Knowledge Vs Evils
Not all information is useful to all people. Some information can hinder a person s life. Depending
on the person and depending on the information, some knowledge is better left unknown. However,
for others, the same information that would have hindered one persons would be helpful to theirs.
One example of this information is the knowledge that evilis in the world. For some, knowing
about the evil in the world could scare them into not living a normal and happy life. For others
knowing about evil could make them aware they need to be alert to keep themselves safe from
danger. So, is it always better to know that there is evil or is it better to be oblivious to the evils of
the world? In the case of the story Little Red Cap by Jacob and... Show more content on

Little Red Cap then filled the wolf up with heavy stones so that when he woke up and tried to
run away he would die (Grimm 1083). This experience with the wolf showed Little Red Cap that
there were things in the world that would hurt her, and it also showed her she had to be more
careful about who she trusted with information about herself. The reader knows that this
knowledge Little Red Cap gained made her wiser when she claims As long as I live, I will never
leave the path and run off into the woods by myself (Grimm 1084). Little Red Cap could have
avoided this life threatening situation all together if she would have known about creatures like the

Property Valuation Essay
In the case of the awareness creation, 63 respondents, which means majority of the households
answered as there was no awareness creation that shows shortcoming on one of procedures of
property valuation in expropriation. According to Tony O Sullivan (2003), Housing, which is one
of the major types of real property, is an inherently complex commodity with spatial fixity for which
many aspects must be taken in to consideration in its valuationand expropriation process. The writer
of this study concluded that people who were expropriated had no chance to discuss the economic,
social, and cultural aspects in the process of expropriation depending on the above majority
response in table(3). In real property appraisal, the objective of... Show more content on

It is known that when there is no consideration of property type, on the other hand, there is no
selection of valuation method. Because, selection of valuation method and identification of
property type mostly go together. Description of the property which is the subject of a valuation
report is one of the scientific procedures of valuation (http://www.iacenig.org/CEthics.html). This is
realized from the fact that for the selection of valuation method, the available data and the type of
property (commercial or residential) plays important role.
IA CE (2008) says that, The procedure and method for deciding a given value in question is a
matter for the valuer himself to determine. Nevertheless, better valuation practice needs that the
method selected be right for the purpose, hold consideration of all the factors that have a bearing
on the value, and are presented in a clear and logical way .
There are three major types of property valuation methods and selection of the appropriate method
according to the condition of the property is the most important precondition to reach at the most
accurate value of the property. Regarding this condition, 4(80%) of the expert respondents reacted
as there was no consideration of the alternative method in Gimbi town during expropriation. From
this response, the researcher approved that there was no concept of valuation methods. Here, what
should be understood is that, they use the idea that says current cost or market price as

Lucid Dreaming Essays
Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming is: dreaming while aware that you are dreaming. Webster s definition of lucidity
continues with clearness of thought or style and a presumed capacity to perceive the truth directly
and instantaneously . In this sense, lucid dreaming is associated with controlling one s dreams as
they are happening. It is a term that was coined by Frederik van Eeden in the Proceedings of the
Society for Psychical Research, Vol. 26, 1913:
I can only say that I made my observations during normal deep and healthy sleep, and that in 352
cases, I had full recollection of my day life and could act voluntarily, though I was so fast asleep
that no bodily sensations penetrated my perception. If anybody refuses to call that ... Show more

What is the cause of these different levels of rationality among dreaming? The current thought is
indicating that that there is a lack of understanding about what is and what is not appropriate to
the time and place of the dreamworld (Levitan, A Fool s Guide to Lucid Dreaming , 1994). This
theory postulates that while absurdity is inherent in dreams, lack of practice in dream manipulation
can cause the dreamer to confront ideas that may cause the dreamer to lose control of lucidity. This
lack of understanding may cause the dreamer to misinterpret the dream and to have moments of
self doubt. There are three main situations that tend to initiate loss of control and rationality in a
dream: Being afraid of physical harm; Being afraid of social consequences; Thinking that another
dream character is really there. All of these pitfalls can inhibit a dreamer from achieving a higher
state of lucidity in his dreams.
Why Would You Want to Have Lucid Dreams?
There are many reasons that people will want to have lucid dreams. The first desire for a lucid
dream comes from the pleasure and excitement of being able to control one s dreams and achieve
actions that are not possible. The most common of these dreams is the ability to fly, the

Monsanto Pros And Cons
Many people talk about GMOs without even knowing what they are. GMO stands for
genetically modified organism, which does not sound like an appetizing name. (Whitman 1).
The GMOs discussed in this essay will be the GMOs developed by Monsanto, Monsanto is most
known for their genetically modified corn seeds; they make their seeds resistant to Roundup so
that farmers can spray the entire crop with Roundup and not have any adverse effects on the
finished product (Whitman 1). One may ask, why corn? This is a good question, corn is the
biggest crop grown in America because it can easily break down into many different components
that can make up so many other resources. In fact, corn is found in more than one half of the
items found at the grocery store. Corn is easily broken down into high fructose corn syrup, and so
many other things, corn has even made its way into diapers (Bawa and Anilakumar). The use of
GMOs is widely considered safe, but there is a body of recent evidence that has proven otherwise.
The use of GMOs in corn crops, although at first sight seem very beneficial to almost all aspects of
corn farming, upon further inspection may have many unforeseen downfalls. One cannot have a
conversation about GMOs without talking about Monsanto. Monsanto was founded in 1901 but
has not become a big factor until fairly recently. As previously mentioned, Monsanto genetically
modifies their seeds to resist the effects of Roundup, they do this to many seeds but mainly corn.
The corn crops have been putting many small farmers out of business because of one smart
adjustment that Monsanto has done to the corn s DNA. They made it so that the plants do not
reproduce (Bawa and Anilakumar). This makes it so that farmers who use GMOs have to go out
and buy new seeds every year, and this gets very expensive. On top of this, the farmers need to
buy Roundup and other resources. Interestingly enough, the farmers lose money every year at
harvest time (Bawa and Anilakumar). One may be prompted to ask, how do the farmers stay in
business? The only way that the farmers make money is because corn is subsidized by the
government, this is how the farmers make their money. The farmers who do not use GMOs end up
most of the time going

Religion and Science in the Classroom Essay
Science, in Albert Einstein s words, describes what is. Such a description consists of certain laws of
nature, which summarize observed patterns, and theories (Peshkin 46). Science and religion are the
main components of the ongoing national debate about the teaching of evolution in our public
schools (Peshkin 46).Various religions reject or ignore the contributions of science, arguing that
science displaces God, questions religious belief, and degrades morality (Molloy 547). Others
disagree, appreciating science and the important information that has broadened our knowledge by
providing explanations for natural phenomenon, and continuously enriching our lives. In some
religions and traditions, science poses ethical questions. Does... Show more content on

If public school teachers want to inform students about creationism, they should do so in a religion
class, not a science class.
Intelligent design or Creationism, as typically viewed on by its American advocates, draws on a
literal interpretation of the Judeo Christian tradition that the world is no more than 6,000 years
old and that all species of life on the planet were created over a period of 6 days by a
monotheistic deity (Overton 934). In contrast, evolutionary theory maintains that biological life
originated by way of a natural selection process over billions of years (Morris 78).The concept of
evolution, since its inception as a scientific theory through publication of Charles Darwin s Origin
of Species in 1859, has faced religious opposition (Verma 206). Intelligent Design has been
gaining acceptance in the United States. According to a series of polls, conducted during the last
25 years, about 50% Americans believe in the original form of Creationism (Lewontin, 2005).
Former President Bush agreed to teaching evolution and intelligent design side by side in science
classes (Dawkins Coyne, 2005). A school board in Dover, Pennsylvania voted against introduction
of intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in biology classes (Goodstein, 2005). In Kansas
the school board accepted intelligent design as part of the curriculum alongside evolution (Wilgoren,

he made to register in college and drop outs, he never lost hope of his dream. This trait made him
to look as one of the most persevering person ever seen. This trait portrayed by Tom is one of its
kind that should be emulated by the youths today since the challenges faced by the youths
worldwide today are the same ones Tom went through. The fact that we may lose our parents at
an early age should not discourage us from reaching our set goals in life. They should in fact be a
motivating factor to us to harden us and allow us move even further. Having the end in mind for a
youth is a very crucial factor. This gives the student a sense of direction and makes them have the
ability to plan their future by being schedulers of their priorities and not prioritizers of their

The Core Features Of Teacher Professional Development
CHAPTER II REVIEW OF LITERATURE Chapter II presents a review of the previous research
in five areas. First, it presents a review of brief history, importance and the core features of teacher
professional development. Second, it presents main stages and primary models of teacher
professional development. Third, it presents the role of principal leadership in a teacher s
professional growth. Fourth, it presents a review of some cases of successful and unsuccessful
teacher professional development programs of American public schools, and some reasons for
failure of professional development programs. Finally, it presents the basic concepts and principles
of National Staff Development Council s professional development framework and its importance
and application in teacher professional development process. History, Importance, and Main
Features Brief History of Teacher Professional Development The educational reform movement in
the United States has set ambitious goals and many factors contribute to accomplish them.
However, many researchers accept the fact that improvement in the teachers instructional beliefs
and practices lead to academic improvement (Birman at el., 2000; Cuban, 2009; Garet et al, 2000;
Glickman, 2002). Furthermore, student outcomes mostly rely on teachers and their teaching
(Haycock, 1998). Realization of this fact led educational scholars and policy makers to consider
professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their knowledge and

Consumer Discrimination And Sexual Orientation Based...
Earlier this year, the concepts of consumer discrimination and sexual orientation based
discrimination have come to a forefront in American politics and should be dealt with through
federal legislation (Payne, 2015). Two arguments which can be used to argue on the side of
discrimination are the First Amendment used in tandem with corporate personhood and the First
Amendment used on its own. I argue, however, that corporate personhood is not a legitimate
argument nor is the First Amendment grounds for an individual to discriminate against another.
Another defense of discrimination against consumers is the first section of the Thirteenth
Amendment. The elimination and prevention of the entirety of such discrimination could be
carried out through enacting a single two part law. Two defenses of discrimination include a
combination of the First Amendment with each current precedent regarding corporations and of its
own accord. Current precedent is the concept of corporate personhood wherein a corporation is
treated as a person albeit with controversy regarding their treatment (Ripken, 2010). When this
precedent is used in tandem with the provision that the free exercise of religion shall not be
prohibited in the First Amendment, this makes a case that the government may not prohibit a
corporation from exercising a religion (U.S. Const. amend. XIX). The other possible argument
regarding the First Amendment is the individual s right to exercise their religion. Each of these

Cons Of Animal Conservationism
Third, as mentioned a few times in this paper, conservationism views animals as natural resources
for the consumption of humans. Consumption meant literally and figuratively, in that animals are
valued for their entertainment value at the zoo for humans to consume . In Constructing
Consumables and Consent , author Cathy B. Glenn discussed the two common and codependent
corporate discursives in factory farms, yet, also used by conservationists like PNM. First,
doublespeak , a word of phrase that deliberately obscures language to hide the harmful truth.
Stakeholders, like PNM, are pros at coming up with doublespeak to conceal the environmental
damage they take part it for the continued extraction of coal. Next, the creation of speaking animals
to sell products, like the experience of the zoo.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, there are real dangers our planet faces of running out of vital resources to sustain the
human population. But, conservation of resources, frames itself in a positive light, and masks the
reality that conservationism is purely for human benefit and does not take into account the animals
or nature. Also, speaking animals, or zoo goers speaking for animals is problematic. For
instance, amid my visit to the zoo, I heard two zoo goers speak to each other about, Why is that
Tazmanian Devil just sleeping and the other replied, speaking for the animal, I am just taking a
Saturday afternoon nap . This is problematic because the animal is seen as happily taking a nap
and it is not considered that perhaps the animal is bored and does not want to be there. As
conservationists, PNM would approve of speaking animals because it distances the zoo goer from
the harmful facts behind

I Am A Person Who Is Impaired, Disturbed, Sensitive,...
This question is on that has plagued many lost individuals for years and will continue to do so. I
have racked my brain for ages trying to find my place among my peers. With much thinking, I
have narrowed this topic down to five sub topics that I think define me almost perfectly. Who am
I? I am a person who is fixer by nature, shy, sensitive, misunderstood, and smart. I am a fixer by
nature because I tend to take on other people s emotions and problems. I try to fixthese people and
their problems. For example, if I were to happen upon an abandoned woman who is sitting on the

I also cry during the ASPCA commercials containing pictures and videos of abandoned, abused,
emaciated, helpless, little animals. I know that I can be an enormous ball of self pity at times.
How can I ditch these feelings of complete anguish? I can t! There is nothing I can possibly do
but be me. Beneath the many layers of emotional turmoil, lies a happy, fun, and energetic being
yearning to emerge from the darkest depths of deception. The inner workings of a deep seeded
individual such as me can be perceived in several different ways. One may be disturbed, strange,
odd, or often mistaken, but by all means, I am neither of these common misconceptions. My
brain is quite complex when it comes to understanding crazy social scenes and large outlandish
public gatherings. I truly dislike being surrounded by large unruly crowds of people because
there is no place for a timid, scared, being to run away and hide. I feel as though I am the main
attraction is some type of freak show or big top circus! I feel as if everyone is staring, pointing,

How My Military Has Changed My Life For Me
Life for me in the military has changed me in many different ways like, trusting a person that
looked different, reasonability, and working in places that the environment isn t friendly. It taught
me to be accountable for my actions. As a 17 year old young man, I was always the one to make a
lot of excuses for anything that I was too lazy to complete. The militarymade me a responsible
person. People knew that my word was solid if I said the task was complete, and trust was being
earned. In the military trust is one of the biggest factors that keeps us alive during a mission,
without it we are doomed. As my knowledge grew it came with reasonability and promotions.
But, I still got in trouble but each time I learned from it. I m 19 now and I m in charge of a 20
million dollar jet aircraft. The Navymade me see that attention to detail should be your priority
just behind safety. I learned that slow is fast on some jobs. You don t always have time to do

The Rich Brother Tobias Wolff Analysis
In Tobias Wolff s short story, The Rich Brother , two brothers living completely different lives
reunite when Donald s car breaks down, and the wealthier of the two Pete, invites him to stay at
his house. Not only is Pete a kind, sensible person but he is wealthy, married, has a sustainable
job, two daughters, a sailboat, and a house near the ocean. Compare this to Donald, someone
who owes Pete a lot of money, settles for what he can afford, and is always on the move, and
Pete is the richer of the two brothers. First of all, Pete is living an enjoyable life, at the age of
forty Pete took up sky diving with two of his friends. (Wolff 324) He is doing things that he
describes as mystical and he doesn t have to worry about how much it costs. (Wolff 324) The

Donald worries each time Pete lends him money and is always worrying about everyone else s

rarely sees that much money at one time. After Donald tried to deny taking the money, Pete

Finance, Banking And Finance Industry
When you drive up to your bank or walk up to your teller, your main goal is to complete your
transaction and move on with your day. The last thing on your mind is how that transaction is
taking place. You don t care what happens behind the scenes as long as your money is where it
needs to be and is safe. As the banking and financeindustry has transformed, so has the process of
how your money is handled. To accompany those changes, regulators and lawmakers create laws
designed to protect consumers, banks, and the economy as a whole. As you will learn, the history
of the banking industry has changed drastically over the last two thousand years and even more so
in the last century with the advance of technology. It only makes sense that those lawmakers must
continue to update and invent new regulation to further protect those interested parties. My goal is
to demonstrate just how rapidly and radically the finance industry has changed and how new
elements being introduced to finance and banking will adapt the industry and the regulation.
In the world of finance and financial services, banking has been around longer than any other
segment of that world. For more than two millenniums, bankers have served as money changers
who aided people in exchanging foreign for local currencies. As this practice grew and many began
to throw their funds into the banking system, the services that banks performed multiplied. Loans

fears as DACA recipients. The film will close with the plans of these organizations and students
moving forward; what consequences they fear and what can be done by the average person to

DACA defendants are doing important work on campus with real concrete effects on fellow
students and faculty, who are threatened by the repeal of DACA and that ending DACA is a

The Literary Style Of Cavendish s The Blazing World
In the epilogue of The Blazing World, Cavendish puts forth that anyone who does not wish to be
a subject of her world can instead create their own (Cavendish 163), but how does one do this? In
the story, the Empress asserts that in order to create a world one must frame it, strengthen it, and
beautify it (126). The literary world that she creates in The Blazing World itself follows this
system as her use of structured lists, her descriptions of the strength of her society and her use of
poetic techniques in prose each support these ideas. This principal of world creation can be seen not
only throughout The Blazing World, but through her poetryas well. In her poem Of Many Worlds in
This World, Cavendish is able to convey these three rules of world building through both form
and content while creating a whole system of worlds for the reader to imagine. The passage of
The Blazing World that this essay will focus on is a passage in which the Duchess convinces the
Empress to make a world in her mind which the Empress decides not to dissolve. The passage
ends with the Empress desiring to see the Duchess s world and it s government and society. This
passage not only creates a world within the text, a world filled with creatures, laws, arts and
sciences (126), but adds to the greater world of the story that Cavendish creates. In this passage
one can see a bit of how Cavendish creates her world through both the content of the passage and
form. This passage exhibits the framing

Get Paid For Grades
Title of Your Report
Should students be paid for receiving good grades? Yes students should get paid for having good
grades. Many students don t really care about their grades because they don t get a reward. Many
teens don t do nothing to fix their grades they only fix it when they are on a sport. If parents would
reward them for having good grades students would have A and B. Students should get paid
because it teaches to be responsible with money, it can also motivate them, and it can help them in
the future.
To begin, Students could be responsible with things if they could see how hard it is to earn what
they want. Money teaches teens to save and only buy what they need not what they want. Most
parents reward students with money because students want to buy lunch because they don t like
school lunches. Teens are spending most of their money on food. Rewarding students makes them
feel to try harder and harder each time.
Another reason, Parents can motivate students by paying them for having excellent grades and
excellent behavior. Well you might be asking yourself how does money benefit students? Well it
motivate teens to maintain high grades. And it can actually help them in the future for example for
college. Another question you might have is how much should i paid my student? Well most parents
paid students $20 for each A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Money can help them paid for lunch. They could also paid for something they lost such as a
book. How can money help students in the future? Well it can help them paid for collage. Money
can also help students if they have an accident in the future. You might be asking yourself, is
giving students money a good thing or a bad thing? Giving teens money is a good thing because
they can buy what they need for school. But giving students too much money could be bad because
most teens are responsible when it comes to

effective way for increasing in photocatalytic activity. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide
nanoparticles were synthesized by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can
greatly enhance the cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various
cell lines and paracetamol drug. These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic
and other techniques which clearly revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The UV vis
spectroscopy displayed the absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after doping with La
which is extremely favorable for absorbing the visible light. We compared the enhancing effect of
La ions and found that La doped ZnO nanoparticles is more effective than ZnO nanoparticles in
promoting the generation of hydroxyl radicals, holes and the photocatalytic activity of

Summary Of The Lion By Brian Steinwall
When a small plane crashes into the Ecuador s rainforest two survivors of the crash, the
Frenchman Didier and the Belgian man Florent, set out on a journey through the jungle,
desperate to find a way out of it. Bit by bit the harsh environment sucks their strength away and it
seems that several days of walking don t bring them any closer to civilization. Then they stumble
upon ruins of an ancient city with burial sites and a cave full of gold. They believe it is the
legendary treasure gathered by the Incas in the 16th century to pay for release of their emperor,

Guidelines For Writing A Pte Essay
PTE Academic Test Taking Strategies
Write essay
This is a long answer item type that assesses writing skills and requires you to write a persuasive
or argumentative essay on a given topic.
You will have 20 minutes to plan, write and revise an essay about the topic below. Your response
will be judged on how well you develop a position, organize your ideas, present supporting details,
and control the elements of standard written English. You should write 200 300 words.
Some people think placing advertisements in schools is a great resource for public schools that
need additional funding, but others think it exploits children by treating them as a captive audience

To focus your ideas, you should п¬Ѓrst try to think of one strong sentence to sum up the main
argument, then think of one strong opening sentence and one strong closing sentence. Once you
have done this, you can add details and supporting points to expand the sentence that sums up the
main argument to create the body of your essay. You can then develop the opening sentence to
create the introduction and the closing sentence to create the conclusion. To practice this strategy,
do the following activities:
Look at Item 1 and decide which point of view you most agree with. Now write the topic and your
point of view at the top of the writing space. Then write the following in a column on the left:
Introduction (presentation of topic, argument and challenge to argument) Main body (details
disproving the challenge to the argument, details supporting own point of view) Conclusion
(restatement of argument and supporting claim)
Spend a few minutes brainstorming ideas. Write your ideas next to the most appropriate sections of
the essay. (e.g., Introduction: advertising in schools = great idea for school funding; Main body:
many schools underfunded, controlled advertising could bring in needed money, students/teachers
could vote on which companies are allowed to advertise, schools do not need to accept advertising
from inappropriate companies, ...Conclusion: controlled advertising in schools could be very

Strength Of Majority Government
I personally feel that the process of changing/creating laws is very redundant, and makes passing
bills a slow and grueling process. I understand that the bill needs to be read over and changed
several times before it fits all of the needs and wants of the many politicians present in the House
of Commons, but I do not see the need for three readings of the bill, which can end up becoming
shouting matches between the opposing parties because of their beliefs. Besides that, the system
of creating laws is also lopsided in favour to majority governments, as if they have more than half
of the seats then they can near pass or vote out whatever laws fit their agenda. On top of this, I do
not see the need for the Senate to repeat the process over again,... Show more content on

I would personally abolish the Senate, as I find it a nuisance to the law making process, and I
also believe that the Senators do not hold the values of the government in power (since they are
not voted in), which could halt the law making process altogether if the Senate does not agree
with what the government in power proposes. To cut down on the law making processes time, I
would also cut the amount of readings from three readings, a committee stage and a report stage,
down to two readings, the first where they debate the bill and study the bill clause by clause, and
the second where the cast amendments and vote of the final bill. Lastly, by abolishing the Royal
Assent stage, which is basically just a formality, the process of creating and changing laws would
become even quicker. All of these changes to the process of changing bills would drastically speed
up legislation, thus allowing the government to adapt and create laws quicker, allowing the

Developing World And Secondly Canada s Responsibility Of...
This paper considers two issues: firstly, human rights in the developing world and secondly Canada
s responsibility of humanitarian assistance. Both issues are of grave importance and are mutually
exclusive as nations lacking strong human rights standards are more likely to require the greatest
humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the need for humanitarian assistance will increase as global
crises become more frequent, due to climate change insecurity (Adger, Huq, Brown, Conway
Hulme, 2003). The example of climate change will be utilised throughout this paper to explore the
disparaging links between climate justice and human rights. In defining humanitarian assistance this
paper will take Jamieson s (2004) definition that humanitarian assistance is a response to crises via
support in the short term to overcome disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Whereas,
development assistance considers the longer term issues in developing countries. By defining the
two main types of assistance this paper will propose that greater investment into development aid
may reduce the need for humanitarian aidas nations become more capable to support themselves.
The body of this paper will consider key arguments concerning humanitarian assistance and human
rights, including: Canadas humanitarian response in the developing world, the increasing need for
global crisis response, human rights as a global responsibility and lastly the move from
humanitarian to development assistance. In

has broken free he can now look all around him, and see the objects as they really are and the

he states that the freed prisoner would be shocked by the outside world, he would not be able to

Tricking And Tripping Claire Sterk Summary
Claire E. Sterk s article Tricking and Tripping: Fieldwork on Prostitution in Era of AIDS published
by Social Change Press in 2000 takes into account the patterns and procedures that anthropologists
take into practice during fieldwork. She provides some useful insights and learnt lessons during her
studies with prostitutes. She also provides a close and intimate account of their lives and mental
state in their own words. Her findings are substantiated with proper examples in the accounts of the
daily lives of these women. Unlike most student s expectation of fieldwork as a leisure activity at
some serene place, Sterk observes the pain associated with the lifestyle and brings into light some
important patterns and procedures that anthropologists must consider while interviewing a research
group. Sterk establishes her point of view about importance of general study of culture by
provoking the essential human quality of compassion. She does so by describing the prostitutes as
not alien and showing fine human qualities. Their habitual formations and mental qualities are like
other ordinary humans. She emphasizes this theme by highlighting a poem written by a prostitute.

How Police Officers Are Affected By Loud Noise From The Gun
How Police officers are affected by loud impulsive Noise from the Gun
Introduction
Noise is one of the most widespread causes of hearing loss, and the most likely causes of
occupational illnesses in the United States (Leigh 728). Acute or prolonged exposure to high
level, impulsive noise is an ongoing problem for the military and defense forces all over the world
(Sliwinska Kowalska and Adrian Davis 274). One shot from a big caliber firearm, perceived at a
close range, may permanently or temporarily damage an individual hearing in an instant.
Additionally, repeated exposures to noisy machinery may, over an extensive period of time,
impose serious risks to human hearing. According to the report released by National Institute on
Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD); ten million Americans have already
suffered permanent hearing damage from noise and thirty to fifty million individuals are exposed
to hazardous noise levels every day (Leigh 728). Many hearing illness in the police service
originate from the noise caused by gunshots. As a result of increased cased of hearing problem,
mainly in the police service, many scholars have engaged in research in order to get appropriate
mean to control these problem. Considering the increasing investigation from military groups for
vital information on how to protect from impulse noise, it is vital to explore health effects
associated with impulse noise from gunshots. This study explores the effects on hearing caused by

Societal Values In Jane Eyre
The Victorian Era in England embraced strict societal values that dictated how women should
submit to their parents when they are young, and to their husband when they are grown. While
these notions may seem unnecessarily harsh from a modern standpoint, the phenomenon of
finding comfort in these rigid standards existed during this time. For example, a woman who
marries a wealthy man may be required to give up many of her own faculties and submit to her
spouse s rules, but she may be at ease knowing that she is well taken care of in terms of basic
necessities in addition to luxury items. The idea of finding immense support in rigid notions played
a central role in the identity and culture of Victorian England. This idea permeates in the life of the
protagonist of the novel Jane Eyreby Charlotte Bronte. Having grown up in an in which neither
her intellect nor her emotions were ever acknowledged, Jane wrestles with the idea of conforming
to Victorian standards for a woman, versus finding freedom in following her own passions as a
single woman. Her journey through childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood force her to
reckon with which restraints are worth enforcing and which would prove unnecessary, even
harmful, if embraced . Bronte represents Jane as a heroic woman of her time in the way that she
remains true to herself despite instances of imprisonment and entrapment during each stage of her
life. After the death of her parents, Jane is sent to live with her

same lessons, and same takeaways. Understandably, it becomes harder to feel involved in these

unfortunately very true for how educators are teaching the student body and faculty about how rape

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The United States
The United States is a melting pot now more than ever. The biggest reason for this change is largely
due from immigration and birthrates. Over the past thirty years immigrants who have come to
American have been primarily non Europeans including Asians, and people from South and Central
America. In the year 2000, the United Statescensus recorded 2.4 percent of the population in the
United States to have multiracial backgrounds. Although this may not sound like a big number,
Americans have had to adapt to being more culturally competent. Cultural competence is, The
process by which individuals and systems respond respectfully and effectively to people of all
cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors in a
manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of individuals, families, and communities
and protects and preserves the dignity of each. The Census Bureau believes that by 2050, nearly
fifty percent of America s population will be minorities. When the civil rights movement began in
the 1950 s, African Americans and other minority groups tried to alert the United States their
distinct identities. They felt that their long history of oppression especially in the United States had
to come to an end. Immigrants who come to this country bring certain qualities that Americans do
not obtain. Whether it is their language, religion, cultureor even different political backgrounds. As

Parenthesis In Virginia Woolf
Now, when the reader wants to know more about what Jacob does in his room, the author
introduces the other characters at Cambridge, like Professor Huxtable, Sopwith, and Erasmus

themselves are sporadic, random and inconclusive, the action is presented in fragments. The move
or break in the narration makes it fragmentary, and it creates a kind of difficulty to maintain the
harmony of the incidents. The entire novel is set in a form where there is never any concrete
explanation of what is happening and why is happening. Rather, it is left on reader to find the link
between the scattered events. Parenthesis: Virginia Woolf makes use of parenthesis in her writing

Biological And Environmental Causes Of Homosexuality Essay
According to the American Psychological Association (2013), science has shown that the causes of
homosexuality are generally related to the biological and environmental factors. There are a wide
range of environmental factors, such as sociological and psychological, and various genetic factors
that contribute to homosexuality, and though researchers agree that it is caused between a relatively
complex interchange between nature and nurture, they favor the biological models for its cause.
Biological models, such as theories and studies that explains sex linkages, chromosomal patterns

Alcohol And Its Effects On Alcohol
Abstract
Alcohol has long been a subject of controversy. Long before man understood the indications and
contraindications of alcohol there has been laws against this drug. Classifying alcohol as a drug
may not be suited for a majority of the population because people like to partake in drinking.
Imbibing in alcohol is a tradition in many parts of the country. We use alcohol for celebrations,
traditions, socialization and combining food flavors with specific alcohols. Forgetting that too
much can lead to many issues and problems like alcoholism, liver disease and contraindications with
other medications. Alcohol was extremely detrimental to the native Americans of this land.
Keywords: alcohol, tradition, addiction, indications, contraindications, liver disease, native
Americans.
Alcohol Abuse and its Indications
Alcohol has been around for many centuries, involving tradition, religion, and social gatherings.
For many using alcohol is not a problem because they fall into the categories listed above. In
some churches, the use of wine is used to represent the blood of Christ, although many have
turned to grape juice now. Others use alcohol as a custom for watching football or perhaps
traditionally within some cultures like the Irish, who drink daily for continued health. And lastly,
social gatherings are also an excuse to drink up and celebrate any event in one s life. What most
people fail to realize is that drinking can lead to health issues and dependence.

Hamlet As A Turning Point Essay
In Aristotle s Poetics, he discusses the elements that are involved in making a great tragedy,
specifically. His methods have been followed by many a playwright, even if they do not decide
this consciously. Shakespeare is somewhat of an outlier, generally defying much of the traditional
rules set forth. Even so, Shakespeare s plays can still show signs of Aristotle s elements, and his
methods can provide a deeper reading into plot, character, thought (theme), diction, song, and
spectacle. By analyzing Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, using Aristotle s six elements and his
definition of a turning point, one is able to uncover Hamlet s false madness and see that his true
intentions are set on revenge.
The six elements are described as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two are essential to each other because plot informs character, while character moves the
plot along. In Hamlet, the main character and protagonist of Hamlet does just that. He has many
obstacles to overcome, and his actions are what drive the plot forward. For example, because
Hamlet made the decision to bring the players to put on a scene similar to the event of his father
s murder, he is able to discern that Claudius is the killer because of his reaction to the play. After
this occurrence, Hamlet is driven to enact revenge of Claudius, finally having proof. Hamlet
provides the clear conflict which gives the play its arc. Without him, the play would cease to be.
The third element is thought, or theme. This aspect is the central idea of the play. In Hamlet,
one of the many themes is revenge. Revenge is what drives Hamlet to seek justice and to not
stop until his father s murderer is dead. This theme is present throughout the course of the play
and is not concluded until Hamlet kills Claudius in the final scenes, as well as also killing
himself. Hamlet s façade is further shown through diction. Diction being the language of the
play, Hamlet uses mainly verse. Verse was generally reserved for the upper class, and in his case,
royalty. As Prince of Denmark, the other characters in the play expect him to speak and hold
himself in a certain manner. But when there are moments where Hamlet seems mad or

Themes Of Losing My Religion
Losing My Religion
R.E.M. was an American Rock Band that formed in 1980. They are from Athens, Georgia and
were one of the first alternative rock bands. The members of the band were Michael Stipe, Peter
Buck, Mike Mills, and Bill Berry. Radio Free Europe was the first song that they released in 1981.
Out of Time and Automatic for the People were there two most successful albums. They have
many songs, but there most well known single is without a doubt Losing My Religion and it was
the first single that they released from their album Out of Time on February 19, 1991. Losing My
Religion was R.E.M. s biggest hit, the lyrics in the song go on to explore the feeling of love that is
not reciprocated, and the theme of the song is obsession.
The major theme of the song Losing My Religion is obession. It is clear that the singer is
obsessed with the girl that he is singing about because of the specific details given throughout the
entire song. Every whisper of every waking hour shows that he thinks of this girl all day long
and that she is the only thing that is on his mind all the time, but he does not know how to
express his feelings towards her. Oh no, I ve said too much states that he tried to give her hints of
his true feelings towards her, but he does not know if she picked up on those hints. I haven t said
enough implies that despite the strong feelings he has towards her, he fears that he never makes his
feelings clear enough to the girl.

Moving To America
Imagine living in a country set in their own ways, and you could never change that. Riddled with
disease and famine, you have no place to turn except to leave your homeland and pursue
opportunities in a country you have never been to. When you arrive in America matters seem to get
worse.
Without clothes, food, shelter, and no way to grow your community, you ask yourself this question,
was it really worth leaving?
The Norwegian immigrants that used to live in
America may ask this question. In 1825, 52
Norwegians traveled to America to seek religious freedom. In Norway from
1807 1814 many Norwegians were captured by the British in the war.
While they were there, many were introduced to Quakerism, and when they were released, they
brought these religious practices back with them. The Norwegian
Government did not approve of any religion besides Lutheran, so when the prisoners came back,
they decided to leave to avoid religious persecution. America was a great place to travel to, because
of its freedom of religion bill, which was passed in 1786. This bill allowed anyone to have the
religion they desired, and also granted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of them have resided in the Great Lakes Region and have developed major farming

once a day to check on our crops but we had no such luck. We finally decided to move to America
in 1841, and we settled in Minnesota. There we were living in a large farming community, and we
could safely say its the easiest choice we made. When asking the first Norwegians if it was worth
coming, it might be an entirely different story. But the Norwegians who have come recently could

Riordan should consider outsourcing as a one means of improving the supply chain. Outsourcing is
an approach to push the responsibility and decision making to other companies, which are a part of
several components of the supply chain. Company s find that outsourcing can provide some relief
to a company whom is experiencing a shortage of resources. Outsourcing could allow the company
to focus on the core process of the business while providing the flexibility needed during varying
demands. Supply chains management concentrate on inventory processes to complete the orders
that are requested (Chase, 2005). The movement toward a just in time inventory system (JIT)
could provide Riordan with continuous improvement in efficiencies to its fan production process.
Riordan will take the stance of eliminating all cost that does not add value to the product. The
China plant will be able to have their parts arrive at each workstation at the optimal time to
complete the process in a more efficient manner. Riordan will establish areas in their production
that are linked, which will provide a beneficial balance of flow of material throughout the
production process.

Preventing Underage Drinking
It s both dangerous and against the law, but young people between the ages of 12 and 20 are
responsible for 11 percent of the alcohol consumed annually in the United States. Underage
drinking also accounts for more than 4,300 deaths of young people in the U.S. each year. Here are
some signs that may indicate a teenager has been abusing alcohol. Major red flags include
differences in sleep patterns, appetite, and change of friends or physical appearance. When teens
fall in with a social circle that drinks heavily, they may display a change in attitude and hang out
in places and with people they did not associate with before. They may also lose interest in
activities they used to participate in. Underage drinking can lead to increased absences... Show more

children avoid alcohol problems by talking about the dangers of drinking, drinking responsibly, if

getting to know their children s friends, having regular conversations about life in general,
connecting with other parents about sending clear messages about the importance of not drinking
alcohol, supervising all parties to make sure there is no alcohol, encouraging kids to participate in
healthy and fun activities that do not involve alcohol. Research shows that children whose parents
are actively involved in their lives are less likely to drink alcohol. On the other hand, research
shows that a child with a parent who binge drinks is much more likely to binge drink than a child

Structure And Composition Of Atmosphere
Structure and Composition of Atmosphere
Earth is the only planet in the solar system known to harbour life. Our planet s rapid spin and
molten nickel iron core give rise to an extensive magnetic field, which, along with the atmosphere,
shields us from nearly all of the harmful radiation coming from the Sun and other stars. Earth s
atmosphere protects us from meteors, most of which burn up before they can strike the surface.
Nitrogen and Oxygen are the predominant gases in the atmosphere, accounting for about 99
percent of dry air. While 1 percent is mixture of all other gases make up the remaining 1 percent.
All the gases found in the atmosphere are natural except CFCs (invented by Thomas Midgley, Jr.
was an American mechanical engineer and chemist).

Anagnoristics And Peripeteia In Oedipus The King
Aristotle said the best plays have both an anagnorisis and a peripeteia which occur at nearly the
same time. Anagnorisis which means discovery and peripeteia which means reversal of fortune
have been a successful duo through the years. A simple way to state this is that within a story
there is a startling discovery, which brings a change from ignorance to knowledge. These theatrical
elements can make what appears to be a simple plot into an intriguing and attention grabbing story.
The play we watched and discussed in class, OedipusRex, is a good example of a story that contains
both anagnorisis and peripeteia. The story is a legend from around 430 B.C. written by Sophocles.
King Oedipus is the main character who I would consider a tragic hero. He wants to find the
cure for the plague that is taking over his kingdom called Thebes. Oedipus tries to find the
answers from an Oracle who according to Webster s Dictionary is a person whom a deity is
believed to speak through . The Oracle said that the plague is a curse because King Laius was
murdered and in order for the plague to stop, the murderer must be found. King Oedipus then
seeks out a blind seer who according to Webster s Dictionary is one that predicts events or
developments. His name is Teiresias and he says that there was an old prediction that Oedipus
would kill his father and marry his mother. So here is where the plot starts to twist around and
Oedipus is slowly piecing the story together. King Laius

For example, the announcer says, You know when you feel the weight of sadness. He does not
specifically say how long and how many times it occurs. The broadness leaves it up in the air for
interpretation; therefore, a person who has experienced sadness for three seconds yesterday
could self diagnose themselves with depression. Since everyone has experienced sadness before,
it immediately relates to everyone watching while making it personal to them at the same time
because he uses the word you ten times in the span of a minute. It makes a large effort to relate
to the largest amount of people possible the commercial can attract a larger amount of potential
buyers and convince doctors. The advertisement even goes as far as to make the main character
a featureless ball. Everything seems extremely bland from the creation of the circle and a single
blade of grass, which makes it open to interpretation as well. The main character is a generic
circle that is mostly associated with a human head. It is raceless, genderless, and ageless;
therefore, a person can look at the ball and compare it to themselves because it is a bland as a
stick figure majority have drawn in the first grade. The audience has the ability to evaluate it any
way they wish to make it more relatable to their specific situation. The more a person feels a

Summary Of Cimabue s Virgin And Child Enthroned
Cimabue created Virgin and Child Enthroned in about 1280, while Giotto di Bondone, an Italian
painter and architect, created his Virgin and Child Enthroned between 1305 and 1310 (Stokstad
Cothren, 548, 550). The two paintings have various similarities. However, the most obvious
similarities are that both focus on Mary and the Child Jesus, are long and pentagon shaped, and
include figures of angels and prophets. In addition, both paintings have a sort of Byzantine
influence (Cimabues painting more than Giotto s), including the golden backgrounds and the
hierarchy of the figures ( The Ognissanti ). However, there are many noticeable differences
between the paintings as well. In this discussion post, I will be focusing on three major
differences: the portrayal of Mary; the positioning of Mary and Jesus; and the placement of the
angels and prophets (including where the figures are looking).
Before I begin discussing the specific differences between the two paintings, it is important to
mention that the painting styles of Cimabue and Giotto differed significantly. Cimabue painted
with a more Gothic and Byzantine style. His figures tended to be two dimensional and thus his
paintings looked rather flat. He made his figures very elongated and stylised, which was common
among Gothic and Byzantine artists at the time ( Biography of Giotto ). Giotto, on the other hand,
while being slightly influenced by the Gothic and Byzantine style, largely deviated from the
traditional

Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy Introduction How did the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA),
the New Jersey emergency agencies and private insurance companies work together or did they?
to help victims of the horrific winds and water associated with Hurricane Sandy? This paper
delves into that issue. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy From news reports it would
appear that insurance companies did not provide the emergency assistance that victims of
Hurricane Sandy had hoped for. This is not to say that all insurance companies failed to deliver the
help that their policyholders expected, but clearly some companies failed to deliver, and their
efforts were not always in sync with FEMA and the NF Office of Emergency Management. For
example, as far as the National Flood Insurance Program s efficiency in getting checks to
homeowners, the payouts ...have not come quickly enough (Van Embden, 2013). Even now, nearly
three months since the storm passed, some residents...are still waiting for their checks, Van Embden
explains, noting that Jim Racanelli and his family have spent three months as nomads because
without a home (which was destroyed in the hurricane), and without money to rebuild, they are out
of luck (Van Embden). Typically insurance companies have 30 days to respond to claims, but when
a major storm causes emergency situations beyond the normal needs, that deadline is suspended,
Van Embden explains. Of the 350,000 homes in New Jersey that were either damaged

Jewish Influence On Jerry Seinfeld
Since the creation of the television, people from all walks of life have been tuned into their
favorite shows, news channels, and entertainment. Throughout the years, popular television shows

Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, depicts a group of friends who live in Manhattan, and through their
characters shows the everyday life for the individuals. Seinfeldis still one of the very popular
comedy sitcoms to come out during the 90 s. The reason that sets Seinfeld apart from other
televisionshows is how Jerry Seinfeld included through the characters and episodes the Jewish

  • 2. Knowledge Vs Evils Not all information is useful to all people. Some information can hinder a person s life. Depending on the person and depending on the information, some knowledge is better left unknown. However, for others, the same information that would have hindered one persons would be helpful to theirs. One example of this information is the knowledge that evilis in the world. For some, knowing about the evil in the world could scare them into not living a normal and happy life. For others knowing about evil could make them aware they need to be alert to keep themselves safe from danger. So, is it always better to know that there is evil or is it better to be oblivious to the evils of the world? In the case of the story Little Red Cap by Jacob and... The reader knows that this knowledge Little Red Cap gained made her wiser when she claims As long as I live, I will never leave the path and run off into the woods by myself (Grimm 1084). Property Valuation Essay In the case of the awareness creation, 63 respondents, which means majority of the households answered as there was no awareness creation that shows shortcoming on one of procedures of property valuation in expropriation. According to Tony O Sullivan (2003), Housing, which is one of the major types of real property, is an inherently complex commodity with spatial fixity for which many aspects must be taken in to consideration in its valuationand expropriation process. The writer of this study concluded that people who were expropriated had no chance to discuss the economic, social, and cultural aspects in the process of expropriation depending on the above majority response in table(3). It is known that when there is no consideration of property type, on the other hand, there is no selection of valuation method. Because, selection of valuation method and identification of property type mostly go together. Description of the property which is the subject of a valuation report is one of the scientific procedures of valuation (http://www.iacenig.org/CEthics.html). This is realized from the fact that for the selection of valuation method, the available data and the type of property (commercial or residential) plays important role. IA CE (2008) says that, The procedure and method for deciding a given value in question is a matter for the valuer himself to determine. Nevertheless, better valuation practice needs that the method selected be right for the purpose, hold consideration of all the factors that have a bearing on the value, and are presented in a clear and logical way . There are three major types of property valuation methods and selection of the appropriate method according to the condition of the property is the most important precondition to reach at the most accurate value of the property. Regarding this condition, 4(80%) of the expert respondents reacted as there was no consideration of the alternative method in Gimbi town during expropriation. From this response, the researcher approved that there was no concept of valuation methods. Here, what should be understood is that, they use the idea that says current cost or market price as ... • 4. Lucid Dreaming Essays Lucid Dreaming Lucid dreaming is: dreaming while aware that you are dreaming. Webster s definition of lucidity continues with clearness of thought or style and a presumed capacity to perceive the truth directly and instantaneously . In this sense, lucid dreaming is associated with controlling one s dreams as they are happening. It is a term that was coined by Frederik van Eeden in the Proceedings of the Society for Psychical Research, Vol. 26, 1913: I can only say that I made my observations during normal deep and healthy sleep, and that in 352 cases, I had full recollection of my day life and could act voluntarily, though I was so fast asleep that no bodily sensations penetrated my perception. If anybody refuses to call that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is the cause of these different levels of rationality among dreaming? The current thought is indicating that that there is a lack of understanding about what is and what is not appropriate to the time and place of the dreamworld (Levitan, A Fool s Guide to Lucid Dreaming , 1994). This theory postulates that while absurdity is inherent in dreams, lack of practice in dream manipulation can cause the dreamer to confront ideas that may cause the dreamer to lose control of lucidity. This lack of understanding may cause the dreamer to misinterpret the dream and to have moments of self doubt. There are three main situations that tend to initiate loss of control and rationality in a dream: Being afraid of physical harm; Being afraid of social consequences; Thinking that another dream character is really there. All of these pitfalls can inhibit a dreamer from achieving a higher state of lucidity in his dreams. Why Would You Want to Have Lucid Dreams? There are many reasons that people will want to have lucid dreams. The first desire for a lucid dream comes from the pleasure and excitement of being able to control one s dreams and achieve actions that are not possible. The most common of these dreams is the ability to fly, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Monsanto Pros And Cons Many people talk about GMOs without even knowing what they are. GMO stands for genetically modified organism, which does not sound like an appetizing name. (Whitman 1). The GMOs discussed in this essay will be the GMOs developed by Monsanto, Monsanto is most known for their genetically modified corn seeds; they make their seeds resistant to Roundup so that farmers can spray the entire crop with Roundup and not have any adverse effects on the finished product (Whitman 1). One may ask, why corn? This is a good question, corn is the biggest crop grown in America because it can easily break down into many different components that can make up so many other resources. In fact, corn is found in more than one half of the items found at the grocery store. Corn is easily broken down into high fructose corn syrup, and so many other things, corn has even made its way into diapers (Bawa and Anilakumar). The use of GMOs is widely considered safe, but there is a body of recent evidence that has proven otherwise. The use of GMOs in corn crops, although at first sight seem very beneficial to almost all aspects of corn farming, upon further inspection may have many unforeseen downfalls. One cannot have a conversation about GMOs without talking about Monsanto. Monsanto was founded in 1901 but has not become a big factor until fairly recently. As previously mentioned, Monsanto genetically modifies their seeds to resist the effects of Roundup, they do this to many seeds but mainly corn. The corn crops have been putting many small farmers out of business because of one smart adjustment that Monsanto has done to the corn s DNA. They made it so that the plants do not reproduce (Bawa and Anilakumar). This makes it so that farmers who use GMOs have to go out and buy new seeds every year, and this gets very expensive. On top of this, the farmers need to buy Roundup and other resources. Interestingly enough, the farmers lose money every year at harvest time (Bawa and Anilakumar). One may be prompted to ask, how do the farmers stay in business? The only way that the farmers make money is because corn is subsidized by the government, this is how the farmers make their money. The farmers who do not use GMOs end up most of the time going ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such a description consists of certain laws of nature, which summarize observed patterns, and theories (Peshkin 46). Science and religion are the main components of the ongoing national debate about the teaching of evolution in our public schools (Peshkin 46).Various religions reject or ignore the contributions of science, arguing that science displaces God, questions religious belief, and degrades morality (Molloy 547). If public school teachers want to inform students about creationism, they should do so in a religion class, not a science class. Intelligent design or Creationism, as typically viewed on by its American advocates, draws on a literal interpretation of the Judeo Christian tradition that the world is no more than 6,000 years old and that all species of life on the planet were created over a period of 6 days by a monotheistic deity (Overton 934). In contrast, evolutionary theory maintains that biological life originated by way of a natural selection process over billions of years (Morris 78).The concept of evolution, since its inception as a scientific theory through publication of Charles Darwin s Origin of Species in 1859, has faced religious opposition (Verma 206). Intelligent Design has been gaining acceptance in the United States. According to a series of polls, conducted during the last 25 years, about 50% Americans believe in the original form of Creationism (Lewontin, 2005). Former President Bush agreed to teaching evolution and intelligent design side by side in science classes (Dawkins Coyne, 2005). A school board in Dover, Pennsylvania voted against introduction of intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in biology classes (Goodstein, 2005). However, many researchers accept the fact that improvement in the teachers instructional beliefs and practices lead to academic improvement (Birman at el., 2000; Cuban, 2009; Garet et al, 2000; Glickman, 2002). • 11. Consumer Discrimination And Sexual Orientation Based... Earlier this year, the concepts of consumer discrimination and sexual orientation based discrimination have come to a forefront in American politics and should be dealt with through federal legislation (Payne, 2015). Two arguments which can be used to argue on the side of discrimination are the First Amendment used in tandem with corporate personhood and the First Amendment used on its own. I argue, however, that corporate personhood is not a legitimate argument nor is the First Amendment grounds for an individual to discriminate against another. Another defense of discrimination against consumers is the first section of the Thirteenth Amendment. The elimination and prevention of the entirety of such discrimination could be carried out through enacting a single two part law. Two defenses of discrimination include a combination of the First Amendment with each current precedent regarding corporations and of its own accord. Current precedent is the concept of corporate personhood wherein a corporation is treated as a person albeit with controversy regarding their treatment (Ripken, 2010). When this precedent is used in tandem with the provision that the free exercise of religion shall not be prohibited in the First Amendment, this makes a case that the government may not prohibit a corporation from exercising a religion (U.S. Const. amend. XIX). The other possible argument regarding the First Amendment is the individual s right to exercise their religion. Each of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, amid my visit to the zoo, I heard two zoo goers speak to each other about, Why is that Tazmanian Devil just sleeping and the other replied, speaking for the animal, I am just taking a Saturday afternoon nap . I have racked my brain for ages trying to find my place among my peers. With much thinking, I have narrowed this topic down to five sub topics that I think define me almost perfectly. Who am I? I am a person who is fixer by nature, shy, sensitive, misunderstood, and smart. I am a fixer by nature because I tend to take on other people s emotions and problems. I try to fixthese people and their problems. The last thing on your mind is how that transaction is taking place. You don t care what happens behind the scenes as long as your money is where it needs to be and is safe. As the banking and financeindustry has transformed, so has the process of how your money is handled. To accompany those changes, regulators and lawmakers create laws designed to protect consumers, banks, and the economy as a whole. As you will learn, the history of the banking industry has changed drastically over the last two thousand years and even more so in the last century with the advance of technology. It only makes sense that those lawmakers must continue to update and invent new regulation to further protect those interested parties. My goal is to demonstrate just how rapidly and radically the finance industry has changed and how new elements being introduced to finance and banking will adapt the industry and the regulation. In the world of finance and financial services, banking has been around longer than any other segment of that world. For more than two millenniums, bankers have served as money changers who aided people in exchanging foreign for local currencies. As this practice grew and many began to throw their funds into the banking system, the services that banks performed multiplied. Loans were granted and bankers collected interest. Most of ... The film will close with the plans of these organizations and students moving forward; what consequences they fear and what can be done by the average person to help those affected by this policy change. The spine of this story is the DACA students and their allies quest for help from the University of Michigan administration and their desparate rally against the potential deportation of hundreds of thousands of immigrants. The central tension lies here, between the administration, which has only voiced its support of DACA recipients but has done nothing, and the portion of the faculty and student body rallying to support their peers, loved ones, and thousands of others aided by DACA. This film also will employ the Performative Documentary Mode as it will address the audience emotionally and expressively, using interviews to attempt to draw the viewer into alignment with the film s subjective ideology, which is that DACA defendants are doing important work on campus with real concrete effects on fellow students and faculty, who are threatened by the repeal of DACA and that ending DACA is a dangerous political move for all ... The Literary Style Of Cavendish s The Blazing World In the epilogue of The Blazing World, Cavendish puts forth that anyone who does not wish to be a subject of her world can instead create their own (Cavendish 163), but how does one do this? In the story, the Empress asserts that in order to create a world one must frame it, strengthen it, and beautify it (126). The literary world that she creates in The Blazing World itself follows this system as her use of structured lists, her descriptions of the strength of her society and her use of poetic techniques in prose each support these ideas. This principal of world creation can be seen not only throughout The Blazing World, but through her poetryas well. In her poem Of Many Worlds in This World, Cavendish is able to convey these three rules of world building through both form and content while creating a whole system of worlds for the reader to imagine. The passage of The Blazing World that this essay will focus on is a passage in which the Duchess convinces the Empress to make a world in her mind which the Empress decides not to dissolve. The passage ends with the Empress desiring to see the Duchess s world and it s government and society. This passage not only creates a world within the text, a world filled with creatures, laws, arts and sciences (126), but adds to the greater world of the story that Cavendish creates. In this passage one can see a bit of how Cavendish creates her world through both the content of the passage and form. This passage exhibits the framing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The doping of semiconductor by rare earth metal nanoparticles is an effective way for increasing in photocatalytic activity. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can greatly enhance the cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various cell lines and paracetamol drug. These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and other techniques which clearly revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The UV vis spectroscopy displayed the absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after doping with La which is extremely favorable for absorbing the visible light. We compared the enhancing effect of La ions and found that La doped ZnO nanoparticles is more effective than ZnO nanoparticles in promoting the generation of hydroxyl radicals, holes and the photocatalytic activity of ... I understand that the bill needs to be read over and changed several times before it fits all of the needs and wants of the many politicians present in the House of Commons, but I do not see the need for three readings of the bill, which can end up becoming shouting matches between the opposing parties because of their beliefs. Besides that, the system of creating laws is also lopsided in favour to majority governments, as if they have more than half of the seats then they can near pass or vote out whatever laws fit their agenda. To cut down on the law making processes time, I would also cut the amount of readings from three readings, a committee stage and a report stage, down to two readings, the first where they debate the bill and study the bill clause by clause, and the second where the cast amendments and vote of the final bill. Lastly, by abolishing the Royal Assent stage, which is basically just a formality, the process of creating and changing laws would become even quicker. Both issues are of grave importance and are mutually exclusive as nations lacking strong human rights standards are more likely to require the greatest humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the need for humanitarian assistance will increase as global crises become more frequent, due to climate change insecurity (Adger, Huq, Brown, Conway Hulme, 2003). The example of climate change will be utilised throughout this paper to explore the disparaging links between climate justice and human rights. In defining humanitarian assistance this paper will take Jamieson s (2004) definition that humanitarian assistance is a response to crises via support in the short term to overcome disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Whereas, development assistance considers the longer term issues in developing countries. Societal Values In Jane Eyre The Victorian Era in England embraced strict societal values that dictated how women should submit to their parents when they are young, and to their husband when they are grown. While these notions may seem unnecessarily harsh from a modern standpoint, the phenomenon of finding comfort in these rigid standards existed during this time. For example, a woman who marries a wealthy man may be required to give up many of her own faculties and submit to her spouse s rules, but she may be at ease knowing that she is well taken care of in terms of basic necessities in addition to luxury items. The idea of finding immense support in rigid notions played a central role in the identity and culture of Victorian England. A brief literature review is given in this section of the paper. Logan (2000) used agency theory to help in bonding 3PL/customers relationships. • 42. Hamlet As A Turning Point Essay In Aristotle s Poetics, he discusses the elements that are involved in making a great tragedy, specifically. His methods have been followed by many a playwright, even if they do not decide this consciously. Shakespeare is somewhat of an outlier, generally defying much of the traditional rules set forth. Even so, Shakespeare s plays can still show signs of Aristotle s elements, and his methods can provide a deeper reading into plot, character, thought (theme), diction, song, and spectacle. By analyzing Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, using Aristotle s six elements and his definition of a turning point, one is able to uncover Hamlet s false madness and see that his true intentions are set on revenge. The six elements are described as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two are essential to each other because plot informs character, while character moves the plot along. In Hamlet, the main character and protagonist of Hamlet does just that. He has many obstacles to overcome, and his actions are what drive the plot forward. For example, because Hamlet made the decision to bring the players to put on a scene similar to the event of his father s murder, he is able to discern that Claudius is the killer because of his reaction to the play. After this occurrence, Hamlet is driven to enact revenge of Claudius, finally having proof. Hamlet provides the clear conflict which gives the play its arc. Without him, the play would cease to be. The third element is thought, or theme. This aspect is the central idea of the play. In Hamlet, one of the many themes is revenge. Revenge is what drives Hamlet to seek justice and to not stop until his father s murderer is dead. This theme is present throughout the course of the play and is not concluded until Hamlet kills Claudius in the final scenes, as well as also killing himself. Hamlet s faГ§ade is further shown through diction. Diction being the language of the play, Hamlet uses mainly verse. Verse was generally reserved for the upper class, and in his case, royalty. As Prince of Denmark, the other characters in the play expect him to speak and hold himself in a certain manner. But when there are moments where Hamlet seems mad or ... When you arrive in America matters seem to get worse. Without clothes, food, shelter, and no way to grow your community, you ask yourself this question, was it really worth leaving? The Norwegian immigrants that used to live in America may ask this question. In 1825, 52 Norwegians traveled to America to seek religious freedom. In Norway from 1807 1814 many Norwegians were captured by the British in the war. While they were there, many were introduced to Quakerism, and when they were released, they brought these religious practices back with them. • 49. Anagnoristics And Peripeteia In Oedipus The King Aristotle said the best plays have both an anagnorisis and a peripeteia which occur at nearly the same time. Anagnorisis which means discovery and peripeteia which means reversal of fortune have been a successful duo through the years. A simple way to state this is that within a story there is a startling discovery, which brings a change from ignorance to knowledge. These theatrical elements can make what appears to be a simple plot into an intriguing and attention grabbing story. The play we watched and discussed in class, OedipusRex, is a good example of a story that contains both anagnorisis and peripeteia. The story is a legend from around 430 B.C. written by Sophocles. King Oedipus is the main character who I would consider a tragic hero. He wants to find the cure for the plague that is taking over his kingdom called Thebes. Oedipus tries to find the answers from an Oracle who according to Webster s Dictionary is a person whom a deity is believed to speak through . The Oracle said that the plague is a curse because King Laius was murdered and in order for the plague to stop, the murderer must be found. King Oedipus then seeks out a blind seer who according to Webster s Dictionary is one that predicts events or developments. Summary Of Cimabue s Virgin And Child Enthroned Cimabue created Virgin and Child Enthroned in about 1280, while Giotto di Bondone, an Italian painter and architect, created his Virgin and Child Enthroned between 1305 and 1310 (Stokstad Cothren, 548, 550). The two paintings have various similarities. However, the most obvious similarities are that both focus on Mary and the Child Jesus, are long and pentagon shaped, and include figures of angels and prophets. In addition, both paintings have a sort of Byzantine influence (Cimabues painting more than Giotto s), including the golden backgrounds and the hierarchy of the figures ( The Ognissanti ). However, there are many noticeable differences between the paintings as well. In this discussion post, I will be focusing on three major differences: the portrayal of Mary; the positioning of Mary and Jesus; and the placement of the angels and prophets (including where the figures are looking). Before I begin discussing the specific differences between the two paintings, it is important to mention that the painting styles of Cimabue and Giotto differed significantly. Cimabue painted with a more Gothic and Byzantine style. His figures tended to be two dimensional and thus his paintings looked rather flat. He made his figures very elongated and stylised, which was common among Gothic and Byzantine artists at the time ( Biography of Giotto ).
