The Military Of The Army Essay
Mission Command Army officer who in charge of leading military missions must bear in mind that his
success or failure is dependent on his commanding style. There are typical ways through which an
officer is more successful than the other is. Just think about why a great Greek s military leader,
Thucydides, failed to save the city of Amphipolis. He was distant from the army to protect the
important military strategic city. Thucydides failure was his absence that made his army
psychologically impotent and the enemy courageous. () Command presence was vital in classical
periods because of the limitation of means of communication. Leaders usually led their army through
direct involvement in detailed tasks. Command presence, more than influencing the army through
close relationship with subordinate, has also a great impact on the enemy army. As a classical custom
required leaders to take part in leading the army, many great leaders was successful by taking direct
command of the army on the front battle. The coalition army in Napoleonic War purposefully avoid
fighting where Napoleon had a direct command on the army. It is so evident that Napoleon presence
had psychological influence on his own army and had taken as a center of gravity by the coalition
army of Europe. Alexander the Great defeat the vast area of Asia Minor with small number of the
army due to Alexander himself directly led the Army. Since command presence have a remarkable
importance of moral and psychological

The Pros And Cons Of AIDS Testing For Healthcare...
In 1993, The New York Times wrote an article about a dentist in Florida who infected six of his
patients. It had become an unsolved mystery as no one is sure how it happened. It is thought he might
have accidently cut himself or poked his finger with a needle and infected the patients that way. The
articles went on to discuss whether AIDS testing should be mandated for all healthcare professionals.
Some people viewed the dentist as being no better than a murder.
Before his death, the dentist wrote: I am a gentle man, and I would never intentionally expose anyone
to this disease. I have cared for people all my life, and to infect anyone with this disease would be
contrary to everything I have stood for.

Eowyn s Contribution To My Identity
This unit also ties in with Eowyn s heroic opposal to societal norms for females on Middle Earth.
Eowyn s character and identity is relegated by the community and how the race of Men expect women
to act. Although she understands that she is supposed to be demure and stay among other women, she
is still given some power by the community. During both the encounter with the wargs, wolves of
Isengard, and during the Battle of the Hornburg at Helm s Deep, Eowyn was given power to lead the
citizens, particularly women, of Rohan by two distinct men in power. She eventually goes into battle
to help Gondor as her desires to fight to help society are more important than staying with the women
and children to conform to society s beliefs. The essential question in this unit, how does my
community contribute to my identity speaks to stereotypes and expectations. Due to bad history

Each community or surrounding that the Fellowship encounters is defined by the cultures and
traditions of inhabitants of the land. During the travels in the first book, the Fellowship finds its way
to Lothlorien after losing Gandalf at the Bridge of Khazad dum. While leaving Lothlorien, Gimli asks
Lady Galadriel for a piece of hair from her golden head as his parting gift. She gives him three.
Knowing the significance of this request and gift in this community can alter the viewer s perception
of this scene completely. Feanor, the greatest elf who ever lived, asked Galadriel for a single piece
three times, but Galadriel had refused each time (refer to The Silmarillion). However, an elf hating
dwarf receives three. Even though Gimli does not understand the importance of this action, the rest of
the elvish community now recognizes Gimli as an Elf Friend and the purity of the dwarf s heart. Now,
Gimli is a friend who has garnered respect from one of the most powerful elves rather than a foe to the

My Favorite Quote Analysis
My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, Someone, I tell you, in another time
will remember us. She was right. She s remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized despite a
lot of her works not being found completely. It s one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a
nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her
desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in another time
someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort, and for me I want
my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an American born Punjabi
artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to
remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the
LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white washed. But the idea that I will do
enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as
a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am starting.
Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing
people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and growth
is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator,
was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of
my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of family issues. She
was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing as a teacher. She talked
about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes
persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were
engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my
interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar
Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can

Rhetorical Analysis Of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
Could the North and South ever come together again and unite as one nation after the Civil War? The
purpose of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address was to offer his promising predictions for
reconciliation with the South and his vision of the future. Lincoln utilizes strong and elevated diction
to clearly articulate his vision for the future, with choices like dreaded and sought . Furthermore,
Lincoln s optimistic tone offers a beacon of hope, with examples like, achieve and cherish a just and
lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations, and to bind up the nation s wounds . The purpose
of the address is achieved through parallelism and appeal to religion, too. Lincoln s diction, one of his
most powerful literary devices, is employed prominently throughout the entire passage.
Lincoln s elevated diction is used so he can communicate his thoughts openly and plainly. For
instance, he says all dreaded and sought to avoid the Civil War. This establishes the war as a terrible
evil but not the Confederacy. His word choice helps humanize the Confederacy, the Union s enemy.
The black population is addressed as colored slaves in order to appeal to the South and their deep
pride in slavery. Simultaneously, to appeal to the North who despised slavery, he says the black
population was part of the whole population . The purpose of Lincoln s diction here is to attempt to
bring the Union and the Confederacy together as it appeases to both side s beliefs. Also, Lincoln
chooses to say insurgents , which has a more neutral connotation behind it, instead of calling the
Confederacy the enemy or another derogatory term in order not to alienate the South. When the Civil
War ends, the two sides would have to reconcile, and they can t do that if Lincoln depicts the South as
the enemy.
Lincoln s optimistic tone attempts to persuade the audience into forgiving the South and making
peace. For instance, Lincoln says, to bind up the nation s wounds, , a bright and encouraging quote for
the country s future. By referring to the Union and Confederacy as a one entity, it depicts them as a
single united country. What Lincoln also suggests is that the Civil War is not fatal and that the

Learning Styles and Student Nurses
Learning can be defined as the process of acquiring knowledge or skills through experience,
independent or collaborative study, and teachings under guided instruction (Fisher Frey, 2008). One of
the most efficient processes of learning that promotes progressive knowledge and skill development is
a process that focusses on learning styles (Weaver, 2010). √ The key term learning style can be
described as the preferential mode a learner adopts when gain knowledge or skills (Honey, 2006).
There are a number of different versions of models and frameworks that can be used to help a student
nurse to identify their own personal learning needs (Sherwin Stevenson, 2011).√ These include Kolb s
(1984) Experiential Learning Cycle, Gibbs Reflective Cycle (Gibbs, 1988), and Johns and Carper s
model of structured reflection (Johns, 2009). √By using these tools a student nurse can identify their
learning needs and may consider it beneficial for the student to undertake further methods of analysis
such as Honey s (2006) The Learning Styles Questionnaire which is based on Honey and Mumford s
Learning Inventory (Honey, 1982). The Honey and Mumford inventory is a compilation of
descriptions used to categorise learners based upon behaviours and attitudes. These categories include
activist; reflector; theorist; and pragmatist (Honey, 2006). √ An understanding of learning

Abstract
In this paper, I take the reader through my search and the processes I went through as a visual learner
to decide on my choice of instruction, online or traditional. I identify my strengths and highlight how I
have used them in this course; uncover my weaknesses, and present strategies on what to adjust to
accommodate them. I also analyze the sources of my preconceived notions about online learning, why
they came about, how they affected me, how they relate to my learning style, what I have learned from
them, and how I plan to move forward using the information gleaned from the analysis. It is my plan
to use the discoveries I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Working with faceless people is the biggest adjustment I am making. I enjoy physical human
interaction and I do not have that luxury online. I find that the lack of immediate visual feedback often
puts me in a state of panic. The faceless set up will not change. Online education is here to stay (Drago
amp; Wagner, 2004, para. 5), but I can adjust my mindset. I must look for alternate ways to relate with
others; stop looking for visual cues, and remember that I am in an asynchronous learning environment.
The next best thing to physical interaction is communicating by telephone or, if possible, video
conferencing tools like Skype. In a world that practically operates daily on Instant (IM), text, and
Private (PM) Messages, it should be effortless to apply these to my academic life. Feedback will
come; I just need to be more patient. Living in a society that has and continues to condition us to
instant gratification, it pays to slow down for sanity s sake.
Another potential obstacle as a visual learner is difficulty with spoken directions and may be easily
distracted by sounds ( What s Your Learning Style? The Results , 2012). I proved this to be true. Video
tutorials distract more than teach me. It takes me longer to work through the material because I keep
pausing playback. I lose concentration from this repeated pausing, my sight and sound senses get over
stimulated, and I get overwhelmed. I cannot avoid the sound distractions; therefore, I must remember

How To Evaluate The Fredrick Case And Two Account Of...
Evaluation of the Fredrick case and two Accounts of Happiness
Introduction
The pursuit of happiness is an endeavor in which most individuals seem thoroughly invested.
Different philosophers gave their varied views on the concept of happiness, and the Fredrick case will
be illustrated with regard to what Aristotle and Epicurus opined about the aspect of a good or happy
life. As it turns out, there are conflicting interests about the Aristotelian rigid view of happiness, and
the more accommodative one by Epicurus. The former argued that happiness can only be attained
when one has achieved their true purpose that is more than what material things can facilitate. The
latter in turn argued that pleasures are permissive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

avoided the negatives of life and delighted in its pleasures instead. The kind of life suited him since he
was most satisfied when he was at work as opposed to when he was with his wife and children. Hence,
Epicurus would note that since the pleasures of life, even though unnecessary, brought him some level
of happiness, it was alright to pursue

Irma Grese: Why She Was So Evil Was Irma Grese as bad as the survivors from Auschwitz made her

chose to be cruel and sadistic toward the female prisoners. Irma Grese had been a savage in ways that
most people can t even imagine. The way that she treated the prisoners from the Concentration Camps

Blond Angel From Hell , and Hyena of Auschwitz . An anonymous inmate from the Bergen Belsen

as to how Grese acquired her nicknames. Some of those being that she would carry a whip and a pistol

Narrative For The Timken Company Valuation Of Acquisition...
Narrative for the Timken Company Valuation of Acquisition of Torrington
The first step in completing this case study was to determine what hypothesis needed to be tested. We
came up with the following six questions that needed to be answered in our research and calculations:
1. What synergies, if any, can the Timken Company expect through its acquisition of Torrington?
What are the risks?
2. What is the value of Torrington including the expected synergies of its acquisition by the Timken
Company?
3. Is this valuation higher than the value of Torrington by itself?
4. How should the Timken Company seek to structure this acquisition?
5. What will the impacts of this deal be on their investment grade status?
6. Should Timken seek to keep investment grade status, or forego this requirement in structuring the
deal?
Step One Evaluate the Potential Synergies and Risks of the Acquisition
At the time of this case study, 2002, Timken was involved in company wide restructuring. They were
consolidating current operational segments into global business units to reduce expenses. Their goal
was more penetration in global markets due to reduced growth in the US based on the bearing industry
s cyclical nature. Analysts predicted 2 3% industry growth in the US, but 6.5% global growth through
2005. The slow US growth was directly tied to the automotive industry s cyclical nature, which was
declining in 2002. Global penetration would help to achieve economies of scale, whilst hedging the

Annotate Makes You Annotate
Have you ever tried annotating? Annotating is the act of adding notes or comments to a text. I do like
it and think it s a good way to stay connected with the book but I happen to not use it that often. When
annotating, it sometimes takes me a little to think about what I want to write and that adds a lot of time
to reading. When you annotate it starts to take too long to write and think about what to write and I
really just don t enjoy doing that because I think it takes too long. My freshman year in English, I had
to read the book Great Expectations and we had to annotate everything and it already took a long time
to read that book so it took another 30min every day to just annotate and I really didn t like doing that

Susan Glaspell s Trifles And A Jury Of Her Peers
Unit 8 Essay Susan Glaspell s texts, Trifles and A Jury of Her Peers relay a singular story setting, but
are different in the styles in which they are told. While there are many similarities and differences
between the texts, the perspective and point of view play a big role in the telling of the overall story.
The different changes of point of view can change, Well, Mr. Hale, tell just what happened when you

King David Accomplishments
Introduction According to the New Living Translation (1996) King David lived halfway between the
lives of Abraham and Jesus, in addition to becoming one of the most important leaders for Israel and a
man after God s own heart ( 1 Samuel 13:14). David s place of birth was Bethlehem, City of David
Jerusalem where he grew up as a shepherd, but he is better known for his youthful triumph over
Goliath, as well as being a poet, musician, soldier, and a king (Holy Bible, NLT, 1996). King David
died at the age of seventy after ruling for forty years. King David wrestled with sin, such as adultery,
family disorder, and rebellion on a national level, however he also experienced great accomplishments
as well. One great achievement was the unification of Israel. Then all the tribes of Israel went to David
at Hebron and told him, We are all members of your family. For a long time, even while Saul was our
King, you were the one who really led Israel. And the Lord has told you, You will be the shepherd of
my people Israel. You will be their leader (2 Samuel 5:3). It is here that David makes a covenant with

How Resource Managers Encourage The Attitudinal Changes
How should resource managers encourage the attitudinal changes that are required to inspire
conservation of indigenous biodiversity on private land?
Attitudinal changes towards conservation within landowners is a major issue for indigenous
biodiversity. For example according to (Debby, 2012) the US fails to maintain eight hundred thousand
hectares of land yearly. Which compromises of forty four million hectares of wetlands placed on
private land. Conservation policies have tried to address this issue, though regardless of positive
results private landowners still decide not to tell organisations about species habitats found within
their area as they are scared that their land use opportunities will be limited (Debby, 2012). It is a key
role of resource managers to help inspire conservation through the use of conservation programmes
such as Networking approaches, communication and Easements. (fishburne, 2009) states that
Conservation easements are commitments amongst landowners and an organisation to enhance
conservation through the use of limiting development and certain land behaviour. Landowners will
gain tax income benefits as an incentive. This essay will highlight factors which motivate and
determine whether there is participation by landowners in conservation programmes and how resource
managers can capitalise on these determinants to enhance/encourage conservation of indigenous
biodiversity on private land. This paper will also examine current conservation programmes

Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephant By Ernest Hemingway
A symbol is anything that stands for, or represents, something else. Many everyday objects we see
symbolize or stand for something deeper; our wedding rings represent love and commitment, teams
like the Sharks or Giants are named after animals and mythical creatures that symbolize strength,
power, and stability. Similarly, in literature, symbols are used to give an object, character, or situation
a deeper and more significant meaning. In literature, symbols can be ambiguous and difficult to
understand because the same symbol can have different meanings; therefore, it is very important to
know when and where to use symbolism in a story. For example, the color red can mean love, anger or
danger depending on the context of the text.

This fact possibly symbolizes Jig s and the American s relationship. Throughout their conversation,
one can see that they rarely agree on anything and seem distant with each other. It is clear that Jig
wants more from her life and her relationship, but the American clearly wants to continue living
without the responsibility of a child. They are in a relationship, but their desires and expectations from
each other are not the same; they are like two train tracks that are running alongside but are not truly
together. They have come together at this point because it is at this junction that they will either
continue together or go their separate ways.
Hills Like White Elephants can be very confusing and difficult to understand because it is an indirect
conversation between two people about something important. Hemingway does not give any direct
details about the characters or the situation. However, if we read the story carefully and pay attention
to the symbols, the depth of the story will surprise us. That is the magic of symbolism; it takes
something simple and gives it layers that only entice and excite the

industry and the necessary steps to achieve these ambitions. In addition, I wanted to enhance my
skillset which include interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and complete the

Wealth-Power Related Economic and Socialist Theories
The different theories of political economy had attempted to explain international political economy
through formulating a clear relation between the interaction of wealth and power. Is political power
more significant on the international level for the stability of the state compared to economic
development? How does power and wealth shape the society, and as a result shape the international
sphere? The questions regarding the relationship between power and wealth are, in my opinion, the
most important questions, not only in the sphere of international political economy, but also in the
social sciences sphere as a large. It significance comes from it s essential role in determining the
structure of the society and the nature of every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historical Realism on the other hand takes into consideration the historical development at that
moment, the moment of development. Scholars of historical Realism still see the state as an agent that
attempts to farther its self interest; however, they also are interested in the historical factors, which
affect the state decision in pursuing its goals in relations to other states. Thus, we can see that the
realist prospective emphasizes the role of the state as the supreme power, ignoring the role of other
actors, such as international organizations and multinational corporations. By that logic, states seek to
gain power; wealth is a tool to gain that power, it is not an end by itself; and economic interest will
change with the change of the position of the state within the international sphere. One must ask then,
in a globalized world, where economic actors have significant power as much as political actors, can
we still consider the state as the most important player in the international sphere? Mercantilism, as I
see it, is the other side of the coin in relation to realism. Mercantilists emphasize the importance of
economic protectionism for the national industries, especially for manufactured goods, through high
tariffs. This theory, as in realism, point out the importance of maintaining national interest above all;
however, economic

Coping with Blindness
Coping With Blindness
Blindness: The state of lacking sight or not being able to see.
People in their everyday lives use their eye sight to help them function with everything they do. We
never usually stop and think about the consequences and changes we would have to make if we were
to one day lose our vision. Some people question about how we could lose our sight. There are many
different ways this might happen. It could be by accident, with something injuring the eye. It could
also be Cataracts, this could effect vision since the lens in the eye becomes foggy and eventually over
time vision could be totally impaired. Glaucoma could be another cause, this is when fluids in the eye
build up and cause too much pressure in the eye; damaging important nerves. There are many other
diseases and illnesses that could cause blindness. Once you go blind there is a very slim chance that
you will get your vision back. You will have to deal with the fact that your life will never be the same
and you will need to get the help to cope with your life changing loss. Over the years experts have
developed ways to make coping with blindness easier for people. Giving tips and providing devices to
help them complete tasks and activities in their life just a bit easier. Whether its transportation,
communicating or things we do in our everyday lives; specialists will keep finding ways to help the
visually impaired and the blind.
Obviously transportation is a key thing in our lives. Being

Stereotypes Of Anti-Semitism In The 19th Century
There is always an entity in the air, a presence that encroaches beneath the ground, or even an
engrossing feeling that is within the human psyche. This invisible social force that influences
everyday life is called prejudice, to which the excruciating backlash Jews have received for their
cultural identity and traditions even has a term for it: anti semitism. There are a large variety of anti
semitic myths that been associated by inaccurate stereotypes to which ignorance continues to breed. In
order to properly understand how to debunk these pigeonhole categories, three particular myths will
be explored to further comprehend how anti semitism was in the past and how it currently relates to
contemporary times. Jews known for contributing to well poisoning during the Black Death alongside
how this group has been linked to being known as Christ killers and ritual murders provide an ugly,
erroneous portrayal that harms the Jewish community and should be ended immediately.
The term anti semitism was invented in the 19th Century by people who loathed European Jews and ...

to them, nor are they forced to interact and converse with strangers on a regular basis. This can result
in poor social skills. Joe Fontane, a former home schooled student, had this to say when it comes to
the social aspect of home schooling. When I was 13, my parents switched me into high school after
being home schooled for my whole life. It was a hard time in my life, because I was not used to being
around so many kids, which led to a lot of anxiety. I have a lot of home schooled friends that never
made the switch, and they are just not socially fluent. Patrick Basham, in his book about the effects of
home schooling, claimed that home schooled children are able to socialize in small group activities.

One person should hold the cards. Both players should be in a split squat position. To start playing,
take a large step forward with the right leg, descending till the left leg almost touches the ground. At
tom of the split squat both the knees will form right angles. The knee should be above the toe but it
should not be in front.
In this situation, the player with the deck throws one card at a time towards their partner. The partner
must catch cards while they maintain their lung position, they can lean left, right, up, and down to
catch the card. The partner can try to catch 5 10 cards, then they can rest and they can switch the legs
and they can change thrower and catcher roles.
Fitness benefits of the game
Leaning aside from side to side and reaching up and down will increase the core stability to all the
movements. Trying to maintain the position will mean to balance and the player has to prepare for the

The Relationship Between Profanity And Honesty
Swearing has many meanings in the current world. The connotation of those swear words is different
based upon the person hearing it. Reading the article Frankly, we do give a damn: Study finds links
between swearing and honesty, has shown insight to this incredibly touchy subject. Profanity has been
used lots in pop culture in the past hundred years, from gone with the wind 80 years ago, to the most
recent presidency. Cursing also has a definitive tie to lying and deception. 8 10 sentence requirement
80 years ago, it was absolutely unforgivable to use profanity in a televised broadcast or film. The
impact that it has on us socially has changed quite a bit. The most surprising use was in 1939 when in
the movie Gone With The Wind, Clark Gable muttered the memorable line Frankly my dear, I don t
give a damn. That line alone cost the producers of the movie 5,000 dollars in fines. In the movies and
television shows of today, profane words are peppered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the article, The relationship between profanity and dishonesty is a tricky one. Swearing is
often inappropriate but it can also be evidence that someone is telling you their honest opinion. Just as

Sometimes, what you want to know is not always what you want to hear, which means, you want to
know the complete truth but you don t really want to hear it the way they said it. When asked to list
their favorite swear words, 276 participants answered and then took a lie detector test to determine if
they were answering in a socially acceptable way or if they were being truthful. It was found that the

Import And Local Production Of Cement Importation
Source: CMAN In spite of the local production, cement importation has been high over the years
because of the out dated manufacturing technology, high interest rates and exchange rate fluctuations.
These factors have contributed to the manufacturing overhead both in terms of the high cost of raw
materials and other inputs in the manufacturing and distribution process. Also, the easy access and low
cost of acquiring an import license in comparison with difficulty in import license acquisition for
manufacturing equipment spare parts also discouraged local manufacturing (Mojekwu, Idowu, Sode,
2013). See table below for the import and local manufacturing trend over time Table 3: Cement

Alpha is a fully integrated cement manufacturing company with Headquarters in Nigeria and
subsidiaries in 16 African countries and Nepal where production is proposed to start in 2018. The
company s business operations span all business sectors and the most expansive of it is cement
manufacturing which is the focus of this study. The firm was established as a one man trading business
in 1981 specialising in commodity trading with a focus on varieties of products ranging from
consumable commodities such as rice, flour, sugar, fish and later cement. The internationalisation
process of Alpha could be grouped into three distinct stages, the early and formative years 1981 1999,
the rapid domestic expansion Years 2000 2012 and the internationalisation period from 2012 present.
The years between 1981 and 1999 are regarded as the formative years of the business because it was
the period in which the firm evolved and expanded as a large trading firm. It was also the period in
which the firm diversified and ventured into bulk cement importation, a division that was incorporated
in 1992. The entrepreneurial ability of the owner transformed Alpha to become the

Hong Kong Will Be Introduced As Asia s World City
Abstract: For this journal, Hong Kong will be introduced as Asia s world city. Lecture notes and
readings from class will be provided to back this characterization and fundamentally shape an
analysis, particularly one aimed to make on the recent political and cultural events in Hong Kong.
Evidently the circulating effects of globalization and economic policy have rendered islands of Hong
Kong into major tourist attractions. For instance, Cause Bay and Wan Chai are two colorful districts
that offer thrilling nightclubs and stupendous ethnic restaurants. Other locations nearby like Yau Ma
Tei and Mong Kok draw people to its many exhibits of Chinese culture and specialty shops.
Unfortunately, I have not yet experienced these places but I am convinced after gaining some
experience walking in New York s Chinatown, why Hong Kong no longer lives up to it s meaning:
Fragrant Harbor. Also, it was coincidental finding unappetizing comments left by Tourists on travel
websites. They all dismissed the city s reputation of possessing perfumed sights and sounds with the
scents of opium spices and incense to be historical or mythological. Instead, these tourists who clearly
were disappointed enough to share their experiences online, reported smelling overbearing stenches of
dead fish and rotten cabbage, similarly to what I encountered in Chinatown, New York. Despite some
scents of the city were not as pleasant as what travel agents boasted to their clients, the historical facts

Pros And Cons Of Plastic Surgery Essay
Plastic surgery is a medical specialty concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function
of a body part. There are a lot of arguments concerning plastic surgery. Some people even argued that
it should be banned. However, the fact that plastic surgery is still legally practiced globally points out
that the advantages significantly outweigh the disadvantages. Plastic surgery should not be banned due
to the following reasons. Firstly, plastic surgery is needed for medical purposes. Secondly, every
human has the rights to choose what they want to do, as long as it is not against the law. Thirdly,
plastic surgery often leads to success. There is often a misconception that plastic surgeries are only

Now here comes the question: where is the line drawn between the methods above to change our
physical appearances? Why is it okay for us to get change our physical appearances by getting tattoos
and dyeing our hair but it is against the law of nature to undergo plastic surgery? Just because dyeing
your hair costs less and plastic surgery involves a plastic surgeon doesn t mean that plastic surgery is
unethical and inhumane. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with people who choose to undergo plastic
surgery to change their physical appearances. Plastic surgery often leads to one s success. [3]A good
example would be the South Korean booming k pop celebrities who are known for their flawless faces
and bodies. The recent success they achieved was due to plastic surgeries they undertook to change
into a completely different person with increased self confidence and self esteem in performing. In the
world we live today, success is often determined by our looks. If that is the case and plastic surgery is
a shortcut to success, who wouldn t take the opportunity? [4]The highly publicized death due to
complications in plastic surgery of mother of hip hop star Kanye West, Donda West, have made people
to think twice before undergoing any plastic surgery. This was a shock therapy to the world,
underlining that plastic surgeries may cause deaths. Some people say that having a plastic surgery is
not worth the risk and will certainly

The Runaway Twin
The Runaway Twin by Peg Kehret is a fascinating book. The way the author describes the challenges
Sunny went through are just outstanding. I think the theme of this book is to never give up no matter
how difficult the challenges that are thrown at you are because in the end it will be worth it. I believe
this because when Sunny was caught in the middle of a tornado she stuck her ground and tried her best
to survive which she succeeded. Another example is, when Randy was caught under a few wooden
boards and a a cast iron sink she tried her best to set him free, giving herself blisters in the process.
She decided to run and try to find help for him she didn t just give up on him. Sunny Skyland is only 3

Essay on Boyles Law Apparatus
Abstract The objective of this lab was to determine the relationship (if any), between the pressure and
volume of a gas given the temperature and # of molecules remained constant. Using the Boyle s law

between pressure and volume. However, the relationship was not a direct relationship, and it was
determined that the pressure and volume of a gas are inversely proportioned. Thus, proving Boyle s

Facebook is a wonderful tool for anybody and everybody, who has access to the internet. And that
includes immature teens, the approach these websites as video games. John Suler. And then they are

I can see why Teenagers are drawn into facebook, the learn to interact with tens of millions of people
from around the world. And you can add yourself to groups you like or think you like or are interested
in. Then when you do that you meet other people with the same similarities. After that the group chats

school all the way to having them across bodies of water like the Pacific or the Atlantic. They can
begin discussing homework or how bad their teachers are. The downside of this drama happens very

Essay about The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A...
The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House What does it mean to be a hero? According
to Webster, a hero is someone of great strength [and] courage who is admired for his or her courage
and nobility. 1 Stretching this definition a bit further, I would argue that a hero is someone who uses
this strength, courage, and nobility to help or save others. Nora Helmer, in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s
House, leaves her husband and family at the end of the play a move that can be viewed as either very
selfish or very heroic. Because Nora uses her strength and courage in effort to save others and herself
from the false doll s house life they are living in, her final act of leaving home is truly heroic. Nora

This can be seen when she calls her youngest child her sweet little baby doll, and later when she
reassures her children that the doggies wouldn t bite [her] pretty little dollies (22).2 Nora seems to be
overlooking the fact that these little, doll like figures are real people that she is responsible for. In this
same scene, Nora plays hide and seek, laughing and shrieking, with her kids (23). As the argument
that Nora is being selfish states, she is her children s playmate. Yet, shouldn t a mother be more than
just a fellow playmate? A mother has a responsibility to teach and train her children, not just play with
them. This scene is the only time we see direct interaction between Nora and her kids; it suggests that
being a playmate or else using them as her play toys, are two of the only ways Nora knows how to be
a mother. Nora herself admits to Torvald, in their final confrontation, that the children have been my
dolls who thought it was fun when I went and played with them (81). Later in the play, after this first
scene with her children, when Nora is talking to Anne Marie, we can see that she is making efforts to
ensure that her children will be cared for if even if she is not there to raise them. Anne Marie is the
only mother Nora has ever had and, as Nora says, she was a good mother to [Nora] when [she] was
little (36). Nora goes on to say, And if my little ones only had

The Role Of The Nephilins In The Bible
The Bible reports the emergence of The Giants as the result of the sexual relationship between women
(daughters of men) and guardian angels (children of God) and from this relationship there would have
been hybrid beings of high stature and perversity never seen on the Face of the earth. These are the
Nephilins, the giants of biblical accounts.
How did they really come about? Who were the children of God? The search for these answers has
always led theologians of various epochs to try to understand this fact and supposed relationship
between angelic beings endowed with purely carnal desires and taken by voluptuousness, and women
descended from a genealogy that abandoned the fear of God, as is the account found In the book of
Jubilees, to give ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The giants are the result of a union between two species, beings that have been genetically altered due
to the compatibility between human women and the Nephilins. In the Bible we can identify some of
the descendants of the Nephilins on earth because they were former rulers, as the book of Numbers
13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our
own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight .
The Book of I Enoch
In the book of I Enoch, as well as in the book of the Jubilees, testament of Rubem and Baruch, are
described several events that led God to determine the end of humanity, for those had been so
rebellious against the sovereignty of God that the end had come for them.
In this account of I Enoch, angelic beings, the Guardian angels, here nominated as Watchers, who had
Semjaza as leader, were attracted by the beauty of the daughters of men and waking up among
themselves, they went down to the land to possess these women.
When the children of men multiplied, in those days, beautiful and graceful daughters were born to
them. And the watchers, the children of heaven, when they saw them, desired

  • 2. The Military Of The Army Essay Mission Command Army officer who in charge of leading military missions must bear in mind that his success or failure is dependent on his commanding style. There are typical ways through which an officer is more successful than the other is. Just think about why a great Greek s military leader, Thucydides, failed to save the city of Amphipolis. He was distant from the army to protect the important military strategic city. Thucydides failure was his absence that made his army psychologically impotent and the enemy courageous. () Command presence was vital in classical periods because of the limitation of means of communication. Leaders usually led their army through direct involvement in detailed tasks. Command presence, more than influencing the army through close relationship with subordinate, has also a great impact on the enemy army. As a classical custom required leaders to take part in leading the army, many great leaders was successful by taking direct command of the army on the front battle. The coalition army in Napoleonic War purposefully avoid fighting where Napoleon had a direct command on the army. It is so evident that Napoleon presence had psychological influence on his own army and had taken as a center of gravity by the coalition army of Europe. Alexander the Great defeat the vast area of Asia Minor with small number of the army due to Alexander himself directly led the Army. Since command presence have a remarkable importance of moral and psychological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Pros And Cons Of AIDS Testing For Healthcare... In 1993, The New York Times wrote an article about a dentist in Florida who infected six of his patients. It had become an unsolved mystery as no one is sure how it happened. It is thought he might have accidently cut himself or poked his finger with a needle and infected the patients that way. The articles went on to discuss whether AIDS testing should be mandated for all healthcare professionals. Some people viewed the dentist as being no better than a murder. Before his death, the dentist wrote: I am a gentle man, and I would never intentionally expose anyone to this disease. I have cared for people all my life, and to infect anyone with this disease would be contrary to everything I have stood for. Many of the examples in Bennett s book ... • 4. Eowyn s Contribution To My Identity This unit also ties in with Eowyn s heroic opposal to societal norms for females on Middle Earth. Eowyn s character and identity is relegated by the community and how the race of Men expect women to act. Although she understands that she is supposed to be demure and stay among other women, she is still given some power by the community. During both the encounter with the wargs, wolves of Isengard, and during the Battle of the Hornburg at Helm s Deep, Eowyn was given power to lead the citizens, particularly women, of Rohan by two distinct men in power. She eventually goes into battle to help Gondor as her desires to fight to help society are more important than staying with the women and children to conform to society s beliefs. The essential question in this unit, how does my community contribute to my identity speaks to stereotypes and expectations. Due to bad history between elves and dwarfs (refer to ... During the travels in the first book, the Fellowship finds its way to Lothlorien after losing Gandalf at the Bridge of Khazad dum. While leaving Lothlorien, Gimli asks Lady Galadriel for a piece of hair from her golden head as his parting gift. She gives him three. Knowing the significance of this request and gift in this community can alter the viewer s perception of this scene completely. Feanor, the greatest elf who ever lived, asked Galadriel for a single piece three times, but Galadriel had refused each time (refer to The Silmarillion). However, an elf hating dwarf receives three. Even though Gimli does not understand the importance of this action, the rest of the elvish community now recognizes Gimli as an Elf Friend and the purity of the dwarf s heart. • 5. My Favorite Quote Analysis My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, Someone, I tell you, in another time will remember us. She was right. She s remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized despite a lot of her works not being found completely. It s one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in another time someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort, and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white washed. But the idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am starting. Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Rhetorical Analysis Of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Could the North and South ever come together again and unite as one nation after the Civil War? The purpose of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address was to offer his promising predictions for reconciliation with the South and his vision of the future. Lincoln utilizes strong and elevated diction to clearly articulate his vision for the future, with choices like dreaded and sought . Furthermore, Lincoln s optimistic tone offers a beacon of hope, with examples like, achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations, and to bind up the nation s wounds . The purpose of the address is achieved through parallelism and appeal to religion, too. Lincoln s diction, one of his most powerful literary devices, is employed prominently throughout the entire passage. Lincoln s elevated diction is used so he can communicate his thoughts openly and plainly. For instance, he says all dreaded and sought to avoid the Civil War. This establishes the war as a terrible evil but not the Confederacy. His word choice helps humanize the Confederacy, the Union s enemy. The black population is addressed as colored slaves in order to appeal to the South and their deep pride in slavery. Simultaneously, to appeal to the North who despised slavery, he says the black population was part of the whole population . The purpose of Lincoln s diction here is to attempt to bring the Union and the Confederacy together as it appeases to both side s beliefs. Also, Lincoln chooses to say insurgents , which has a more neutral connotation behind it, instead of calling the Confederacy the enemy or another derogatory term in order not to alienate the South. When the Civil War ends, the two sides would have to reconcile, and they can t do that if Lincoln depicts the South as the enemy. Lincoln s optimistic tone attempts to persuade the audience into forgiving the South and making peace. For instance, Lincoln says, to bind up the nation s wounds, , a bright and encouraging quote for the country s future. By referring to the Union and Confederacy as a one entity, it depicts them as a single united country. What Lincoln also suggests is that the Civil War is not fatal and that the ... • 7. Learning Styles and Student Nurses Learning can be defined as the process of acquiring knowledge or skills through experience, independent or collaborative study, and teachings under guided instruction (Fisher Frey, 2008). One of the most efficient processes of learning that promotes progressive knowledge and skill development is a process that focusses on learning styles (Weaver, 2010). √ The key term learning style can be described as the preferential mode a learner adopts when gain knowledge or skills (Honey, 2006). There are a number of different versions of models and frameworks that can be used to help a student nurse to identify their own personal learning needs (Sherwin Stevenson, 2011).√ These include Kolb s (1984) Experiential Learning Cycle, Gibbs Reflective Cycle (Gibbs, 1988), and Johns and Carper s model of structured reflection (Johns, 2009). √By using these tools a student nurse can identify their learning needs and may consider it beneficial for the student to undertake further methods of analysis such as Honey s (2006) The Learning Styles Questionnaire which is based on Honey and Mumford s Learning Inventory (Honey, 1982). The Honey and Mumford inventory is a compilation of descriptions used to categorise learners based upon behaviours and attitudes. These categories include activist; reflector; theorist; and pragmatist (Honey, 2006). √ An understanding of learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Visual Learner Self-Assessment Self Assessment and Reflection of a Visual Learner Marcia Weaver COM/516 May 6, 2012 Denise Corso Abstract In this paper, I take the reader through my search and the processes I went through as a visual learner to decide on my choice of instruction, online or traditional. I identify my strengths and highlight how I have used them in this course; uncover my weaknesses, and present strategies on what to adjust to accommodate them. I also analyze the sources of my preconceived notions about online learning, why they came about, how they affected me, how they relate to my learning style, what I have learned from them, and how I plan to move forward using the information gleaned from the analysis. It is my plan to use the discoveries I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Working with faceless people is the biggest adjustment I am making. I enjoy physical human interaction and I do not have that luxury online. I find that the lack of immediate visual feedback often puts me in a state of panic. The faceless set up will not change. Online education is here to stay (Drago amp; Wagner, 2004, para. 5), but I can adjust my mindset. I must look for alternate ways to relate with others; stop looking for visual cues, and remember that I am in an asynchronous learning environment. The next best thing to physical interaction is communicating by telephone or, if possible, video conferencing tools like Skype. In a world that practically operates daily on Instant (IM), text, and Private (PM) Messages, it should be effortless to apply these to my academic life. Feedback will come; I just need to be more patient. Living in a society that has and continues to condition us to instant gratification, it pays to slow down for sanity s sake. Another potential obstacle as a visual learner is difficulty with spoken directions and may be easily distracted by sounds ( What s Your Learning Style? The Results , 2012). I proved this to be true. Video tutorials distract more than teach me. It takes me longer to work through the material because I keep pausing playback. I lose concentration from this repeated pausing, my sight and sound senses get over stimulated, and I get overwhelmed. I cannot avoid the sound distractions; therefore, I must remember to ... • 9. How To Evaluate The Fredrick Case And Two Account Of... Evaluation of the Fredrick case and two Accounts of Happiness Introduction The pursuit of happiness is an endeavor in which most individuals seem thoroughly invested. Different philosophers gave their varied views on the concept of happiness, and the Fredrick case will be illustrated with regard to what Aristotle and Epicurus opined about the aspect of a good or happy life. As it turns out, there are conflicting interests about the Aristotelian rigid view of happiness, and the more accommodative one by Epicurus. The former argued that happiness can only be attained when one has achieved their true purpose that is more than what material things can facilitate. The latter in turn argued that pleasures are permissive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Narrative for the Timken Company Valuation of Acquisition of Torrington The first step in completing this case study was to determine what hypothesis needed to be tested. We came up with the following six questions that needed to be answered in our research and calculations: 1. What synergies, if any, can the Timken Company expect through its acquisition of Torrington? What are the risks? 2. What is the value of Torrington including the expected synergies of its acquisition by the Timken Company? 3. Is this valuation higher than the value of Torrington by itself? 4. I do like it and think it s a good way to stay connected with the book but I happen to not use it that often. When annotating, it sometimes takes me a little to think about what I want to write and that adds a lot of time to reading. King David Accomplishments Introduction According to the New Living Translation (1996) King David lived halfway between the lives of Abraham and Jesus, in addition to becoming one of the most important leaders for Israel and a man after God s own heart ( 1 Samuel 13:14). David s place of birth was Bethlehem, City of David Jerusalem where he grew up as a shepherd, but he is better known for his youthful triumph over Goliath, as well as being a poet, musician, soldier, and a king (Holy Bible, NLT, 1996). King David died at the age of seventy after ruling for forty years. King David wrestled with sin, such as adultery, family disorder, and rebellion on a national level, however he also experienced great accomplishments as well. One great achievement was the unification of Israel. Then all the tribes of Israel went to David at Hebron and told him, We are all members of your family. For a long time, even while Saul was our King, you were the one who really led Israel. And the Lord has told you, You will be the shepherd of my people Israel. How Resource Managers Encourage The Attitudinal Changes How should resource managers encourage the attitudinal changes that are required to inspire conservation of indigenous biodiversity on private land? Attitudinal changes towards conservation within landowners is a major issue for indigenous biodiversity. For example according to (Debby, 2012) the US fails to maintain eight hundred thousand hectares of land yearly. Which compromises of forty four million hectares of wetlands placed on private land. Conservation policies have tried to address this issue, though regardless of positive results private landowners still decide not to tell organisations about species habitats found within their area as they are scared that their land use opportunities will be limited (Debby, 2012). It is a key role of resource managers to help inspire conservation through the use of conservation programmes such as Networking approaches, communication and Easements. (fishburne, 2009) states that Conservation easements are commitments amongst landowners and an organisation to enhance conservation through the use of limiting development and certain land behaviour. Landowners will gain tax income benefits as an incentive. This essay will highlight factors which motivate and determine whether there is participation by landowners in conservation programmes and how resource managers can capitalise on these determinants to enhance/encourage conservation of indigenous biodiversity on private land. Many everyday objects we see symbolize or stand for something deeper; our wedding rings represent love and commitment, teams like the Sharks or Giants are named after animals and mythical creatures that symbolize strength, power, and stability. Similarly, in literature, symbols are used to give an object, character, or situation a deeper and more significant meaning. In literature, symbols can be ambiguous and difficult to understand because the same symbol can have different meanings; therefore, it is very important to know when and where to use symbolism in a story. Scholars of historical Realism still see the state as an agent that attempts to farther its self interest; however, they also are interested in the historical factors, which affect the state decision in pursuing its goals in relations to other states. Thus, we can see that the realist prospective emphasizes the role of the state as the supreme power, ignoring the role of other actors, such as international organizations and multinational corporations. By that logic, states seek to gain power; wealth is a tool to gain that power, it is not an end by itself; and economic interest will change with the change of the position of the state within the international sphere. • 32. Essay about The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A... The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House What does it mean to be a hero? According to Webster, a hero is someone of great strength [and] courage who is admired for his or her courage and nobility. 1 Stretching this definition a bit further, I would argue that a hero is someone who uses this strength, courage, and nobility to help or save others. Nora Helmer, in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House, leaves her husband and family at the end of the play a move that can be viewed as either very selfish or very heroic. Because Nora uses her strength and courage in effort to save others and herself from the false doll s house life they are living in, her final act of leaving home is truly heroic. Nora saves ... This can be seen when she calls her youngest child her sweet little baby doll, and later when she reassures her children that the doggies wouldn t bite [her] pretty little dollies (22).2 Nora seems to be overlooking the fact that these little, doll like figures are real people that she is responsible for. In this same scene, Nora plays hide and seek, laughing and shrieking, with her kids (23). As the argument that Nora is being selfish states, she is her children s playmate. Yet, shouldn t a mother be more than just a fellow playmate? A mother has a responsibility to teach and train her children, not just play with them. This scene is the only time we see direct interaction between Nora and her kids; it suggests that being a playmate or else using them as her play toys, are two of the only ways Nora knows how to be a mother. Nora herself admits to Torvald, in their final confrontation, that the children have been my dolls who thought it was fun when I went and played with them (81). Later in the play, after this first scene with her children, when Nora is talking to Anne Marie, we can see that she is making efforts to ensure that her children will be cared for if even if she is not there to raise them. Anne Marie is the only mother Nora has ever had and, as Nora says, she was a good mother to [Nora] when [she] was little (36). Nora goes on to say, And if my little ones only had ... • 33. The Role Of The Nephilins In The Bible The Bible reports the emergence of The Giants as the result of the sexual relationship between women (daughters of men) and guardian angels (children of God) and from this relationship there would have been hybrid beings of high stature and perversity never seen on the Face of the earth. These are the Nephilins, the giants of biblical accounts. How did they really come about? Who were the children of God? The search for these answers has always led theologians of various epochs to try to understand this fact and supposed relationship between angelic beings endowed with purely carnal desires and taken by voluptuousness, and women descended from a genealogy that abandoned the fear of God, as is the account found In the book of Jubilees, to give ... The giants are the result of a union between two species, beings that have been genetically altered due to the compatibility between human women and the Nephilins. In the Bible we can identify some of the descendants of the Nephilins on earth because they were former rulers, as the book of Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight . The Book of I Enoch In the book of I Enoch, as well as in the book of the Jubilees, testament of Rubem and Baruch, are described several events that led God to determine the end of humanity, for those had been so rebellious against the sovereignty of God that the end had come for them. In this account of I Enoch, angelic beings, the Guardian angels, here nominated as Watchers, who had Semjaza as leader, were attracted by the beauty of the daughters of men and waking up among themselves, they went down to the land to possess these women. When the children of men multiplied, in those days, beautiful and graceful daughters were born to them. And the watchers, the children of heaven, when they saw them, desired ...
