Dual Immigrants
It is not recommended that Lars come to the U.S. on his tourist visa. The problem with using coming
on tourist visa and getting married immediately is the legal concept of dual intent. At the time a person
enters the U.S. they cannot have both (1) the intent to return to their home country and (2) at the same
time, intend to remain in the U.S. as the spouse of a U.S. citizen. An entry as a tourist legally requires
that you are entering with the intention of returning to your permanent home abroad, not to enter as a
tourist, get married, and remain here to apply for a green card. If you file within 30 days, there is a
rebuttable presumption that you wanted to stay in the U.S.. If you file more than 30 days but less than
60 days after entry into

The Life Of Stephen Hawking Essay
The Life of Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hawking. A bright student, a brilliant physicist, a brave man. The life of Hawking is full of
ups and downs, peaks and valleys, enlightened intelligence, and devastating disabilities. (I m still
working on this bit) Stephen Hawking was born on January 8, 1942 in Oxford, England. His parents
Frank and Isobel Hawking resided in London, though because World War II was in full swing at this
point, they decided along with many others, that it would be safer to raise a family in Oxford. Both of
his parents were well educated, had a hunger for travel, and were involved in political activism. They
passed their enthusiasm and passion for these things onto their children.Witherbee, Amy. Stephen

Hawking began his studies in the spring of 1958, at a private school near his home. As the years passe
, Stephen excelled in all areas of his studies, especially math and science. As he was nearing the end of
his early education, the time was approaching for him to take his A level exams which were a series of
exams taken by students with the desire to attend college. (Witherbee) Stephen wanted to attend
Oxford like his father, but unlike his father, he wanted to study the natural sciences instead of
medicine. He was so eager to get there that he decided that he wanted to take the Oxford

Persuasive Essay On A Separate Peace
Peace is very complex. It could happen when your young, or when your older and more experienced.
Peace can come from bright times or dark time, such as death. In the novel A Separate Peace by John
Knowles Gene finds peace in a very odd way. He has a quite separate peace from everyone else.
Staring off as one piece, braking off into a separate piece, and finally finding a separate peace, Gene
discovers he is himself, and not Finny. Without peace, people become discombobulated. Before the
casualty, Gene believes that he is Finny. They are one piece that cannot be separated. If one of them
fails to do something, it is the job of the other to succeed. We see this when Gene puts on Finny s
cloths when he is gone. I never forgot, and that evening I put on his cordovan shoes, his pants, and I
looked for and finally found his pink shirt, neatly laundered in a drawer.... But when I looked in the
mirror it was no remote aristocrat I had become, no character out of daydreams. I was Phineas
(Knowles 62). In addition to looking the part, he plays the part. When Finny breaks his leg and can no
longer be himself and play sports, Gene takes this role. Finny even starts to train him for the 1944
Olympics, in exchange Gene tutors him. To add on to all of this, the even leap from the tree together,
as one. This causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

disconnect a few connecting strings that still remain linking the two. Gene never cries for Finny. It
could be because he fells dead himself. I did not cry then or ever about Finny. I did not cry even when
I stood watching him being lowered into his family s strait laced burial ground outside of Boston. I
could not escape a feeling that this was my own funeral, and you do not cry in that case (194). This
lonesomeness is a new concept for Gene and he is now faced with the challenge of finding

Reviewing The Contractual Implications Of Coffee Importers...
I have been asked to advise Daily Grind Ltd regarding the contractual implications of their decision to
discontinue paying commission of 6.5% of the sale price of Moondollar products in New Zealand to
Fixit Ltd as per their contract, as a result of Messrs Waugh and Greene (the owners of Daily Grind
Ltd) restructuring their business. Messrs Waugh and Greene incorporated a new company Coffee
Importers Ltd to import and on sell Moondollar products in New Zealand. Of particular concern is
whether Coffee Importers Ltd is an associated entity of Daily Grind Ltd, and if so, is Daily Grind Ltd
or Coffee Importers Ltd liable to pay the commission. This opinion concludes that Coffee Importers
Ltd is an associated entity, and that Daily Grind Ltd is still liable to pay the commission. I Relevant
Facts Daily Grind Ltd entered into a contract with Fixit Ltd, which provided that Fixit Ltd would
assist and advocate for Daily Grind Ltd with the purpose of securing the master franchise for
Moondollars Coffee in New Zealand. Upon securing the master franchise Daily Grind Ltd would pay
to Fixit Ltd 650,000USD. Further, Messrs Waugh and Greene would pay Fixit Ltd 4% of the sale price
of any of their ownership interests in Daily Grind Ltd. Lastly, at clause 4.2.1, Daily Grind Ltd will pay
Fixit Ltd 6.5% in commission of the sale price for Moondollar products which is imported into New
Zealand to their franchisees. This agreement operated on good terms and Daily Grind Ltd met their

Animal Rights Against Animals And The Land Ethic
Drawing on animal rights claims, the questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this
essay seeks to argue that zoos; a place in which wild animal s are held in captivity, are inherently
unethical, because they violate the ethical and moral standard in which animals have a claim to. Citing
experts in the animal ethics field, this essay will be supported by firstly establishing that animals do in
fact have animal rights and similarly, that they have a claim to a moral status relative to that of
humans. Following this, this essay will show that the animal rights, which zoo animals are privy to,
allows us to set an ethical standard on which humans have a duty to treat animals, especially when
held in captivity. Analyzing this ethical standard with which me must treat zoo animals, we can
deduce that zoos are in fact not ethical in nature and in practice.
The starting point of this essay is to establish and lay out an animal rights claim. The point here is not
to solely list which specific rights animals have, as that goes beyond the scope of this essay, but to
discuss why animals do in fact have a claim to rights, and what this means for humans. The need to
understand the intrinsic, or inherent value of animals allows us to see the base from which their claim
to rights is derived. Inherent value refers to the idea that animals are valuable in themselves, not in
what they provide us. Tom Regan, an animal ethicist, sets out the moral grounding from which we can

Body Mechanics Seminar Work related interventions are a central part of occupational therapy
practice and occupational therapists recognize the importance of healthy engagement within the
workplace (American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2014; Wilcock Townsend as cited

work activities and recognize potential dangers related to poor body mechanics (Opp, 2016). Opp
(2016) acknowledged a recent increase in employers taking a proactive approach in preventing work
related injuries and incorporating occupational therapists as means to evaluate the work environment
and make practical recommendations to reduce the risk of workplace injury (Opp, 2016). Body

Determination In The Bravest Girl In The World
Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough Og Mandino. Og
Mandino is saying that if someone has a strong determination to succeed they will never fail.
Determination means a firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end. The word determination is
from the Middle English, the Anglo French determiner, and from the Latin determinare. Synonyms are
used to help people better understand a word. The synonyms for determination include resolution,
decisiveness, and persistency. Hesitation, indecision, and irresoluteness are antonyms to the word
determination. People say in life if a person has determination they can accomplish anything. Malala

She escaped captivity though, and is now determined to help other kids like her. One reason she wrote

The Effect Of Temperature On Membrane Permeability
The objective and the main purpose of this experiment were to determine the effects of temperature on
membrane permeability. Physical treatment on membrane permeability with its effects on the basis of
the known chemical composition of the membrane was investigated. The major result of this
experiment was the maximum membrane permeability was determined by the maximum absorbance
value. Also the membrane becomes more permeable at higher temperature, which was the expected
result considering the fact that the protein denatured at higher temperature and phospholipid became
less stable because its shape and structure changed. As figure.1 states the result of this experiment as
temperature increases, the mean absorbance value increases as well (Reece et al., 2014).
All of phospholipid bilayers, proteins and carbohydrates together constitute the biological membrane.
Each of these members of biological membrane has separate individual task. The task of phospholipid
bilayer is to make up the cell membrane. Phospholipids are made up of two fatty acids and long chain
of hydrogen and carbon, which are, attach to glycerol head. The glycerol molecule is also attached to
phosphate group and this is the hydrophilic part of the molecule. The tail ends on the fatty acid chain,
opposite the glycerol are hydrophobic part of the molecule. The phospholipid releases a barrier to
prevent the passage from chemical and waste products. The most important function for phospholipid
is to form a

Analysis of Mise-En-Scene in the Film American Beauty Essay
How does mise en scene create meaning and provoke response in the opening of American Beauty?
The opening scene of American Beauty shows a teenage girl lying in a bed, venting her feelings
towards her father. In this, the audience sees her in dull clothing and colours, minimal make up and
has greasy looking hair. As she sits up, her hair falls around her face and she stares directly into the
camera, giving a sense of unease to the audience.
The next shot is an establishing shot, showing the street where the main character, Leister, lives. Its
fall/autumn time and the trees are bare or dying, possibly indicating and foreshadowing a death later
on in the movie. Also the streets are very linear, all vertical and in uniform, as it were. ... Show more

This opening introduces the family s lifestyle and sets the scene for the audience, from the shot
following Leister s shower, the audience gets the sense that the wife is the head of the house as she
gardens in a bright, contemporary looking garden. The camera goes to a close up on the rose as the
woman clips it from the bush. This rose is called American Beauty which is also the name of the film.
She is dressed in a plain grey suit and a clean white apron, again fitting in with the colour scheme of
the interior decor. She also wears pearl earrings and a pearl necklace with her hair perfectly framing
this and has impeccable make up, indicating what the perfect American housewife should resemble.
She also converses with the homosexual neighbours about the secret to her roses flourishing so well;
she seems happy and overly enthusiastic. The audience then see a shot of Leister, again, enclosed in an
environment this time the window. The audience sees him behind the window panes, in between two
bright blue shutters, indicating his isolation and loneliness within his own home. The colour blue is
also an interesting choice by the director. Blue suggests calm and tranquillity within the home, and
also reflects on the colour of the perfect blue sky. Leister seems to fit in as he reflects on his own life
and his past happiness, and also seems unsettled within himself, contrasting to the

The Border Patrol State Summary
Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based in
the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and checkpoints.
In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine.
In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US
Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these
arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a
result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos.
Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For
example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone through
a similar experience, and minorities. The first reason being where it was published The Nation. The
nation is considered to be the flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about
page. Secondly, her arguments tend to have a one sided feel which works well for people who would
or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the more frequent stoppage of
Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a minority herself, being Native American.
Her style is unique in that it has the feeling of a story. The first reason being her use of anecdotal

New Year Eve Party Essay
New Year s Eve has become one of the biggest days of the year for parties and events throughout the
world. Therefore, an unlimited amount of events are planned and executed on the last day of the year;
this year I attended a New Year eve party at the house of a co worker. The party was held in a
neighborhood just inside the city of Charlotte. It has been a while since I attended a house party, so
there are some aspects that come along with a house party that will increase the amount of risk
associated with the staging of the New Year Eve party. The name of the event was Shari and Cue s

The event was held at a house so the facility was well managed. There was one entrance into the
basement, which led to the crowd being forced to use the same stairway to enter and exit the through
the same area. I would have suggested that the event planners had selected another venue to hold the
party because the party had a cramped feeling to it. Therefore, the exit and entrance was clearly
marked, but it was a lack of actually signs used to identify the exit and entrance. The nature of the
event made the need for security to be moot, everyone that was invited to the event was friends of the
party host. Thus, security may have been overkill at an event of this scale. The event was lacking ADA
accommodations, if there was an attendee that need ADA accommodations to make to the basement
where the majority of the activities were being held, then the lack of wheelchair access would have
been an issue. When planning an event, the scale and scope of the event is vital to consider the size of
the crowd that will be attending the event. The New Year Eve party had between 50 60 attendees
throughout the course of the event. Based on the information provided by the event planner, there was
probably 15 more guest than they initial planned to host at the party. The location of the event caused
the flow of the traffic to become a possible issue. When holding an event in a private neighborhood,

lunging, biting, crushing, dismembering, and swallowing. According to the study, an alligators

inebriated human. Don t let an alligator s easygoing appearance fool you, Sawyer says. These

expert in the field, alligator wrestling is something Strong suggests should be undertaken only by
professionals. For drunkards interested in proving there mettle with alligators, the researchers
proposed certain guidelines. Instead of baiting an alligator, they suggest seeking another form of

Why Was 1968 A Turning Point In The Vietnam War
Wesley Badger History 1968 is regarded by some historians as a turning point in the Vietnam war and
the beginning of the defeat for the US army. To a large extent this is a valid assessment of the defeat of
the US army in the war. This is largely due to the Tet offensive in 1968. However one can one can
argue that the US was already on course to lose the war before 1968. The Tet offensive of 1968 is
regarded as a major turning point in the Vietnam War and certainly shifted the momentum of the war
in favour of the Viet Cong. The Tet offensive was surprise attack launched by the Viet Cong and

Importance Of Marine Pollution
The marine ecosystems are hugely critical for Earth and its living organisms which holds the plant that
produces most of the oxygen on earth. Without oxygen many animals would not be able to breath or
even exist. The marine ecosystems have been polluted vastly which is altering the marine population.
Who is at fault for the pollution? The inhabitants of Earth. Fortunately for earth there are ways of
preventing this form of pollution.

The marine ecosystems are located in the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and the Arctic oceans. The National

This is also called global warming which also affects the marine pollution by causing ice sheets and
glaciers to melt rising which also causes sea levels to rise to the point where coastal regions would
flood. Not all air pollution is caused by humans. Natural disasters such as a volcano erupting can
throw out ashes and gases into the atmosphere. Which can lead to light pollution as well by darkening
the sky. Air pollution comes from fossil fuels, coal, smog, and oil. Smog which has nitrogen oxide,
sulfur dioxide, and hydrocarbons can make breathing difficult for the old and the young. Another act
caused by air pollution is acid rain which causes damage in forests and lakes. Water pollution has
many harmful chemicals and can be very deceiving to the eye. Water will appear clean but will
actually not be clean. What contributes to water pollution is oil spills, mining, acid mine drainage, and
sulfur. Drinking contaminated water can expose creatures to harmful chemicals that will affect them
for years or make them sick. The united nations estimates that around 4000 children die of drinking
contaminated water. Fish that are exposed to contaminated water are unsafe to eat and will cause
illness. Land pollution also has many of the same pollutants as water which leaves the soil with
harmful chemicals. Pesticides, contaminated soil, and fertilizers can affect the plants that bear fruits,
animals that eat the fruit, and

Comparison Of Paul Revere s Ride And The Other Riders

were many similarities between the two texts, such as settings, events, and characters, there were also

purpose, text structure, and differences in facts. The first difference, the author s purpose between the
two texts were different. Paul Revere s Ride was to entertain and inform. An example from Paul

Summary Of Rock N Roll Changed America By Glen Altschuler
Music has been a major part of the American life in the United States since its victory for
independence against the British in the later part of the 18th century. As time, has passed in the United
States different verities of music appeared and with each new verity came a changed that ushered in a
new style of music. The 1940 s to the 1960 s was a time when the genre of music called Rock n Roll
appeared and along with its appearance came conflicts and arguments. Glen Altschuler in his book, All
Shook Up: How Rock N Roll Changed America, does a tremendous job at providing an analytic and

This was most likely my favorite part of the book. I grew up knowing that rock n roll was connected
to race during its emergence, but I did not know that the songs were considered sexually back then.
Artists of the 1940 s, 1950 and 1960 s were criticized for their songs that seem to promote sexuality.
Altschuler uses good examples in the book by providing songs that had sexual lyrics like the song
Sixty Minute Man, written by the Dominoes. The lyrics went as There ll be fifteen minutes of kissin /
Then you ll holler, please don t stop / There will be fifteen minutes of teasin , /And fifteen minutes of
squeezin / And fifteen minutes of blowin my top (pg. 86). Another set of lyrics that were criticized
were from a song called Sexy Ways by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters. The lyrics went as written
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle / I just love your sexy ways; / Upside down, all around, / Any old way, just
pound, pound, pound (pg. 87). These sexual lyrics threw the parents into a panic during this time,
because they thought that these lyrics were going to promote their children to go and have sex before
wedlock. Which was a big thing during this time because through religion children were taught not to
have sex before they were married. The parents and communities even went as far to visit the radio
stations, record stores, and the record distributors and ask that for a ban on the production, the

The European Union (EU) has introduced and enacted a privacy law that protects all of its member
countries citizens from both governmental and commercial misuse of citizens personal data.
Meanwhile, the U.S. has been busy with protecting its businesses (e.g. passing laws such as DMCA,
et. al.). Of course, that is not to say that no steps toward achieving a better privacy have been made by
the U.S.
On April 21, 2000, Children s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) has come into effect[3]. This
law states that no information about children under the age of 13 may be collected without prior
parents consent[4]. Theoretically, the law only allows the data to be used as described to the parent. In
practice, however, it does not prevent the operator (i.e. the collector of the information) from using the
data in any way they like so long as they mention the way of using the data. The reason for that is that
many parents do not read the agreement, and in some instances, the child accessing the website is
asked whether they have their parents permission, to which they just answer yes without actually
checking in with their parent or legal guardian. It is partially due to those reasons that some companies
have started overcompensating for the law; for instance, AOL has disabled accounts for all users that
have specified that they are less than 13 years of age[5]. Currently, the service is restricted to 13 and
over users, which, as already

A Cod Forsaken Place
The term knowledge is power is attributed to Sir Francis Bacon, and has been prominently used
throughout the years since. When the term is used in modern day, it is often thought of as becoming
more knowledgeable about certain topics, allowing one to make more informed decisions.
Furthermore, this leaves the term power with a connotation revolving around doing good, or using the
power for the greater good. However, when it comes to down to environmental issues, it is often not
the case. The notion of the tragedy of the commons is also relevant, as people who obtain knowledge
on environmental issues will often attend to their own self interest, rather than using the knowledge to
increase environmental sustainability. Conclusively, when it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, when examining environmental sustainability, it does not seem to be the case. When people
are faced with knowledge in relation to natural resources that may be sold for personal capital, people
are quick to exploit the resource without taking the environment into consideration. For example, it
can be presumed that if people did not have knowledge of the abundance of cod in Newfoundland in
the 1960 s, the environment would have been thriving in that area to this day. Similarly, a notion that
was present in Davis article is the tragedy of the commons. This plays a key role when looking at the
environment today, in a capitalist world. Furthermore, people are often too caught up in extending
their own enterprises to even consider the potential effects that certain acts can have on the
environment. On the other hand, there are people who obtain knowledge on something that is harming
the environment, yet they do not act on that knowledge or do anything to mitigate the damage. In the
modern world and especially western society, people will easily put their needs above the environment
from which we live. Therefore, from a sustainability point of view, knowledge is not

Illegal Immigration Should Not Be Illegal
Every year there are around the same amount of immigrants entering the United States from Mexico
as there are tourists. However, there is a difference; immigrants tend to be illegal unlike tourists and
their passports. Ever since the United States offered what was said to be a new life for immigrants,
they have been showing up illegally. There has been the same amount of opportunities as there are
obstacles to overcome. Immigration at the U.S. and Mexican border has been a hot topic for decades
now. Illegal immigration has not completely shown positive or negative effects on the economy, but
more of a combination of the two.
Illegal immigrants come to the U.S. to seek for better jobs, they tend to accept any job they are

This also includes the fact that aliens work higher than the maximum hours. However, the employer
and the illegal immigrant must agree on a contract so the employer does not have to pay for the
income or pay taxes. In America, businesses get cheap work benefiting themselves economically
speaking, and illegal immigrants need of money makes this happen.
Working as a maid, mowing lawns, farming, washing dishes in a restaurant or a hotel are a few
examples of what illegal immigrants work as. These jobs are paid below the minimum wage. People
don t worry about having to clean their house because if they are part of the upper class then they can
easily hire an illegal immigrant that will do it for about anything in return. According to Victor Davis
Hanson from the NationalReview, he said [. . .] the member of the blue state elite envisions himself
not as an exploiter of cheap labor, but rather more as a benefactor of the greater social good. This is
basically saying that the Blue state elite member, (the upper class person) is not admitting that he does
not take advantage of illegal immigrants working for little money, instead he is gaining benefits
because of it. Upper class men are able to save money on such maids and others. Not only is this good
from an individuals economical view, but for everyone socially. This is a way

Critical Analysis Of Wallace Stevens s The Inhabitants
The daily ritual of leaving work in the city to arrive home in the suburbs has been masterfully depicted
in the poem, The Inhabitants. By taking the New Critical analysis approach in using scientific theory,
we can unpack its meaning through a defined system self contained within the text. In our analysis of
The Inhabitants we take a structuralism approach. Structuralism as defined by Mary Klages, in her
book Literary Theory: A Guide for the Perplexed, is a way of thinking that works to find the
fundamental basis units or elements of which anything is made. (p 31). The number 5 is a very
powerful prime number. Taking a closer look at the poem, we see the power of the 5 paradigm and
how it plays a crucial role in unlocking the poem s very meaning. Similarly, in our class exercise we
utilized the work of Wallace Stevens, A Postcard From the Volcano , and reduced the story to its bare
bones. Getting to the basics of Guest s piece, we can simply start with its structural rhythm of five
stanzas. Each stanza is a self contained unit that describes the transition from the city to the suburbs.
In the first stanza the descriptive is of the onset of departing office workers pilgrimage, Like people in
an opera on the street, gracefully orchestrate an orderly descent from their office building to the bus
stop. Not the mad dash out the door that school children make as their final school bell rings,
nonetheless just as anxious. Listen to the last line of the first stanza,

Comparing The Civil Rights Movement And The Feminist Movement
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the United States encountered a variety of different mass social
movements that rediscovered the definition of America. Mostly, the different social movements
demonstrated a fight for equality and freedom, while others protested against government decisions.
Participants of these different social movements underwent a great deal of discrimination and violence
from fellow Americans to fight for their rights as American citizens. Two major social movements
during this time were the Civil Rights Movement and the Feminist Movement. Both of these
movements outlined a cry for freedom and a demand for equality amongst their different groups. The
Civil Rights Movement made a huge impact on the social status of African Americans, therefore, it
lead to the rise of other social movements to fight for their rights as well, such as the Feminist
Movement. The Civil Rights Movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was the African American

fair to say that the Civil rights movement was an influence for many of the mass social movement
during this time in history. Betty Friedan wrote, There is no civil rights movement to speak for
women, as there has been for Negroes and other victims of discrimination. The National Organization
for Women must therefore begin to speak (Reader 177, p.298 299). She is essentially saying that
women have to create their own civil rights movement because there is not one that involves
discrimination of women. This further explains that the Feminist Movement stemmed from the Civil

Commodity Racism
I watched the first black mirror episode and then the episode 3 (episode 1 stood out the most). One of
the first things that stood out to right from the beginning was how they tried to make it a really future
type feel, these episodes were actually really hard for me to watch because of the fact that our world
could turn out to be like the episodes where no one knows the world out side of their phone. In the
first episode a few terms that stood out to me was commodity fetishism, Hyper real, and a major one
was satire.
The first term that showed the most to me was commodity fetishism which is exchange value via

distorting or exaggerating reality. pertaining to or creating a hyper reality. This was really big when
she started to look in the mirror and laugh different ways and she automatically got a response on how
people would rate her based on how her laugh and how she looked was. Another part was when her
son was on the couch playing a video game with the virtual reality headset which made the rest of the
world invisible. When his mother walked in and asked him a question he had no clue that she asked
him a question, this also relates to when they were getting tea and how everyone was on there phone
and not talking to other people they were living their world through their phone. This is probably the
most realistic term that relates the episodes to the real life today. With the invention of the virtual
reality headsets this is one thing I could see and already seeing become a reality. Another part where
you saw this in the episode was when she meet the people going to tranquility con, those people were
living in a world where they characters not living in the real world and this is something we already
see today
Satire was one of the terms that I was the most in the videos. Satire means a humorous critique this
happened a lot in the episodes where people would rate someone and whether it be a good or bad
critique they would act like they are friends and put on a fake act to look happy. This tv show is what I

Social Justice And Government By Karl Marx
Social Justice and Government
The view of social justice in today s society may be different depending on who you are, what religion
you come from, or even the culture in which you were raised. According to the Catholic Church and
its social teachings, the view of social justice is talked about in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
It is viewed as the condition that allows individuals and associations to gain what is their due,
according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church s stance on social justice. Since individuals are
already created equally through God, therefore the perfect form of social justice is an environment
where the individual is able to reach their full human potential. The Industrial Revolution that started
in the 1780 s in Great Britain had many effects, but they were not fully felt until the 1830 s or 1840 s.
The works done by Karl Marx talks about how the classless system was not the ideal form of
government in Europe. Karl Marx formed and developed the modern day popular form of social
justice known as Marxism or socialism. Marx s problem with the struggles of social justice and
society during his time era were that he could not accept the form of politics such as the classless
system at that time and on the rebound he introduced his idealism. Marx also unified the theory of
social justice with the practical beliefs that human activity is key. Marx s approach to social justice is
based on human relations as free from exploitation,

1. Question #1.

warehouse.
To design a single warehouse network, I would need to determine the optimal location of the
warehouse, its overall capacity, and the amount of space that will be allocated for each SKU or
product. A warehouse that is not strategically located in an equidistance manner to each region may
cause higher than normal transportation costs. If capacity is too low, inbound shipments could be
delayed and service levels will decline.

shipments to reduce transportation costs and improve service levels. The warehouse will be designed

5. Proposed location of the new warehouse and transportation distances from the new location to each

service levels and lower inventory holding costs due to aggregating customer demand and pooling

hold excess inventory in a regional warehouse; the variation in demand will balance out and reduce
the requirements for excess inventory. Additionally, the fixed costs of maintaining one central
warehouse/distribution center will be lower than five regional warehouses. The disadvantages are
higher outbound transportation costs. Even with a strategic warehouse location, such as Kentucky,
there will bound to be retail outlets farther than others, such as San

When a loved when is gone it feels like a hole in the world. With much grief he says, Never again will
anyone inhabit the world the way he did. Questions I have can never now get answers. The world is
emptier. My son is gone. Only a hole remains, Avoid, a gap, never to be filled (33). This phrase
describes his emotions and how he views the world without his son. The author gives advice on what
to say to someone who is mourning. He says to never say its Ok because its never okay and death is
awful. What I need to hear from you is that you recognize how painful it is. I need to hear from you
that you are with me in my desperation (34). When some passes away no one really knows what his or

words don t even make the pain go away, and all that can be done is lending an ear to listen, a
shoulder to lean on.
When there is nothing one can do to make things better again, to bring someone back, to be happy
again, all your left is emptiness. The author feels like something is over and that his life is divided in a
before and after. Something is over (46). The author goes on to have an out of body experience where
he attaches himself to Eric. He realizes that Eric s death is not only his loss but also Eric s loss
because he will never be able to do things he always wanted to do or be with his family again. The

Importance Of The Pillars Of Public Administration
Pillars of Public Administration and Application to PA Leadership
Understanding the pillars of public administration is a vital way for leaders to gain perspective when
leading successfully. Among these six pillars of public administration, the leadership style addresses a
connection with any civic organization.
Politics/administration dichotomy when viewing this opposition, it should be seen as politicians
writing and making rules while bureaucrats implement and put in place the policies and programs for
the public to utilize. Administration and politics are seen as two separate components where they
should not interface with one another. Even with them being a separate field of study, they have no
choice but to integrate. As Woodrow Wilson looked at how politics and administration were forming,
he felt the importance of government employees conduct themselves in a professional business
manner while ensuring their accountability of providing proper services to the people and not partake
in political philosophies. Politics are aligned with elected officials who write and pass the policies to
be implemented by government agencies which are then applied by civil servants. By achieving this
responsibility, public sector employees are required to embrace the values and principles to ensure
efficiency, legitimacy, and fairness within any level of government. Therefore, public administrators
are seen to uphold integrity within government, be liable to the public and

What Is The Purpose Of Universal Education Dbq
In 1630, John Winthrop dreamt that America was a City on the Hill , predestined for preeminence. In
1776, the American Colonies proclaimed independence with the affirmation that all men are equal,
free, and blessed with the sacred rights to life, liberty, and happiness. These uniquely American ideals
ideals characterized the young democracy in contrast to the oppressive monarchies of Europe.
European citizens saw the correlation between America s greatness and its democratic principles. The
liberties that America furnished to all men, regardless of status, gave citizens pride in their nation and
drew envy from constituents of tyrannical monarchies. The notions of equality and freedom, however,
did not extend to all of America s population; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, in 1846, Horace Mann, a Whig politician and education reformist asserted that a superior
and universal law had dictated every human being, regardless of race or gender, deserved access to
education and that it was the obligation of government to provide this (Doc 3). Horace Mann,
regarded as the most devoted education reformist and a respected Whig, could or did not pass any
national legislation to spread universal education. Additionally, during the Antebellum era, there were
2 whig presidents, Harrison and Taylor, and Whigs dominated both congressional houses during their
presidencies; so education reform should have passed easily. In reality, Mann s narrative of universal
education for the purposes of creating a culture of virtuous principles was not fulfilled during the
Antebellum era. Apparently, many reformists believed more in promoting a virtuous image of the U.S.
than in pursuing laws to cement reforms. In 1841 Ralph Waldo Emerson lectured a Library association
of Mechanic s apprentices that What is a man born for but to be a Reformer... a renouncer of lies; a
restorer of truth and good, imitating that great Nature... (Doc 2). Emerson, a 2nd Great Awakening
lecturer emphasizes the goodness that results from reforms, a minor distinction from democratic
ideals. Emerson does not mention equality or freedom as suitable motivations for reformists, rather, he
emphasized reforming because it makes the reformer appear virtuous. As a prominent speaker,
Emerson convinces that the primary concern of the apprentices in his audience is their self image, not
spreading suffrage, liberty or equality

  • 2. Dual Immigrants It is not recommended that Lars come to the U.S. on his tourist visa. The problem with using coming on tourist visa and getting married immediately is the legal concept of dual intent. At the time a person enters the U.S. they cannot have both (1) the intent to return to their home country and (2) at the same time, intend to remain in the U.S. as the spouse of a U.S. citizen. An entry as a tourist legally requires that you are entering with the intention of returning to your permanent home abroad, not to enter as a tourist, get married, and remain here to apply for a green card. If you file within 30 days, there is a rebuttable presumption that you wanted to stay in the U.S.. If you file more than 30 days but less than 60 days after entry into ... The life of Hawking is full of ups and downs, peaks and valleys, enlightened intelligence, and devastating disabilities. (I m still working on this bit) Stephen Hawking was born on January 8, 1942 in Oxford, England. His parents Frank and Isobel Hawking resided in London, though because World War II was in full swing at this point, they decided along with many others, that it would be safer to raise a family in Oxford. Both of his parents were well educated, had a hunger for travel, and were involved in political activism. They passed their enthusiasm and passion for these things onto their children.Witherbee, Amy. Stephen Hawking. Stephen Hawking (Great Neck Publishing) (2006): 1. MasterFILE Premier. Web. 13 Oct. 2015.) Hawking began his studies in the spring of 1958, at a private school near his home. • 6. Persuasive Essay On A Separate Peace Peace is very complex. It could happen when your young, or when your older and more experienced. Peace can come from bright times or dark time, such as death. In the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles Gene finds peace in a very odd way. He has a quite separate peace from everyone else. Staring off as one piece, braking off into a separate piece, and finally finding a separate peace, Gene discovers he is himself, and not Finny. Without peace, people become discombobulated. Before the casualty, Gene believes that he is Finny. They are one piece that cannot be separated. If one of them fails to do something, it is the job of the other to succeed. We see this when Gene puts on Finny s cloths when he is gone. I never forgot, and that evening I put on his cordovan shoes, his pants, and I looked for and finally found his pink shirt, neatly laundered in a drawer.... But when I looked in the mirror it was no remote aristocrat I had become, no character out of daydreams. I was Phineas (Knowles 62). In addition to looking the part, he plays the part. When Finny breaks his leg and can no longer be himself and play sports, Gene takes this role. Finny even starts to train him for the 1944 Olympics, in exchange Gene tutors him. To add on to all of this, the even leap from the tree together, as one. This causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finny dies and Gene is left alone and a separate piece from Finny. • 7. Reviewing The Contractual Implications Of Coffee Importers... I have been asked to advise Daily Grind Ltd regarding the contractual implications of their decision to discontinue paying commission of 6.5% of the sale price of Moondollar products in New Zealand to Fixit Ltd as per their contract, as a result of Messrs Waugh and Greene (the owners of Daily Grind Ltd) restructuring their business. Messrs Waugh and Greene incorporated a new company Coffee Importers Ltd to import and on sell Moondollar products in New Zealand. Of particular concern is whether Coffee Importers Ltd is an associated entity of Daily Grind Ltd, and if so, is Daily Grind Ltd or Coffee Importers Ltd liable to pay the commission. This opinion concludes that Coffee Importers Ltd is an associated entity, and that Daily Grind Ltd is still liable to pay the commission. I Relevant Facts Daily Grind Ltd entered into a contract with Fixit Ltd, which provided that Fixit Ltd would assist and advocate for Daily Grind Ltd with the purpose of securing the master franchise for Moondollars Coffee in New Zealand. Upon securing the master franchise Daily Grind Ltd would pay to Fixit Ltd 650,000USD. Further, Messrs Waugh and Greene would pay Fixit Ltd 4% of the sale price of any of their ownership interests in Daily Grind Ltd. Lastly, at clause 4.2.1, Daily Grind Ltd will pay Fixit Ltd 6.5% in commission of the sale price for Moondollar products which is imported into New Zealand to their franchisees. • 8. Animal Rights Against Animals And The Land Ethic Drawing on animal rights claims, the questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this essay seeks to argue that zoos; a place in which wild animal s are held in captivity, are inherently unethical, because they violate the ethical and moral standard in which animals have a claim to. Citing experts in the animal ethics field, this essay will be supported by firstly establishing that animals do in fact have animal rights and similarly, that they have a claim to a moral status relative to that of humans. Following this, this essay will show that the animal rights, which zoo animals are privy to, allows us to set an ethical standard on which humans have a duty to treat animals, especially when held in captivity. Analyzing this ethical standard with which me must treat zoo animals, we can deduce that zoos are in fact not ethical in nature and in practice. The starting point of this essay is to establish and lay out an animal rights claim. The point here is not to solely list which specific rights animals have, as that goes beyond the scope of this essay, but to discuss why animals do in fact have a claim to rights, and what this means for humans. The need to understand the intrinsic, or inherent value of animals allows us to see the base from which their claim to rights is derived. Inherent value refers to the idea that animals are valuable in themselves, not in what they provide us. Tom Regan, an animal ethicist, sets out the moral grounding from which we can ... • 10. Determination In The Bravest Girl In The World Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough Og Mandino. Og Mandino is saying that if someone has a strong determination to succeed they will never fail. Determination means a firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end. The word determination is from the Middle English, the Anglo French determiner, and from the Latin determinare. Synonyms are used to help people better understand a word. The synonyms for determination include resolution, decisiveness, and persistency. Hesitation, indecision, and irresoluteness are antonyms to the word determination. • 11. The Effect Of Temperature On Membrane Permeability The objective and the main purpose of this experiment were to determine the effects of temperature on membrane permeability. Physical treatment on membrane permeability with its effects on the basis of the known chemical composition of the membrane was investigated. The major result of this experiment was the maximum membrane permeability was determined by the maximum absorbance value. Also the membrane becomes more permeable at higher temperature, which was the expected result considering the fact that the protein denatured at higher temperature and phospholipid became less stable because its shape and structure changed. As figure.1 states the result of this experiment as temperature increases, the mean absorbance value increases as well (Reece et al., 2014). All of phospholipid bilayers, proteins and carbohydrates together constitute the biological membrane. Each of these members of biological membrane has separate individual task. The task of phospholipid bilayer is to make up the cell membrane. Phospholipids are made up of two fatty acids and long chain of hydrogen and carbon, which are, attach to glycerol head. The glycerol molecule is also attached to phosphate group and this is the hydrophilic part of the molecule. The tail ends on the fatty acid chain, opposite the glycerol are hydrophobic part of the molecule. The phospholipid releases a barrier to prevent the passage from chemical and waste products. • 12. Analysis of Mise-En-Scene in the Film American Beauty Essay How does mise en scene create meaning and provoke response in the opening of American Beauty? The opening scene of American Beauty shows a teenage girl lying in a bed, venting her feelings towards her father. In this, the audience sees her in dull clothing and colours, minimal make up and has greasy looking hair. As she sits up, her hair falls around her face and she stares directly into the camera, giving a sense of unease to the audience. The next shot is an establishing shot, showing the street where the main character, Leister, lives. Its fall/autumn time and the trees are bare or dying, possibly indicating and foreshadowing a death later on in the movie. Also the streets are very linear, all vertical and in uniform, as it were. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This opening introduces the family s lifestyle and sets the scene for the audience, from the shot following Leister s shower, the audience gets the sense that the wife is the head of the house as she gardens in a bright, contemporary looking garden. The camera goes to a close up on the rose as the woman clips it from the bush. This rose is called American Beauty which is also the name of the film. She is dressed in a plain grey suit and a clean white apron, again fitting in with the colour scheme of the interior decor. She also wears pearl earrings and a pearl necklace with her hair perfectly framing this and has impeccable make up, indicating what the perfect American housewife should resemble. She also converses with the homosexual neighbours about the secret to her roses flourishing so well; she seems happy and overly enthusiastic. The audience then see a shot of Leister, again, enclosed in an environment this time the window. The audience sees him behind the window panes, in between two bright blue shutters, indicating his isolation and loneliness within his own home. The colour blue is also an interesting choice by the director. Blue suggests calm and tranquillity within the home, and also reflects on the colour of the perfect blue sky. • 13. The Border Patrol State Summary Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine. In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos. Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone through a similar experience, and minorities. The first reason being where it was published The Nation. The nation is considered to be the flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about page. Secondly, her arguments tend to have a one sided feel which works well for people who would or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the more frequent stoppage of Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a minority herself, being Native American. Her style is unique in that it has the feeling of a story. The first reason being her use of anecdotal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The party was held in a neighborhood just inside the city of Charlotte. It has been a while since I attended a house party, so there are some aspects that come along with a house party that will increase the amount of risk associated with the staging of the New Year Eve party. The name of the event was Shari and Cue s New Year Eve party; the event was held on December 31, 2015. The party started at 9:00pm, and was scheduled to end at 2:00 am January 1, 2016. However ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The event was held at a house so the facility was well managed. There was one entrance into the basement, which led to the crowd being forced to use the same stairway to enter and exit the through the same area. I would have suggested that the event planners had selected another venue to hold the party because the party had a cramped feeling to it. Therefore, the exit and entrance was clearly marked, but it was a lack of actually signs used to identify the exit and entrance. The nature of the event made the need for security to be moot, everyone that was invited to the event was friends of the party host. Thus, security may have been overkill at an event of this scale. The event was lacking ADA accommodations, if there was an attendee that need ADA accommodations to make to the basement where the majority of the activities were being held, then the lack of wheelchair access would have been an issue. When planning an event, the scale and scope of the event is vital to consider the size of the crowd that will be attending the event. The New Year Eve party had between 50 60 attendees throughout the course of the event. Based on the information provided by the event planner, there was probably 15 more guest than they initial planned to host at the party. To a large extent this is a valid assessment of the defeat of the US army in the war. This is largely due to the Tet offensive in 1968. However one can one can argue that the US was already on course to lose the war before 1968. Artists of the 1940 s, 1950 and 1960 s were criticized for their songs that seem to promote sexuality. Altschuler uses good examples in the book by providing songs that had sexual lyrics like the song Sixty Minute Man, written by the Dominoes. The lyrics went as There ll be fifteen minutes of kissin / Then you ll holler, please don t stop / There will be fifteen minutes of teasin , /And fifteen minutes of squeezin / And fifteen minutes of blowin my top (pg. 86). Another set of lyrics that were criticized were from a song called Sexy Ways by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters. The lyrics went as written Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle / I just love your sexy ways; / Upside down, all around, / Any old way, just pound, pound, pound (pg. 87). These sexual lyrics threw the parents into a panic during this time, because they thought that these lyrics were going to promote their children to go and have sex before wedlock. Meanwhile, the U.S. has been busy with protecting its businesses (e.g. passing laws such as DMCA, et. al.). Of course, that is not to say that no steps toward achieving a better privacy have been made by the U.S. On April 21, 2000, Children s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) has come into effect[3]. This law states that no information about children under the age of 13 may be collected without prior parents consent[4]. Theoretically, the law only allows the data to be used as described to the parent. In practice, however, it does not prevent the operator (i.e. the collector of the information) from using the data in any way they like so long as they mention the way of using the data. The reason for that is that many parents do not read the agreement, and in some instances, the child accessing the website is asked whether they have their parents permission, to which they just answer yes without actually checking in with their parent or legal guardian. It is partially due to those reasons that some companies have started overcompensating for the law; for instance, AOL has disabled accounts for all users that have specified that they are less than 13 years of age[5]. When people are faced with knowledge in relation to natural resources that may be sold for personal capital, people are quick to exploit the resource without taking the environment into consideration. Similarly, a notion that was present in Davis article is the tragedy of the commons. This plays a key role when looking at the environment today, in a capitalist world. Furthermore, people are often too caught up in extending their own enterprises to even consider the potential effects that certain acts can have on the environment. On the other hand, there are people who obtain knowledge on something that is harming the environment, yet they do not act on that knowledge or do anything to mitigate the damage. By taking the New Critical analysis approach in using scientific theory, we can unpack its meaning through a defined system self contained within the text. In our analysis of The Inhabitants we take a structuralism approach. Structuralism as defined by Mary Klages, in her book Literary Theory: A Guide for the Perplexed, is a way of thinking that works to find the fundamental basis units or elements of which anything is made. Importance Of The Pillars Of Public Administration Pillars of Public Administration and Application to PA Leadership Understanding the pillars of public administration is a vital way for leaders to gain perspective when leading successfully. Among these six pillars of public administration, the leadership style addresses a connection with any civic organization. Politics/administration dichotomy when viewing this opposition, it should be seen as politicians writing and making rules while bureaucrats implement and put in place the policies and programs for the public to utilize. Administration and politics are seen as two separate components where they should not interface with one another. Even with them being a separate field of study, they have no choice but to integrate. As Woodrow Wilson looked at how politics and administration were forming, he felt the importance of government employees conduct themselves in a professional business manner while ensuring their accountability of providing proper services to the people and not partake in political philosophies.
