The Outsiders By Francis Ford Coppola
The Outsiders a film directed by Francis Ford Coppola s in the 1980s is about two social groups
of teenagers who happens to live in the same town and attends the same high school. Although
both two social groups live in the same vicinity, they live a completely different life. A group
identified as the South Side Socials (aka socs ), are the upper class teenagers, while the Greasers,
are the less fortunate kids, who just so happen to live on the wrong side of town. These two
social groups have had a conflict against one another for several years, but on one specific
evening, this rivalry turns deadly as one of the greasers, Johnny, stabs and murders a socs. Due
to the passing of one of the Socs, the Socs tried to avenge the death of their friend, while the
greasers tried to get the town to comprehend that the Socs were also at fault during that conflict.
The Outsider is an exceptional film depicting how social groups can explain our behavior, and
how deviance and crime are observed in relation to our social group. A social group is defined as
a group of two or more people who interact frequently with one another, shares a portion sense of
belonging and have a sensation of interdependence. As seen in the film, both the Socs and the
greasers care deeply for each associate of the corresponding group. Towards the end of the film, as
Johnny is being hospitalized for severe burns, Pony Boy expresses himself by stating the fact that
things would be different if he pass away.

Jfk Inaugural Speech
Essay:
Language plays a crucial role in the development of power. Presidents in the United States use
rhetorical devices to emphasize a specific point and to make it clear to the audience. President
Thomas Jefferson is a democratic republican and he won the election of 1800; there he presented
his inauguration speech, this speech had significance because it was first time in the history when
the power shifted from one party to the other. Martin Luther King, Jr. served as an American
minister and played an active role in the civil rights movement. To further increase his liability in
the civil rights movement, he presented I have a dream speech that improved his position in the
movement by mentioning equality rights that all men deserve. John F. Kennedy delivered his speech
during his inauguration tried to develop relations with Soviet Union and end Cold War. All the
speeches delivered by most known personalities used rhetorical devices such as allusion and
repetition to make their message memorable in the hearts of the citizens of America. The most
known personalities used allusion to lend authority to an idea and make association with a term that
the reader is familiar with. John F. Kennedy alludes to Isaiah to make his claim stronger and
introduce a familiar concept to the audience (John F. Kennedy). Isaiah is a familiar concept to the
Jews as they worship him as God. The author alludes to Isaiah in his speech to support and convey
his claim that all the states should unite. Alluding to Isaiah allows the reader to connect with a
familiar concept. He further improves his claim by showing that it is the command of the Isaiah to
possess no hatred and stay in Unity. John F. Kennedy is referring to the Soviet Union and
Communists that they must stop fighting and avoid the Cold War that was taking place during his
presidency. Martin Luther King, Jr. alludes to the Constitution to support his claim about the
equality to African Americans. Constitution is the document used by the government officials to
govern the country. By alluding to Constitution , the rhetor is providing evidence to his argument
that African Americans should receive privileges that Americans receive. It also helps the reader

The Edges Of Empathy By Anthony Burgess
Bryce Brown
Mrs. Gawith
English Comp IV
2 October 2017
The Edges of Empathy The human mind can be a delicate thing capable of extraordinary kindness,
but it also has a skill for a high level of destruction and apathy. Within the dystopian novel, A
Clockwork Orange, written by Anthony Burgess, the atrocities of an extremely violent subculture
run by the futures youth is revealed. The novel is a satirical probe into the conscious of the
troubled youth molded by a corrupt society, exploring the inability to be empathetic forming from
corruption and the results of removing a person s free will. The story follows Alex through a
demented world full of violence, with a warped state government revealing its unethical methods in
reforming society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon examination of Alex s physiological state of mind, one could say he is missing a key
piece that contributes to humanity. Alex has no ability to show genuine emotion for what he
has done, nor pity for his victims. He is ruled by adrenaline and contempt for all those around
him, feeding off of the fear and weaknesses others exhibit. In fact, while in prison, Alex pursues
the Bible not for sanctuary of faith, but as an insight into more violence and sex, gaining a type
of ally in the Prison Chaplain, who misunderstands his intentions with the Bible. As the
proposition of a shorter sentence is given, the Chaplain questions the morality of the techniques
going to be used. Does God want goodness or the choice of goodness? Is a man who chooses to
be bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him? (Burgess
166). The Chaplain is imploring him to just take his sentence instead of sacrificing his free will to
get out of prison sooner. He is foreshadowing that this could be a hellish result. Alex elects to have
his free will stolen from him through the Ludovico Technique, an aversion theory that causes him
to associate any kind of violent thought with sickness. After he is reformed into a non violent
citizen, he is released back into society with the inability to stomach the sights and sounds of his
world, struggling to make any decision for himself. He questions life, and

Hip-Hop Playas
Glocalizing Keepin it Real: South Korean Hip Hop Playas by Jamie Shinhee Lee discussed the
globalization of hip hop and what is considered as real hip hop in South Korea. Lee explained
about how hip hop had spread throughout many countries in the world, and its impact can be seen
particularly in his example of S. Korean hip hop. Four hip hop groups: Epik High, Dynamic Duo,
Drunken Tiger, and Soul Company are used in support of his argument of glocalization in South
Korea. Playa like Tiger JK was raised in Los Angeles, and thus experienced localized hip hip in
America, but also in S. Korea. Tiger JK found raps about Korean stereotypes untrue and often
misunderstood; therefore, he began writing lyrics to promote peace and harmony in hip hop.... Show

Instead, hip hop should be deemed fake or real intentionally based if it s as a product for market
or playas personal expression. According to Lee s study, there was a common theme found in
playas lyrics and suggested that, South Korean hip hop playas practice of keepin it real
demonstrates global local syncretism. S. Korea are not using their own ideas and concepts, but
global elements and characteristics are also incorporated too. This incorporation was evident
from S. Korea playas use of English, hip hop clothing, costumes, and similar concepts. It s
already not pure because these characteristics are not original, but the differences are it intention.
Critics may argued that hip hop is dead or is no longer real because of globalization and
diffusion. These playas are still rapping about their country s problems and personal issues, but
how do people know if it s real or fake. Since globalization is a major component of blending hip
hop globally, music corporation are largely affected the quality and authentic of contemporary hip
hop. Playas are in this business to make a living, and often don t have control of their choices from
these corporation. Lee talked about the Korean Wave, and its influence to international audiences.
At large, the Korean Wave is carried by Korean pop music, but Korean hip hop

Cultural Conflict between Hmong s and American Culture
This entry book spirit catches you and you fall down is talking about the cultural conflict between
the Hmong s culture and American culture. These differences are brought by the strong beliefs in
the Hmong s culture, and the difficulties to accept a new culture. There is a lot of
misunderstanding/conflicts between these two cultures in the book. Usually, when the doctors
are trying to convince the Lee s family about Lia s treatments, the Lees are stuck in their ways
and really hard to accept what the doctors have to say about their beloved daughter. They believe
in their own ways, even if it is helpful or not. They refuse to accept the doctors ideas, and because
the treatments that the doctors give are based on the scientific experiences, so the doctors believe
that the Hmong s ideas are unreasonable or even stupid .However, when the cultureconflicts face the
love, these cultural differences become meaningless, which lead me to think that love is the only
way that bring these cultures to connect.
The Hmong cultural/religious belief in shamanistic animism claim that wicked spirits are
continually searching human souls, mostly those of defenseless or unappreciated children. For
Hmong culture, epilepsy is known as qaug dab peg which means, the spirit catches you and you
fall down in English (Fadiman 1997), which epileptic invasions are seen as affirmation of the
epileptic s capability to enter and stay temporarily into the spirit world (unconsciousness). In Hmong

Compare And Contrast The Goblin Of Eromas And The Crucible
The best way to avoid becoming a scapegoat is to find one. Warren Eyster writer of The Goblin
of Eros. Everyone has at least told one lie about someone to escape consequence. It could be
done by politicians, your friends, siblings, and you. You pass such lies and rumors, in result the
innocent will never be seen as innocent. They will always have this heinous act under their
name. The Crucible is a story filled with plot twist, revenge, love and passion. Salem, a town in
Massachusetts, is filled with juicy secrets untold, until some girls accused people of doing
Witchcraft and working with the devil. In the end many people are executed because the court
does not believe them. History repeats itself once again. In a similar case three men, called the
West Memphis 3, were accused of killing three 8 year old boys. Steven Branch, Michael Moore and
Christopher Byers will all striped down of thier clothes and were killed. Damien Echols, Jesse
Misskelley, and Jason Baldwinwere all charged with murder 30 days after case was brought up.
They confessed and pleaded innocent but there was so much evidence against them. Both cases
have taught our society many things. The Crucible and the West Memphis 3 both have people
bringing up false rumors about each other, testimonies were faked, the accused never got the
proper justice. People are interrogated for hours and hours, and finally confess what needs to be
heard. The rumors spread and has been created as evidence against the

The Ethics Of Secondhand Smoking
Is it morally wrong to smoke around your young child? I am lucky enough to have lived on this
earth for forty seven years. I have lived through many things that in today s society would be
considered putting me in harm s way by my parents. I take issue with the courts invading our lives
and homes beyond what their role is in our society. The American CancerSociety says that there is
some evidence suggesting that secondhand smoke might be linked to adults with cancer who were
exposed to secondhand smoke (Society). This statement made by the American Cancer Society
does not sound definitive.
ACA also states there are more than 7,000 chemicals in secondhand smoke, and 70 of those are
known to cause cancer. My question is then why are cigarettes

The And Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is an archipelago that is currently a territory of the United States of America with its
official name being, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; however, it is often referred to by Puerto
Ricans as Borinquen, a term derived from the name given to the island by its original TaГno
natives, BorikГ©n. The TaГno natives were the last group of people to live on the island unphased
by the outside world and are also the most well known pre columbian settlement of Borinquen due
to the greater number of archaeological remains and Spanish documents from the era; the period the
TaГno people inhabited the island is currently known as the TaГno phase (PicoМЃ 12). The TaГno
natives were able to fully utilize the island s resources unlike the earlier inhabitants, amerindians ,
due to their modified cultivation processes, cultivation was started by setting fire to the area of
forest that was to be cleared. Then the soil was heaped into mounds on top of which stalks were
planted (PicoМЃ 13 14). This process allowed for a growth in population sizes where some
settlements may have even reached near five hundred people from what was once only about
twenty five people that could be fed daily through hunting, fishing and gathering fruits during the
time before the TaГno phase (PicoМЃ 14). During the TaГno phase, the people lived under a
hierarchy of sorts. Nitainos were the ruling class with more important responsibilities: heading war
expeditions and influencing collective decision

Swot Analysis Of Nestle Pakistan
Over view of nestle Pakistan:
Nestle Pakistan started its operations in Pakistan in 1988 under a joint venture with milk Pak and
took over management in 1992. Nestle Pakistan is the leading food and beverage company in
Pakistan. The key focus of nestle is on nutrition, health and wellness of people. Nestle Pakistan is
engaged only in production and manufacturing of quality products for its consumers. They are not
directly involve in the distribution of products. They only market or advertise the products. The
distribution work is done with the help of third party.
Segmentation:
When the products are manufactured they are invoiced to the distributer. Here the distributer acts
as a wholesaler, he does not deals in retailing activities. The duty of distributer is just to deliver the
product to retailer.
If we talk about the segmentation, Pakistan is divided in to three zones.
1.South zone
2.Central zone
3.North zone
Each zone is further divided in to more regions. Like if we talk about central zone it is divided in to
five regions.
1.Lahore
2.Sahiwal

they have to increase the inventory for juices and in winter season the demand of coffee is

smoothly that means there exists no gap in supply side and if there arise problems, inventory
turnover is the indicator through which the gap can be analyzed. External environment like

Questionnaire is one of the most popular techniques for gathering data, where questions in a
questionnaire are designed to be answered asynchronously, i.e. without the presence of the
investigator. A goal must be set, before developing the questionnaire, as developer would like to
have relevant reasons before starting working on something. Targeting the participants is another
important element of collecting data through online questionnaire. In many ways questionnaire is
similar to interviews as questions could be open or closed. Since interviewer is not present or in a

For example when a participant is asked about to enter his/her date of birth, a pop up message
could tell them what date format needs to be used. Data validation could easily be implemented in
web based questionnaire, which will warn the user about invalid data and tell them what is
expected. At the same time this would help the researchers from not having invalid data when
analyzing in the lab. For example, when asked a teacher what year the school was established? , the
answer has to be a four digit number less than or equal to current year and will not accept text as
input. By writing a validation rule in the back end, this could be accomplished (max char size = 4
and reg. expression (/d) which will only accept 4 digit number). Skip logic is another simple aspect
of web based questionnaire and it must be implemented when creating and designing a interactive
questionnaire. If a respondent answer a question Yes or No , designer can store 1 or 2 in back end
for comparison purpose. Based on the comparison result, a question or a series of questions can
be skipped. For example, if a respondent answers No when asked if he/she likes to use iPad, rest
of the iPad features related questions can be skipped. Skip logic can be helpful targeting a age
range as well. Another easy aspect of creating and conducting an online questionnaire is faster
response rate and automatic transfer of responses

The almost universal mainstream acclaim for Traffic indicates just how much the worst kinds of
conservative ideologies continue to inform even purportedly liberal attitudes toward drugs, while
the dismissal of Blow as anything more than a decadent fantasy or simplistic cautionary tale
misses its much more accurate indictment of the American idealization of capitalist conquest. 2.
That cocaine is the drug of the ruling class in America is undoubtedly more than a function of its
high price in comparison to other drugs. After all, the effect of cocaine is much closer to the
effects of the most popular of the legal drugs of choice: caffeine and nicotine. (Not surprisingly,
caffeine and cocaine were once combined in Coca Cola.) Like these other speedy substances,
cocaine heightens the senses and gives the user a great deal of energy. However, unlike other
forms of speed, cocaine also gives its user the sensation of mastery and invulnerability. Rather than
the ego death of heroin or LSD, cocaine legitimates the preferred modality of capitalist subjectivity
radical and inviolate individuality. If there were any doubt about the relationship of cocaine to
capitalism, the case is eloquently made by Tony Montana

Lucy Grealy s Autobiography Of A Face
Having the attitude and mental disposition of a child is something heavily mentioned in media.
People crave to see the world with a youthful eye, being able to find joy and laughter in the worst
of situations. This view of a child is shown in Lucy Grealy s book Autobiography of a Face. In
the following passage, Lucy describes getting her medical results back as a child and her
reaction to her results. I told them I had a malignancy. My mother said I seemed rather happy
about it, and my teachers were shocked by my attitude. I told my teacher and all of my friends,
probably with pride: I had a malignancy. I was going to have a big operation now (Grealy 43).
Her reaction is much difference than when an adult receives news of a disease. Most grown adults
would begin to think of death, and how their mortality will affect their loved ones.... Show more

However, Lucy did not see it this way. She was excited and wanted to share about her new
adventure. Later in the passage, she mentions that as an adolescent she finally realized that she
had cancer. This is baffling to think of as an adult, who stresses about every term and ailment
that they have. Perhaps, adults should adopt a childlike mentality to life and view life with its
hardships as an adventure. Emerson discusses this idea as well is his essay, Nature. The sun
illuminates only the eye of the man, but shines into the eye and the heart of the child. The lover
of nature is he whose inward and outward senses are still truly adjusted to each other; who has
retained the spirt of infancy even into the era of manhood (Emerson 183). This lover of nature, has
reclaimed that childhood innocence. This thought brings up some valid questions. If one is to have
a childlike view on life, are they choosing to

The Lovesong Of J Alfred Prufrock Analysis Essay
In The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Eliot tells his poem through the voice of Prufrock
himself, where Prufrock invites readers to join him in his endeavors of the past and future.
Throughout the poem, Eliot uses the idea of time in its composition and in the character

toast and tea, and of the future, after the cups, the marmalade, the tea (34, 88). Eliot s poem

moment, Prufrock talks about what he s doing before he has tea, and then he talks about how he
had tea and what he plans on doing afterward. He never informs the reader about the present
moment, what he currently is thinking of doing. Prufrock constantly references to timeas it would

Eliot has Prufrock reiterate time throughout his song to prove to readers that he has taken no
chances. Prufrock confuses the past with the future throughout his love song, in attempt to take the
reader s attention off the present moment. Though Prufrock began his song with the evening, he
pushes time backwards to go to the mornings and afternoons. He blends these two moments in time,
of the evening and morning, to show how nothing has ultimately changed from the past to the
future. His inaction throughout the poem forces him to try to avert this unwanted attention so the
reader doesn t see how monotonous of a character he is. He knows he has time to change who he
is, but he knows this time is slowly slipping away from

Brief Biography On John Bisland s Life
John Bisland and Susannah Rucker Bisland lived at Mount Airwell, Natchez, Adams County,
Mississippi. Their son, William was born January 7, 1797, at Mount Airwell. While the Bisland
Family Papers Collection states that William was enrolled at college in Mississippi, another
researcher believed William completed his education in Glasgow, Scotland. William married
Mary Louisa Lavinia Witherspoon of South Carolina on October 19, 1820, (some sources
identify her as Mary Louisa Lenox Witherspoon). William followed his father as a cotton planter
in both Adams County, Mississippi and Concordia Parish across the Mississippi River. He built
the plantation home known as Mount Repose a few miles north of Natchez in 1824. This home is

Deaf Culture And Interpreters History
American Deaf Culture and Interpreters History Deaf culture in is one of America s many sub
cultures, which means that it is a culture imbedded into the overall culture of the nation. What is
unique about the deaf culture is that at times it is a sub culture of a sub culture, of a culture, for
example the deaf community in Colorado is a sub culture of Colorado s culture, and Colorado
culture is a sub culture of the American culture. It can get even more complicated than even that,
because say there is an African American deaf culturein the deaf community that adds another deaf
culture. It is also unique and set apart from other cultures because of the language barrier between
the deaf community and the hearing community. Deaf culture has only recently been accepted by
the general public, as well as they have not always had access to an interpreter. Deaf culture has
changed drastically since before the 1960 s.
In today s society deaf culture is not considered to be a population of animal like humans, but
that was not the case before the 1960 s. In the past people who were deaf did not live normal
lives, they were in a way the outcasts. If you were born deaf before the 1960 s there were not
many options for the deaf, often times they were looked down upon and thought of as glorified
animals. Because they were viewed as animals they were not accepted into the mainstream schools,
even though there were a few institutes for the deaf, a lot of times families could not afford

Compare And Contrast The Duality Of Science And Religion
The Duality of Religion and Science
Science is the process which discovers knowledge, knowledge in turn is power, and power is said
to bring about corruption. Therefore, through the transitive property, that implies that science will
only lead to corruption. Not necessarily a corruption of one s actions; for instance, science won t
make a politician accept a bribe. However, some would argue that science will lead to a
degradation of morals. For example, contemporary science may lead to a woman viewing her
unborn baby as naught but a ball of cells, similar to a tumor, which can be removed from her body
with no moral dilemma. The converse to this is the impediment of science due to humanity
clinging to its archaic values. This can be shown by the opposition to stem cell research and
genetically modified embryos in the name of morals and the inviolability of life. The stark contrast
between following morals and advancing science creates a juxtaposition that often manifests itself
as a debate between religion and science. Certain members of both the scientific and religious
communities blindly adhere to their own opinions and ideals. This butting of heads helps no one.
As a result, a middle road must be found, one in which neither progress nor morality are ignored.
The polarity between these two forces is encapsulated by the differences that Bertolt Brecht draws
in his play Galileo between Galileo and the clergymen. This play, when contrasted with the reality
of Galileo s

Life of a Pilot Many people travel on a plane each year, but have never wondered what the people
flying the plane have done to get to this level. Becoming a pilot requires difficult work, and takes
time, mostly in the early stages of flight school. A pilot must go to school for many years, on top
of the two years of college ( Education ), and must go through many different airlines. A pilot
also must stay away from their family whenever they are flying, as they may only fly 3 days a

Women in Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow...
Through history women have fought for equal rights and freedom. This tension is derived from
men; society, in general; and within a woman herself. In the nineteenth century, women in
literature were often portrayed as submissive to men. Literature of this period often characterized
women as oppressed by society, as well as by the male influences in their lives. This era is
especially interesting because it is a time in modern society when women were still treated as
second class citizens. Two interesting short stories, Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow

Hemmingway and Gilman, leave an open end to the stories and allow readers to create... Show more

Instructed to abandon her intellectual life and avoid stimulating company, she sinks into a still
deeper depression invisible to her husband, which is also her doctor, who believes he knows
what is best for her. Alone in the yellow wallpapered nursery of a rented house, she descends into
madness. Everyday she keeps looking at the torn yellow wallpaper. While there, she is forbidden
to write in her journal, as it indulges her imagination, which is not in accordance with her husband
s wishes. Despite this, the narrator makes entries in the journal whenever she has the opportunity.
Through these entries we learn of her obsession with the wallpaper in her bedroom. She is
enthralled with it and studies the paper for hours. She thinks she sees a woman trapped behind the
pattern in the paper. The story reaches its climax when her husband must force his way into the
bedroom, only to find that his wife has pulled the paper off the wall and is crawling around the
perimeter of the room.
Hills Like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper are both about couples dealing with a

stories show that the man has more control and authority than the woman. Hills Like White

communication exhibited by the couple. In The Yellow

The Pros And Cons Of Day Labor

117,600 workers in the United States are either looking for day labor jobs or working as day

be looked at on a local level. For example, take a small neighborhood s community from a suburb
or city like New York, The largest concentration of hiring sites and day laborers is in the West,
while the Midwest is the region with the fewest number of sites and workers. The size of
individual day labor hiring sites varies considerably. One third of all sites are small sites (with

How Did Thomas Paine Use Ethos In The Crisis No 1
No Paine, No Gain Heralded as the leader of a new age of philosophy and eventual rebellion,
Thomas Paine gave way to the birth of America and its subsequent constitution. Presenting his
views in The Crisis, No 1, he explicitly petitions for a call to arms and separation from the
motherland. His associate Patrick Henry wrote the Virginia Convention, detailing a similar
argument for independence, albeit to a lesser impact on American colonists. The Crisis, No 1 is
more persuasive than the Virginia Convention because its author employs logos and pathos to
push Americans to continue the fight against Britain. To begin with, Paine uses a multitude of
logos specific arguments. Toward the end of the piece he describes the present army which gives
the readers a justified hope in the American militia. He writes, ВЁOnce more we are again
collected and collecting; our new army at both ends of the continent is recruiting fast, and we shall

The Concept Of Sin In Dante Alighieri s Inferno
Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the first of three books in The Divine Comedy. A comedy in Dante s
time didn t mean what it means today: a comedy was a piece of literature that moved from dark to
light or from damnation to salvation in the eyes of God. In The Inferno, Dante delves into darkness
and damnation, and his view of the nature of Hell. Dante was a devout Catholic, so most of his
inspiration for The Inferno came from the Bible. In Dante s version of Hell, there are nine circles
that reach to the center of the Earth: Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Avarice and Prodigality, Wrath and
Sullenness, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery. Those who commit the least severe sins are put
near the top, as in Limbo, and the worst sins at the bottom come with the worst punishments. Dante,
the character in the book, is escorted by the poet Virgilto literally explore Dante s descent into sin.
To better understand the book s concept of sin, the reader should compare the least sinful part of
Hell, Limbo, to the most sinful part of Hell, the ninth circle where Satan is kept.
The poem begins with Dante waking up in a forest. Dante tries to climb the mountain and sees
three beasts: a leopard, a lion, and a wolf. Later, Dante meets Virgil, a Roman poet Dante is fond
of, to help him climb the mountain. Virgil says they have to go through Hell first before reaching
Heaven, where Beatrice, a woman Dante loved in real life, will be waiting for him. Eventually,
Dante and Virgil get to the first

the astronomical model developed by Nicolaus Copernicus and published in 1543. It positioned the

definition of these people of the world. However, they are those people too impoverished in all
societies worldwide, reorganized by their respective societies as indigenous natives, are identified
with the pre and post colonial continuity, having links with historical kingdoms and live around
natural resources with a peculiar political, economic and social set up. Over seventy nations of this
world habit indigenous people estimated to be 370 millions. What is so important is that they a
rich in cultural archeology, linguistically exorbitant with diverse religions, storytelling, art and
traditions. In states where colonial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mental health or disorders Mental and health disorders also give a measure of hospital
management for the mentally indigenous people. Statistics show that for the period 2005 2006,
health officials registered a high number of mentally sick patients of this kind in Australia.
(Australian institute of Health and welfare and australian Bureau of statistics, 2008, p. P.111).
Majority of them had psychoactive problems at 5:3 ratios for both male and female respectively,
some of which were self induced. In Canada, the situation is caused by induced and self imposed
racial discrimination. For all these reasons, the United Nations argued countries to avoid racial
discrimination by promoting equality in the provision of health services and affirmative action in
indigenous communities. (United Nations Development Program (UNDP) , 2000, P.10). Life
expectancy In Australia, the life expectancy at birth for the males had reduced and health
authorities expressed the desire to improve it. Based on statistics for 2005 2007, males
expectancy was 67.2 years showing a drop by 11.5 years for non indigenous people. For females,
the standing is 72.9 years below non indigenous people by 9.7 years. From 1996 2001, the male to
female ratio was at59.4:64.8 years. This meant that the Australian government had taken up

Measuring Populairty of NHL Franchises
I will be examining Forbes s list of most expensive NHL franchises based on data collected up
until the 2013 2014 season. This particular form of popular culture is the National Hockey League
or the professional ice hockey sport. This is an important topic to examine, because these are multi
million dollar (in some cases billion dollar) organizations/franchises where lots of revenue is made
daily, affecting the North American economy greatly. Although some teams are worth much more
then others, how well the team performs doesn t directly affect the teams overall worth, rather time
spent in the league, and location of each given team act as the biggest factors.
The National Hockey League team evaluation chart designed by Forbes measures the current
value of each of the 30 respective teams in the league. This number is found after calculating each
clubs overall revenue, minus the overall expenses of the club. The next column shows the 1 year
value change in a percentile number form, and this number is basically representing how much
increased revenue each given team has generated since last years chart. For the first time in a
decade, each National Hockey League club s revenue actually increased since last year. The next
column indicates the percentage of debt each team has to pay off. This includes any money that
each team owes, and the main percentage of this number is generated off of arena expenses. The
next column in the chart represents the total amount of revenue each

The Importance Of Cellular And Cellular Signals Regulating...
After thickening of chamber walls during cardiac embryogenesis, oxygen and nutrients can no
longer be passively diffused into cardiac cells, therefore, a primitive vascular develops to supply
these vital resources. The plexus then further matures into coronary arteries and veins which
ensures continued development of the heart. However, the vasculogenesis of these coronary blood
vessels is not fully understood and has been a topic of intense research and debate. Over time,
various models have been proposed, indicating the importance of cellular and molecular signals
regulating vascularization of the embryonic heart. Interestingly, research has highlighted the
contribution of extra cardiac cells which migrates and differentiates in the heart.
Keywords: Vasculogenesis, angiogenesis, embryogenesis, VEGF, anatomical variations.
Introduction Much of what is known about the origin of cells that make up the coronary vascular
network comes from immuno histochemical analyses, quail chick chimera experiments, retroviral
labelling, gene targeting experiments and, more recently, lineage tracing studies. Interestingly, not a
single cell that makes up the coronary system of the heart arises from the heart. All of this happens
without ever tapping into the blood that courses through the primitive heart tube (Mu et al., 2005;
David et al., 2002). Within the past two decades much progress has been made into elucidating the
molecular principles initiating and regulating coronary vessel

Not Just Horsing Around
Imagine yourself as a child with restricted movements and impairments not felt by others your age.
Imagine for a longing to be free, free from the restricting walls of the hospital and therapy room.
Freedom was a goal that Anne and Tom had for their son William. They wanted freedom of the
traditional therapy setting because watching their child make little to no progress therapy session
after therapy session left Anne and Tom discouraged. They wanted nothing more for their son
than to thrive and develop the new skills that they knew he could. William has hypotonia, or low
muscle tone and some overall developmental delays said Anne. His parents set several goals, but
their first goal was to get William to learn to walk. Watching his therapy sessions in the traditional
setting were painful as parents. They were feeling hopeless with the lack of progress with the
physical therapy sessions William was attending. The Physical therapist herself felt that there was
not much more that she could do there in the hospital for William. That s when she recommended
hippotherapy. Hippotherapy is what would eventually get William to his goal of walking in 3 short
months, and though not a therapy goal, one of William s first words was Dolly, the name of a
favorite volunteer. Hippotherapy for William. What is hippotherapy? Hippotherapy

Youth Works Response to Alcohol Consumption among Young...
Current responses
For the purposes of this research chapter I shall be exploring youth works response to the issue of
alcohol consumption among young people today. According to the Youth Work Act 2001;
Youth work means a planned programme of education designed for the purpose of aiding and
enhancing the personal and social development of young persons through their voluntary
participation, and which is
(a) Complementary to their formal, academic or vocational education and training; and
(b) Provided primarily by voluntary youth work organisations.
Youth workers achieve this by creating circumstances which enable young people to feel
comfortable with themselves, make and sustain personal relationships, reach their potential and
find their place in society. Due to the nature of their work, youth workers form close relationships
with the young people they engage with. These relationships are central to the youth work process.
It is essentially a partnership, which allows the young people space to express themselves and
provides an opportunity for learning which they may otherwise ignore. By utilising this relationship
youth workers can offer essential support to the young people during the crucial stages of their
development by befriending them, listening to them and advocating on their behalf. The
importance of this relationship does not change when working with young people around issues
such as alcohol. In fact, in many ways it actually benefits the facilitation of the

On that foundation, we are pursuing one big, overarching goal. We aim to be the world s
strongest, best and best integrated aerospace company for today and tomorrow. Measured against
that goal, 2007 stands out as a year of significant and accelerating progress. We achieved record
financial performance, which reflects the potent combination of good top line growth and strong
gains in productivity. Total revenues rose to an all time high of $66.4 billion. For the first time
ever, both of our core businesses Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Boeing Integrated Defense
Systems simultaneously achieved double digit operating margins. Gains in productivity and
performance in existing programs contributed significantly to earnings and helped offset additional
investment in key growth programs. Our cash flow went from strong to even stronger increasing
from $7.5 billion in 2006 to $9.6 billion in 2007.
We also had our best year ever in capturing new business and adding to a backlog that now totals
almost one third of a trillion dollars or just about five times our total revenues in 2007. Boeing

Justin was akin to a father to Justinian, he gave him salvation where he struggled and practically
reinvigorated his will to learn and do well in the world. While Justin enabled Justinian to learn
and become an amazing man, he also attempted to find his way into the seat of the throne while
the rule was weak. Justin had very obviously failed seeing as he was NOT fit to be a ruler, he
was not an intelligent man after all. Justinian witnessed his uncle s failure and was able to learn
from the experience and, using his position as the King s bodyguard (Citation), intelligence and
military experience, weaseled his way into the throne, and into the position of King. As the
King, Justinian was powerful. He held a large blade over all others that opposed him and was
the largest factor as to why many of his people had been in fear. At any moment he could have
crumpled under the pressure of all the power he held in the palm of his hand, and he had,
multiple times. To easily and very simply accentuate his power, he would force those who
approached him to bow down on their hands and feet (Lindquist 318). Even one of his closest
acquaintances, Procopius, had described him as insincere, crafty, hypocritical, double dealing,
clever, and a perfect artist in acting out his opinion (Macmillan Profiles 234). Many also described
him as being an absolute Monarch and as the Anointed of the Lord (Lindquist 317). Despite all of
this, he had also been described as abstemious,

Characteristics of Drama
History of Drama
Ancient Drama
The origins of Western drama can be traced to the celebratory music of 6th century BC Attica,
the Greek region centered on Athens. Although accounts of this period are inadequate, it appears
that the poet Thespis developed a new musical form in which he impersonated a single character
and engaged a chorus of singer dancers in dialogue. As the first composer and soloist in this new
form, which came to be known as tragedy, Thespis can be considered both the first dramatist and
the first actor. Of the hundreds of works produced by Greek tragic playwrights, only 32 plays by
the three major innovators in this new art form survive. Aeschylus created the possibility of
developing conflict between characters by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subject matter was drawn from nature and natural man (such as the supposedly untouched Native
American). Perhaps one of the best examples of Romantic drama is Faust (Part I, 1808; Part II,
1832) by the German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Based on the classic legend of the
man who sells his soul to the devil, this play of epic proportions depicts humankind s attempt to
master all knowledge and power in its constant struggle with the universe. The Romantics focused
on emotion rather than rationality, drew their examples from a study of the real world rather than
the ideal, and glorified the idea of the artist as a mad genius unfettered by rules. Romanticism thus
gave rise to a vast array of dramatic literature and production that was often undisciplined and that
often substituted emotional manipulation for substantial ideas.
Romanticism first appeared in Germany, a country with little native theatre other than rustic farces
before the 18th century. By the 1820s Romanticism dominated the theatre of most of Europe. Many
of the ideas and practices of Romanticism were evident in the late 18th century Sturm und Drang
movement of Germany led by Goethe and the dramatist Friedrich Schiller. These plays had no
single style but were generally strongly emotional, and, in their experimentation with form, laid the
groundwork for the rejection of Neo Classicism. The plays of the

Earthquake Problems
The Earthquake struck the country at 4:53 p.m, it was a time that many people were out and
about, at school, at work or just outside doing things. It was pure chaos from the moment it struck
the overly populated city. There were very few rescues that first evening of the earthquake, and as
night fell, residents found themselves in a world of darkness and grief (Petrou). One of the larger
problems with the earthquake was that it destroyed much of it s government offices and the capital
city of Port au Prince, many of the resources that would have helped rescue people and revive the
city were destroyed. Port au Prince had a populationof 2 million people at the time, that s almost a
fourth of the countries population, but the capitals infrastructure is layed out to support just over
115,000. So on top of the overpopulation in the area, you have a massive catastrophe and a whole
lot of people with nowhere to go, especially with all of the rubble. There wasn t much of anything
that residents could do, other than to help each other. Fredson Demostherma, a resident of Leogane
said Haitis future is in the hands of other nations, and God, (Petrou). Fredson was with his family
in his home when the tragedy struck, he jumped out of his second floor window, only to see the
the rest of his family get trapped among the rubble. That was the scene for many residents, seeing
their loved ones die instantly or not being able to help, or have someone to call. There were no

The Cask Of Amontillado, Good Country People, And The Lottery
The dark side of human nature has been present throughout the course of life as illustrated in The
Cask of Amontillado, Good Country People, and The Lottery. The darkness is a predominant
theme as expressed by a few character traits throughout the short stories. Humans have been
responsible for acts of care and compassion, yet the dark side of humannature overcomes them
through the themes of pride, self preservation, and deception which throughout the short stories
gives evidence of the dark side of human nature.
Pride has built the characters up and blinded them to the point where they undertake horrible
actions. Pride has corrupted and transformed the nature of the characters as expressed by Montresor

The Equal Pay Act Essay
One problem that Americans are facing is the inequality between men and women, whether it is in
everyday life or in a professional atmosphere. One step that has been taken toward equality was
introduced with the Equal Pay Act of 1963, signed by President John F. Kennedy. This law was the
first affecting the amount of job opportunities available for women and allowing them to work in
traditionally male dominated fields. On the outside, this would sound like a solution where nothing
could possibly go wrong, but it is not.
There are nearly as many women as there are men working, yet, as it was discovered in 2011, on
average, a woman will only earn seventy seven cents for every dollar that a man earns. Women

Banks, from the 1964 Disney Movie Mary Poppins, who was neglectful toward her children on her
journey for her rights.
Feminism is a living word. There can never truly be a one set definition for the word as the term has
often shifted meanings to correspond to the time period. Feminists fight for the rights that men have
under the United States Constitution and to have the right to not be discriminated against. Any
action against any woman, intentional or not, goes against the principles that many women and
men stand for.
The quest for equal rights is usually put into two different waves: the first wave being considered
women s suffrage and the second being the equal right movement. One big uprising in feminism
happened alongside the abolitionist movement. Many women started to realize that, as they were
fighting to get African Americans out of their version of perdition at the hands of their slave
owners, that they themselves were slaves to the will of the men in society. Since many women
petitioned for antislavery, the Congress in session at the time put forth the gag rule, which placed
many of these petitions off to the side for consideration.
The feminist movement that is more recognized was started by Betty Friedan. She was the author
of The Feminine Mystique, a book that called for many women to enrich themselves from the
unnamed problem that left

Political Philosophy Is The Issue Of Political Obligation
One of the central issues in political philosophy is the issue of political obligation. This concerns
the presence, the nature and especially the foundation of a particular relationship between
government and its citizens. Philosophical Anarchism challenges this relationship. In this endeavor
it differs from the position of Political Anarchism, which has as its main goal not only the moral
devaluation but also the decline of the state. Conversely, the main method of philosophical
anarchism is the rejection of theories that support the political task without necessarily to adopt the
position that the state is inevitably evil and it must be abolished. The political authority concerns a
grid of exclusive rights on the social life, such as how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main concern of anarchism is that the political limitations are such that create problems as it
has to do with the individual freedom and fulfillment. On the one hand, we find our lives to be
controlled by political institutions and we take this power for granted. On the other, usually in
our lives we want to decide ourselves about major issues that affect us, to be able to make
choices and act freely, without the others to decide for us. Then why in the case of the state we
consider the control and authority of others over us for granted? The answer is that the states
were created in order to serve their citizens. They are good for our lives, destined to make easier
and fair the coexistence between us. The states form a scheme that is created by man himself to
ameliorate his life. Therefore, they are his choice, a product of the very freedom of man, of his
will to govern himself. But this seems to give birth to a paradox; man decided to govern himself
because he does not want to be governed. Substantially the paradox is not a paradox. It is only
apparently paradoxical. This is because the restrictions are not incompatible with freedom when
they derive from it. The appearance of the paradox reflects the idea that the best way to justify the
authority and the limitations over people is to demonstrate that

The Right Side of History? The wave of demonstrations, uprisings and revolutions in North Africa
and the Middle East has presented the United States with a complex set of diplomatic problems.
While a key component of U.S. foreign policy is promoting and supporting democracy, it is vital to
U.S. interests that the Middle East remains relatively stable. A truly democratic Arab world is a
new concept, and is one that has yet to show its true colors. If the result of the Palestinian
Authority legislative elections held in January of 2006 is any indication of what may evolve in the
region, the U.S. has plenty of cause for concern. The elections, ... Show more content on

Shortly after the protests began in Tunisia, a wave of protests and demonstrations swept over the
Arab world, from Algeria to Yemen, with few countries being exempt from the movement. Leaders
of wealthier countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain, offered economic concessions to
stave off unrest. Other leaders offered minor political concessions. Yet the protests continue. The
Egyptian Revolution, which began with protests on January 25, 2011 and lasted for 18 days,
became a media sensation watched worldwide. Not only conventional media, but social media as
well. Social media played an unprecedented and important role in Egypt, changing the face of
revolutions forever. Unlike Tunisia, a marginal actor in the region, Egypt is the most populous, and
one could argue, the most important country in the Middle East, at least in terms of maintaining
stability. The U.S., which had backed the Egyptian government militarily since 1979 and had
friendly relations with Mubarak, was faced with tough diplomatic decisions. Many foreign relations
experts agree that the Obama Administration did a reasonable job handling the tricky situation.

The Cause And Effects Of The Atrocity Of War

conflicts of human history. World War 1 stimulated into existence with the Assassination of
Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria, in June 1914, the war triggered from these notions of
militarism, imperialism, nationalism and alliance system. World War 2, started as a result of

  • 2. The Outsiders By Francis Ford Coppola The Outsiders a film directed by Francis Ford Coppola s in the 1980s is about two social groups of teenagers who happens to live in the same town and attends the same high school. Although both two social groups live in the same vicinity, they live a completely different life. A group identified as the South Side Socials (aka socs ), are the upper class teenagers, while the Greasers, are the less fortunate kids, who just so happen to live on the wrong side of town. These two social groups have had a conflict against one another for several years, but on one specific evening, this rivalry turns deadly as one of the greasers, Johnny, stabs and murders a socs. Due to the passing of one of the Socs, the Socs tried to avenge the death of their friend, while the greasers tried to get the town to comprehend that the Socs were also at fault during that conflict. The Outsider is an exceptional film depicting how social groups can explain our behavior, and how deviance and crime are observed in relation to our social group. A social group is defined as a group of two or more people who interact frequently with one another, shares a portion sense of belonging and have a sensation of interdependence. As seen in the film, both the Socs and the greasers care deeply for each associate of the corresponding group. Towards the end of the film, as Johnny is being hospitalized for severe burns, Pony Boy expresses himself by stating the fact that things would be different if he pass away. ... In fact, while in prison, Alex pursues the Bible not for sanctuary of faith, but as an insight into more violence and sex, gaining a type of ally in the Prison Chaplain, who misunderstands his intentions with the Bible. As the proposition of a shorter sentence is given, the Chaplain questions the morality of the techniques going to be used. Does God want goodness or the choice of goodness? Is a man who chooses to be bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him? (Burgess 166). The Chaplain is imploring him to just take his sentence instead of sacrificing his free will to get out of prison sooner. He is foreshadowing that this could be a hellish result. Alex elects to have his free will stolen from him through the Ludovico Technique, an aversion theory that causes him to associate any kind of violent thought with sickness. Lee explained about how hip hop had spread throughout many countries in the world, and its impact can be seen particularly in his example of S. Korean hip hop. Four hip hop groups: Epik High, Dynamic Duo, Drunken Tiger, and Soul Company are used in support of his argument of glocalization in South Korea. • 6. Cultural Conflict between Hmong s and American Culture This entry book spirit catches you and you fall down is talking about the cultural conflict between the Hmong s culture and American culture. These differences are brought by the strong beliefs in the Hmong s culture, and the difficulties to accept a new culture. There is a lot of misunderstanding/conflicts between these two cultures in the book. Usually, when the doctors are trying to convince the Lee s family about Lia s treatments, the Lees are stuck in their ways and really hard to accept what the doctors have to say about their beloved daughter. They believe in their own ways, even if it is helpful or not. They refuse to accept the doctors ideas, and because the treatments that the doctors give are based on the scientific experiences, so the doctors believe that the Hmong s ideas are unreasonable or even stupid .However, when the cultureconflicts face the love, these cultural differences become meaningless, which lead me to think that love is the only way that bring these cultures to connect. The Hmong cultural/religious belief in shamanistic animism claim that wicked spirits are continually searching human souls, mostly those of defenseless or unappreciated children. For Hmong culture, epilepsy is known as qaug dab peg which means, the spirit catches you and you fall down in English (Fadiman 1997), which epileptic invasions are seen as affirmation of the epileptic s capability to enter and stay temporarily into the spirit world (unconsciousness). Steven Branch, Michael Moore and Christopher Byers will all striped down of thier clothes and were killed. Damien Echols, Jesse Misskelley, and Jason Baldwinwere all charged with murder 30 days after case was brought up. They confessed and pleaded innocent but there was so much evidence against them. • 9. The Ethics Of Secondhand Smoking Is it morally wrong to smoke around your young child? I am lucky enough to have lived on this earth for forty seven years. I have lived through many things that in today s society would be considered putting me in harm s way by my parents. I take issue with the courts invading our lives and homes beyond what their role is in our society. The And Puerto Rico Puerto Rico is an archipelago that is currently a territory of the United States of America with its official name being, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; however, it is often referred to by Puerto Ricans as Borinquen, a term derived from the name given to the island by its original TaГno natives, BorikГ©n. The TaГno natives were the last group of people to live on the island unphased by the outside world and are also the most well known pre columbian settlement of Borinquen due to the greater number of archaeological remains and Spanish documents from the era; the period the TaГno people inhabited the island is currently known as the TaГno phase (PicoМЃ 12). The TaГno natives were able to fully utilize the island s resources unlike the earlier inhabitants, amerindians , due to their modified cultivation processes, cultivation was started by setting fire to the area of forest that was to be cleared. Then the soil was heaped into mounds on top of which stalks were planted (PicoМЃ 13 14). This process allowed for a growth in population sizes where some settlements may have even reached near five hundred people from what was once only about twenty five people that could be fed daily through hunting, fishing and gathering fruits during the time before the TaГno phase (PicoМЃ 14). A goal must be set, before developing the questionnaire, as developer would like to have relevant reasons before starting working on something. Data validation could easily be implemented in web based questionnaire, which will warn the user about invalid data and tell them what is expected. At the same time this would help the researchers from not having invalid data when analyzing in the lab. For example, when asked a teacher what year the school was established? , the answer has to be a four digit number less than or equal to current year and will not accept text as input. By writing a validation rule in the back end, this could be accomplished (max char size = 4 and reg. expression (/d) which will only accept 4 digit number). Skip logic is another simple aspect of web based questionnaire and it must be implemented when creating and designing a interactive questionnaire. If a respondent answer a question Yes or No , designer can store 1 or 2 in back end for comparison purpose. Based on the comparison result, a question or a series of questions can be skipped. For example, if a respondent answers No when asked if he/she likes to use iPad, rest of the iPad features related questions can be skipped. Skip logic can be helpful targeting a age range as well. After all, the effect of cocaine is much closer to the effects of the most popular of the legal drugs of choice: caffeine and nicotine. The lover of nature is he whose inward and outward senses are still truly adjusted to each other; who has retained the spirt of infancy even into the era of manhood (Emerson 183). • 26. Compare And Contrast The Duality Of Science And Religion The Duality of Religion and Science Science is the process which discovers knowledge, knowledge in turn is power, and power is said to bring about corruption. Therefore, through the transitive property, that implies that science will only lead to corruption. Not necessarily a corruption of one s actions; for instance, science won t make a politician accept a bribe. However, some would argue that science will lead to a degradation of morals. For example, contemporary science may lead to a woman viewing her unborn baby as naught but a ball of cells, similar to a tumor, which can be removed from her body with no moral dilemma. The converse to this is the impediment of science due to humanity clinging to its archaic values. This can be shown by the opposition to stem cell research and genetically modified embryos in the name of morals and the inviolability of life. The stark contrast between following morals and advancing science creates a juxtaposition that often manifests itself as a debate between religion and science. Certain members of both the scientific and religious communities blindly adhere to their own opinions and ideals. This butting of heads helps no one. As a result, a middle road must be found, one in which neither progress nor morality are ignored. This era is especially interesting because it is a time in modern society when women were still treated as second class citizens. Two interesting short stories, Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper focus on a womans plight near the turn of the nineteenth century. Both authors, Hemmingway and Gilman, leave an open end to the stories and allow readers to create... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instructed to abandon her intellectual life and avoid stimulating company, she sinks into a still deeper depression invisible to her husband, which is also her doctor, who believes he knows what is best for her. Alone in the yellow wallpapered nursery of a rented house, she descends into madness. Everyday she keeps looking at the torn yellow wallpaper. While there, she is forbidden to write in her journal, as it indulges her imagination, which is not in accordance with her husband s wishes. Despite this, the narrator makes entries in the journal whenever she has the opportunity. Through these entries we learn of her obsession with the wallpaper in her bedroom. She is enthralled with it and studies the paper for hours. She thinks she sees a woman trapped behind the pattern in the paper. The story reaches its climax when her husband must force his way into the bedroom, only to find that his wife has pulled the paper off the wall and is crawling around the perimeter of the room. Hills Like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper are both about couples dealing with a delicate situation in a time when the power of men over women is obvious. The characters in both stories show that the man has more control and authority than the woman. Hills Like White Elephants demonstrates this through the use of the setting, time restrictions, and poor communication exhibited by the couple. In The Yellow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These individuals are part of a demographic that left homes, loved ones, and old lives behind to start a new living in a foreign land. This aspect facilitates a mindset of people who aren t here to play games, so why is their existence something to be toyed with? One of the primary forms of employment that immigrants gravitate towards is day laboring. United Workers Congress states in a report on day laborers that, on any given day, at least 117,600 workers in the United States are either looking for day labor jobs or working as day laborers, and while that number may seem low in the grand scheme of the economy, it should be looked at on a local level. For example, take a small neighborhood s community from a suburb or city like New York, The largest concentration of hiring sites and day laborers is in the West, while the Midwest is the region with the fewest number of sites and workers. The size of individual day labor hiring sites varies considerably. One third of all sites are small sites (with 25 workers or less), 37 percent are medium sites (with 26 to 50 job seekers), 23 percent are large sites (with 51 to 100 job seekers) and 7 percent are very large sites (with more than 100 job seekers). If you have a few hundred individuals who s main form of work is day laboring and these individuals are getting cheated out of their already low wages, you then have a large portion of the community that is not spending money because they aren t making any. This lack of being able to support themselves means that there are even more people in need of government benefits for those who are eligible. Presenting his views in The Crisis, No 1, he explicitly petitions for a call to arms and separation from the motherland. His associate Patrick Henry wrote the Virginia Convention, detailing a similar argument for independence, albeit to a lesser impact on American colonists. The Crisis, No 1 is more persuasive than the Virginia Convention because its author employs logos and pathos to push Americans to continue the fight against Britain. To begin with, Paine uses a multitude of logos specific arguments. Toward the end of the piece he describes the present army which gives the readers a justified hope in the American militia. • 33. The Concept Of Sin In Dante Alighieri s Inferno Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the first of three books in The Divine Comedy. A comedy in Dante s time didn t mean what it means today: a comedy was a piece of literature that moved from dark to light or from damnation to salvation in the eyes of God. In The Inferno, Dante delves into darkness and damnation, and his view of the nature of Hell. Dante was a devout Catholic, so most of his inspiration for The Inferno came from the Bible. In Dante s version of Hell, there are nine circles that reach to the center of the Earth: Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Avarice and Prodigality, Wrath and Sullenness, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery. Those who commit the least severe sins are put near the top, as in Limbo, and the worst sins at the bottom come with the worst punishments. Dante, the character in the book, is escorted by the poet Virgilto literally explore Dante s descent into sin. To better understand the book s concept of sin, the reader should compare the least sinful part of Hell, Limbo, to the most sinful part of Hell, the ninth circle where Satan is kept. The poem begins with Dante waking up in a forest. Dante tries to climb the mountain and sees three beasts: a leopard, a lion, and a wolf. Later, Dante meets Virgil, a Roman poet Dante is fond of, to help him climb the mountain. Virgil says they have to go through Hell first before reaching Heaven, where Beatrice, a woman Dante loved in real life, will be waiting for him. Eventually, Dante and Virgil get to the first ... Hsbc Thesis Statement 1.9 billion, or a mere five weeks profit for the global banking giant, HSBC was the punishment handed by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), in late 2012, for the bank s systematic disregard of shady financial transactions. The DOJ s decision is in response to the bank s failure to follow: the Bank Secrecy Act, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, and the Trading with the Enemy Act. HSBC deliberately avoided reviewing flagged financial documents and clear warning signs that it was conducting business with well known drug cartels such as the Sinaloa Cartel and even jihadist groups connected to Al Qaeda. This particular form of popular culture is the National Hockey League or the professional ice hockey sport. This is an important topic to examine, because these are multi million dollar (in some cases billion dollar) organizations/franchises where lots of revenue is made daily, affecting the North American economy greatly. Although some teams are worth much more then others, how well the team performs doesn t directly affect the teams overall worth, rather time spent in the league, and location of each given team act as the biggest factors. The National Hockey League team evaluation chart designed by Forbes measures the current value of each of the 30 respective teams in the league. This number is found after calculating each clubs overall revenue, minus the overall expenses of the club. The next column shows the 1 year value change in a percentile number form, and this number is basically representing how much increased revenue each given team has generated since last years chart. • 41. The Importance Of Cellular And Cellular Signals Regulating... After thickening of chamber walls during cardiac embryogenesis, oxygen and nutrients can no longer be passively diffused into cardiac cells, therefore, a primitive vascular develops to supply these vital resources. The plexus then further matures into coronary arteries and veins which ensures continued development of the heart. However, the vasculogenesis of these coronary blood vessels is not fully understood and has been a topic of intense research and debate. Over time, various models have been proposed, indicating the importance of cellular and molecular signals regulating vascularization of the embryonic heart. Interestingly, research has highlighted the contribution of extra cardiac cells which migrates and differentiates in the heart. Keywords: Vasculogenesis, angiogenesis, embryogenesis, VEGF, anatomical variations. Introduction Much of what is known about the origin of cells that make up the coronary vascular network comes from immuno histochemical analyses, quail chick chimera experiments, retroviral labelling, gene targeting experiments and, more recently, lineage tracing studies. Interestingly, not a single cell that makes up the coronary system of the heart arises from the heart. All of this happens without ever tapping into the blood that courses through the primitive heart tube (Mu et al., 2005; David et al., 2002). Current responses For the purposes of this research chapter I shall be exploring youth works response to the issue of alcohol consumption among young people today. According to the Youth Work Act 2001; Youth work means a planned programme of education designed for the purpose of aiding and enhancing the personal and social development of young persons through their voluntary participation, and which is (a) Complementary to their formal, academic or vocational education and training; and (b) Provided primarily by voluntary youth work organisations. Youth workers achieve this by creating circumstances which enable young people to feel comfortable with themselves, make and sustain personal relationships, reach their potential and find their place in society. Due to the nature of their work, youth workers form close relationships with the young people they engage with. These relationships are central to the youth work process. It is essentially a partnership, which allows the young people space to express themselves and provides an opportunity for learning which they may otherwise ignore. By utilising this relationship youth workers can offer essential support to the young people during the crucial stages of their development by befriending them, listening to them and advocating on their behalf. The importance of this relationship does not change when working with young people around issues such as alcohol. In fact, in many ways it actually benefits the facilitation of the ... Although accounts of this period are inadequate, it appears that the poet Thespis developed a new musical form in which he impersonated a single character and engaged a chorus of singer dancers in dialogue. As the first composer and soloist in this new form, which came to be known as tragedy, Thespis can be considered both the first dramatist and the first actor. Subject matter was drawn from nature and natural man (such as the supposedly untouched Native American). Perhaps one of the best examples of Romantic drama is Faust (Part I, 1808; Part II, 1832) by the German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Based on the classic legend of the man who sells his soul to the devil, this play of epic proportions depicts humankind s attempt to master all knowledge and power in its constant struggle with the universe. The Romantics focused on emotion rather than rationality, drew their examples from a study of the real world rather than the ideal, and glorified the idea of the artist as a mad genius unfettered by rules. Romanticism thus gave rise to a vast array of dramatic literature and production that was often undisciplined and that often substituted emotional manipulation for substantial ideas. Romanticism first appeared in Germany, a country with little native theatre other than rustic farces before the 18th century. By the 1820s Romanticism dominated the theatre of most of Europe. Many of the ideas and practices of Romanticism were evident in the late 18th century Sturm und Drang movement of Germany led by Goethe and the dramatist Friedrich Schiller. These plays had no single style but were generally strongly emotional, and, in their experimentation with form, laid the groundwork for the rejection of Neo Classicism. The plays of the ... One step that has been taken toward equality was introduced with the Equal Pay Act of 1963, signed by President John F. Kennedy. This law was the first affecting the amount of job opportunities available for women and allowing them to work in traditionally male dominated fields. On the outside, this would sound like a solution where nothing could possibly go wrong, but it is not. There are nearly as many women as there are men working, yet, as it was discovered in 2011, on average, a woman will only earn seventy seven cents for every dollar that a man earns. Women owned businesses make up for over a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Banks, from the 1964 Disney Movie Mary Poppins, who was neglectful toward her children on her journey for her rights. Feminism is a living word. There can never truly be a one set definition for the word as the term has often shifted meanings to correspond to the time period. Feminists fight for the rights that men have under the United States Constitution and to have the right to not be discriminated against. Any action against any woman, intentional or not, goes against the principles that many women and men stand for. The quest for equal rights is usually put into two different waves: the first wave being considered women s suffrage and the second being the equal right movement. One big uprising in feminism happened alongside the abolitionist movement. Many women started to realize that, as they were fighting to get African Americans out of their version of perdition at the hands of their slave owners, that they themselves were slaves to the will of the men in society. Since many women petitioned for antislavery, the Congress in session at the time put forth the gag rule, which placed many of these petitions off to the side for consideration. The feminist movement that is more recognized was started by Betty Friedan. She was the author of The Feminine Mystique, a book that called for many women to enrich themselves from the unnamed problem that left ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Political Philosophy Is The Issue Of Political Obligation One of the central issues in political philosophy is the issue of political obligation. This concerns the presence, the nature and especially the foundation of a particular relationship between government and its citizens. Philosophical Anarchism challenges this relationship. In this endeavor it differs from the position of Political Anarchism, which has as its main goal not only the moral devaluation but also the decline of the state. Conversely, the main method of philosophical anarchism is the rejection of theories that support the political task without necessarily to adopt the position that the state is inevitably evil and it must be abolished. The political authority concerns a grid of exclusive rights on the social life, such as how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main concern of anarchism is that the political limitations are such that create problems as it has to do with the individual freedom and fulfillment. On the one hand, we find our lives to be controlled by political institutions and we take this power for granted. On the other, usually in our lives we want to decide ourselves about major issues that affect us, to be able to make choices and act freely, without the others to decide for us. Then why in the case of the state we consider the control and authority of others over us for granted? The answer is that the states were created in order to serve their citizens. They are good for our lives, destined to make easier and fair the coexistence between us. The states form a scheme that is created by man himself to ameliorate his life. Therefore, they are his choice, a product of the very freedom of man, of his will to govern himself. But this seems to give birth to a paradox; man decided to govern himself because he does not want to be governed. Substantially the paradox is not a paradox. It is only apparently paradoxical. This is because the restrictions are not incompatible with freedom when they derive from it. The appearance of the paradox reflects the idea that the best way to justify the authority and the limitations over people is to demonstrate that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. The Right Side of History Unrest in the Arab World Will the United States be on the right side of history? The Right Side of History? The wave of demonstrations, uprisings and revolutions in North Africa and the Middle East has presented the United States with a complex set of diplomatic problems. While a key component of U.S. foreign policy is promoting and supporting democracy, it is vital to U.S. interests that the Middle East remains relatively stable. A truly democratic Arab world is a new concept, and is one that has yet to show its true colors. If the result of the Palestinian Authority legislative elections held in January of 2006 is any indication of what may evolve in the region, the U.S. has plenty of cause for concern. The elections, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shortly after the protests began in Tunisia, a wave of protests and demonstrations swept over the Arab world, from Algeria to Yemen, with few countries being exempt from the movement. Leaders of wealthier countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain, offered economic concessions to stave off unrest. Other leaders offered minor political concessions. Yet the protests continue. The Egyptian Revolution, which began with protests on January 25, 2011 and lasted for 18 days, became a media sensation watched worldwide. Not only conventional media, but social media as well. Social media played an unprecedented and important role in Egypt, changing the face of revolutions forever. Unlike Tunisia, a marginal actor in the region, Egypt is the most populous, and one could argue, the most important country in the Middle East, at least in terms of maintaining stability. The U.S., which had backed the Egyptian government militarily since 1979 and had friendly relations with Mubarak, was faced with tough diplomatic decisions. Many foreign relations experts agree that the Obama Administration did a reasonable job handling the tricky situation. Once Mubarak stepped down, without the major bloodshed that would have occurred if the military had attack its own people, the U.S. appeared to have been on the right ...
