Jordanne Kay reflects on the process of creating her production website. She began by choosing fonts and a color scheme. For the home page, she added her brand identity, name, and a 3D carousel of images. Her about page tells her story and interests. The gallery displays her work through a layout she found. A bio page discusses briefs and inspiration. Contact information and social media links were also included. Finally, she created tutorial videos and a leaflet to distribute her information through multiple formats. Overall, the process took time but she is pleased with representing her brand and work online and in print.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2. PROCESS
I firstly found out if I could import my own fonts on to the website maker WIX as I really
like the font ‘moon flower’ and this is the font I wanted to use for my main titles of each
page such as ‘MIX, FIX & GO’ ‘ABOUT’ etc. I managed to find away on how to import
your own so I knew my website was going to be my own because this is what I wanted.
After I found out how to import my won font I then went on to finding a font I wanted to
use for the rest of my website. I decided to use one of the website builder WIX I have
used the fonts ‘MARZO’ and ‘Bree’.
After I was happy with my fonts I then went on to picking my color scheme and
background, I went with grey and turquoise I picked this background off the WIX website
as this is the closest to grey and not in your face. I have only made my name
‘JORDANNE KAY//’ and the navigation bar when on the page turquoise it just adds a bit
of color as I don’t think I need a massive amount as all the images are brightly colored.
3. PROCESS
For my website I have started to create I
have started off with the home page. I
have started off by placing my brand
identity ’MIX, FIX & GO’ this then allows
my audience to know the name of my
website/brand straight away. I then went
on to adding my name on to the home
page this then allows my audience to know
who I am. I haven’t added in a image yet
as I am still filming and taking images so I
need to make sure it’s the right image. I
did want to add in a slide show on the
home page allowing my audience to see a
variety of images of my work but it wont let
you add one in for the home page so I am
going to try find an alternative or just use
one main images.
o I decided I didn't like the brand identity at the side I thought it
looked better at the top of the website. After I had moved it I
have managed to import a 3D carousel to add on my home page
instead of a slide show this fit well with my brand identity at the
stop. I have added a total of 18 images to this for my audience
to have a look before they go read about me and look closer to
the images. I have also added in social media logos, I am not on
all of these but I am working on it I have made a few. I am
pleased on how my home page has turned out I am so happy
that I have managed to import a 3D carousel to show off my
work as soon as they open my website. to create my home page
it took me about 2-3 hours to import myu pictures, make sure
they all fit well, add in my background and brand identity.
4. PROCESS
After I had got my home page
perfect and how I wanted it I then
went on to create my ‘ABOUT’
page, telling my audience a little
about me and why I love SFX so
much. I firstly put down all the
information I could add in such as
when I grew a interest for SFX,
who I have practised on and what
I would like to do in the future. I
have added in a image of my self
from my prom just to show my
audience who I am and what I
look like if they every did wan any
make up doing.
I think this is a key part of my
website as the audience always
want to know a little bit about the
artist, I can always update this if I
get a job in the SFX industry so
then again I am updating my
audience and telling them more
about me.
I am very pleased of my 'About' page as I have
managed to get all the information about my self
into one place allowing my audience to read about
me and by adding in a image of my self at the top
also allows my audience to know what I look like
in case they ever want me to do work for them.
This page took me a couple of days as i didn't
know what to write at first so i got everything in
bullet points then it allowed me to try put it all
together and make sense.
5. PROCESS
When I first opened this website it just had a normal standard gallery so I went and had a look what the + sign
meant I went on to ‘Gallery’ and found some different layouts for a gallery that I liked, I tried a few different ones
and this is my favorite out of them all, its just a little different to how websites normally show their images and it’s
the one that fits well with the images I have imported.
I will always be able to update the images and import more from the different work that I create to show my
audience that I can create anything they would like me to. I will always try to reach my audiences needs.
I did try to make a ollage of my images like i shows in my layout but i couldnt just import one image so i looked at
the diffrent ways u could import them and this is the one i lke the mos so i had to use this layout for my images.
This took my a day or so to create this as i had to collect all my images i wanted to use and make sure they didngt
cut off part of the look as some did i had to edit themin photoshop and add them back in so you could see the
whole image.
6. PROCESS
On my bio I included different briefs I had
been given to crate different SFX looks, I
have added in images for my audience to
look at what I have created for the different
briefs and I have also included work that I
have just been inspired to do by other SFX
artists.
I have also added in a email system where
anyone viewing y page can email me direct
from my website to my email for them to ask
questions.
I really enjoyed making this page as I got to
talk about the briefs I had been given and
the work I had produced and also what I had
created in my own time to try new products
and different looks. To create this page it
took me a few lessons as I had to gather all
of my images and put them into the right
brief and then I had to write up the different
briefs then I could put it all together, it took
me a few hours' messing around with
different layouts on how it could all fit
together and so it didn’t look to crowed.
7. PROCESS
I have created a YouTube, Instagram and email
for my website all of these do work and are
assessable and I will update them constantly
with new images and videos for my audience to
view. I have also added in my number and my
online portfolio (blogger) for my audience to get
in contact and to look at my work over the past
year this then gives them a view on what I am
capable of doing and can ask more questions
about my work if they feel like they need more
information.
I felt like this was a very important page I
needed to add in as with out a contacts page
no-one who wishes to get in contact with me for
what ever reason won't be able to. This took
me 3 days as I made a YouTube account, a
Email and a Instagram account so that
everything can actually work and my audience
can go and look on the different social media
sites to see my work.
8. PROCESS
I have also created a leaflet that I can hand out to people who may not use the internet, I have
included some of the information that is on my website such as my about and contacts, these are the
main part of my leaflet I have also included a selection of images that I have created so that my
audience gets a look of the work I have done this then will be the decider if they want me to do work
for them as I they already have a idea of what I have done and what I am capable of creating.
I am very happy with the outcome of this leaflet, I have made my leaflet like a little booklet so when
you open it is slowly reveilles more about me and my work I like this idea and I got this idea from my
creative CV which also reveilles information about me and my grades etc. this took me about a week
to create as I tried loads of different ideas and all of the information in different ways and I printed them
out to see which I liked the most when I could see it visually and this is the one that stood out the most
as the other ones had different colored writing making it hard to read when printed and the information
was to spread out.
9. PROCESS
I firstly started off with added in the video I had took of me creating a look on a model and watched it through, I
then had a think about how I wanted the video to be so I could start editing, I added in my logo at the beginning
of the video to allow my audience to recognize who's tutorial video this is.
I then started to edit the video and I wanted to speed up certain parts of the video up where I just repeat the
same thing over again other wise the video would be very long and the audience would get tired of watching the
video I have managed to get the original video down from 15 minutes to around 6 minutes it still shows the
audience the basics on how to create the looks but I have made certain parts faster so its not long to watch but
still gets all the important parts across. I have also added in effects on the video going from the different stages
so it runs a little bit smoother and doesn't look like its jumping from one step to the other.
I have then added in still images at the end of the video as when I was recording it stopped recording right at the
end so it just misses the end part, but by added in the images the audience can see how it is meant to look like.
After I had made the video correct and got it how I wanted it I then went on to finding music to put on the video I
picked just a remix of all the music from the year just to play quietly in the background to brake the silence I then
went on to putting text on to the video telling them the different steps as I didn't want to do a voice over and
didn't have time to do one.
I have gone on to using the same video I have in my first video but I am trying to do it in reverse so it looks like I
am taking the make up off.
I first turned the video in to ‘Reverse’ then put the speed up to ‘250%’ but it wouldn’t play and was very jumpy. I
tried rendering the video with no sound and when I came to it the next day it hadn’t saved so I did the same
again and it still wouldn’t save the rendered video. So I just had to export the video with out rendering it to see if
it worked, it did work and it ran fine the only thing it I wasn’t able to add images of the final look.
Over all I am very please with both tutorial videos they both roughly took me about a week to produce as I had a
few problems on the way that put me back a few steps but I managed to get it all don’t and in on time. I really
like the reverse video as it just looks like I am taking the make up off the model but it still shows my audience
how you can apply the make up.
