This document describes a digitized feedback loop for a DC-DC buck converter operating at 400kHz. A digital signal controller (dsPIC) is used to monitor the output voltage and provide PID control of the converter by modifying the pulse width of the digital PWM signal. Simulation results in Matlab/Simulink matched well with experimental results. The dsPIC implementation provided an efficient yet low-cost solution compared to using a DSP for digital control of the converter.
