A. COURSE DESCRIPTION

world insights into these topics and be able to apply ethical and legal principles effectively in
their professional practice.
B. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Students will gain a solid understanding of the basic principles and historical evolution of medical
law and ethics. They will be able to differentiate between the two and appreciate their significance
in healthcare.
2. The course aims to help students comprehend the four principles of medical ethics - Autonomy,
Beneficence, Non-maleficence, and Justice, and their application in healthcare decision-making.
3. Learners will explore how medical laws impact patient care and learn about the legal implications
of medical malpractice and the importance of informed consent.
4. The course will guide students through the various rights and responsibilities patients have and
how these affect medical practice.
5. The final objective is for students to be able to identify and analyze the ethical and legal dilemmas
arising from technological advancements in healthcare and end-of-life care decisions
