Application Of Counselor Competence For Person Centered...
Conceptualization
This reliability study was designed to test the inter rater reliability of a newly developed measure of
counselor competence for person centered and experiential psychotherapy techniques. Developed by
the authors in hopes of improving counselor training and supervision outcomes for therapists
specializing in a person centered approach, the Person Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale
(PCEPS) is a rating scale containing two sub scales (the person centered subscale and experiential
subscale) with which trained observers can rate the adherence and competence of therapists to a
person centered approach. The aim of this study was to investigate whether inter rater agreement
existed in ratings of therapists on the Person Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale (PCEPS).
The procedure for conducting this reliability study was based upon the procedures followed in existing
research to validate other scales related to person centered therapy competency. Truax and Carkhuff s
(1967) Scales for Therapist Accurate Empathy, Nonpossessive Warmth, and Genuineness were created
to measure therapist traits and competencies through live observations or recordings of therapy
sessions. Waltz et al. (1993) further advised that therapy sessions of practitioners be recorded so as to
facilitate treatment integrity checks. This has been used most notably in investigations of Rogerian
therapeutic relationships (examining empathy, unconditional positive regard, and

The Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong Analysis
Mary Anne slipped through the Jungle weaving in and out of the thick vegetation, her fellow Green
Berets appearing as a shadow behind her. She was dressed in a pink sweater which was a stark
contrast to her machine gun and her character. Her movements were just as graceful as before but no
longer for the simple purpose of appearing feminine. Her elegance was displayed in the way she
moved, deliberately and silently, her whole body poised to strike down the enemy at the soonest
opportunity. Mary Anne occasionally thought back to when she first arrived in Vietnam. She had
wanted to get married and live in house by a lake with a husband and three kids. She had her whole
life planned out in just the way that everyone told her it should be. Three ... Show more content on

Mary Anne talks about the war in a positive light saying that when she is fighting is the only time she
knows who she truly is. However, the author compares Mary Anne s relationship to war as being
similar to a drug addiction. She has lost perspective on who she really is and only those around her
can see her true self. In my story Mary Anne is described as having a longing for the fight which turns
into an overwhelming urge to risk what is left of her life . This parallels the Song of the Tra Bong in
its description of the drug like effect of war on Mary Anne. She consistently uses the phrase It s not
bad to describe her transformation. It is like she is trying to convince herself that who she has become
is okay and that there is no problem with what she is doing. This is not that different from the way a
drug addict might try to find a justification for their behavior or at least understate its

The Effects Of Social Media On Society
The Effects of Social Media Social media is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as Forms of
online communication, through which users create online communities to share information, ideas,
personal messages, and other content (Merriam Webster). Social media, if used responsibly, is a great
way for users to connect with the outside world in ways never before imagined. Such forms of
communication have been able to connect millions of people from around the world and put them
right at a user s fingertips. This technology has nudged its way into the computers, smart phones, and
hearts of millions of people around the world over the past decade, but at what cost? Although a great
way for friends and relatives to reconnect, social media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, social networking sites take advantage of their ability to monitor users, so they tweak algorithms
on pages to see the user responses and then store the data to use for new ways to keep users online.
Social Networking and Relationships Social networking sites contain a branch of other networking
sites, simply called dating sites, which are used for finding one s soul mate or future significant other.
These sites are designed to connect people of opposite sexual representation with the person he or she
is interested in. Sites like these are good at matching users with their desired counterparts. Aside from
these sites, regular social networking sites, initially designated for everyone, have been found to
perform the exact opposite from dating sites and put strain on already formed relationships. The article
entitled Reading romance: the impact Facebook rituals can have on a romantic relationship , published
by the Journal of Comparative Research in Anthropology and Society, it is stated, The design and
features of Facebook can have an emotional impact on its users and the format of online presentation
can intensify feelings of possession and jealousy in an intimate relationship (Bowe 73). This research
suggests that users in relationships which include the use of social media by one or both of the
partners could cause conflict and feelings of jealousy or mistrust. Not only does a social medium such

President Andrew Jackson Essay
President AJ Andrew Jackson was born in 1767, and grew up in the border of North and South
Carolina. He attended frontier schools and acquired the reputation of being fiery tempered and willing
to fight all comers. He also learned to read, and he was often called on by the community to read
aloud the news from the Philadelphia papers.
In 1775, with the beginning of the American Revolution, Andrew Jackson, then only 13 years old
became an orderly and messenger. He took part in the Battle of Hanging Rock against the British and
in a few small skirmishes with British sympathizers known as Loyalists or Tories. His brother Hugh
was killed, and when the British raided Waxhaw, both he and Robert were captured. Because Jackson

After one year in the, Jackson moved to the Senate, the other chamber of the Congress of the United
States. He served from September 1797 to April 1798 and then retired to private life.
During the years of 1804 to 1812, Jackson settled, with his wife in his home retiring indefinately.
Although Jackson was active in local politics, he took little interest in national affairs. The one
exception was his brief involvement with the so called Burr conspiracy. Former Vice President Aaron
Burr, determined to restore his personal fortunes, convinced Jackson that he had government backing
to lead a filibustering expedition into Mexico. Jackson agreed to build him some boats, but when he
realized that Burr and his group were acting entirely on their own, he immediately dropped his
connection with the scheme. Jackson s hot temper involved him in a number of feuds and duels. Many
of them were caused by remarks made about his marriage. The duel with Charles Dickinson in 1806
stands out as an example of Jackson s characteristic refusal even to acknowledge the possibility of
defeat. Jackson let his opponent fire first, because Dickinson was a faster and better shot. Allowing
himself time to take deliberate aim, Jackson planned to kill his man with a single bullet, even if he had
shot me through the brain. Thus, Jackson took a bullet in the chest and, without flinching, calmly
killed his man. Jackson was also

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Analysis
Motives are the most common source of an outcome, leading individuals to every action that occurs.
Every decision made by an individual is influenced by some sort of motive, whether it is
physiological, social, or personal. Ken Kesey presents to the reader the inspiration behind the
characters course of action in the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, resulting in the change of
heart from Dr.Spivey and Randle McMurphy. The impact from other individuals often alters the
reasoning for an action. Doctor Spivey originally supported Nurse Ratched s actions, but Mcmurphy
influenced him to make decisions based on the needs and wants of the patients. Mcmurphy inspires
the men to voice their opinion and builds their confidence up, so that they can take on the Nurse.
Nurse Ratched does not agree with the men, so she does everything in her power to eliminate the men
s masculinity in order for her to keep the ward running like she desires. Doctor Spivey is easily
persuaded by other individuals when it comes to choosing a side. In the beginning of the novel, Doctor
Spivey agrees with the Nurse because of his tendency to be easily manipulated and because of the
consequences that may come about if he were to disagree with her plan of action. Doctor Spivey s
masculinity was stripped by Nurse Ratched along with the other patients. Once Mcmurphy is admitted
to the ward the Doctor begins to see how the ward is ran through a different perspective, and he starts
to stand up for the men instead of lurking in the shadows of Nurse Ratched. Doctor Spivey has a
discussion with Mcmurphy about the music; they make a plan to make the patients happy. During the
meeting Doctor Spivey tells the men that the day room will have the music turned up for the chronics
and the acutes can go to another room where there will be no music. Unlike the Nurse, Doctor Spivey
is willing to change the routine up, and accommodate both the needs and wants of all the patients.
This action also presents to the reader that being influenced by others isn t always bad, it just means
that you are listening to others opinions. The turning point in the novel is when the Doctor decides to
go on the fishing trip with the men. The inspiration for this decision

IS, LM model and explanations(in the form of an essay).
Essay topic1.
Introduction:
During the years after World War II, the development of the IS LM model took several directions.
Probably, the most prominent ideas on that theory were expressed in the work of John Hicks called
Mr. Keynes and the Classics . The model expressed in the article was largely based on the works of
John Maynard Keynes and became a widely accepted as the alternative framework to standard
Keynesian analysis. The IS LM model is a way of modelling equilibrium in the economy by looking
at equilibrium in the goods and services markets (the IS curve) and equilibrium in the money markets
(LM curve). Where both these markets are in equilibrium will be the equilibrium level of income. The
IS LM model looks at income against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the amount of income from Y`1 to Y1 will be anattainable because of outcrowding of the
private sector by the public sector investment (shaded area).
The degree of crowding out depends on severeal factors. One of them is the extent of multiplier effect.
Multiplier effect occurs when increase in investment or any other autonomous expenditure leads to
even greater increase in income. For example, it may become widely believed that the MPC
(Monetary Policy Committee) is going to reduce the rate of interest. In that case, number of leackages
in the economy in the form of savings is likely to decline and consumption to increase. This will result
in the larger propensity to consume for every marginal unit of income. Increase in consumption should
lead to increase in investment and more flatter IS curve (see figure 3), which will mean greater degree
of crowding out.

There are other factors influencing the extent of crowding out effect. Effectivness of fiscal policy also
depends on the elasticities of IS and LM schedules. If investment is relatively sensetive to the changes
in the rate of interest, than for any change in interest rate there will relatively big change in investment
and correspondingly equilibrium rate of output. In that case the IS curve will be relatively interest
elastic and flatter. If the IS curve is

The Seven Years War
With the Seven Years War (French and Indian War) complete, the British thought they would be at
peace. The common thought was to prosper from the colonies by making them pay certain taxes based
on products they imported or even exported. The American colonists and British policymakers were
having major disagreements in the period of 1763 1776. The taxed colonists were resenting the British
Parliament and started small protests in the area. The common disagreements were over the levied
taxes, which started with the sugar, currency and stamp act, followed by the Townshend Duties and
then the Tea Act which tipped the scales making most despise the British Parliament s actions. This
turned some of the colonists against the British which then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

imports of specific items that would be taxed. This finally led to the Boston Tea Party in 1773. A few
dozen colonists dressed as Native Americans, and protected by some other colonists, boarded ships in
Boston Harbor and began throwing barrels of tea overboard in protest to the taxes. After this, the port
of Boston was closed by Parliament. The news made it to other colonies up and down the eastern
seaboard and the colonists started to respond. There was a tension in the air that was unmatched, and
the colonists were preparing to fight. The British believed they had the upper hand, although many of
the so called governors were not in the colonies to prepare themselves for what was to

The Importance Of Legal Permanence For Children In Foster...
For nearly four decades, child welfare policy and practice have focused on the achievement of legal
permanence for children in foster care. We are now at a crossroads in advancing our understanding of
a 21st century child welfare system. As this paper will detail, we are now at a point where there are 2.8
children living in federally funded Title IV E adoptive and guardianship homes for every child living
in Title IV E subsidized foster care. In the United States, when a child or youth achieves legal
permanence through adoption or guardianship, legal custody of the child is transferred from the state
to adoptive parents or guardians. When children are adopted, parental rights are terminated whereas in
cases of guardianship, parental rights may or may not be terminated. ... Show more content on

Topicality In No Greater Love By Danielle Steel
INTRODUCTION
Topicality of the subject. One of the necessitating topicalities of this research is to show how a person
can take a heavy responsibility on his or her shoulders, making her bend but not break. No Greater
Love is a historical fiction that touches the theme of love, loyalty and how a person s life can change
in a night, the novel is also partly of Titanic disaster which happened in 1912. Many writers addressed
this theme and many had gained success. But Danielle Steel, the author of No Greater Love could
reveal the deepest feelings hidden in one s soul. This novel portrays us the life that is very real, it
describes young Edwina s love, loss, loyalty, sorrows, responsibility. She is strong, at the same time
fragile. These, of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second chapter deals with the analysis of the characters of the novel, the second sub chapter of the
second chapter is about Titanic.
In the letters written by Danielle Steel is said about the novel and mostly about its genre.
We see that No Greater Love shows the facts of real life, such as Titanic disaster and First World War.
Actually, the novel in itself is very real, because some parts of the story are very similar to the
fragments of our own lives. The story has educating aspects, one can find consolation while reading.
Because all the viewpoints of the truth are depicted there. This is a story about Edwina s life, but in
the face of Edwina, Danielle Steel described all of our lives. No Greater Love is a consolation for
those who met with loss, who experienced disasters and wars. This is a support for those who
sacrificed their own happiness. If you lost somebody it doesn t mean world s stopped revolving, life
goes on and you must learn to live somehow. At last, No Greater Love is a story about life lesson, it is
a work for everybody and I m sure you will enjoy of

Intergenerational Mobility
When most people (here in the US or anywhere else in the world) hear or talk about the United States,
a common theme is living the America Dream . The American Dream is the idea that children will
have a higher standard of living than their parents and in 1940, 92 percent of them did. But by 1980
that number decreased to 50 percent, in terms of absolute mobility. The term successful is a universal
term and applies different for every single individual because everyone has different levels of success,
some are higher then others and there can be some barriers in the way. There are many stories and
evidence that have proven this theme but in the fine details there are many other things that come into
play when it comes to becoming successful . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when a student wants to attend college after high school, the chances of going to any school
of his or her choice can seem unfair and have unequal opportunity to other peers. Unfortunately the
idea of being limited to attending certain schools has a big influence in chances of becoming
successful. Even though higher educations seems to have a direct path for high wages, the access to
college can have reverse effects on intergenerational mobility. By limiting access from someone in a
bottom percentile to have the possibility to attend a good college harms their upward mobility. In
efforts to help breakdown an understanding of how education affects intergenerational mobility, a
study called Mobility reports cards show significant findings. Mobility reports cards were conducted
by collecting administrative data from more then thirty million college students in the years of 1999
2013. We obtain rosters of attendance at all Title IV accredited institutions of higher education in the

Oscar Wilde Satire
Oscar Wilde s play An Ideal Husband (1893) is of a genre that is unlikely to ever fade out; the
dramatic comedy. Wilde utilises melodramatic language to explore several heavy subjects such as
compassion and empathy but there is no doubting that the play is of the romantic comedy genre. And
this is concreted by the fact that this is a play that not only comments on society but makes comedy of
people s faults and bad habits via the employment of the comedic conventions satire. Oscar Wilde
effectively blends these comedic devices into the play s melodramatic drawing room comedy , which
traditionally features upper class people in social and family situations of which Wilde was considered
a master, to provoke thought on different societal subjects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mabel epitomises the supposed silliness and frivolity that a young Victorian girl would have and this
is further encouraged by Wilde s use of epigram and absurdity in the line Oh, I love London Society! I

Just what Society should be. showing the shallow and flamboyant nature of Mabel s character to

them more attractive and also shows how women were forced to settle for men they may not

Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial Personality Disorder is a psychological disorder in which an individual s way of thinking
and way of relating to others is dysfunctional and destructive. People with antisocial personality
disorder usually have no regard for right and wrong and often disregard the rights and feelings of
others (Mayo Clinic 1). They tend to antagonize and manipulate others for pleasure or personal benefit
and often violate the law and end up in trouble most of the time, but show no remorse or regret for
their actions. Some examples of the type of people with this disorder can include serial killers and
politicians.
Antisocial Personality Disorder symptoms may begin in childhood and become fully evident for most
people during their 20s and 30s. In children, cruelty to animals, bullying behavior, social isolation, and
poor school performance may be early signs of the disorder. Most of the people diagnosed with
antisocial personality disorder show symptoms that violate the rights of others. The Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) states all the possible symptoms of the disorder:
These individuals tend to fail to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors by
performing acts that result in arrest. They are also masters of deception because they lie repeatedly by
using aliases or by conning others for personal profit or pleasure. They rarely plan and act on impulse
when they perform their actions. They also become very irritable and aggressive,

Too Much to Bear in The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien
Too Much to Bear The things I carry are both figurative and literal. I carry a pen, a pencil, a textbook
or two, and paper. I carry memories, experiences, pain, guilt, cowardice, love and happiness. In the
novel The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien, O Brien centralizes on why people carry what they
do, physical or not. To be honest, I carry what I do because I must. If I don t carry that one textbook
that one day, I ll regret it. If I forget what it was like have my first icecream cone, what if felt like the
instant my mouth froze up and the inside of my head pounded so loudly I almost screamed, I will be
less of who I am today. What I carry defines me. In the novel, the tangible and intangible loads the
soldiers carry define them; such as Lt. Cross s who carry s a picture of and intangible feelings for
Martha. What the soldiers burdened themselves with was largely determined, emotionally or
physically, was by necessity. The tangible objects depicted in the book are especially relevant. The
author s style of writing is very elaborate only because he wants the readers to discern sympathy
towards the soldiers. The author tells us about the weight of the objects each of the soldiers carry to
supplement our overall total lasting impression. O Brien says in the first chapter, he recounts the literal
objects each soldier carried. As PFCs or Spec 4s, most of them were common grunts and carried the
standard M 16 gas operated assault rifle. The weapon weighed 7.5 pounds

Agency in Punishment and Hedda Gabler.
In Rabindranath Tagore s short story Punishment, Chandara, an 18 year old lower caste woman in
India, seeks her freedom from cultural and familial oppression by allowing herself to be executed. In
Henrik Ibsen s play Hedda Gabler, the protagonist, an aristocratic woman from prosperous 19th
century Norway, asserts her freedom from societal oppression by killing herself.
Considering the socio economic and cultural differences of these female characters, how could their
ends be so similar? In this essay, we ll discuss why these late 19th century, early 20th century authors
chose to make suicide, or the desire for death (or other drastic behavior), agency for their female
characters in these two texts. We ll do this by analyzing the feminist themes of Tagore and Ibsen, in
light of the realist/naturalist literary movement at the time; as well as discussing the ways the authors
allow for autonomy with their characters as well as the ways they restrict their options in these works.
Tagore and Ibsen shared similar literary and philosophical ideas, which helps to explain their
realistically conflicted oppressed, yet courageously challenging female characters. Naturalism/realism
was the dominant literary trend in the late 19th century, and Tagore and Ibsen featured elements of
realism and naturalism in their work. Their stories and plays contained ordinary people in realistic
seeming scenarios realism

types of commercials shown during these programs in order to have much of a comparison, but there
was enough alike about them to dissect them and really figure out the methods which broadcasting
companies use in order to attract their buyers and consumers. For every television channel I have ever
watched throughout my life the commercials have always been significantly louder than the actual
show I am viewing; not just for these two channels, but I did notice it more when actually having to
pay attention. Why does this annoying thing constantly happen every channel I choose to watch? The
answer to this question: marketing purposes. It is in the companies best interest on becoming
successful with the product they are attempting to sell by turning the volume up on their commercials
louder than the actual television show because it attracts the viewers and manipulates them in to
paying attention to them. People are not watching television shows to see the commercials; maybe

Exploring Why Women Failed to Gain the Right to Vote...
Exploring Why Women Failed to Gain the Right to Vote Between 1900 and 1914
There were several reasons that women did not gain the right to vote between 1900 and 1914, both
long term and short term.
Long term reasons include the opinion many people held at the time that women and men had separate
spheres . They believed that women belonged in the private sphere in charge of bringing up children,
cooking etc and men should be in the public sphere work, politics etc. Henry Labouchere said I shall
break down all attempts to break down the barrier which nature has placed between men and women
because these roles were thought to have been ordained by God and couldn t be changed. Some people

They said that the suffragettes were only a small fraction of women so normal women were happy
with things as they were; whereas suffragettes were simply mad, hysterical spinsters. Also, some
people were convinced that women did not deserve to vote because they could not fight or defend
their country. Their view was that people earned the right to vote by being willing to defend their
nation. There was also a worry that giving women the vote would result in the decline of Britain s
place in the world as women might not want Britain to fight wars.
The attitudes of the government obviously had a huge effect on the success of women s suffrage. In
1900 the conservative government was in power and they believed in the separate spheres theory and
therefore didn t want women to vote. The existing political system in Britain worked well at the time
so the conservatives did not want to risk the stability of it. Britain had become the most powerful
country in the world and changing the system would be a huge risk to take. When a Liberal
government came to power in 1906 the problem was that the party was divided on the subject, despite
the fact that the leader, Sir Henry Campbell Bannerman, supported the idea. Two years later, Herbert
Asquith, who strongly

Camtasia Essay
I first hear of Camtasia from the written interaction with other classmates. I did some research on the
Internet and found great evaluations. Later I found that other departments in my company use this
software sporadically. This program is basically an Authoring/multimedia software platform, meaning
that, you do not have to do any coding to create programs.
Camtasia uses images that represent an image on itself or sound. You can drag and drop these images
on a time line. The time line has different levels where you can drag and drop the images, once place
on time line you can do visual effects and add animations.
Creating and editing video with sound is very intuitively. The program can import video from formats
like .camproj, .camrec, and .avi, with no limitations on the length of videos. Screen recordings can be
use in a PC, Mac or vice versa. Enhances to the video recording presentations are done with

Camera Lucida Analysis
The Indexical Experience in Camera Lucida
Roland Barthes analysis of the photograph in Camera Lucida is based on his introspective experience
with photography s appearance. The book consists of reflections of emotions felt during his
experiences, which essentially defines a phenomenological approach. Phenomenology, according to
David Woodruff Smith, is concerned with the things as they appear in our experience...thus the
meanings things have in our experience (Smith). For photography, the appearance of the photograph is
produced through the physical relationship between the referent photographed and how it is imprinted
in film. Therefore, in the experience of a photograph for Barthes, the sign is determined by that
physical relationship. Although, Barthes analysis of the photograph includes both indexical and iconic
aspects, this paper seeks to argue that the indexical aspect of a photograph is the prominent sign of the
photograph because of Barthes phenomenological approach to photography. To be clear, I am
analyzing how Barthes perceives photography as indexical from his phenomenological approach and
proving how it serves the indexical sign.
First, we must consider how Barthes speaks of indexicality when describing the Camera Lucida s
purpose, which he says is to find the noeme of photography. He eventually concludes that the noeme
is the undeniability of that has been , which refers to the indexical truthfulness of what has physically
been in front of the camera. He

The Law Regarding Non Compete Agreements Essay
Courts in Texas continue to struggle with the law regarding non compete agreements, as a recent
decision by the Dallas Court of Appeals indicates. That opinion adds to the trouble Texas employers
may face when they seek to protect their business interests through enforcement of existing non
compete agreements with at will employees.
A fundamental requirement for enforceability of a non compete agreement in Texas is that the
agreement must be ancillary to or part of an otherwise enforceable agreement at the time the
agreement is made. Tex. Bus. Com. Code §§ 15.50. If the only other agreement with the employee is
the at will employment relationship, the covenant not to compete is not enforceable. Notwithstanding
a reference in the statute to at will employment relationships, the Texas Supreme Court has held that
an employment at will relationship, without more, does not constitute an otherwise enforceable
agreement. Light v. Centel Cellular Co., 883 S.W.2d 642 (Tex. 1994).
Employers often argue that a covenant not to compete can be ancillary to an agreement not to disclose
confidential information. The court in the Light decision cited such an agreement, given in exchange
for the employer actually providing the information, as an example of an otherwise enforceable
agreement. However, since then, several cases have raised concerns about how the courts will
construe these types of agreements in the future.
First, the agreement must contain a promise to actually

The Rubik s Cube
How Architecture found Cubes
The Rubik s cube, invented by Erno Rubik, is famously known as the Impossible puzzle.
It was during the summer of my 7th grade that I first stumbled upon the Rubik s cube. The Rubik s
cube is a cube with different colors on all sides. The goal is to be able to return the original look of the
cube, with all the edges and corners corresponding to the center color of each face. People seem to
think the cube is made out of 27 cubes, but it is actually made of a core. The other pieces fit in with
the core to give the look of multiple cubes grouped together.
I remembered the day vividly when I held the glamorous box with the Qi Yi BullFight (Name of the
Rubik s Cube) inside. The cube felt special, it was an experience I had never encountered. Perfect.
Made with care. I momentarily observed the cube, six sides, all with their beautifully covered ... Show

Architecture is the design of a building, just like the bones that make up the structure of a human
being, and the way it forms as a basis for a design. The Rubik s cube is the pencil I use for drawing.
The pencil is occasionally used, and sometimes, left alone. When I am focused, I can solve my
difficulties, calm and controlled. Nevertheless, I can draw my imagination, however hard it maybe.
However, when I am inattentive, it seems like a brick wall is stopping me from my solution. Although
this pencil may cause me to stress out, it can also encourage me to try harder, and seek out the hidden
solution even with the massive brick wall in the way. My love of architecture connects with the cube
because solving problems in puzzles is just like thinking through and designing something. In
addition, whenever I open my vision to the many designs in the world, it brings me back to the Rubik
s cube and architecture. The many designs act like the algorithms in the cube, you sometimes make

We save people money by delivering value and quality, continuous innovation and exceptional guest
experiences both in store and on line so they can live better.
Wal Mart s position from the competitive forces model competition among rivals is fairly weak. The
market is crowded but Wal Mart has the lowest costs, prices, profits, and market share. Wal Mart
exerts a great deal of effort in making sure they are innovative and meeting customer requests. The
bargaining power of suppliers is weak as well. For most producers, Wal Mart would be their largest
account. The bargaining power of buyers is also weak. There is a very broad base of customers and a
meaningful demand for low prices. The threat of new entrants is weak. Wal Mart has a scale of
operation that is very important, it would take years, maybe even decades, for a new company to be on
the same level. Even prominent companies today would have really difficult time matching the costs
and prices Wal Mart provides.
Walmart s competitive advantages from a value chain perspective. First of all it is a distribution
capability: well organized distribution, leadership of Walmart s own distribution centers and inside out
location strategy. Second, is partnership relationship with merchants: integrates suppliers via IT treats
them well in terms of pricing, they are more business partners than value takers . Third, is

How Children Learn Language

1. OVERVIEW
The exact way in which millions of developing children get to the point where they can produce and
understand millions of words and make sentences out of it is the subject of a heated debate in the
psycholinguistic field. According to Saxton (2010,p.18), the study on how children learn language can
be traced back to the German biologist, Tiedermann, in 1787. However, up until the late 1950 s, it is
generally agreed that approach to child language research is at best haphazardly organized. Research
for example was often limited to a generally informal observations (for example research done by

This time, the rat only received food if it pressed the bar a certain number of times. After initial
confusion, it learned to do this also (Aitchison,2008,pp.8 9). This type of learning is called operant
conditioning by Skinner which can be translated as training by means of voluntary responses (the
word operant means a voluntary response rather than an automatic one) and Skinner suggested that a
vast majority of human learning take place via this mode, including learning of
language(,Aitchison,2008,p.9). In his book Verbal Behaviour, Skinner argued that child efforts to
speak are rewarded by parents. Each time the child produces an utterances that comes close to
sounding like an acceptable word or sentence, the parent offers a reward in the form of praise or
encouragement. As this conditioning goes on, the closer the child gets to the adult model of utterance
the more parental rewards that he/she gets. Thus, the operant conditioning relies on the learner
producing a linguistic behaviour that is progressively shaped through rewards, until the desired
behaviour is achieved (Saxton,2010,p.90). Skinner s explanation of language acquisition soon inspired
a critique and rival explanation from Noam Chomsky. Chomsky argued in some detail that
mechanisms such as stimulus, response and reinforcement which are favoured by the behaviourists are
not sufficient to explain verbal bahaviour. In this regard, Chomsky pivotal

Great Depression of the 1930s. Unable to recognize citizens, Hoover was kicked out of office and
Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected as president, which resulted the start of great social upheaval
through the presentation of the New Deal. The New Deal ran from 1933 to 1937 under two stages.
First, he set about offering relief to its people, then after 1935, he set profound agendas for social
reform, which was specifically a socio economic reform agenda that was made up of a host of
legislative initiatives and government programs, launched by President Roosevelt supported by
Congress in response to Great Depression. The New Deal composed of the three R s: relief for those
Americans unemployed, recovery towards the economy allowing businesses to operate again, and
reform economy in preventing replicating situations. President Roosevelt s New Deal was guided by
four principles, set of ideas and beliefs that formed the New Deal Agenda, which were to balance
production and consumption, reform capitalism, to alleviate the inequalities of wealth, and to
counterbalance the power of big corporation with government programs and public interest. The New
Deal is significant because programs and initiatives were created in providing channels for the
working people to gain more access to work. In order to transform society, the New Deal constructed a

Marionettes And The Pedestrian Comparison
Ray Bradbury: a poet, essayist, playwright, and short story writer. He has conducted many stories that
include themes relating to society and the future of society as he believes it to be. Marionettes, Inc.
and The Pedestrian are similar regarding the point of view of both texts. Marionettes, Inc. is about
Braling, a man who aspires to travel and follow his dreams but is restricted because of the chains his
wife has linked him to. Braling believes that he has found the solution to this issue by purchasing a
marionette to take the place of Braling. As a result, Braling 2, the marionette, has a mind of his own
and stands up to Braling 1in a threatening way. The short story, The Pedestrian consists of a man,
Leonard Mead who enjoys nightly walks by himself. A police officer meets with Mr. Mead and
commands Mead to get into the car. Reluctantly, Mead agrees but with no knowledge of where the
officer plans to take him. Marionettes, Inc. and The Pedestrian are illustrated in the way that the point
of view, the conflict, and the plot structure of the story are similar and are easily comparable. The first
aspect regarding the similarity of the texts involves the point of view in both Marionettes Inc. and The
Pedestrian . Marionettes Inc. is told from the perspective of a middle aged man whom goes by the
name of Braling. This character feels the weight of the world is on his shoulders because of his clingy

One of its most well known landforms is the Eiffel Tower. Another is The Louvre which is an art

because I ve always wanted to go there. Climate Geology France has long hot summers and cool
winters. Southern France remains balmy throughout spring which is March May and in autumn which
is September October, which are much better times to visit. Prices are also much cheaper.
Northeastern areas have warm summers and colder winters. The winters have rainfall distributed
throughout the year and snowfall likely in winter. Summer which is June August, is the peak season.
During this time it is warm and sunny across much of the country. One of the prettiest natural
spectacles occurs in Provence, which is between the last week of June and first week of August. This

The Problems Of Municipal Administration By Jane Addams
The Problems of Municipal Administration written by Jane Addams described the problems of public
administration in targeted social publics that affected the community, specifically she mentioned the
inequalities and injustices of municipal administration. The author stars by pointing out the failure of
municipal administration to address the issues emerging in society. The social changes brought by the
increased of industrialization in the 18th century failed to address the necessities of society. Addams
emphasized, ...failure in municipal administration, the so called shame of American cities, may be
largely due to the inadequacy of those eighteen century ideals, with the breakdown of the machinery
which they provided, and further, to the weakness inherent in the historic and doctrinaire method
when it attempts to deal with growing and human institutions (p. 51). The lack of adjustment between
democracy and the study of the external conditions affecting the communities was a problems that
governmental officials failed to take into consideration. The increased of industrialization in American
cities brought a new social demand to public officials who were unprepared to target the existing
issues of society. Administrative officers started to gaining power to conduct intervention programs or
institutions. However, people started to distrust public administrators and institutions for their
inefficiency and incapacity they gave to the treatment of social issues. The author

What Is Comfort Zone Essay
Comfort zone is a situation where one feels safe and at ease. It is a type of behaviour that keeps us at a
steadily Low anxiety level. Something that we do all the time, like taking the bus to school, watching
television programmes and checking out social media platforms are part of our comfort zones. These
everyday activities that we are used to will not make us feel anxious and uneasy. We like to stay in our
comfort zone even though we are bored of being in the comfort zone. When we see the struggle that
others go through to achieve something in life , we will be scared of the numerous challenges that we
may face. However, it is important that we leave our comfort zone for self improvement so as to
achieve success.
Getting out of our comfort zone is crucial and it will benefit us. One of the benefits is that we will find
it easier to push our boundaries in the future. Once we start stepping out of our comfort zone, it gets
easier to learn new skills and gain new knowledge over time. To illustrate my point, in order to

How To Write A Critique Of Favorite Kjv Text
(A Critique of Favorite KJV Text in Textbook) In our English class we study a multitude of texts
which slightly link together forming a chain that carries us throughout the year studying texts. After
only a few months into our year, we have started to study the King James Version of the Bible that was
written in 1611. When we study texts we don t just read them once. Instead, we deeply analyze line by
line and, sometimes, word by word. The fact that the textbook company included a few Psalms and
some stories from the book of Mathew and Luke, makes me proud that we can appreciate such works
without taking it too far. After analyzing the four excerpts from the King James Version of the Bible, I
took an admiration for the clipping of The Sermon on the Mount.
First of all, The Sermon on the Mount, found in Mathew 6:24 30, begins by giving some instruction or
guidance on how to perceive God. Many would argue that it is controversial as to how God wants to
be admired and how someone can show him their admiration. There is one simple verse which tells
how to do so while being short and sweet. No man can serve two masters: for either he ... Show more

I learned that this technique is used for the first time in the KJV to help teach the concepts. This is an

your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye no much better than they? (page 301, verse 26) In this

This helps the reader to step back and look at themselves in a different perspective. Having the

Hearing People Communication
This article presented me with many observations on the way both Deaf and hearing people
communicate that I had not considered before. My prior experiences as a non signing hearing person
communicating with Deaf people have been limited to communicating through an interpreter or
slowing down my naturally fast rate of talking so that my lips could read. Admittedly, albeit naïvely, I
had never considered that I could improve my communication with other hearing people through tips
and tricks that Deaf people just use naturally when communicating with one another, however, this
article changed that completely. One thing that kind of surprised me a little at first is that Deaf people
routinely pass messages much faster and more precisely than any hearing person. It would seem like
being able to communicate orally would make getting messages across much easier, however, just

Add on top this our tendency to speak over one another and there s a wonder we ever get anything
communicated. ASL requires deaf people to not only speak one at a time, but the people listening have
to give the speaker their full attention so that they can understand what has been said, which is
something that hearing people could definitely improve upon. I also agree with Dr. Kahne s point that
there is a huge difference between our cultures in asking for clarification. If a deaf person doesn t
understand what has been said they will ask to have it repeated, whereas there seems to be a stigma
against that for many hearing people. Since we don t have to have our eyes on the speaker to
understand them, this allows for our eyes, and quite often also our minds, to wander. As a result we
don t end up understanding all or part of what was said and then for whatever reason, instead of asking
them to repeat it, we just smile and nod and pretend like we were paying attention the entire

Youth Culture And Culture
Youth culture changes over time, with every generation, comes new fads and trends. Teenagers and
young adults, usually gravitate towards what is popular. Fashion, movies, television, music, religion,
sexuality, and diversity are all part of today s youth culture. Things that are becoming more
acceptable. Music plays a huge role in all cultures because music is mostly universal. In the 1920s
there was jazz, in the 50 s there was rock, in the 70 s disco, 90 s gangster rap, in present day, most
music has some underlying message relating to what is happening in society. Some messages in music
transcend through culture and time. Today s youth demographics music taste has evolved to pop and
rap. Some rap is not articulate or pleasing to the ear, to put it lightly it sounds bad. Generation Z, today
s youth culture, is more open to accepting and admitting change and diversity. There are many public
figures that promote these things; Angelina Jolie, Ellen DeGeneres, Hillary Clinton, Lady Gaga, Bill
Gates, Beyoncé, and President Barack Obama. One man who preaches peace, love, and positivity
through his music is Sir Robert Bryson Hall II or otherwise known as Logic. Hip hop may not fully
accept Logic, but his songs 1 800 273 8255, Take it Back and Everybody have had an impact on

Tyranny In The United States Essay
The United States democracy is an effective system of government carefully crafted by the founding
fathers to ensure that nobody can gain too much power over the rest. When the founding fathers were
drafting the constitution they were referring to a person or a group when referring to Tyranny .
Unfortunately tyranny has arisen in the United States, but not in the way anyone expected, race has
become a form of tyranny. The tyrannical white majority has been a large influence in the United
States ever since inception and have been substantially prevalent around events in the US like
reconstruction, civil rights movement, and the election of the first african american president of the
united states. Many have identified and have tried to counteract the problem of tyranny of the white
majority, but to no avail. Democratic reform like the Voting rights act, civil rights act, brown v board
of education, and the election of president obama have failed to help counteract the problem of
tyranny of the white majority seen in the United States. The tyranny of the white majority doesn t have
one specific definition, but it is ever prevalent in society. The definition has been reformed over time
with changing times. The tyranny of the white majority is a system of oppression in the us government
where the whites in the united states have stronger influence over laws and the general government
giving the minorities less power in the government. This has been seen in the

Man On Wire, By James Marsh
Man on wire which was set in 1947 directed by James Marsh about a french high wire artist Philippe
Petit who is fascinated by New Yorks trade Centre where he has strung a six metre tight rope between
the twin tires and walked across it without any fear. The documentary is about Petit s daring attempt,
the aftermath and about his friends and the people who helped him achieve his life goals. Some
consider it the artistic crime of the century The director has used many techniques to captivate
audiences making us feel like we are apart of this incredible story. Techniques such as Interviews and
archival footage.
One of the most widely used documentary techniques is interviews. Interviews reflect opinions from
different viewpoints creating an almost 3 dimensional story. Its helps the audience feel more engaged
as it is coming from a person s point of view who was involved in the events making it feel more
realistic. The audience can be assured that the story is not made up. Interviews give a sense of realism.
Man on wire is a good example of the interview style being used to reflect feelings of the time Petit
was on his way to making his dream come a reality. The emotions at some point were exaggerating
maybe because he is a performer. But this made us as viewers feel apart of the film being able to
sympathize with the characters and storyline. Marsh uses a technique where we see the subject talking
on screen but we do not hear the interviewer talking or asking questions.

Mild Traumatic Brain Injuries
Mild Traumatic Brain Injuries (MTBI) or Concussions as they are most commonly known, can cause
serious damage on the effected athletes brain resulting in the athlete suffering short term effects (e.g.

The Regulation Of Provided Legal Services
Introduction
The regulation of provided legal services is imperative towards the functionality of the justice system.
As indicated by Sir David Clementi regulation fulfills six distinctive purposes of which incorporates
access to justice, protection and advancement of consumer interest, promotion of competition, public
understanding of a native s legitimate rights and the maintenance of the rule of law.
The SRA Code of Conduct represents an ambitious attempt to merge consumer protection and
professionalism. As it stands, the regulatory framework of the legal profession was established by the
Legal Services Act, 2007 . Further to this, section 12 of the legislation outlines six legal activities that
may only be executed by authorized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, the SRA protects consumer interest and offers consultation with the public and professionals
to ensure that standards are met. The SRA Code of Conduct 2011 is a subordinate enactment in that its
formulation requires Parliament s approval.
It would appear that the SRA Codes are based on the approach of risk based regulation. It is critical
therefore to comprehend what risk implies in this specific circumstance. Despite its common usage,
risk based regulation is utilized in numerous disciplines for a variation of meanings. In this context,
risk based regulation is figuring out if a certain action should be controlled or to what degree
safeguard measures firms should adhere to. Furthermore, the risk based approach taken by the SRA
has two steps which are impact and probability of the risk.
Perhaps a serious shortcoming with this approach is the inability to evaluate both steps lacking
sufficient data. For instance, the SRA might notice a new kind of fraud emerging but the organization
s knowledge of such impact is limited. If a risk is hard to measure, it is frequently said to be instability
instead of risk . Therefore, the SRA manages risk that is mostly instabilities in a technical sense.
It is reasonable to question to what extent does the SRA Codes deal with risk and the association
between risk and ethics in relation to those codes. One aspect of a risk based approach is exemplified
by way of the implementation of the Solicitors Code

In the 2002 book, Halloween: From Pagan Ritual to Party Night, author Nicholas Rogers points out,
Halloween is commonly thought to have pagan origins, even though the etymology is Christian.
Halloween is, quite literally, the derivative of All Hallow Even, or the eve of All Saints Day (1
November). Taken together with All Souls Day, which falls on 2 November, it is a time assigned in the
Christian calendar for honoring the saints and newly departed. 1. The name All Hallow Even has
evolved over time, it eventually became Hallowe en, and then to what we know the holiday now as:
Halloween. 2. Halloween was a day to celebrate the deceased, followed by a time to pray for them. B.
Halloween also comes from the sacred Celtic festival, Samhain. 1. On the eve of Samhain, the Celts
believed the dead, both ghosts and demons, were allowed to roam free. 2. TRANSITION: Now that
we know where Halloween came from, let s talk about how these origins translate into current
Halloween traditions. II. Now, I will explain how our American Halloween traditions, such as dressing
up, trick or treating, and carving jack o lanterns, came to

  • 2. Application Of Counselor Competence For Person Centered... Conceptualization This reliability study was designed to test the inter rater reliability of a newly developed measure of counselor competence for person centered and experiential psychotherapy techniques. Developed by the authors in hopes of improving counselor training and supervision outcomes for therapists specializing in a person centered approach, the Person Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale (PCEPS) is a rating scale containing two sub scales (the person centered subscale and experiential subscale) with which trained observers can rate the adherence and competence of therapists to a person centered approach. The aim of this study was to investigate whether inter rater agreement existed in ratings of therapists on the Person Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale (PCEPS). The procedure for conducting this reliability study was based upon the procedures followed in existing research to validate other scales related to person centered therapy competency. Truax and Carkhuff s (1967) Scales for Therapist Accurate Empathy, Nonpossessive Warmth, and Genuineness were created to measure therapist traits and competencies through live observations or recordings of therapy sessions. Waltz et al. (1993) further advised that therapy sessions of practitioners be recorded so as to facilitate treatment integrity checks. She was dressed in a pink sweater which was a stark contrast to her machine gun and her character. Her movements were just as graceful as before but no longer for the simple purpose of appearing feminine. Her elegance was displayed in the way she moved, deliberately and silently, her whole body poised to strike down the enemy at the soonest opportunity. Mary Anne talks about the war in a positive light saying that when she is fighting is the only time she knows who she truly is. However, the author compares Mary Anne s relationship to war as being similar to a drug addiction. She has lost perspective on who she really is and only those around her can see her true self. In my story Mary Anne is described as having a longing for the fight which turns into an overwhelming urge to risk what is left of her life . This parallels the Song of the Tra Bong in its description of the drug like effect of war on Mary Anne. She consistently uses the phrase It s not bad to describe her transformation. It is like she is trying to convince herself that who she has become is okay and that there is no problem with what she is doing. This is not that different from the way a drug addict might try to find a justification for their behavior or at least understate its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such forms of communication have been able to connect millions of people from around the world and put them right at a user s fingertips. These sites are designed to connect people of opposite sexual representation with the person he or she is interested in. Sites like these are good at matching users with their desired counterparts. He attended frontier schools and acquired the reputation of being fiery tempered and willing to fight all comers. He also learned to read, and he was often called on by the community to read aloud the news from the Philadelphia papers. In 1775, with the beginning of the American Revolution, Andrew Jackson, then only 13 years old became an orderly and messenger. After one year in the, Jackson moved to the Senate, the other chamber of the Congress of the United States. He served from September 1797 to April 1798 and then retired to private life. During the years of 1804 to 1812, Jackson settled, with his wife in his home retiring indefinately. Although Jackson was active in local politics, he took little interest in national affairs. The one exception was his brief involvement with the so called Burr conspiracy. Former Vice President Aaron Burr, determined to restore his personal fortunes, convinced Jackson that he had government backing to lead a filibustering expedition into Mexico. Jackson agreed to build him some boats, but when he realized that Burr and his group were acting entirely on their own, he immediately dropped his connection with the scheme. Jackson s hot temper involved him in a number of feuds and duels. Many of them were caused by remarks made about his marriage. The duel with Charles Dickinson in 1806 stands out as an example of Jackson s characteristic refusal even to acknowledge the possibility of defeat. Jackson let his opponent fire first, because Dickinson was a faster and better shot. Allowing himself time to take deliberate aim, Jackson planned to kill his man with a single bullet, even if he had shot me through the brain. Thus, Jackson took a bullet in the chest and, without flinching, calmly killed his man. Jackson was also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Analysis Motives are the most common source of an outcome, leading individuals to every action that occurs. Every decision made by an individual is influenced by some sort of motive, whether it is physiological, social, or personal. Ken Kesey presents to the reader the inspiration behind the characters course of action in the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, resulting in the change of heart from Dr.Spivey and Randle McMurphy. The impact from other individuals often alters the reasoning for an action. Doctor Spivey originally supported Nurse Ratched s actions, but Mcmurphy influenced him to make decisions based on the needs and wants of the patients. Mcmurphy inspires the men to voice their opinion and builds their confidence up, so that they can take on the Nurse. Nurse Ratched does not agree with the men, so she does everything in her power to eliminate the men s masculinity in order for her to keep the ward running like she desires. Doctor Spivey is easily persuaded by other individuals when it comes to choosing a side. In the beginning of the novel, Doctor Spivey agrees with the Nurse because of his tendency to be easily manipulated and because of the consequences that may come about if he were to disagree with her plan of action. Doctor Spivey s masculinity was stripped by Nurse Ratched along with the other patients. Once Mcmurphy is admitted to the ward the Doctor begins to see how the ward is ran through a different perspective, and he starts to stand up for the men instead of lurking in the shadows of Nurse Ratched. Doctor Spivey has a discussion with Mcmurphy about the music; they make a plan to make the patients happy. During the meeting Doctor Spivey tells the men that the day room will have the music turned up for the chronics and the acutes can go to another room where there will be no music. Unlike the Nurse, Doctor Spivey is willing to change the routine up, and accommodate both the needs and wants of all the patients. This action also presents to the reader that being influenced by others isn t always bad, it just means that you are listening to others opinions. The turning point in the novel is when the Doctor decides to go on the fishing trip with the men. The inspiration for this decision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Probably, the most prominent ideas on that theory were expressed in the work of John Hicks called Mr. Keynes and the Classics . The model expressed in the article was largely based on the works of John Maynard Keynes and became a widely accepted as the alternative framework to standard Keynesian analysis. The IS LM model is a way of modelling equilibrium in the economy by looking at equilibrium in the goods and services markets (the IS curve) and equilibrium in the money markets (LM curve). Therefore, the amount of income from Y`1 to Y1 will be anattainable because of outcrowding of the private sector by the public sector investment (shaded area). The degree of crowding out depends on severeal factors. One of them is the extent of multiplier effect. Multiplier effect occurs when increase in investment or any other autonomous expenditure leads to even greater increase in income. For example, it may become widely believed that the MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) is going to reduce the rate of interest. In that case, number of leackages in the economy in the form of savings is likely to decline and consumption to increase. This will result in the larger propensity to consume for every marginal unit of income. Increase in consumption should lead to increase in investment and more flatter IS curve (see figure 3), which will mean greater degree of crowding out. Figure 3. r LM r` r IS` IS 0

For nearly four decades, child welfare policy and practice have focused on the achievement of legal permanence for children in foster care. We are now at a crossroads in advancing our understanding of a 21st century child welfare system. As this paper will detail, we are now at a point where there are 2.8 children living in federally funded Title IV E adoptive and guardianship homes for every child living in Title IV E subsidized foster care. In the United States, when a child or youth achieves legal permanence through adoption or guardianship, legal custody of the child is transferred from the state to adoptive parents or guardians. The American Dream is the idea that children will have a higher standard of living than their parents and in 1940, 92 percent of them did. What the soldiers burdened themselves with was largely determined, emotionally or physically, was by necessity. The tangible objects depicted in the book are especially relevant. The author s style of writing is very elaborate only because he wants the readers to discern sympathy towards the soldiers. The author tells us about the weight of the objects each of the soldiers carry to supplement our overall total lasting impression. Their view was that people earned the right to vote by being willing to defend their nation. There was also a worry that giving women the vote would result in the decline of Britain s place in the world as women might not want Britain to fight wars. The attitudes of the government obviously had a huge effect on the success of women s suffrage. Camera Lucida Analysis The Indexical Experience in Camera Lucida Roland Barthes analysis of the photograph in Camera Lucida is based on his introspective experience with photography s appearance. The book consists of reflections of emotions felt during his experiences, which essentially defines a phenomenological approach. Phenomenology, according to David Woodruff Smith, is concerned with the things as they appear in our experience...thus the meanings things have in our experience (Smith). For photography, the appearance of the photograph is produced through the physical relationship between the referent photographed and how it is imprinted in film. Therefore, in the experience of a photograph for Barthes, the sign is determined by that physical relationship. Although, Barthes analysis of the photograph includes both indexical and iconic aspects, this paper seeks to argue that the indexical aspect of a photograph is the prominent sign of the photograph because of Barthes phenomenological approach to photography. To be clear, I am analyzing how Barthes perceives photography as indexical from his phenomenological approach and proving how it serves the indexical sign. First, we must consider how Barthes speaks of indexicality when describing the Camera Lucida s purpose, which he says is to find the noeme of photography. The Law Regarding Non Compete Agreements Essay Courts in Texas continue to struggle with the law regarding non compete agreements, as a recent decision by the Dallas Court of Appeals indicates. That opinion adds to the trouble Texas employers may face when they seek to protect their business interests through enforcement of existing non compete agreements with at will employees. A fundamental requirement for enforceability of a non compete agreement in Texas is that the agreement must be ancillary to or part of an otherwise enforceable agreement at the time the agreement is made. Tex. Bus. Com. Code §§ 15.50. If the only other agreement with the employee is the at will employment relationship, the covenant not to compete is not enforceable. Notwithstanding a reference in the statute to at will employment relationships, the Texas Supreme Court has held that an employment at will relationship, without more, does not constitute an otherwise enforceable agreement. Light v. Centel Cellular Co., 883 S.W.2d 642 (Tex. 1994). Employers often argue that a covenant not to compete can be ancillary to an agreement not to disclose confidential information. The court in the Light decision cited such an agreement, given in exchange for the employer actually providing the information, as an example of an otherwise enforceable agreement. However, since then, several cases have raised concerns about how the courts will construe these types of agreements in the future. First, the agreement must contain a promise to actually ... In his book Verbal Behaviour, Skinner argued that child efforts to speak are rewarded by parents. Each time the child produces an utterances that comes close to sounding like an acceptable word or sentence, the parent offers a reward in the form of praise or encouragement. As this conditioning goes on, the closer the child gets to the adult model of utterance the more parental rewards that he/she gets. Thus, the operant conditioning relies on the learner producing a linguistic behaviour that is progressively shaped through rewards, until the desired behaviour is achieved (Saxton,2010,p.90). Skinner s explanation of language acquisition soon inspired a critique and rival explanation from Noam Chomsky. Chomsky argued in some detail that mechanisms such as stimulus, response and reinforcement which are favoured by the behaviourists are not sufficient to explain verbal bahaviour. The lack of adjustment between democracy and the study of the external conditions affecting the communities was a problems that governmental officials failed to take into consideration. How To Write A Critique Of Favorite Kjv Text (A Critique of Favorite KJV Text in Textbook) In our English class we study a multitude of texts which slightly link together forming a chain that carries us throughout the year studying texts. After only a few months into our year, we have started to study the King James Version of the Bible that was written in 1611. When we study texts we don t just read them once. Instead, we deeply analyze line by line and, sometimes, word by word. The fact that the textbook company included a few Psalms and some stories from the book of Mathew and Luke, makes me proud that we can appreciate such works without taking it too far. After analyzing the four excerpts from the King James Version of the Bible, I took an admiration for the clipping of The Sermon on the Mount. First of all, The Sermon on the Mount, found in Mathew 6:24 30, begins by giving some instruction or guidance on how to perceive God. Many would argue that it is controversial as to how God wants to be admired and how someone can show him their admiration. There is one simple verse which tells how to do so while being short and sweet. No man can serve two masters: for either he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (page 301, verse 26) In this quote, Jesus makes a statement and then questions the hierarchy that humans have held themselves to. This helps the reader to step back and look at themselves in a different perspective. Having the audience question the way they ve done things is an aspect of The Sermon on the Mount that I found ... My prior experiences as a non signing hearing person communicating with Deaf people have been limited to communicating through an interpreter or slowing down my naturally fast rate of talking so that my lips could read. Admittedly, albeit naïvely, I had never considered that I could improve my communication with other hearing people through tips and tricks that Deaf people just use naturally when communicating with one another, however, this article changed that completely. One thing that kind of surprised me a little at first is that Deaf people routinely pass messages much faster and more precisely than any hearing person. It would seem like being able to communicate orally would make getting messages across much easier, however, just thinking back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Add on top this our tendency to speak over one another and there s a wonder we ever get anything communicated. ASL requires deaf people to not only speak one at a time, but the people listening have to give the speaker their full attention so that they can understand what has been said, which is something that hearing people could definitely improve upon. I also agree with Dr. Kahne s point that there is a huge difference between our cultures in asking for clarification. If a deaf person doesn t understand what has been said they will ask to have it repeated, whereas there seems to be a stigma against that for many hearing people. Since we don t have to have our eyes on the speaker to understand them, this allows for our eyes, and quite often also our minds, to wander. As a result we don t end up understanding all or part of what was said and then for whatever reason, instead of asking them to repeat it, we just smile and nod and pretend like we were paying attention the entire ... Fashion, movies, television, music, religion, sexuality, and diversity are all part of today s youth culture. Things that are becoming more acceptable. Music plays a huge role in all cultures because music is mostly universal. In the 1920s there was jazz, in the 50 s there was rock, in the 70 s disco, 90 s gangster rap, in present day, most music has some underlying message relating to what is happening in society. Some messages in music transcend through culture and time. Today s youth demographics music taste has evolved to pop and rap. Some rap is not articulate or pleasing to the ear, to put it lightly it sounds bad. Generation Z, today s youth culture, is more open to accepting and admitting change and diversity. There are many public figures that promote these things; Angelina Jolie, Ellen DeGeneres, Hillary Clinton, Lady Gaga, Bill Gates, Beyoncé, and President Barack Obama. Tyranny In The United States Essay The United States democracy is an effective system of government carefully crafted by the founding fathers to ensure that nobody can gain too much power over the rest. When the founding fathers were drafting the constitution they were referring to a person or a group when referring to Tyranny . Unfortunately tyranny has arisen in the United States, but not in the way anyone expected, race has become a form of tyranny. The tyrannical white majority has been a large influence in the United States ever since inception and have been substantially prevalent around events in the US like reconstruction, civil rights movement, and the election of the first african american president of the united states. Many have identified and have tried to counteract the problem of tyranny of the white majority, but to no avail. Democratic reform like the Voting rights act, civil rights act, brown v board of education, and the election of president obama have failed to help counteract the problem of tyranny of the white majority seen in the United States. The documentary is about Petit s daring attempt, the aftermath and about his friends and the people who helped him achieve his life goals. Some consider it the artistic crime of the century The director has used many techniques to captivate audiences making us feel like we are apart of this incredible story. Techniques such as Interviews and archival footage. One of the most widely used documentary techniques is interviews. Interviews reflect opinions from different viewpoints creating an almost 3 dimensional story. Its helps the audience feel more engaged as it is coming from a person s point of view who was involved in the events making it feel more realistic. The audience can be assured that the story is not made up. Interviews give a sense of realism. Man on wire is a good example of the interview style being used to reflect feelings of the time Petit was on his way to making his dream come a reality. The emotions at some point were exaggerating maybe because he is a performer. But this made us as viewers feel apart of the film being able to sympathize with the characters and storyline. It is critical therefore to comprehend what risk implies in this specific circumstance. Despite its common usage, risk based regulation is utilized in numerous disciplines for a variation of meanings. In this context, risk based regulation is figuring out if a certain action should be controlled or to what degree safeguard measures firms should adhere to. Furthermore, the risk based approach taken by the SRA has two steps which are impact and probability of the risk. Perhaps a serious shortcoming with this approach is the inability to evaluate both steps lacking sufficient data. For instance, the SRA might notice a new kind of fraud emerging but the organization s knowledge of such impact is limited. If a risk is hard to measure, it is frequently said to be instability instead of risk . Therefore, the SRA manages risk that is mostly instabilities in a technical sense.
