The EU-IFAD project in Sudan focused on enhancing legume production across five states, engaging over 1,000 farmers in research support, seed increase, technology dissemination, and capacity building from 2013 to 2015. Successful outcomes included the release of new faba bean and chickpea varieties with improved yields and resistance to diseases, as well as increased adoption of integrated pest management practices that boosted farmer incomes. The project also emphasized the importance of farmer participation and training in improving agricultural practices and livelihoods.
