EXISTING PRODUCT
o In this website they have used what looks like just one or two models that look very similar to each other, they
are both showing off the products and posing with the products to connote what the website is all about showing
the audience straight away what they are about.
o The colours they have used for the website itself are white, black and yellow this colour scheme is very simple
this allows the models in there brightly colours clothing and make up to stand out n the white website. The
models are dressed in all sorts of different colours from yellows, blues, purples and black they is no match in
what they are wearing but this connotes the type of people they are happy and original.
o The language used on the website is normally found on any website to navigate the audience in the right
direction. The scroll bar denotes the direction that the user can navigate through the website. For example
‘HOME’ we all know that this takes us straight the the home page on the website along with ‘gallery’ ‘bio’ we
know what information we are going to get when we click on these tabs.
EXISTING PRODUCT
o On this website they are no models used they just show the different products that they sell. This
then shoes the audience all the different products but doesn’t show anyone using the products. The
colour scheme used for this website is white, black and purple but then on the different brands they
have their own unique colours that their audience recognizes.
o The fonts connote the different brands as they all have different fonts the website doesn’t just sick to
one font as it allows you to look at a variety of well known brands. The language used in this website
is very similar to other websites in the way they denote the direction that the user can navigation bar.
EXISTING PRODUCT
o This poster is both aimed at female and male, as we can see
that the hands are male as well as female this then opens the
target audience to all genders, this also shows that it takes a lot
of time and effort to create these amazing looks. By showing
people creating this look it is showing off the products that are
been used getting the products on display. I think also one half
of the face loses the gender identity when they have all of the
special effects make up on, the only reason we know it’s a
female because of the other side of the face. I like how they
have shows two different sides of a person it shows that a
person can change at anytime and from the direct eye contact
she is making with the audience connotes a bit of attitude. I think
that the way they have placed ‘FACE OFF’ like it has been cut in
half like the females face. Where the ‘FACE’ is placed on the
special effects half side of the females face its like it is telling
you to be your true self don’t cover up the true you (on the left)
where as ‘OFF’ is where she’s just been natural and showing
what everyone expects to see.
o The colours used in this poster is different to what you would
expect to see on a female model ad they are using the colours
that people stereotype to a male, blues and greens. This
connotes that just because she is a girl doesn’t mean she’s
going to follow the crowd and be the stereotypical girl.
o The fonts used are all similar they is no big difference in the
fonts that they have picked they fit in with both genders making
this poster for both female and male. The language they have
used in this poster you would expect to see such as a heading
and tagline these are just two of the common conventions of a
poster you would expect to see as it gives you information about
what's going on in the poster.
EXISTING PRODUCT
o This 1990’s make up poster is very similar to
the posters now in 2017. This poster has kept
the main image of the model separate from the
background leaving the background in a neutral
colour they have then placed the products
around the model this then shows the target
audience what the have used. The model is
giving the audience direct eye contact to the
audience making a connection.
o The colours they have used stand out on the
models face as the model is very pale and white
commutating that she is pure with the bright
colours of make up on her eyes and
surrounding her.
o The language used shows the common
convention of what you would expect to see on
a posted such as headline, subtitle and a little
bit of information at the bottom of the poster.
RESEARCH ANALYSIS
 What common features do the researched products have?
 The common conventions that my research includes is how they all place the masthead in
the middle of the page either at the top of the page of to the side this then shows me that
this is where the audience will look for the name of my brand.
 I really like the idea of the face-off poster how they have created two different people out of
one person this has given me a idea for my logo to create a person with two different types
of make up.
 They all have the same target audience suggesting that SFX is mainly aimed at this
audience and gender.
 The purpose is to inform the audience what SFX is all about just by using a image and a
few words shows us what make up can do and create.
 What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
 In my products I will include the simple colour schemes that fit in with everything else on
the website just by using whites, blacks and greys you can include anything else on the
website with out it all clashing. I will also include information about my self on the website
including details to get in contact with me. I will also try the idea of half a face look for my
logo I will also try to create a SFX look that is similar if I can.
 A few things I may try is to try create a SFX look including flowers as a existing product I
have chosen includes flowers and the flowers suggests how shy the girl is by using pastel
colours to surround her pale face this suggests to me you can use flowers in anyway to put
across any type of feelings you just need to right colours flowers, and background. Another
thing I would like to try is to try create a half face look as well as use this for my logo, I may
even be able to create the look and use the same look for my logo so I can say I have
created the look on my face.

like that all SFX makeup is unique and it can show off very different and individual
talent and styles

tutorials are very good as they allow you to see the work in real time as they
narrate and discuss strategies and products. You can also pause and replay the
content often to understand.
 What would you expect to see on a SFX website and why? Tutorial
videos, visual illustrations of designs, a bio about the artist and a range of different
looks and work.
 What other ways do you think would be a great way to advertise and why?
Online banners for social media, twitter accounts with the links to the website and
maybe flyers to hand out at events.
INTERVIEW 1
 Observation: I can see that the most popular thing is tutorial
videos this tells me that the audence i am aiming my website as are
young as they all know how to watch other tutorial videos I can see
from the interviews that they want to see specific skills and talents I
am capable of. They have said they like the ‘bizarre’ looks this to me
is a wide range of SFX looks and the different genres it can fit in to
from horror to fairy tail in fits into them all this suggests to me that
they would like to see my skills through a wide range of looks.
 What this says about my audience: That they like to see
visually how and what to do again this tells me that the age range i

when done properly
 What do you like most about special effects make up?
I like SFX when its used in TV programmes and its done really well.
 What do you think is the best way to show my work?
The best way for you to show your work is through a video of you applying
the make up, because then people can see for themselves how its done
and applied.
 What would you expect to see on a SFX website and why?
I would expect to see a section on the website where you can maybe buy
the products you use, then people could practice what your doing at home.
 What other ways do you think would be a great way to advertise
and why?
I think another way that would be good for you to advertise would be

Age Range
15-24 • I will make sure that everything is suitable for
this age range, I will use models between this

give me more of a chance to get across my
tutorial videos and information about my
website etc.
Gender
Female • I will make sure that the models are females

exclude or eliminate any styles or looks to not
suit a male model to keep my secondary

challenge such as ranges of difficulties of skill
in my tutorials so they have to push

RESEARCH EVALUATION
RESEARCH EVALUATION
 Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss
the strengths and weaknesses of each method
 Product Research
The strengths for product research would have to be seeing existing products and been
able to get different ideas from them to then expand on your original idea.
The weakness for product research would have to be finding the existing products, but
once I have found them and had help off other people I managed to gather loads of
information to help me with my final product.
 Questionnaires
The strengths of making a questionnaire would be been able to find out what your
audience is interested in and what they would like to see included in the product.
The weakness of making a questionnaire would be trying to think of the right questions to
ask so you get the answers you need to create the best final product you want.
 Interviews
The strengths of the interviews is I am able to find out more information that I need to
know about my audience and their views on the product I am going to create.
The weakness of the interview is you cant always think of what you want to know to make
making the product easier.
RESEARCH EVALUATION
 What sort of a response did you get?
From the survey my responses were all very similar, with age, gender,
what they like etc. this then told me that I have reached the same
audience and that this is the audience I need to aim my product to.
This helped me then to know what to ask in the interview to what I
need a little more information on to create my product.
 How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a
disadvantage
The way I distributed my survey was through social media and black
board, I knew my primary audience would be the people in my class
had a say so I knew that my age range would be answering the
questionnaire this is an advantage as then I knew that I was going to
get responses from my age range. After I knew I would have a selection
of people answering my questionnaire I thought about my secondary
audience I then give the link out on face book to my friends not in
college and family this then gave me more responses at a wider rang of
people.

If I include a wide range it opens my audience and it also shows my audience what else can be done with SFX.

RESEARCH EVALUATION  Givean overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method  Product Research The strengths for product research would have to be seeing existing products and been able to get different ideas from them to then expand on your original idea. The weakness for product research would have to be finding the existing products, but once I have found them and had help off other people I managed to gather loads of information to help me with my final product.  Questionnaires The strengths of making a questionnaire would be been able to find out what your audience is interested in and what they would like to see included in the product. The weakness of making a questionnaire would be trying to think of the right questions to ask so you get the answers you need to create the best final product you want.  Interviews The strengths of the interviews is I am able to find out more information that I need to know about my audience and their views on the product I am going to create. The weakness of the interview is you cant always think of what you want to know to make making the product easier.

RESEARCH EVALUATION  Whatsort of a response did you get? From the survey my responses were all very similar, with age, gender, what they like etc. this then told me that I have reached the same audience and that this is the audience I need to aim my product to. This helped me then to know what to ask in the interview to what I need a little more information on to create my product.  How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage The way I distributed my survey was through social media and black board, I knew my primary audience would be the people in my class had a say so I knew that my age range would be answering the questionnaire this is an advantage as then I knew that I was going to get responses from my age range. After I knew I would have a selection of people answering my questionnaire I thought about my secondary audience I then give the link out on face book to my friends not in college and family this then gave me more responses at a wider rang of people.
