Nelson Mandela Essay
Activist, lawyer, father, prisoner, survivor, president, the face of equality. Nelson Mandela has an
inspiring story of fighting Apartheid forces and surviving a long prison sentence all in the name of
freedom and equal rights. Through Nelson Mandela s constant fight for freedom of the African
people from white apartheid forces, he was dominated by the corrupt government. After uprising
numerous riots against apartheid forces, Mandela was sent to jail for twenty seven years revealing
the cruelty that humans can possess. With the strong will power and complete support of the
African people, Mandela survived his prison sentence and became the first democratically elected

The police retaliated sporadically shooting everybody in sight...sixty nine dead, one hundred and
eighty injured (Humanitarians and Reformers 184).The vicious annihilations were named the
Sharpville massacre (Humanitarians and Reformers 183). These events created a work boycott
amongst the African community which in turn caused the government to claim that they were in a
state of emergency, shutting down the entire country. Arrest warrants were sent out for PAC and
ANC members, which included Nelson Mandela (Humanitarians and Reformers 184). In retaliation,
the ANC asked Mandela to lead a coalition to bring resistance against the Apartheid government and
perform guerrilla warfare tactics. This didn t last very long because in August of 1962 Mandela was
arrested for uprising a riot and escaping the country without permission. Mandela was incarcerated
for twenty seven years in dangerous/inhumane conditions. From the Sharpville massacre to the
lengthy imprisonment, Nelson Mandela faced dangers and challenges from the Apartheid that he
had to fight through and endure exposing the strength that humans really do harbor.
The Sharpville massacre and the unlawful imprisonment of Nelson Mandela can be directly related
to the unlawful Apartheid rule which exposes the viciousness of human nature. The fact that
Nelson Mandela was standing up for his and the African people s human rights that were being

The Migrant Worker Lifestyle Can Be Largely Explained As A...
The migrant worker lifestyle can be largely explained as a subculture. These people have their
own values and behaviors that distinguish themselves from the average American. The migrant
workers work for little pay, and believe that hard work will pay off for them. They travel north
and south and across the United States following the harvests of different crops so they can
work and get paid. The one thing that sets this apart from the larger culture is that they are not
following around the easiest or the highest paying work. They are following some of the hardest
and lowest paying work that can be found. This is what sets their values and behaviors apart
from the rest of the United States. These people live and grow up in a completely different world
than the average American child. They start working at in their preteen years and do not stop
working until their bodies won t let them anymore. The children do not get forced into labor that
early although many are. They choose to do it on their own because they have a desire to help
their family out. This is not common among the average American household. In fact, most of the
country would rise in an uproar if white children were found to be doing this sort of work, but it
seems an exception has been made for these ones. The lifestyle that these people live is very
different from the one the average American lives which makes their lifestyle a subculture inside
our larger American culture. Their experiences in life give

With the increase of video games and violence is there a connection between the two? With all

United Nations Security Council Resolution
Abstract
This paper evaluates the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 242 with regard to
its historical background, interpretations, aftermath, present status, and legal ramifications. UNSCR
242 was drafted after the Six Day war between Israel and Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. This resolution
is the bedrock of further treaties that were signed. According to the resolution, Israel is supposed to
return the captured land, however, due to a conflict of interpretation, there has been several
arguments on when and how the land should be returned. The merits of this resolution and the
prospective solutions offered are still debated to this day. The treaties and declarations following
UNSCR 242, arguably, compel us to believe that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the interpretation, historical background, status and ramifications have been discussed, the
fog clears away to understand that the UN Security Council Resolution is a failure to achieve peace,
unless both Israel and the Palestinian authorities are willing to compromise.
Discussion
History: The historical background to the war can be traced to the actions of the Egyptian
president Nasser. Nasser had asked UN Secretary General U Thant to remove the UN peace
keeping force from Egypt . When the UN had withdrawn its forces there had been three
developments that took place. The first development was a rising tide of guerrilla activity against
Israeli targets by Palestinians . Secondly, Israeli response since its inception had to retaliate harshly
for Arab attacks or ceasefire violations . Thirdly, the rumor that Israeli troops were gathering near
the Syrian border raised tensions .
The Syrian Ba th party also had a view towards the Arab Israeli conflict that exasperated the
situation between the Israelis and her neighbors. They maintained that the solution to the problem
was by exterminating the Israeli state and restoring the land that had been taken away from its
owners, apply all means needed to prevent Israel from making any new gains, and

Fountain Valley Research Paper
City of Fountain Valley The common public recreation and leisure service is city provides

researched fifteen city activities, that city recreation center is provided to residents, from three
different cities. Interestingly cities are afforded unique classes to residents like fashion makeup

I think providing opportunities to socialize and have adventures are a great strength of the
recreation center, because residents could easily participate new activities with moderate price and
near their houses. Christie graduated CSULB with Recreation major, but did not get any
certification to become a recreation service supervisor at the city of Fountain Valley. When she was
little, local parks had summer programs and socialized with with kids a lot. She wanted to give
similar opportunities to current children, therefore, she put more attention into kids programs like
dancing class, football program, baseball class and etc. City of Fountain Valley is providing various
sports, education, arts, and health programs from youth to seniors. Christie said she loves working
with youth and activities that she could learn new adventures. Currently, contracted classes, which
is hiring companies, are booming because those are more efficient and cheaper. Usually, companies
provide basketball, softball, and other classes. In addition, intergenerational program is a hot trend.
Through intergenerational program, parents are remembering their kids moment, and spending
time with their children. Intergenerational program levels are the entry levels, so both generations
could learn easily and enjoy their family time. It was a great experience to know that city

Trapped In The Chosen
In society today people can feel trapped by many different things like expectations and rules. In
the book the chosen, by Chium Potok Danny feels trapped by his strict religious rules and
traditions and by the expectations of his father and his father s congregation. Reuven uses an
analogy in the story about a spider and a fly. The fly is trapped in the web of the spider and can t
get out. When Rueven sees this he thinks of Danny. Feeling trapped is a very normal feeling for
people today because of the way society works. The perfect image is something that can come up
a lot when one thinks about being trapped. The world today has expectations of how one should
look, dress, carry themselves, and feel. These perfect ideals that society... Show more content on

Religion can be a very helpful think in ones life until it becomes a burden because a person has
disconnected from what really matters and is focused on perfectly following everything
according to traditions and rules. In the chosen, that is one thing that did trap Danny because he
never found beauty in his faith. Danny and his father are having a conflict about faith a because
Danny is next in line to become the tsaddik but that s not what Danny wants for his life. One
thing that puts a lot of burden on people is expectations from parents and the fact that one feels a
strong need to live up to them. When a parent puts expectations on their child instead of a
different adult the weight of those expectaions becomes ten times bigger and those children
begin to feel trapped. It is hard for a child to stand up to thei parents inthese situations so the
feelings of being trapped become greater. Sometimes that person just needs someone to give
them that push they need to get away from the feeling of being trapped. Rueven was that person
for Danny. In the story, when Rueven sees the spider web and te fly, he begins to feel sorry for
the struggleing fly so he blows on it to try to set it free so it could fly away. Danny only need that
extra push so he could truly become who he was meant to

Organization often looks the other way when making a decision regarding the process of their
product.
A lot of money would be used for solving the social problems. Most of the time, there is limited
money for that. Technical also been used to solving problems. So, in order to avoid the limited of
resources, most of the organizations will possess the resources (such as money and expertise)
needed to tackle social problems.
Analysis:
My analysis is that is in order to solve these social problems, the environment will need to be
cleaner. Our organization would benefit by contributing to assist in correcting these issues. The
company can use ethical decision making to secure the organization environmental responsibility.
Decisions that would allow for government agencies to get involved with the organization. For
instance if a company is proactive and follows the United States Environmental Protection
Agency‎ guidelines for emissions on dangerous pollutants and even goes an extra step to get
involved in the community and address those concerns that the public might have; they would be
less likely to have the EPA investigate them for environmental concerns.(Corporate social
responsibility, 2009).
This would produce a good image of the company to their stakeholders or other companies, the
confidence of consumer s increases, and favor to buy the goods from the company. The profit of
the company will increase eventually. Therefore, acts of assisting in

Essay about Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation was founded in 1863 when Mr. Henry Williams purchased Old
Fort Park and donated it to the city of Fort Wayne. Since then, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
has continued to grow acquiring 85 more parks which include Reservoir Park in 1880, Foster
Park golf course in 1928, Fort Wayne s Children s Zoo in 1962, the Botanical Conservatory in
1979 and more recently Robert E. Meyer s Park in 2008. This organization does much more for
the community than just taking care of the city s parks. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation also
hosts many activities in town including multiple different camps for children and young adults.

budgeted for and planned a way to help save this tree species. For the past couple years, biannual
Ash tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past
summer 647 Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them.
Because this treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated
the summer of 2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be
treated again in the summer of 2014. (City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Davey
Resource group was the lowest bidder and took on the project of treating the Ash trees. Davey
Resource Group provides a full range of natural resource and utility consulting services to the
commercial, residential, municipal and governmental markets. (Davey)
The question arose about the cost benefits of treating the tree versus cutting them down. It cost
approximately $43.00 to treat one tree versus the $400.00 to cut the tree down, grind the stump
away, and plant a new tree in its place. Even though many Ash trees have been saved by this
treatment, it was too late for some. So far 10,500 Ash trees have been cut down in the city of Fort
Wayne because they were attacked by the Ash Borer. This year another 2,447 will be cut down
also. Mudrack Tree Experts have

Character Analysis Of Moana
For this hero analysis, I chose to study Moana, the protagonist of the Disney film, Moana. The
story follows two storylines, Moana s, which is about her transition from childhood to
adulthood, and Maui s which follows his comeback from his ruined hero position. Moana is the
daughter of the chief of Motunui. From the start, Moana is taught to be a proper leader of her
tribe and is made to follow her father s footsteps. Although she loves her village and her people,
she craves to be by the sea and go beyond the reef. Moana embodies many of characteristics of a
romantic hero, is that she is human but is able to communicate and partially control the ocean, she
is helped by Maui and his demigod powers, and Te Fiti with her Goddess powers. Moana also has a
trait of a tragic hero, in that her flaw is how she doesn t know her true identity.
At a young age, Moana was chosen by the ocean who gave her the Heart of Te Fiti. As Moana is
only two years old and drops the stone and the heart is slowly forgotten. A few years later is
when Moana receives her call from the ocean. Her call to adventure is to travel beyond the reef,
which is forbidden in her village. Moana s father pushes that she needs nothing outside of her
village and that the island is her home. However, she still feels the pull from her call to adventure
beyond her reef. Moana s grandmother, on the other hand, pushes Moana s rebellion against the
reef rules and shows her a hidden cave full of boats and canoes from

As mention before, it is difficult for the players to achieved complete randomization on the
moves. Players will follow some sort of pattern, unconsciously, that the opponents might
observe. Therefore, they can observe the opponents strategy or action history or own payoff
history. As a player, we can observe the pattern being used by our opponents and develop a
strategy to counteract the moves. Of course, this could lead to another learning process for our
opponents, for we ourselves, in the end, will develop the pattern to beat the opponents pattern.
Opponents may realize this and change their pattern. Through this learning process, players will
update (increase or decrease) their probability for each move. Most likely because the win or
loss experience described previously. The update also might be led aversion of risk form the
players. Memory of recent events and sluggishness in changing opinion also can contribute in the

The Affects Of Candles Effects On People s Lives
Candles have been present for over five thousand years. Over time candles have advanced into
objects that provide individuals with both a source of light and heat. Although the use of candles
have begun to decrease, they still have an affect on the lives of people. According to the National
Candle Association, seven out of ten candles are used in homes and result in an increase in the
amount of fires related to candles. The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimated that 12,800
fires caused by candles resulted in 170 deaths and 1200 injuries (Hamins, Bundy, Dillon, 2005).

The amount of uncertainty for the net heat of combustion was calculated to be В±0.3 kJ/g with
the net amount being 43.3 kJ/g. The average effective heat of combustion found in candles was
found from incident heat flux exposures of 10 40 kW/m2 using the cone calorimeter and was
found to be insensitive to the heat flux. The amount of released heat ranged from 800 to 4150 kW
/m2 (Hamins et.al, 2005). The experimental groups produced results similar to the control group.
The results of the study showed that the combustion process was almost completed during the time
of experimentation. It was observed during the experimentation the candle did not emit any visible
soot from the flame. The mass burning rate, candle regression rate, and flame height help
characterize the burning behavior of candles. During the experimentation, the candle burned for
12 to 15 minutes in order for a steady burning behavior. When the candle flame exhibited a steady
burn, the the base of the flame also exhibited consistency with the top of the candle within a range
of 1 2 mm. The average flame height was measured to be 42В±1

Probability Modeling And Statistics Essay

Topic : Binomial Poisson and Normal.
Please mention The Measures of central tendency
The use of these distributions (in which cases these distributions are used) with illustrations.
Binomial approximation to the normal distribution.
What is Skewness and Kurtosis? How it is used and interpreted?
Binomial Distribution :
This kind of distribution is applied to single variable discrete data where results are the number of
successful outcomes in a given scenario.
E.g. :
no. of times the lights are red in 20 sets of traffic lights,
No of students with green eyes in class of 40,
No. of plants with diseased leaves from a sample of 50 plants.
Binomial distribution is used to calculate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normal Distribution:
The normal distribution is a very common continuous probability distribution. Normal distribution
is important in statistics and is often used in the natural and social sciences to represent real valued
random variables whose distributions are not known.
This distribution is useful because of the central limit theory. In its most general form, under some
conditions which include finite variance), it states that average of random variables independently
drawn from independent distributions converge in distribution to the normal, that is, become
normally distributed when the number of random variables is sufficiently large.
The normal distribution is sometimes informally called the bell curve. However, many other
distributors are bell shaped( such as the Cauchy, students and logistic distribution).
Measure of Central Tendency :
The Mean, Median and Mode are all valid measures of central tendency, but under different
conditions, some measures of central tendency become more appropriate to use than others.
Mean
The Mean is essentially a model of your data set. It is the value that is the most common.
However, Mean is not often one of the actual values that you have observed in your data set, but it
has one of its important properties is that it maximizes error in the prediction of any one value in
your data set. That is, it is the value that produces the lowest amount of error

Alpha Gamma Chi Chapter At Frostburg State University
Introduction
The group that was observed was Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Alpha Gamma Chi Chapter at
Frostburg State University. This is an on campus organization/fraternity that gives its members an
opportunity to gain, foster and enhances their leadership skills. They also seek to apply
leadership, friendship, and service in their everyday lives. APO also encourages their members to
be creative and think of new opportunities for their chapter. APO was started at Lafayette College
by Frank Reed Horton, Herbert G. Horton, and H. Roes Bartle in 1925 (Horton). This organization
was developed to strengthen men in their ideals and give them leadership and service experience.
The ideals that this organization was built on were the ideals of scouting. The initial purpose of this
organization was for it to be for college men who cooperated with all youth movements and to help
bring a more peaceful world through nurturing men to have a standard of manhood, international
understanding, and friendship.
The Alpha Gamma Chi Chapter at Frostburg State was created March 1993 by Jason Birzer,
Jeremy Gagliardi, Mary Grace Sylvester Gagliardi, Don Lipscomb, and Andrew Corl (History of
our chapter). These individuals had all been interested in Boy Scouts and wanted to start an
organization based on their ideals when they came across APO. In 1992, they started the petitioning
process to get this fraternity on campus. They soon gained support and were inducted on April
1992. The official chartering

Society In Brave New World
Brave New World s fictional society [World State] is practically an extreme, yet logically
developed version of our world s economic values, where economic growth and prosperity is
equated with the success of a society. It has several comparisons to the realistic one we live in
everyday. Huxley describes this part of his vision as being a consumer society, which evidently
was satire of the society he was living in and the one that still exists today. In which people buy
all they can and keep buying useless consumer items: nice clothes, food, and drugs. People
indulge in these items and become so happy that they lose and choose not to care about their
personal freedoms, which is why it is so easy for the World State s citizens to be controlled.
Religion is replaced by the reverence for technology. This can be seen throughout the entirety of the
book, since the World State s citizens substitute the name Ford, or Henry Ford, one of the most
greatest industrialists of the 20th century, where people in our world would normally... Show more

In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, the Finches live in Maycomb, Alabama. Atticus Finch is a
lawyer and is also the father of Scout and Jem. In this case, Atticus is defending a black man who is
accused of raping a white woman. Throughout the book, Atticus teaches lessons to his children,
represents an outstanding parent, and impacts those who admire him as a lawyer. To begin with,
Atticus teaches multiple lessons to his children. For example, on page 39, You never really
understand a person until you consider things from his of view until you climb into his skin and
walk around in it. To explain, Atticus teaches Jem and Scout a lesson about treating others the way
you would like to be treated. In conclusion, Atticus taught many lessons to Jem and Scout.... Show

Atticus is a great and caring parent due to him staying awake all night for his children. Finally,
Atticus led by example to whom he represented as a lawyer. For example, on page 99, ВЁ Do you

Capital Structure theories
Capital Structure Theories
Capital Structure
Capital Structure is the proportion of debt, preference and equity capitals in the total financing of
the firm s assets. The main objective of financial management is to maximize the value of the equity
shares of the firm. Given this objective, the firm has to choose that financing mix/capital structure
that results in maximizing the wealth of the equity shareholders. Such a capital structure is called
as the optimum capital structure. At the optimum capital structure, the weighted average cost of
capital would be the minimum. The capital structure decision influences the value of the firm
through its cost of capital and can affect the share of the earnings that pertain to the equity ... Show

This approach also says that the overall cost of capital is independent of the degree of leverage.
Features of NOI approach:
1. At all degrees of leverage (debt), the overall capitalization rate would remain constant. For a
given level of Earnings before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), the value of a firm would be equal to
EBIT/overall capitalization rate.
2. The value of equity of a firm can be determined by subtracting the value of debt from the total
value of the firm. This can be denoted as follows:
Value of Equity = Total value of the firm Value of debt
3. Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital
(WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the
risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in
highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the
cost of equity capital.
Example:
Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt
$200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity
capital (the equity capitalization rate).
Solution:
EBIT

Child Rearing Dbq
Child rearing from the 16th to the 18th century changed because the child death rate went up during
this time period. This caused parents to distance themselves from their children until they grew into
adulthood because they just did not know if they were going to survive. Adults did not want to
invest that much time and get to emotionally attached to something that was going to die. These
distancing views caused adults attitudes towards children to change, they began to have such views
as severely disciplining children, wet nursing, and that kids were taught evil or taught to be bad.
During this time adults began to severely discipline their children, they did this in several different
ways, by degrading [their children] and by strik[ing]... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People before this time period thought that children were born evil, and that they automatically
were just as evil as they were going to be when they were older when they were born. However, a
change came about during this time, and people began to believe that children Kn[e]w no evil
(Document 6) at birth, that they were only taught to be evil by the people or events around them.
That since children have yet to experience bad things happening in their life, they know nothing
of anything bad. Also another idea came up during this time that was basically if one teaches
their children how to love, and how to love their parents, and if the parents show the children that
they are worthy of that love, they will respect and obey their parents better. Sir George Savile in
1628 wrote you must begin early to make your children love you so that they will obey you,
(Document 7) showing that if parents would show their children love, they would earn their
obedience. Proving that if a parent loves their child, they earn their respect, and the theory that

Behavioral Definition Of Punishment
This paper will provide the behavioral definition of punishment and give examples of both positive
and negative punishment in different types of settings. The guidelines for the effective use of
punishment, as well as legal and ethical issues that should be considered by the Behavior Analyst
while designing a behaviorintervention plan are identified. The term punishmentas used in operant
conditioningrefers to any change that occurs after a behavior happens that reduces the likelihood
that the behavior will follow again in the future. Punishment occurs when a response is followed
immediately by a stimulus change that decreases the future frequency of similar responses.

The mere mention of the word punishment as in the origin of the word make most people think of
causing pain when in fact negative punishment is very different from corporal punishment.
Corporal punishment is the use of physical force with the intention of causing a child to experience
pain but not injury for the purposes of correction or control of the child s behavior (Gershoff,
2002). Behavior change strategies based on negative punishment involve taking away a desirable
stimulus after a behavior occurs.
Punishment has occurred when a response is followed immediately by a stimulus change to
decrease the future frequency of the behavior. Positive punishment aids in the decrease in the
problem behavior. Reprimand is one of the most common forms of positive punishments. A firm No
or Stop delivered immediately on the occurrence of an undesirable behavior will significantly
reduce the chance of the behavior being repeated in the future.
Verbal praise is a form of positive punishment. In a study using 2 ВЅ to 7 year olds praise was used
to reward compliance by the parents in the home (Owen, 2012). Parent training on elements of
praise and positive attention was conducted at the onset of the study. The setting of this study was
conducted in the home setting for handling noncompliance. The methods of punishment explored
for this study were the effects of parental praise, positive nonverbal responses, reprimand, and
negative nonverbal responses.

Analysis Of The NBA Finalss
The Marquee match up in the 2017 NBA Finals will surround Lebron James vs. Stephen Curry.
Despite not matching up positions wise, James and Curry will meet in their third consecutive
NBA Finals, having split the pair. Just like in a good ol fashion game of 1 on 1, the third game
decides the tie break. Positions wise, James and Kevin Durant will be the main story of the finals
with Curry and Kyrie Irving holding equal importance. But perhaps the most impactful match up
is Klay Thompson and J.R Smith. The Warriors have a big 4, while the Cavaliers have a
traditional big 3. Contrary to popular belief, a big 4 is not what the Warriors have had throughout
these playoffs. In the postseason, Klay Thompson has averaged a meager 14.4 points per... Show

The stark contrast between both players may not even be in their pure production level, but
rather in their confidence. J.R Smith s confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay
Thompson s seems to be at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their
roles in the offense differ, however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay s 35.
Thompson is looked upon to do more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to:
guarding the opposing team s best perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher
volume of shots attempted. However, it is J.R Smith who s production will be more vital. The
Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for Smith in the event of lackluster play. The
addition of Kyle Korver gives Cleveland flexibility at the 2 guard spot, with a deadeye three
point shooter who can keep up with the likes of the splash brothers in the long ball department. A
defensive liability admittedly, the Cavs also have Iman Shumpert at their disposal. A great
defender who plays better off ball defense than Smith, Shump often times has a sporadic offensive
game which comes and goes. J.R Smith will be the bearer of tremendous burden. Looked upon to
be that fourth scorer for Cleveland s front line, Smith will have to come into the lineup prepared to
play smart above all things, and execute at an efficient rate. The Warriors also have flexibility and

Essay On The Teaching Of Society In Lord Of The Flies
The Teaching of Society: Lord of the Flies
In the past three years, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been an unstoppable force in the Eastern
Conference of the NBA. Led by arguably the best player ever, LeBron James, they have made
three straight finals appearances, winning the Cavs first NBA titles in 2016 on a game sealing
three by point guard Kyrie Irving. LeBron himself has been to seven straight NBA Finals so one
could say he knows the game well and is to be considered a teacher of the game to his younger
teammates such as Irving. Recently, Irving has decided to step away from the Cavaliers
organization to join the Boston Celtics because he no longer wanted to be in the so called shadow
of James. Multiple sources have spoken on Lebron s basketball IQ calling it part of the reason
he is the best player right now. Now that Kyrie has joined the Celtics he is leading his team based
off things Lebron has already taught him, but only time will tell how the season will go and if
Kyrie can survive. In the novel Lord of the Flies, a group of British boys become stranded on an
island and have to use what they know about civilization already and how to behave to try and
survive on this island. In Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses the symbol of face paint to show
that someone who is civilized has disguised human nature by adapting to society s etiquette. He
also uses symbolic scenes such as when Roger is throwing rocks at Henry.

September 2001. Chiquita brand international is a pioneer in the globalization of the banana
industry, where bananas are not only a serious business, but it is a representation of economic,
social, political, and legal difficulties. From the perspective of Chiquita s Columbian subsidiary,
Banadex S.A., they first began funding AUC in 1997 after receiving threats directed at its property
and its employees. Chiquita was sending moneyto the AUC roughly every month in order to save
their employees and property. Being in charge of the business, it was the responsibility of the
company to put their employees safety first, and thus I feel they were in the right when they
started making the payments at first. This was not a safe time because during the period of mid
1960s, Columbian civil war and armed conflict were very prevalent in those areas. There was the
emergence of powerful drug cartels, which also increased the intensity of the conflict. Moreover,
there was the presence of FARC, which is a revolutionary guerrilla organization and were involved
in illicit and violent activities like extortions, bombings, kidnapping, as well as attacks on political
and military goals. AUC promised Chiquita Bananathe protection from the political and war world

Essay Inequality of Wealth and Income Distribution in...
Inequality of Wealth and Income Distribution in America
Every American dreams of finding a job that pays well enough so that they may comfortably take
care of their loved ones and themselves for years to come. Most Americans hope to find some way
to make a living that they enjoy, something that they view as productive. Unfortunately, many do
not have this luxury. In our society, a good portion of the population is forced to hold the base of
our country in place while hardly being redeemed for their time and effort, and thus the problem of
income inequality. Numbers of these people live from paycheck to paycheck, barely getting by, not
because they manage their money poorly, but because the value of their time at work is negligible.

Income inequality was a large reason why people immigrated here in the 1800 s. Their countries
were becoming too segregated by classification of income. Now this country is becoming more
of what those people fled from over a hundred years ago. Moreover, many companies are now
moving their production overseas and taking away the very jobs and opportunities that looked so
attractive to the American immigrants. Back in America, some companies hire illegal aliens at
low wages, which creates a larger lower class. As of 2010, illegal aliens made up 10% of the
California workforce, with over 8 million illegal workers nationally. We need to keep this country
from becoming like those socially segregated countries that people emigrated from in the past.
Many large firms make a lot of money, but there is no trickle down effect. The few on top make
most of the money while the average worker does much of the work. According to the real annual
income of Americans, about 95% of the benefits of economic growth over the last 25 years have
gone to the rich. Should not the hard worker on the bottom get more? These firms are controlling
because they only give out as much as necessary to keep the workers employed. Many of these
same firms have companies in other industries, such as entertainment or retail, and a lot of the
money they pay out comes back to them through these other industries. In

Analysis Of Coming Of Age In Mississippi
A wise man named Mahatma Gandhi once said, The moment the slave resolves that he will no
longer be a slave, his fetters fall. He frees himself and shows the way to others. Freedom and
slavery are mental states. In other words, Gandhi justifies that there would be a possibility in
which slavery could have ended earlier if the Negroes had spoken up sooner. They could be
physically strong, but their mental state were incredibly weak. In this book called, Coming of
Age in Mississippi, written by Anne Moody, who was also the main character, is an
autobiography of herself talking about her poor childhood and her involvement in several
organizations against slavery. Moody s journey was to establish that suffering in life has
impacted her to strongly overcome the circumstances, which lead her to succeed in life.
Suffering is a state of deprivation in which can cause physical and emotional pain. In this book,
Coming of Age in Mississippi, the author had provided several events in which the main
character, Moody, experienced suffering in her life at a very young age. As a black family in the
rural South, they were obviously poor who lack of food to eat for their own nutrition. However,
her miserable life lead her to become pessimistic. Moody justifies, Before, the woods had always
done so much for me. Once I could actually go out into the woods and communicate with God, or
Nature or something. Now that something didn t come through. It was just not there anymore.

The first theme demonstrated in this movie is Perseverance, which was illustrated in the film by
Wesley, and his determination to go through all the physical test to meet standards of the fraternity.
His whole intention throughout the movie was to prove that he could become more than what he
always has considered himself, which is below average. When Wesley was in training he got beat
up by multiple people in the fraternity, in an attempt to make him physically strong to stand
anything. He learned tasks including fighting, knife work, and also how to curve a bullet. When he
was learning to curve the bullet Sloan, played by Morgan Freeman, states The first time in your life
Wesley, you are in control (Bekmambetov, Wanted). As he shoots multiple bullets and still pierces
the wrong target, Fox then stands in the middle of him and the target and says, shoot the target
(Bekmambetov, Wanted ). As hesitant as he was he knew he had to have confidence in himself to
complete the task. As he shoots around Fox, not knowing if the bullet would hit her, he takes his
shot and hits the correct target. Sloan then says Welcome to the fraternity (Bekmambetov, Wanted ).
He then knew all his hard work had paid off! That part of the movie showed strength and
perseverance.

The American Dream and Death of a Salesman Essay
The American Dream is one of the most sought after things in the United States, even though it is
rarely, if ever, achieved. According to historian Matthew Warshauer, the vision of the American
Dream has changed dramatically over time. In his 2003 essay Who Wants to Be a Millionaire:
Changing Conceptions of the American Dream, Warshauer claims that the AmericanDream had
gone from becoming wealthy by working hard and earning money, to getting rich quickly and
easily. He attributes this change to television game shows, state lotteries, and compensation
lawsuits. He also argues that most Americans are more concerned with easy money than hard

traditional work ethic, far too many Americans are pinning their hopes on easy money . The
characters of Willy and his two sons, Happy and Biff, prove this. At the end of the play, Willy
kills himself in a car crash in order to get insurance money for his family, hoping that Happy and
Biff will use that money to start their own business. This shows that instead of continuing to
work and make money, he kills himself to get some easy money for his family. Also, Happy and
Biff plan on becoming successful businessmen, despite failing school. Biff dropped out of high
school after failing math, and Happy works as an assistant to an assistant in a department store,
where he makes very little money. Although Biff acknowledges his failure, Happy acts as if he
had the greatest job ever. He seems to be blissfully unaware of the world around him, and seems
to only be interested in girls than actually trying to improve his position. Both Happy and Biff
seem to expect success to come to them, hoping to make easy money . Warshauer also comments
that in a society dedicated to capitalism ... the ability to buy a big house and a nice car separates
those who are considered successful from those who are not . This is shown to be true in Death of

Comparing Bronte s Macbeth And Wuthering Heights

Macbeth and Wuthering Heights While reading Macbeth and Wuthering Heights I discovered these
pieces of literature are very similar. Both stories have complicated relationships with the main
characters. The destructive love within the relationships in Shakespeare s Macbeth and Bronte s
Wuthering Heights, are presented through sexism, jealousy, and betrayal. These authors show those
characteristics as in today s time. It is very ironic how both of these stories portray the same thing.
The first thing they show is how and what happens in a relationship when women get control. In
Macbeth Lady Macbeth controls Macbeth by rhetorical manipulation as stated by Linda Hutcheon.

Schizophrenia in the Spotlight
Schizophrenia in the Spotlight
Many people have asked what schizophrenia is over the years. Schizophrenia is a serious disorder
that makes simple everyday tasks hard to complete due to delusions, hallucinations, and
disorganized speech. People with schizophrenia normally have a hard time forming relationships.
Only around 1 percent of people will develop schizophrenia in their lifetime. Even though men and
women s onset of schizophrenia takes place at different ages, they are equally affected (Butcher,
Hooley, Mineka, 2014).The treatment and prognosis on this disorder have greatly improved. Two
of the main treatments for schizophrenia are pharmacotherapies and psychotherapies. There is still
a lot that is unknown about schizophrenia. Research is being done on a regular basis to collect
additional knowledge, to improve treatments, and increases peoples understanding on this disorder.
There are a many known cases of schizophrenia, dating back to 1810, before it was even given its
clinical name. John Haslam reported the first known case of schizophrenia in London, England in
1810. He explained the patient to have episodes of delusions, which is common in people with
schizophrenia. (Butcher, Hooley, Mineka, 2014). In the 19th century, Emil Kraepelin, a German
psychiatrist, was the one that discovered schizophrenia. At the time Kraepelin called it dementia

Maximum contact of air, waste bio mass, provide thousands of crossover points per m3, thus
leading to a very good aeration by natural draught or ventilation. The air requirement is met by
providing Ventilation openings in the wall, at the bottom of the Improved Bio Tower, having a
size of 4 6% of the cross sectional area of the Bio Filter. This way a daily air volume of more than

LEASING
A lease transaction is a commercial arrangement whereby an equipment owner or Manufacturer
conveys to the equipment user the right to use the equipment in return for a rental. In other words,
lease is a contract between the owner of an asset (the lessor) and its user (the lessee) for the right
to use the asset during a specified period in return for a mutually agreed periodic payment (the lease
rentals). The important feature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In such transactions ownership of goods is transferred to a finance company at a discounted price,
and the company hires out and then sells those goods to the buyer.
A hire purchase agreement is defined in the Hire Purchase Act, 1972 as peculiar kind of transaction
in which the goods are let on hire with an option to the hirer to purchase them, with the following
stipulations:
a. Payments to be made in installments over a specified period.
b. The possession is delivered to the hirer at the time of entering into the contract.
c. The property in goods passes to the hirer on payment of the last installment.
d. Each installment is treated as hire charges so that if default is made in payment of any
installment, the seller becomes entitled to take away the goods, and
e. The hirer/ purchase is free to return the goods without being required to pay any further
installments falling due after the return.
Hire purchase should be distinguished from instalment sale wherein property passes to the
purchaser with the payment of the first instalment. But in case of HP (ownership remains with the
seller until the last instalment is paid) buyer gets ownership after paying the last instalment.
Advantages of hire purchases
1. Spread the cost of finance Whilst choosing to pay in cash is preferable,. A hire purchase

Mark Twain s Bartleby The Scrivener
After the death of Bartleby, the lawyer hears the rumor that the scrivener worked as a copyist of
dead letters in Washington. Thus, the Bartleby s job was to copy dead letters. Here, the narrator
consoles himself and agrees that there is no his fault in Bartleby s death and he tried to do his
best to make his life better. Moreover, he cannot understand that the blank and colorless wall of
Bartleby symbolizes the self imprisoned mind that can see nothing. Committed to a world of safe
routine and financial reward, the lawyer can never perceive how the conditions of Bartleby s life
have brought him to near silence and to a seemingly purposeless form of passive resistance
(McWilliams 180).
Although he believes in telling the life story of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is left with numerous questions. For example, what does Bartley thing and how does he
motivate his behavior? Why cannot he compromise as the majority of people and agree with the
working conditions? What does the scrivener prefer to? None of these riddles is explainable for the
past century. For decades, critics have disputed how to understand and explain the character of
the scrivener. The attempts to give the accurate explanation of Bartleby behavior and thoughts
will be vain because very little information is revealed by the author and the narrator. But who is
Bartleby? Many critics interpreted him as a universal symbol of Melville s life or the author
himself. Widmer is sure that, In sum, writer Bartleby is writer Melville and expresses the author s
sense of despair in mid nineteenth century America which allowed little recognition or place to a
serious, critical and pessimistic artist (p. 446). Bartleby s silent and inexplicable resistance brings
isolation to him not only from his colleagues but also from the rest of the world. The scrivener
does not present insulting or disdainful manners but his challenging tone and the phrase I prefer not
to seem to mock at the boss and the society in the

Cat Breeds And The Sphynx
Think of strange and unusual cat breeds and the Sphynx is bound to come to mind even if you
don t know the breed s name! The Sphynx is often referred to as the hairless cat. Remember Mr.
Bigglesworth, Dr. Evil s cat in the Austin Powers movies? The Sphynx is not a truly hairless cat,
although it appears to be. The Sphynx s skin is often covered by a very soft peach fuzz. These
cats also are known for their wedge shaped heads and curious natures. Their skin is warm and
soft to the touch, feeling like a very fine leather. The Sphynx may or may not have whiskers.
Because they do not have coats to keep them warm, Sphynx cats tend to be very affectionate,
often snuggling up to other animals and people. If you get one of these cats, prepare to make
room under the covers at night, as it will probably want to curl up next to you. Its lack of a coat
means no shedding and no need for brushing. However, the Sphynx still requires plenty of loving
care and maintenance. Body oils tend to accumulate on their skin, while other cats absorb them in
their coats. This means that the Sphynx requires regular bathing. These cats also should have
limited exposure to sunlight, as they can develop a sunburn similar to that of a human. They also
should not be exposed to cold temperatures because of their lack of a coat for protection. In short,
the Sphynx is not an outdoor cat. A common fallacy about the Sphynx is that is hypoallergenic
because of its lack of a coat. It is important to

Origen Of Alexandria s Intellectual Framework Of The...
Origen of Alexandria was one of the earliest and most important Christian scholars. Origen
originated from a Christian home and as a young man he provided for his family by selling his
secular books and later on, he began his extraordinary career as a teacher and scholar (Shelley
84). At a very tender age of eighteen years old, leadership was surrendered to him by Clement, the
first Christian scholar (Shelley 83). Just as Clement, Origen traced man s thirst for knowledge to
the work of God. The desire to bring all truth into God s plan of salvation provided by Christ was
Origen s ultimate aim. While under his bishop, Demetrius, he was invited to Athens. While
traveling to Athens, he passed through Caesarea, where he accepted ordination to the ministry.
After finding out about Origen s ordination, Demetrius led in a public condemnation of Origen. As
a result, he made Caesarea his home. This was the ultimate beginning of Origen s accomplishments.
Thus,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, he addressed a wide range of subjects for Christians and against pagans and he also
wrote many entries based on the Old Testament entitled the Hexapla (Shelley 85). As stated in the
text, Origen believed that if Christianity were to succeed in shaping civilization, it must justify
itself to the intellect as well as to the heart of mankind. In comparison, he stated if we see some
admirable work of human art, we are at once eager to investigate the nature, the manner, the end
of its production; and the contemplation of the works of God stir us with an incomparably
greater longing to learn the principles, the method, the purpose of creation. This desire, this
passion, has without doubt been implanted in us by God. And as the eye seeks light, as our body
craves food, so our mind is impressed with the natural desire to know the truth of God and the
causes of what we observe (Shelley

The Battle Against General Magnus And His Army
It was 1930 at the railhead on Fort Bragg; they had completed loading the equipment on the big
black iron monster of a train, and covering them with heavy black tarps, which they secured to
the flatbeds. Colonel Lambert was no longer running the combat train; he remained back in
Washington D.C. with his command, the 3rd Infantry Regiment. With the Army of the Potomac
less than thirty miles out of the capital it was time for him to return to his duties. He placed
Major Reese Sales in charge of this particular mission; it was of the highest importance and no
doubt would make a huge difference in the fight against General Magnus and his Army. There
were only a few people aware of the cargo that was being transported north, the Major of course,
Colonel Lambert, Brigadier General Clayton who s idea it was, and the post commander of Fort
Bragg. Major Sales boarded the train with the additional Soldiers he was bringing with him from
Bragg; they were there to operate the equipment they were transporting. It would take a little over
twelve hours to make it to the capital, another couple of hours to unload everything, test it, and
then get it into action. Both General Clayton and Colonel Lambert were foaming at the mouth to
get them there and into the fight. The train moved out at 1945 under the cover of darkness, it was
time to get some shut eye Major Sales said to himself, come morning they were going to be very
busy. Brigadier General Clayton was back in WashingtonD.C.

Social Policy and Drug Research Paper

Social Policy and Drug Research
by Daniel Patrick Moynihan
The major idea that the author discussed in this article was how current social policy is aimed at
decreasing the use of illegal substances? The question progresses whether research efforts must
stick to this policy in order to be considered ethical. If research is to be judged in fair terms, what
effect does this have on the selection of research projects to be funded, how the research is done?
and how the findings are treated by the public, as represented by both professionals and the media?
All these questions need to be taken into considerations while looking at this current social policy.
The author presented to us that we have to understand what is causing this ... Show more content on

One general idea he put out there to the public was Drug use and abuse represents simply one more
instance of the impact of technology on society . The author supported his statement by saying
how this is the central experience of modern society. At one or two removes, most of the ills we
suffer are the consequences of technology. That is to say, the bad results that accompany the good
ones good results which led to the adoption of the technology in the first place.
To date, there are five large and important areas of research that have been either neglected: (1) the
sequence of drugs used and the development of different drug using patterns; (2) the individual,
group, and cultural factors influencing low risk and high risk outcomes among equivalent drug
users; (3) the changing attitudes of both users and nonusers toward psychoactive drug use; (4) the
impact of the media on drug use and drug choice; and (5) the process of socialization as it applies
to patterns of drug use (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/zinberg7.htm). I feel that we should
also focus on studies: how drugs influence individual health and behavior, what use is being made
of drug research, and how its findings influence public policy decisions.
I hope that this drug research will stimulate other investigators/researchers to accept long term,
studies of psychoactive drug using behavior as a

Differences Between Willy Loman And Famil Ath Of A Salesman
When it comes to the idea of the American dream, almost anyone would say that it is defined as a
chance, a possibility, a potential. Existing as an opportunity, in order to achieve an important goal
and live a successful life, the American dream acts as a guideline for our own choices and
pathway of life that we choose to follow. Yet, all people still have a personal definition of what
successmeans to them. Success can be perceived to mean achievements in a career, fame in society,
quality in work, essentially anything that showcases a sense of accomplishment and importance, no
matter its different meaning to other people. These differences are what often separate individuals
in their pursuit of the American dream while affecting the people, friends and... Show more content

Both Willy Loman and Troy Maxson have their own belief of what defines the American dream,
but whenever they attempt to instill the same beliefs in their sons, they introduce and repeatedly
worsen the problems of the already strained relationships between family members. The parents
mean well and are attempting to positively impact the lives of their sons, yet each s idea produces
similar conflicts of each relationship that instead elicit more challenges in shaping the lives of their
children to their own liking.
From the beginning pages of Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, the reader is easily able to
understand the personal view from a salesman, Willy Loman, that the most important methods of
achieving American dream lie in one s successes in the economic life and social life. In the
opening discussion that Willy had with his wife, Linda, he talks about his son, Biff, and how Willy
does not believe that Biff was trying to achieve the American dream. Criticizing Biff, he exclaims to

  • 3. The Migrant Worker Lifestyle Can Be Largely Explained As A... The migrant worker lifestyle can be largely explained as a subculture. These people have their own values and behaviors that distinguish themselves from the average American. The migrant workers work for little pay, and believe that hard work will pay off for them. They travel north and south and across the United States following the harvests of different crops so they can work and get paid. The one thing that sets this apart from the larger culture is that they are not following around the easiest or the highest paying work. They are following some of the hardest and lowest paying work that can be found. This is what sets their values and behaviors apart from the rest of the United States. These people live and grow up in a completely different world than the average American child. They start working at in their preteen years and do not stop working until their bodies won t let them anymore. The children do not get forced into labor that early although many are. They choose to do it on their own because they have a desire to help their family out. This is not common among the average American household. In fact, most of the country would rise in an uproar if white children were found to be doing this sort of work, but it seems an exception has been made for these ones. In its most general form, under some conditions which include finite variance), it states that average of random variables independently drawn from independent distributions converge in distribution to the normal, that is, become normally distributed when the number of random variables is sufficiently large. The normal distribution is sometimes informally called the bell curve. However, many other distributors are bell shaped( such as the Cauchy, students and logistic distribution). Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the cost of equity capital. Example: Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt $200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity capital (the equity capitalization rate). Solution: EBIT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Child Rearing Dbq Child rearing from the 16th to the 18th century changed because the child death rate went up during this time period. This caused parents to distance themselves from their children until they grew into adulthood because they just did not know if they were going to survive. Adults did not want to invest that much time and get to emotionally attached to something that was going to die. These distancing views caused adults attitudes towards children to change, they began to have such views as severely disciplining children, wet nursing, and that kids were taught evil or taught to be bad. That since children have yet to experience bad things happening in their life, they know nothing of anything bad. Also another idea came up during this time that was basically if one teaches their children how to love, and how to love their parents, and if the parents show the children that they are worthy of that love, they will respect and obey their parents better. Sir George Savile in 1628 wrote you must begin early to make your children love you so that they will obey you, (Document 7) showing that if parents would show their children love, they would earn their obedience. The guidelines for the effective use of punishment, as well as legal and ethical issues that should be considered by the Behavior Analyst while designing a behaviorintervention plan are identified. The term punishmentas used in operant conditioningrefers to any change that occurs after a behavior happens that reduces the likelihood that the behavior will follow again in the future. The mere mention of the word punishment as in the origin of the word make most people think of causing pain when in fact negative punishment is very different from corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is the use of physical force with the intention of causing a child to experience pain but not injury for the purposes of correction or control of the child s behavior (Gershoff, 2002). Behavior change strategies based on negative punishment involve taking away a desirable stimulus after a behavior occurs. Punishment has occurred when a response is followed immediately by a stimulus change to decrease the future frequency of the behavior. Positive punishment aids in the decrease in the problem behavior. Reprimand is one of the most common forms of positive punishments. A firm No or Stop delivered immediately on the occurrence of an undesirable behavior will significantly reduce the chance of the behavior being repeated in the future. Verbal praise is a form of positive punishment. In a study using 2 ВЅ to 7 year olds praise was used to reward compliance by the parents in the home (Owen, 2012). Parent training on elements of praise and positive attention was conducted at the onset of the study. The setting of this study was conducted in the home setting for handling noncompliance. Positions wise, James and Kevin Durant will be the main story of the finals with Curry and Kyrie Irving holding equal importance. But perhaps the most impactful match up is Klay Thompson and J.R Smith. The Warriors have a big 4, while the Cavaliers have a traditional big 3. J.R Smith s confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay Thompson s seems to be at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their roles in the offense differ, however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay s 35. Thompson is looked upon to do more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to: guarding the opposing team s best perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher volume of shots attempted. However, it is J.R Smith who s production will be more vital. The Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for Smith in the event of lackluster play. The addition of Kyle Korver gives Cleveland flexibility at the 2 guard spot, with a deadeye three point shooter who can keep up with the likes of the splash brothers in the long ball department. A defensive liability admittedly, the Cavs also have Iman Shumpert at their disposal. A great defender who plays better off ball defense than Smith, Shump often times has a sporadic offensive game which comes and goes. J.R Smith will be the bearer of tremendous burden. Essay On The Teaching Of Society In Lord Of The Flies The Teaching of Society: Lord of the Flies In the past three years, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been an unstoppable force in the Eastern Conference of the NBA. Led by arguably the best player ever, LeBron James, they have made three straight finals appearances, winning the Cavs first NBA titles in 2016 on a game sealing three by point guard Kyrie Irving. LeBron himself has been to seven straight NBA Finals so one could say he knows the game well and is to be considered a teacher of the game to his younger teammates such as Irving. Recently, Irving has decided to step away from the Cavaliers organization to join the Boston Celtics because he no longer wanted to be in the so called shadow of James. Multiple sources have spoken on Lebron s basketball IQ calling it part of the reason he is the best player right now. Now that Kyrie has joined the Celtics he is leading his team based off things Lebron has already taught him, but only time will tell how the season will go and if Kyrie can survive. In the novel Lord of the Flies, a group of British boys become stranded on an island and have to use what they know about civilization already and how to behave to try and survive on this island. Most Americans hope to find some way to make a living that they enjoy, something that they view as productive. Unfortunately, many do not have this luxury. In our society, a good portion of the population is forced to hold the base of our country in place while hardly being redeemed for their time and effort, and thus the problem of income inequality. • 43. Cat Breeds And The Sphynx Think of strange and unusual cat breeds and the Sphynx is bound to come to mind even if you don t know the breed s name! The Sphynx is often referred to as the hairless cat. Remember Mr. Bigglesworth, Dr. Evil s cat in the Austin Powers movies? The Sphynx is not a truly hairless cat, although it appears to be. The Sphynx s skin is often covered by a very soft peach fuzz. These cats also are known for their wedge shaped heads and curious natures. Their skin is warm and soft to the touch, feeling like a very fine leather. The Sphynx may or may not have whiskers. Because they do not have coats to keep them warm, Sphynx cats tend to be very affectionate, often snuggling up to other animals and people. If you get one of these cats, prepare to make room under the covers at night, as it will probably want to curl up next to you. Its lack of a coat means no shedding and no need for brushing. However, the Sphynx still requires plenty of loving care and maintenance. Body oils tend to accumulate on their skin, while other cats absorb them in their coats. This means that the Sphynx requires regular bathing. These cats also should have limited exposure to sunlight, as they can develop a sunburn similar to that of a human. They also should not be exposed to cold temperatures because of their lack of a coat for protection. In short, the Sphynx is not an outdoor cat. A common fallacy about the Sphynx is that is hypoallergenic because of its lack of a coat. It is important to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Origen Of Alexandria s Intellectual Framework Of The... Origen of Alexandria was one of the earliest and most important Christian scholars. Origen originated from a Christian home and as a young man he provided for his family by selling his secular books and later on, he began his extraordinary career as a teacher and scholar (Shelley 84). At a very tender age of eighteen years old, leadership was surrendered to him by Clement, the first Christian scholar (Shelley 83). Just as Clement, Origen traced man s thirst for knowledge to the work of God. The desire to bring all truth into God s plan of salvation provided by Christ was Origen s ultimate aim. While under his bishop, Demetrius, he was invited to Athens. While traveling to Athens, he passed through Caesarea, where he accepted ordination to the ministry. After finding out about Origen s ordination, Demetrius led in a public condemnation of Origen. As a result, he made Caesarea his home. This was the ultimate beginning of Origen s accomplishments. Thus,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, he addressed a wide range of subjects for Christians and against pagans and he also wrote many entries based on the Old Testament entitled the Hexapla (Shelley 85). As stated in the text, Origen believed that if Christianity were to succeed in shaping civilization, it must justify itself to the intellect as well as to the heart of mankind. In comparison, he stated if we see some admirable work of human art, we are at once eager to investigate the nature, the manner, the end of its production; and the contemplation of the works of God stir us with an incomparably greater longing to learn the principles, the method, the purpose of creation. This desire, this passion, has without doubt been implanted in us by God. And as the eye seeks light, as our body craves food, so our mind is impressed with the natural desire to know the truth of God and the causes of what we observe (Shelley ... • 47. The Battle Against General Magnus And His Army It was 1930 at the railhead on Fort Bragg; they had completed loading the equipment on the big black iron monster of a train, and covering them with heavy black tarps, which they secured to the flatbeds. Colonel Lambert was no longer running the combat train; he remained back in Washington D.C. with his command, the 3rd Infantry Regiment. With the Army of the Potomac less than thirty miles out of the capital it was time for him to return to his duties. He placed Major Reese Sales in charge of this particular mission; it was of the highest importance and no doubt would make a huge difference in the fight against General Magnus and his Army. There were only a few people aware of the cargo that was being transported north, the Major of course, Colonel Lambert, Brigadier General Clayton who s idea it was, and the post commander of Fort Bragg. Major Sales boarded the train with the additional Soldiers he was bringing with him from Bragg; they were there to operate the equipment they were transporting. It would take a little over twelve hours to make it to the capital, another couple of hours to unload everything, test it, and then get it into action. Both General Clayton and Colonel Lambert were foaming at the mouth to get them there and into the fight. The train moved out at 1945 under the cover of darkness, it was time to get some shut eye Major Sales said to himself, come morning they were going to be very busy. • 48. Social Policy and Drug Research Paper 8 Social Policy and Drug Research
by Daniel Patrick Moynihan The major idea that the author discussed in this article was how current social policy is aimed at decreasing the use of illegal substances? The question progresses whether research efforts must stick to this policy in order to be considered ethical. If research is to be judged in fair terms, what effect does this have on the selection of research projects to be funded, how the research is done? and how the findings are treated by the public, as represented by both professionals and the media? All these questions need to be taken into considerations while looking at this current social policy. The author presented to us that we have to understand what is causing this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One general idea he put out there to the public was Drug use and abuse represents simply one more instance of the impact of technology on society . The author supported his statement by saying how this is the central experience of modern society. At one or two removes, most of the ills we suffer are the consequences of technology. That is to say, the bad results that accompany the good ones good results which led to the adoption of the technology in the first place. To date, there are five large and important areas of research that have been either neglected: (1) the sequence of drugs used and the development of different drug using patterns; (2) the individual, group, and cultural factors influencing low risk and high risk outcomes among equivalent drug users; (3) the changing attitudes of both users and nonusers toward psychoactive drug use; (4) the impact of the media on drug use and drug choice; and (5) the process of socialization as it applies to patterns of drug use (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/zinberg7.htm). I feel that we should also focus on studies: how drugs influence individual health and behavior, what use is being made of drug research, and how its findings influence public policy decisions. I hope that this drug research will stimulate other investigators/researchers to accept long term, studies of psychoactive drug using behavior as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Differences Between Willy Loman And Famil Ath Of A Salesman When it comes to the idea of the American dream, almost anyone would say that it is defined as a chance, a possibility, a potential. Existing as an opportunity, in order to achieve an important goal and live a successful life, the American dream acts as a guideline for our own choices and pathway of life that we choose to follow. Yet, all people still have a personal definition of what successmeans to them. Success can be perceived to mean achievements in a career, fame in society, quality in work, essentially anything that showcases a sense of accomplishment and importance, no matter its different meaning to other people. These differences are what often separate individuals in their pursuit of the American dream while affecting the people, friends and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both Willy Loman and Troy Maxson have their own belief of what defines the American dream, but whenever they attempt to instill the same beliefs in their sons, they introduce and repeatedly worsen the problems of the already strained relationships between family members. The parents mean well and are attempting to positively impact the lives of their sons, yet each s idea produces similar conflicts of each relationship that instead elicit more challenges in shaping the lives of their children to their own liking. From the beginning pages of Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, the reader is easily able to understand the personal view from a salesman, Willy Loman, that the most important methods of achieving American dream lie in one s successes in the economic life and social life. In the opening discussion that Willy had with his wife, Linda, he talks about his son, Biff, and how Willy does not believe that Biff was trying to achieve the American dream. Criticizing Biff, he exclaims to Linda, How ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
