Working Title:
‘Amnesia’
Product’s Purpose:
My products purpose is to entertain its audience and be a source of amusement.
Genre:
My product is a mystery/adventure side scroll video game.
Content
My product will be a mystery, pixel art, point and click side scroll video game about a boy waking
up in his post-apocalyptic hometown with amnesia. He will walk through the town, past old
abandoned shops and neglected homes, and collect 10 pages ripped out from diary’s that help him
figure out the disaster of what has happened to his hometown. Once all 10 has been collected, he
will be rescued by an officer and taken to safety.
Audience:
Teenagers, 15 – 25: This age group will grasp the story telling aspect that moves my game
forward and be old enough to solve any puzzles and complete the game.
All genders, all sexualities: My game doesn’t conform to just one gender or sexuality – however
the protagonist is male, and stereotypically dark games do draw attention from males, but I think
the emotional story aspect will prompt females to play (stereotypically speaking).
BC1C2D, middle class, working class, lower class – There is no particular reason why I am
marketing my product to this branch of people, but more of a reason to why I’m not marketing my
games to the others. People of a higher NRS grade may think my product is too low brow and
anyone in a lower grade may not have much access to the game.
Socially Conscious Type A and Type B, Balanced, Needs Drive – I’ve chosen these particular
branches of psychographics to target my audience too because I believe they will all individually
enjoy rather the story telling, interesting aspect of the game or the dark dystopian setting.
Research and Planning:
All the colours I have selected in my planning are moody and dull, colours that I will incorporate
into my video game design and the app logo. I researched into pixel art and this helped me think of
more inventive ways to create my setting and character design by giving me new techniques to
follow when using pixel art in Photoshop. I will research more into similar themed products and see
what was the most successful route to take when creating a dystopian mini game.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
No offensive material will be included. The work is a piece of fiction that doesn’t at all cross any
lines and will me very simplistic in thought and design.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
It may be harder for younger people to understand the story of the game and it could be harder for
them to play it, but this is why my product will have a recommended age for consumption.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
My story is about a plague stricken town that has been abandoned and a little boy with amnesia
who is trying to remember what has happened to the town. People maybe offended by the
amnesia use, but my story doesn’t cross any lines and certainly doesn’t display amnesia in a
negative way.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
I will look into similar projects and if anything similar has caused mass offence in the past – if this
is this case, I will adjust my product accordingly.

Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
No. Everything used in the product is original artwork that I created in photoshop myself.
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for
copyright infringement?
The only problem I can see my product having is that the name ‘Amnesia’ is also used for another
big popular game called ‘Amnesia: The dark decent.’ I believe this title is different enough not to
get sued, especially because both of the games are entirely different.
