From the enterprise
perspective it will be profitable for them to outsource this functionality and have

3. Using data collected from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, methods of
statistics showed that for the different states, there is a correlation between the number of registered
automatic weapons and the murder rate. Can we conclude that an increase in the number of
registered automatic weapons causes an increase in the murder rate? Can we reduce the murder rate
by reducing the number of registered automatic weapons?
No, the association between the two variables does not imply that one causes the other. No, a
decrease in registered weapons will not result in a reduced murder rate.

Hepatitis C Is An Inflammation Of The Liver Caused By A
Hepatitis C is an inflammation of the liver caused by a virus. It was discovered about twenty
eight years ago. The liver is very essential to life because it has many important functions in our
bodies. Hepatitis C is a blood borne virus. Hepatitis C is not a virus that you can visibly see unless
you run a blood test and discover it in the blood. Hepatitis Cis contagious but it is treatable and is
considered cured if the virus is no longer detectable in your blood. Considering that some of the
Hepatitis C symptoms are similar to other viral symptoms, the doctor has to diagnose the patient to
officially confirm the virus. Hepatitis C is easily spread and is most common in teenagers and
adults. The most common ways to spread Hepatitis C is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nwakamma stated, Routes of infection include organ transplantation, IV drug use, sexual
contact, exposure to blood, perinatal transmission or occupational exposure (Nwakamma).
Organ transplantation was one of the first ways scientists were able to determine the cause of
Hepatitis C. Another more common way Hepatitis C is still being spread is by IV drug use. If a
IV needle is contaminated with infected blood, that can cause the person using it to get hepatitis
C. When people are injecting drugs into their bodies using someone else s needle, they are
putting themselves at high risk to contract any infectious virus. Infectious viruses are not visible
on objects but they are visible once they enter in your bloodstream. The formation of the virus is
identified as a positive stranded RNA. Nwakamma makes a similar point about the description of
the virus by stating, The Hepatitis C virus is a small, enveloped, single stranded RNA virus of the
family Flaviviridae, and has a genome of approximately ten thousand nucleotides coding for
structural proteins (Nwakamma). Once the Hepatitis C virus binds to a cell surface receptor that
leads to viral entry into the host cell. Due to Flaviviridae being an RNA virus, it cannot replicate in
the nucleus. Patients whose condition with Hepatitis C becomes chronic often have a hard time
producing insulin. In accordance with the previous

How Does Don Giovanni Contribute To The Enlightenment
Don Giovanni is a one of a kind character, yet so predictable living a certain lifestyle, almost to the
point of being mysterious. It is the enlightenment era however, where a lot of impossibilities were
being explored, and presented to the public in different forms, including this opera, Don Giovanni.
Although Don Giovanniseems like a total embodiment of immorality, he nevertheless carries some
admirable principles, sparkling the enlightenment idea through the story of Don Giovanni.
As we all know, the Enlightenment is known as the era of reasoning. Many had started to realize
the power of rational and logical thinking. Don Giovanni is a great example for this type of
thinking. Although more probably accuse him rather than praise him of seducing so many
women, Giovanni has his own reasoning to it. (How can it be fair if I just marry one woman) ?
This is in fact capable of bearing careful thoughts. It would not be fair for Giovanni to stay with
one single woman, for thus not only would it be unfair to all the other women, but Giovanni would

The Importance of Trotsky, Lenin and Stalin to the...
Trotsky, Lenin and Stalin were all important in bringing the Communist Dictatorship in Russia from
1917 1939. All three of them wouldn t be able to make progresses without each other.
The basement or a trigger to communism in Russia was Lenin as he was the organizer. He has been
studying Marxism and Socialism for many years and in the result he has brought the October
Revolution in 1917 to Russia. In addition Lenin has written many books in order to spread the idea
of communism. As he was the organizer of this revolution and the person who led the Bolshevik
take over of Russia in 1917 he became the first leader of Russia in communist regime. Later on he

Trotsky even helped Lenin to create and maintain the Bolshevik dictatorship of Russia in 1917.
Opposition could take over and execute Lenin, if they won the Civil War. However Trotsky
prevented it, by organizing and forming huge Red Army in order to fight the whites to make
Lenin s dictatorship safe from overthrowing. There was a massive rising in Kronstadt, because
the sailors were unhappy with the lack of progress, the famine and the terror and they demanded
free speech and press, sale of peasant grain, free elections for soviets and free trade unions. Of
course this was impossible in Communist regime and consequently Trotsky used his Red Army
to destroy and crush rebels, because he was worried that dissent might spread when the ice
around the base thawed and let the sailors leave and again he made dictatorship safe.
Furthermore by believing in Permanent Revolution , Trotsky even helped Lenin to promote
communism around the world. Trotsky even recognized the economic crisis in 1920 and
suggested a change of policy to encourage businesses, but Lenin rejected it at first, however later
on Trotsky s idea was supported by Lenin and NEP was introduced. All the points above say that
Trotsky has played an important part in Lenin s life and his career. All in all it is clear to see that
Trotsky would not have been able to

  • 2. Comparing Way To Rainy Mountain And Being Country Essay 2Scott Momaday s The Way to Rainy Mountain and Bobbie Ann Mason s Being Country are two the texts to be compared. Though they share similarities, they too are quite different. They both share similar topics, in that they are two stories of cultures, but written from different perspectives of their cultures. Momaday is from the Kiowas tribe of the plains of Oklahoma, and Mason from a farm in Mayfield, Kentucky. Both exhibit some comparisons, but mostly contrasts throughout their writing. Momaday s American Indian heritage dates back to the 1880 s when his grandmother was born, where Mason s dairy farm heritage takes place starting when she was born in 1940. I found both to be stories of each of the author s lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Momaday shows contentment in his work. Mason, on the other hand, shows more resentment in hers. Bobby Ann Mason begins by describing the simplicity of how her family lives. She begins this writing from when she was eleven years old. Her mom and Granny were very dedicated farm women. They took care of all of the food, clothing and just about anything else needed for them to run a household. • 3. Star Formation Research Paper Stars Introduction Those stars in the night sky seem small and tiny, but up close they would be millions of times larger than the Earth. Stars are the most recognized astronomical objects and are the building blocks of the galaxies. These luminous spheres made of plasma are responsible for the creation of heavy elements like carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. They were among the first objects in the early universe. Most of the elements found in the human body originated in stars, this means that we are literally made of stardust. When you are staring at stars from the night sky, you are actually looking back in time, the light you see could be from a million years ago. The study of the birth, life and death of stars are the central field of astronomy today. Star Formations Stars do not form out of nowhere and just pop into appearance in space. There are two different outcomes of 2 black holes colliding. The first one is that if the 2 black holes are spinning at very high speeds and come together at just the right angle, the smaller black hole will be slingshotted away from the bigger black hole and sent hurtling through space. The second, more likely outcome is that they will slowly come closer and closer together until they can t escape each others gravity and eventually become one, when this happens the resulting black hole is known as a Binary Black Hole. Grandiose Narcissism Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan (2013) study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of narcissism. Dr. Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who took the Narcissistic Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the students scored above average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that narcissists lack empathy, overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are incapable of cheering anyone else s success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they cannot form and maintain healthy relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or the millenial generation has been well known for being the narcissistic generation. The term Narcissistic was coined from the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012) Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to this because of loving oneself too much like Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. As simple as this question may seem to be, there still, to this day, is not a definite answer. There are, mostly, two approaches to answering this problem, through dualismor physicalism. The dualist, for the purposes of this paper, simply believes that the mind and the body are not equal and therefore, they are not one in the same. Since we already know all the physical information about experiencing the color red, the physicalist would say that there would not be any new knowledge to obtained from this event, but instead, we just know the ability to see the color red now. But, in another section of Jackson s article, he refers back to the famous article What is it Like to Be a Bat?, written by the philosopher Thomas Nagel, to help strengthen his argument against physicalism. Jackson states how there is no amount of physical information that could possibly tell us what it is like to be anything other than a human being (Jackson 416 417). For instance, the dualist would say that I cannot possibly understand what it is like to actually be a dog. Even if I were able to obtain all the possible physical information there is about dogs, according to the dualist, I would still be missing the actual experience of being a dog. While there are many interpretations of what a miracle may be, the short story Miracle, by Tope Folarin, puts the concept in a distinct context. The story details the experience of a boy being a skeptical participant in a miracle in a Nigerian church. The story is multifaceted in that it addresses multiple power dynamics using various details, however, the main conflict is between the traditional beliefs of the older church members and the skepticism of the youth. Ultimately, Folarin argues that miraclesare not supernaturalevents that instantly change lives, rather they are circumstantial and are realized over time as a result of perseverance. To do so, Folarin uses literary devices such as characterization of the members of the church, situational irony, and setting. Miracle details the story of a boy being part of a miracle in a Nigerian church. He begins by describing certain rituals of the church, such as a prayer and performing Nigerian songs. Eventually, a short, blind old man described as a prophet reaches the pulpit. Most people at the church were Nigerian immigrants looking for miracles, and believed he could perform them. He promises the members of the church that they will receive powerful blessings so long as they are faithful (Folarin 75). Due to the assorted and occasionally conflicting opinions of what constitutes as fair , in concurrence with a relative shortage of donated organs, many social, legal and ethical contentions have arisen. This shortage is portrayed by statistics shown on the NHS organ donationpage, where approximately 10,000 people are on the waiting list for a solid organ transplantand approximately 1,000 people die annually whilst waiting for an organ transplant and in 2013, a record 4,655 patients received a solid organ transplant (National Health Service, 2014). Furthermore, it is important to observe the fact that the organ donor deficit is growing, even factoring in the 50 percent increase in live donations since 2008. This deficit can be attributed to the rate of increase in donated organs falling short of the greater increase in transplant requiring patients. This can be further illustrated statistically where the number of people requiring organs has increased from approximately 8,700 to approximately 10,000 between 2005 and 2013 (National Health Service, 2014). There are a myriad of contributing factors that can be held responsible for the rise in required organs, including the prevalence of diseases inflicted through lifestyle choices i.e. obesity and smoking, as well as improved medical science resulting in an aging population. (Venkata, 2009) 1.1 Origin and Distribution: Expansive soils are made up of clay particles that result from the alteration of parent materials. Alteration takes place by several processes: weathering, diagenesis, hydrothermal action, neo formation, and post depositional alteration. Most clay minerals are transported by air or water to areas of accumulation. Once deposited, the materials are subjected to the local conditions of accumulation (overburden) 1nd erosion which make up the geologic stress history of the materials. Thus, the existing clay soil at a site is the product of parent material, mode of alteration, and geologic history. Interaction between the soil and the local environment produces continual change in the soil and determines future behavior. Expansive soils are distributed all over the world. Usually the areas with the most severe problems are those with local climates that produce desiccation. Seventy seven samples are being collected and the same are used here for the analysis. Fuzzy Logic based Delay Prediction Models (FL DPM) are developed to predict the delay in construction of highways for different levels of control over the three categories of predictor variable i.e. Human Resource, Equipment and Material. The developed models are observed to predict the delay in projects satisfactorily as validated by the collected responses. Powell s 18 Leadership Principals During his distinguished military career, General Colin Powell exemplified what it means to be a great leader. In a briefing given to the Outreach To America Program, General Powell outlined 18 principals that all leaders should strive to encompass. After reviewing his brief, three of these principals stuck out Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off , The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them and Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier . These three principals resonate with my personal experiences in the military and in leadership. The first principal, Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off , is something that I struggled with early in my military career. I was eager to prove myself and accomplish missions assigned to me at any cost. As my career progressed and I had soldiers assigned to me, I realized that being a yes man is not always the responsible choice. • 26. Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in the marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go smoothly. However, certain men in the 19th centurybegan to degrade women. Making women feel worthless and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the domestic duties that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play Trifles, the play writer wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is wrong to assume something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play, written by Susan Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as equal. In the play, Hale stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The word trifles means something unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying that women worry over the small things in life, instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in the play, the women focusing over trifles is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to have an upper hand over the men. Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn from her mother s example that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected of her when she grew up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many different ways. It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable to any family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that the County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the sink instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful quick. Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying to take ... • 28. The, Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel Essay Intertextuality troubles the definition of autobiography in Alison Bechdel s Fun Home. Fun Home is a retelling of Alison Bechdel s life through the lens of her relationship with her father. However, because of what she considers to have been his suicide, Alison is left with an incomplete picture of who he was in life. By calling Fun Home an autobiography, Bechdel enters an autobiographical pact with the reader that ensures that what Bechdel is telling us is the truth. However, elements out of her control leave Bechdel unable to provide certain objective facts necessary to her narrative. As an attempt to remedy these absences and in turn maintain the validity of her story, Bechdel uses intertextuality to fill in the gaps of in her retelling. By overlaying masterplots of fictional narratives over her own, the reader is able to get at an understanding of the kind of person Alison s father was. In this way Bechdel is able to reveal things about her father that she can t prove to be true, but are reflective enough of his life to become true. Although only referred to as autobiography in paratext, Fun Home falls under the umbrella of narrative non fiction because it tells a true story. This gives great backing to her thesis of how the emerging working class so greatly affected the transformation of Argentina into a modern 20th century nation. Photos of the Argentinian people enjoying modern luxuries like dance halls and vacations to the beach, are accompanied by advertisements from magazines and street billboards which further illuminate the consumer culture which had engulfed the nation by mid century. Milanesio also employs images to illustrate how the importation of western culture also propagated gender roles for not only women, but men as well. Documents taken directly from Argentinian media of the day can be seen encouraging women to aspire for beauty, but also submissiveness. The propagation of the housewife myth, visible here in the Argentinian media, was a very prevalent force in the society of the United States at this time and can be assumed to have been heavily influenced by their neighbors to the north. Ads directed to women for sewing machines and kitchen appliances were mirrored by ones pointed to men which embedded ideals of masculinity and hard work.
