Synthesis of metal nanoparticles using biological systems
The synthesis of metal nanoparticles using biological systems is an expanding research area
where it finds its use as nanomedicines. Nano particles synthesized by chemical methods are
not eco – friendly. The biological synthesis of silver particles is convenient and
environmentally safe. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized from AgNo3 by using the leaves
of Andrographis paniculata. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized using UV
spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and Scanning electron microscope. The particle size
was found to be 35 – 55 nm by means of XRD AND SEM. The antiplasmoidal activity of these
nanoparticles was studied against Plasmodium falciparum. It was also found to have anti –
parasitic properties. The important outcome of this study will be the development of value
added products from medicinal plants of India for biomedical and nanotechnology based
industries. Andrographis paniculata reduce the number of aberrant cells and frequencies of
aberration per cell at each concentration and duration of exposure in vivo
Keywords – silver nanoparticles, anti – parasitic activity , UV, XRD and SEM.
