Working Title:Golden Gate
Product’s Purpose:
My product is to entertain people and involve competition and rivalry. The purpose of my
game is to also show the user a new gaming experience which is different to other
games. I am also wanting my game to stand out and I will do this buy including vehicles
that do not currently exist due to the game being in the future. The game will also include
futuristic weapons. This will allow my game to have endless possibilities which will make
the buyer be more interested. Finally, I want the outcome of this game to allow players to
be able to challenge their friends online and be able to work towards the goal of getting
as much money as you can.
Genre:
My game is an online shooting game. It will be aimed only for the PlayStation 4 console.
The game will involve a lot of racing and driving around, flying planes and helicopters and
will also allow players to use weapons such as guns, grappling hooks and explosives to
defeat other players, police and enemies.
Content
Game Context: My product is an action game called ‘Golden Gate’. It is an online free
roaming game where the aim is to acquire as much money as you can. It is set in San
Francisco in the year 3020
Character appearance: during the game you will be able to change ow you character
looks to make him or her look cooler or menacing. You can also find clothing stores
dotted around the map where you buy and wear different clothes to change your style.
Weapons: The game will include a large amount of weaponry to help you acquire money
and eliminate anyone that stands in your way. As it is set in the future this will allow the
game to have more futuristic weapons and have endless possibilities that these weapons
can do and look like.
Vehicles: At the start of the game the player will be given an Audi R8 to roam around in
and to be able to keep. The players will also be able to buy themselves other vehicles
with the money they acquire to show it off to other players. Vehicles can also be used for
the races.
Money: There will be different ways that the player will be able to acquire money. The
players can buy a car and compete in races, Rob stores, Rob banks, hacking and selling
cars.
Races: There will different races that players can partake in to get money and to
challenge their friends.
Robbing: During online the character will be able to go to the general stores and rob
them for a few $100. They can also work together to use their skills to rob banks. This
can be done by killing the security guards and hacking into the cameras and the firewalls
so that they can steal the money easier.
Hacking: The players can go to the weapons store to buy equipment to help them with
hacking. Hacking can be used in banks to help disable things and help steal the money.
Hacking can also be used on other players to steal money out of their bank accounts but
you have to be careful as they can detect you and track you down.
Missions: For the online campaign of the game, you have been approached by an
organisation called OptiPlex. They know about what happened and that all your money
was stolen and lost. They will give you missions to steal money from different people and
companies. This will give you more ways to acquire money but takes more time.
Merchandise: To advertise the game I am going to make some merchandise which will be
easily recognisable, I will be making the following products. I will make a black baseball
cap with the logo of the game on the front and with the words ‘Golden Gate’ across the
back in gold writing. I will make a white silicone phone case with money scattered across
Proposal
2
It with the logo in the centre. This phone case can be paired up with the white pop socket
that I will make which includes just the logo. This pop socket will overlap on top of the
logo on the case. I will make a black t-shirt that has the design of money scattered across
the back and the logo on the front. As the most popular item was the jumpers I will be
making two designs in three different colours. For design one it will be the logo on the
back with the name across the front and this will come in black and black, black and gold,
white and black. For the second design I will scatter money across the back with the
name at the top and will put the logo on the front. This design will also be in black and
black, black and gold, and white and black. I decide to make two designs as that is the
more popular form of merchandising and will be bought more and used to advertise the
actual game.
Game Cover: For my game cover I will get a template for the PS4 Case. This will allow
me to make it look more realistic. For the front cover I will want to include a beach
background with the golden gate bridges as that is where the characters base is located. I
will use the research that I collected to put the character as the key part of the front page.
I will also want to put the Audi R8 as that is an important vehicle for the player. I am going
to put money near the car or somewhere on the floor to show that money is an important
part of the game. In the corner I will include the Pegi 16 logo to show what the target
audience is. For the back cover I will use a light background so that it fits in with the
front’s background. I am also planning on getting some images of gameplay of the game
so that it shows the buyer what they game is about how it looks. I will include writing with
these images to add some description to the cover to fully inform the player what the aim
of the game is and what different things you can do.
Research & Planning
Merchandise: In my research I found out that my audience wanted the main colour for the
merchandise to be black. I will use this bit of research to make sure that nearly all of the
merchandising is black as this will make the buyer more interested to buy my product. I
also found that they prefer the idea of using a jumper for merchandise, so I will make two
designs for jumper as this will have a larger amount of product that they can buy. Also to
increase the amount of product I found that people wanted some products to have mixed
colours so I will make multiple jumpers with different colours.
Game Cover: On my research I found that the main character draws the audience to the
cover more than anything else. I will include the main character to be the key focus of the
front cover to help draw them to the game. Finally I used the research to find what game
covers look like so that I can plan it in a format to make it look better.
Audience:
I am wanting the audience to me in a specific sort of way so that it works better. I have
decided to target my game for people of the age of 16 and upwards, preferably 16-21 as
this is the audience age that answered my survey and it targeted to them. I am also
targeting the game to males as they was also the higher rated audience on my research. I
feel that my project will appeal to the audience well because I have based the audience
on myself and used myself as primary research as I can make the game products so that
like them and they should like it too.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
The game will not include anything that can be classed as offensive to anyone. I will be
restricting it to anyone under the age of 16 due to violence. Due to it only being a 16 I will
not be including anything to the product that can offend any social groups, religions,
ethnicities or races. I will do this by not including anything that could be linked to any sort
of groupings.
All the characters that are being used are all new ones that I have made up myself. The
logo will also be unique as I will be making it on Photoshop. Finally, I made sure that then
name golden gate isn’t any other game by googling it.

Robbing: During online the character will be able to go to the general stores and rob them for a few $100. They can also work together to use their skills to rob banks. This can be done by killing the security guards and hacking into the cameras and the firewalls so that they can steal the money easier. Hacking: The players can go to the weapons store to buy equipment to help them with hacking. Hacking can be used in banks to help disable things and help steal the money. Hacking can also be used on other players to steal money out of their bank accounts but you have to be careful as they can detect you and track you down. Missions: For the online campaign of the game, you have been approached by an organisation called OptiPlex. They know about what happened and that all your money was stolen and lost. They will give you missions to steal money from different people and companies. This will give you more ways to acquire money but takes more time. Merchandise: To advertise the game I am going to make some merchandise which will be easily recognisable, I will be making the following products. I will make a black baseball cap with the logo of the game on the front and with the words ‘Golden Gate’ across the back in gold writing. I will make a white silicone phone case with money scattered across
  • 2. Proposal 2 It with the logo in the centre. This phone case can be paired up with the white pop socket that I will make which includes just the logo. This pop socket will overlap on top of the logo on the case. I will make a black t-shirt that has the design of money scattered across the back and the logo on the front. As the most popular item was the jumpers I will be making two designs in three different colours. For design one it will be the logo on the back with the name across the front and this will come in black and black, black and gold, white and black. For the second design I will scatter money across the back with the name at the top and will put the logo on the front. This design will also be in black and black, black and gold, and white and black. I decide to make two designs as that is the more popular form of merchandising and will be bought more and used to advertise the actual game. Game Cover: For my game cover I will get a template for the PS4 Case. This will allow me to make it look more realistic. For the front cover I will want to include a beach background with the golden gate bridges as that is where the characters base is located. I will use the research that I collected to put the character as the key part of the front page. I will also want to put the Audi R8 as that is an important vehicle for the player. I am going to put money near the car or somewhere on the floor to show that money is an important part of the game. In the corner I will include the Pegi 16 logo to show what the target audience is. For the back cover I will use a light background so that it fits in with the front’s background. I am also planning on getting some images of gameplay of the game so that it shows the buyer what they game is about how it looks. I will include writing with these images to add some description to the cover to fully inform the player what the aim of the game is and what different things you can do. Research & Planning Merchandise: In my research I found out that my audience wanted the main colour for the merchandise to be black. I will use this bit of research to make sure that nearly all of the merchandising is black as this will make the buyer more interested to buy my product. I also found that they prefer the idea of using a jumper for merchandise, so I will make two designs for jumper as this will have a larger amount of product that they can buy. Also to increase the amount of product I found that people wanted some products to have mixed colours so I will make multiple jumpers with different colours. Game Cover: On my research I found that the main character draws the audience to the cover more than anything else. I will include the main character to be the key focus of the front cover to help draw them to the game. Finally I used the research to find what game covers look like so that I can plan it in a format to make it look better. Audience: I am wanting the audience to me in a specific sort of way so that it works better. I have decided to target my game for people of the age of 16 and upwards, preferably 16-21 as this is the audience age that answered my survey and it targeted to them. I am also targeting the game to males as they was also the higher rated audience on my research. I feel that my project will appeal to the audience well because I have based the audience on myself and used myself as primary research as I can make the game products so that like them and they should like it too. Legal & Ethical Considerations: The game will not include anything that can be classed as offensive to anyone. I will be restricting it to anyone under the age of 16 due to violence. Due to it only being a 16 I will not be including anything to the product that can offend any social groups, religions, ethnicities or races. I will do this by not including anything that could be linked to any sort of groupings. All the characters that are being used are all new ones that I have made up myself. The logo will also be unique as I will be making it on Photoshop. Finally, I made sure that then name golden gate isn’t any other game by googling it.
