Act Sample Essays
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Act Sample Essays" can be a challenging endeavor that
demands a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter and a keen ability to synthesize
information effectively. The task involves not only delving into the nuances of the ACT essay
format but also requires a profound comprehension of the underlying concepts and themes that
are commonly covered in these essays.
One of the difficulties lies in deciphering the specific requirements and expectations set forth by
the ACT examiners. This includes grasping the nuances of the prompts, understanding the
scoring criteria, and aligning your essay with the standardized format. Moreover, the time
constraints during the actual exam can add an additional layer of complexity, demanding swift
and articulate responses within a limited timeframe.
Another challenge is the need for a nuanced and sophisticated grasp of the English language. A
successful ACT essay is not just about conveying information; it requires the adept use of
language, grammar, and syntax to articulate ideas with clarity and coherence. The ability to
construct well-reasoned arguments and support them with relevant examples is crucial, making
the essay a comprehensive showcase of both analytical and expressive skills.
Research skills are also pivotal in this task. A strong ACT essay often incorporates evidence and
examples that substantiate the author's claims. This necessitates a thorough understanding of a
wide range of topics that could potentially be covered in the prompts, from social issues to
scientific concepts.
In addition, maintaining a balance between conciseness and depth of analysis poses yet another
challenge. The word limit on the ACT essay necessitates a careful selection of ideas and a
focused approach to ensure that the response remains substantive within the given constraints.
For those finding these challenges daunting, seeking assistance from resources like

Athletic Trainer Research Paper
The students walked into the office that Friday afternoon looking confused. Many
asked Where s Cory at? I need Cory to wrap my ankle. Cory is our schools athletic
trainer. I started shadowing him my junior year. He has been my role model since
the first day I came in. My intentions that day were to simply ask him the essential
questions anyone has when looking for a major to pursue: what do you do on a
daily basis, college requirements, and the years of college education required, and do
you enjoy coming to work? He told me the best way to learn about athletic training
was to follow him. Now going into my senior year, I am his student helper and
starting my athletic training education early.
I am an athlete myself and knew I wanted to do something in the medical field. I was
always curious as to what exactly athletic trainers did, other than ice athletes. Cory
showed me so much within one year. He has opened my mind to see situations in
many different ways, and to also see how he does much more than just ice athletes.

I feel that I am like his coworker, I am taping ankles and icing students just as fast
and accurate as he does. Everyday I am faced with new students with new
situations. The duties I am responsible for while with Cory are to help all student
athletes who come for assistance. The students treat me with the same amount of
respect as they do when they are working with Cory. Working with him has also
allowed me to come out of my shell;, I am a very open and talkative person with the
students that come in. The football players no longer call me you or Cory s helper
they call me by my name because they know who I am. I have become very
independent and responsible from having this work experience with Cory. I feel

Essay On Cirrhosis
This paper is about the end stage liver disease, commonly known as cirrhosis.
Cirrhosis is a slow deterioration of the liver, where healthy tissue is replaced by scar
tissue, therefore inhibiting the proper flow of blood through the liver. It is highly
asymptomatic but susceptible in those with a history of heavy alcohol consumption,
drug use via IV, or hepatitis. Typically, cirrhosisis diagnosed after its complications
have already developed. There are over 3.9 million adults nationwide diagnosed with
chronic liverdisease according to the CDC/National Center for Health Statistics.
While there are many possible causes for developing cirrhosis, the most common are:
non alcoholic steatohepatitis, alcohol related liver disease and chronic hepatitis
Tucker And His Battle To Build The Car Of Tomorrow
Analysis
...and His Battle to Build the Car of Tomorrow. Preston Tucker may not be a name
familiar to people outside of the auto industry or the business world, unless you
happened to watch the 1988 movie, Tucker: The Man and His Dream. I never saw
the movie, but have been long familiar with the story. Or at least I thought I was.
That is until I read the book, Preston Tucker and His Battle to Build the Car of
Tomorrow, by Steve Lehto (Chicago Press Review; 260 pages; $27,99; ISBN: 978
1 61374 953 1). In effect, Lehto exposed the entire story, going well beyond the man
s aspirations to show how industry leaders, politicians, and regulators colluded to
destroy the company and perhaps the man who ran it. I must say that the author s
story was infuriating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The End of the Road After several years of wrangling with the opposition, Tucker
found himself without a company and with people launching civil suits against the
company and himself, including dealers who lost their investment. Though Tucker
prevailed, he was destitute, yet he maintained the dream of launching a new
company. At the same time, he was never himself and was soon diagnosed with
lung cancer, passing away at age 53 just eight years after launching the Tucker 48.
Shades of Musk and Tesla? There is much that can be gleaned by Letho s work,
which I think has an important place in chronicling Tucker history, even without the
foreword by Jay Leno. Some compare Tucker s rise and fall to Elon Musk, founder
of Tesla Motors. Although Musk is similarly imbued with entrepreneurialism, his
personal wealth and the very favorable government backing for his electric vehicle
initiative means comparisons between the two stop there. Indeed, although Musk s
long term success is still in doubt, at least he hasn t faced the same headwinds as
Tucker. And that s putting it all

adults build strong friendships and loving relationships and inferiority is the fear to
having relationships (Feldman, 2014). This stage last to about the age thirty and
Erikson believed that in this stage the individual gives up on their need to help
someone who is in needs more continue developing a serious relationship with their
future partner (Feldman, 2014). This is the last stage that will be discussed because
this it the stage Laurie is in right now. Laurie has developed strong long lasting

Scientific Method
Scientists are individuals who analyze how the world is viewed and how it came to
be. They perceive nature, physics, and social realms. They help flourish the world
into something great, they create the future, and discover Earth s hidden secrets.
There are many categories of science, each category has extensive scientific
knowledge, and the use of the scientific method. Scientists have been changing the
world since the beginning of history.
There s a wide range of different types of scientists, from studying rocks to examining
the earth s atmosphere. Each one of these scientists have certain names that have to
deal with what they study. A geologist is one who studies rocks and the development
of earth. (http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/careers.html) ... Show more

Difference Between Vegetarianism And Vegetarianism
Vegetarian vs Meat eater Humans need substance to survive. Every single person has
a choice in the type of diet they consume each day. Certain lifestyles, such as
vegetarianism or a meat based diet, can affect a variety of issues that are common in
today s society. Both vegetarians and meat eaters make conscious efforts when eating
which affects animal agriculture, the environment, their health, and the economy.
Studies with staggering statistics have shown how much of a negative impact
producing meatfor consumption is having on this planet. It takes more than 2,400
gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef, while producing 1 pound of tofu only
requires 244 gallons of water (PETA). Factory farms create manure which produces
runoff and is one of the leading causes for the pollution in rivers and lakes. This
also poses an issue for the air that people are breathing. Studies have shown that
[animal waste] lagoons emit toxic airborne chemicals that can cause inflammatory,
immune, irritation and neurochemical problems in humans (Foer). Another issue is
the land that is being wasted. Threats like deforestation become a reality when
crops are being used to feed animals and not humans directly. Only 4 million acres
are being used to grow plants that go directly to humans, while 56 million acres are
being used to grow feed for animals, and this is in the United States alone (PETA).

Last Day Of High School
The last day of my Early College High School (ECHS) 2017 year, was a day I will
never forget. On the last day of school, I got to drive my dad s truck; I remember
telling myself I can t wait until I get my own car, which is something I asked for
on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes ready to get my last final over
with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then we
had clubs. Since my club was not allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the
Medical club. In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different
Affordable Care Acts (ACA) proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready
for the break even more.
At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so
many plans. I made plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint park, and travel
to Louisiana to celebrate my niece s first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined.
For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and
strep throat, I thought my Christmas break would be ruined, but it wasn t. During the
time that I was sick, I got to plan which Christmas gifts to get my family members
instead of waiting until the last moment, and everyone winded up loving their gifts.
Due to the fact of me being sick, I couldn t go anywhere; which meant no chores, no
being told to get out the house; I actually had time to relax. While relaxing I caught
on my Netflix shows and my sleep.

The Morality Behind Driving Essay Essay
The Morality Behind Driving
In the past several years, technology has become so ubiquitous that it can now be
found in parts of our lives that we once believed it would, and could, never play a
part in. While the growing presence of technology in our day to day lives suggests a
high compatibility, in certain instances, our lives, specifically our ideologies and
moral beliefs, seem to conflict with technology. The development of the autonomous
car and the ethical and moral dilemmas that can arise from this technology s use,
perfectly exonerate the incompatibility between our current moral and ethical beliefs
and technological innovations. While our present view of morality may conflict with
certain aspects of this technology, all in all, this struggle is desirable as it forces our
society and community to think as a collective, solving the problem now in order to
work towards the betterment of the human race.
In the past several years, companies like Google and Tesla have been working
towards the self driving, autonomous vehicle. Many project that in a mere four years,
most major automotive companies will have developed successful driverless
technology (Access Science Editors). The implementation of this technology clearly
has many benefits but, we cannot mistakenly believe that improvement means
perfection. Technology is a process and with each improvement, more and more
people will be drawn in making this technology more ubiquitous. Each step gives rise
to another, but
The Importance Of Emotional Strengths In The Voyage Of
The...
It takes mental and emotional strength to survive because you ll be able to overcome
your obstacles. The crew members in the story The Voyage of the James Caird by
Caroline Alexander demonstrated excellent mental strength. Emotional strength is
another huge factor that is needed for survival. The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
documented the struggles of a religious boy who is forced to use emotional strength
to go against his morals. The main character, Pi, was forced to killa fish even though
his religion deemed it immoral to kill animals. Other people like the Sherpas have
strong emotional strength by thinking of their families. The struggles of Sherpas in
Mt. Everest is described in The Value of a SherpaLife by Grayson Schaffer. Having a
weak emotional strength has its consequences. In the story The Seventh Man by
Haruki Murakami, the 7th Man lives a miserable life because he couldn t overcome
the guilt he felt for the death of his close friend. In the story The Voyage of the James
Caird the entire crew demonstrated mental strength throughout the entire journey.
Despite the harsh conditions, they did everything that they could do to survive.
When the crew realized that their boat was sinking, they realized that, Immediate
action had to be taken. While the wind howled and the sea shattered over them, the
men took turns crawling across the precariously glassy deck to chip away the ice

Farm Subsidies Essay
Agricultural subsidies is a very complex and controversial economic topic today. It
will continue to be a hot topic as government continues it. It is largely debated in the
United States as well as in other countries. The reason it is so largely debated is
because it literally have an effect on the entire world market. Not to mention that the
farmhas been booming the last 5 to 10 years. This topic also tends to draw strong
opinions in our area in particular due to the large agricultural community in our
region. However, even within different states there are many supporters as well as
opponents to these government subsidies. To really begin to understand this complex
topic a person really needs to understand the basics of... Show more content on

In 2002 wheat was $3.80 a bushel so farmer s received $.06 for the difference in the
guaranteed price and $.52 for every bushel of wheat they sold ( Farm bill resources,
2008 ). The idea behind the government subsidizing of agriculture is a good idea in
theory. However, it is controversial because there are many people who oppose this
policy for different reasons. There are many reasons why it is controversial but
there are a few in particular that cause the most debate. One reason that people do
not support the subsidizing is because of the sheer cost. In 2009, the U.S.
government paid over 12 billion dollars to the agricultural sector (Vogel, 2001).
When you consider that fact that the payments are being made with taxpayer
dollars it explains why some people immediately oppose it. There have been past
years where the government has actually paid double that. These payments do
consume a fair portion of our governments budget. Although it is not a confirmed
fact, a Canadian report said that for every dollar earned by a U.S. farmer, 62 cents
comes from some form of government payment (Wikipedia). Basically some people
view this as nothing more than transferring income from the general tax payers to
farm owners. In fact, farm subsidies is actually the United States largest corporate
welfare program. People also blame these subsidies for increasing poverty in some

The Global Energy Crisis Is A Growing Concern Today s
Day...
The global energy crisis is a growing concern in today s day and age. Some think we
should talk about it more, others think we should be more concerned about other
issues, but one thing is certain we are not doing enough to compensate for the
damage we are causing.
One by one, governments around the world are beginning to embrace the miracle
that is nuclear energy. Fear is ingrained into the mind of the public when it comes to
radioactivity, but many of these people still believe that radioactive waste is some
sort of neon green glow in the dark liquid. The small number of people opposed to
nuclear power are quite obviously not avid readers. Luckily these misconceptions are
beginning to disappear as we realise the dire situation we are facing, and the
underutilised resource we have sitting on our front doorsteps.
The Earth saw an unprecedented rise in the population after electricity began to be
widely used and conditions for humanity improved. This meant that as time
progressed, we had to find better and more effective solutions to a growing problem;
how do we supply billions of people with electricity without harming our
environment?
The answer, of course, was found years ago. Hidden in these two small words was
the solution scientists had devoted their lives to finding nuclear energy. The only
problem was that the flaws in this plan were all too visible, and terrifying. After
disastrous accidents, such as Fukushima and Chernobyl, scientists have nearly
perfected
MIMO Wireless Channel and How to Determine Its

If I have seen farther, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. is very truly

wireless communication 100 years ago, we had no idea that one day life will seem to
be impossible without it. It has penetrated each and every aspect of human life and
has resulted into endless demands on bandwidth and spectrum. And by standing on
the shoulders of giants, Teletarand Foschinigave the technique of MIMOsystem which
would increase the spectral efficiency of the wireless system to its maximum

SIMO
Fig1: Different antenna configurations in space time systems.
Now we know that MIMO is an array, so we need to be some terms related to antenna
array, which is Array gain, the average increase in the signal to noise ratio (SNR) at
the receiverthat arises from the coherent combining effect of multiple antennas at the
receiveror transmitter or both.If the channel is known to the multiple antenna
transmitter,
The transmitter will weigh the transmission with weights, depending on the
channelcoefficients, so that there is coherent combining at the single antenna
receiver. The array gain in this case is called transmitter array gain. And vice versa
for SIMO case, which will be known as receiver Array Gain. Basically, multiple
antenna systems require perfectchannel knowledge either at the transmitter or
receiver or both to achieve thisarray gain. Next important term is Diversity Gain.
Multipath fading is a significant problem in communications. In a fading
channel, signals experience fades. When the signalpower drops significantly, the
channel is said to be in a fade. This gives rise tohigh bit error rates (BER).This
involvesproviding replicas of the transmitted signal over time, frequency, or space.
Thereare three types of diversity schemes in wireless communications:
I .Temporal diversity: In this case replicas of the transmitted signal are provided
across time by a combination of channel coding and time interleaving strategies.

A Short Note On A Functional Laryngeal Disorder
Case Study #1
A functional laryngeal disorder is one that does not have a known physical cause.
Functional laryngeal disorders are recognized as the misuse of the laryngeal
apparatus or the larynx being used in an abusive manner. One type of a functional
laryngeal disorder is a vocal fold polyp. A vocal fold polyp is a singular occurrence
on one vocal cord or both. A polyp is a growth which resembles a blister like bump.
In addition, a hemorrhage is a blood vessel that ruptures which causes a collection
of blood within the layers of the vocal cord, this can be seen as a bruise on the vocal
cord. Adele has suffered from a vocal fold polyp with hemorrhage.
There is no known specific cause for the development of polyps, but there are
several risk factors. The two most common factors that contribute to a polyp s
formation are vocal abuse and misuse; they can also form from one simple traumatic
event. Polyps can develop from allergies, singing, yelling, chronic coughing, talking
loudly, inhaling irritating substances, and long term smoking or drinking. For
example, the vocal folds vibrate at an immense rate where they then come in
contact with each other causing stress on the vocal folds. Speaking, yelling or
singing for a prolonged period can cause them to swell. If you do not rest and
continue to use your voice the swelling can turn into a polyp, this is an example of
vocal abuse. Vocal fold polyps are known to be benign meaning they are noncancerous
and noncontagious. In

The premature approach is broken down into three type of prevention the first is
primary prevention. Primary prevention is to lower the risk of onset of disease for
examples through the use of immunisation and also encouraging non smoking to
stop. The second type is secondary prevention, within this stage the aim is
preventing progression of disease for example smear screening. The final stage is
tertiary prevention, the aim is to reduce further disability and suffering in those
individuals already ill for example rehabilitation, patient education and palliative
care. However requirements are needed for the preventive approach one of these are
that preventive procedures have to be based on a rationale derived from
epidemiological evidence. A positive aspect of this approach is the prevention and
early detection of disease is more cost efficient than the money used for the treatment

freedom seeking woman who neglects her children since she is intended by nature
to take care of them (Dyer 126). She is uneven and impulsive in her affections for
her children. When they leave to visit their grandmother, she is relieved because
she is not suited to the responsibilities of motherhood. Edna s mind was at rest
concerning the present material needs of her children: In short, Mrs. Pontellier was
not a mother woman...It was easy to know them, fluttering about with extended,
protecting wings when any harm, real or imaginary, threatened their precious
brood. They were women who idolized their children, worshiped their husbands,
and esteemed it a holy privilege to efface themselves as individuals and grow
wings as ministering angels (Chopin 6). The mother woman role is an image that
summarizes this idea of decorum. It is a behavioral code which bases a woman s
identity on her capacity to bear children, look after them and worship the patriarch; it
is a role based on the effacement and the extrication of each female individuality for
the sake of the mother woman raiment. Adele Ratignolle is the premium example of
the mother woman. She embodies all the womanly charms of romantic heroines. In
seven years, she has had three children and is planning on a fourth. Adele, represents

The Pros And Cons Of The Vegetarian Diet
Vegetarian Nutrients
Few factors are as important to human health than one s diet. A poor diet can have
devastating effects to one s health and well being. For this reason, there are some
key components the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, along with the
Department of Agriculture, suggest be part of one s eating pattern. These key
components include a variety of vegetables, fruits, grains, fat free or low fat dairy or
soy, a variety of protein foods, and oils. They also suggest limiting intakes of
saturated fats, trans fats, added sugars, and sodium. Overall, the 2015 2020 Dietary
Guidelines suggest that it is not necessarily about each and every individual food or
beverage item that is consumed, but how that plays into an entire eating pattern and
how everyone can make small shifts within their eating pattern to maintain a healthier
life and decrease chances of developing a chronic disease. With all of these factors in
mind, a diet that claims to be healthier, better for the environment, and help lower
chances of disease is the vegetarian diet. There are many arguments for and against
vegetarianism however, some of which are contrasting views of the same point.
benefits. Because diet is such a key component of human health and wellness, for
anyone considering the vegetarian diet, it is important to analyze these contrasting
arguments. Beginning with nutrition, can all essential nutrients be acquired with a

The Mexican American War And Foreign Soil
Today, we are going to talk about the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on
foreign soil; The Mexican American War (1846 1848). Motivated by the U.S.
President James K. Polk, who believed the United States had a manifest destiny to
spread across the continent to the Pacific Ocean, he pitted a politically divided and
militarily unprepared Mexico. A border skirmish along the Rio Grandestarted off the
fighting and was followed by a series of U.S. victories. At the end of the war,
Mexico had lost about one third of its territory.
Let s go back to those events in details. First of all: What caused the Mexican
American War to begin?
The Mexican American War was mainly driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny ;
the belief that the U.S had a God given right to occupy and civilize the whole
continent. As increasingly large number of Americans migrated towards the west in
search of land, the fact that most of those areas already had people living in them
was ignored. Instead, an attitude and belief that democratic English speaking America
would do a better job of running the lands than the Native Americans or Spanish
speaking Catholic Mexicans prevailed. President Polk shared and led the vision of
Manifest Destiny, and did offer to buy much of the southwest land from Mexico.
However the Mexican government refused the offer, and an unyeilding desire to
populate those southwestern lands caused tensions to continue to rise.
The second major cause of the Mexican American War

What Is Kampog Glam Essay
Introduction of Kampong Glam
On 7 July 1989, the historic district of Kampong Glam was officiated as a
conservation area in Singapore.
Decades ago, Kampong Glam housed people from the Malay Peninsula, Java,
Sumatra, Celebes Islands, Riau and Southern Arabia which are mainly Muslim
immigrants and are positioned based largely on their prominence, social and
economic status. As time passes, Indian and Chinese immigrants began to reside in
the same area, making it a multiethnic community.
The Kampong Glam trail that I embarked on includes 12 main destinations, namely
the Malay Heritage Centre, Gedung Kuning, Masjid Sultan, Bussorah Street, Former
Chung Cheng School and Chong Pun Girls School, Madrasah Alsagoff Al Arabiah,
Madrasah Aljunied Al Islamiah, Malabar Muslim Jama ath Mosque, St John

Blood And Inheritance Patterns
Humans can only have one of the following four types of blood: A, B, AB, or O. A
and B are codominant alleles, and O is a recessive allele. The type of blood a
person inherits depends on the blood type of their parents. Humans get one allele
from their mom and one allele from their dad. The presence or absence of certain
types of antibodies and antigens determines the different blood types. People have
different types and combinations of antibodies and antigens. The goal of this
investigation was to test different blood samples to figure out which father each of
the three children belonged to. To do this, the group had to figure out the possible
genotypes the children could of inherited from the possible pairs of parents. Using
this knowledge, conclusions had to be made relating to who the father was of each of
the children, either Mr. Johnson or Mr. Wilson. The... Show more content on

background information because in order to answer it, the group had to use all of

was vital to follow all safety instructions. The procedures used during the
experiment are as follows. First, two drops of Child 1 s blood sample was added
to well A and well B of a blood typing slide. Then, the group stirred in the Anti A
serum with the sample in well A for ten seconds with a clean toothpick. Also, the
Anti B serum was stirred in, using a clean toothpick, with the blood sample in well

determine what type of blood the sample contained. The key factor was to watch to
see whether or not the blood clumped together (aggulation).

Cost Control in Health Maintenance Organizations Essay
An HMO is an organized health care delivery system, which provides health care to
its members through networks of doctors and hospitals. Rather than traditional health
plans, HMO s cost less. Two ways HMO s control costs are: controlling hospital
admission and length of stay, and by providing incentives to physicians. These two
cost control methods are further examined by an article published by The National
Bureau of Economic Research (2002). The article examines the incentives to
physician strategy for reducing utilization cost. The Physician Guide to Managed Care
(1994) describes HMOs the case management procedures used to control cost through

Bonus levels are determined on the basis of performance, as performance improves
the bonuses gradually become higher. HMO s rely on rates and member satisfaction
survey results to measure provider performance. By keeping a certain level of
member satisfaction, more revenue can be brought in through new enrollees.
Financial incentives are generally more influential when it comes to physicians
improving quality of care. According to the National Research Council (2001),
research regarding payment and quality improvement efforts of health care
administrators was presented at an Institute of Medicine Workshop in April of 2004.
The research showed ,with the use of physician incentives the total direct savings in
health care cost which include reduce visits and hospital episodes was an estimated
net savings of about 2,000 per patient. For more than 13,000 diabetic patients
managed by a physician group it was projected that the savings had the potential to
generate over $10 million in net saving per year. Aligning financial incentives with
physician s networks provides the achievement of better patient outcomes, but
generally provides the HMO cost control over their equity.
HMO s utilize the process of controlling hospital admission and length of stay as
another form of cost control. According to Nash (1994), in order to minimize
hospital length of stay, the HMO arranges in advance for care to

Mr. Hyde follows the plight of Dr. Jekyll, giving insight to human desires that are
typically repressed within a civilized society. People strive to fit into the society
around them. In doing this they often suppress some aspects of their desires. After
giving into desire once, the need for it may increase, and control may slowly
decrease. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde explores the multi faceted
dimensions of the human psyche. There is a constant battle raging within every
person between morality and desire. Very often the more one attempts to suppress
natural urges the stronger and more profound they become. Each man has their
own desires that they wish to fulfill and all men hope that they have a way to
explore those desires without any repercussions. There is no better example of this
than the devolution of Dr. Jekyll throughout the book. Originally before Jekyll
creates the potion that separates the good and evil parts of his psyche, he is an
upstanding pillar of his community. Jekyll desires to better himself and to do so he
makes a potion that may separate the evil in him from the good and thus Hyde is
born. Jekyll also sees Hyde as an opportunity to be able to live out all of his desires
and pleasures without consequences to himself. In his letter to Utterson Jekyll

What Does The Pink Ribbon Symbolize In Young Goodman

Goodman Brown is a short epic story about a young innocent man who, lives in
Salem Village with his lover Faith. He leaves his lover Faith to go on a day journey.
He promises to return back in one day, but he comes across a path in which his faith

Pink ribbon is a word that was repeated throughout the story a lot; The pink ribbons

The Effect Of Enzymes On The Concentration Of A Protein
Enzymes are catalysts that speed up chemical reactions without being used up in the
process (Leady). A catalyst helps speed up a chemical reaction without being
changed during the reaction. Enzymes are specific meaning that they can work with
only a specific set of chemical reactions. Most enzyme names end in ase. The shape
of a protein is very important in its function for the reaction. The molecule the enzyme
works on is called a substrate. In order for this enzyme to work on this reaction the
substrate must first fit into an activation site. When an enzyme binds to its substrate,
it is called an enzyme substrate complex. The resulting chemicals from the reaction
are called the products. Enzymes can be affected by a few variables such as pHand
temperature. All enzymes work best at a specific temperature in the reaction to work.
About an average human, enzymes work greatly at 98.6 Fahrenheit or 37.5 Celsius
(Effect). The lower the temperatures are the slower the enzyme works. At low
temperatures, the enzyme does not work as well because there is not enough
movement between the molecules to have the substrate, and the enzyme meets and
binds together. The higher temperatures can cause a denature of an enzyme. This
means that enzyme shape is changing making the enzyme inactive. The reason is that
enzymes are proteins that are made up of amino acids and at high temperatures the
hydrogen bonds break which then uncoils the protein and stops its function
(Enzymes). In
The Anzac Legacy Of The Australian World War
Last year, on the 25th of April was the centenary of the Gallipoli landing. Which,
according to the Australian Defence force website, was to be for Australians, one of
the most significant commemorations to take place during their lifetime. With the
centenary looming in the backs of the minds of the Australian people, it is
unsurprising that great pains have been taken to construct a three year long
celebration that would encompass a number of historical milestones on Australias
involvement in conflicts , such as both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam.
Yet, the amount of emphasis that is placed on the Anzac legend could be argued to
be incorrectly placed and channelled by certain groups for their own gain. This essay
will argue that the Anzac legacy of the Australians being the perfect soldier is highly
embellished and are no more remarkable than any other soldier. Furthermore the
importance and Australia s involvement in the First World War has been grossly
inflated. Additionally, this will analyse claims made by historians and other
academics about how the Anzac legend has changed overtime, and Australia s
involvement in wars.
In order to understand why the Anzac legend became so prominent, an understanding
of Australia s reasons for entering the First World War must be understood. Firstly, it
was the first major war Australia would participate in as a state in its own right, less
than two decades after Australian became a federation in 1901. According to Stanley,
The Test Scores Should Not Be Developed By Ease And
Quiet
Helen Keller once said , the character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only
through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition
inspired, and success achieved. Standardized test scores shouldn t determine whether
or not a school should close or not.The problems could be students might not make
the effort, teachers might not have the resources to teach students, personal problems
might stop students from succeeding, or the school, in general, might need guidance
academically. Additionally, students might not be fantastic testtakers in general. The
test scores show school improvements, students can t be forced to increase scores.
However, some think consistently low scores mean it s time to close schools. For
example, school boards, state officials, and the State Department of Educationmight
take scores under consideration. There is no guarantee that score averages will
increase as a whole. There are several types of students and some just are careless,
don t take school seriously, or don t bother to attend school to receive the knowledge
that s needed. Students might be careless by not studying, not being prepared, or not
paying attention . Nevertheless, students might not take school serious because his or
her family members might no push education. This would give the student a reason
not to come to school to receive the lesson to succeed. Some schools suffer the lack
of funds, or they might need help with writing grants to

  • 1. Act Sample Essays Crafting an essay on the topic of "Act Sample Essays" can be a challenging endeavor that demands a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter and a keen ability to synthesize information effectively. The task involves not only delving into the nuances of the ACT essay format but also requires a profound comprehension of the underlying concepts and themes that are commonly covered in these essays. One of the difficulties lies in deciphering the specific requirements and expectations set forth by the ACT examiners. This includes grasping the nuances of the prompts, understanding the scoring criteria, and aligning your essay with the standardized format. Moreover, the time constraints during the actual exam can add an additional layer of complexity, demanding swift and articulate responses within a limited timeframe. Another challenge is the need for a nuanced and sophisticated grasp of the English language. A successful ACT essay is not just about conveying information; it requires the adept use of language, grammar, and syntax to articulate ideas with clarity and coherence. The ability to construct well-reasoned arguments and support them with relevant examples is crucial, making the essay a comprehensive showcase of both analytical and expressive skills. Research skills are also pivotal in this task. A strong ACT essay often incorporates evidence and examples that substantiate the author's claims. This necessitates a thorough understanding of a wide range of topics that could potentially be covered in the prompts, from social issues to scientific concepts. In addition, maintaining a balance between conciseness and depth of analysis poses yet another challenge. • 3. Athletic Trainer Research Paper The students walked into the office that Friday afternoon looking confused. Many asked Where s Cory at? I need Cory to wrap my ankle. Cory is our schools athletic trainer. I started shadowing him my junior year. He has been my role model since the first day I came in. My intentions that day were to simply ask him the essential questions anyone has when looking for a major to pursue: what do you do on a daily basis, college requirements, and the years of college education required, and do you enjoy coming to work? He told me the best way to learn about athletic training was to follow him. Now going into my senior year, I am his student helper and starting my athletic training education early. I am an athlete myself and knew I wanted to do something in the medical field. I was always curious as to what exactly athletic trainers did, other than ice athletes. Cory showed me so much within one year. He has opened my mind to see situations in many different ways, and to also see how he does much more than just ice athletes. When an athlete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel that I am like his coworker, I am taping ankles and icing students just as fast and accurate as he does. Everyday I am faced with new students with new situations. The duties I am responsible for while with Cory are to help all student athletes who come for assistance. The students treat me with the same amount of respect as they do when they are working with Cory. Working with him has also allowed me to come out of my shell;, I am a very open and talkative person with the students that come in. The football players no longer call me you or Cory s helper they call me by my name because they know who I am. I have become very independent and responsible from having this work experience with Cory. I feel more than prepared to be able to go into my freshman year of college and excel in my athletic training

Typically, cirrhosisis diagnosed after its complications have already developed. There are over 3.9 million adults nationwide diagnosed with chronic liverdisease according to the CDC/National Center for Health Statistics. • 5. Tucker And His Battle To Build The Car Of Tomorrow Analysis ...and His Battle to Build the Car of Tomorrow. Preston Tucker may not be a name familiar to people outside of the auto industry or the business world, unless you happened to watch the 1988 movie, Tucker: The Man and His Dream. I never saw the movie, but have been long familiar with the story. Or at least I thought I was. That is until I read the book, Preston Tucker and His Battle to Build the Car of Tomorrow, by Steve Lehto (Chicago Press Review; 260 pages; $27,99; ISBN: 978 1 61374 953 1). In effect, Lehto exposed the entire story, going well beyond the man s aspirations to show how industry leaders, politicians, and regulators colluded to destroy the company and perhaps the man who ran it. I must say that the author s story was infuriating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The End of the Road After several years of wrangling with the opposition, Tucker found himself without a company and with people launching civil suits against the company and himself, including dealers who lost their investment. Though Tucker prevailed, he was destitute, yet he maintained the dream of launching a new company. At the same time, he was never himself and was soon diagnosed with lung cancer, passing away at age 53 just eight years after launching the Tucker 48. Shades of Musk and Tesla? There is much that can be gleaned by Letho s work, which I think has an important place in chronicling Tucker history, even without the foreword by Jay Leno. Some compare Tucker s rise and fall to Elon Musk, founder of Tesla Motors. Although Musk is similarly imbued with entrepreneurialism, his personal wealth and the very favorable government backing for his electric vehicle initiative means comparisons between the two stop there. Indeed, although Musk s long term success is still in doubt, at least he hasn t faced the same headwinds as Tucker. And that s putting it all

  • 8. Difference Between Vegetarianism And Vegetarianism Vegetarian vs Meat eater Humans need substance to survive. Every single person has a choice in the type of diet they consume each day. Certain lifestyles, such as vegetarianism or a meat based diet, can affect a variety of issues that are common in today s society. Both vegetarians and meat eaters make conscious efforts when eating which affects animal agriculture, the environment, their health, and the economy. Studies with staggering statistics have shown how much of a negative impact producing meatfor consumption is having on this planet. It takes more than 2,400 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef, while producing 1 pound of tofu only requires 244 gallons of water (PETA). Factory farms create manure which produces runoff and is one of the leading causes for the pollution in rivers and lakes. This also poses an issue for the air that people are breathing. Studies have shown that [animal waste] lagoons emit toxic airborne chemicals that can cause inflammatory, immune, irritation and neurochemical problems in humans (Foer). Another issue is the land that is being wasted. Threats like deforestation become a reality when crops are being used to feed animals and not humans directly. Only 4 million acres are being used to grow plants that go directly to humans, while 56 million acres are being used to grow feed for animals, and this is in the United States alone (PETA). Vegetarianismis an option that promotes better health and a positive environment for
  • 9. Last Day Of High School The last day of my Early College High School (ECHS) 2017 year, was a day I will never forget. On the last day of school, I got to drive my dad s truck; I remember telling myself I can t wait until I get my own car, which is something I asked for on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes ready to get my last final over with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then we had clubs. Since my club was not allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the Medical club. In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different Affordable Care Acts (ACA) proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready for the break even more. At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so many plans. I made plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint park, and travel to Louisiana to celebrate my niece s first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined. For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and strep throat, I thought my Christmas break would be ruined, but it wasn t. During the time that I was sick, I got to plan which Christmas gifts to get my family members instead of waiting until the last moment, and everyone winded up loving their gifts. Due to the fact of me being sick, I couldn t go anywhere; which meant no chores, no being told to get out the house; I actually had time to relax. While relaxing I caught on my Netflix shows and my sleep. The week before
  • 10. The Morality Behind Driving Essay Essay The Morality Behind Driving In the past several years, technology has become so ubiquitous that it can now be found in parts of our lives that we once believed it would, and could, never play a part in. While the growing presence of technology in our day to day lives suggests a high compatibility, in certain instances, our lives, specifically our ideologies and moral beliefs, seem to conflict with technology. The development of the autonomous car and the ethical and moral dilemmas that can arise from this technology s use, perfectly exonerate the incompatibility between our current moral and ethical beliefs and technological innovations. While our present view of morality may conflict with certain aspects of this technology, all in all, this struggle is desirable as it forces our society and community to think as a collective, solving the problem now in order to work towards the betterment of the human race. In the past several years, companies like Google and Tesla have been working towards the self driving, autonomous vehicle. Many project that in a mere four years, most major automotive companies will have developed successful driverless technology (Access Science Editors). The idea behind the government subsidizing of agriculture is a good idea in theory. However, it is controversial because there are many people who oppose this policy for different reasons. There are many reasons why it is controversial but there are a few in particular that cause the most debate. One reason that people do not support the subsidizing is because of the sheer cost. In 2009, the U.S. government paid over 12 billion dollars to the agricultural sector (Vogel, 2001). When you consider that fact that the payments are being made with taxpayer dollars it explains why some people immediately oppose it. There have been past years where the government has actually paid double that. These payments do consume a fair portion of our governments budget. Although it is not a confirmed fact, a Canadian report said that for every dollar earned by a U.S. farmer, 62 cents comes from some form of government payment (Wikipedia). Basically some people view this as nothing more than transferring income from the general tax payers to farm owners. In fact, farm subsidies is actually the United States largest corporate welfare program. People also blame these subsidies for increasing poverty in some

Some think we should talk about it more, others think we should be more concerned about other issues, but one thing is certain we are not doing enough to compensate for the damage we are causing. One by one, governments around the world are beginning to embrace the miracle that is nuclear energy. Fear is ingrained into the mind of the public when it comes to radioactivity, but many of these people still believe that radioactive waste is some sort of neon green glow in the dark liquid. The small number of people opposed to nuclear power are quite obviously not avid readers. Luckily these misconceptions are beginning to disappear as we realise the dire situation we are facing, and the underutilised resource we have sitting on our front doorsteps. The Earth saw an unprecedented rise in the population after electricity began to be widely used and conditions for humanity improved. This meant that as time progressed, we had to find better and more effective solutions to a growing problem; how do we supply billions of people with electricity without harming our environment? The answer, of course, was found years ago. Hidden in these two small words was the solution scientists had devoted their lives to finding nuclear energy. The only problem was that the flaws in this plan were all too visible, and terrifying. After disastrous accidents, such as Fukushima and Chernobyl, scientists have nearly perfected

SIMO Fig1: Different antenna configurations in space time systems. Now we know that MIMO is an array, so we need to be some terms related to antenna array, which is Array gain, the average increase in the signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the receiverthat arises from the coherent combining effect of multiple antennas at the receiveror transmitter or both.If the channel is known to the multiple antenna transmitter, The transmitter will weigh the transmission with weights, depending on the channelcoefficients, so that there is coherent combining at the single antenna receiver. The array gain in this case is called transmitter array gain. And vice versa for SIMO case, which will be known as receiver Array Gain. Basically, multiple antenna systems require perfectchannel knowledge either at the transmitter or receiver or both to achieve thisarray gain. Next important term is Diversity Gain. Multipath fading is a significant problem in communications. In a fading channel, signals experience fades. When the signalpower drops significantly, the channel is said to be in a fade. This gives rise tohigh bit error rates (BER).This involvesproviding replicas of the transmitted signal over time, frequency, or space. Thereare three types of diversity schemes in wireless communications: I .Temporal diversity: In this case replicas of the transmitted signal are provided across time by a combination of channel coding and time interleaving strategies.

Functional laryngeal disorders are recognized as the misuse of the laryngeal apparatus or the larynx being used in an abusive manner. One type of a functional laryngeal disorder is a vocal fold polyp. A vocal fold polyp is a singular occurrence on one vocal cord or both. A polyp is a growth which resembles a blister like bump. In addition, a hemorrhage is a blood vessel that ruptures which causes a collection of blood within the layers of the vocal cord, this can be seen as a bruise on the vocal cord. Adele has suffered from a vocal fold polyp with hemorrhage. There is no known specific cause for the development of polyps, but there are several risk factors. The two most common factors that contribute to a polyp s formation are vocal abuse and misuse; they can also form from one simple traumatic event. Polyps can develop from allergies, singing, yelling, chronic coughing, talking loudly, inhaling irritating substances, and long term smoking or drinking. For example, the vocal folds vibrate at an immense rate where they then come in contact with each other causing stress on the vocal folds. Speaking, yelling or singing for a prolonged period can cause them to swell. If you do not rest and continue to use your voice the swelling can turn into a polyp, this is an example of vocal abuse. Vocal fold polyps are known to be benign meaning they are noncancerous and noncontagious. In

She is uneven and impulsive in her affections for her children. When they leave to visit their grandmother, she is relieved because she is not suited to the responsibilities of motherhood. Edna s mind was at rest concerning the present material needs of her children: In short, Mrs. Pontellier was not a mother woman...It was easy to know them, fluttering about with extended, protecting wings when any harm, real or imaginary, threatened their precious brood. They were women who idolized their children, worshiped their husbands, and esteemed it a holy privilege to efface themselves as individuals and grow wings as ministering angels (Chopin 6). The mother woman role is an image that summarizes this idea of decorum. It is a behavioral code which bases a woman s identity on her capacity to bear children, look after them and worship the patriarch; it is a role based on the effacement and the extrication of each female individuality for the sake of the mother woman raiment. Adele Ratignolle is the premium example of the mother woman. She embodies all the womanly charms of romantic heroines. In seven years, she has had three children and is planning on a fourth. • 26. The Mexican American War And Foreign Soil Today, we are going to talk about the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil; The Mexican American War (1846 1848). Motivated by the U.S. President James K. Polk, who believed the United States had a manifest destiny to spread across the continent to the Pacific Ocean, he pitted a politically divided and militarily unprepared Mexico. A border skirmish along the Rio Grandestarted off the fighting and was followed by a series of U.S. victories. At the end of the war, Mexico had lost about one third of its territory. Let s go back to those events in details. First of all: What caused the Mexican American War to begin? The Mexican American War was mainly driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny ; the belief that the U.S had a God given right to occupy and civilize the whole continent. As increasingly large number of Americans migrated towards the west in search of land, the fact that most of those areas already had people living in them was ignored. Instead, an attitude and belief that democratic English speaking America would do a better job of running the lands than the Native Americans or Spanish speaking Catholic Mexicans prevailed. President Polk shared and led the vision of Manifest Destiny, and did offer to buy much of the southwest land from Mexico. However the Mexican government refused the offer, and an unyeilding desire to populate those southwestern lands caused tensions to continue to rise. The second major cause of the Mexican American War

Financial incentives are generally more influential when it comes to physicians improving quality of care. According to the National Research Council (2001), research regarding payment and quality improvement efforts of health care administrators was presented at an Institute of Medicine Workshop in April of 2004. The research showed ,with the use of physician incentives the total direct savings in health care cost which include reduce visits and hospital episodes was an estimated net savings of about 2,000 per patient. For more than 13,000 diabetic patients managed by a physician group it was projected that the savings had the potential to generate over $10 million in net saving per year. Aligning financial incentives with physician s networks provides the achievement of better patient outcomes, but generally provides the HMO cost control over their equity. HMO s utilize the process of controlling hospital admission and length of stay as another form of cost control. According to Nash (1994), in order to minimize hospital length of stay, the HMO arranges in advance for care to

Many Americans watching the Government response to Hurricanes Rita and Katrina as it play out in the media could not believe the finger pointing that was going on between our elected leaders as many victims struggled to get their life in order. With the National Response Framework initial responsibility remains with the local elected officials and each level of the government above that will monitor and remain ready with assistance if requested. This will allow needed resources to get where they are needed without the internal bickering of the past. The Emergency Support Function Annexes within the National Response Framework ensures multi agency interoperability and encompasses the other components of the NRF. Red Cross Entering Scene of Destruction The Red Cross has been chartered by Congress to help people prepare for, prevent, and respond to emergencies and provide relief for survivors of disasters (NRF, 2008). As a Red Cross volunteer you should ensure you are not working against the situation. Although you are going there to assist those effected by the disaster you will need to make sure you do not become a distraction or even worse needing to be assisted yourself. Working within the system with the Incident Commander and his staff will ensure you are part of the team and not working against these efforts. The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde ole Shevory Dillon F block English 11/13/2015 Desire in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Robert Stevenson s novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde follows the plight of Dr. Jekyll, giving insight to human desires that are typically repressed within a civilized society. People strive to fit into the society around them. In doing this they often suppress some aspects of their desires. After giving into desire once, the need for it may increase, and control may slowly decrease. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde explores the multi faceted dimensions of the human psyche. There is a constant battle raging within every person between morality and desire. Very often the more one attempts to suppress natural urges the stronger and more profound they become. Each man has their own desires that they wish to fulfill and all men hope that they have a way to explore those desires without any repercussions. There is no better example of this than the devolution of Dr. Jekyll throughout the book. Originally before Jekyll creates the potion that separates the good and evil parts of his psyche, he is an upstanding pillar of his community. Jekyll desires to better himself and to do so he makes a potion that may separate the evil in him from the good and thus Hyde is born. Jekyll also sees Hyde as an opportunity to be able to live out all of his desires and pleasures without consequences to himself. In his letter to Utterson Jekyll explains this, Men have

  • 38. The Effect Of Enzymes On The Concentration Of A Protein Enzymes are catalysts that speed up chemical reactions without being used up in the process (Leady). A catalyst helps speed up a chemical reaction without being changed during the reaction. Enzymes are specific meaning that they can work with only a specific set of chemical reactions. Most enzyme names end in ase. The shape of a protein is very important in its function for the reaction. The molecule the enzyme works on is called a substrate. In order for this enzyme to work on this reaction the substrate must first fit into an activation site. When an enzyme binds to its substrate, it is called an enzyme substrate complex. The resulting chemicals from the reaction are called the products. Enzymes can be affected by a few variables such as pHand temperature. All enzymes work best at a specific temperature in the reaction to work. About an average human, enzymes work greatly at 98.6 Fahrenheit or 37.5 Celsius (Effect). The lower the temperatures are the slower the enzyme works. At low temperatures, the enzyme does not work as well because there is not enough movement between the molecules to have the substrate, and the enzyme meets and binds together. The higher temperatures can cause a denature of an enzyme. This means that enzyme shape is changing making the enzyme inactive. The reason is that enzymes are proteins that are made up of amino acids and at high temperatures the hydrogen bonds break which then uncoils the protein and stops its function (Enzymes). In

Which, according to the Australian Defence force website, was to be for Australians, one of the most significant commemorations to take place during their lifetime. With the centenary looming in the backs of the minds of the Australian people, it is unsurprising that great pains have been taken to construct a three year long celebration that would encompass a number of historical milestones on Australias involvement in conflicts , such as both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam. Yet, the amount of emphasis that is placed on the Anzac legend could be argued to be incorrectly placed and channelled by certain groups for their own gain. This essay will argue that the Anzac legacy of the Australians being the perfect soldier is highly embellished and are no more remarkable than any other soldier. Furthermore the importance and Australia s involvement in the First World War has been grossly inflated. Additionally, this will analyse claims made by historians and other academics about how the Anzac legend has changed overtime, and Australia s involvement in wars. In order to understand why the Anzac legend became so prominent, an understanding of Australia s reasons for entering the First World War must be understood. Firstly, it was the first major war Australia would participate in as a state in its own right, less than two decades after Australian became a federation in 1901. According to Stanley,

Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. Standardized test scores shouldn t determine whether or not a school should close or not.The problems could be students might not make the effort, teachers might not have the resources to teach students, personal problems might stop students from succeeding, or the school, in general, might need guidance academically. Additionally, students might not be fantastic testtakers in general. The test scores show school improvements, students can t be forced to increase scores. However, some think consistently low scores mean it s time to close schools. For example, school boards, state officials, and the State Department of Educationmight take scores under consideration. There is no guarantee that score averages will increase as a whole. There are several types of students and some just are careless, don t take school seriously, or don t bother to attend school to receive the knowledge that s needed. Students might be careless by not studying, not being prepared, or not paying attention . Nevertheless, students might not take school serious because his or her family members might no push education. This would give the student a reason not to come to school to receive the lesson to succeed. Some schools suffer the lack of funds, or they might need help with writing grants to

In order to insure the correct amount of keystrokes by the user, the star or dot remains on the screen. However, the text is not displayed for the world to see. Hidden input controls are extremely useful when performing data entry tasks with a database driven web application. Often, the forms used to edit data are in reference to an entry within the database that has an integer primary key. This key is usually arbitrary integer that increments automatically, provides indexing, and has absolutely no meaning to the user. When the user selects to update the data, it is important that the systems knows what ID is being updated. However, there is no reason to display this ID to the user. In order to submit the ID of the edited database record along with the modified form fields, the ID can be assigned to a hidden input control. Data integrity with input controls is achieved both by the nature of the controls themselves and basic script validation techniques. As far as scripting is concerned, each data field can be easily verified upon submit before sending the data to the server. For the types of input controls chosen, selecting inappropriate input controls can result in data integrity issues. A text input control is rather straight forward. It is also the easiest field to
