In this game they have used a
good color scheme which relates
to the genre of horror for example
the colors black and red are very
gory and sinister colors and would
attract people that are wanting a
horror game. In this screenshot
you can see some of the angles
from the camera, I think that the
lighting in this is very horror and
dark which attracts younger
viewers as the light in the middle
really draws attention towards
the blood and the painting. I think
that this product is aimed more
towards males as it is very
stereotypical that the majority of
horror game players are male as
they like dark and killing games, in
my opinion I think that game is
suited towards more 12-20yr olds.

This game is a horror game, and
to create more of a horror theme
they have used the different
colours and effects to make it
seem scarier and more on the
spookier side. For example the
main background colour is the
grey kind of smoky colour which
makes all the different coloured
lights stand out more and makes
it seem more dangerous as it
looks like a dangerous sign. This
appeals to the audience as it is
suited for a younger audience and
the graphics are more aimed at
young people.

This is a horror/ scary game which has
lots of different colours/effects to make
it more haunted and scarier for example
the lighting in this shot shows us that
the lighting creates a big difference
throughout all different shots as if the
painting on the wall wasn’t in the light it
wouldn’t be as scary and that wouldn’t
attract as many people as they wouldn’t
think that it would be very scary. I think
that the audience are being drawn in by
the lighting and the lack of colour in this
as it makes it more horror themed as it
makes the viewer what is in the dark? In
my opinion I think the age range of this
would 14-25 as it looks a lot scarier than
the rest so maybe abit older than
normal.

• What common features do the researched
products have?
– In the products that I have researched about I found that there is a lot of
common features for example the lighting is key to making it scarier as
shadows create the sense of unknown. I will use this and the bright colours
standing out in my own work.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
– In my own work I will use lots of different lighting and bright colours with
darker backgrounds as I feel that they stand out and look better than normal.
