Musical taste is subjective. Everyone has a different musical preference that depends on their age,

Homer s Heroes
The epic poem called The Iliad written by Homer concerns the Trojan War. It shows Trojan and
Achaean warriors courage, bravery and their attempt to become the best fighter to get fame, glory,
and honor. The heroes in The Iliad follow Homer s heroic code, striving for excellence. Hector and
Achilles strength comes from their desire for fame, glory, honor and their acceptance of fate.
These qualities are considered to be characteristics of Homer s heroic code. However, the actions
of Paris are not heroic causing trouble and conflict for many people. In fact, Paris non heroic action
started the Trojan Warand the hatred between Greece and Troy.

The proper burial which Achilles does for all his victims in the war is a heroic action. Since
burial is a very important thing for both Achaeans and Trojans, the families of the dead ones were
able to appreciate Achilles respect for the dead people. Andromache says of Achilles attack on her
father:
He killed him, but, reverent at least in this, did not spoil him. Body, gear, and weapon forged so
handsomely, he burned, and heaped a barrow over the ashes. Elms were planted round by mountain
nymphs of him who bears the storm cloud. (J 127 33)
Achilles requests to his mother, Thetis, to ask Zeus and make the Trojans stronger until
Agamemnon and his army realize that they need Achilles back in order to win the war. So,
Thetis asks Zeus, Lend the Trojans power,/ until the Achaeans recompense my son/ and heap new
honour upon him! (C 20 23) The strategy that Achilles plans works out and eventually he is back
in the army. However since he chooses fame and glory over a long and relaxing life, the time for
Achilles death comes. Being the hero that he is, Achilles accepts his fate when Hector foreshadows
it and mentions his death is close by.

Banquo s Influence On Macbeth
Sometimes a thunder god can help out a mischief god. Often times throughout history and
ancient mythology, a person viewed as evil has a counter part that is viewed as good. For example,
Thor, the Norse god of weather/thunder was considered to be a good guy. However, his brother
Loki, the Norse god of mischief, was considered to be a bad guy. Thorhad to help keep his brother in
line throughout their childhood because if he did not, Lokiwould get in trouble. Loki would go
around playing tricks on the other gods and their children. He loved making himself laugh as
well as making others laugh. However, sometimes he pushed things too far. In Shakespeare s
The Tragedy of Macbeth, Banquo and Macbeth share some qualities with Thor and Loki. Thor
tried to help Loki just like Banquo tries to help Macbeth. Banquo is a person that is seen as a
leader because of his level headedness, just like Thor was a leader among the Norse gods. Like
Loki, Macbeth pushes things too far. He commits multiple murders and lies through his teeth

s doings. This may make some readers think that Macbeth will be that much closer to getting
away with what he has done, but this is false. Since Banquo s death, all Macbeth can think about
is how he had his friend murdered. He even sees Banquo s ghost and has a little fit in front of a
lot of people. Seeing Banquo s ghost has made Macbeth paranoid and question everything he does.
He is not as confident as he used to be. It is obvious that Banquo still has an impact on Macbeth
even after he has died because of the fact that Macbeth cannot stop thinking about Banquo s
