A Research On Technology Management
Technology Management It is the innovation in the working environment permits organizations to
grow rapidly and effectively. Business innovation, for example, video conferencing, interpersonal
organizations and virtual office innovation has evacuated work environment limits that beforehand
constrained business development. With business innovation, organizations can focus on a more
extensive client base and develop to larger amounts. Office innovation spares times by accelerating
the work process. Computerized documenting frameworks spare space, paper and printing costs.
The utilization of computerised systems like robots permit remedies to be made in a flash. Assets
like electronic records and access to data innovation are accessible with the snap of a catch. (Scott,
n.d.) Haigh's have all the computerised facilities to run a business including taking orders online.
Now there is the introduction of a new technology named Baxter–the robot. A 'cooperative robot'
designed to work securely alongside people, will make his debut at Haigh's Adelaide factory just
after the chocolatier's busy Easter period and is advertised to revolutionise Australia's manufacturing
industry. Baxter was created by Adelaide–born Rodney Brooks in 2012. Baxter is an answer for
makers of all sizes. Notwithstanding its extraordinarily low value point, Baxter offers six central
contrasts that recognize it from customary mechanical robots: – No programming – No security
confines – Streamlined joining –

How Technology Has Changed Our Lives
Robotic Future Growing up in a low income family was miserable. The small two story six–hundred
square foot house was home to four families which consisted of father, mother, son or daughter.
There were no English speakers in the house except for my sister and I. Cartoon Network was the
most popular network and I was finally able to watch it for the first time. Some words were still not
being processed in my brain but I started understanding how they were used. When I was able to use
a computer it was like opening my mind to how modern technology impacts our lives. That's when
my fascination for technology grew. I wanted to believed there was more that we could do with
technology. Zoids, Gundam, and Pacific Rim showed me how much dedication people put into these
great creations and I believed in myself to hopefully one day make these creations from dream to
reality. I watched how these robots helped people they were seen as modern marvels and the pilots
of these suits are seen as heroes.
The first show I fell in love was called Zoids: New Century was airing and I was never so
overwhelmed by towering mechanical animals fighting each other. This consisted of three people
teams and they fought in a tournament style fights. Where the victors get a grand prize. Although
these beasts were robotics nothing more brought up my curiosity than when I saw a pilot controlling
these beasts. I became breathless to the fact that human beings are able to create such mystical

Advantages Of Lito Laminated Carton
1. VALUE PROPOSITION
Introduction
The product that I have chosen is Litho Laminated Boxes to introduce to Lithotech as a new
product.
Litho–laminated packaging is a high value product which provides maximum strength to protect
your product but also allows a consumer to brand the packaging with high quality print quality
which stands out on retail shelves. A litho laminated box is the same as a corrugated box which is an
excellent material for shipping as it offers excellent protection for the products. Litho laminated
cartons are geared for customers requiring higher print quality and greater strength than folding
cartons. A litho laminated carton is manufactured by mounting a board or paper to a single flute
corrugated sheet. The board ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When necessary based on their history I will contact them to see when they will be next purchasing
or how there stock levels are of the products.
When approaching new potential customers to set up appointments I will have everything written
down in front of me of what I am going to say to avoid any stuttering. This also makes me more
confident. Most of my calls I will make on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning around 10am. I will
also be very friendly and polite and try to be as confident as possible and will always have the
attitude that I have nothing to lose by making the phone call. Persistence will pay off so I will call as
many people as I possibly can in an hour. Take a break for an hour and then make calls again for
another hour.
I will use my linked in account which normally leads to industries been linked and will try to find
potential customers on that base.
I will also arrange that our company will produce litho laminated boxes branded with our company's
branding and use one of our existing clients that manufacture eg biscuits to fill the boxes. These
boxes of biscuits I will give to potential customers when I meet with them face to

Personal Narrative Essay About Homeless People In New York
Imagine this picture in your head. You're walking up and down the streets of New York, and
everywhere you turn it seems like there's another homeless person. They wear tattered clothing and
have streaks of dirt across their face and their arms. Last year on spring break when I was thirteen
years old, my mom,my grandparents, and I were on a vacation in New York City. A few days after
looking around and touring New York I noticed something that I hadn't really seen in any other city
before. That was the amount of homeless people on the streets. Of course, I had seen homeless
people before, but I had never seen this many in such a small area at one time. This was a really sad
thing to witness, and it made me really appreciate the things I have in life. ... Show more content on

I remember one day in particular when I was about seven. I was walking down the street with my
grandad ,and someone came up to us and asked us if we had any money. I knew for a fact that my
grandfather had a twenty dollar bill in his wallet ,but for some odd reason he denied having any
money. When I asked him about it I remember him telling me, "this man is just going to turn around
and use this money to buy drugs."Hearing this as a 7 year old, I didn't really know what to think of
it. In my head I was asking myself how. As in, how does my grandad know what this man is going
to use this money on.? How is it possible to assume such a big thing about someone without ever
meeting that person before? It just really didn't seem logical at the

Causes Of Homelessness In America
Homelessness is a big part of our society. We see them every day. We see them sitting by the road on
a cardboard box and holding a sign asking for help. According to the article "Top Causes of
Homelessness in America," by Home aid stated that 3.5 million Americans are homeless in America.
There are things can cause people to become homeless, such as losing a job or getting fired, getting
a divorce, natural disaster, and loss of a loved one. Other reasons why a person decides to remain
homeless. It could be doing drug or drinking alcohol can both lead to a result of violence or mental
illness. The three most common causes of homelessness are the natural disaster, divorce and losing a
job.
First, the primary cause of the homelessness is the natural disaster. A flood, hurricane, or earthquake
can be big and it can destroy people's house and their belonging. According to the article
"Everybody Deserves a Roof," added that about 700,000 Americans became homeless after
hurricane Katrina in 2005." People suffered severe material damage and lost their important things
like credit cards and documents. Many became homeless after the natural disaster because they
didn't get enough help from the organization and the government. Natural disasters also cause lots of
death, and homeless people get affected the most. Natural disasters not just cause lots of death but it
also spread diseases. For example flooding can result in polluted water, which can let to bacterial in
water. When a

Pros And Cons Of Govr
When the mouse was developed, it revolutionized everything. Everybody is now able to point to an
item on the screen. Not with arrow keys. But naturally with movement. When touch came to
Smartphones, well it actually allowed the development of smartphones more or less, it
revolutionized everything again. There was never a closer connection between user and content. And
now, a new revolution could come: Virtual Reality. It allows the user to enter a complete isolated,
imagined world, which is fully controlled by its creator. In the technology sector VR is seen as one
of the key achievments which will influence our future. Despite challenges media should do the
same to create a better experience than ever before. Yes, there are challenges about VR But first
things first: VR is a completely new technology. A result of this is its low spread. There are probably
about 20,000,000 VR–Systems in action today. And news become even worse: there are many
completely different systems out there. The range starts at Google Cardboards and probalby ends at
Oculus Rift. And not only systems differ but also performance of these. Google ... Show more

The creator of the content controls everything. He defines if the user can get distracted or not. And if
he decides the user can be distracted, the creator can decide by what the user will be distracted.
Furthermore: if the user puts on the VR–glasses, he will be more willing to invest some time to
explore the worlds he will see. This is another strength of VR. You can build interactive worlds. The
communication between text and reader, video and watcher is just one–sided. One recieves
information the other part is the information. VR is probalby the first format that allows real
interactivity like in computer games. You could build complete cities, make the user part of your
story. The user could explore, learn, talk to people in your world. For the first time the user can

What Are The Reasons That Make Polar Bears Live In The...
Environmental advertising usually becomes dull, and ignored, so companies and organizations
which are interested in this aspect have focused on the visual and conceptual side for an
advertisement because they have a huge influence to attract the viewers. So, now most global
warming's advertisements exhibit the dangers of global warming and how they harm the
environment and the animals that live within it by the visual and conceptual side. Therefore,
Ecoeduca's advertisement has many of the visual effects like the colors, place, and text. In
Ecoeduca's advertisement "Global Warming is Leaving Many Homeless" that the viewers will see
polar bears which live in a cardboard box and not in the Arctic region where they belong, so the
spectators will be wondering because they will be focusing in the picture and will be asking
themselves in a strange way "What are the reasons that make polar bears live in the cardboard box?"
In addition, the advertisement has a dark colors exception the white color ... Show more content on

When the viewers look to the advertisement, they will see polar bears with its cub live inside the

garbage and some tailings around the polar bears. Further, if the viewers focus in the advertisement
will note some water spill in the ground which it reflects the excess heat caused by global warming.
In conclusion, by the visual and conceptual effects the environmental advertisement now became
more accepted from people. As well, the effects have motivated for people by emotions. Therefore,
Ecoeduca uses specifically colors to stir the viewers' emotions to support this topic. Also, the
advertisement's characters and their situation stir the people's emotions too. In sum, Ecoeduca's

Cardboard Box: A Short Story

As expected the surfaces which had a smoother surface (Wood, Plastic Board) travelled faster than
the rougher surfaces due to the less contact with friction. The results showed effective and relevant
information that explain that the cardboard box results were very similar throughout the 3 trials.
These results were highly expected as we imagined. The results showed that the hypothesis was
corresponding to the results accurately Surfaces which had less friction travelled on the surfaces at a
much quicker speed.
This experiment can be improved by having more variety of surfaces so the trials can be fairer.
Timing how fast the cardboard box travelled down the surfaces can be improved. During the trials

Cardinality in Blind Children
Aim, objective and Hypothesis
The current study set out to explore the generalisability of counting behaviour and the understanding
of the cardinal principle in blind children. To date, research in this area has focused mainly on
typically developing children. Some researchers have undertaken studies in the atypical population;
however, this is limited to disorders such as Down syndrome (Caycho, Gunn & Siegal, 1991),
mental retardation (Baroody, 1986) and severe learning difficulties (Porter, 1998). Therefore,
children with visual impairment have not been given much attention in this field of research.
The aim of the first experiment will be to observe whether children are able to count objects with
varying degree of manipulation and mode of input, to assert the numerosity of the count. These
entail counting objects than can and cannot be separated from those that have been counted, as well
as the counting of sounds. The second experiment is designed to confirm the findings of experiment
one; hence, children who understood the cardinal principle will be able to detect error made by
others in counting. A further aim of the study will be to investigate whether smaller number words
are acquired before larger ones, as it is the case in typically developing children. The researcher
hypothesised that blind children's development will be slightly delayed in the younger age group,
but will not show significant differences in the older age group when compared to typically

Rocky Essay
Rocky
If you were to see Rocky for the first time and you were anything like most people, you would be
overcome by a feeling of repugnancy and disgust. This is because he is a homeless person. His real
name is Jack but people call him "Rocky" because of his 6'2" body and his somewhat larger than
normal muscles. He doesn't have the body of any average man. The combination of his light green
eyes, his long brown beard, and his long mocha hair falling down from his winter hat, which he
wears in every season, reminds me of a depiction of Jesus. But that's just pure physical appearance.
Most of the time, the hair around the rim of his mouth is covered by whatever food he just ate.

To add to his out–of–fashion and out–of–date sense of "style" the jacket has a hole the size of a fist
coming down the sleeve. During the summer, he wears it around his waist. It gives the image that
he's holding on to it for life since it's one of his only possessions, and now days you're measured as a
person by what you possess. One of his other "precious" items is a cardboard box in which he
sleeps. It looks very much like him–– old, worn, and dirty. The last of his possessions is a bottle of
glue that he sniffs to get high. He looks around pretending to care if people stare, but even if there's
people he goes ahead with his glue sniffing ritual.
He has had the same white, now dirty gray shirt with a bright red stain in the middle for as long as I
can remember. He wobbles when he walks, as a result of an injury he had some years back, which
created a hole that looks more like a well with a slightly darker skin tone around it. It's on his left
ankle so he's always slightly angled to the right to balance his weight, like the Leaning Tower of
Pizza.
He's not scary looking though, despite his unique garbage truck smell which some days is
unbearable. He can be friendly. I remember an instance when he walked someone he knew to a cab
and while holding the door open he politely uttered "ma'am" as she went in. This playfulness is one
of the traits that make him a bit more society friendly. In a way, his "society friendliness" is

Will and Ben turned to leave and left the study. They wandered about the house while thinking about
his grandfather's words. Suddenly he grabbed Ben and set out to find the door again. As they stood
outside the door they gathered up their courage and opened the door. They walked into an empty

room but apart from that the room was exactly the same. Will gave Ben a confused glance and
walked cautiously up to the table. He placed his hand on the table expecting something horrible to

Victims and Villains in The Speckled Band, The Cardboard...
Having read a range of detective stories by Conan Doyle, compare the presentations of victims and
villains in The Speckled Band and two other stories.
In this essay, I am going to look at how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, has written the Sherlock Holmes
stories, looking at the victims, villains,
Holmes and his dear friend Watson. The Sherlock Holmes, stories are written in the detective genre,
all of the stories that I have looked at to compile this essay, have a crime, victims, and villains. It
also shows this as there is always a crime that Sherlock Holmes solves, by his intelligence. The
intended audience of the stories, I think is for adults, even though there maybe some younger
readers, but they may not understand the story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This affects the body language, as they will become very protective, as they will become more
aware of what is happening around them. The gender of most victims in the stories is female, as they
are more vulnerable, as they are less likely to resist. Our expectations of the villains in the stories of
Sherlock Holmes are that the villains are generally male. Also the manners of the villains are likely
to be, calculating, so that they know what they are doing and where. They are mostly actors, so that
they can get people to think that they are someone different, so that they can get them to do things.
But sometimes they are likely to get ahead of themselves. The villains usually look rich and they
sometimes have scars from where they have been attacked by their victims. Their body language is
usually threatening, and jumping to conclusions. Plus some of them may carry a weapon.
A more modern example of a stereotype victim and villain is Ian
Huntley and the Soham murders. Huntley lied to the police about the murders, and he must have
been calculating as he knew exactly what he was doing.
Our expectation of Sherlock Holmes is that, he likes doing his job as a detective, but he does not
want to be the detective of a simple case. He always seems to solve the crime, by the means of
something that he can see. Take the cardboard box as an example, Holmes was given the box and

One of the most important purposes of physical evidence is to establish the identity of a suspect or
victim. Some of the most valuable clues at a crime scene are fingerprints. "Processing a crime
scene" is a long, tedious process that involves focused documentation of the conditions at the scene
and the collection of any physical evidence that could possibly shed light on what happened and

Both packs of cigarettes the pack that was removed from the carton and the ripped open pack on the

My Adulthood Memories And Memories Of A Childhood Home
Places are more than less often full of memories. Rooms have narratives that can be told through the
items and furniture they contain. These narratives are often overlooked and not thought about,
especially in places where one does not want to spend a particularly large amount of time. Rooms
speak, even though we often don't want to listen, or don't want to know. Basements are often like
this, full of broken thing and memories, knee–deep castaways, childhood toys and holiday lights.
The basement in my childhood home is this way, completely divided into then and now; simply,
entirely, depressing. This room is split into two distinct halves. The stairs are creaky and off–white,
stained grey and black from soda spills, muddy shoes, snow slush and dirty dog feet. Clumps of dog
hair sit in the corners of each step, wrapped up into dust balls. At the bottom, to the immediate left,
is where a playroom used to be. There are drawings and old bits of paper stuck up on the walls,
hinting as to what this space used to contain. Now, a large, professional–grade ping–pong table sits
in the middle of the room. Once loved, the table is now stacked high with towels and laundry. On
the wall parallel to the length of the table is a child's growth chart, drawn in Sharpie on the rigid

over 2000 written requests for interpretations and countless numbers of verbal requests. I hope we

indicates that a six–sided portable storage container can be a combustible or noncombustible
enclosed storage unit with varying dimensions ranging from small portable rental storage units to
large freight containers. The Technical Committee on Sprinkler System Discharge is unaware of fire
tests, and no design guidance is furnished. A table was also added as Table A.5.6, Examples of
Commodities Not Addressed by Classifications where one item listed is Storage Container – Large
container storage of household goods. That applies to your scenario. To get you started, check with
the client on the commodities that will be stored inside the portable moving containers. Typically,
household items have a range of commodity classifications from Class I through expanded Group A
plastics in the form of foam cushions or mattresses. Since the commodities may vary, the worse case
scenario of expanded Group A plastics may be a starting point. The container storage would not
qualify as rack storage and would match closer to solid pile storage arrangement. The decision tree

Robert Johnson Short Story
One sunny day in New York there was a guy named Robert Johnson, he was an abandoned child so
he did not know what his name was. His parents had left him because they could not afford to take
care of him when he was young, so he had no idea of what was going on. As he grew up he had hard
times of taking care of himself because he was not taught about the basic units of life from his
parents. There were many times where Robert had panic attacks that made him forget things, like
where he lives and what he was doing in New York. He always discovered different things that he
had never seen before and left him to wander. So, Robert had decided to search and learn about
more types of things throughout the streets of New York, for example, learning ... Show more

Personal Narrative Essay : The Decisions Of The Boxs
I walked around the truck to grab some boxes. My dad was already in working mode, putting all the
boxes in the house. I looked at my neighbor's house, that was a little too close to mine. These places
didn't believe in privacy or something. I carried boxes to and from the truck. I walked outside to
grab another box when I noticed a girl picking up something in the neighbor's yard. Her long auburn
hair was pulled into a ponytail. She didn't notice me, or even look my way. She walked into the
house, not even looking up.
I was bringing up the boxes to my room when I heard the doorbell ring. My dad answered it and
someone started talking. I walked down a few steps to eavesdrop. "–dinner tonight at five?" My dad
smiled and agreed. I quietly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She walked ahead of us and guided us to a dining room. A man was lighting the last of the candles
when he noticed us. " "Welcome! I made spaghetti for dinner, I hope that's okay." He welcomed us
and the girl stood next to him, I'm guessing he was her father. My dad laughed at something he said.
"I'm Steve, this is my daughter Aubrey." The girl smiled and my dad introduced us. "I'm Richard,
This is Maggie and Dean." I nodded my head towards Steve.
As soon as we sat for dinner Steve spoke up. "How about after dinner the kids can get to know each
other and us adults can enjoy some grown–up juice." My dad laughed and agreed. I noticed Aubrey
staring daggers at her dad.

I followed Aubrey up to her room. When we got in the first thing I noticed was the black record
player in her room. I didn't hear most of what she said. "–favorite song by them?" I looked down at
my shirt, "Nightmare. You have any vinyls, or is this just for looks?" I loved music, and I was really
hoping that she wasn't one of those girls who buys old stuff for fun. She smiled and pulled out a file
box full of records from under her bed. I flipped through them until I found one I liked.
I put the record on the mat and moved the needle. Nirvana's "You Know You're Right" filled up the
room. Aubrey hummed along and I looked around her room. I noticed the blue polaroid camera
sitting on her desk and ran over to it. "These are frickin cool!" I picked up the camera. I heard

Comparing Villains and Victims from The Speckled Band, Twisted Lip and The Cardboard Box The
three villains which I am going to compare / contrast are Dr Roylott from The Speckled Band, Mr
Neville St Claire from The Man With The Twisted Lip and Sarah Cushing from The Cardboard Box.
The three victims I am going to compare / contrast are Helen Stoner from The Speckled Band, Mrs
St Claire from The Man With The Twisted Lip and Susan Cushing from The Cardboard box. Dr
Roylott is a stereotype villain. He is feared by his neighbours and is very violent and threatening. He
is described as being "a man of immense strength, and absolutely uncontrollable anger". I can say
this because "he beat his native butler to death." He even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But what he is actually being portrayed as a villain in the story for is because he makes his wife Mrs
St Claire suffer because she thinks he is dead. "Ominous bloodstains upon the sill" the bloodstains
were found where Mrs St Claire saw her husband last. But what Mr Neville St Claire and Dr Roylott
have in common is that they are committing these crimes because of their greed for money. For
example Dr Roylott kills Julia so he could take delivery of one thousand pounds and Mr Neville St
Claire is pretending to be a crippled beggar so people get tricked into giving him money. The other
thing that I can compare them by is that they make who are meant to be their loved ones suffer I can
say this because Helen, Dr Roylott's stepdaughter says "we were little likely to see anyone of our
own age and position" this goes to show how selfish Dr Roylott is, he doesn't let his stepdaughters
have any bit of freedom. Mr Neville St Claire makes Mrs St Claire suffer by going away for a long
period and not returning and when she sees him he makes it out to look like there has been a tragic
death scene "Convinced that something was amiss with him" this is what Mrs St Claire thinks when
she sees her husband at the window sill. The villain from The Cardboard box, Sarah is described by
her sister Susan Cushing as being "meddlesome and hard to please" She is quite an evil character
"the second was a devil" because she breaks up the

Along with these aims they wanted to show their commitment towards environment.
The insight
The previous puma box was already sustainable however it was still a box, which created large
amount of waste. The packaging was not only aimed at the end product but also its process. It was
important to examine the new system and its effects on the stakeholders from start to end. Through
the examinations a new innovative was created – abandoning the shoebox and thinking outside the
box.
The things to be considered were the design had to be functional, protective; it should work on
existing shelves and displays. It should not require a new process. The cost could be the same or less
but not more.
The research
Puma underwent a life cycle analysis to figure out what was working and what were the problems
with the packaging. It was important to identify the problems and improve the experience of the
customer.
The design team travelled to the manufacturing, distribution and retail centers all over the world to
see the way the previous packaging process of production, transport, and storage takes place.
Research was done on material, which was flexible and sustainable. This was done in partnership
with Material ConneXion. They discovered new material with less environment harm.
The development– Smart and Simple solution
They had to reduce material and shipping cost. The design team thought for 21 months, over 2000

Escaping Life with my Father and Step-mother Essay
It was a hot summer day in late August. From a distance, mirages of water painted the horizon from
the heat of the black concrete road. the farmers fields glowed bright green with tall stalks of corn
lined perfectly on both sides of the road. Beyond the field in the distance, vultures circled above a
house I had once lived and a house that imprisoned my soul. One of the most vile people I had ever
met still calls that house a home. My father takes residency and has spent his whole life there.
Causing misery to any soul that decides to make their way to his doorstep. I feel empathy to this day

After 15 minutes of a warm and relaxing shower, I'm drying off and I hear a loud banging at the

Sherlock Holmes : The Adventure Of The Cardboard Box
My book is called Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Cardboard Box. It is a mystery written by
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who wrote many stories starring Sherlock Holmes. It is set in 19th century
England. The major character is Sherlock Holmes. He possesses a keen intellect and is a master of
reason and deduction. He has a brilliant analytical mind and an incredible range of knowledge.
Sherlock is over six feet tall, thin, with piercing gray eyes and a thin hawk–like nose. Because he is
self–appointed, Sherlock is the only consulting detective in the world. Although he is emotionally
detached and can be looked at as cold, Sherlock manages to maintain a close relationship with Dr.
John H. Watson, his roommate. A minor character is John H. Watson, who narrates the story and is
Sherlock's assistant and friend. John is a physician for the British army in Afghanistan, but is put on
leave due to a shoulder injury. Being an Army veteran, he is an excellent shot and has a high sense
of honor. He is fairly intelligent, loyal, straight–forward, and brave. John is middle–aged, strongly
built, of average height, and has a small mustache. He is devoted to Sherlock and would risk his life
for him. Another minor character is Miss Susan Cushing, a middle–aged placid woman who is the
victim of what appears to be a revolting practical joke. Miss Cushing has large gentle eyes and gray
hair. She has two sisters, Sarah and Mary. Jim Browning is the alcoholic husband of Mary. Alec

Why Cardboard Uses
Cardboard Uses:
It can be used as a storage compartment for items such as books or jewelry which is a worthwhile
use for someone who has little space for their items.
The cardboard box can also be used as a present box which is a worthwhile use of the box for those
who send presents overseas or who buy huge gifts.
A cardboard box can be used as a table but it is not a usual box use. It is worthwhile for people who
just recently began living independently or who can't afford a kitchen/coffee table.

Five Key terms:
Inductive reasoning are the beliefs and ideas that are formed from common concepts or experiences
such as dialing a number twice and no one picks up then you can reason that no one is home.
Fixation is solving problems the same way with no change to the strategies or viewpoints used. For
example, failing a quiz multiple times and using the same strategy of studying every once in while
because of the unchanging belief that you already know what you need to know.
Representative Heuristic is judging based off an individuals's looks and associating them with a
general group. An example is when individuals are judged on what languages they can speak based
on their appearance, so if you look hispanic then people assume that you must know spanish.
Syntax are making word combinations to make various sentences such as " The dog pushed the girl
down." or " The girl was pushed down by the dog"
Pragmatics is the process of saying more without using so many words. For example, a child needs
to use the bathroom but they can't say " I need to go to the bathroom" instead they would say the
words "Pee" or "

James Zimmerman's Homelessness Study
Under overpasses, under graffiti–covered walls, and amid piles of trash, it is sad to see the America's
homeless get by the best they can. Homeless build cardboard and plastic shelters, insulate
abandoned cars, sleep on mattresses which have been thrown away, and store their belongings in
garbage bags. I have also seen them use baby strollers to store their belonging in.
Zimmerman showed an interested in the material culture of homelessness as the leader of
archaeology at the Minnesota Historical Society. While observing the mansion of 19th–century
railroad magnate James J. Hill, Zimmerman carefully observed the trash that had accumulated above
garden deposits which began his study. "There was a fair amount of time depth to the homeless
materials we were finding on site," he says. "We began to see evidence of different time periods, a
range of things that indicated a long–term presence."
In the piles of rubbage they found pieces of clothing, sleeping bags, and cooking materials on the
surface, and excavation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My pack was here in Serenwood. My mother smiled reassuringly at me, sensing my fear with her

distance as she glided away, probably heading off to do her own packing. I sighed slightly, and
headed to my room, not even close to ready for the daunting task of packing up my bedroom.
––––
A couple of hours later, my room was finally packed. The light teal walls had been stripped of the
posters of various boy bands, the aforementioned posters rolled up neatly and placed into a bag. My
huge library consisting of several children's books and lighter novels, along with my newest task,
reading Ender's Game, were all packed into one backpack that also contained my iPod and other

I slung the back pack over my shoulder, balanced the two cardboard boxes on my hip with one hand,
and dragged my fuchsia suitcase with the other. I headed outside of my room, taking slow, careful
steps so the boxes wouldn't tip over. Some members of my pack approached me, offering their help,
but I politely declined. I was eleven years old; I could handle moving some suitcases and boxes up

Personal Narrative
Personal Narrative The blistering sunlight glazed the back of my neck with sweat, as I walk the
desolate streets of my neighborhood in Dallas. Wearing black pants had its advantages, but boy,
today I met my match: the sun. The scorching sunlight relieved the soil of its green and the energy
of humans, such as myself. The dry winds crack my lips as I trudge through the unwavering heat. It
had been an early release day for some reason. I have always walked home, except for when it
rained, but it never did. The houses howled with the breeze as it echo through the crevices. With
each step, the earth below me crackled in response. The trees, barren of leaves, wilted in the
doldrums. I walked through what was once an old pumpkin field. Littered with the remains of dried
roots and stumps, this path was my secret shortcut home. My trek home continued on the arid plain,
but little did I know, it would be the last time I navigated these familiar paths. I arrived at my
humble abode. From afar, my house was rather ordinary. A dark oak door stands tall, accompanied
by a doorbell that is illuminated with a warm orangish tint. An oak bench with dusty pillows was
mounted on our concrete patio. Our patio was bordered by lazy sunflowers that bowed before the
sun. The remains of a tree that once lived erodes ever so slightly in front of our house. Pieces of
fallen bark blend into the mulch where the tree is stationed. The sprinklers practically ran all day
with no hopes of reviving the

The Adventure Of The Cardboard Box By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
1. "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a fictional short story. There
are no other possible genres this story could fall into. 2. The exposition of the story is when Watson
sets the stage by describing the weather and what he and his companion, Holmes, were doing.
According to Watson, "It was a blazing hot day in August. Baker Street was like an oven, and the
glare of the sunlight upon the yellow brickwork of the house across the road was painful to the eye."
Watson was sitting at a desk reading the newspaper; while Holmes was lying on the couch reading a
letter he had received that morning. Watson became dissatisfied with paper and tossed it aside while
Sherlock read his thoughts. Holmes astounded Watson by knowing exactly what he was thinking
just by his facial features, eyes, and slight movements. After Holmes explained how he knew what
Watson was thinking, Watson said, "And now that you have explained it, I confess that I am as
amazed as before." 3. "But I have in my hands here a little problem which may prove to be more
difficult of solution than my small essay I thought reading. Have you observed in the paper a short
paragraph referring to the remarkable contents of a packet sent through the post to Miss Cushing, of
Cross Street, Croydon?" Those particular lines are the start of the rising action in this short story
because they present the problem, which the characters must solve. Watson then goes on to read the

Descriptive Essay On Moving Day
The scene outside, rainy and gloomy, sets an eerie tone. This isn't the typical August weather, but
we're not concerned at all. It'll only make our jobs more difficult in this harsh downpour. As a matter
of fact, my parents have been waiting for this day ever since they made their choice. My voice didn't
matter as much, so I had two choices. I had tried preparing myself by opting for one of the choices.
However, that wasn't the case on moving day. My day started like every other day. Laying in bed
and unwinding until you have the energy to actually get out of bed and be productive. Except, it
really wasn't. It was August of 2014, beginning of the school year. I had lived on a street called
Larsen Lane nearly all of my life, and had gone to the same school all my life, too. We should've
been getting ready for school, but our parents decided we should take the day off. This kind of
unwinding was different because my brother and I had slept on just mattresses; our bed frames had
already been packed. Our room was just plain. The blue walls had stayed here ever since we had got
them painted years ago, but that was it. The stickers we collected on our sliding glass doors to our
closet were all taken off. I laid there, bland and lifeless, on the verge of tears even, thinking about
the choice that could set me up for middle school. Our mom settled herself in bed with us,
comforting us so we would couldn't get too overwhelmed by the emotions of leaving behind our old
life.

Disadvantages of wooden crates– Deterioration * After wooden pallets are used several times, the
wood begins to wear. It splinters, cracks and even breaks under the pressure of continued use. The
deterioration is natural and occurs eventually, even if the wood is treated to repel moisture and to

A Short Story : The Story Of A Story
"Sally, Sally, the tree fell! The tree fell!" My cousins Eyad and Adham rushed to me, yelling
ecstatically like they had just witnessed the coolest thing ever. I'd just walked through the front door
carrying all of the bags filled with everything my other cousins and I had survived on for the past
five days at my uncle's house. At hearing this headline of news of what happened while I was gone,
I dropped everything, and it all landed with a loud thud. I stared blankly at the children, confused
and wondering what on Earth they were screaming about, knowing that they probably committed an
action that was completely ridiculous, adorable, and dangerous as most things they did happened to
be. "What? What happened? What tree? Are you guys okay?" I frantically spewed all the questions I
cared to ask. "What? Oh no we're okay," Eyad claimed gesturing to himself and everyone in the
house. "Yeah we're fine," Adham seconded. "There's just a tree that fell." "What?! Where?!" I
exclaimed, alarmed at how he said it so casually as if this were an everyday thing. What happened
while I was gone, I wondered. "In the backyard," Adham said, smiling and giggling so that I could
see the gaps in his mouth where his baby teeth used to be. "You know that last thunderstorm? The
wind knocked a tree down," Eyad explained the situation. Now my eyes went wide at the thought of
a big tree falling down due to winds from the storm. "You said in the backyard?" I asked just to
make sure because I still felt like this wasn't a real thing that happened. "Yeah! Ahmed and
Mohammed are carrying it right now!" Adham answered, still giggling and enjoying breaking the
news of the event to me. I walked towards the backyard and stepped out onto the deck. That's when
I saw exactly what they were talking about. A few heavy branches each about as long as a bus and
almost one–foot thick had fallen from the trees in the backyard onto the ground. Our two older
cousins – Ahmed and Mohammed – were working on cutting it into smaller pieces using a saw and a
pair of hedge shears. I yelled down asking them to explain what happened. They hadn't realized I
had come back yet so they were a little surprised, but once they comprehended what I was asking

housing without depriving themselves of essentials needs (as cited by Mind Disorders, par. 1).
However, there is a new meaning to homeless today. This paper will show what is considered as
homelessness and why many people become homeless. All people that are homeless do not live on
the streets. Homeless people can be someone who stays with a friend or a family member, ... Show

Data shows that there are approximately 930,200 American children that are homeless for reasons
beyond their control (Kelly, par. 1). Unfortunately, many young children becomes homeless when
they leave a foster home or some other children's facilities to live on their own; they have no
educational skills and can not afford housing or they do not want the responsibility. Without a
responsible job landlords will not give these youths a place to live. Many of these youth were
physically abused at home, at risk of violence, parents on drugs, runaways, exploited, sexual abused,
and out of home placement (Bodine, par.1). People in the community, and churches, can help with
the homeless people by providing shelter for them and providing food pantries. There are groups
that people can volunteer for, such as UNICEF, which is one of the biggest organizations to help the
homeless. Shelters should help them more and stop putting them out in the streets. Case workers and
state services should try to stabilize the homeless instead of trying to offer assistance; they have no
place to live so this is not important to them. I think that social workers should try to keep people
from entering the system before they get there. For example, after 9/11 many homeless people could
not get assistance because they did not have identification or a physical address, which was required
to prove residency. They were

Toolbox Personal Statement
Personal Statement When I was five years old I got a toolbox for my birthday. At the time, it served
as less of its intended purpose than it did as a symbol, representing being grown up and capable of
using it. My family was living two houses up from the house I currently live in, which was being
remodeled. Every day, while my dad and the other construction workers were working on the house,
I would be watching, waiting eagerly for the moment one of them would call me to help either nail
something together, sand a piece of wood, or grab a piece of equipment. When I got the toolbox, I
took pride in the fact that they were my personal tools, and when someone asked for help, I could
use my set of tools instead of borrowing from one of the workers. ... Show more content on

Myself, along with my two friends who lived in my neighborhood would use the toolbox to build
things like bike jumps, DIY skateboards out of two by fours, and tree forts. If we ran into a
complication in the process of building something, we only had what was in the toolbox, and our
collaborative minds to fix the problem. The numerous arguments and failed attempts to solve the
issue made the final, complete product of our imagination that much more rewarding. The toolbox
opened my mind, and made me fall in love with the imaginative and creative process that goes into
the production of something. It gave me a glimpse of a skill I possess, and the ability to help grow
that skill into a passion and representation of who I

A Research On Technology Management

  • 1. A Research On Technology Management Technology Management It is the innovation in the working environment permits organizations to grow rapidly and effectively. Business innovation, for example, video conferencing, interpersonal organizations and virtual office innovation has evacuated work environment limits that beforehand constrained business development. With business innovation, organizations can focus on a more extensive client base and develop to larger amounts. Office innovation spares times by accelerating the work process. Computerized documenting frameworks spare space, paper and printing costs. The utilization of computerised systems like robots permit remedies to be made in a flash. Assets like electronic records and access to data innovation are accessible with the snap of a catch. (Scott, n.d.) Haigh's have all the computerised facilities to run a business including taking orders online. Now there is the introduction of a new technology named Baxter–the robot. A 'cooperative robot' designed to work securely alongside people, will make his debut at Haigh's Adelaide factory just after the chocolatier's busy Easter period and is advertised to revolutionise Australia's manufacturing industry. Baxter was created by Adelaide–born Rodney Brooks in 2012. Baxter is an answer for makers of all sizes. Notwithstanding its extraordinarily low value point, Baxter offers six central contrasts that recognize it from customary mechanical robots: – No programming – No security confines – Streamlined joining – ... • 3. How Technology Has Changed Our Lives Robotic Future Growing up in a low income family was miserable. The small two story six–hundred square foot house was home to four families which consisted of father, mother, son or daughter. There were no English speakers in the house except for my sister and I. Cartoon Network was the most popular network and I was finally able to watch it for the first time. Some words were still not being processed in my brain but I started understanding how they were used. When I was able to use a computer it was like opening my mind to how modern technology impacts our lives. That's when my fascination for technology grew. I wanted to believed there was more that we could do with technology. Zoids, Gundam, and Pacific Rim showed me how much dedication people put into these great creations and I believed in myself to hopefully one day make these creations from dream to reality. I watched how these robots helped people they were seen as modern marvels and the pilots of these suits are seen as heroes. The first show I fell in love was called Zoids: New Century was airing and I was never so overwhelmed by towering mechanical animals fighting each other. This consisted of three people teams and they fought in a tournament style fights. Where the victors get a grand prize. Although these beasts were robotics nothing more brought up my curiosity than when I saw a pilot controlling these beasts. I became breathless to the fact that human beings are able to create such mystical things. As I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Advantages Of Lito Laminated Carton 1. VALUE PROPOSITION Introduction The product that I have chosen is Litho Laminated Boxes to introduce to Lithotech as a new product. Litho–laminated packaging is a high value product which provides maximum strength to protect your product but also allows a consumer to brand the packaging with high quality print quality which stands out on retail shelves. A litho laminated box is the same as a corrugated box which is an excellent material for shipping as it offers excellent protection for the products. Litho laminated cartons are geared for customers requiring higher print quality and greater strength than folding cartons. A litho laminated carton is manufactured by mounting a board or paper to a single flute corrugated sheet. The board ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When approaching new potential customers to set up appointments I will have everything written down in front of me of what I am going to say to avoid any stuttering. This also makes me more confident. Most of my calls I will make on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning around 10am. I will also be very friendly and polite and try to be as confident as possible and will always have the attitude that I have nothing to lose by making the phone call. Persistence will pay off so I will call as many people as I possibly can in an hour. Take a break for an hour and then make calls again for another hour. I will use my linked in account which normally leads to industries been linked and will try to find potential customers on that base. • 7. Personal Narrative Essay About Homeless People In New York Imagine this picture in your head. You're walking up and down the streets of New York, and everywhere you turn it seems like there's another homeless person. They wear tattered clothing and have streaks of dirt across their face and their arms. Last year on spring break when I was thirteen years old, my mom,my grandparents, and I were on a vacation in New York City. A few days after looking around and touring New York I noticed something that I hadn't really seen in any other city before. That was the amount of homeless people on the streets. Of course, I had seen homeless people before, but I had never seen this many in such a small area at one time. This was a really sad thing to witness, and it made me really appreciate the things I have in life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I remember one day in particular when I was about seven. I was walking down the street with my grandad ,and someone came up to us and asked us if we had any money. I knew for a fact that my grandfather had a twenty dollar bill in his wallet ,but for some odd reason he denied having any money. When I asked him about it I remember him telling me, "this man is just going to turn around and use this money to buy drugs."Hearing this as a 7 year old, I didn't really know what to think of it. When touch came to Smartphones, well it actually allowed the development of smartphones more or less, it revolutionized everything again. There was never a closer connection between user and content. And now, a new revolution could come: Virtual Reality. It allows the user to enter a complete isolated, imagined world, which is fully controlled by its creator. In the technology sector VR is seen as one of the key achievments which will influence our future. Despite challenges media should do the same to create a better experience than ever before. The small two story six–hundred square foot house was home to four families which consisted of father, mother, son or daughter. There were no English speakers in the house except for my sister and I. Cartoon Network was the most popular network and I was finally able to watch it for the first time. Some words were still not being processed in my brain, but I started understanding how they were used. When I was able to use a computer it was like opening my mind to how modern technology impacts our lives. As a result, my fascination for technology grew, I wanted to learn how it worked and how to build technology. I wanted to believed there was more than we could do with technology. Zoids, Gundam, and Pacific Rim showed me how much dedication people put into these great creations and I believed in myself to hopefully one day make these creations from dream to reality. I watched how these robots helped people they were seen as modern marvels and the pilots of these suits are seen as heroes. • 21. Cardinality in Blind Children Aim, objective and Hypothesis The current study set out to explore the generalisability of counting behaviour and the understanding of the cardinal principle in blind children. To date, research in this area has focused mainly on typically developing children. Some researchers have undertaken studies in the atypical population; however, this is limited to disorders such as Down syndrome (Caycho, Gunn & Siegal, 1991), mental retardation (Baroody, 1986) and severe learning difficulties (Porter, 1998). Therefore, children with visual impairment have not been given much attention in this field of research. The aim of the first experiment will be to observe whether children are able to count objects with varying degree of manipulation and mode of input, to assert the numerosity of the count. These entail counting objects than can and cannot be separated from those that have been counted, as well as the counting of sounds. The second experiment is designed to confirm the findings of experiment one; hence, children who understood the cardinal principle will be able to detect error made by others in counting. A further aim of the study will be to investigate whether smaller number words are acquired before larger ones, as it is the case in typically developing children. The researcher hypothesised that blind children's development will be slightly delayed in the younger age group, but will not show significant differences in the older age group when compared to typically ... This is because he is a homeless person. His real name is Jack but people call him "Rocky" because of his 6'2" body and his somewhat larger than normal muscles. He doesn't have the body of any average man. The combination of his light green eyes, his long brown beard, and his long mocha hair falling down from his winter hat, which he wears in every season, reminds me of a depiction of Jesus. One of his other "precious" items is a cardboard box in which he sleeps. It looks very much like him–– old, worn, and dirty. The last of his possessions is a bottle of glue that he sniffs to get high. He looks around pretending to care if people stare, but even if there's people he goes ahead with his glue sniffing ritual. He's not scary looking though, despite his unique garbage truck smell which some days is unbearable. He can be friendly. Having read a range of detective stories by Conan Doyle, compare the presentations of victims and villains in The Speckled Band and two other stories. In this essay, I am going to look at how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, has written the Sherlock Holmes stories, looking at the victims, villains, Holmes and his dear friend Watson. The Sherlock Holmes, stories are written in the detective genre, all of the stories that I have looked at to compile this essay, have a crime, victims, and villains. It also shows this as there is always a crime that Sherlock Holmes solves, by his intelligence. This affects the body language, as they will become very protective, as they will become more aware of what is happening around them. The gender of most victims in the stories is female, as they are more vulnerable, as they are less likely to resist. Our expectations of the villains in the stories of Sherlock Holmes are that the villains are generally male. Also the manners of the villains are likely to be, calculating, so that they know what they are doing and where. They are mostly actors, so that they can get people to think that they are someone different, so that they can get them to do things. But sometimes they are likely to get ahead of themselves. The villains usually look rich and they sometimes have scars from where they have been attacked by their victims. Their body language is usually threatening, and jumping to conclusions. Plus some of them may carry a weapon. A more modern example of a stereotype victim and villain is Ian Huntley and the Soham murders. Huntley lied to the police about the murders, and he must have been calculating as he knew exactly what he was doing. Our expectation of Sherlock Holmes is that, he likes doing his job as a detective, but he does not want to be the detective of a simple case. He always seems to solve the crime, by the means of something that he can see. Take the cardboard box as an example, Holmes was given the box and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Villains and Victims from The Speckled Band, Twisted Lip and The Cardboard Box The three villains which I am going to compare / contrast are Dr Roylott from The Speckled Band, Mr Neville St Claire from The Man With The Twisted Lip and Sarah Cushing from The Cardboard Box. The three victims I am going to compare / contrast are Helen Stoner from The Speckled Band, Mrs St Claire from The Man With The Twisted Lip and Susan Cushing from The Cardboard box. Dr Roylott is a stereotype villain. He is feared by his neighbours and is very violent and threatening. He is described as being "a man of immense strength, and absolutely uncontrollable anger". But what he is actually being portrayed as a villain in the story for is because he makes his wife Mrs St Claire suffer because she thinks he is dead. "Ominous bloodstains upon the sill" the bloodstains were found where Mrs St Claire saw her husband last. But what Mr Neville St Claire and Dr Roylott have in common is that they are committing these crimes because of their greed for money. For example Dr Roylott kills Julia so he could take delivery of one thousand pounds and Mr Neville St Claire is pretending to be a crippled beggar so people get tricked into giving him money. The other thing that I can compare them by is that they make who are meant to be their loved ones suffer I can say this because Helen, Dr Roylott's stepdaughter says "we were little likely to see anyone of our own age and position" this goes to show how selfish Dr Roylott is, he doesn't let his stepdaughters have any bit of freedom. Mr Neville St Claire makes Mrs St Claire suffer by going away for a long period and not returning and when she sees him he makes it out to look like there has been a tragic death scene "Convinced that something was amiss with him" this is what Mrs St Claire thinks when she sees her husband at the window sill. The villain from The Cardboard box, Sarah is described by her sister Susan Cushing as being "meddlesome and hard to please" She is quite an evil character "the second was a devil" because she breaks up the ... From a distance, mirages of water painted the horizon from the heat of the black concrete road. the farmers fields glowed bright green with tall stalks of corn lined perfectly on both sides of the road. Beyond the field in the distance, vultures circled above a house I had once lived and a house that imprisoned my soul. One of the most vile people I had ever met still calls that house a home. My father takes residency and has spent his whole life there. Causing misery to any soul that decides to make their way to his doorstep. Zimmerman showed an interested in the material culture of homelessness as the leader of archaeology at the Minnesota Historical Society. While observing the mansion of 19th–century railroad magnate James J. Hill, Zimmerman carefully observed the trash that had accumulated above garden deposits which began his study. • 68. Personal Narrative Personal Narrative The blistering sunlight glazed the back of my neck with sweat, as I walk the desolate streets of my neighborhood in Dallas. Wearing black pants had its advantages, but boy, today I met my match: the sun. The scorching sunlight relieved the soil of its green and the energy of humans, such as myself. The dry winds crack my lips as I trudge through the unwavering heat. It had been an early release day for some reason. I have always walked home, except for when it rained, but it never did. The houses howled with the breeze as it echo through the crevices. With each step, the earth below me crackled in response. The trees, barren of leaves, wilted in the doldrums. I walked through what was once an old pumpkin field. Littered with the remains of dried roots and stumps, this path was my secret shortcut home. My trek home continued on the arid plain, but little did I know, it would be the last time I navigated these familiar paths. I arrived at my humble abode. From afar, my house was rather ordinary. A dark oak door stands tall, accompanied by a doorbell that is illuminated with a warm orangish tint. An oak bench with dusty pillows was mounted on our concrete patio. Our patio was bordered by lazy sunflowers that bowed before the sun. The remains of a tree that once lived erodes ever so slightly in front of our house. There are no other possible genres this story could fall into. 2. The exposition of the story is when Watson sets the stage by describing the weather and what he and his companion, Holmes, were doing. According to Watson, "It was a blazing hot day in August. Baker Street was like an oven, and the glare of the sunlight upon the yellow brickwork of the house across the road was painful to the eye." Watson was sitting at a desk reading the newspaper; while Holmes was lying on the couch reading a letter he had received that morning. Watson became dissatisfied with paper and tossed it aside while Sherlock read his thoughts. Holmes astounded Watson by knowing exactly what he was thinking just by his facial features, eyes, and slight movements. After Holmes explained how he knew what Watson was thinking, Watson said, "And now that you have explained it, I confess that I am as amazed as before." 3. It'll only make our jobs more difficult in this harsh downpour. As a matter of fact, my parents have been waiting for this day ever since they made their choice. My voice didn't matter as much, so I had two choices. I had tried preparing myself by opting for one of the choices. However, that wasn't the case on moving day. My day started like every other day. Laying in bed and unwinding until you have the energy to actually get out of bed and be productive. Except, it really wasn't. It was August of 2014, beginning of the school year. I had lived on a street called Larsen Lane nearly all of my life, and had gone to the same school all my life, too. We should've been getting ready for school, but our parents decided we should take the day off. This kind of unwinding was different because my brother and I had slept on just mattresses; our bed frames had already been packed. Our room was just plain. The blue walls had stayed here ever since we had got them painted years ago, but that was it. The stickers we collected on our sliding glass doors to our closet were all taken off. I laid there, bland and lifeless, on the verge of tears even, thinking about the choice that could set me up for middle school. Our mom settled herself in bed with us, comforting us so we would couldn't get too overwhelmed by the emotions of leaving behind our old life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. A Short Story : The Story Of A Story "Sally, Sally, the tree fell! The tree fell!" My cousins Eyad and Adham rushed to me, yelling ecstatically like they had just witnessed the coolest thing ever. I'd just walked through the front door carrying all of the bags filled with everything my other cousins and I had survived on for the past five days at my uncle's house. At hearing this headline of news of what happened while I was gone, I dropped everything, and it all landed with a loud thud. "What? What happened? What tree? Are you guys okay?" I frantically spewed all the questions I cared to ask. "What? Oh no we're okay," Eyad claimed gesturing to himself and everyone in the house. "Yeah we're fine," Adham seconded. "There's just a tree that fell." "What?! Where?!" I exclaimed, alarmed at how he said it so casually as if this were an everyday thing. What happened while I was gone, I wondered. "In the backyard," Adham said, smiling and giggling so that I could see the gaps in his mouth where his baby teeth used to be. "You know that last thunderstorm? The wind knocked a tree down," Eyad explained the situation. Now my eyes went wide at the thought of a big tree falling down due to winds from the storm. "You said in the backyard?" I asked just to make sure because I still felt like this wasn't a real thing that happened. "Yeah! Ahmed and Mohammed are carrying it right now!" Adham answered, still giggling and enjoying breaking the news of the event to me. I walked towards the backyard and stepped out onto the deck. That's when I saw exactly what they were talking about. A few heavy branches each about as long as a bus and almost one–foot thick had fallen from the trees in the backyard onto the ground. Our two older cousins – Ahmed and Mohammed – were working on cutting it into smaller pieces using a saw and a pair of hedge shears. I yelled down asking them to explain what happened. Some people have lost their jobs and cannot afford to pay for housing. What is homelessness? Homelessness is defined, by The Steward McKinney Homeless Assistance Act of 1987, as someone who do not own their own home or one who can not afford to pay for housing without depriving themselves of essentials needs (as cited by Mind Disorders, par. 1). However, there is a new meaning to homeless today. This paper will show what is considered as homelessness and why many people become homeless. Data shows that there are approximately 930,200 American children that are homeless for reasons beyond their control (Kelly, par. 1). Unfortunately, many young children becomes homeless when they leave a foster home or some other children's facilities to live on their own; they have no educational skills and can not afford housing or they do not want the responsibility. Without a responsible job landlords will not give these youths a place to live. Many of these youth were physically abused at home, at risk of violence, parents on drugs, runaways, exploited, sexual abused, and out of home placement (Bodine, par.1). People in the community, and churches, can help with the homeless people by providing shelter for them and providing food pantries. There are groups that people can volunteer for, such as UNICEF, which is one of the biggest organizations to help the homeless. Shelters should help them more and stop putting them out in the streets. Case workers and state services should try to stabilize the homeless instead of trying to offer assistance; they have no place to live so this is not important to them. I think that social workers should try to keep people from entering the system before they get there.
