A gamma camera was invented by H. Anger in the 1960s to produce images for medical diagnosis. It works by injecting a radioactive tracer into the patient, which emits gamma rays that are detected by a gamma camera. The camera uses a sodium iodide crystal to convert gamma rays into light flashes, which are converted into electrical signals by photomultipliers. A computer then analyzes the signals to construct an image showing the distribution of the radioactive tracer in the body.
A quality control for new equipment should start with an acceptance test to verify the equipment meets the specifications given by the vendor. The acceptance test should be performed according to accepted international standards and may require the use of instruments and phantoms not available in the department. The acceptance test forms the basis of the reference tests routinely performed in the department during the life-time of the equipment according to a schedule worked out by the medical physicist in cooperation with the nuclear medicine department. Certain parameters should be tested daily, others on weekly, monthly and yearly basis.

A computational camera attempts to digitally capture the essence of visual information by exploiting the synergistic combination of task-specific optics, illumination, sensors and processing. We will discuss and play with thermal cameras, multi-spectral cameras, high-speed, and 3D range-sensing cameras and camera arrays. We will learn about opportunities in scientific and medical imaging, mobile-phone based photography, camera for HCI and sensors mimicking animal eyes.
We will learn about the complete camera pipeline. In several hands-on projects we will build several physical imaging prototypes and understand how each stage of the imaging process can be manipulated.
We will learn about modern methods for capturing and sharing visual information. If novel cameras can be designed to sample light in radically new ways, then rich and useful forms of visual information may be recorded -- beyond those present in traditional protographs. Furthermore, if computational process can be made aware of these novel imaging models, them the scene can be analyzed in higher dimensions and novel aesthetic renderings of the visual information can be synthesized.
In this couse we will study this emerging multi-disciplinary field -- one which is at the intersection of signal processing, applied optics, computer graphics and vision, electronics, art, and online sharing through social networks. We will examine whether such innovative camera-like sensors can overcome the tough problems in scene understanding and generate insightful awareness. In addition, we will develop new algorithms to exploit unusual optics, programmable wavelength control, and femto-second accurate photon counting to decompose the sensed values into perceptually critical elements.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

• A camera for nuclear imaging was invented by H. Anger in

• Gamma camera is considered as one of the most
important devices used in the fields of nuclear medicine.

4. HOW A GAMMA CAMERA WORKS
Patient is injected by radiotracer(radioisotope), emits
gamma radiation. Then gamma camera scans the
radiation area and creates an image.
To detect the gamma photons we use a large crystal of
sodium iodide. The crystal gives a tiny flash of visible
light every time a gamma photon hits it. This flash is
picked up by photomultipliers which convert the flash
into an electrical signal. The electrical signals from the
photomultipliers are analyzed by a computer to
construct an image.
