James created a front cover and double page spread for a magazine. For the front cover, he drew illustrations for faction leaders and their kingdoms, added textures and colors, and arranged the text. For the double page spread, he drew a map showing territories of different races, added names and details, and designed a character concept with stats. He integrated all elements in InDesign to complete the layouts.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2. Front cover Process
• To begin my front cover production
process I began by getting my base
image and placing it in the spot I
needed for in the illustration image
thanks to the help of the move tool
in which I also with the help of the
select and delete tool I was able to
get rid of the unneeded back
ground.
• Next, I drew up a basic new line
image of the character with
modifications to the look to make it
look like a new character entirely
with the help of the pen tool in
which I used the color black for the
main image and light blue for the
crown on his head and so far I am
quite happy with how the process
and design is going.
3. Front cover Process
• Next, I filled in the empty
space in the image with
the help of the paint
bucket tool and pencil tool
and with the character
done I have to say I am
quite happy with it.
• After finishing off the leader
for the human faction I moved
onto the leader for the elf
faction in which I did the same
as I did for the previous image
in which I placed it in the
position I need it to be on the
illustration
4. Front cover Process
• Before I started
drawing over my base
image, I also added a
limit line to where I
would draw down as to
avoid wasting time
drawing something that
no one can see.
In which afterwards I
would do the line
drawing adding
additions the reference
image was missing I did
just like the last one
with the pencil tool.
5. Front cover Process
• After which I would use
the paint bucket tool to
color in the empty spaces
and add a crown with the
use of the selection tools
and pencil tool with that
said I am quite happy with
how the design turned
out and how my project is
progressing so far.
• Next was the orc faction
leader in which I would
import my reference
image.
6. Front cover Process
• Then did a basic line
drawing using the
pencil tool and adding
certain additions like
and earring and a
beard and a one tooth
neckless and taking
away the hair.
• But during coloring
using the paint bucket
tool I used the pencil
tool to draw a ponytail
and the top of his head.
7. Front cover Process
• After finishing the orc
I moved onto the final
faction leader in
which I imported over
the reference image
• Then with the pencil
tool draw a line art
drawing with
modification to the
original image to
create a new one
8. Front cover Process
• Afterwards I colored in
the empty spaces with the
paint bucket tool and so
far, I am quite happy with
how the project is turning
out so far.
• Next, I moved onto doing
each faction leaders
respective kingdom in
which I imported an
image of a valley a drew
over the mountain side
over of the image with
the pencil tool to create a
base.
9. Front cover Process
• Then I added some more
details to the mountain like
slops and formations on the
mountain and added a
glowing doorway near the
top with the pencil and
paint bucket tool and also
during that time I exported
over an image of an elven
forest.
• After finishing the mountain
I began work on the elven
kingdom in which I used the
pencil to create a line
drawing of the base image
then colored in the empty
spaces with the paint bucket
tool.
10. Front cover Process
• Next, I added some
leaves and buildings to
the trees using the
pencil and paint bucket
tool and the cop and
paste command
creating small towns on
the trees.
• I also used the same
command to copy and
past the same tree a
few time to imply a
kingdom putting some
tree’s behind and in
front of others.
11. Front cover Process
• Next, I moved onto
drawing the human
kingdom in which I as
before imported a
base image then drew
a line image of it
using the pencil tool.
• Then I filled in the
empty space in the
line drawing with the
paint bucket tool.
12. Front cover Process
• Next after finishing the human
kingdom I moved onto the orc
kingdom in which I used the
shape tool and drew a circle in
which afterwards I used the
square select tool to select half
of it and use the delete
command to delete half of the
circle then I use the lasso tool to
draw some support beams on
the tent then I used the shape
tool again to draw a door on the
tent.
• Then I selected the tent then
copied it then pasted the tent
seven more times then I used
the lasso tool to draw an area
around the tents then used the
paint bucket tool to fill in the
selected space.
13. Front cover Process
• After finishing the orc
kingdom I brought
back every illustration
I had done so far and
merged them
together.
• Next, I filled in the
empty blank space
with blue using the
paint bucket tool
14. Front cover Process
• Then after that I used
the text tool to add text
to the image then
changed the font to
dream in which after I
tried to draw on a
mother board design
onto it with no success.
• Then I found an image
of a mother board and
made it fill the top area
of my front cover and
place it on top of the
text.
15. Front cover Process
• Then I went to the text
layer and selected
every letter and then
went back to the image
layer and deleted the
space surrounding the
letters leaving behind
image of the mother
board in the shapes of
the letters.
• Then after finishing the
title I did the same for
the slogan of the
magazine.
16. Front cover Process
• Next I use the text tool to
place the issue number in
which afterwards I
changed the font stone
and placed it in the top
right corner and I also
imported an image of a
bar code and placed it in
the bottom right corner.
• After doing that I use the
text tool to write down
the info text and change
the font to dream and
placed it next to the
human king.
17. Front cover Process
• I moved the issue number
text and moved it over on
top of the bar code and
repeated the process I used
for the title and also change
the color for each text.
• I then placed another layer
under each piece of text and
then selected each text then
moved to the under layer
and fill them black and
moved it around a bit to
create a sense of a under
shadow to help people see
the text better
18. Front cover Process
• Next I decide to add more
to the orc leader in which
I used the pencil tool to
draw a boar hood and
skull shoulder pauldron
and used the paint bucket
tool to fill in the empty
spaces.
• I then used the selection
tools to select the dwarf
and moved him upwards
as the orc leader was
covering him up and used
the paint bucket tool to fill
in any empty spaces
19. Front cover Process
• After that I decided to
move the text around
and make it bigger but
also make sure that the
text didn’t cover up any
important details of the
illustration and also
shortened down the
info text with that I'm
quite happy with how
the front cover turned
out.
20. Double page spread process
• To begin my double
page spread I started a
new photoshop
document.
• Then I coloured the
background bague like
the colour you would
find on old maps
21. Double page spread process
• Next, I began work on islands
located on the map by using
the pencil tool to draw a three
contents on the map then
began work on the elven
kingdom part of the map in
which I used the pencil tool to
draw a symbol of a tree.
• Then I copied the image I had
drawn and copied it a few time
then place them around the
original image then merger the
layers together then copied
the new layer two more time
to create a forest
22. Double page spread process
• Next, I added some
more details to my map
like adding rivers going
into the cotenants with
the use of the pencil
and paint bucket tool.
• I also added that image
of a cloud you
sometimes find on old
maps and placed in in
the top right corner.
23. Double page spread process
• With the wind finished I
began work on the dwarf
kingdom in which I drew a
few images of mountains
with the pencil tool and then
used the select and paint
bucket tool to add snow to
the top of the mountains.
• Next, I began work on the
human kingdom on the map
in which I used the shape
tools multiple time to place
down squares rectangle and
triangles until I had a simple
castle design
24. Double page spread process
• After finishing the first
human kingdom I copied
the image I had made and
pasted it on the other
side of the river.
• Next, I decided to fill up
the empty island between
the two main ones in
which I decided to make a
village in which I used the
shape tool to imopert a
square and a tri agngle
then put them together
to create a small house.
25. Double page spread process
• Then I copied the small house I
made and pasted it a few times
and place them near each
other.
• Next, I moved onto giving each
part on the map background
names in which I used the text
box tool to draw out a box and
then wrote down a name in it
then changed the font style to
kelmscott and also used the
warp command to warp the
text around areas of the map
and rotated a few to fit better
within the spaces of the map.
26. Double page spread process
• After finishing the map background
I saved the photoshop file as a jpeg
and exported it over to adobe in
design.
• Then I exported over some text I
had done for my first page on the
double page spread in which I had
a title a description of what was
going on and some questions and
answers from an interviewer and
interviewee in which I changed the
font style for the title to Celtic hand
and changed the color to yellow
and the description to perry gothic
and red and the questions blue and
answers green to perry gothic as
well.
27. Double page spread process
• Next, I moved onto the second
page of my doble page spread in
which I did the title change its font
to Celtic hand and color to yellow,
then I moved onto the plot
summary in which I changed the
font to perry gothic and the color
red and then did the same for the
gameplay synopsis.
• With that done I went over to
photoshop to begin work on a
concept image for the game which
was the concept for one of the
basic units in the combat system in
which I found a basic image of a
knight and imported it over to
photoshop to use as a base for my
own design
28. Double page spread process
• Whilst drawing over my
base image using the
pencil tool I added and
took away certain
features until I had the
final outline design.
• After wards I used the
paint bucket tool to fill
in the empty spaces
29. Double page spread process
• Next, I redrew the face three
more time and added other
details like a beard for one,
hair for another and a
helmet for the final one with
the use of the pencil tool.
• Afterwards I used the text
tool to draw three text box
with one being about
different types of facial hair
the units could have the
second being different
hairstyle the units could
have and the third and final
one being about if a unit
would have a helmet or not.
30. Double page spread process
• After finishing that I drew
another text box in which
I wrote down some base
stats such as speed attack
power health.
• When I was done with
that, I exported over the
finished image over to
InDesign and placed it in
between the plot
overview and game
synopsis.
31. Double page spread process
• After doing that I also
decide to import the front
cover of the magazine
which is also meant to act
as a front cover to the
game however their was
no room left so I had the
size down some of the
text and reorient them by
placing the plot summary
on top of the game
synopsis and placed the
two images between the
introduction and the plot
summary.
