My Accomplishments Of Employee Appraisal
Employee Comments: An employee self assessment is an important part of a yearly performance
appraisal and it is created for the employer to see this employee s achievements. October 10, 2015
marked my fifth year with this company and I consider this a significant accomplishment. Over the
last five years, I have been able to meet the needs of the company despite of the constant changes to
include: the use of two new systems (CMS, Avaya Chat). Throughout this review period, I received
numerous awards recognizing me for teamwork, flexibility, professionalism and customer service. I
was promoted into the role of a triage consultant II in the month of August. And in the month of

Flexibility: There are times when team meetings and other events interfere with call volume. Often
times, I reach out to my supervisor to offer my wiliness to be flexible during times of increased call
volumes. Because of this, I was recognized by my supervisor for being willing to change my schedule
to meet the needs of the company.
As the program trainer, I have demonstrated my ability to be flexible by participant with remote
trainings, changing my schedule to meet business needs, and traveling to the Chesapeake engagement
centers in order to complete trainings.
Professionalism and Customer Service: In the triage consultant s role, I offer excellent customer
service to all participants and exceptional professionalism to my co workers. Despite the pressures of
maintaining the call volume expectations, I was able to continue excellent customer service. As I greet
participants that call, I ensured that participants were feeling comfortable with providing information,
especially confidential information. I introduced myself and ask for their contact information in a
pleasant and welcoming manner. For example, I said statements including: my pleasure and I would
be more than happy to assist. Those statements often alleviated some of the pressure of providing
information for the participants. I also took the time to identify participants needs by asking questions

The Modeling and Aero-Elastic Analysis Performed in MSc...
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Overview
The modelling and aero elastic analysis of a laminated hybrid composite plate with SMAs as an
actuator is performed within MSc Nastran Finite Element Software. The term aeroelasticity is the
interaction of inertial, aerodynamic and elastic forces. The interaction of at least two of these forces
produces various aeroelastic phenomena such as divergence, flutter, and control reversal, buffeting
and dynamic stability. However, for this paper is only concentrate on the flutter analysis and to
investigate the potential of SMAs for aeroelasticity improvement.
For acknowledgeable, a hybrid composite material is a combination of hybrid and composite . The
meaning of hybrid in hybrid composite material itself is the hybridization in macroscopic structure in
the metallographic scale. Researchers found that there are three new categories of hybridization of
materials, that is, hybrid materials. The categorizations of hybrid materials are structurally hybridized
materials, materials hybridized in chemical bond, and functionally hybridized materials. The
composite wings require more advanced treatment that must be based on a new methodology which
handles the modelling complexity arising mainly from the fibrous nature of anisotropic composites.
The most popular hybrid composite is carbon Kevlar hybrid composite and this is because
hybridization of carbon fibre reinforced composites with Kevlar fibre results in a significant positive

Retooling the staff so that it would be able to predict problems and work with communities and
development interests of other public agencies was her number one priority. Teams that are cohesive,
productive, and efficient, whose members enjoy doing their work and working together, are a result of
managers developing and leading teams that work in these ways. Successful teams are cohesive
because team members work cooperatively, sharing common goals as well as the resources to achieve
them. They are productive, because they have clarity on the common goal and purpose. The manager
in the case determined this to be the first priority in her efforts to turn the department around. She
helped the staff decide wither they wanted to be a part of her vision for the department. She
accomplished by clearly identifying her goals and objectives then had them make a clear choice, you

priorities and values. They are efficient because tasks are assigned in a way that takes into account the
broader picture and strategy, rather than letting the team be dominated by near sighted tasks that did
not produce a valuable product to their customers, shifting from policy recommendations based on
research to active negotiations with communities. Now

Jeff Loos Ornament Was Like Crime
In the text 1908 Adolf Loos: Ornament and crime , it introduced the Austrian Architect, Adolf Loos s
ideal modern architecture and his thoughts on the evolution of the 20 century. Adolf Loos have said, It
could only benefit us if for a time we were to abandon ornament and concentrate entirely on the
erection of buildings that were finely shaped and charming in their sobriety , it shows that Loos was
very against the ornament within the buildings, which also is the center theme though out the whole
text.
Adolf loos was super against the ornament in the building, as he said Ornament was like crime . He

In many Loos s buildings, the exterior was lack of ornament, but the interior was very designed. He
used varied materials to make the building look nice inside and function well. Hence, I thought, Adolf
Loos didn t mean to say that all ornament was unnecessary, he was mean to say that we should give up
the superfluous ornament. The ornaments that will be conserve should have some sort of functions or
meanings.
Overall, I believed Loos s was trying to transfer people s attention from the ornament of building to
the function of the building. He wanted to show that ornament is not as important as the function of
building itself. I totally agree with his point, but there is always the problem of losing something when
people try to change something. At this sense, yes the extra ornaments are a waste, but not all
ornament need to be thrown away. So, leave out the useless ornament and focus more on the building
itself the structure, the materials and the

Mercutio s Death In Romeo And Juliet
The tragic romance of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare stages the death of a pair of star
crossed lovers that puts an end to the feud between the two houses. However, there are much more
deaths in the play other than Romeo and Juliet. The destiny of the play together with the clue of many
deaths are both present in the prologue before Act 1, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where
civil blood makes civil hands unclean. this line suggests to the audience that there will be blood shed
in the play ahead, giving clue to the many deaths. Also, the destiny of the play has also been spelt out

If Tybalt, the learned swordsman missed had that final thrust simply because Mercutio saw through his
moves, the play would have developed differently. Firstly, it is evident from Act 2, Scene 3 when
Benvolio asked Mercutio about Tybalt, Mercutio replied He fights as you sing prick song, keeps time,
distance, and proportion. He rests his minim rests one, two, and the third in your bosom. , this shows
that Mercutio understands the way trained swordsman fight. As a result, Mercutio has the ability to
walk out of the fight unharmed, and in the twist of fate, Tybalt is instead killed by Mercutio.
Consequently, Mercutio will flee the crime scene as Romeo did in the original play. When Prince
Escalus arrives, it is only natural for him to investigate by asking for the person whom started the
fight, undeniably Tybalt himself was the one whom started the fight, thus, is punishable by death. We
also know that Prince Escalus love Mercutio very much from Act 3, Scene 1 I ll amerce you with so
strong a fine that you shall all repent the loss of mine. Therefore, it is likely for Prince Escalus to put
the blame on the dead Tybalt for starting the fight and by the same argument Montague used in Act 1,

The Australian Judicial System
Within the context of the Australian judicial system, all legal proceedings are subject to certain rules
regarding the admissibility of evidence. In the mid 1990 s, the existing rules of evidence were
replaced by the Uniform Evidence Act s, as a means whereby consistency of decision making could be
better observed. These new rules lay out standards which must be strictly adhered to, to ensure that the
rights of both parties to a case are respected, allowing for a fair trial to take place. The specific act
which will be used is dependent on the jurisdiction of the court itself; all High Court, Federal Court,
Family Court, Federal Magistrates Court, and ACT courts are subject to The Evidence Act (Cth). The
Tasmanian, New South Wales and Victorian Evidence Acts are marginally different from that of the
Commonwealth, however generally speaking they are the same with a few minor differences .
Under the Uniform Evidence Act s, regardless of whether or not a certain piece of evidence meets the
relevant admissibility requirements, a judge in certain circumstances can use their discretion to
exclude pieces of evidence that are unfairly prejudicial on the part of the accused, which could have a
negative effect on juries assessment of a fact in issue. The discretionary powers under the Act are
based on principles established at common law, which are commonly referred to as the Christie
Discretion . An example of one of these powers under the Evidence Act is seen in section 135, which

Alienation, By Karl Marx
Alienation has been widely reported in the area of work by Karl Marx on the example of a worker.
According to him work for the laborer is an external element that does not belong to his essence. By
doing work one feels unhappy which prevents him from developing the physical and spiritual energy
and causes the ruin of the spiritual and mortification of the flesh. Marx notes that work of the laborer
is an external because it is not his own, does not belong to him, and the worker should not be in the
process of working for himself, but for someone else. He calls it loss of self, placing himself in
sacrifice, and calls it a work in which man alienates. Marx contends that man gets to be seen as a
product worth just the work he makes and man is further lessened to a subsisting creature bereft of any
limit of flexibility with the exception of the will to work. According to Marx there are four forms of
Alienation that exists in capitalist society. Viewing the worker as a product of labor means that the
more the worker works hard, the more production of the product hence not giving them time to either
relax or attend to family issues. The worker spends most of the time in the object and their life does
not belong to them anymore but belongs to the product they are manufacturing. This means that the
greater the object the worker is producing, the less himself. I remember the times when my good
friend started to work in certain software company where

Disadvantages Of Membrane Distillation
As time goes by, the fresh water supplement for living on the earth planet will become a serious
problem [1 3]. In addition, the Middle East is mentioned as one of the poorest regions in all over the
world in terms of water resources with less than 1% of the total available global freshwater per capita
[4, 5]. Therefore, one of the strategic options to satisfy the current and future request for fresh water in
countries established around Gulf is to build up desalination units. So, immediate need has arisen to
construct economic units for water desalination. Nowadays, it has been proved that membrane
separation processes have several advantages for desalination and water reuse of contaminated

MD is a thermally driven separation process that utilizes a hydrophobic, membrane as a contactor

relationship. The relationship between every daughter and their mother was different, but all of the joy

exceptionally so and even portrayed wanting their daughter to have it much better than they ever did.
For example, Lindo Jong and her daughter, Waverly Jong, had an interesting relationship. Lindo

compare it to my relationship with my mother. Similar to Lindo, my mother is proud of me and shows
that to the people around her. Although Waverly was ashamed of it in the novel, I am grateful that
mother speaks so highly of me. In the novel, June s feelings about wanting to live up to her mothers
expectation were really strong. I feel the same way in wanting to show my mom that I can go above
and beyond what she expects from me. In conclusion, this theme was displayed in every aspect of the
novel and is easy to share experiences with, but can even be shown in the worst ways of a relationship
between a daughter and a mother, just as the article brought to light.

The Marvel Of The Movie Watchmen
Subsequently, while most superhero plots involve an element of fantasy, the characters in Moore s
graphic novel are, for the most part, embedded into pessimistic version of reality with only lifelike
traits. Obviously, the one glaring exception in Watchmen is Doctor Manhattan, who is transformed
into a being capable of a number of otherworldly abilities. However, the other five heroes in the story
are regular humans who take the initiative to aid in the protection of society. This is unlike most
superheroes in previous comics, who are often blessed with a divine power that allows them to
conquer all evil. Additionally, referring to the society in which Moore s heroes are immersed in, it is
situated in a location known to its readers, with a certain twist. While Superman has his Metropolis
and Batman has his Gotham City, the six costumed adventurers are based in New York City, or more
accurately, a filthy parody of it. The universe in which Moore sets his story is the closest to reality,
with a hyperbolic emphasis on the evil in society, in which superheroes have been set it. Hence, the
problems presented to the superheroes are not something to be combatted with fantastical talents, but
more nuanced with realistic obstacles without a clear solution. In Watchmen, the imminent threat of
nuclear war is a state of affairs that would have been realistic for readers, particularly during the time
period of the graphic novel s release in 1987. This, coupled with the urban violence

Late 19th And Early 20th Century
In today s society an individual can travel to cities all over the world and experience different
technological innovations in various forms. Skyscrapers, highway systems, and suspension bridges are
all forms of innovation that, through the help of engineering and complex technological systems, can
be observed in nearly every city around the world. These technological innovations have allowed
sprawling urban environments to become the definition of a developed country, despite their infamous
reputation for loud noises, traffic, and decreased air quality. Seen and unseen forces such as
organization of labor and an expanded industry base gave rise to these urban centers through
thoughtful planning and execution. In order for great American cities to form, a technological system
must be in place. This system must incorporate a dedicated workforce that acknowledges
diversification of labor. The Lowell Mills from the late 19th and early 20th centuries represent a
system that allows economic prosperity through production (Hindle, 186). A very streamlined work

French Culture Essay
The French are all about preserving their culture and being individualized. They often take great pride
in the French products and the French style, and believe in keeping the French culture pure so they
also limit the amount of foreign goods that are being imported. But during the World Wars the French
began to allow foreigners to immigrate into France to take jobs due to an increase in job shortages.
The immigration from the World Wars added to the diversity of the French culture. Ever since the
1850 s there has been a steady flow of immigration into France, and now nine percent of the French
population is made up of immigrants (Gofen 62). The break down of the cultures in France is eighty

But, France did allow foreigners to immigrate into France after the World Wars, but this is of coarse is
going to add to the diversity of culture in France. When the French needed foreigners, they did not
mind that they came into their country, knowing that it would create diversity of religion. But now,
they are not allowing religious symbols in schools because the French want to preserve their language
and culture. So, it seems a bit ironic don t you think?
Currently, the French want to ban the wearing of religious symbols in public schools so that there is no
social tension, and to keep the main religion in France (Roman Catholicism) pure (Gofen 63). But
even though the French say they want to keep their culture pure, in reality since the world wars,
religions such as Islam and Judaism have in fact become a part of their culture. Once again, the French
let in other cultures knowingly, and once the cultural diversity begins, all the religions are apart of a
country s culture. An example of a religious symbol that the French are considering to ban is the
Burka. A Burka is an outfit worn by Muslim females that cover them head to toe. Some, who want to
ban the burka say that it is disrespectful to women and can be degrading. But, 64 million people in
France are Muslim. By wearing a Burka they are just following their religion and are also following
tradition (French). One other big controversy regarding religious symbols is the banning of

Surrealism In Poetic Realism
1930 s France saw the growth of a small film movement known as Poetic Realism.
The tenants of this movement were loose at best and mostly consisted as a tendency that a handful of
independent filmmakers used in their films. Their influences came primarily from literature of the
time and the fantastic styles of Impressionism and Surrealism. From great literature came the scripts
and stories for this movements. Great writers like Emil Zola and Leo Tolstoy had their tales appear on
the screens of French theaters.
From Impressionism, the Poetic Realist infused their films with stylized cinema, optical effects, and
editing to render reality as it is subjectively perceived ( ( removed HTML )

Impressionism dealt in over emphasized movements and scenery that were indicative of the mood or
perspective of a character. These techniques were translated into the fantasy like worlds of Poetic
Realism.
Surrealism also had a part to play in the creation of these poetic and fantastic worlds. The dream like
quality present in the Surreal movement found its way into Poetic Realism through bizarre and
incongruitous scenes and sequences. A move towards subverting narrative continuity facilitated the
use of Surrealism and Impressionism as many filmmakers wanted to distance themselves from the
American Hollywood style of straight forward narrative( ( removed HTML )

How Did Charlemagne A Unified Western Europe
Charlemagne, otherwise known as Charles the Great is often considered the Father of Europe. From
his accession AD 786 till his death in AD 814, Charles unified Western Europe and started traditions
that was preserved and reinforced for centuries to come. Charlemagne also restored the Roman
Empire, and considered himself Roman. Charlemagne was crowned Emperor of the West on
December 25th 800 A.D. by Pope Leo the III, so in essence, he was a true Roman and had many
similar qualities to Roman emperors such as Constantine.
Charles was a powerful military strategist and began to conquer land and expand his empire,
spreading Christianity along the way. In 774 Charles conquered Lombardy and became the king of the
Lombards. Later in 786 he conquered the Saxons, further expanding his empire. In 796 Charles added
the empire of the Avars to his mighty kingdom. Charles now ruled from Spain to Rome, unifying all of
Western Europe. When Charlemagne died in 814, his empire got split up, however Europe continued

A Comparison Of Alone Together By Arthur Schwartz And...
This piece is a jazz standard that was composed by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz. Schwartz was
born in Brooklyn, New York on November 25, 1900 and died on September 3, 1984. He began
playing piano and harmonica at a very young age and also wrote silent films at the age of fourteen.
Dietz was born on September 8,1896 and died on July 30, 1983. He was a publicist and lyrists. Him
and Schwartz first started working together when they teamed up for a Broadway show in 1929. They
composed Alone Together in 1932 for the Broadway musical Flying Colors (Schwartz composing the
music and Dietz the lyrics). This particular piece is considered a ballad, meaning that the tune tells a
story. Ballads come from the French chanson and they are often made up of thirteen lines with an
ABABBCBC form. It was originally used for dance tunes, but in the nineteenth century it was used
for slow tunes. The actual form for Alone Together is AABA. The significant thing about the first two
A sections, is that it is fourteen bars long which is very uncommon when it comes to American song
writing. In common song writing, each A section is only eight bars long. The bridge of the tune also
known as the B section is quite normal. It is the standard eight bar length which leads to the last eight
bars of the third A section. The tune is written in key of D minor, but, instead of playing a D minor in
the thirteenth measure of the last A section, Schwartz decides to play a D major which is called a

Aboriginal Land Rights Essay
Aboriginal Land Rights
Aboriginal Australians have always had an eternal bond with the land. For the 50,000 years or more,
they have occupied the continent; the land provided not only the basic needs, but also the spiritual
beliefs. In the Dreaming, the forms of the land, mountains, rivers, landscapes and animals took shape
and the spirit of ancestors resided in places that became sacred sites to the Aboriginal people. The land
to these people were their most precious commodity.

Federal Government to legislate to protect any native title that had survived 200 years of colonisation.
The Native Title Act 1993 is part of the Commonwealth Government s response to that historic High
Court decision. The Native Title Act came into operation on 1 January 1994
The Act does five things:
* It recognises and protects native title.
* It provides a regime to enable future dealings in native title lands and imposes conditions on those

* It provides for the validation of any past grants of land that may otherwise have been invalid
because of the existence of native title
* It establishes a regime to ascertain where native title exists, who holds it and what it is, and to
determine compensation for acts affecting it.
* It creates a land acquisition fund to meet the needs of dispossessed Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples who would not be able to claim native title.

called Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourage in the Age of show Business. The book
provides a look at what happens when politics, journalism, education and even religion become
subject to the demands of entertainment. In his book Amusing Ourselves to Death Postman says that
the content of a culture is contained in its communication, and that the content of communication is
affected by the medium of communication. In other words, Postman is saying that a culture is defined

Analysis Of The Overlook Hotel
The Overlook Hotel is shown through extreme long shots throughout the movie. This is done to
establish the setting surrounding the hotel and make the viewer feel a sense of isolation. This adds to
the overall tone of the movie, as when things start to take a turn, the viewer feels a sense of
helplessness. At the beginning of the film, the hotel is introduced after a montage is shown of a car
driving down a long, windy road, surrounded by miles of trees, bodies of water, and mountains. While
these nature shots are being shown, unsettling music plays in the background. This montage
establishes a sense of isolation and makes the viewer feel how far and out of the way one must travel
in order to get to the hotel. Once inside the hotel, there are many high angle shots and large rooms
shown. However, as the film progresses and things take a turn for the worse, the shots are eventually
more confined, creating the sense of being trapped and isolated.
Both diegetic and non diegetic sounds are used to make The Shining have a much creepier tone. One
non diegetic sound is the music that is played at the beginning of the film. The music is high pitched
and whistle like, but also dramatic. This makes the film chilling from the start and makes the audience
aware that something is going to go wrong at the hotel. Another non diegetic sound that occurred was
when Danny was riding his tricycle through the halls and turned a corner to see the twin daughters
standing at the end of the hall. When

Ban Smoking On Public Beaches
The ban of smoking on public beaches in America has increased since it started in the 1970s. This is a
controversial issue as not all people agree on banning smoking on public beaches, mainly smokers.
People that are strongly against smoking on public beaches tend to be parents and non smokers alike.
They find it absolutely unacceptable to smoke on public beaches as they see it as an unhealthy and a
harmful habit, and do not want to be around it. Apart from disapproval of non smokers, there is other
negative effects of smoking on public beaches. Therefore, smoking should not be allowed on public
beaches.
Leftover cigarettes pollute beaches and affect marine animals. Cigarette butts left and thrown onto the
beaches by irresponsible and ignorant smokers make the beaches dirty and unattractive to people. This
can have a lot of negative effects. One such example is that it is hard for the people to clean and
dispose of cigarette leftovers, as they are small and more likely to be washed away into the water.
Beach goers, families, and tourists are also affected as nobody wants to go on a polluted beach. There
are already a lot of pollutants that contributes to the destruction of the beaches, such as oil spills,
chemicals coming from factories, human wastes which are more prominent in less developed
countries, and so on. Cigarettes are no exception to that, they not only makes the beaches unattractive
to the people who go there, but they also have negative impacts on the marine

Comparing The Real Inspector Hound And Deathtrap
In both The Real Inspector Hound and Deathtrap, the authors Tom Stoppard and Iva Levin,
respectively, use the play within a play to enhance the idea of reality as well as to suggest the power of
illusion over reality. In Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound, the two narratives become
entangled and nearly impossible to separate. The play begins with two distinct narrative arcs: the
action at Muldoon manor, the play within a play, and the two theater critics, Moon and Birdboot,
watching the play. However by the end of the play, Moon and Birdboot are literally caught up in the
drawing room murder mystery that they are supposed to be reviewing. Made to function within two

Monsters and The Moral Imagination by Stephen Asma
Throughout history we see monsters taking many different shapes and sizes. Whether it be a ghoul in
the midst of a cold nightly stroll or a mass genocide, monsters are lurking everywhere and our
perception of what monsters truly are, is enhancing their growth as a force with which to be reckoned.
Fear of the unknown is seen throughout time, but as humans progress we are finding that things we
once were afraid of we are less frightening than they once were. Monsters can evoke fear in their
targeted victims rather than physically harm their victims. For instance, every year a new horror film
is released with the next scary beast, but why do we call something a monster even if we know it is
not real? Even certain people and creatures are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more we begin to understand a monstrosity, the less we fear the monster itself, however, we fear
the actions of the creature itself. Perhaps it is this fear that draws us closer to the unknown and the
monsters thrive upon this fear we have. Asma discusses how this fear allows for individuals to play
out scenarios in their minds; we then use the events to ultimately ask ourselves, what will I do in a
situation like that (Asma)? Dating back to the early days of Christ in a biblical era, we see monsters
have always been on the rise. Stephen Asma s chapter on Biblical Monsters in On Monsters shows
how godly monsters were on the rise in the Medieval eras. Whether it was gods testing of one s faith,
or individuals justifications as to why monsters were on earth, we can see the rise through this
Medieval period as gods uses of monsters varies. In Asma s subsection over The Apocalypse, he
discusses numerous interactions between good and evil monsters where they are disguised almost as
that of a symbolic gesture. For instance, Asma explains how God sometimes will use his monstrous
capabilities to cause harm to an individual to test ones faith. We see this in particular when the devil
convinces God to test Job this way (Asma 64).Throughout this period in time, we see the classic
biblical beasts such as the Behemoth and Leviathan at work. These monsters, among

tone, and resolve the central conflict. I believe that the moths are actually being used in this story to

When the narrator talks about her family the tone of the story seems to be gloomy. The definition of
gloomy is causing distress or depression. An example of this tone can be found in the story in the
second paragraph. The narrator says, I always pricked my fingers or knotted my colored threads time
and time again while my sisters laughed and called me Bull Hands . The narrator even goes as far as
carrying a piece of jagged brick in her sock to strike her sisters with. Then, when the narrator talks
about Abuelita and the good times they have together the tone shifts and now becomes more
lighthearted. This lighthearted tone can be found in the story a couple of times, but one significant
example of this can be found in paragraph 4. It says, Abuelita would wait for me at the top step of her
porch, holding a hammer and nail and empty coffee cans. And although we hardly ever spoke, hardly
looked at each other as we worked over root transplants, I always felt her grey eye on me. It made me
feel, in a strange sort of way, safe and guarded and not alone. Like God was suppose to make you feel.
The two different examples I just gave provide evidence that the tone of this story changes depending

In the mid 1990 s, the existing rules of evidence were replaced by the Uniform Evidence Act s, as a means whereby consistency of decision making could be better observed. These new rules lay out standards which must be strictly adhered to, to ensure that the rights of both parties to a case are respected, allowing for a fair trial to take place. The specific act which will be used is dependent on the jurisdiction of the court itself; all High Court, Federal Court, Family Court, Federal Magistrates Court, and ACT courts are subject to The Evidence Act (Cth). According to him work for the laborer is an external element that does not belong to his essence. By doing work one feels unhappy which prevents him from developing the physical and spiritual energy and causes the ruin of the spiritual and mortification of the flesh. Marx notes that work of the laborer is an external because it is not his own, does not belong to him, and the worker should not be in the process of working for himself, but for someone else. He calls it loss of self, placing himself in sacrifice, and calls it a work in which man alienates. Marx contends that man gets to be seen as a product worth just the work he makes and man is further lessened to a subsisting creature bereft of any limit of flexibility with the exception of the will to work. According to Marx there are four forms of Alienation that exists in capitalist society. Viewing the worker as a product of labor means that the more the worker works hard, the more production of the product hence not giving them time to either relax or attend to family issues. The worker spends most of the time in the object and their life does not belong to them anymore but belongs to the product they are manufacturing. However, the other five heroes in the story are regular humans who take the initiative to aid in the protection of society. This is unlike most superheroes in previous comics, who are often blessed with a divine power that allows them to conquer all evil. While Superman has his Metropolis and Batman has his Gotham City, the six costumed adventurers are based in New York City, or more accurately, a filthy parody of it. • 30. A Comparison Of Alone Together By Arthur Schwartz And... This piece is a jazz standard that was composed by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz. Schwartz was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 25, 1900 and died on September 3, 1984. He began playing piano and harmonica at a very young age and also wrote silent films at the age of fourteen. Dietz was born on September 8,1896 and died on July 30, 1983. He was a publicist and lyrists. Him and Schwartz first started working together when they teamed up for a Broadway show in 1929. They composed Alone Together in 1932 for the Broadway musical Flying Colors (Schwartz composing the music and Dietz the lyrics). This particular piece is considered a ballad, meaning that the tune tells a story. Ballads come from the French chanson and they are often made up of thirteen lines with an ABABBCBC form. It was originally used for dance tunes, but in the nineteenth century it was used for slow tunes. The actual form for Alone Together is AABA. The significant thing about the first two A sections, is that it is fourteen bars long which is very uncommon when it comes to American song writing. In common song writing, each A section is only eight bars long. The bridge of the tune also known as the B section is quite normal. It is the standard eight bar length which leads to the last eight bars of the third A section. The tune is written in key of D minor, but, instead of playing a D minor in the thirteenth measure of the last A section, Schwartz decides to play a D major which is called a Picardy ... • 38. Analysis Of The Overlook Hotel The Overlook Hotel is shown through extreme long shots throughout the movie. This is done to establish the setting surrounding the hotel and make the viewer feel a sense of isolation. This adds to the overall tone of the movie, as when things start to take a turn, the viewer feels a sense of helplessness. At the beginning of the film, the hotel is introduced after a montage is shown of a car driving down a long, windy road, surrounded by miles of trees, bodies of water, and mountains. While these nature shots are being shown, unsettling music plays in the background. This montage establishes a sense of isolation and makes the viewer feel how far and out of the way one must travel in order to get to the hotel. Once inside the hotel, there are many high angle shots and large rooms shown. However, as the film progresses and things take a turn for the worse, the shots are eventually more confined, creating the sense of being trapped and isolated. Both diegetic and non diegetic sounds are used to make The Shining have a much creepier tone. One non diegetic sound is the music that is played at the beginning of the film. The music is high pitched and whistle like, but also dramatic. This makes the film chilling from the start and makes the audience aware that something is going to go wrong at the hotel. Another non diegetic sound that occurred was when Danny was riding his tricycle through the halls and turned a corner to see the twin daughters standing at the end of the hall. When ... • 39. Ban Smoking On Public Beaches The ban of smoking on public beaches in America has increased since it started in the 1970s. This is a controversial issue as not all people agree on banning smoking on public beaches, mainly smokers. People that are strongly against smoking on public beaches tend to be parents and non smokers alike. They find it absolutely unacceptable to smoke on public beaches as they see it as an unhealthy and a harmful habit, and do not want to be around it. Apart from disapproval of non smokers, there is other negative effects of smoking on public beaches. Therefore, smoking should not be allowed on public beaches. Leftover cigarettes pollute beaches and affect marine animals. Cigarette butts left and thrown onto the beaches by irresponsible and ignorant smokers make the beaches dirty and unattractive to people. This can have a lot of negative effects. One such example is that it is hard for the people to clean and dispose of cigarette leftovers, as they are small and more likely to be washed away into the water. Beach goers, families, and tourists are also affected as nobody wants to go on a polluted beach. There are already a lot of pollutants that contributes to the destruction of the beaches, such as oil spills, chemicals coming from factories, human wastes which are more prominent in less developed countries, and so on. Comparing The Real Inspector Hound And Deathtrap In both The Real Inspector Hound and Deathtrap, the authors Tom Stoppard and Iva Levin, respectively, use the play within a play to enhance the idea of reality as well as to suggest the power of illusion over reality. In Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound, the two narratives become entangled and nearly impossible to separate. The play begins with two distinct narrative arcs: the action at Muldoon manor, the play within a play, and the two theater critics, Moon and Birdboot, watching the play. However by the end of the play, Moon and Birdboot are literally caught up in the drawing room murder mystery that they are supposed to be reviewing. Whether it be a ghoul in the midst of a cold nightly stroll or a mass genocide, monsters are lurking everywhere and our perception of what monsters truly are, is enhancing their growth as a force with which to be reckoned. Fear of the unknown is seen throughout time, but as humans progress we are finding that things we once were afraid of we are less frightening than they once were. Monsters can evoke fear in their targeted victims rather than physically harm their victims. For instance, every year a new horror film is released with the next scary beast, but why do we call something a monster even if we know it is not real? Even certain people and creatures are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The more we begin to understand a monstrosity, the less we fear the monster itself, however, we fear the actions of the creature itself. Perhaps it is this fear that draws us closer to the unknown and the monsters thrive upon this fear we have. Asma discusses how this fear allows for individuals to play out scenarios in their minds; we then use the events to ultimately ask ourselves, what will I do in a situation like that (Asma)? Dating back to the early days of Christ in a biblical era, we see monsters have always been on the rise. Stephen Asma s chapter on Biblical Monsters in On Monsters shows how godly monsters were on the rise in the Medieval eras. Whether it was gods testing of one s faith, or individuals justifications as to why monsters were on earth, we can see the rise through this Medieval period as gods uses of monsters varies. In Asma s subsection over The Apocalypse, he discusses numerous interactions between good and evil monsters where they are disguised almost as that of a symbolic gesture. For instance, Asma explains how God sometimes will use his monstrous capabilities to cause harm to an individual to test ones faith. We see this in particular when the devil convinces God to test Job this way (Asma 64).Throughout this period in time, we see the classic biblical beasts such as the Behemoth and Leviathan at work. An example of this tone can be found in the story in the second paragraph. The narrator even goes as far as carrying a piece of jagged brick in her sock to strike her sisters with. Then, when the narrator talks about Abuelita and the good times they have together the tone shifts and now becomes more lighthearted.
