- 27. National Housing Federation, together with tenants • Purpose - Strengthening the relationship between housing associations and their tenants and residents. • The four actions : 1. A new requirement in our Code of Governance for boards to be accountable to their tenants and residents. 2. A new charter setting out what tenants and residents can expect from their housing association landlord. 3. Tenant and resident oversight and scrutiny of the charter with a report on how their landlord is doing against charter commitments. 4. A closer link with regulation. - 31. My three top tips 1. Link to your purpose – if it’s not contributing to your outcomes, it won’t work 2. There is no silver bullet – requires board ownership, involve others in creating the plan, recognise the cultural as well as structure/ process change 3. Be clear on oversight - show how you are being held to account, report progress, welcome scrutiny (ideally independent) and challenge, share the good and not so good news @cfpscrutiny/ @jacquimck
