In order to focus on how to analyse and evaluate the Internal and external environment of Vodafone,
the following analytical tools will be used:
Internal Environment of Vodafone:
Core competencies
SWOT analysis
External Environment of Vodafone:
Pestle analysis
Porters five forces
Core competencies
Core competencies are the capabilities that are critical to a business achieving competitive
advantage. The starting point for analysing core competencies is recognising that competition
between businesses is as much a race for competence mastery as it is for market position and
market power. (Prahalad and Hamel)
There are three analysis, which should be applied when identifying and developing core
competence of Vodafone:
The core competence should:
Provides potential access to a wide variety of markets
Mark a significant contribution to the perceived customer benefits of the end product
Make it difficult for competitors to imitate
In order to provide potential access to a wide variety of markets, a company should attract customer
using a number of different services for example multimedia so they are not just focused on the
mobile telecommunications, they are broadening their product line. Vodafone customer base ranges
from the young to the corporate user to the more mature market.
To mark a significant contribution to the perceived customer benefits of the end product, Vodafone

What Is Scared Of Change
Some people are scared of change, it frightens them. While some just refuse it, maybe they think
they are fine without it. Although big changes are definitely intimidating sometimes, most of the
time in the end , the odds return in your favor. Maybe you don t like your changing body, you
might even get turned into a bug. Therefore your change wouldn t necessarily be good, or maybe
you just think that. Most of the time when your body is done changing, it s not half bad. Being
turned into a bug is not common, but it might make you appreciate your human life more. To me,
change is broadening, but people don t want the light. How change is perceived depends on the
person and the situation. Change might not always be desirable, like being

begin with the roles non royal women had which consisted of being the mistress of house and if
you could afford it you were an overseer of the servants and slaves do the house hold work plus
if you had children you had to care for them too. While there were ones who could not afford the
extra help had to do it all on their own sometimes with children. The primarily wealthy women
took roles in temples to the deities serving as priestess as musicians or even as singers those were.
There were also women who served as housekeepers, field hands and all manner of trained workers

Charismatic Theology
The charismatic movement1 began within the historic churches in the 1950s. On the American
scene it started to attract broad attention in 1960, with the national publicity given to the ministry of
the Reverend Dennis Bennett, an Episcopalian in Van Nuys, California. Since then there has been a
continuing growth of the movement within many of the mainline churches: first, such Protestant
churches as Episcopal, Lutheran, and Presbyterian; second, the Roman Catholic (beginning in
1967); and third, the Greek Orthodox (beginning about 1971).2 by now the charismatic movement
has become worldwide and has participants in many countries
As one involved in the movement since 1965, I should like to set forth a brief profile of it.3 A
profile of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is heavily splintered; the number of groups within this
movement number in the tens of thousands. We can, however, examine the major groups of the
movement. Pentecostalism and its offshoots can be divided into three groups: Classical Pentecostals,
those who are members of the standard Pentecostal groups, most of which originated in the first
quarter of the twentieth century; the Charismatics, or those in other denominations who received
the baptism of the Holy Spirit; and the so called Neo Charismatics, the groups formed in the last half
of the century, most of which are not affiliated with the Pentecostal denominations. We will
examine the classical Pentecostal groups in more detail; it will suffice to say for the Charismatics
that they are present in the majority of the denominations of Christendom, normally having their
own associations as part of their denominations
We must first examine the pre Pentecostal era, the time before 1901. Many churches received the
message of the Holiness movement, which stemmed from Wesleyan theology. Many of these
groups were looking forward to a renewal of the Holy Spirit, when the gifts present on the day of
Pentecost would return to the churches. Many of these Holiness groups became Pentecostal after
the turn of the

Oj Simpson Case Study
This report will follow the case of Orenthal James O.J. Simpson. Born in San Francisco,
California, July 9th 1947, Simpson is a retired American football player, actor and broadcaster.
On midnight of June 12, 1994, in Los Angeles, California, Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown
Simpson were discovered murdered outside in the Brentwood area, outside of Nicole Brown s
residence. Wounds were found on the hands of Brown s hands as an attempt of defence, with
multiple stab wounds in the neck and head. The first victim, 35 year old Nicole Brown Simpson,
was a Beverly Hills nightclub, waitress, the Daisy, where she met O.J. Simpson. At the time she
was 18 whilst Simpson was 30. They began living together when she was 19. Married February 2,

Denise Brown, Nicole s sister stated, it was only a week and a half before she died when the
couple broke up. Witnesses had seen a person similar to that of Simpson s figure entering the house,
to only come out, alone leaving behind a glove holding the sufficient evidence, also prior to the
murder Simpson and Brown were having relationship issues, making Simpson the prime suspect
from the beginning.
Of the founded evidence it came to a result of without a doubt Simpson being the murderer of
Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. In the afternoon of 12, June, 1994, 2:30pm. A friend of
Brown s, Brian Kato Kaelin, and resident of Simpson s Brentwood estate guest house, converses
with Simpson. Simpson telling Kaelin he and Nicole are no longer together anymore. At 6:30pm,
excluding Simpson, Nicole and nine others eat dinner at Mezzaluna in Brentwood, near Nicole s
condo. Though not waiting on their table, Nicole s friend, Ron Goldman is working at the
establishment. Just after the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks NBA playoff game, Kaelin

The Importance Of Endovascular Devices
Navigation of blood vessels is an essential part in reaching a lesion or a vessel segment for
treatment. Such task is achieved using an endovascular device. The circulatory system being
tortuous, improvements to endovascular devices are being investigated. Here the process involved
in improving this medical field was by combining two technologies together: endovascular devices
and ionic electroactive polymers(i EAP).
Medical procedures such as angioplasty, coronary and peripheral, atherectomy, interventional
nephrology, interventional radiology, thoracic endovascular aortic repair, full biliary catheter
procedure require a skilled physician to operate an endovascular device. It is a wire or spring used
as a guide for placement of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Endovascular devices are usually constrained to specific characteristics. The five major
characteristics are size, length, stiffness, coating and tip configuration. Endovascular devices are
made up of a stainless steel coil which surrounds a tapered inner core, where the tip of the wire
can be straight, angled, or J shaped and some include a shaping ribbon allowing the physicians to
adjust the tip angle to their liking. Their diameter varies from 0.010 to 0.038 (0.254 mm to 0.9652
mm), many have a diameter of 0.014 as it allows for an easier access to more places [1].
Endovascular devices can have polymer covers, coils, coatings all of which will have a different
effect on different properties. Coils provide tactile feedback, radiopacity and maintain constant
overall diameters and polymer covers/sleeves provide optimal lubricity to overcome resistance and
access to the lesion.
An Electroactive Polymer (EAP) is a polymer that undergoes a change in size or shape when
subject to an electric field. These are most commonly used in actuators and sensors. Ionic EAPs (i
EAP) require much lower voltages for actuation to occur, 1 5V compared to 10V/Вµm, and they
have low electromechanical coupling. This makes

To His Coy Mistress Poem Meaning
Living a life of regrets is not expectable in To His Coy Mistress it is considered not living a life at
all. The speaker reminds me of my boyfriend, Morgan. They both speak the same language except
the speaker comes from lust and Morgan comes from love. He constantly advises me to make the
most of the present and give little thought to the future. Creating the relationship I have with him is
a decision I will never regret. Andrew Marvelldemonstrates in To His Coy Mistress that the
influences of love, carpe diem, and death urge us to live a more fulfilled life. Love works in
mysterious ways. I ve known the love of my life since birth, and I never thought he would be the
one. However, he s always brought out the best in me, and he does not pressure me to be... Show

We must focus on expression carpe diem. The speaker uses references to the Bible Love you ten
years before the flood (8) to show her that if Noah would have waited for the flood all of God s
creation would have died. Noah did not hesitate when making his decision or worry about what
his future consequences could be. Noah trusted God; therefore, he ended up living a prosperous
life with no regrets. If I live the rest of my life second guessing myself and doing the same thing
every day; I will never understand the true meaning of carpe diem. The speaker uses carpe diem
and death to influence her into his pants. He exclaims that then worms shall try That long
persevered virginity (27 28) if she does not have sex with him now before she dies. The only
thing going inside her will be worms. This grotesque image is repulsing. I do not see myself
running into arms of a man who thought of these horrific images. I would regret having sex with
him more than I would regret not having sex with him. If the speaker promised me a marriage in
the future. I would be willing to go against my moral values. However, the speaker shows no

The Great Gatsby Conflicted Man
The Great Gatsby is the seminal work of F. Scott Fitzgerald; it was published in 1925, squarely in
the roaring 20 s scene that inspired the events of the novel. Fitzgerald died just fifteen years later
in 1940 at the age of 44 thinking that he was a failure ( F. Scott Fitzgerald ). The Great Gatsby is
set in the Jazz Age of America, where cultural advances in music, fashion, and social etiquette,
combined with the prohibition of alcohol, culminated in a raucous, extravagant, high spending
lifestyle. No one epitomizes this more than the mysterious Jay Gatsby, whose parties are the talk of
New York City. However, as we discover, this is merely a facade: the real Jay Gatsby is a lovelorn,
conflicted man. His love for Daisy is what drives him,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the public, he s an elusive, party loving socialite, but as we discover through Nick s eyes,
Gatsby is actually a charming yet reserved man. Ever since he was a dirt poor kid in North
Dakota, Gatsby felt he was destined for something more. He is a self driven man, and while his
desire for wealth and power is innate, it is not the only thing that motivates him. His love for
Daisy and desire to win her back cause him to buy a luxurious mansion on West Egg directly
across the bay from Daisy and Tom s mansion where he throws extravagant parties in the hopes
of luring Daisy to one of them. Gatsby s actual personality runs opposite to how he is perceived
by the public, and this dichotomy is important to the themes of the novel. Nick, the narrator,
usually has disdain for wealthy people, holds respect for Gatsby. As Nick says in his last words to
Gatsby, They re a rotten crowd, I shouted across the lawn. You re worth the whole damn bunch put
together. (Fitzgerald 160). We see Gatsby s nature when he takes the blame for Daisy when she
kills Myrtle. Even though she has abandoned him, he maintains the lie to protect

1. Introduction
This paper provides an overview of Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Worldwide Interoperability
for Microwave Access (WiMAX) the leading technologies for next generation mobile broadband.
The information presented here will help readers understand how the two technologies differ, why
Verizon Wireless chose LTE, and what advantages LTE offers customers. The following executive
summary gives a quick overview of the paper s contents and its subject matter. The remaining
sections go into greater technical detail about LTE and WiMAXwireless technologies. ... Show

Finally, we give practical recommendations of how using the proposed combined LTE/MIMO
Network with a Multi beam antenna system will increase the system s capacity. This will allow the
designers of wireless networks to obtain maximum data rate, better channel spectral efficiency and
less bit error rate, and as a result, much better service and transmission performances.
1.2 Theoretical and Conceptual Framework
Driving the evolution of wireless broadband technology is customers increasing expectations for
speed, bandwidth, and global access. Customers want more information, such as business and
consumer applications, and entertainment available through their mobile devices, but with greater
speeds. For wireless carriers to achieve greater speeds and pervasive connectedness, their networks
need to start behaving more like landline IP based networks. This line of thinking represents a
fundamental shift in perspective from mobile services to broadband connections for customers and
service providers alike. Enter the fourth generation (4G) wireless network. Unlike earlier wireless
standards, 4G technology is based on TCP/IP, the core protocol of the Internet. TCP/IP enables
wireless networks to deliver higher level services, such as video and multimedia, while supporting
the devices and applications of the future. Verizon Wireless chose LTE over WiMAX as the
technological foundation for its 4G wireless broadband

companies have adopted over the past 60 years. Mone Consulting Firm has been referring this
method for more than 20 years at a high success rate of 99%. If implemented effectively going

introducing attainable goals. The goals of lean manufacturing will achieve: a balanced rapid flow,

Customers don t like to wait, they want it now! A quick response to RFQS will satisfy the
customer which in the long run will reduce CCC s lead time and possibly match the customers
expected time. Furthermore, customers need to stop sending quotes directly to TSS. Maybe by
advertising, all RFQs must be sent to our sales administrator for processing purposes. In Step1:
Response to quote request, a modular design should be used for new products. This would cut
the time in designing, reducing parts and abridging assembly for CCC s engineering team. As
well as eliminating errors from 40% to 0. The TSS should also be using the ERP system to check to
see if materials and shipping options are available; so that a better quote package can be
determined. Step 3: Sales order entry, it should not take the planning department within 4 hours
to enter data. This step needs to be taken as soon as possible. Mistakes are costly and having
25% in errors are not acceptable so if we trim the timing of entering the data CCC still has
wiggle room to produce the sales order package effectively and have material arrive on time . In
Step 4: Work order Entry and Release to Stockroom, this step is perfect. It s important to keep
both ERP and MRP systems up to date so every department knows what is going on.

The Role the Education System Has as an Agent of...
The education system has impacted children in many ways and has helped to shape the future
leaders of society. In this essay my focus will be from the Conflict/ Marxist perspective, which
proposes that the education system is structured in such a way that some persons will benefit from
it more than others and that it is intended to cause social reproduction of inequality. Sociologists
and economists Herbert Gintis and Samuel Bowles argue (as cited in Haralambos and Holborn,
2004 p. 698) that there is a close correspondence between the social relationships which govern
personal interaction in the work place and the social relationships of the educationsystem. The
education system in today s society is considered one of the most... Show more content on

According to Ballantine and Hammack. (2009) critics argue that schools are reproducing social
classes and maintaining the social hierarchy with education policies and practices that select
students for higher track. Yet some policies such as testing give the appearance of equality. This
argument can be used to relate to the situation of the education system present in the Antiguan
society, where it is training and placing persons in society. The Common Entrance Exam (CEE)
and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) are forms of testing for both
primary and secondary students to display their intelligence and have the opportunity to lay the
ground work to become a successful individual later on in life. It is said to be a fair form of
testing where no matter your social class in society you have equal opportunity to, in the case of
the Common Entrance Exam, get the best form of secondary education, and with the CSEC, gain
a tertiary level education. However, this concept of equal opportunity through the policy of testing
in this instance is somewhat flawed, since persons who are in the Upper class who have the
means and the capital through which to access the best form of education often do. These persons
are often able to acquire the necessary help for their children to do well in the Common Entrance
Exams and therefore get the best form of education, or they decide to pay

The Theory Of Knowledge And Power
INTRODUCTION Post Foucauldian theory of knowledge and power, knowledge has been used
as a synonym for power. In 21st century they are considered as two sides of the same coin.
Power gives an individual the ability to make others obey in a social relationship irrespective of
the basis. As per Foucault power is not only brutal physical force rather an invisible form of
network that operates. At times, the operator has no knowledge of this invisible power which
controls others. Similarly, knowledge is defined as a belief of an individual or society which is
right and justified with a logical explanation. Thus, the assumption that is not true can t be
quantified as a knowledge. Belief that is true doesn t qualify as knowledge. It must be explained
in order to be called as knowledge. How the belief is justified has been debated over 2000 years
by different scholars, radical writers and philosophers and yet to receive a consensus. The
relationship between knowledge and power was established by Michael Foucault in a more
explorative way as compared to his previous counterparts. According to him knowledge and power
both shares a healthy relationship in a continuous manner. As per Foucault s theory power develops
through feed of knowledge and in turn power generates knowledge. This method based upon
assumption knowledge changes with time. For example new discourse leads to new knowledge
(Ball, 2013). Thus, a society that has gained power through knowledge has the power to direct

On Keeping A Notebook, By Joan Didion
Essayist, Joan Didion, in her narrative essay, On Keeping a Notebook, expresses how a
notebook helps her keep track of her memories. Didion s intention is to explain to the reader how
when she seems to only be going through the motions (Paragraph 8) of what she is supposed to
be doing, her notes allow her to regain her sense of self. She employs a nostalgic tone in order to
draw apon the curiosity in her adult readers. Didion makes her point quite heavily by use of pathos,
ask answer questions, and parenthesis.
Didion begins her narrative by describing her thoughts both during and after reading an entry from
her notebook. She emphasizes this point by demonstrating how at first, she can merely state that as
the note is in my notebook, it presumably has some meaning to me (Paragraph 1.) As her
remembrance improves more and more however, she becomes able to recall emotions from the
incident with phrases like she wishes and she wants (Paragraph 2.) These statements create a wistful
atmosphere. Didion use this pathos appeal to establish an emotional connection to her audience.
This causes her readers to experience similar memories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She asks questions such as, Why did I write it down? or Why do I keep a notebook at all?
(Paragraph 3)1 before answering them later in the essay. This method of ask answer is used in

a notebook. The effect of this is the reader being more open and willing towards the idea of writing

Technology And Social Media s Effect On The People s Privacy
We collect the content and other information you provide when you use our Services, including
when you sign up for an account, create or share, and message or communicate with others
(Hachman). Each day people live with a false security that they are protected and maintain a sense
of privacy. Citizens misplace their trust in social media and technology, and divulge their personal
information in ignorance of the repercussions that may arise. Users say the advances in technology
and social media won t affect the people s privacy; however, it is proven that these advances can be
a harbinger of both danger and discontent. Our nation is built upon its foundation from the United
States Constitution and its Bill of Rights. Included in this governing document is the Fourth
Amendment, the laws and guidelines that gives us the right to privacy. Within in this amendment,
it is stated that The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,
against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated (gpo). Despite the fact that these
right are clearly stated and profound, recent advances is the scopes of technology and social
media have violated the people s privacy by deceiving them into thinking they are protected. It is
shown that one of the most prominent sources, that prove a danger toward privacy, is through
social media, specifically Facebook. This site alone, has over 1.4 billion users, thus a large

Cultural Matthew M. Le Claire Essay
Cultural Universals

University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Department of Sociology
Matthew M. Le Claire received his Bachelor and Master?s degrees in criminal justice from the
University of Nevada, Reno. Currently he is working towards his Ph.D. in sociology at the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where his areas of specialization are crime, deviance, and culture.
Culture itself is a complex topic with multiple definitions ranging from the organic to the
mechanical, the natural to the manufactured. In a world composed of different groups, we see
many variations of culture. Cultural universals are traits, patterns, and elements that transcend
specific groups and can be applied to all known cultures (Macionis 2014). This idea implies that
mankind and its multiple cultures are interconnected by patterns of fulfilling human needs that
occur on a global scale. Specific examples of cultural universals extend from medicine to the family
unit. Though anthropologists and sociologists have found support for the existence of cultural
universals, the idea of these universal aspects of culture still draw criticism from critical and
postmodern scholars and by individuals who ascertain cultural universals are in a natural state of
opposition with cultural relativism.
Framework The idea of cultural universals is rooted in positivist traditions of biology and
psychology, as well as structural functionalism. While comparative studies of culture examine
differences,

Leonce is so caught up in his own ideals that he fails to see the reaction of his wife, and children.
He is caught in turmoil between society and typically uses the Kliens hotel as a way out. Then
Mr. Pontellier got up, saying he had half a mind to go over to Kliens hotel and play a game of
billiards. (Chopin, 174) Leonce does not spend time with his family while at the summer cottage,
and never cultivated intimacy with his children and wife. Leonce would rather be with the boys,
leaving all the everyday responsibilities to his wife, or hired help. While at home Leonce expects
his wife to be attentive to his every word, treating him more like a prospective business partner than
her husband. Leonce does not accept Edna s lack of attention, and gets at her the only way he can,
through her children. Leonce has a chance to vent his discouragement toward his wife. He
thought it very discouraging that his wife, the sole object of his existence, envinviced so little
interest in things which concerned him and valued so little his conversation. (177) He reproached
his wife with inattentions (178) It is obvious that Edna s inattentions were of Leonce and not the
children. Leonce wanted to get at his wife from her lack of interest in his time at Kliens. After he
reproaches Edna he goes outside and smokes a cigar like it was the most natural thing in the world
to do. (178) The real event is that Leonce has gotten even with his wife, for her inattention to him.

Changing Food Labels
Consumers could spend as much as $10 more per product if proposed label changes go through.
The FDA is proposing new food labels by changing its look, and what information is places on
the label. Improving food labels would not improve the public s health because it is (1)costly,
(2)will take lots of time and, (3)it is unnecessary. I believe that the new labels won t help public
health because people are not educated enough to know how to read them. More money should be
spent on educating people on the labels rather than changing them. If the new labels are made the
people who knew how to read them before will now have to learn how to read the new labels. With

What Happened To The Rats Research Paper
What Happened to the Rats! Remember back in 1967, when Lyndon B. Johnson was President?
Remember Camilo Junior High and Ms. Baker? Of course you remember Ms. Baker s precious
rats, Sycorax and Caliban. It was back in 1967 at Camilo Junior High when Sycorax and Caliban
disappeared. Poor Holling was cleaning out the rats cage when they escaped. Sycorax and
Caliban were as fast as lightening as they ran off. The school year was ending and the rats have
not been found. Well fast forward to the year 1997, and the rats are still missing. Many things
have changed since 1967. The principal and all the other teachers are now grandparents or dead.
Ms. Baker retired five years ago, and now Holling is a teacher at Camilo Junior High. Holling s dad
has died of a heart attack, and Holling also manages the family business, Hoodhood and Associates.

enjoying her retirement, but never forgot about her missing rats. Now that Ms. Baker is no

Everyone suspects Doug Syteck s son has the rats in captivity, but no one knows where though.
It s been a thousand years since anyone has seen them. What if they are dead? You ll find out
later.... Mr. Holling is going to figure out this mystery. Mr. Holling has his mind set on finding
the rats, and he won t stop until he does. Every time he hears a strange noise up in the ceiling, he

How Real Is the Terrorist Threat Essay

Homelessness in American

homelessness would be long term issues like drug addiction, mental illness, and alcoholism.
People who suffer from addictive disorders ruin their relationships with family, friends, and often
lose their jobs. 6% of the American population suffers from mental illness. When it comes to the
homeless population, that number jumps to 20 25%. People with serious mental issues don t

Problem Of Evil By Leibniz Essay
1.Faith and Reasoning
A man by the name of Gottfried Leibniz is a man who believed and created a reason of proof to
show why and how God exists. Although Leibniz used different reason to show Gods existence
such as law, theology, physics and mathematics he used different strategies to prove that Godexist.
Leibniz argued the statement that 2+2=4 which is logically correct. Basically through law,
physics, mathematics, theology, you can simply kind of have an idea of how it is possible to solve
how God exists.
Another person is Ivan Karamazov is another person who does not believe that there is a possible
reason to prove the existence of God. Karamazov is a person who does believe in God he just doesn

The Problem of Evil
The philosophical problem of evil is that it didn t happen on purpose its something that just
happened by nature. The term evil goes into response towards people or humans. Sometimes
God allows unwanted things to happen. Although he may allow it to happen maybe he s trying

general things hypothetically don t happen on purpose it s just something we have no control

intentions of happening it just happens. Fyodor Dostoevsky is absolutely obsessed with
children I believe he might respond in a way by saying why did this happen to those innocent
children. Dostoevsky is upset because when it comes down to children being severely hurt or
suffering he tends to think that it s a portrayal to society. He doesn t want any more suffering
towards children. I in a way can understand his point of view because I myself do to enjoy

Although its policy prohibits off the clock work, Wal Mart has created a system of rewards and
punishments that seem to give managers strong incentives to demand such work. According to
one policy, described in a deposition by a senior payroll executive, store managers are ordered to
keep payroll costs below a target set by headquarters for every store. If a store misses its target,
the manager faces a reprimand, and sometimes demotion or dismissal. Another incentive Wal
Mart gives store managers to squeeze down labor costs is pegging annual bonuses to the profits
of individual stores, a system that is rare amongst big retailers. OBJECTIVE OF STUDY For
this study, I will record the daily closing stock prices for Wal Mart Stores, Inc. between the dates
of December 3, 2007 and January 31, 2008. I will then use Microsoft Excel to carry out several

The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow And Rip Van Winkle
Does the name Washington Irving ring a bell? The author of the immortalized tales, The Legend
of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle. A man who has passed away almost two centuries ago,
and still yet, a man who has paved the way for American literature. Washington Irving was born
in New York, New York on April 3, 1783, and turned to writing once the family s import export
business had failed. Realizing that there would be no more means to support himself financially,
Irving took up his talent and his passion as his profession. Throughout his life, Irving traveled
constantly; from London, England, to Madrid, Spain, as well as the Western prairie frontiers of his
homeland. His most renowned work, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., is a Salmagundi
(the title of another of his books) of essays, short stories, and tales heavily influenced by German
folklore. In this collection, Irving frequently describes abstract ideas and ongoing situations with
the expert use of analogies and metaphors, while expressing the inner heart of his characters with
such vivid intensity that they seem to come alive. In addition, Irving proves himself a Jack of all
trades by providing subtle satire for the amusement of the reader. By exhibiting his prodigious
expertise in these numerous fields of literature, Irving establishes the fact that he is one of the
greatest writers in history. As a reader, the frequency in which Irving artfully describes a situation is

Rights of Man Essay
Rights of Man
The identity of a society is verified through the rights which are given to the citizens. The rights of
man have been at many different standards throughout time. Often being very one sided, and at
times striving for a median between the two sides. In Edmund Burke s essay Reflections on the
Revolution in France Burke states that a king is in one sense a servant but in everyday situations
they are above every individual. All persons under him owe him a legal agreement to serve his
hopes. This essay will demonstrate why Thomas Paine s essay The Rights of Man is more
convincing than Edmund Burke s through examination of a heredity government, the nature of
rights and the uselessness of the monarchy.

All individuals of the state should have say in selecting an individual to represent him and everyone
else.
Paine states that rights by nature cannot be granted. He supports this by saying that if rights are
granted then they can be revoked, and if they can be revoked then they can be considered
privileges, not rights. He claims that they should not be an agreement between the living and the
dead, but the sole benefit of the entire constituent of these two groups. This is a very good
argument on Paine s behalf. For if rights leaned to the deceased side then the living will be sold
short on what they are deserved. On the other hand, if it supported the other side, we would be
excluding the necessary component of tradition and example. Without the component of
precedents and tradition, legitimacy would be lost. The rights are constantly changing through
time. Rights which are appropriate in one decade do not necessarily mean it is applicable in the
next. Mans morals and expectations of each other change drastically through history. So how is it
possible to accept a forever binding right? Rights are often looked upon as rewards for abiding to
the regulations set out by the higher party. In my mind rights are not earned, but they are rather an
extension of our social contract. Rights must be applicable to all individuals.

Identity In Ender s Games By Orson Scott Card
In the novel Ender s Games, Orson Scott Card portrays the theme of identity very thoroughly
through the main character Ender Wiggins. He achieves this by developing the character, helping

Cecil The Lion Peter Singer Analysis
Remember Cecil the Lion? A lot of people were shocked, even outraged, when they heard about
his death at the hands of an American hunter in 2015. The response to the lion s death was so
strong that the guy who shot Cecil basically went into hiding until he issued an apology. Our
society reacts with horror when we hear about a majestic lion being shot or sacks of kittens
being tossed into rivers, or owners training their dogs to fight each other for sport. However,
what is the difference between killings Cecil and killing a duck, deer, cow, pig, or a chicken?
How do we reconcile the strong feelings many of us have about certain animals, mainly the cute
ones like kittens and puppies, with the way we actual use animals in our own lives?
Most of us think nothing about using non human animals for their meat, milk, or skins and not only
do we use animals in these ways, but using them as we do almost always harms them. A common
method for testing cosmetics, for example, involves restraining rabbits and putting the product into
their eyes, leaving it for a set amount of time and then washing it out and checking for adverse

An Description Of An Exact Dissipation Model For Arbitrary
Referee Report: Manuscript ID# OL: 280139
PAPER DESCRIPTION
In the paper titled An exact dissipation model for arbitrary photonic Fock state transport in
waveguide QED systems , Chen et al. have presented a dissipation model to study the Fock and
coherent state transport through waveguide QED (wQED) systems. As the main novelty of their
work, they have modelled the environment as a 3D scattering channel (described in a real space
picture similar to the waveguide modelling) and it has been shown that a reduced Hamiltonian can
be obtained for arbitrary photon number Fock state which can describe the photonic transport with
a restricted eigenstate. To illustrate, one , two , N photon and coherent state examples are
presented. Finally, two simple geometries of the scattering channel are considered namely the
uniform medium and a slab waveguide. Authors have also very briefly pointed out the applicability
of their model in cavity QED.
COMMENTS AND DECISION
Overall the paper has interesting findings and is systematically presented. In particular, the
modelling of the environment as a non excitable 3D scattering channel, is the key attraction in this
work. Moreover, the authors have made claims which seems not to be exaggerated. However, there
are some points in this work which can be ambiguous to the interested reader. Therefore, I can
recommend publication of this paper in the Optics Letters, provided the authors performs the

does their quality trucks, professional drivers, modern technology, and global reach. Werner s
guiding stars include their mission statement, vision statement, and guiding principles. Each of
these demonstrate the importance that Werner places on relationships. These guiding stars give an
idea of the business that Werner engages in, and what their values and goals are. However, there are
many ways in which these statements can be improved. A more descriptive view of where the

Emergency Management Plan
The town should develop an emergency management plan in the event of weapons of mass
destruction terrorist attack. Emergency management includes four basic phases: mitigation,
response, recovery, and preparedness (Maras, 2013). First we will look at mitigation, in this
process the focus is to lessen the effects of the emergency. Then maximize the effort to reduce
potentials for future disasters. The second step, response, seeks to effectively respond to an
emergency in order to save lives, protect property, and meet basic human needs (Maras, 2013).
First responders are very critical at this point and their training will save lives in these types of
situations. The people in the community will all work together to suruce the areas and provide

Binary Opposition In Euripides
Binary Opposition in the Works of Euripides Binary opposition, as defined by Corey Marvin
simply describes a pair of theoretical opposites or thematic contrasts. Euripides uses binary
opposition as an effective literary device in both the Medea and the Bacchae. One of the
overarching dichotomies in both works is masculinityversus femininity. In the Medea, the
protagonist flips the genderroles, and in the Bacchae, Dionysus androgynous nature allows him to
often adopt a feminine persona in the play. Many binary oppositions are encompassed in that of
masculinity versus femininity, a few of which are aggressiveness versus docility, intelligence versus
ignorance, and the understandable versus the mysterious. Medea exhibits typical... Show more

These women, who are typically docile and reserved are the complete opposite while worshiping
Dionysus. They dance, make music and even hunt and kill animals with their bare hands,
(Bacchae 736 737). . it is the Bacchae who kill Pentheus, dismissing forever the idea that they are
purely domestic. As the messenger relays, [a]ll the women, with blood spattered hands, were
playing ball with Pentheus flesh (1135). In the Medea, the dichotomy of intelligence versus
ignorance is shown when the protagonist s cunning is severely underestimated by all those
around her. Jason believes that she is foolish for carrying on as she does; he says, [y]ou women
have come to such a point to think, if things go right in bed, you have everything, (569 570) but
he misses that she is angry about her station in life and intends to change it. As Shirley A Barlow
explains in Stereotype and Reversal in the Medea, The protagonist is aware of more than the
fact that she suffers and injustice. She is aware that the root cause is beyond herself. (Barlow
160). Creon seems to glimpse what she is capable of when he tells her that he fears her (282), but
he still allows her to stay in Corinth for one more day, (355 6) proving that he is ignorant after all.
Medea is far more clever than the men around her and she knows how to manipulate them. When
she appeals to Creon (340) and later

Rappaccini s Daughter Essay
When many people hear the word romantic they think of a candlelit dinner and a dozen roses. The
origin of the term, however, comes from the Romantic era: an artistic movement prominent in the
mid 1800s into the early 1900s. Romantic artists use elements of idealism, imagination,
individuality, and often the supernatural to denounce the validity of logic and science. In these
Romantic stories specifically, love ends in tragedy and at the fault of science. In Nathaniel
Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter, it is revealed that the scientist Rappaccini had been gradually
giving his daughter, Beatrice, doses of poison as part of a twisted experiment. This results in
Beatrice taking her own life at the end of the story rather than live life in... Show more content on

In the beginning of the story, Rappaccini is described as having an emaciated, sallow, and sickly
face that could never, even in his more youthful days have expressed much warmth of heart
(Hawthorne 3). The scientist is portrayed as having little regard for anything except his craft,
even though he interactions with his flora are described as having no approach of intimacy
(Hawthorne, 3). From a Romantic artist s point of view there is little worse than having an
emotionless connection to one s work, which is why Hawthorne uses this detail to further revile
Rappaccini s character and his work. Near the end of the story Beatrice reveals her father s
inhumane experiment and tells the main character, Giovanni, that because of it she, too has
become poisonous and is therefore unable to love him; She then swallows an antidote and
tragically commits suicide (Hawthorne 27). By making Rappaccini the despised antagonist of the
story, Hawthorne manages to villainize the subject of science as a whole as well as all of those

Fire Of Desire, Of The Movie Rudy Essay
Fire of Desire
Nearly everyone who has succeeded in some venture of life has at one point encountered critics
and criticism. The events throughout the movie, Rudy, directed by David Anspaugh, are no
different. The movie, based on a true story, is an inspiring tale of Daniel quot;Rudy quot; Rudiger
s fight against all odds to play football for Notre Dame. Rudy, through the course of his entire life,
had been told by everyone that chasing his dream of playing Notre Dame football would only
cause him heartache. Despite all hindrances, Rudy, played by Sean Astin, accomplished his dream,
and is to this day the last Notre Dame football player to be carried off the field. The reoccurring

Clearly, Rudy s coach felt he had the most heart of anyone on the team. Players with desire like
that of Rudy are becoming increasingly harder to find in today s world of athletics, and therefore
coaches are coming to appreciate them more. Rudy s self confidence and persistence in the game
of football, despite not being born with an incredible ability to play the game, is truly awe inspiring
and worthy of much praise.
Rudy was continually persistent in chasing his dream, despite constantly hearing throughout his
entire upbringing that he could not do it. Rudy perhaps faced his greatest criticism in high
school, where everyone from his parents and siblings, friends and teachers were unsupportive of
his dream. Rudy was once told in high school, quot; The secret to happiness in this life is to be
grateful for the things the good Lord has bestowed upon us...Not everyone was meant to go to
college quot; (Civics teacher). Many teachers say they have gotten into teaching because they
enjoy being a mentor to children, and children definitely need mentors during this point in their
lives. Obviously, this was not the case for Rudy s civics teacher, who spoke very adversely to
Rudy about pursuing his dream. Even worse, his own father once told him, quot;Chasing a stupid
dream causes you and everyone else nothing but heartache. Notre Dame is for rich kids, smart kids,
great athletes. Not us. You re a Rudiger, and

Persuasive Essay On LGBT Rights
The LGBT community has made progress towards gaining more rights in recent years, although it
has been an uphill battle. In the past year alone LGBT marriage has been legalized in Australia,
Malta, and Germany, with the legalization of LGBT marriage in the U.S. in 2015 also being a
resounding success. In addition, LGBTrights have also become a greater discussion topic in
households, radio shows, and broadcasts around the world. However, while a lot of progress has
been made, LGBT individuals and their allies are still struggling for the basic human rightsthey
deserve.
Discrimination feels like a relic of the past something Americans struggled against and that was
outlawed in the 1960s. But this was not the case for LGBT individuals. Today, in America, land of
the free and the home of the brave, a lesbian can be fired simply for being gay. A gay couple can be
refused a wedding cake for the most important day in their life. A gay couple could be refused
their right to adopt a child. Much of this discrimination is chalked up to a concept called
religious freedom. Religious freedom is the right to deny service based on the idea that it conflicts
with the business owner s religious beliefs, and has been used most recently to defend
discrimination against LGBT people. The world has heard this argument many times before.
According to the LA Times, 1960s...a small chain of barbecue restaurants in South Carolina, said
that its owner s freedom of religion would be violated if

North Korea s Six-Party Talks
We cannot ignore [the North Koreans], because they will not us ignore them said Stephen
Bosworth, U.S. Ambassador to South Korea from 1997 to 2000 (Perle et al., n.d.). He is referring to
the ongoing efforts of the North Koreans developing their nuclear program and their attempts to
getting what they want, be it money, food, resources, etc. (Chanlett Avery, Rinehart, Nikitin, 2016).
With approximately six to eight nuclear weapons and the fact that it did not sign a Nuclear Non
Proliferation treaty, without a doubt, North Koreais a significant threat to both the United States and
her interests (Chanlett Avery, Rinehart, Nikitin, 2016). The United States recent policy of strategic
patience has been largely ineffective. Strategic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the 1994 Agreed Framework, signed on October 21, 1994, was agreement for North Korea
to freeze and replace its nuclear proliferation program with light water reactors, which provide
nuclear power. In addition, the agreement urged both the United States and North Korea to work
towards more diplomatic relations. Also, North Korea was expected to accept the Nuclear Non
Proliferation Treaty, which included visits from the International Atomic Energy Agency to ensure
compliance. While not a perfectly stable contract, the agreement effectively froze North Korea s
nuclear proliferation program and thus prevented the production of many nuclear weapons.
Partially as a result of the Agreed Framework, North Korea does not have as many nuclear
weapons as more developed countries as the North Koreans were not able to develop their nuclear
program during the eight years of the Agreed Framework. Surprisingly, it was the United States
who suspended its obligations under the agreement when it found out that North Korea was
developing a centrifuge program. The centrifuge program technically did not violate the Agreed
Framework, however, it alarmed the United States, enough so that it suspended the Agreed
Framework. The significance of the Agreed Framework is simply the idea that North Korea can be
dealt with diplomatically as it has been done in the past. With a few major

Gross Domestic Product (Gdp) Is an Inadequate Measure of...
Title Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is an inadequate measure of societal well being and should
be replaced by the Human Development Index (HDI) Abstract This paper will discuss the
anomally of Human Development Index (HDI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In this
discussion I will argue for HDI as a fairer comparison of a country s overall economic wealth
health and social well being rather than the generally accepted method used by most countries of
GDP. HDI allows for a more comprehensive understanding of well being than purely economic
measurements like GDP, and better identifies areas of need within countries. GDP is basicially a
measure of a country s overall economic output. It does not consider GDP per capita. If a country...

It would causes prices rise which in turn means people have to pay more for the same goods and
services. If individual income increases at a slower rate than inflation, people s standard of
living declines even if they are making more. Taking China as an example, China s obsession
with high GDP growth is part of the economics problem (http://www.businessinsider.com/china
inflation hits new high 2011 5, May, 2011). In 2010, over half of GDP growth was due to
investment in fixed assets, much of it fueled by cheap money and easy credit. Because of the rates
of GDP growth due to personal assets such as a reasonable investment, integration, inflation may
bring assets to face a serious risk of shrinking in the future. As Chovanec stated that the real
challenge for China isn t racking up ever higher GDP figures, but putting its economy on a more
sustainable footing going forward, even if that means lower rates of growth (http:/
/www.businessinsider.com/china inflation hits new high 2011 5, May, 2011). Comparing with
other indicators, Human Development Index (HDI) presents an innovative approach to measuring
well being within affluent nations, and shows a more detailed picture of societal well being than
by just economic growth alone. A composite measure called HDI was introduced to measure
human development. This index focuses on three basic dimensions: (1) GDP per capita at

Stereotypes Of A Typical Canadian Mountie
strength. They are described as being brave, disciplined, polite, and non violent. A Canadian
Mountie has respect for authority and not only abides by law and order, but enforces it. They
are a true test of hardiness and avoid the dangers of over civilization and effeminacy. Sangster
(2014) explains that The Mounties faced moments of bloodshed and violence, but were famous
for being able to keep their guns in their holsters and that they could literally stare down
adversaries with their courage (pg. 51). This stereotype of a typical Canadian Mountie can actually
be seen in Due South. In episode three, Fraser and his American partner are hunting down a
fugitive who is trying to murder Fraser Sr. In one scene in particular, the three main characters enter
a warehouse in which the criminals are waiting for them, and officer Raymond points out how he is
the only one with a gun. This scene stands out because a few minutes prior, it is expressed that the
men inside the warehouse have guns and trained. This example is important as it helps to illustrate
the stereotype that Mountie s would rather tackle crime without the use of weapons and murder.

represented in a more positive way than that of the Americans. Canadian s, and specifically the

loud, obnoxious, and more. This is important because it shows that while trying

Act 1 Of Rosencrantz And Guidenstern Are Dead By Tom Stoppard
In act I of Rosencrantz and Guidenstern are dead by Tom Stoppard focuses on two characters,
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. They are embarking on a journey that oddly enough neuther of
them fully recall why exactly they are traveling or who sent them. Just as in Beckets Waiting for
Goddot the characters embark on a game of passing time in order to reach their ultimate goal. In
this Play Rosencrants and Guildenstern are flipping a cointhat seems to keep landing on heads.
There is an odd sense of uncertainty that comes from such a certainty of flipping on heads. After a
run in with a traveling group led by a man that goes by player , Rosencrantz and Guildensternarrive
at their destination of Claudius and Gertrude kingdom of Denmark. They were sent upon by
Claudius and Gertrude in order to figure out what was wrong with Hamletbecause of his recent
change in behavior. The scene where Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are sitting around flipping a
coin is more important than most would think. The passing of time is something that is prominent
in this story that parallels to beckets novel. The audience gets a notion that the characters spend
so much of their life doing nothing more than waiting for the next event to happen. Some might
say that that all anybody does every day but I disagree. I feel that the act of waiting has many
definitions because many people are active while waiting just as the characters are in both of the
plays. In both situations there is a sense of a loss of

the accounting department for the better (Shanker). Today, IT is already present and is used
widely in the business field, specifically in accounting offices (Shanker, 2006). The following are
the positive effects of IT in the Accounting Work: Speed is the most important characteristic of
IT. The use of various technologies results to faster and more accurate performances.
Technologies are mainly composed of hardware and software and these two must be always
compatible for the accountant s specific works in order to deliver the best performance. In order
for technologies to be more effective as far as speed is concerned, the system of accounting should

The Use Of Hands In Sherwood Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio
There are certain things that interlock humanity together, tie us down to our humanness. We all
have similar physical features: nose, mouth, speech, feet, hands. Every person is individual
designed, holding the same features, but shown in their own beautiful way, hands especially.Even
grotesque creatures carry these characteristics. However, theirs seems to be seen as something
less than beautiful. Grotesque, if you will. Sherwood Anderson, through his work Winesburg,
Ohio, shows these beautiful features, specifically hands, shared by humanity tie us down to our
stories good and bad. As Anderson s novel progresses, the use of hands become more and more
evident, especially the description and the way they re used. Anderson seems to be obsessed with
hands, referring to them as sometimes, white and bloodless (Mother, Anderson), and also
expressing the way they re used: steadied by, turning doorknobs, with her hands waited (Mother,
Anderson), hands dipped in blood (The Philosopher, Anderson), clapped his hands (Godliness II,
Anderson) etc. This is a theme evident throughout the entirety of the novel. This could possibly
express Anderson s way of showing the importance of hands on each of their characters, as he
goes explicitly out of his way to describe what the hands are doing and what they look like. Hands
are often one of the first ways that people interact with each other, creating a bond between each
human that touch. Whether it be a handshake, a hand hold, a

Bug Repellent Case Study
Bug repellent companies are running at full capacity to put up with the demand of bug spray to
put out the spread of the Zika virus. Companies that make these bug sprays are working with
different government agencies to ease the price of shipping to the countries in need of this
useful product. The countries that are in need for the price of shipping to go down are those
with a high demand value and low production of the chemicals needed to make this product.
Consumer market expect the demand to be 2 or 3 times higher than the past years. Many
companies are adding third or fourth shifts, adding in weekends, and operating all day and week
in order to make the demand for bug spray. Along with production ramp up, repellent makers are
in talks with government regulators about ways to make it easier to transport their products across
international borders, according to Ms. Semrau, the S.C. Johnson spokeswoman. Bug repellent is
one of few weapons that people have to arm themselves against mosquitos in general, let alone the
Zika virus. The Zika virus also has no treatment and it is hard to control. Pregnant women are also
at a very high risk if they are infected while pregnant, their child could be born with significant birth

concentrations of these products that have a higher concentration for longer lasting protection.

Coaching Analysis
Assignment one
Introduction:
Analysis of sports performance is of great importance to a higher performance sports coach.
Coaching is about enhancing an athlete(s) performance a principal means by which this achieved is
through feedback however research as proven that human observation and memory are not reliable
enough to provide the detailed information necessary to secure behavioural changes (Franks and
Miller 1986) P101.
According to world renowned rugby union coach Graham Henry A successful coach is one who
prepares his team to deal with all eventualities, are fully briefed on the game and understand their
requirements. A coach s job is to familiarise them with their particular strengths and weaknesses
(Henry 1999). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analysis can also be used whilst coaching on a one to one basis. The athlete can then view their
performance techniques in order to ascertain information required in enhancing their performance.
2. The methods and systems used in performance analysis
1.2.1 The human memory can be used to aid a coach in his analysis of performance however this
way is not known to be the most effective way to support performance analysis. Human memory is
limited so it is almost impossible to remember and acknowledge everything that happens throughout
a game type situation.
For example Franks and Miller (1986) provided information research collected that showed less
than 45 percent of football coaches where accurate in their post match assessment using the method
of human memory (Hughes 2008) p103. Even though the use of human memory can give the coach
a general idea of how a team or athlete as done throughout a game or event, it should not be used to
determine accurate observational or statistical conclusions.
1.2.2 Hand notion is relatively accurate and cheap but it does have disadvantages (Hughes 2008)
p101. This type of method often consists of relevant details of performance that is often collected
by one or more persons throughout an event or game type situation. Analysis data is collected and
presented to the coach often in the form of graphs pie charts, and bar

Although big changes are definitely intimidating sometimes, most of the time in the end , the odds return in your favor. Maybe you don t like your changing body, you might even get turned into a bug. Therefore your change wouldn t necessarily be good, or maybe you just think that. Most of the time when your body is done changing, it s not half bad. Being turned into a bug is not common, but it might make you appreciate your human life more. To me, change is broadening, but people don t want the light. On the American scene it started to attract broad attention in 1960, with the national publicity given to the ministry of the Reverend Dennis Bennett, an Episcopalian in Van Nuys, California. Since then there has been a continuing growth of the movement within many of the mainline churches: first, such Protestant churches as Episcopal, Lutheran, and Presbyterian; second, the Roman Catholic (beginning in 1967); and third, the Greek Orthodox (beginning about 1971).2 by now the charismatic movement has become worldwide and has participants in many countries As one involved in the movement since 1965, I should like to set forth a brief profile of it.3 A profile of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is heavily splintered; the number of groups within this movement number in the tens of thousands. We can, however, examine the major groups of the movement. Pentecostalism and its offshoots can be divided into three groups: Classical Pentecostals, those who are members of the standard Pentecostal groups, most of which originated in the first quarter of the twentieth century; the Charismatics, or those in other denominations who received the baptism of the Holy Spirit; and the so called Neo Charismatics, the groups formed in the last half of the century, most of which are not affiliated with the Pentecostal denominations. We will examine the classical Pentecostal groups in more detail; it will suffice to say for the Charismatics that they are present in the majority of the denominations of Christendom, normally having their own associations as part of their denominations We must first examine the pre Pentecostal era, the time before 1901. Many churches received the message of the Holiness movement, which stemmed from Wesleyan theology. Many of these groups were looking forward to a renewal of the Holy Spirit, when the gifts present on the day of Pentecost would return to the churches. • 9. The Importance Of Endovascular Devices Navigation of blood vessels is an essential part in reaching a lesion or a vessel segment for treatment. Such task is achieved using an endovascular device. The circulatory system being tortuous, improvements to endovascular devices are being investigated. Here the process involved in improving this medical field was by combining two technologies together: endovascular devices and ionic electroactive polymers(i EAP). Medical procedures such as angioplasty, coronary and peripheral, atherectomy, interventional nephrology, interventional radiology, thoracic endovascular aortic repair, full biliary catheter procedure require a skilled physician to operate an endovascular device. It is a wire or spring used as a guide for placement of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Endovascular devices are usually constrained to specific characteristics. The five major characteristics are size, length, stiffness, coating and tip configuration. Endovascular devices are made up of a stainless steel coil which surrounds a tapered inner core, where the tip of the wire can be straight, angled, or J shaped and some include a shaping ribbon allowing the physicians to adjust the tip angle to their liking. Their diameter varies from 0.010 to 0.038 (0.254 mm to 0.9652 mm), many have a diameter of 0.014 as it allows for an easier access to more places [1]. Endovascular devices can have polymer covers, coils, coatings all of which will have a different effect on different properties. Coils provide tactile feedback, radiopacity and maintain constant overall diameters and polymer covers/sleeves provide optimal lubricity to overcome resistance and access to the lesion. An Electroactive Polymer (EAP) is a polymer that undergoes a change in size or shape when subject to an electric field. These are most commonly used in actuators and sensors. They both speak the same language except the speaker comes from lust and Morgan comes from love. He constantly advises me to make the most of the present and give little thought to the future. Creating the relationship I have with him is a decision I will never regret. Andrew Marvelldemonstrates in To His Coy Mistress that the influences of love, carpe diem, and death urge us to live a more fulfilled life. Love works in mysterious ways. If I live the rest of my life second guessing myself and doing the same thing every day; I will never understand the true meaning of carpe diem. The speaker uses carpe diem and death to influence her into his pants. He exclaims that then worms shall try That long persevered virginity (27 28) if she does not have sex with him now before she dies. The only thing going inside her will be worms. This grotesque image is repulsing. I do not see myself running into arms of a man who thought of these horrific images. Scott Fitzgerald; it was published in 1925, squarely in the roaring 20 s scene that inspired the events of the novel. Fitzgerald died just fifteen years later in 1940 at the age of 44 thinking that he was a failure ( F. Scott Fitzgerald ). The Great Gatsby is set in the Jazz Age of America, where cultural advances in music, fashion, and social etiquette, combined with the prohibition of alcohol, culminated in a raucous, extravagant, high spending lifestyle. No one epitomizes this more than the mysterious Jay Gatsby, whose parties are the talk of New York City. However, as we discover, this is merely a facade: the real Jay Gatsby is a lovelorn, conflicted man. His love for Daisy is what drives him,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To the public, he s an elusive, party loving socialite, but as we discover through Nick s eyes, Gatsby is actually a charming yet reserved man. Ever since he was a dirt poor kid in North Dakota, Gatsby felt he was destined for something more. He is a self driven man, and while his desire for wealth and power is innate, it is not the only thing that motivates him. His love for Daisy and desire to win her back cause him to buy a luxurious mansion on West Egg directly across the bay from Daisy and Tom s mansion where he throws extravagant parties in the hopes of luring Daisy to one of them. Gatsby s actual personality runs opposite to how he is perceived by the public, and this dichotomy is important to the themes of the novel. Nick, the narrator, usually has disdain for wealthy people, holds respect for Gatsby. As Nick says in his last words to Gatsby, They re a rotten crowd, I shouted across the lawn. You re worth the whole damn bunch put together. (Fitzgerald 160). We see Gatsby s nature when he takes the blame for Daisy when she kills Myrtle. Customers want more information, such as business and consumer applications, and entertainment available through their mobile devices, but with greater speeds. For wireless carriers to achieve greater speeds and pervasive connectedness, their networks need to start behaving more like landline IP based networks. This line of thinking represents a fundamental shift in perspective from mobile services to broadband connections for customers and service providers alike. Enter the fourth generation (4G) wireless network. Unlike earlier wireless standards, 4G technology is based on TCP/IP, the core protocol of the Internet. TCP/IP enables wireless networks to deliver higher level services, such as video and multimedia, while supporting the devices and applications of the future. Verizon Wireless chose LTE over WiMAX as the technological foundation for its 4G wireless broadband ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A quick response to RFQS will satisfy the customer which in the long run will reduce CCC s lead time and possibly match the customers expected time. Furthermore, customers need to stop sending quotes directly to TSS. Maybe by advertising, all RFQs must be sent to our sales administrator for processing purposes. In Step1: Response to quote request, a modular design should be used for new products. This would cut the time in designing, reducing parts and abridging assembly for CCC s engineering team. As well as eliminating errors from 40% to 0. The TSS should also be using the ERP system to check to see if materials and shipping options are available; so that a better quote package can be determined. Step 3: Sales order entry, it should not take the planning department within 4 hours to enter data. This step needs to be taken as soon as possible. Mistakes are costly and having 25% in errors are not acceptable so if we trim the timing of entering the data CCC still has wiggle room to produce the sales order package effectively and have material arrive on time . In this essay my focus will be from the Conflict/ Marxist perspective, which proposes that the education system is structured in such a way that some persons will benefit from it more than others and that it is intended to cause social reproduction of inequality. Sociologists and economists Herbert Gintis and Samuel Bowles argue (as cited in Haralambos and Holborn, 2004 p. 698) that there is a close correspondence between the social relationships which govern personal interaction in the work place and the social relationships of the educationsystem. (2009) critics argue that schools are reproducing social classes and maintaining the social hierarchy with education policies and practices that select students for higher track. Yet some policies such as testing give the appearance of equality. This argument can be used to relate to the situation of the education system present in the Antiguan society, where it is training and placing persons in society. The Common Entrance Exam (CEE) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) are forms of testing for both primary and secondary students to display their intelligence and have the opportunity to lay the ground work to become a successful individual later on in life. It is said to be a fair form of testing where no matter your social class in society you have equal opportunity to, in the case of the Common Entrance Exam, get the best form of secondary education, and with the CSEC, gain a tertiary level education. However, this concept of equal opportunity through the policy of testing in this instance is somewhat flawed, since persons who are in the Upper class who have the means and the capital through which to access the best form of education often do. These persons are often able to acquire the necessary help for their children to do well in the Common Entrance Exams and therefore get the best form of education, or they decide to pay ... • 15. The Theory Of Knowledge And Power INTRODUCTION Post Foucauldian theory of knowledge and power, knowledge has been used as a synonym for power. In 21st century they are considered as two sides of the same coin. Power gives an individual the ability to make others obey in a social relationship irrespective of the basis. As per Foucault power is not only brutal physical force rather an invisible form of network that operates. At times, the operator has no knowledge of this invisible power which controls others. Similarly, knowledge is defined as a belief of an individual or society which is right and justified with a logical explanation. Thus, the assumption that is not true can t be quantified as a knowledge. Belief that is true doesn t qualify as knowledge. It must be explained in order to be called as knowledge. How the belief is justified has been debated over 2000 years by different scholars, radical writers and philosophers and yet to receive a consensus. The relationship between knowledge and power was established by Michael Foucault in a more explorative way as compared to his previous counterparts. According to him knowledge and power both shares a healthy relationship in a continuous manner. As per Foucault s theory power develops through feed of knowledge and in turn power generates knowledge. This method based upon assumption knowledge changes with time. For example new discourse leads to new knowledge (Ball, 2013). Thus, a society that has gained power through knowledge has the power to direct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Didion s intention is to explain to the reader how when she seems to only be going through the motions (Paragraph 8) of what she is supposed to be doing, her notes allow her to regain her sense of self. She employs a nostalgic tone in order to draw apon the curiosity in her adult readers. Didion makes her point quite heavily by use of pathos, ask answer questions, and parenthesis. Didion begins her narrative by describing her thoughts both during and after reading an entry from her notebook. She emphasizes this point by demonstrating how at first, she can merely state that as the note is in my notebook, it presumably has some meaning to me (Paragraph 1.) As her remembrance improves more and more however, she becomes able to recall emotions from the incident with phrases like she wishes and she wants (Paragraph 2.) Le Claire received his Bachelor and Master?s degrees in criminal justice from the University of Nevada, Reno. Currently he is working towards his Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where his areas of specialization are crime, deviance, and culture. Culture itself is a complex topic with multiple definitions ranging from the organic to the mechanical, the natural to the manufactured. In a world composed of different groups, we see many variations of culture. Cultural universals are traits, patterns, and elements that transcend specific groups and can be applied to all known cultures (Macionis 2014). This idea implies that mankind and its multiple cultures are interconnected by patterns of fulfilling human needs that occur on a global scale. Specific examples of cultural universals extend from medicine to the family unit. Though anthropologists and sociologists have found support for the existence of cultural universals, the idea of these universal aspects of culture still draw criticism from critical and postmodern scholars and by individuals who ascertain cultural universals are in a natural state of opposition with cultural relativism. Paine states that rights by nature cannot be granted. He supports this by saying that if rights are granted then they can be revoked, and if they can be revoked then they can be considered privileges, not rights. He claims that they should not be an agreement between the living and the dead, but the sole benefit of the entire constituent of these two groups. This is a very good argument on Paine s behalf. For if rights leaned to the deceased side then the living will be sold short on what they are deserved. On the other hand, if it supported the other side, we would be excluding the necessary component of tradition and example. Without the component of precedents and tradition, legitimacy would be lost. The rights are constantly changing through time. Rights which are appropriate in one decade do not necessarily mean it is applicable in the next. The response to the lion s death was so strong that the guy who shot Cecil basically went into hiding until he issued an apology. Our society reacts with horror when we hear about a majestic lion being shot or sacks of kittens being tossed into rivers, or owners training their dogs to fight each other for sport. However, what is the difference between killings Cecil and killing a duck, deer, cow, pig, or a chicken? How do we reconcile the strong feelings many of us have about certain animals, mainly the cute ones like kittens and puppies, with the way we actual use animals in our own lives? Most of us think nothing about using non human animals for their meat, milk, or skins and not only do we use animals in these ways, but using them as we do almost always harms them. A common method for testing cosmetics, for example, involves restraining rabbits and putting the product into their eyes, leaving it for a set amount of time and then washing it out and checking for adverse reactions. ... As the main novelty of their work, they have modelled the environment as a 3D scattering channel (described in a real space picture similar to the waveguide modelling) and it has been shown that a reduced Hamiltonian can be obtained for arbitrary photon number Fock state which can describe the photonic transport with a restricted eigenstate. To illustrate, one , two , N photon and coherent state examples are presented. Finally, two simple geometries of the scattering channel are considered namely the uniform medium and a slab waveguide. Authors have also very briefly pointed out the applicability of their model in cavity QED. COMMENTS AND DECISION Overall the paper has interesting findings and is systematically presented. In particular, the modelling of the environment as a non excitable 3D scattering channel, is the key attraction in this work. Moreover, the authors have made claims which seems not to be exaggerated. However, there are some points in this work which can be ambiguous to the interested reader. In the Medea, the protagonist flips the genderroles, and in the Bacchae, Dionysus androgynous nature allows him to often adopt a feminine persona in the play. • 43. Rappaccini s Daughter Essay When many people hear the word romantic they think of a candlelit dinner and a dozen roses. The origin of the term, however, comes from the Romantic era: an artistic movement prominent in the mid 1800s into the early 1900s. Romantic artists use elements of idealism, imagination, individuality, and often the supernatural to denounce the validity of logic and science. In these Romantic stories specifically, love ends in tragedy and at the fault of science. Near the end of the story Beatrice reveals her father s inhumane experiment and tells the main character, Giovanni, that because of it she, too has become poisonous and is therefore unable to love him; She then swallows an antidote and tragically commits suicide (Hawthorne 27). In the past year alone LGBT marriage has been legalized in Australia, Malta, and Germany, with the legalization of LGBT marriage in the U.S. in 2015 also being a resounding success. In addition, LGBTrights have also become a greater discussion topic in households, radio shows, and broadcasts around the world. However, while a lot of progress has been made, LGBT individuals and their allies are still struggling for the basic human rightsthey deserve. Discrimination feels like a relic of the past something Americans struggled against and that was outlawed in the 1960s. But this was not the case for LGBT individuals. Today, in America, land of the free and the home of the brave, a lesbian can be fired simply for being gay. A gay couple can be refused a wedding cake for the most important day in their life. A gay couple could be refused their right to adopt a child. Much of this discrimination is chalked up to a concept called religious freedom. Title Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is an inadequate measure of societal well being and should be replaced by the Human Development Index (HDI) Abstract This paper will discuss the anomally of Human Development Index (HDI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In this discussion I will argue for HDI as a fairer comparison of a country s overall economic wealth health and social well being rather than the generally accepted method used by most countries of GDP. HDI allows for a more comprehensive understanding of well being than purely economic measurements like GDP, and better identifies areas of need within countries. In 2010, over half of GDP growth was due to investment in fixed assets, much of it fueled by cheap money and easy credit. We all have similar physical features: nose, mouth, speech, feet, hands. Every person is individual designed, holding the same features, but shown in their own beautiful way, hands especially.Even grotesque creatures carry these characteristics. However, theirs seems to be seen as something less than beautiful. Grotesque, if you will. Sherwood Anderson, through his work Winesburg, Ohio, shows these beautiful features, specifically hands, shared by humanity tie us down to our stories good and bad. As Anderson s novel progresses, the use of hands become more and more evident, especially the description and the way they re used. Anderson seems to be obsessed with hands, referring to them as sometimes, white and bloodless (Mother, Anderson), and also expressing the way they re used: steadied by, turning doorknobs, with her hands waited (Mother, Anderson), hands dipped in blood (The Philosopher, Anderson), clapped his hands (Godliness II, Anderson) etc. This is a theme evident throughout the entirety of the novel.
