12-Step Group Meeting
12 Step Program Group Visit For this assignment, I chose to attend an open group meeting for
Overeaters Anonymous on 6/29/2015. The group participates in the H.O.W. program of Overeaters
Anonymous. H.O.W. stands for the principles of honesty, open mindedness, and willingness. The
meeting took place at St. Andrew s Episcopal Church, located at 2535 East Broadway St. in Pearland.
The format for this meeting was an open meeting. The meeting was an informal, but structured
meeting, observing both the 12 Step recovery approach, and the Overeaters Anonymous 12 Traditions.
The only requirement for Overeaters Anonymous membership is the desire to stop eating
compulsively. My principle motivations for attending this meeting included the self awareness, ...

Service: Carrying this message to other people who are addicted to food so they can learn how these
principles may change their lives.
12 Step recovery programs utilize both open and closed meeting formats. Open meeting format is
welcomes everyone, including non addicts who wish to attend in support of a loved one or to gain
knowledge and understanding. Closed meetings accept and consist of only recovering addicts.
Regardless of the meeting type, these meetings have some general expectations:
Every attendee deserves respect.
Personal experiences are shared voluntarily; if someone wishes to remain silent, they can.
Some meetings may include speakers who can share their own insights.
Only first names are used, and attendance is never disclosed outside of a meeting.
Any money gathered is given by choice; no fees are ever demanded.
Although meetings may be held in public spaces or religious buildings, no affiliation should be
assumed.
Overeaters Anonymous utilizes a peer support system, reassuring each member that they are not alone,
and are not the only ones who have an addiction to food. The goal is to remain abstinent with
overeating. This accomplished by face to face meetings three times per week, sponsorship, in which
the recovering person makes four telephone contacts per day with their sponsor, self analysis writing
exercises, as well as reference literature and eating

Lady Liberty Research Paper
The Statue of Liberty, also known as Lady Liberty, for me is the most intriguing part of New York
City. It is a symbol of hope, freedom, and a better life in the United States. It is widely known that
Lady Liberty was the first thing immigrants saw when they came to America, this architectural
structure was a symbol of hope and freedom. What intrigues me the most is, Why would France just
give us a an expensive copper statue? I never understood this until right now, everyone knows what
she symbolizes, she is the Statue of Liberty. The word liberty is related to the word liberated , which
means to free. For example, U.S. soldiers helped liberate Jews from the concentration camps in
Germany after World War 2. The statue was given to us to represent freedom, the concept on which
our great country was born on. Not just any freedom, a true freedom, a freedom in which we are not
subservient to a king. In a sense, we are being liberated from being servants to the kingdom. It is our
country and we want to protect and defend it because we are fighting for a cause, not just some person
who wears a crown because of the family he was born in to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To understand this you need to go back in history to the 1790 s when France was fighting there
Revolutionary War. They followed the ways of the United States by starting the French Revolution in
the kingdom of France. The bourgeois or middle class believed the citizens should have a part in the
politics of their country and should not be run by a few aristocrats. France wanted true freedom like
the U.S.A., they wanted to be liberated from there kings like us. The Statue of Liberty represents that
freedom. The U.S. was the first major country to become independent successfully and re imagine
politics, this led the French to do the same, which led to a long friendship with

Examples Of Chivalry
Examine the representation of the chivalric model of gender relations in the work of J. S. Mill and
John Ruskin
In the mid nineteenth century women s choices were severely limited; their lives were slightly better
than those of slaves. They were expected to obey men unquestionably. This essay will focus on Ruskin
s Sesame and Lilies and J. S. Mill s The Subjection of Women; paying particular attention to the
representation of chivalry in general and gender relations and equality in specific. The essay will
demonstrate Ruskin and Mill s contrasting positions, demonstrating that Ruskin presents chivalry
favorably as a positive concept. Mill, on the other hand, portrays chivalry as a backward concept,
believing that the concept still stands between the savageness and civilization, and is not something to
be asking for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an example, he shows that women were ill treated in the kingdoms of Asia, and states that Women
are not only practically ill treated, but theoretically despised; the whole honor of family is considered
to be bound up in its women. He also states that chivalry was developed as an ideology in the Middle
Ages in order initiate social progress, but there were argues that this was erroneous as such concept
stands between savage life and the civilized life. For Mill, treating women in a good way is the mark
of civilization. At first, this statement seems poorly considered as Mill does not define what he means
by good treatment. However, he eventually explains that it does not mean to idealize or worship
women; nor treat them as jewelry putting them in a safe place to protect them from dangers. In both
cases, women would be objectified and valued only their beauty. For Mill, this is not the right way to
appreciate women, which forms a large part of his definition of civilized , and this is the main reason
that he stands against

Whirlpool Corporation s
Global Strategy
We want to be able to take the best capabilities we have and leverage them in all our companies
worldwide.
David Whitman, Whirlpool CEO, 1994
Quoted in the Harvard Business Review
In 1989, Whirlpool Corporation (Whirlpool) embarked on an ambitious global expansion with the
objective of becoming the world market leader in home appliances. Beginning with the purchase of a
majority stake in an appliance company owned by Philips, the Dutch electronics firm, Whirlpool
purchased a majority stake in an Indian firm, established four joint ventures in China, and made
significant new investments in its Latin America operations.

The four main players Whirlpool, General

With limited growth opportunities and a handful of major players in the United States, it was critical
that firms focus on cost reduction, productive efficiency, and product quality. Product innovation was
also critical, although few major innovations had occurred in recent years. The apppliance firms
segmented their products according to different consumers needs, and each strived to achieve greater
economies of scale. Still, by the end of the 1990s, the competitive landscape remained unattractive.
Profit margins continued to decline for most firms. Many analysts believed that the market for
appliances was saturated and that there would be little increase in growth rates. This saturation had left
the distributors focusing primarily on replacement purchases and purchases for new housing
developments.

The True, Good, and Beautiful
March 17, 2017
As we have learned by defining truth and how it is based on an unwavering and dogmatic stance,
which is faith in God Love, and is absolute. Absolute truth starts with God and ends with God, truth
looks at the Bible for what it is and what it says, and not with independence or interpretation. Now,
what is good and can we define it? In the American society, it is evident that individuals want to brand
good as personally defined and not absolute, however, for something to be truly good , it has to be
good for the whole world, meaning it cannot constantly change between persons. Therefore, what is
good must be defined by something unchanging, for that reason, what ... Show more content on

His goodness is unity, oneness, without division, it looks at truth for definition, it is absolute love, it
places every person higher than themselves, and it does not worry or take thought about things that are
not beneficial for love. Christ is the perfect example for truth and goodness. He is truly relational to
God, he accepted the whole world in love by dying for them to include murderers, pedophiles,
enemies, the oppressed, the racist, the tax collectors, the sexually immoral, the slave, every nationality,
those who continually struggle with sin, etc. Jesus was and is impartial; he is the definition of truth,
which leads to goodness. Goodness as defined by truth is our guidance for how to live, reason,
communicate, and comprehend in a secular world. Without a firm stance on what is good, based on
absolute truth, we (again) would be left to find the answers for ourselves in a modernist and
postmodernist fashion. As without truth, the result leaves one empty while searching and finding
nothing truly good. Therefore, we must focus on truth and what it tells us to define good, because
what is good is the byproduct of absolute

Finding Solace At The Blacklist Essay
I recently told an employee of mine that The Blacklist has been fun to watch through its first two
episodes of its fourth season. I have always been a big fan of The Blacklist, considering it was the first
show I reviewed for SpoilerTV. This may be why I am overly critical of each and every episode,
however, I rarely, if ever, belittle the show (even during what I thought was an unsatisfactory and
imperfect season three). I find solace in ratings, for some reason, which is why I tend to list them in
the beginning of my reviews. I find they are an important indicator (although the current system is a
tad outdated) of a show s progress. With that in mind, The Blacklist has not done so well in the ratings
department since its imaginative and incredible freshman season. However, the ratings are not so bad
as to worry us about its future on our television screens. The latest chapters, Esteban and Mato , have
had modest viewership. The premiere garnering an ok 6.4 million viewers with Mato losing some of
them and getting 5.99 million. I mention all of this because The Blacklist is one of my favorite shows
on television at the moment and should have much more viewers than they currently have. I also
mention this because I think this Season 4, although only two episodes in, seems to be heading back to
its Season 1 roots, which made me say out loud to my employee that I could sum up this season so far
with one word fun . The first two episodes this season have

The Way of Tlachtli Essay
Since the early 1400s BCE, people of this era have played one of the earliest known forms of a sport
that involves two teams and a rubber ball played on a court. Based on archaeological evidence,
Tlachtli (which translates in English to ball game ) is thought to have been played by the civilizations
of Mesoamerica including the Aztec, Maya, Olmec, and Toltec. The game was more than a sport to
these people. It was a means of settling conflicts and maintaining social harmony, it was a very
important part in the ritualistic lives of those cultures. The most fascinating aspect of this sport is what
set it apart from other ritual based events of these cultures. Based on how you played in the ball game
was a matter of life and death. As seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing as this is the only place the rubber tree grows, it would be no surprise if this is where the sport
was born. For the Mesoamerican cultures of this area, rubber was an important material valued as
sacred and ceremonial. A unique substance that is neither solid nor liquid, rubber played an important
role in the everyday lives of Mesoamerican people. The most creative use of rubber was not for
agriculture, construction, or warfare, but a deadly ceremonial sport.
Murals found at a dig site in Teotihuacan suggests that at one point, this sport was played with wooden
sticks, but the most common played method of the game used no extra equipment; players kept the
ball in play using their hips. While the game play varied from city to city, the game rules of play were
basically the same throughout Mesoamerica of that era. The game was played in large stone courts and
informally on fields in major Mesoamerican cities. Proof shows that Aztec games were eventually
played with stone hoops where players could score points by hitting the hoop with the ball or win the
game outright by getting the ball through the hoop.
Tlachtli was a serious matter to the players and to the cultures of Mesoamerica. The game was intense
and serious and sometimes fatal injuries were inflicted by the solid, heavy nine pound ball. Back when
Spain controlled the area, Spanish chronicler Diego Durán explained that some bruises caused by the
ball were so bad that

The Sexuality Of Social Stigma
One young man from Michigan states that, My stepfather caught me watching the show once, and
treated me like I was mentally ill (thankfully, he s mentioned it to no one else)... I m still afraid of
social stigma for being public about my appreciation for the show. Bussey and Bandura would suggest
that this is a standard practice for fathers reacting more negatively to their son s gender infractions.
For many people, it is hard to see men occupy a feminized space and still see them as masculine. After
discovering the Brony fandom, many people have questions regarding the sexuality of the fandom
such as the following Yahoo Answers post from a concerned parent of a fan:
Well I just created my account, so I can ask this. Yesterday I came home from work early, and I
walked up to my 15 year old sons [sic] room. When I opened it, I saw him with headphones watching
My little pony . He didn t notice me, so I just acted like nothing happened. Could he be gay, or just
likes the show?
Update: Please explain what a brony is. Are they a gay group of men? Or sonthing [sic] else?
Learning that his adolescent son is watching a cartoon about ponies, this parent draws the conclusion
that his child is gay. His assumptions demonstrate how members of society regard masculine space
because enjoying ponies relegates young men into an effeminate position. Thankfully, there are
number of people who answer his question by explaining the fandom to him. Questions of sexuality

Comparison Of Pilgrims First And Puritans
There were many reasons why English colonists decided to cross the Atlantic. Some dreamed of
owning lands and of a life improvement, others were escaping from something that was troubling
them, and some were trying to institute a way of living based on the sacred scriptures. Pilgrims first
and Puritans after tried to establish a new and much more pure form of worship. Although this two
groups had the same desire to apply the protestant reformation to the new world, certainly they differ
in so many ways. First and foremost the terms and their meanings differ. In fact, while the term
pilgrim indicates the one who made a journey for religious purposes, the term puritan defines the one
that wants to reform and purify the church. In 1620, a group

A Modest Proposals By Johnathon Swift
The world we live in, especially Europe, has seen and will continue to see many writers who are very

the critical writing of Johnathon Swift. Swift writes about how the Irish government is in a poor state,
both economically and politically. He writes about the poverty rates and how it is affecting woman,
especially. Swift goes on to explain how the poverty rate is hurting woman, most of which are mothers
with multiple kids who cant afford to feed them all. Swift explains how the country would be better if
parents sold their children, and if people ate them if they were not needed.

luxury and bet our families rather than investing and them. What I mean by import luxury is that we
don t make anything in our country anymore, everything is imported from Asia (China and Japan
mostly). America has a slowly growing poverty rate that can be fixed if people simply invest in their
country and love it like they love the stuff we import. If we buy American and buy local in our states

Swift says that if you buy and support locally and invest in your family and women rather than
gambling them away, often times you do better. This would increase the situation with the people and
the government because we as of right now aren t on the same page as our government and we haven t

Non Gravitational Effects On Jupiter s Satellites
Non gravitational effects on Jupiter s satellites The non gravitational forces affecting on the natural
satellites orbits were studied recently using observations. This effect creates a quadratic term in orbital
longitude and a secular changing of the semi major axis. Causes may be only hypothetical. It is
assumed that the causes of the effects are in the tides in the body of the planet and in the body of
satellite (Emelyanov 2015; private communication). Lainey et al. (2009) considered an extensive set
of astrometric observations from 1891 to 2007 to study the orbital tidal evolution of the innermost
Jovian satellite Io. They integrated numerically the full equations of motion for the satellite center s
mass. It is noteworthy that Io s tidal heat comes from the orbital energy of the Io Jupiter system
(resulting in orbital acceleration), whereas dissipation of energy in Jupiter causes Io s orbital motion to
declare. They used a weighted least squares inversion procedure and minimized the differences
between the observed and computed positions of the satellites to determine the parameters of the
model. The solution for the tidal dissipation gives for Io, and for Jupiter, where, is the love number
and is the quality value. The orbital accelerations represent a shift in the orbital positions of the
Galilean satellites Io, Europa and Ganymede of 55 km, 125 km and 365 km over the 116 years
respectively. The fit astrometric residuals range essentially between 0.02 and

The Significance of the Frontier in American History
How does Turner explain the recurring need for communication and transportation along the American
frontier? What Turner wants to point out here is that the American West is the most important feature
of American history, and of the development of its society. He refers several times to a process of
Americanization and we will see that the definition he gives of it is a very peculiar one. He gives a
definition of the frontier: it lies at the hither edge of free land , meaning that he considers the Indian
territory to be free land. According to him the frontier is the meeting point between savagery and
civilization , the most rapid and effective Americanization . The process of Americanization he refers
to is in fact a double ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Year by year the farmers who lived on soil, whose returns were diminished by unrotated crops were
offered the virgin soil of the frontier at nominal prices. Their growing families demanded more lands,
and these were dear. The competition of the unexhausted, cheap, and easily tilled prairie lands
compelled the farmer either to go west and continue the exhaustion of the soil on a new frontier, or to
adopt intensive culture.
Thus the census of 1890 shows, in the Northwest, many counties in which there is an absolute or a
relative decrease of population. These States have been sending farmers to advance the frontier on the
Plains, and have themselves begun to turn to intensive farming and to manufacture. A decade before
this, Ohio had shown the same transition stage. Thus the demand for land and the love of wilderness
freedom drew the frontier ever onward.
Having now roughly outlined the various kinds of frontiers and their modes of advance, chiefly from
the point of view of the frontier itself, we may next inquire what were the influences on the East and
on the Old World. A rapid enumeration of some of the more noteworthy effects is all that I have time
for.
First, we note that the frontier promoted the formation of a composite nationality for the American
people. The coast was preponderantly English, but the later tides of continental immigration

Would you believe that giant snakes, turtles, catfish, or spiders live underneath the ground, and it is

Drejer et al. (1998) indicate that there is a particular tradition of this kind of research in Scandinavia,
where case research is widely used in such research. Case research is widely used in other
management disciplines, notably organisational behaviour and strategy. Yin (1994) has described in
detail case research design, and Glaser and Strauss (1967) described the grounded theory method.
Case research has its roots in the broader field of social sciences, in particular ethnographic studies
and anthropology. In this paper, we will draw on the experience of these disciplines as well as that of
researchers in operations and technology management. In particular, we will draw on the work of
Eisenhardt (1989), who brought together much of the previous work on building theory from case
research. Our intention is to provide a roadmap for designing, developing and conducting case based
research and also to describe some recent examples of case based research in the field of operations
and technology management. Most of the research conducted in the field of operations management is
based on rationalist[1] research methods, primarily statistical survey analysis and mathematical
modelling. However, since ``. . . the explanation of quantitative findings and the construction of theory
based on those findings will ultimately have to be based on qualitative understanding (Meredith,

mode, increasing surveillance and dismantling privacy rights. The Patriot Act was hastily passed just a
month later in October 2001 and it severely limited the privacy of Americans and gave unprecedented
power to the government and private agencies to track innocent Americans, turning regular citizens
into suspects.5 In addition, the great technological evolution and emergence of social media that

the largely unregulated surveillance society that we live in today.6 The result is digitization of people s

Conquest Of Ai Analysis
The Conquest of Ai Joshua 7:1 9 outlines the initial failed attack on Ai. One possible reading is to say
that the omission of YHWH s voice in the attack is the reason that they were defeated. While there is
some truth that can be extracted from this, I think it s more beneficial to note that the text attributes
this failure to the poor military advice given to Joshua (Joshua 7:3). In addition, it is also helpful to
note the lack of reason given for the Israelites needing to take on Ai. Unlike the two occurrences with
Moses that I have already mentioned, Ai posed to no threat to the Israelites. Unlike Jericho, YHWH
gave no command regarding whether Ai was to be attacked or not. Verses 6 10 show Joshua to fall

that military force striking all over the world. We have done it so much that we have masked God s
voice because of our love for military activity. We send people out in his name we bless the work that
soldiers do, including the violence that they enact with others. If the United States is truly 83%
Christian, then I plead for more people to analyze this story of the Israelites and the city of Ai, and that
we learn the lessons clear to us from the text.
Military activity, particularly when it is unwarranted or for a single nation s benefit, silences the voice
of God in a society. The silencing of God allows for people to falsely speak on his behalf. It s
something that we have seen more clearly in modern times through the unrest in the Middle East, but
it has been a part of our culture for a long time now. This activity needs to cease immediately, or we

Fashion Change over the Decades
How the change in fashion over the decades has represents ones particular lifestyle Introduction
Fashion is a way of expressing one s self through clothing which could be influenced by a particular
era or group fighting for a cause or representing a certain groups with the same interests. This essay
aims to highlight how a group of people have a certain persona that can be so large that it will
influence the way they dress and their beliefs and lifestyle. This analysed over decades. In each
paragraph I am going to highlight how a specific group or event that occurred in the particular decade
influenced the fashion in America. My conclusion will basically prove my thesis. Fashion in the 1970
s The 1970s was the decade of the mods and the hippies. Men and women were wearing tight pants
and bell bottoms were also huge in the 70 s. At times it was difficult to make a clear distinction of
what was seen appropriate for home and what was seen appropriate for a night out. Women were seen
pairing low cut pants with high cut boots, ....this was probably also the first full decade in which
women could be seen wearing pants in every walk of life. retro waste. Available from:
www.retrowaste.com/1970s/fashion in the 1970s/ . (Accessed 14 April 2014 ) There are a couple of
hippie groups from the 70 s that decided to do things a little out of the norm like Queen who had
bisexual member in his band and at those times it was seen as an abomination to be into people of the
same sex.

never wanted to end up his life. His failures are ultimately challenging him to do something and try
which is not already tried by anyone before. While, Millie s failures are just saddest part of her life
that compel her to end her life after being fed up with the harshness present in her life. In other words,
she lacks motivational factors in life. She has converted her pain into some pointless obsessions like
watching opera. Guy explored his unware areas by getting himself aware of subconscious actions and
rebellious desires by reading plenty of books. Millie has stopped exploring anything and is more into
adding misery in her life. She considered her life as already tried and already done stuff. Millie wanted
change too, but in a way that is more negatively influential. She wanted to change life into death and
obsessions into never ending phase. Guy once said Millie that If you hide your ignorance, no one will

Oppression of Jews during World War II
Oppression of Jews During World War II In her memoir, We Are On Our Own, Miriam Katin tells the
story of how she and her mother escaped from Nazi soldiers during World War II. Katin and her
mother are two Jews that are completely on their own. Katin has no other siblings and her father is
fighting in the war(12) Jews were discriminated during World War II by the Nazis, who believed their
Aryan race was superior to the Jewish race and all other races. Over six million innocent Jews were
killed during World War II while the world watched, and countless other Jews were oppressed and
discriminated against leading up to the war. In her moving memoir, Miriam Katin retells the story of
how she and her mother escaped from Nazi soldiers and survived the oppression of Nazi Germany.
World War II began in 1939, when German soldiers invaded Poland. Although this was the beginning
of the war, it was not the beginning of the oppression and discrimination of Jews. Jews had been
looked down upon for centuries. Many times, when Europeans needed an answer to a problem, the
Jews were blamed. When the Black Death hit Europe in the 1300 s, the Europeans had no answer as to
what the epidemic was or how to stop it. With no answer in sight, Europeans blamed the Jews and
came up with phony explanations as to what the Jews did to them. For example, the Europeans blamed
the Jews for poisoning the Europeans wells and that was why everyone was getting sick and dying.

Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags
A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines
and other customers screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe
throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard earned plastic bags if you could do
something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won t be wasted. A
rope can be used for many things including tug of war, tire swing, etc.
If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic
grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you
want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor
space.
Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and
lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the
handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more
difficult.
For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam
under the plastic bag s handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the
bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that you have
finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done,

Two Major Components Of Lactate Dehydrogenase In Biology
Lactate dehydrogenase is an enzyme that is found in most living organisms which catalyzes the
conversion of lactate to pyruvic acid. It converts NAD+ to NADH and back again. Pyruvate is
converted to lactate when oxygen isn t present and the reverse reaction takes place (Wikipedia). There
are two major subunits of lactate dehydrogenase which are the M form and the H form. The M form,
major subunit in muscles, is efficient in the conversion of pyruvate to lactate. The H form, major
subunit in the heart, is efficient in the conversion of lactate to pyruvate. Despite the differences in
structure of the M and H form, there s enough similarity for hybrids of the M and H form to form
(Goodsell).
The oxidization of lactate requires the binding of NAD+ to the enzyme first before lactate. A hydride
ion is rapidly transferred in either direction yielding a mixture of the two teranary complexes, enzyme
NAD+ lactate and enzyme NADH pyruvate. The dissociation of pyruvate from the enzyme followed
by NADH takes place. The rate of dissociation of NADH is the rate limiting step. This remains valid
in the reverse reaction as the binding of NADH takes place first and then the substrate, pyruvate, is
able to bind (Busby). The reverse reaction of pyruvate to lactate is the thermodynamically favored
reaction. When oxygen is insufficient, it s purpose is to restore NAD+ to allow glycolysis to continue
without stopping (Aalto). Although this reaction has a Gibbs Free energy value is 200kJ/mol, 93%

Systems Theory
1. Systems theory and the Ecological perspective
As a social worker, one must understand the impact of systems in the environment.
The interactions between the individual and their multiple systems give social workers a
visual of how to interpret their consumer s life. System theories is one way to try to
interpret a consumer s life to have somewhat of a general idea of how to help solve the
problems they are facing. The easiest way to view system theories are by creating
ecomaps. These maps give you a visual written in black and white to see the different
systems that the individual interacts with.
To understand this concept in the field, a social worker, must know what a
system even is. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I of course have stressful
situations and recieve negative input or output, but who doesnt? Feedback is extremely
important for systems and is a type of input. A system can have either positive feedback
(a system recieving info that what they are doing is correct) or negative feedback
(influences the individual to make a change because it interupts homeostasis). Throughout
most of my ecomap, I mostly have positive feedback but also have a few negative
feedbacks.
Systems tend to move from a simple form to a more complex form. This is known
as differentiation. Life brings in new experiences, relationships, and situations everyday,
so each day your life becomes more complex. One day, a subsystem can have a positive
energy flow and then the very next a negative. It can change by a drop of a hat. Entropy
is the tendency of a system to progress toward disorganization, depletion, and death.
(Zastrow, Kirst Ashman p. 6) The saying nothing lasts forever could not be truer.
People age over time and eventually will die. You as an individual are constantly aging
and will perhaps leave your parents house and start your own family. With time your
children will do the same, and so on and so forth.
Equifinality is a very important concept to understand as well. This simply means
that everyone in the world or in your systems always have an alternative path to

The Montessori Method Essay
The Montessori Method (Word count includes Annotated Bibliography)
The Montessori method began in the early 1900 s by the first female doctor in Italy, Dr. Mary
Montessori, as a way of educating mentally disabled children. Her ideas were so successful with these
children that she began to apply her understanding of learning to study the potential of normally
functioning children (Oalf, 2001). Dr. Montessori s approach to education stresses the importance of
learning styles, independence and responsibility.
According to Maria Montessori, In the special environment prepared?in our schools, the children

1957). The ?prepared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, the children move about the classroom independently, choosing the order of their learning
activities. There may be 15 or more activities, or ?jobs? as they are called in some Montessori
classrooms, occurring at the same time with small groups or individual work, yet the classroom
remains quiet, yet busy and productive, sometimes with the soft hush of classical music playing in the
background. Many Montessori school classrooms place a card around the child?s neck with the day?s
objectives written in the form of a checklist for the students to monitor themselves. This checklist
encourages the students to take responsibility for their own learning, as well as discourages prompt
dependence, since the student need not wait for instruction. Some of the activities in a Montessori
classroom include reading, pre reading using phonics, math, discovery science and writing. Children
learn skills in a way that he or she is not aware that learning is taking place. For example, a child
playing in the sand box with a small rake is not aware that he or she is learning fine motor skills and
how to hold and control a pencil. Another observation in a Montessori classroom is that most
classrooms tend to span three grade levels. This practice allows to children to become mentors to
younger students. Also, the large gap in developmental levels allows children to ?learn at their own
pace? (Keller, 2001), which is another important Montessori

Introduction In this paper, a meaningful clinical event, regarding delayed medications, is examined.
The paper explores the importance of right time administration and explores the causative factors and
preventative measures of wrong time errors. As a final point, I describe how I would handle the
scenario differently after learning strategies to reduce late medication administrations, thus reducing
patient harm. Look Back/Elaborate During week five, I was assigned to two patients (A and B), one of
whom is a shared client (patient B) between me and a colleague. Strategically, my colleague and I
planned out the first half of the shift, such that we would perform vital signs and head to toe

In the event, I felt distressed and frustrated because I failed to perform daily tasks on time, most
importantly medication administration. Furthermore, these emotions were heightened by feelings of
not being able to deliver the best possible care and thoughts of my nurses being disappointed in me
because of my poor performance. Essentially, these negative feelings arise from my values and beliefs
of being punctual and providing safe and high quality care. These values are shaped by my family and
profession as I was always disciplined and taught the importance of being on time and promoting
patient safety, respectively. Essentially, one significant key issue from the event previously discussed,
relates to my inability to deliver medications at the specified time. It is important to administer drugs
on time to maintain patient safety, since late medications may result in ineffective treatments and
unstable patient conditions. Analysis As previously mentioned, right time medication administration is
important to prevent patient harm. Medications are considered late when they are delivered beyond 30
minutes of the scheduled time or depending on the hospital policy. Certain medications, such as
antibiotics and Parkinson disease drugs, follow strict schedules to provide and maintain therapeutic
blood levels. In particular, antibiotics should be administered on time to prevent bacterial resistance

The United Kingdom s National Health Service Essay
For any successful organization, there should be effective communication, culture, decision making
processes as well as organizational learning just to mention a few. The United Kingdom s National
Health Service is an organization that primarily helps citizens be in charge of their health care. The
group started with the principles that quality healthcare should be available to all regardless of their
social status, in this event, easy access to health care. NHS has over 64 million people enrolled and
deals with over 1 million patients every 36 hours. The organization employs over 1.6 million
employees who make it among the world s top employers together with other organizations such as
Wal Mart, McDonalds, and U.S Department of Defense. The NHS is wholly funded by taxpayer s
money that means that a majority of the public is often interested in what is going on at the NHS. The
rationale of this paper, therefore, is to look at four aspects of an organization and specifically the NHS.
These aspects are organizational communication, organizational culture, management and leadership
as well as organizational change. The second part of the paper is the background that will provide an
organizational overview of the key strengths and the challenges faced by NHS. Moreover, the paper
also contains concepts and analysis of the organizational theory and behavior. This section also
provides a current assessment of the NHS and determines if it is responsive or not. With the analysis

Joel is the second of 12 Minor Prophets in the Old Testament of the Bible. He is placed between the
prophets Hosea and Amos; this information can be used later in determining the time in which his
book was written. The book of Joel is divided into four chapters. In the book there is no true
understanding about Joel himself, except his name and his father s name. The theme of the Book of
Joel is that salvation will come to Judah and Jerusalem only when the people turn to Yahweh. The
prophet Joel plays a very significant role in the Bible and also has a message of great importance to

It is known that his name signifies Jehovah is God . Joel always had an original approach when he
faced the problems in his time. Because of Joel s duty as a preacher of repentance he takes high
nobility among the twelve prophets. It is also stated that he is the son of Pethuel. Like Hosea, he [Joel]
distinguished himself from others of the same name, by the mention of his unknown father (Pusey
143). It can also be possible that Joel was an inhabitant of Judah, or even a citizen of Jerusalem. This
can be proven by the constant repetition of the words Zion and children of Zion (2: I, 23), and also of
Judah and Jerusalem (3: I, 6). Many scholars believe that Joel was also a priest because of his wide
range of knowledge of the Temple and also of the worship programs. It is concluded from the works
that Joel has written that he was a very literate person or according to John Watts, a literary prophecy
that is, prophecy composed to be read . This can be seen through Joel s extensive prophetic writing
and also in his poetic and descriptive writings. The best example is seen in the writings of the Locust
plague (2:3 11) and a drought (1:15 20). Although there are many diverse opinions of when Joel lived
or who he was, Yates gives the best overview of whom he was. I found Joel to be a very interesting

The Liberation From England s Despotism
In a very short time, the United States grew from thirteen small colonies that were governed by a
monarchy over 3,000 miles away into a self sustaining democratic nation of fifty states. The liberation
from England s despotism occurred not by accident or happenstance, but from a collective whole of
society whose moral resolve led to the famous phrase Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
(National Archives, 1776) written in America s Declaration of Independence 239 years ago. These
certain inalienable rights are our nation s backbone for what we stand for and what we believe in. Our
government, the government our forefather s created, is responsible for the freedoms we experience
on a daily basis. However, what are we doing as a nation to ensure that the same rights and reasons for
which they fought for are being preserved so that we not only retain our present way of life but also
improve upon it for ourselves and future generations to come? When government is spoken of often it
sounds as if it is its own entity enabled to make its own decisions free from repercussions as well as
accountability. As if it was a person that could be disciplined for misbehaving. The government did
this...or the government did that...or can you believe what they are doing in Washington? Have we
forgotten what President Lincoln said in his Gettysburg Address: ...That the nation, shall have a new
birth of freedom, and that government of the people by the people for the people, shall not

To section the hair, you need to decide the type of curls you want. That is, tight or loose. If you want
tight and well defined curls, make sure to section the hair into smaller portions. For best results, the

##bolisms Of Symbols In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
Bradbury employs several symbols in Fahrenheit 451 to develop a heavier plan. one in every of these
symbols includes the quantity on the helmet that Montag wears. within the initial chapter of
Fahrenheit 451, the storyteller says, with his symbolic helmet numbered 451 on his unemotional head
(Bradbury 1). 451 isn t AN absolute variety that Bradbury indiscriminately chose; all the firemen wear
this variety on their helmets as a result of it symbolizes the work they are doing. 451 is that the
temperature, in Fahrenheit, at that paper burns that area unit vital for the firemen WHO burns books.
Another example of symbolism would be the The Sieve and therefore the Sand the title of the second
section in Fahrenheit 451. The title refers to Montag s childhood, once he wont to attempt to fill a
sieve with sand. Once as a toddler he had Saturday upon a yellow sand dune by the ocean within the
middle of the blue and hot summer day, attempting to fill a sieve with sand, as a result of some cruel
full cousin had said... (Bradbury 74). The sand represents the data that he seeks, and therefore the
sieve represents his mind attempting to understand and retain this information (quizlet.com). Also,
Bradbury apply symbolism within the title of the primary section of the novel, The fireside and
therefore the Salamander. each fireside and Salamander area unit related to the hearth, But he knew
his mouth had solely emotional to mention salutation, then once she appeared hypnotised by the
Salamander on his arm and therefore the Phoenix disc on his chest... (Bradbury 4). Hearths

hearthmen wear salamander mental imagery on their uniforms and decision their motortruck a
salamander as a result of salamanders were once believed to measure in fire while not being consumed
by it.
Along with Bradbury s clever illustration of symbols, he conjointly incorporates irony to satirically

Technology In Electronic Music In The 20th And 21st Century
Discuss the development of musical form and its relation to technology in electronic music in the 20th
and 21st centuries. Music has evolved a lot since when it was only orchestral and vocal, but in the past
100 odd years music has really moved on. It has particularly been shaped by technology as it grew
more and more advanced. The most recent years of music have made a turn for, what some people
would say, the worse, but most people don t care about the reasons which I will mention below and
can still appreciate the music. This essay is going to cover what technology has done to music and
how it has created more freedom for most people when making music. Evidence of Egyptian musical
instruments dates to the Predynastic period [1], which is the late stone age, made and presumably
played by prehistoric people. They re most commonly discovered in the Swabian Alb region of
Germany. These are known as the earliest musical instruments which proves there was prehistoric
music, however nobody alive knows what it sounds like because it was never possible to record sound
back then. In prehistoric Egypt they invented whistles made out of shells. Clappers were also found by
archeologists. A clapper is a basic form of a percussion instrument. It consists of two long solid pieces
that are clapped together producing sound. Evidence of lyres and lutes and metal cymbals were found.
In Ancient Greece many other instruments were invented and we have evidence of this. Over a huge

Peta Animal Rights
Although we have, in theory, abolished human slavery, recognized women s rights, and stopped child
labor, we continue to enslave other species who, if we simply pay attention, show quite clearly that
they experience parental love, pain, and the desire for freedom, just as we do once said Ingrid
Newkirk, beloved animal rights activist and cofounder of the largest animal rights organizations,
PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. There is a much bigger picture than which lies
centered on the human species. Earth is inhabited with a rich variety of about eight million species,
most of which have been thought to exist for millions of years before humans evolved. The array of

The admired biologist and conservationist E.O. Wilson once said, we should preserve every scrap of
biodiversity as priceless while we learn to use it and come to understand what it means to humanity.
This quote seems to encompass the overall main goal of zoologists: to preserve biodiversity, and while
we have it, study and examine it, and make discoveries that could help save all those on this planet.
Dr. Tim Cockerel, in a published interview with BBC, defined his job as a zoologist as someone who
studies species from anything to the diversity of animals, to how animals interact with other living
things, to how animals and humans interact with each other, and how we can make plans to save
threatened or endangered species for the future years to come (Cockerill). The typical zoologist
observes animals in a variety of settings, while studying behavioral tendencies, their natural habitat,
and how their acquired traits are passed down from generation to generation. Some daily activities of a
zoologist include dissection of animal specimens, preparation of slides of disease tissue under
microscopes, studying aggression or mating behaviors, testing the effects of drugs on animals, and
directing biological technicians who work alongside them. They may write scientific reports,
inventory or estimate wildlife populations, consult with management systems, must articulate well and
understand others. Many people who are involved in this field publish articles about their recent
research. The typical employers of zoologists include government departments, universities, private
research firms, biotechnology companies, zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, pharmaceutical agriculture, or
food research companies, environmental consulting firms, and possibly other private organizations. A

  • 2. 12-Step Group Meeting 12 Step Program Group Visit For this assignment, I chose to attend an open group meeting for Overeaters Anonymous on 6/29/2015. The group participates in the H.O.W. program of Overeaters Anonymous. H.O.W. stands for the principles of honesty, open mindedness, and willingness. The meeting took place at St. Andrew s Episcopal Church, located at 2535 East Broadway St. in Pearland. The format for this meeting was an open meeting. The meeting was an informal, but structured meeting, observing both the 12 Step recovery approach, and the Overeaters Anonymous 12 Traditions. The only requirement for Overeaters Anonymous membership is the desire to stop eating compulsively. My principle motivations for attending this meeting included the self awareness, ... Service: Carrying this message to other people who are addicted to food so they can learn how these principles may change their lives. 12 Step recovery programs utilize both open and closed meeting formats. Open meeting format is welcomes everyone, including non addicts who wish to attend in support of a loved one or to gain knowledge and understanding. Closed meetings accept and consist of only recovering addicts. Regardless of the meeting type, these meetings have some general expectations: Every attendee deserves respect. Personal experiences are shared voluntarily; if someone wishes to remain silent, they can. Some meetings may include speakers who can share their own insights. Only first names are used, and attendance is never disclosed outside of a meeting. Any money gathered is given by choice; no fees are ever demanded. Although meetings may be held in public spaces or religious buildings, no affiliation should be assumed. Overeaters Anonymous utilizes a peer support system, reassuring each member that they are not alone, and are not the only ones who have an addiction to food. The goal is to remain abstinent with overeating. This accomplished by face to face meetings three times per week, sponsorship, in which the recovering person makes four telephone contacts per day with their sponsor, self analysis writing exercises, as well as reference literature and eating ... • 3. Lady Liberty Research Paper The Statue of Liberty, also known as Lady Liberty, for me is the most intriguing part of New York City. It is a symbol of hope, freedom, and a better life in the United States. It is widely known that Lady Liberty was the first thing immigrants saw when they came to America, this architectural structure was a symbol of hope and freedom. What intrigues me the most is, Why would France just give us a an expensive copper statue? I never understood this until right now, everyone knows what she symbolizes, she is the Statue of Liberty. The word liberty is related to the word liberated , which means to free. For example, U.S. soldiers helped liberate Jews from the concentration camps in Germany after World War 2. The statue was given to us to represent freedom, the concept on which our great country was born on. Not just any freedom, a true freedom, a freedom in which we are not subservient to a king. In a sense, we are being liberated from being servants to the kingdom. It is our country and we want to protect and defend it because we are fighting for a cause, not just some person who wears a crown because of the family he was born in to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To understand this you need to go back in history to the 1790 s when France was fighting there Revolutionary War. They followed the ways of the United States by starting the French Revolution in the kingdom of France. The bourgeois or middle class believed the citizens should have a part in the politics of their country and should not be run by a few aristocrats. France wanted true freedom like the U.S.A., they wanted to be liberated from there kings like us. The Statue of Liberty represents that freedom. The U.S. was the first major country to become independent successfully and re imagine politics, this led the French to do the same, which led to a long friendship with ... • 4. Examples Of Chivalry Examine the representation of the chivalric model of gender relations in the work of J. S. Mill and John Ruskin In the mid nineteenth century women s choices were severely limited; their lives were slightly better than those of slaves. They were expected to obey men unquestionably. This essay will focus on Ruskin s Sesame and Lilies and J. S. Mill s The Subjection of Women; paying particular attention to the representation of chivalry in general and gender relations and equality in specific. The essay will demonstrate Ruskin and Mill s contrasting positions, demonstrating that Ruskin presents chivalry favorably as a positive concept. Mill, on the other hand, portrays chivalry as a backward concept, believing that the concept still stands between the savageness and civilization, and is not something to be asking for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an example, he shows that women were ill treated in the kingdoms of Asia, and states that Women are not only practically ill treated, but theoretically despised; the whole honor of family is considered to be bound up in its women. He also states that chivalry was developed as an ideology in the Middle Ages in order initiate social progress, but there were argues that this was erroneous as such concept stands between savage life and the civilized life. For Mill, treating women in a good way is the mark of civilization. At first, this statement seems poorly considered as Mill does not define what he means by good treatment. However, he eventually explains that it does not mean to idealize or worship women; nor treat them as jewelry putting them in a safe place to protect them from dangers. In both cases, women would be objectified and valued only their beauty. For Mill, this is not the right way to appreciate women, which forms a large part of his definition of civilized , and this is the main reason that he stands against ... David Whitman, Whirlpool CEO, 1994 Quoted in the Harvard Business Review In 1989, Whirlpool Corporation (Whirlpool) embarked on an ambitious global expansion with the objective of becoming the world market leader in home appliances. Beginning with the purchase of a majority stake in an appliance company owned by Philips, the Dutch electronics firm, Whirlpool purchased a majority stake in an Indian firm, established four joint ventures in China, and made significant new investments in its Latin America operations. However, by the mid 1990s, serious problems had emerged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The four main players Whirlpool, General Electric, Maytag, and White Consolidated, which had been acquired by Electrolux were beating one another up everyday.4 With limited growth opportunities and a handful of major players in the United States, it was critical that firms focus on cost reduction, productive efficiency, and product quality. Product innovation was also critical, although few major innovations had occurred in recent years. The apppliance firms segmented their products according to different consumers needs, and each strived to achieve greater economies of scale. Still, by the end of the 1990s, the competitive landscape remained unattractive. Profit margins continued to decline for most firms. Many analysts believed that the market for appliances was saturated and that there would be little increase in growth rates. This saturation had left the distributors focusing primarily on replacement purchases and purchases for new housing developments. • 6. Definition Essay On Good Analysis Good Jesse Roux The True, Good, and Beautiful March 17, 2017 As we have learned by defining truth and how it is based on an unwavering and dogmatic stance, which is faith in God Love, and is absolute. Absolute truth starts with God and ends with God, truth looks at the Bible for what it is and what it says, and not with independence or interpretation. Now, what is good and can we define it? In the American society, it is evident that individuals want to brand good as personally defined and not absolute, however, for something to be truly good , it has to be good for the whole world, meaning it cannot constantly change between persons. Therefore, what is good must be defined by something unchanging, for that reason, what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His goodness is unity, oneness, without division, it looks at truth for definition, it is absolute love, it places every person higher than themselves, and it does not worry or take thought about things that are not beneficial for love. Christ is the perfect example for truth and goodness. He is truly relational to God, he accepted the whole world in love by dying for them to include murderers, pedophiles, enemies, the oppressed, the racist, the tax collectors, the sexually immoral, the slave, every nationality, those who continually struggle with sin, etc. Jesus was and is impartial; he is the definition of truth, which leads to goodness. Goodness as defined by truth is our guidance for how to live, reason, communicate, and comprehend in a secular world. Without a firm stance on what is good, based on absolute truth, we (again) would be left to find the answers for ourselves in a modernist and postmodernist fashion. As without truth, the result leaves one empty while searching and finding nothing truly good. Therefore, we must focus on truth and what it tells us to define good, because what is good is the byproduct of absolute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Finding Solace At The Blacklist Essay I recently told an employee of mine that The Blacklist has been fun to watch through its first two episodes of its fourth season. I have always been a big fan of The Blacklist, considering it was the first show I reviewed for SpoilerTV. This may be why I am overly critical of each and every episode, however, I rarely, if ever, belittle the show (even during what I thought was an unsatisfactory and imperfect season three). I find solace in ratings, for some reason, which is why I tend to list them in the beginning of my reviews. I find they are an important indicator (although the current system is a tad outdated) of a show s progress. With that in mind, The Blacklist has not done so well in the ratings department since its imaginative and incredible freshman season. However, the ratings are not so bad as to worry us about its future on our television screens. The latest chapters, Esteban and Mato , have had modest viewership. The premiere garnering an ok 6.4 million viewers with Mato losing some of them and getting 5.99 million. I mention all of this because The Blacklist is one of my favorite shows on television at the moment and should have much more viewers than they currently have. I also mention this because I think this Season 4, although only two episodes in, seems to be heading back to its Season 1 roots, which made me say out loud to my employee that I could sum up this season so far with one word fun . The first two episodes this season have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Way of Tlachtli Essay Since the early 1400s BCE, people of this era have played one of the earliest known forms of a sport that involves two teams and a rubber ball played on a court. Based on archaeological evidence, Tlachtli (which translates in English to ball game ) is thought to have been played by the civilizations of Mesoamerica including the Aztec, Maya, Olmec, and Toltec. The game was more than a sport to these people. It was a means of settling conflicts and maintaining social harmony, it was a very important part in the ritualistic lives of those cultures. The most fascinating aspect of this sport is what set it apart from other ritual based events of these cultures. Based on how you played in the ball game was a matter of life and death. As seen ... For the Mesoamerican cultures of this area, rubber was an important material valued as sacred and ceremonial. A unique substance that is neither solid nor liquid, rubber played an important role in the everyday lives of Mesoamerican people. The most creative use of rubber was not for agriculture, construction, or warfare, but a deadly ceremonial sport. Murals found at a dig site in Teotihuacan suggests that at one point, this sport was played with wooden sticks, but the most common played method of the game used no extra equipment; players kept the ball in play using their hips. While the game play varied from city to city, the game rules of play were basically the same throughout Mesoamerica of that era. The game was played in large stone courts and informally on fields in major Mesoamerican cities. Proof shows that Aztec games were eventually played with stone hoops where players could score points by hitting the hoop with the ball or win the game outright by getting the ball through the hoop. Tlachtli was a serious matter to the players and to the cultures of Mesoamerica. The game was intense and serious and sometimes fatal injuries were inflicted by the solid, heavy nine pound ball. Back when Spain controlled the area, Spanish chronicler Diego Durán explained that some bruises caused by the ball were so bad that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I m still afraid of social stigma for being public about my appreciation for the show. Bussey and Bandura would suggest that this is a standard practice for fathers reacting more negatively to their son s gender infractions. For many people, it is hard to see men occupy a feminized space and still see them as masculine. After discovering the Brony fandom, many people have questions regarding the sexuality of the fandom such as the following Yahoo Answers post from a concerned parent of a fan: Well I just created my account, so I can ask this. Yesterday I came home from work early, and I walked up to my 15 year old sons [sic] room. When I opened it, I saw him with headphones watching My little pony . He didn t notice me, so I just acted like nothing happened. Could he be gay, or just likes the show? Update: Please explain what a brony is. Are they a gay group of men? Or sonthing [sic] else? Learning that his adolescent son is watching a cartoon about ponies, this parent draws the conclusion that his child is gay. His assumptions demonstrate how members of society regard masculine space because enjoying ponies relegates young men into an effeminate position. Non Gravitational Effects On Jupiter s Satellites Non gravitational effects on Jupiter s satellites The non gravitational forces affecting on the natural satellites orbits were studied recently using observations. This effect creates a quadratic term in orbital longitude and a secular changing of the semi major axis. Causes may be only hypothetical. It is assumed that the causes of the effects are in the tides in the body of the planet and in the body of satellite (Emelyanov 2015; private communication). Lainey et al. (2009) considered an extensive set of astrometric observations from 1891 to 2007 to study the orbital tidal evolution of the innermost Jovian satellite Io. They integrated numerically the full equations of motion for the satellite center s mass. It is noteworthy that Io s tidal heat comes from the orbital energy of the Io Jupiter system (resulting in orbital acceleration), whereas dissipation of energy in Jupiter causes Io s orbital motion to declare. They used a weighted least squares inversion procedure and minimized the differences between the observed and computed positions of the satellites to determine the parameters of the model. The solution for the tidal dissipation gives for Io, and for Jupiter, where, is the love number and is the quality value. • 16. The Significance of the Frontier in American History How does Turner explain the recurring need for communication and transportation along the American frontier? What Turner wants to point out here is that the American West is the most important feature of American history, and of the development of its society. He refers several times to a process of Americanization and we will see that the definition he gives of it is a very peculiar one. He gives a definition of the frontier: it lies at the hither edge of free land , meaning that he considers the Indian territory to be free land. According to him the frontier is the meeting point between savagery and civilization , the most rapid and effective Americanization . The process of Americanization he refers to is in fact a double ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Year by year the farmers who lived on soil, whose returns were diminished by unrotated crops were offered the virgin soil of the frontier at nominal prices. Their growing families demanded more lands, and these were dear. The competition of the unexhausted, cheap, and easily tilled prairie lands compelled the farmer either to go west and continue the exhaustion of the soil on a new frontier, or to adopt intensive culture. Thus the census of 1890 shows, in the Northwest, many counties in which there is an absolute or a relative decrease of population. These States have been sending farmers to advance the frontier on the Plains, and have themselves begun to turn to intensive farming and to manufacture. A decade before this, Ohio had shown the same transition stage. Thus the demand for land and the love of wilderness freedom drew the frontier ever onward. Having now roughly outlined the various kinds of frontiers and their modes of advance, chiefly from the point of view of the frontier itself, we may next inquire what were the influences on the East and on the Old World. A rapid enumeration of some of the more noteworthy effects is all that I have time for. First, we note that the frontier promoted the formation of a composite nationality for the American people. One possible reading is to say that the omission of YHWH s voice in the attack is the reason that they were defeated. A trip that consisted of long lines and other customers screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard earned plastic bags if you could do something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won t be wasted. A rope can be used for many things including tug of war, tire swing, etc. If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor space. Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more difficult. For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam under the plastic bag s handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. • 28. Two Major Components Of Lactate Dehydrogenase In Biology Lactate dehydrogenase is an enzyme that is found in most living organisms which catalyzes the conversion of lactate to pyruvic acid. It converts NAD+ to NADH and back again. Pyruvate is converted to lactate when oxygen isn t present and the reverse reaction takes place (Wikipedia). There are two major subunits of lactate dehydrogenase which are the M form and the H form. The M form, major subunit in muscles, is efficient in the conversion of pyruvate to lactate. The H form, major subunit in the heart, is efficient in the conversion of lactate to pyruvate. Despite the differences in structure of the M and H form, there s enough similarity for hybrids of the M and H form to form (Goodsell). The oxidization of lactate requires the binding of NAD+ to the enzyme first before lactate. A hydride ion is rapidly transferred in either direction yielding a mixture of the two teranary complexes, enzyme NAD+ lactate and enzyme NADH pyruvate. The dissociation of pyruvate from the enzyme followed by NADH takes place. The rate of dissociation of NADH is the rate limiting step. This remains valid in the reverse reaction as the binding of NADH takes place first and then the substrate, pyruvate, is able to bind (Busby). The reverse reaction of pyruvate to lactate is the thermodynamically favored reaction. • 29. Systems Theory 1. Systems theory and the Ecological perspective As a social worker, one must understand the impact of systems in the environment. The interactions between the individual and their multiple systems give social workers a visual of how to interpret their consumer s life. System theories is one way to try to interpret a consumer s life to have somewhat of a general idea of how to help solve the problems they are facing. The easiest way to view system theories are by creating ecomaps. These maps give you a visual written in black and white to see the different systems that the individual interacts with. To understand this concept in the field, a social worker, must know what a system even is. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I of course have stressful situations and recieve negative input or output, but who doesnt? Feedback is extremely important for systems and is a type of input. A system can have either positive feedback (a system recieving info that what they are doing is correct) or negative feedback (influences the individual to make a change because it interupts homeostasis). Throughout most of my ecomap, I mostly have positive feedback but also have a few negative feedbacks. Systems tend to move from a simple form to a more complex form. This is known as differentiation. The Montessori Method Essay The Montessori Method (Word count includes Annotated Bibliography) The Montessori method began in the early 1900 s by the first female doctor in Italy, Dr. Mary Montessori, as a way of educating mentally disabled children. Her ideas were so successful with these children that she began to apply her understanding of learning to study the potential of normally functioning children (Oalf, 2001). Dr. Montessori s approach to education stresses the importance of learning styles, independence and responsibility. There may be 15 or more activities, or ?jobs? as they are called in some Montessori classrooms, occurring at the same time with small groups or individual work, yet the classroom remains quiet, yet busy and productive, sometimes with the soft hush of classical music playing in the background. Many Montessori school classrooms place a card around the child?s neck with the day?s objectives written in the form of a checklist for the students to monitor themselves. This checklist encourages the students to take responsibility for their own learning, as well as discourages prompt dependence, since the student need not wait for instruction. Some of the activities in a Montessori classroom include reading, pre reading using phonics, math, discovery science and writing. Children learn skills in a way that he or she is not aware that learning is taking place. For example, a child playing in the sand box with a small rake is not aware that he or she is learning fine motor skills and how to hold and control a pencil. Another observation in a Montessori classroom is that most classrooms tend to span three grade levels. This practice allows to children to become mentors to younger students. Also, the large gap in developmental levels allows children to ?learn at their own pace? (Keller, 2001), which is another important Montessori ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, these emotions were heightened by feelings of not being able to deliver the best possible care and thoughts of my nurses being disappointed in me because of my poor performance. Essentially, these negative feelings arise from my values and beliefs of being punctual and providing safe and high quality care. These values are shaped by my family and profession as I was always disciplined and taught the importance of being on time and promoting patient safety, respectively. Essentially, one significant key issue from the event previously discussed, relates to my inability to deliver medications at the specified time. It is important to administer drugs on time to maintain patient safety, since late medications may result in ineffective treatments and unstable patient conditions. Analysis As previously mentioned, right time medication administration is important to prevent patient harm. Medications are considered late when they are delivered beyond 30 minutes of the scheduled time or depending on the hospital policy. Certain medications, such as antibiotics and Parkinson disease drugs, follow strict schedules to provide and maintain therapeutic blood levels. In particular, antibiotics should be administered on time to prevent bacterial resistance and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joel always had an original approach when he faced the problems in his time. Because of Joel s duty as a preacher of repentance he takes high nobility among the twelve prophets. It is also stated that he is the son of Pethuel. Like Hosea, he [Joel] distinguished himself from others of the same name, by the mention of his unknown father (Pusey 143). It can also be possible that Joel was an inhabitant of Judah, or even a citizen of Jerusalem. This can be proven by the constant repetition of the words Zion and children of Zion (2: I, 23), and also of Judah and Jerusalem (3: I, 6). Many scholars believe that Joel was also a priest because of his wide range of knowledge of the Temple and also of the worship programs. It is concluded from the works that Joel has written that he was a very literate person or according to John Watts, a literary prophecy that is, prophecy composed to be read . This can be seen through Joel s extensive prophetic writing and also in his poetic and descriptive writings. The best example is seen in the writings of the Locust plague (2:3 11) and a drought (1:15 20). • 36. The Liberation From England s Despotism In a very short time, the United States grew from thirteen small colonies that were governed by a monarchy over 3,000 miles away into a self sustaining democratic nation of fifty states. The liberation from England s despotism occurred not by accident or happenstance, but from a collective whole of society whose moral resolve led to the famous phrase Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (National Archives, 1776) written in America s Declaration of Independence 239 years ago. These certain inalienable rights are our nation s backbone for what we stand for and what we believe in. Our government, the government our forefather s created, is responsible for the freedoms we experience on a daily basis. However, what are we doing as a nation to ensure that the same rights and reasons for which they fought for are being preserved so that we not only retain our present way of life but also improve upon it for ourselves and future generations to come? When government is spoken of often it sounds as if it is its own entity enabled to make its own decisions free from repercussions as well as accountability. As if it was a person that could be disciplined for misbehaving. The government did this...or the government did that...or can you believe what they are doing in Washington? • 39. Technology In Electronic Music In The 20th And 21st Century Discuss the development of musical form and its relation to technology in electronic music in the 20th and 21st centuries. Music has evolved a lot since when it was only orchestral and vocal, but in the past 100 odd years music has really moved on. It has particularly been shaped by technology as it grew more and more advanced. The most recent years of music have made a turn for, what some people would say, the worse, but most people don t care about the reasons which I will mention below and can still appreciate the music. This essay is going to cover what technology has done to music and how it has created more freedom for most people when making music. Evidence of Egyptian musical instruments dates to the Predynastic period [1], which is the late stone age, made and presumably played by prehistoric people. They re most commonly discovered in the Swabian Alb region of Germany. These are known as the earliest musical instruments which proves there was prehistoric music, however nobody alive knows what it sounds like because it was never possible to record sound back then. In prehistoric Egypt they invented whistles made out of shells. Clappers were also found by archeologists. A clapper is a basic form of a percussion instrument. It consists of two long solid pieces that are clapped together producing sound. Evidence of lyres and lutes and metal cymbals were found. In Ancient Greece many other instruments were invented and we have evidence of this. Over a huge amount ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote seems to encompass the overall main goal of zoologists: to preserve biodiversity, and while we have it, study and examine it, and make discoveries that could help save all those on this planet. Dr. Tim Cockerel, in a published interview with BBC, defined his job as a zoologist as someone who studies species from anything to the diversity of animals, to how animals interact with other living things, to how animals and humans interact with each other, and how we can make plans to save threatened or endangered species for the future years to come (Cockerill). The typical zoologist observes animals in a variety of settings, while studying behavioral tendencies, their natural habitat, and how their acquired traits are passed down from generation to generation. Some daily activities of a zoologist include dissection of animal specimens, preparation of slides of disease tissue under microscopes, studying aggression or mating behaviors, testing the effects of drugs on animals, and directing biological technicians who work alongside them. They may write scientific reports, inventory or estimate wildlife populations, consult with management systems, must articulate well and understand others. Many people who are involved in this field publish articles about their recent research.
