Introduction Dental caries is one of the major oral health problems in the world affecting infants, children and adults. There are many factors that influence dental caries. Of all these factors, diet plays an important role and within diet, sugar is the major cause of dental caries. Sugars also increase the risk of other health problems, such as obesity, diabetes, heart diseases, etc. Tips to Prevent Dental Caries in Children Develop healthy dietary habits in children by introducing healthy options early in life. Don’t add any sugars to baby’s food and drink. Limit the amount and frequency of sugar containing food and drinks. Choose healthy alternatives such as drinking milk and water instead of sugars-containing drinks. Encourage children to eat more fruits, vegetables, unsweetened breakfast cereals and grains than junk food. Avoid the consumption of long-lasting sources of sugars. These stick to teeth and cause tooth decay.

This is Catalyst's overview of how you can start making positive changes in your school to support healthy eating.
Here's what the presentation covers:
First we’ll talk a little bit about why we need healthy food in schools, and what the food is like at our schools.
Then we’re are going to break for two rounds of Catalyst’s “Family Food.” It’s like the game show Family Feud, but all about food, healthy eating, and what food is like at school. We’ve been talking with students at our schools to get their thoughts about food in general and about the food that’s offered at school, and in this game, you’ll have a chance to guess what they’re thinking.
We also want to talk about what we can do to get things moving in our schools and make sure we have healthy options that taste good. So first we’ll talk a little about questions you might get from your principal and food service staff if you talk to them about starting to make changes.
Then we’ll work in small groups and plan out some first steps you can take, like setting up a meeting to talk to your principal and food service staff.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Tulsa Mayor’s wife – Ms Victoria Bartlett told the children a story
while quizzing them
“I spoke to the children at Penn Elementary School equating the
story of the Three Little Pigs to building a strong body and a healthy
life. The Big Bad Wolf represented illness, disease and scary death,
and the building options of straw, sticks and bricks represented the
choices of foods we eat. With poor eating habits, our bodies are no
stronger than a home built with straw or sticks and susceptible to
being brought down by illness and disease. By eating a complete
diet of healthy foods we are building our bodies to be as strong as
bricks and we will be able to resist the illnesses that could tear them
down. Well, the kids enjoyed the interactive story. I thought it was
better than laboring them with a string of statistics on childhood
obesity.”
