Jumpstarter Inc. vs. Bob Hartley Introduction Jumpstater Inc had developed a product, Jumpstarter
I, which was a pacemaker intended to regulate the heartbeat of an individual in the body. At the end
of the nineties, the company discovered that the device became faulty when the body temperature
increased above normal. To reverse the damage, the firm asked the medical facilities that had any
unused product to return them to the company for credit. Additionally, Jumpstarter Inc. advised
practitioners to remove any device that had already been implanted in the patients. Bob Hartley, a
physician that had used the product in some of his patients, had to perform some serious ... Show

Defendant In essence, Jumpstarter Inc may utilize comparative fault defense to seek partial
liability in the case. Ideally, contributory negligence in the Jumpstarter case would attempt to have
the plaintiff as a contributor to the harm caused. The use of comparative fault defense by
Jumpstarter Inc would, therefore, be although the pacemaker failed and the applicant s case may
be watertight, the defendant would still win because there was a timely recall of the product. The
defendant would use the affirmative defense to agree and sympathize with the harm caused to the
plaintiff but still assert that they did their part by recalling the product. Everyone In the case
against Jumpstarter Inc., the plaintiff, Bob Hartley, will win. The rationale for this is because the
manufacturer violated the law by damaging the confidence of their customers through the
provision of faulty products. Recalling a product and fighting a legal case at the same time is not
ethical. This action shows that the defendant does not take full responsibility for their negligence
and the damage caused by their faulty goods. The best way to show remorse and full liability for
the breach of the implied warranty, the contract would be to recall the product and give
compensation to the

The Maze Runner Rhetorical Analysis
Thomas, a teenager discovers himself in a strange place known as glade. Entering the glade with
an only small fragment of his memory, he has to survive through the hardship and be a runner in
order to find a way to escape the glade. The maze runner is set in an apocalyptic world. Thomas
should accustom and demonstrate his skills to be a runner in the maze, but he can only do this
with the help of other gladers. Thomas starts as a whiner, unwilling and an impulsive kid who just
wants to figure out the maze himself, but eventually evolves as a brave, compassionate, and an
intelligent kid realizing that he wants to redeem himself by helping his friends and assimilates into

In the beginning, he kept rejecting the necessity of friend. Chuck, willing to become an ally is
rejected by Thomas. Ultimately, he chooses to become an ally with Chuck. After the maze
incident, Minho insists on Thomas becoming a runner to the council. At first, the idea of
becoming a runner was dreadful and scary to Thomas. There is no way of knowing what is out
there. The maze is too dangerous and risky. The probability of getting stung by a griever was too
high, but Thomas did not give up. If he wanted answers to the glade and a way out, risking his
life for it would be than, being trapped inside the glade which is already scary enough. He would
also risk his life for his friend. Having a friend is important than anything. In Thomas situation,
he believed, he would be better off alone. Yet, Chuck approached him despite the fact Thomas
hates him. Thomas soon realizes that he needs chuck when, Thomas finally snapped out of his
his daze and took off after his new and only friend (31). Encountering too many enemies in the
glade conspiring against him because of a likely connection between him and the glade, he
realizes he needs someone beside him. Eventually, they see him as a leader and his friends look
out for him for best chance of survival. Thomas evolves as a great

Symptoms And Treatment Of Peripheral Nociceptors At High...
1.Introduction
It is estimated that 20% of the European population suffer from chronic pain.1 The understanding of
pain in research has considerably developed from the simplistic pain gate theory.2,3 It is now
understood that stimulation of peripheral nociceptors at high threshold triggers central pathways
that travel via the lateral spinothalamic tract to the medulla and brainstem.4 Nociceptive
information also arrives via spinoreticular and spinomesencephalic tracts; controlling autonomic,
arousal and homeostatic responses.56 Sensory firing is just one influence to central pain processing.
Cortical areas associated with emotional valence, memory, autonomic and motor control are all
seen to activate during a pain experience supporting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Large, fast conducting fibres (О± and ОІ fibres) inhibit small, multi synaptic, slow conducting
fibres (C fibre) at the dorsal horn.13 Gaps were missing within this research due to available
research resources; Noordenbos13 was unable to investigate past the spinal cord. This statement
was unexplained yet it was a development in pain research. Melzack and Wall2 developed the
pain gate theory based from the research by Noordenbos13. The theory explained what
Noordenbos13 was unable to prove; impulses are projected to the brain via the dorsal column,
where central processes influence the activity of the gate control system.2
Melzack3 critiqued his own research. The pain gate was too simplistic and only explained pain as a
sensory dimension.3 Rather that, pain is an output of multi dimensional information being received
and processed by a complex neural network within the brain, termed the neuromatrix .3,14,15 This
guided away from the concept that pain was a sensation always produced by injury, inflammation or
pathology to pain being a complex experience by multiple influences. The new explanation was also
a suggestion to the nature behind some chronic pain conditions.3 Influences affecting such central
processing extend from existing synaptic architecture imprinted within memory to neuro endocrine
and immunological influences.3 Despite the resources of such knowledge being

The Safety Of A Food Supply
The stability of a food supply is often the most important thing a society can offer to its people.
However, in a changing global environment filled with bacteria, viruses, and disease, scientists
and farmers have continually tried to find ways to make food safer for consumers. The normal way
currently is to use pesticides and preservatives to keep diseases at bay and keep foodfrom going bad
and possibly causing harm to those who eat it. Some researchers, however, are still looking for
safer and more effective ways to preserve food, and the idea of food irradiationhas been around
since the early 1900 s. Anything involving radiation often scared consumers and makes them not
trust the quality of the food, because they do not believe that... Show more content on

The FDA greatly expanded the use of food irradiation in the year 1986, even though it was already
used for things such as wheat, flour, and potatoes. Before this time, radiation was thought of in
food terms as an additive, not a process the food must go through. In fact, by 1988, some nineteen
major countries had laws in place that allowed for certain foods to be irradiated to help better
preserve them. The world is beginning to realize this form of preservation as a viable option, and
the only thing left is for the consumer and the government to decide whether or not this should be a
commonly used method.
Food irradiation has many variables that make it exactly what it is. There are different types of
irradiation that work on different types of food, and accomplish different tasks such as
sterilization, disease prevention, or even acting as an insect repellent. The thing that truly defines
the different types, however, is the type of radiation used. The most effective types include
electron beam radiation, gamma ray radiation, and x ray radiation. Electron beam radiation is the
shortest in terms of time needed to irradiate the food, but it also does not penetrate very deep,
only about half a centimeter. This type of ray radiation is used to merely disinfect things like
wheat and some grains. Gamma ray radiation is the use of Cobalt 60 in most places to irradiate the
food. In fact, this type of radiation can penetrate up to six inches.

Separation Of Ammonium Chloride Essay
The purpose is to separate the elements from each other in a mixture and to recognize if there are
any associated physical changes of those elements. Moreover, it s intended to recognize the
percentage of error of each element s weight after the separation compared to its reference
percentage in the mixture
A mixture consists of iron, sodium chloride, ammonium chloride and silicon dioxide. A magnetic
source were used to separate the iron element and then its weight had been measured. The mixture
had been heated to separate the ammonium chloride, as it was evaporated. To determine the weight
of ammonium chloride, the mixture were weighted before and after the heating procedure. Then the

Morte D Arthur Research Paper
Morte d Arthur, published in 1485, is a story written by Sir Thomas Mallory. In essence, Morte d
Arthur is tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights at the Round Table. Arthur, who is son of
King Uther Pendragon but was raised by another family, takes his rightful place as king when, as a
boy, he is able to pull the sword called Excaliburfrom the stone. In order to relate this story to
todays time, Arthur s childhood is the center of attention. After Arthur was born, he was given
away to other people to be raised, not by his biological parents. Arthur s being raised by different
his non biological parents is similar to adoption in real life, and how it affected him and how it
effects children in real life, will be the main focus. Another connection between the story and real
life is that the general community (apart from school children in real life) are pretty... Show more

To start us off, King Uther of England falls in love with Igrayne, the wife of one of his vassals.
With the help of the wizard Merlin, he disguises himself as her husband and sleeps with her,
conceiving a son, Arthur. Arthur is hidden away with another of Arthur s vassals, Sir Ector, until
one New Year s Day some time after Uther s death. Arthur was given away until King Uther died
because he did not want anyone to find out about him. But then, King Uther passed and Arthur
was sent back to his mother. Luckily for Arthur, being raised by a different family did not effect
him tremendously. He was able to lead a somewhat normal life and eventually becomes king.
Unfortunately, large quantities of children in real life can not say the same. While most of

Smokey Wall Street Case
Problem:
In the city of Des Moines, there are several small homegrown coffee shops that offer a unique
experience. Java Joes, Zanzibar s Coffee Adventure, Mars CafГ© and Smokey Row, just to
name a few have made contributions to the Des Moines coffee scene over the years. Whether it
is being covered in local art like Zanzibar s is. Offering live music performances and poetry
readings from time to time like Mars and Java Joes. Or being the one stop shop and giving an oh
so cozy atmosphere as Smokey Row does for Drake Students and community members alike, there
is no one coffee shop that combines each of these experiences. This is, yet.

will do best during the winter and fall months. Although there is a drop in coffee sales in the
summer, the number of sales made in the winter and fall are enough to sustain our model, as sales
are low. To close out year one, THE MIDDLE, is looking at an ending balance of $66,361 dollars.
Phase Two: Building
Moving into year two, THE MIDDLE will use the revenue from year one to establish a location. It
is also the phase in which our business introduces its social mission aspect. Not only do we want to
continue to be the homegrown coffee shop that we are, we want to use that same passion to give
back to the community through art and artist.
We will also use this year to partner with the company, Fair Trade USA. Committed to the rise of
the conscious consumer, Fair Trade USA, rewards companies that create opportunities, are
innovative, empower, and have and impact on the community as that is what we intend on doing.

Essay about Johnson VS Madison
Johnson became the 36th President of the United States a few short hours after the assassination of
JFK. Known as one of the greatest political persuaders of the times, he sought the Greater Good of
the people. James Madison was the fourth president of the United States. Although he was
president, he is better known as the father of the Constitution . He led our fledging nation through
the difficult War of 1812. Lyndon Johnson s presidency was embroiled in foreign nations as was
Madison s. An advocator of the space program, Johnson and the leaders of Russia worked things out
between their two nations. During Johnson s presidency, Vietnam became his defining moment.

This memorial brought about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the first of many Civil Right Acts. In
1965, Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act which did away with literacy voting tests. These
literacy tests prevented the African American citizen from voting. He went on to pass the Civil
Rights Act of 1968, the Equal Housing Act. Interestingly enough, Johnson appointed the first black
Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall. He even surrounded himself with colored advisors so
as to not appear as a hypocrite. All the Civil Rights Acts prompted Johnson to start his Great
Society ideas.
Slavery still existed during Madison s presidency so there was no great reform there. However, in
1811, Madison vetoed two bills of Congress that tried to grant land to religious congregations. His
reasons for the veto were the bills violated the non establishment clause of the first Amendment that
Madison helped write. Later that same year, Congress passed a Religious Freedom Act that
Madison signed into bill. He wrote many statements concerning the fact that church and state should
be separate and continued to live by those statements throughout his Presidency. Interestingly
enough, Madison supported the Native American populations living on American soil. In fact, he
ordered the protection of their lands from foreign invasions. In order for him to pass his Great
Society , Johnson had to seek Congressional resolution. He was very persuasive in his arguments.
After all, he was a former

Benefits Of Payroll Outsourcing
Payroll outsourcing can save companies time and money. It allows the business to not waste man
hours handling a function that doesn t bring in any revenue. The cost of payroll processing is
greatly reduced by using a payroll service company. It usually costs more to pay an employee to
handle the payroll than it would cost to outsource to a professional company.
Another cost savings of outsourcing is avoiding penalties and fees from the IRS and state if a tax
filing or payment is submitted late or incorrectly. In the event that an error does occur most payroll
service companies will pay the penalties and interest that are accrued.
Payroll companies [http://www.apluspayrollservice.com] stay up to date on the newest tax tables
and tax laws. Tax laws are constantly changing and payroll companies stay on top of the new
changes to keep the business out of trouble. Payroll companies offer services like direct deposit
and pay as you go workers compensation insurance that some employers can t get by themselves.
Some payroll service companies can also help with the set up and administration of employee
benefits. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You never have to worry about your payroll service company calling in sick on a payroll day. They

Many business owners realize the benefits of outsourcing the payroll service function. It helps
reduce costs and also saves a lot of time and aggravation. Any business owner that doesn t

World of Leptospirosis
Leptospirosis: It s Causes, Symptoms, Complications,
Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment.
I.Introduction
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection affecting both humans and animals. It is acquired through
direct contact with the urine of infected animals or by contact with a urine contaminated
environment such as floodwater, soil, and plants. The bacteria enter the body through broken skins,
eyes, nose or mouth.
As of October 26, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded a total of 2,158 cases including
167 deaths. Leptospirosis cases in Metro Manila have increased by as much as 174 percent since
last year. Leptospirosis cases reached its peak from October 14 to 19, with hospitals reporting up to

During the Egyptian campaign, Napoleon s army suffered from what was probably infectious
jaundice. Infectious jaundice occurred among troops during the American Civil War.It was also
reported among troops at Gallipoli and other battles of World War I, where the sodden conditions
of trench warfare favored infection. Terms used in early 20th century descriptions of leptospirosis
include the pseudo dengue of Java, seven day fever, autumn fever, Akiyama disease, and marsh or
swamp fever. L icterohaemorrhagieae was identified as the causative agent in Pre World War II
outbreaks in Japan, which were characterized by jaundice and a high mortality rate.
In October 2010 British rower Andy Holmes died after contracting Weil s disease.
Causes
Leptospirosis is caused by a spirochaete bacterium called Leptospira spp. that has at least 5
serovars of importance in the United States and Canada causing disease in dogs
(Icterohaemorrhagiae, Canicola, Pomona, Grippotyphosa, and Bratislava).
There are other (less common) infectious strains. Genetically different leptospira organisms may be

The Aviation Industry Has Had On The Environment
Introduction The civil aviation sector over the past hundred years has transformed into one of
the most vital forms of transport in society today. This is due to a vast range of improvements
and innovations. One major enhancement in an aircraft is its fuel efficiency; this was obtained
through years of in depth research, engine development, avionics and its aerodynamics. The
effect that the aviation industry has had on the environment has been relatively small but due to
the increase in demands the emissions released by these aircrafts will increase as a result of this.
The primary emissions released are carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and unburned
hydrocarbons have all contributed to the deterioration of local air quality and eventually lead to
an increase in greenhouse gases. The purpose of this assignment is to highlight the advancements
in the aircraft industry over the past hundred years as well as state the key innovations which led
to the overall goal airliner the Boeing 247 . The 247 flew using the design of a twin engine
bomber with retractable landing gear built initially for the military. Even though it only
accommodated 10 passengers and had a cruising speed of 155 miles an hour, this was a turning
point in history as it was the first aircraft to be introduced into civil aviation. Another example was
the introduction of military aviation. World War II was the main cause of fighter jets. By the end of
the war aircraft manufacturers were producing 48,000

Inmate Suicide In Jail
In American jails there is a frightening amount of inmate suicides that occur, and seem to stay
under the radar and unspoken about. There are many different contributing factors that can lead
to an inmate ultimately choosing to take his or her own life. Being sentenced to jail can be
difficult for various inmates to handle and one can have a risk of developing a mental illness if
he or she has not already been diagnosed as mentally ill. A mental illness can become a battle with
one s self that some cannot win, and only see darkness ahead. Inmates being confined in jail can
lead to a breaking point, which is suicide. Other factors include inmates being stressed out and
fearing imprisonment. Jails across the United Stateshave to take initiative regarding inmate suicides
or else the suicide rates could increase. Without treatment, awareness, and prevention there will be
no improvement in decreasing the amount of inmate suicides. The conversation of inmate suicide
has to be had between jail officials, inmates, and society because there is help out there and
everyone must know that it is not cowardly to ask for help.

5 Themes Of Geography Rio Essay
5 Themes of Geography
By Soren Vogelsang
Location
Rio de Janeiro is a large city located on the coast of southeast Brazil. The exact location of Rio de
Janeiro is 22.9068 S, 43.1729 W. Rio de Janeiro is located about 700 miles southeast of Brasilia, the
capital of Brazil. The seaside city of Rio de Janeiro has an amazing location on the coast of the
Atlantic ocean with lots to do and explore.
Place
Rio de Janeiro is a very interesting place with lots of trees and thick forests including the man
made Tijuca Forest which covers most of Rio. One of Rio s most prized human features is the
massive 98 foot Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado. Copacabana Beach is a
popular beach lined with boardwalks, cafes, and bars there are also many activities including
volleyball, football (soccer), running trails, and weightlifting. Rio de Janeiro offers a tropical

Rio de Janeiro relies greatly on the Amazon river for food, water, and fertile soil to grow crops

interactions including polluted waterways, super bacteria, poaching, and zika, these are bad
actions by humans that are harming the environment, we can stop these bad interactions with the
environment by having better law enforcement and picking up more trash to make Rio a better
place. Rio has natural interactions too like mudslides and floods, in 2011 a flood attacked Rio
along with mudslides and landslides causing over 1,700 deaths. We have affected Rio and Rio

Gut Microbiota Research Paper
Molecular insights into gastric sleeve surgery: A review on gut microbiota and obesity
1.Introduction Overweight and obesity are defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an
abnormal or excessive accumulation of body fat that damages the health of the individual.
Nowadays, obesity is becoming widespread around the world, with complications such as diabetes
and an increased risk of heart disease. Currently, it has been shown that in addition to genetic
factors, the incidence of obesity is affected by environmental factors such as gut microbiota
interactions, and diet through changes in gut microbiota, intestinal permeability and LPS levels.
The gut microbiota consists of bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoans, often belonging to the phyla
of Frimicutes, Bacteroides, Actinobacteria, and Protebacteria (3). Although, more than a thousand
different bacteria are found in the human intestine, only 150 to 170 species are common between

hunger hormone (ghrelin) and increased bile acids. Although, the size of the stomach is reduced in
this type of surgery, but its function stays normal. On the other hand, it reduces hunger due to extra
gastric volume, containing cells producing ghrelin hormone (provoking hunger and causing

The Cost Of Living By Carlos Fuentes
The Cost of Living
The Cost of Living by Carlos Fuentes, starts with Salvador Renteria and his wife Ana. Ana has
been in bed for two weeks and is very ill. Salvador comforts his wife while she is lying in bed. He
tells her not to worry and that she will get better soon. Salvador shows his love for his wife while
she is sick. She asked Salvador to check her messages at the office, he told her that the office
wanted her to come in person to sign (Fuentes 451). We can note from this that during this time
period medicine wasn t very advanced. When someone needed highly advanced medicine, it was
very expensive and rare to get.
A shopkeeper tells Salvador that Life en Espanol hadn t arrived yet (Fuentes 452). Carlos Fuentes
tells us this because he wants us to get the feel for the setting of the story. This also can stereotype
that the life in Mexico can prove to be economically difficult.
The story is focused in the mid 1950s during political corruptness. The setting is located in
Mexico City, Mexico. Carlos Fuentes expresses this because he wants us to get the feel for the
setting of the story. This also can stereotype that the life in Spanish can be economical hard. I
believe that Carlos chose this time era because he wanted people to see how life was the back
then compared to how it is today. The point of view takes us back in time to where medical
treatment wasn t available, unlike today. Salvador leaves his house and is walking down the street

Harper Lee and Truman Capote, two of the greatest 20th century authors, were once prodigious
best friends. And best friends share everything; their thoughts, their dreams, but most importantly,
their ideas. So could it be possible that Capote, a prolific writer, could have played a role in writing
Lee s esteemed novel, To Kill a Mockingbird? Doubtful. Through comparisons of Lee s only work
to Capote s A Christmas Memoryit can be seen that despite similarities, these friends works differ
too greatly in the way they set the tone, emphasize their themes, and utilize imagery for them to
have worked together on her novel.
The first area, where Capote and Lee vary, is their use of style to create tone. Due to two extremely

/ Atticus? said Jem. / Yes? / Nothin (p.97). This is the scene where the children learn their father,
whom they believe to have no physical skills, is the best shot in town after shooting a rabid dog.
There is no direct interpretation from the narrator leaving readers with only the characters dialogue
to ponder. The effect is a speechless tone. While one author interacts with the text as the author,
setting up each scene and action, the other only interacts as a character and this can be directly
attributed to which tense they write. So despite similar overlying tones and point of views, Capote
and Lee diverge immediately in style.
As most authors do, both Lee and Capote wound similar themes and subthemes throughout their
pieces, yet use completely different techniques to isolate these themes. In To Kill a Mockingbird,
the theme is stated multiple times, interpreted by every character, and then confirmed by the
narrator. Atticus tells Scout You never really understand a person until you consider things from
his point of view... (p.30) stating the theme directly. 200 pages later, the narrator, Scout realizes
that her father was right as she views the neighborhood in a perspective she was too afraid to
approach before. In between, the idea of prejudging a person is toiled with in every struggle and
outburst. The theme, first introduced in a simple conflict, is reemphasized at the very end,
affirming the importance of never enforcing a stereotype

The Development Of The Established Holy Bible
Marcion of Sinope The development of the established Holy Bible was a long, drawn out process
that started with the foundation of the original Jewish scriptures, formerly known as the Torah.
Building off of Jewish ideals, theologians and philosophers started compiling scriptures with the
ultimate result of the New Testament canon. Typically, many factors were taken into account when
distinguishing the credibility or incredibility of a given scripture. For example, apostolic
succession, where and when it was written as well as the cohesiveness with the other scriptures
(referring to the Old Testament, as well as the documents within what was to become the New
Testament). There were various depictions of the New Testament as the universally accepted canon
was still developing, some of which contained writings that were certainly questionable. However,
there was an initial establishment of the scriptural canon that jump started the process of paving the
road towards the Holy Bibleas we know it today. It was the absurdity of Marcion s teachings and
that prompted the church to establish an orthodox position on doctrine. Marcion was native to
Sinope in Pontus, a small port town off of the inner coastline of Asia Minor. In Sinope, Marcion
earned a fortune as a ship owner, which opened up many doors for him down the road. In his
travels, Marcion arrived in Rome and attempted to spread his personal developments on Christian
doctrine. In doing so, he donated a large sum of money

The Main Effects Of The Reichstag Fire
Which was more important to Hitler, the Reichstag Fire or the Enabling Act?
Both the Reichstag Fire and the Enabling Act contributed to Hitler becoming Der Fuhrer . Though
would the Enabling Act have been attainable if it were not for the Reichstag fire? I doubt many of
the events that followed the fire would ve occurred if the Reichstag building was still intact. Ergo, I
believe that the fire was more important to Hitler. Throughout this essay I will look at the effects of
both events analysing supporting evidence to evaluate how they impacted Hitler. The main effects
of the Reichstag fire are the following: it created a state of emergency, it made enemies of the
Communists and increased support for the Nazis. The main effects of the Enabling act are the
following: it transformed the democracy into a dictatorship, it allowed Hitler to ban all other
political parties and enforced terror and censorship.
Either the Nazis were extremely lucky and Lubbe started the Reichstag Fire on the night of
February 29th, 1933, or they staged the fire themselves. Nevertheless, the burning of the building
provided Hitler with the perfect opportunity to declare a state of emergency so he could use Article
48. (A law under the Weimar constitution, which, in the case of an emergency, would allow him to
pass any new laws without consulting the Reichstag). Hitler used Article 48 to introduce the

The Historical Backgrounds Of Emi Essay
This section outlines the historical backgrounds of EMI in terms of a paradigm shift in teaching
content subjects through English language. This section provides information under three EMI
periods, namely before, during and after transitional EMI periods.
Before an EMI period, Content based Instruction (CBI) and Content and Language Integrated
Learning (CLIL) were the well known approaches to teach subject contents through a second or
foreign language (L2) in western countries. CBI is an approach to L2 teaching that focuses on target
language and content (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Crandall Tucker, 1990). Swain and Johnson
(1997) pointed out that CBI is most often associated with the genesis of language immersion
education in North America in 1965. They also clarified that immersion is an innovation in
language education in Canada where French was used as a medium of instruction (MOI) for
students whose home language was Canadian English. CBI had a similar principle to immersion
which L2 is a medium of instruction. However, CBI showed a marked difference in characteristics
when it had three models of teaching (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Davies, 2003). The first model
was theme based language , of which content and language specialists created learning topics based
on students preference. The second model was adjunct language in which language specialists
linked language to content lessons. The third one was sheltered content where content specialists

Wireless Communications: Explosive Growth.
Explosive growth of wireless communications technology continues as the industry experiences
new subscribers and lower prices for services. The U.S. market had 100 million wireless
subscribers in year 2000, a 16.2 percent rise from 1999 of 86 million. In 1993, there were only
16 million wireless subscribers, a rise of 525 percent rise in subscribers over 7 years. Market
penetration rose 33 percent in 2000. In 1993, market penetration was only 6 percent. The explosive
growth can largely be attributed to intensive competition which forces prices down and increase
cellular phone usage. In fact, the market for wireless voice services is becoming mature. Growth
rates and heavy competition are restricting profit margins.
The U.S. telecommunications services industry will continue to expand in 2001. The popularity of
wireless phones has increased the demand for wireless cellular telephone service and reduced the
demand for in building wired phones. Approximately 50 percent of the population has access to a
wireless phone. With increased usage of wireless phones, the cost structure should be affordable to

Cellular phone growth has fueled expansion of network infrastructure expansion as well. In mid

Solubility increases with temperature because the increase in kinetic energy allows the solvent
molecules to break apart the solute molecules that are held together by intermolecular attractions.
Which salt is more soluble, KCl or NH4Cl? Explain your answer.

  • 2. Jumpstarter Inc. vs. Bob Hartley Essay Jumpstarter Inc. vs. Bob Hartley Name Institution Jumpstarter Inc. vs. Bob Hartley Introduction Jumpstater Inc had developed a product, Jumpstarter I, which was a pacemaker intended to regulate the heartbeat of an individual in the body. At the end of the nineties, the company discovered that the device became faulty when the body temperature increased above normal. To reverse the damage, the firm asked the medical facilities that had any unused product to return them to the company for credit. Additionally, Jumpstarter Inc. advised practitioners to remove any device that had already been implanted in the patients. Bob Hartley, a physician that had used the product in some of his patients, had to perform some serious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defendant In essence, Jumpstarter Inc may utilize comparative fault defense to seek partial liability in the case. Ideally, contributory negligence in the Jumpstarter case would attempt to have the plaintiff as a contributor to the harm caused. The use of comparative fault defense by Jumpstarter Inc would, therefore, be although the pacemaker failed and the applicant s case may be watertight, the defendant would still win because there was a timely recall of the product. The defendant would use the affirmative defense to agree and sympathize with the harm caused to the plaintiff but still assert that they did their part by recalling the product. Everyone In the case against Jumpstarter Inc., the plaintiff, Bob Hartley, will win. The rationale for this is because the manufacturer violated the law by damaging the confidence of their customers through the provision of faulty products. Recalling a product and fighting a legal case at the same time is not ethical. This action shows that the defendant does not take full responsibility for their negligence and the damage caused by their faulty goods. The best way to show remorse and full liability for the breach of the implied warranty, the contract would be to recall the product and give compensation to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Symptoms And Treatment Of Peripheral Nociceptors At High... 1.Introduction It is estimated that 20% of the European population suffer from chronic pain.1 The understanding of pain in research has considerably developed from the simplistic pain gate theory.2,3 It is now understood that stimulation of peripheral nociceptors at high threshold triggers central pathways that travel via the lateral spinothalamic tract to the medulla and brainstem.4 Nociceptive information also arrives via spinoreticular and spinomesencephalic tracts; controlling autonomic, arousal and homeostatic responses.56 Sensory firing is just one influence to central pain processing. Cortical areas associated with emotional valence, memory, autonomic and motor control are all seen to activate during a pain experience supporting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Large, fast conducting fibres (О± and ОІ fibres) inhibit small, multi synaptic, slow conducting fibres (C fibre) at the dorsal horn.13 Gaps were missing within this research due to available research resources; Noordenbos13 was unable to investigate past the spinal cord. This statement was unexplained yet it was a development in pain research. Melzack and Wall2 developed the pain gate theory based from the research by Noordenbos13. The theory explained what Noordenbos13 was unable to prove; impulses are projected to the brain via the dorsal column, where central processes influence the activity of the gate control system.2 Melzack3 critiqued his own research. The pain gate was too simplistic and only explained pain as a sensory dimension.3 Rather that, pain is an output of multi dimensional information being received and processed by a complex neural network within the brain, termed the neuromatrix .3,14,15 This guided away from the concept that pain was a sensation always produced by injury, inflammation or pathology to pain being a complex experience by multiple influences. The new explanation was also a suggestion to the nature behind some chronic pain conditions.3 Influences affecting such central processing extend from existing synaptic architecture imprinted within memory to neuro endocrine and immunological influences.3 Despite the resources of such knowledge being ... • 5. The Safety Of A Food Supply The stability of a food supply is often the most important thing a society can offer to its people. However, in a changing global environment filled with bacteria, viruses, and disease, scientists and farmers have continually tried to find ways to make food safer for consumers. The normal way currently is to use pesticides and preservatives to keep diseases at bay and keep foodfrom going bad and possibly causing harm to those who eat it. Some researchers, however, are still looking for safer and more effective ways to preserve food, and the idea of food irradiationhas been around since the early 1900 s. Anything involving radiation often scared consumers and makes them not trust the quality of the food, because they do not believe that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The FDA greatly expanded the use of food irradiation in the year 1986, even though it was already used for things such as wheat, flour, and potatoes. Before this time, radiation was thought of in food terms as an additive, not a process the food must go through. In fact, by 1988, some nineteen major countries had laws in place that allowed for certain foods to be irradiated to help better preserve them. The world is beginning to realize this form of preservation as a viable option, and the only thing left is for the consumer and the government to decide whether or not this should be a commonly used method. Food irradiation has many variables that make it exactly what it is. There are different types of irradiation that work on different types of food, and accomplish different tasks such as sterilization, disease prevention, or even acting as an insect repellent. The thing that truly defines the different types, however, is the type of radiation used. The most effective types include electron beam radiation, gamma ray radiation, and x ray radiation. Electron beam radiation is the shortest in terms of time needed to irradiate the food, but it also does not penetrate very deep, only about half a centimeter. This type of ray radiation is used to merely disinfect things like wheat and some grains. Gamma ray radiation is the use of Cobalt 60 in most places to irradiate the food. In fact, this type of radiation can penetrate up to six inches. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Morte D Arthur Research Paper Morte d Arthur, published in 1485, is a story written by Sir Thomas Mallory. Arthur, who is son of King Uther Pendragon but was raised by another family, takes his rightful place as king when, as a boy, he is able to pull the sword called Excaliburfrom the stone. In order to relate this story to todays time, Arthur s childhood is the center of attention. After Arthur was born, he was given away to other people to be raised, not by his biological parents. Arthur s being raised by different his non biological parents is similar to adoption in real life, and how it affected him and how it effects children in real life, will be the main focus. He wrote many statements concerning the fact that church and state should be separate and continued to live by those statements throughout his Presidency. The Aviation Industry Has Had On The Environment Introduction The civil aviation sector over the past hundred years has transformed into one of the most vital forms of transport in society today. This is due to a vast range of improvements and innovations. One major enhancement in an aircraft is its fuel efficiency; this was obtained through years of in depth research, engine development, avionics and its aerodynamics. The effect that the aviation industry has had on the environment has been relatively small but due to the increase in demands the emissions released by these aircrafts will increase as a result of this. The primary emissions released are carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and unburned hydrocarbons have all contributed to the deterioration of local air quality and eventually lead to an increase in greenhouse gases. • 25. The Development Of The Established Holy Bible Marcion of Sinope The development of the established Holy Bible was a long, drawn out process that started with the foundation of the original Jewish scriptures, formerly known as the Torah. Building off of Jewish ideals, theologians and philosophers started compiling scriptures with the ultimate result of the New Testament canon. Typically, many factors were taken into account when distinguishing the credibility or incredibility of a given scripture. For example, apostolic succession, where and when it was written as well as the cohesiveness with the other scriptures (referring to the Old Testament, as well as the documents within what was to become the New Testament). There were various depictions of the New Testament as the universally accepted canon was still developing, some of which contained writings that were certainly questionable. However, there was an initial establishment of the scriptural canon that jump started the process of paving the road towards the Holy Bibleas we know it today. It was the absurdity of Marcion s teachings and that prompted the church to establish an orthodox position on doctrine. Marcion was native to Sinope in Pontus, a small port town off of the inner coastline of Asia Minor. Rudy Givliani The 2nd Battalion 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Fort Bliss, Texas deployed to Florida in response to the Soviet Union threat, bringing one of the original versions of the Nike Hercules missile. (Carter, n.d.) The Nike Hercules missile is a Surface to Air missile (SAM) which is capable of destroying ballistic missiles and airplanes. Even though the Nike Hercules was capable of destroying a vast majority of ballistic missiles, its specifications did not match up to the Soviet Union threat with a distance of only 320 kilometers of travel. • 39. The Main Effects Of The Reichstag Fire Which was more important to Hitler, the Reichstag Fire or the Enabling Act? Both the Reichstag Fire and the Enabling Act contributed to Hitler becoming Der Fuhrer . Though would the Enabling Act have been attainable if it were not for the Reichstag fire? I doubt many of the events that followed the fire would ve occurred if the Reichstag building was still intact. Ergo, I believe that the fire was more important to Hitler. Throughout this essay I will look at the effects of both events analysing supporting evidence to evaluate how they impacted Hitler. The main effects of the Reichstag fire are the following: it created a state of emergency, it made enemies of the Communists and increased support for the Nazis. The main effects of the Enabling act are the following: it transformed the democracy into a dictatorship, it allowed Hitler to ban all other political parties and enforced terror and censorship. Either the Nazis were extremely lucky and Lubbe started the Reichstag Fire on the night of February 29th, 1933, or they staged the fire themselves. Nevertheless, the burning of the building provided Hitler with the perfect opportunity to declare a state of emergency so he could use Article 48. (A law under the Weimar constitution, which, in the case of an emergency, would allow him to pass any new laws without consulting the Reichstag). Hitler used Article 48 to introduce the Reichstag Fire Decree and the Enabling Act. The cartoon The Red Peril 1 by British cartoonist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Historical Backgrounds Of Emi Essay This section outlines the historical backgrounds of EMI in terms of a paradigm shift in teaching content subjects through English language. This section provides information under three EMI periods, namely before, during and after transitional EMI periods. Before an EMI period, Content based Instruction (CBI) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) were the well known approaches to teach subject contents through a second or foreign language (L2) in western countries. CBI is an approach to L2 teaching that focuses on target language and content (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Crandall Tucker, 1990). Swain and Johnson (1997) pointed out that CBI is most often associated with the genesis of language immersion education in North America in 1965. They also clarified that immersion is an innovation in language education in Canada where French was used as a medium of instruction (MOI) for students whose home language was Canadian English. CBI had a similar principle to immersion which L2 is a medium of instruction. However, CBI showed a marked difference in characteristics when it had three models of teaching (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Davies, 2003). The first model was theme based language , of which content and language specialists created learning topics based on students preference. The second model was adjunct language in which language specialists linked language to content lessons. The third one was sheltered content where content specialists ...
