The document outlines Benjamin Lawrenson's filming timetable for the upcoming week to film characters for his "Day of College" project, with plans to film the nerd and old man on Monday, goth and businessman on Wednesday, and modern teen on Friday, allotting extra time for the most difficult character. It also provides details on editing plans between filming sessions to layer up the characters for the final scene. The timetable aims to get all filming completed in the first week to stay on schedule.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

This is the timetable that I will try
stick to so I can get all the filming
done in the first week. My first
characters will be the nerd and old
man. These two are the base
character and both the characters
for the left side. While I am in
lesson after filming, I will use this
time to edit out the background
from both the characters and get
as much editing done before I film
the next two characters. On
Thursday will go through the same
process for the character on the
right-hand side (goth and
businessman). I will edit out the
background and layer them up so I
can start to the scene taking place.
Friday will be used to film the
modern teen. I have given myself
extra time to film that day as that
character has the hardest role to
get right. Once all the filming has
done, I can start to edit each prop.
4. Mood Board-
Character Position
These three images represent the kind of positioning
that I want my characters to have in my music video. For
example, on all three of these examples you can tell who
is the main/most important character. These characters
are usually shown to be the person in the center of the
screen, this is as the audience will be more focused on
them. The other character that are on the scene will
most likely be back up dancers. On the second image,
the characters to the side are being used to make
movements that creates beats and small tunes for the
song. This allows the focus to stay on the character in
the middle who contributes to the song the most. With
my video I will use this positioning. I will have the
characters in an arrow formation. This will allow me to
easily show all the characters clearly, not have them
overlap to much as you won't be able to see their
movements as well and so that it keeps the main focus
to the character in the middle which will be contributing
got the song the most.
6. Mood Board-
Character costumes
In this section I have picked out five images which
shows my characters best. I want my characters to
have a range of age and looks. The five categories
I have chosen are; Old man, businessman,
goth/emo, nerd and modem day teen. As all the
characters will be played by myself, this will allow
the audience to easily tell the difference between
all the characters. Each character will have a
specific item that then can move for example the
goth could jingle a chain and the nerd could be
turning a page in a book. I will have the modern-
day teen to be the main character in the middle of
the as this character will be the most relatable
character that the audience can relate to, by
doing this the video will be more appealing to
them and they will want to watch. Finally, this
character may have an instrument to play to
create a melody.
8. Mood Board-
Character Design
#1 nerd
For this character I have come across two
different styles of them. On the left is
more of a stereotypical nerd look while on
the right I have started looking at more of
a cool looking nerd. Both styles have pros
and cons. The stereotypical look will make
it easier for the audience to tell the
difference between the other characters.
This style will also also be to use items
such as suspenders and books to create
sounds. The more modern style nerd will
appeal to the audience more as they can
relate to him better. Unfortunately, this
character style is limited to items that
they can use. There costume will also be
like the modern-day teen which might
allow them characters to interact with
each other.
10. Mood Board-
Character Design
#2 goth
This character has two different versions of its
style that I could potentially use. On the left is
more of a 2000’s looking goth. Compared to
the other style this will blend into the video
more and won't stand out. While the other
image is more of a historic goth. The long coat
and looks make the character stand out more
which can be good so that the audience also
notices that character. Both characters have
easy props that they can use, such as a chain
or bracelet. This sound can be used for a
constant beat that the main character can use.
The more modern goth might not be able to
interact as much and might not have much of a
role (musically) as they will be in the corner
being ’shy’ and ‘quiet’. While the other
character will be more ‘active’ with props and
characters.
12. Mood Board- Character
Design #3
old man
This character has two stylings that I could
potentially use. The left image is a stereotypical
old man where is is feebler and needs and walking
stick. This idea is good as this character can use
his walking stick to create a drum themed beat.
This character will limit themselves to what props
they can use as they won't be able to move as
well. While the character on the right is more of a
trendy and active old man look. This character will
be able to use more props which will allow him to
contribute to the song more. This character will
be similar but an older version of the modern
teen. This means that I won't be following my
original plan to make all the look different so that
the audience can easily tell the difference
between them. Finally this modern character will
blend in more. I am planning to try make all
character stand out so that the characters are
unique.
14. Mood Board- Character
Design #4 Business man
This character has two similar designs which
has different props and characteristics. On the
left is a smart businessman, this character can
have props like a briefcase, paperwork or a
pen to click for a beat. This character could
also use speech to contribute to the music as
they could be late for a meeting. The other
style is a more casual businessman. This style
won't have as many props that they can use.
This character might look a little bit more
appealing and modern. This style will be closer
to the audiences age while the smarter style
will be older. The younger casual style could
use modern technology such as a phone or
laptop to create a beat with the tapping of
keys. Finally the look of the causal look might
class with the modern old man and teen while
the smarter look could class with the nerd.
16. Mood Board-
Character Design #5
Modern
This character will be the main centered
character for the music video. These two designs
have different was to play them and different
props I can use. The image on the left is a
smarter version, wearing jeans and a top with a
shirt jacket. This design will allow me the
character to use items such as buttons/zips,
their phone and carrying an instrument to add
to the song. The other character is the same but
without a jacket. This means they won't have
buttons or a zip to use to create a beat. Out of
the two designs the smarter design will suit
walking into the scene with an item such as a
guitar or keyboard. Both character designs will
allow them to play the chosen instrument easily
and will also be able to be more active
compared to all other characters allowing them
to be the main role.
17. Character design-
Nerd Final.
For the final design of the nerd, I have
decided to go for the more geek look
instead of cool nerd. This style of character
won’t fit in with the other characters. This
character will wear black glasses with a
blue shirt tucked into blue jeans. This will
show the character color. He will have
braces to look nerdier. This character will
also have multiple props that he can have.
for example, he can wipe his glasses to
make a continues beat. He can also have a
a book that he turns the page of to create
a beat also. These two can be his main
beats. These can be separated with
something happening either in the scene
or from another character.
18. Character design-
Goth Final.
For the final design of the goth I have gone
for more a traditional style. This character
will be dressed in all black. This will
include. A black t-shirt, black jacket with
zip, black long coat, black jeans and black
boots. The character style will have him
either with his hood up, or with messy
hair. This will make him more unique to
the other characters so that he doesn’t
blend in. this character can use items such
as a chain to rattle to have a background
beat or him trying to zip his jacket up. This
will also create a beat which can link to the
character being cold in the scene. Finally, I
think this design is better as this design will
work better in the scene and allow it to
look better.
19. Character design-
Old man final.
For the final design of the old man I have
decided to go for the more fragile look
instead of cool style. This style of character
won’t fit in with the other characters. This
character will wear round silver glasses, a
grey t-shirt with pale trousers. This look
will symbolize an old look. He will also
have pump shoes and a walking stick. This
character will be limited to items that he
can use. The main item for this character
will be his walking stick. This item will be
used as a ‘drum beat’. This will be a big
support to the song. Through the different
sections the drumbeat will change tempo
and rhythm depending on the song type/
genre.
20. Character design-
Business man final.
For the final design of the businessman I
have decided to go for the smarter look
instead of cool. This style of character
won’t fit in with the other characters. This
character will wear a full blue suit. This will
interact with the characters colors scheme.
This character will have a could of props
that he can use. The two main ones will be
a briefcase and pen. The briefcase can be
use as a knocking sound which will be a
sort of beat to follow. He will also use the
pen to tap and click to make a beat with
different pitched beats. This will have more
detail to the song's beats. This character
will also use his phone to create a taping
sound with the text keys for a beat.
21. Character design-
Modern final.
For the final design of the modern teen I
have decided to go for the smarter look
instead of cool. This style of character
won’t fit in with the other characters. This
character will a red checked shirt open
with a white shirt underneath. He will also
wear either blue or black jeans with red
high-top shoes. This look gives the
character the color scheme that I want.
This character's main prop will be a
keyboard. This character will be sat in the
middle and will create the melody for the
song. Part way through the song when an
occurrence happens in the video, this
character will change the tempo. This
character will be the last to start playing
23. Prop design-
Nerd.
• For the prop of the nerd have decided to go for a laptop and
rucksack. These two items are something that this character
would be carrying around. In the first and third section of the
song, the character will use the typing sound of the laptop to
creating a tapping beat. While in the second section the tempo
increases, the character will change props to his rucksack
where he will use the zip to make the beat. This shows to the
character that there is a new section to the song. I have also
decided these props as they are easily accessible for me as a
student, and I will be able to have a clean and smooth change
over for the props.
24. Prop design-
Goth.
• For the prop of the goth have decided to go for a can with a
straw in it and a pack of cans. These two items are something that
anyone might have in their bag. In the first and third section of the
song, the character will use the cup and drink through the straw to
create the beat. While in the second section the tempo increases,
the character will change props to the pack of cans and tap on top
of the cans. With this I will have each can to have a different pitch
to correspond to the song. This shows to the character that there
is a new section to the song. I have also decided these props as
they are easily accessible to buy, and I will be able to have a clean
and smooth change over for the props.
25. Prop design- Old Man.
• For the prop of the old man, I have decided to go for just
a walking cane like one in the photo. As the old man is
feeble this is an item he would use. In all three sections he
will use this prop to create a deep back beat. In the first
and third section I will use the stick to make one beat and
then for the second section make a new and different beat.
This shows to the character that there is a new section to
the song. I have also decided this prop as it is believable for
the character.
26. Prop design-
Business man.
• For the prop of the businessman have decided to go for a
book and pen and an iPhone. These two items are something
that this character would be carrying around. In the first and
third section of the song, the character will use the pen to tap
on the notebook. While in the second section the tempo
increases, the character will change props to his phone where
he will tap on the phone to create the beat. This shows to the
character that there is a new section to the song. I have also
decided these props as they are easily accessible for me as a
student, and I will be able to have a clean and smooth change
over for the props.
27. Prop design- Modern teen.
• For the prop of the modern teen, I have decided to go for
just the keyboard like one in the photo. As the modern teen
is the main character, the piano will be his chosen prop. In
all three sections he will use this prop to create the melody.
In the first and third section I will use the keyboard to make
the melody and then for the second section redo the first
tube but with a different rhythm. This shows to the
character that there is a new section to the song. I have
also decided this prop this is an instrument I know how to
play and have access too.
29. Mood Board-Creators- Rudy Mancuso
In this part of the mood board, I am looking
specifically at the thumbnail of Rudy
Mancuso. With this thumbnail, Rudy
Mancuso shows all three main character
with the items that they use to create the
best sound. All the items are everyday
things. I think that the thumbnail for my
video will also be important to think about
like this one. For my thumbnail I will try
include all the characters with an object
that they use to tell the audience a little
about the video. I think that by doing this It
will be more appealing to the audience.
In this part of the mood board I am looking
specifically at the content of Rudy
Mancuso. In this video, I can see the layout
of the characters. Their formation allows all
character to be seen. This is something that
I will want to bring into my video. This will
help the audience stay focused in what is
happening as they will have multiple
characters to think about. Secondly, with
this scene illustrates the characters' role,
for example the man in the middle playing
piano to be the main role. This helps to
keep the focus on him as he is most active
with the audio, creating the melody which
lines up with the base.
31. Mood Board-
Location
I have three possible locations to choose
from for my video. The three choices are;
bus top, elevator, waiting room. All of these
are good chose as the character can all be
there and have a reason to wait. These
character call also all be there for a while.
The bus stop and elevator have already
been used for this style of music video by
the creator. These two scenes have good
ambiance that I can use for sound effects
like the elevator voice or traffic at the bus
stop. At the waiting room this will allow all
characters to be in a line so that all
character can be easily seen. If I used this
location, I could have the same sort of set
out where I have the main character in the
middle. I can edit the background to have
posters to represent where it is set, e.g., a
bank. The other possibility is to not link it
to what they are waiting for to let the
audience decide for themselves.
33. Mood Board-
Specific colours
I have chosen 5 specific colors to base my
video with. The color categories are; red, light
blue, dark blue, grey and black. Each color
connect to a character. These 5 colors will be
their theme, this can include their outfit, item
that they use. The color black will be for the
goth, I will use this color for his outfit as this
will fit this character the best. Dark blue for the
businessman which will be used for his suit. I
can also look if there is any props if this color
he can use. Red for the modern teen as he can
use this color in shoes and a jacket. The jacket
can be used to create sound. Light blue for the
nerd. This color can be in his shirt or on a
booklet that he has. With the book he can use
that for sounds. Grey for the old man. This can
show his old age. The color can be used in his
hair. Finally, the color grey is a bland shade,
and this symbolizes that this character is bland.
34. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• Character position- with this there are lots of images that have the main
character in the middle. This shows to the audience that this character is the
more important one. All the other characters are positions in a formation so
that everyone can be easily seen.
• Locations- in this slide there was lots with the same layout. This allows the
audience to see the characters straight on. With the waiting room images,
they all have chairs which allow the characters to have distance so that they
don’t clash onto each other.
• Colours- I have chosen five groups of colours that I think will work best with
the characters. They all shoe three different shades of the colour which
allows me to explore through multiple different shades to make their
costume look more natural to what somebody would wear.
• Props- I have worked out props that we will work best with the character
roles and what they might have on them at the time. I have also worked out
how they will sound in the song to fit the prop to the usage.
