How does your media product represent
           social groups?

My product is aimed at older teenagers and young adults aged between16 and 24. Targeted at both males and females.
The social group for my magazine would be working/middle class. This because at this age when you start college,
students start experimenting with different kinds of alternative styles and music, which this magazine addresses. Also the
magazine is aimed at young adults because some adults would of grown up with the Beatles and idolized other Rock
and Roll singers/bands who inspired them or other around them. This magazine offers them the new, modern day
versions of the classic rockers. It is aimed at people who are experimenting with their more rebellious other side. Other
people who have been targeted by this magazine are people facing the difficulties of recession, or they could be inclined
to purchase the magazine through informational social influence (where the individual doesn’t know what style of music
influences them so they copy the majority view of style) ,These people are resorting to emotional music that fits in with
their situation or feelings. The artists that I have included in my magazine approach the target audience with their
emotive, hard core styles.

Rock and Roll portrays corrupt behavior, there are stereotypes associated with Rock and Roll like heavy drinking, drugs,
parties and living in the fast lane (stereotypically). When the audience sees the magazine they will automatically know
who the intended audience is and there will be no confusion. The stereotypical person who will be interested in my
magazine would be someone who is rebellious, wears black clothes to represent darkness, excessive metal, chains,
spikes and studs. This instills fear and apprehension as these people are associated with violence and aggression, as
they do not conform to the norms of society. The middle image and the the right hand side image represent what Rock
Which media institution might distribute
    your media product and why?
There are many media institutions , we where given the task to look at IPC and Bauer. The one that I would choose
to distribute my magazine would be IPC because the Market force is the UK's leading news trade sales and
distribution company, successfully marketing 23% of the total magazine category. Its portfolio of 38 brands covers a
huge spectrum of interests and includes famous names from Country Life and The Field and NME. Also NME is the
magazine that I used and took inspiration from for some of the features I used. They also have offices all around
the world e.g. Cyprus, India, Thailand , South Africa, US, Turkey, Germany and many other countries which means
they will have larger distribution, this means a larger audience would read, purchase and benefit from my
 magazine.

I would distribute my magazine to IPC as they are very successful and they employ thirteen thousand people. I also
think that IPC would create a niche (a space in the market for my magazine) because they would like to broaden
their ages of audiences like young adults. Also their headquarters is in London, which benefits me as I could book
a meeting with them to discuss my magazine quickly and easily. Also they could promote my magazine on their
website because their websites collectively reach over 20 million users every month.

I chose IPC because they are well known and they have many partners which relate to me as they distribute NME.
IPC know what they are looking for in a magazine and they have a insight in the music industry. Their teams are
experienced and knowledgeable, working across all brands, from specialist magazines to broader consumer ones.
Their partners are in all continents, ranging from large multinationals to publishers focused on specific terror ties
and market segments. They take pride in helping partners execute in their markets and in using there content in
different ways, for example; on television, advertising campaigns and special editions.

They also do a really good deal for amateurs as they state if you have an idea or a website and they might be
interested in any or all of your magazines and the individual might be able to earn commission as an IPC Affiliate.
This would be good for work experience and it will look good on individuals curriculum vitae.

  • 1. How does your media product represent social groups? My product is aimed at older teenagers and young adults aged between16 and 24. Targeted at both males and females. The social group for my magazine would be working/middle class. This because at this age when you start college, students start experimenting with different kinds of alternative styles and music, which this magazine addresses. Also the magazine is aimed at young adults because some adults would of grown up with the Beatles and idolized other Rock and Roll singers/bands who inspired them or other around them. This magazine offers them the new, modern day versions of the classic rockers. It is aimed at people who are experimenting with their more rebellious other side. Other people who have been targeted by this magazine are people facing the difficulties of recession, or they could be inclined to purchase the magazine through informational social influence (where the individual doesn’t know what style of music influences them so they copy the majority view of style) ,These people are resorting to emotional music that fits in with their situation or feelings. The artists that I have included in my magazine approach the target audience with their emotive, hard core styles. Rock and Roll portrays corrupt behavior, there are stereotypes associated with Rock and Roll like heavy drinking, drugs, parties and living in the fast lane (stereotypically). When the audience sees the magazine they will automatically know who the intended audience is and there will be no confusion. The stereotypical person who will be interested in my magazine would be someone who is rebellious, wears black clothes to represent darkness, excessive metal, chains, spikes and studs. This instills fear and apprehension as these people are associated with violence and aggression, as they do not conform to the norms of society. The middle image and the the right hand side image represent what Rock

Also NME is the magazine that I used and took inspiration from for some of the features I used. They also have offices all around the world e.g. Cyprus, India, Thailand , South Africa, US, Turkey, Germany and many other countries which means they will have larger distribution, this means a larger audience would read, purchase and benefit from my magazine. I would distribute my magazine to IPC as they are very successful and they employ thirteen thousand people. I also think that IPC would create a niche (a space in the market for my magazine) because they would like to broaden their ages of audiences like young adults. Also their headquarters is in London, which benefits me as I could book a meeting with them to discuss my magazine quickly and easily. Also they could promote my magazine on their website because their websites collectively reach over 20 million users every month. I chose IPC because they are well known and they have many partners which relate to me as they distribute NME. IPC know what they are looking for in a magazine and they have a insight in the music industry. Their teams are experienced and knowledgeable, working across all brands, from specialist magazines to broader consumer ones. Their partners are in all continents, ranging from large multinationals to publishers focused on specific terror ties and market segments. They take pride in helping partners execute in their markets and in using there content in different ways, for example; on television, advertising campaigns and special editions. They also do a really good deal for amateurs as they state if you have an idea or a website and they might be interested in any or all of your magazines and the individual might be able to earn commission as an IPC Affiliate. This would be good for work experience and it will look good on individuals curriculum vitae.
