Fort Sumter Research Paper
The Battle of Fort Sumter marked the primary exchange of gun fire within the Civil War. when seven
southern states proceeded with their declarations of secession, the state of South Carolina demanded
that Federal (United States) troops stationed at Fort Moultrie (in Charleston Harbor) abandon the fort.
On Dec twenty six, 1860, however, Union Major General Richard Anderson repositioned his troops
from Fort Moultrie to Fort Sumter, he thought Fort Sumter was easier defended. South Carolina
afterwards confiscated all the Federal forts in South Carolina but Fort Sumter. 2 weeks later, U.S.
president at the time James Buchanan approved the delivery of reinforcements to Fort Sumter. The
ship carrying the reinforcements was shot upon by batteries

Under Western Eyes By Kirylo Sidorovich Razumov
In 1911, Polish British novelist Joseph Conrad composed Under Western Eyes. Conrad is commonly
regarded as one of the greatest novelist ever to write in the English language due in large part to his
stylistic choices, philosophical insights, and general prose proficiency. Under Western Eyes is a
voluminous text with many philosophical undertones, a complex plot, and complicated narrative
structure. The protagonist of the story, Kirylo Sidorovich Razumov, experiences much turmoil due to
his betrayal of a fellow student and revolutionary named Victor Haldin, and finds his entire existence
convoluted new social ties, new emotions, and an inner moral conflict. The question the novel raises
has to do with Razumov s changed circumstances and how these affect his character. Although it is
tempting to see him as a transformed character, that interpretation is not entirely persuasive. I would
suggest that Razumov is, from beginning to end, marked by his inveterate independent nature as an
incorrigible loner.
In the beginning of the novel Razumov s character is introduced. He leads a solitary life, having no
family, friends or real purpose and is therefore independent. These characteristics are relayed by the
narrator, who has read Razumov s diary and thus is able to speak with some authority about Razumov
s qualities as a person. After reading the diary, the narrator notes in the beginning of the story, The
word Razumov was the mere label of a solitary individuality. . . . His

Wine Cellar Myths
Whether you re building a wine cellar in Houston TX or another state, you want to be sure everything
is perfect. There are many people around the world who love wine, but not all of them have a wine
cellar in which they can safely store their wine. One of the reasons they may have opted to not build
one could be that they have believed the many myths about wine cellars. What they may not know is
that these myths they have chosen to believe are really just common misconceptions.
Here are five myths people may have believed about wine cellars.
1. Stains are toxic.
While there are some stains out their that are not ideal for use in a wine cellar, there are alternatives to
the stains that people consider toxic. Stains give wine racks a stylish appearance, which is why many
people may choose to apply one to their racks. If you want to stain ... Show more content on

The bigger the refrigerator, the better.
You will most likely want to keep your wine chilled, so that means you ll need a refrigerator.
However, this doesn t mean that the refrigerator needs to be the biggest one on the market. As long as
you have a fridge that will keep your wine at the ideal temp, then size does not matter.
5. Wine cellars are expensive.
Wine cellars can be fancy and stylish, but that doesn t mean they have to expensive. There are various
wine racks available, as well as companies that can build you your dream cellar and won t drive you
broke.
If you love wine, a cellar would be the perfect addition to your home. You may have been skeptical
before, but now that you know the truth about wine cellars, you may be open to building one. Should
you finally make the decision to add a wine cellar to your home, you have many options as to how
may do so.

Cause Of Flooding In Texas And Oklahoma
In May of 2015, a slow moving storm producing record amounts of rainfall and tornados caused flash
floods across Texas and Oklahoma causing mass destruction and many causalities. Flooding in Texas
and Oklahoma does not happen often in most areas. Some areas have not seen rainfall totals like what
was seen in May for more than 50 years. The flooding in May of 2015 was the most widespread and
record breaking. In some areas houses were ripped from their foundations. In Wimberley, Texas, a
family was still in the house as it washed away, killing a mother and her two children. Trees were
uprooted as well as lakes, rivers and creeks overflowed their banks. Streets and interstates were shut
down because of the flooding. A tornado, touching down

The Origins of Occidentalism
To answer the question posed it necessary to first consider the development of, and what constitutes
the West. Once this is achieved, we are than able to discuss occidentalism. However, the concept of
orientalism, and what constitutes the orient, will first be considered as, arguably, orientalism provoked
occidentalism. Thereafter, the four key features of occidentalism, identified by Buruma and Margalit
(2004) will be discussed. Contemporary notions of ociddentalism, more specifically Islamic
extremism will also be studied; of must importance here is if, or how, Buruma s and Margalit s (2004)
theory of occidentalism aids our understanding of the perspective of those in resistance to the west.
From 1815 to 1914 the European ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has always been opposition to the development of the west. Occidentalism creates a
dehumanising picture of the west, painted by its enemies. Buruma and Margalit (2004) state,
Occidentalism has its origins in the West. Buruma (2004) argues, contemporary Islamic occidentalists
are not fully foreign to the West they despise; many Islamic radicals borrow their anti western
concepts from Russian and German philosophy. People with little history and even less intellectual
capacity would have no idea why the hate and should hate the west, let alone understand the complex,
pluralistic nature of western societies and culture. (Buruma and Margalit 2004:48) To argue that the
main roots of anti western attitudes lie in the West is to belittle and underestimate the histories,
traditions and cultures of non western societies. Anti westernism has been rising over the past two or
three decades, it is currently closely associated with Islamic extremism. The Islamic contribution to
Occidentalism is a religious vision of purity in which the idolatrous west has to be destroyed (Buruma
2004). Buruma and Margalit (2004) argue there are four hostile aspects of the occidental view of the
West: a hatred of the city, rationality or the loss of the soul, an anti bourgeois attitude and anti
feminism. Those who dislike the west see it in similar terms as a machine like society without a soul

In Jon Krakauer s novel, Into Thin Air, the strongest character is clearly Rob Hall, the expedition s
head guide, who perished during the expedition. Rob Hall was a thirty five year old guide who had
reached Everest s summit four times before leading the expedition that killed him. Rob Hall is the
strongest character because he was a both brave and wise, and he always put others first. Rob Hall is
extremely brave not only had he reached Everest s summit four times before the 1996 expedition (a
mountain which has claimed over 250 lives), but had also attempted it several more times. He and his

Active Learner
Upon taken the study skills quiz my first score first was active. I was a reflective learner, which prefer
to think about it quietly at first versus being an active learner. I am not an active learner. An active
learner tends to retain and understand information best by doing something active with it. If a student
was an active learner in my classroom I would use the phrase, Let s try it out, move around, and
visually do it to see how it works. It tells the student that I am willing to be active instead of sitting
down all the time. By being active it keeps the student moving and focused on the activity. (Scruggs,
2017) With an active learner, I would also try to do group work more often so that each member can
talk and be personable with each other. (Soloman, n.d.) By doing activities in group work will also

Sensing learners like learning facts which I sometimes enjoy, because information is easier to
remember when connected to the real world. Versus intuitive learners often prefer discovering
possibilities and relationships, which I do not enjoy as much. If I had a student that was an intuitive
learner I would try to link information to hard facts and help a student pay attention to the details and
have patience while learning. An intuitive learner also can be kind of scatter brained, so when
presenting the intuitive student with a question, I would give them an empty piece of paper to
brainstorm on. (Felder, n.d.) By letting them brain storm it gives them a moment to organize their
thoughts and helps me as a teacher understand where their learning style is going towards. Intuitive
learners also like to use the trial and error approach, which I would allow my student to do. If they had

Sucker Punch Gameplay Engineer Questions
Sucker Punch Gameplay Engineer Questions
Question 1
Imagine that you re designing a new attack for an enemy in a melee focused third person action game.
Just to choose a random example, let s say it s a Minotaur in a God of War style game. What factors
do you consider when designing the attack, and how do you prioritize these factors?
Basic factors about the attack:
1. Area: The area in which the attack could potentially fall upon
2. Duration: The duration of the attack
3. Frequency: How often this attack is used
4. Range: The maximum distance the attack can reach
5. Size: The area of effect of the attack
6. Damage: Damage per attack
7. Effects: Extra properties of attack, like poison or slow effect
8. Cooldown: How long does it take to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the attack speed will be compared to player s movement speed, and attack area will be
compared to the size of the fighting room.
Among these factors, the most important one should be Dogdgeability. Like in the famous action
game Dark Souls, bosses and enemies attack damage is usually quite high and cause players to die a
lot. However, the game still makes players think it is fair, because a lot of attacks are dodgeable by
skillful players. If the attack cannot be dodged systematically, we will be limited when adjusting other
factors of the attack, because the players will always receive damage from the attack. As a result, the
attack cannot be too strong, and the game will be less exciting. On the other hand, if the attack can be
dogdged, we can make it as strong as we like and with all kinds of effects. This increases the feeling
of achievement when player successfully dodged it.
After we design how it could be dodged, we can measure by playtesting how difficult it is to dodge
the attack. After that, we can assign the damage inversely proportional to the rate of successful dodge.
In summary, we could prioritize the factors by groups as following:
(Dodgeability: Area, Duration, Range, Size, Subattack Counts, Preparation, Room Coverage,
Smartness, Movement) (Frequency, Damage, Effects, Cooldown, Animation) (Properties,
Environment Destruction)
We could further prioritize the factors in dodgeability group as follows.
First we could decide (Area,

Gender Roles In Disney Movies
Disney is known for fairy tale films that are full of lovable characters that children cannot seem to get
enough of. The traits of many of the characters are great models for children to watch and learn from.
Adults tend to see a bit more than just the good qualities they embody, which leads to the realization
that these films are far from perfect. Upon closer inspection, Disney films embrace patriarchal and
sexist ideologies when it comes to their characters something that Disney has been nearly successful
in eradicating in their most recent films. From the earliest films to the most recent, the portrayal of
gender roles, of both the hero/heroine and the villain, has changed for the better. The earliest

In response to criticism and to avoid being called sexist, Disney started using more male villains.
According to Amy Davis, there exists several different types of male villain: pirate kings, enemies of
the earth, magically dangerous, criminally dangerous, comic, and idiotic. Ratcliffe, from Pocahontas,
is an enemy of the earth villain and concerned only with what wealth he can gain from the land. The
Shadow Man, from The Princess and the Frog, is a magically dangerous villain and a practitioner of
voodoo. He exerts his magical power to manipulate other people to do what he wishes, and his
primary goal consists of becoming ridiculously wealthy. Shan yu, from Mulan, is a criminally
dangerous and arrogant villain with a grandiose sense of self who is intent on conquering the whole of
China. Hans, from Frozen, is probably a criminally dangerous villain, although he lacks mention in
Davis s book. Being the youngest in his family, he feels as though he does not get anything he believes
he deserves, so he manipulates Anna to gain access to her kingdom and wealth. Gaston, from Beauty
and the Beast, is a comic villain composed of more brawn than brain. He only cares about acquiring
wealth, a category that also includes Belle. These male villains all have similar characteristics greed,
arrogance, overconfidence, and violent tendencies (Amy Davis Ch.

The prosecution opens their case by making a speech to the jury. He introduces himself and states that
he is appearing on behalf of the prosecution and introduces the attorney appearing on behalf of the

The prosecutions speech sets out the burden of proof and the standard of proof which they have to

the elements of the offence necessary to show the defendant s guilt. The prosecution s opening

cross examination and the re examination. The first stage, examination in chief, is the questioning of a
witness by the party calling him .In examination in chief the party calling a witness, or counsel on his
behalf, will seek to elicit evidence which supports his version of the facts in issue. The witnesses, who
have been summoned, will be called on a one by one basis. These witnesses will not be allowed to sit

Community Water System
The environmental justice hypothesis as stated by Brown, P. is that hazards in the physical and
chemical environmental disproportionately affect those individuals and households that also face
hazards in their social environment. What Brown is indicating is that environmental justice is mostly
seen being acted upon people belonging to the groups of poor, minority and color. The issue of
injustice of exposure of arsenic in poor, minority and color groups is a complex one because of the
natural occurrence of arsenic in ground water shows no bias in who it affects. It can only be avoided
through adequate testing and treatment. The injustice stems from the legal enforcement of new
regulation of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SWDA), updated on January 22, 2001, and the differences
in detection and treatment as subject to different racial and socioeconomic groups. Regulated
communities are asking for flexibility in design of enforcement because it is harder for small public
water systems (PWS) to adhere to new regulation. Smaller systems are unable to adhere to new
regulation in time because they do not have the finances to update technology and machinery. Since
they serve a smaller number of people the cost of updating their facilities is higher per person. Larger
systems are able to spread out the cost more efficiently among a larger number of people making it
easier for them to comply (Cory, D.C.).

Solar Power Importance
Solar power is an important aspect of life that people should consider putting in their homes. Solar
power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple uses. It can be
used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power is created by
using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the sun s rays to create renewable
energy for homes and businesses. Solar power is saved during the daylight so that it can be used
during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t, the solar panel can
still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a cloudy day, the thicker the
clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009).
Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used in
places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to have
solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a good spot for
the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there.
The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. Solar panels are made up of mostly
different types of silicon and glass like substances. The process of making them and installing them is
costly, but after that they are done, they are fine. A photovoltaic cell is a cell that converts solar energy
into electrical energy(

Literary Devices Used In The Canterbury Tales
In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer provides a look into the facets of the Catholic Church
during the Medieval times. By using a variety of characters, he shows that the church was deceptive
and fake. Chaucer s commentary ranges from situational irony and sarcasm. Using these literary
devices we can show how corrupt the church really is.
In The Prologue, chaucer shows that the church was deceptive using the characters, the nun and the
pardoner. The pardoner was deceptive because he would sell fake relics to the parsons to make more
money, an example of this is this quote from the prologue For in his bag he had a pillowcase Of which
he said, it was Our True Ladys veil:...In that one day gathered more money Than the parson in two
months, that easy.(695 706) Another character that comes off as deceptive is the Nun, Chaucer writes
about her in a way that makes it sound like he likes the Nun and thinks she is all pure but in reality he
is using sarcasm to mock her. An example of this sarcasm is She was very pleasant, ... Show more

It was essentially their government and Chaucer wanted to point out all the flaws in it and how it
should be, rather than how it is right now. He simply wanted people to know how the clergy is
potentially doing more harm than good to people in their society. The clergy members in The Prologue
reveal that the Catholic Church was immoral and unprincipled for the most part, everyone in the
clergy had the intention of being good, however let their personal interests get into their way. Whether
it was greed or deception that got in the way, it affected their effectiveness in society in some sort of
way. However, Chaucer thought that the Parson is what everyone in the clergy should strive to be, not
only did he fulfill his role in society but he went above and beyond and helped as many people as he

Analysis Of The Movie Coming Of America With Arsenio...
Travel is another manner to learn about life away from usual life. Urry (1990) states that holidays,
tourism, and travel are consumed because they supposedly generate pleasurable experiences which are
different from those typically encountered in everyday life. The director John Landis demonstrates it
in his movie Coming to America with Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, and Eddie Murphy (Akeem) as
the principal character. Eddie Murphy is a young prince from one of the African Kingdom who wants
to experience something different in the United States from what he has been experiencing until his 21

The director of the movies, with this scene, supports Urry (1990) who said, The experiential,
experimental and the existence do not rely on the environmental bubble of conventional tourist
service. Indeed Murphy choice as a young African tourist is not conventional tourism.
Akeem is experiencing a new lifestyle by getting an apartment in a very dirty building and losing all
his items of luggage that were stolen by the poor people of the neighborhood. As he hears the
neighbors are making noises; he talks also louder to express his happiness and his viewpoint as his
neighbors in the building. He claims, I am a life, Descartes express this as, I think therefore I am. The
director paints here the difference between of life between his journey and in his kingdom where he
could not totally express himself in front of his father the king. I am a life. This phrase indicates also
that this journey is a way to find his own path as until now he is living under the rule of his royal
parent. Urry (1990) mentions that the desire of traveling as a need to restore the body and mind. To
continue to be himself, he cuts also the hair symbol of his royalty family. Bauer and McKercher
(2003) claim that tourists increase their degree of anonymity and freedom. Graburn (2001) links that

Issues Of The Modeling Industry
Issues in the Modeling Industry Fashion is everything to society and the media, but everyone wants to
look good while feeling beautiful in their own way. Everyone believes that fashion is an easy,
fashionable, and sophisticated style. Today, the modeling industry has become negative for older and
younger women. The people in the industry do not prefer unhealthy body images such as pictures of
overweight women. Women suffer from depression and anxiety. The modeling industry has been very
harmful towards women in America. It effects women by not achieving a healthy, being strong, and
confident body image regardless of shape and size.
Having a skinny body is very important in the modeling industry. Bigger women always get turned
down. This makes them feel unhealthy and not as beautiful as the other women that are modeling. The
hard part for models is to keep their weight down to a certain number, otherwise, they are not allowed
to model anymore. Today, in America many women are suffering from eating disorders, and other
negative behaviors which make women do things to their body that they should not do. Men are
attracted to healthy women regardless if the woman is older. Most modeling agencies prefer skinny
women because they believe having smaller women as models would attract men there to support
them. The media thinks being overweight is ugly which is unfair for bigger women because women of
any size should be able to model. The media shows thin women on television

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Fibromyalgia
Abstract
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder that is characterized by a set of symptoms. These symptoms
include muscle pain, joint pain, and fatigue. It can also lead to depression. Fibromyalgia has been
compared to other disorders such as bursitis and tendinitis. The similarities in signs and symptoms
make it a little difficult to diagnose. Women are most likely to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It is
still unknown as to why Fibromyalgia is more common in women. However, men and children are
still susceptible to the disorder. The cause for Fibromyalgia is relatively unknown. However, there are
indicators that my lead medical professionals to believe that certain factors can lead to Fibromyalgia.
Researchers are currently undergoing tests to determine whether or not a person is predisposed with a
gene that may cause Fibromyalgia. Diagnosing Fibromyalgia in patients is based strictly on the
amount of pain felt by the patient. Treatment of Fibromyalgia can be difficult due to the small number
of doctors who have knowledge of the condition. It is important to seek medical help from providers
who have extensive knowledge of Fibromyalgia such as rheumatologist.

Religious Metaphors In The Story Of Langston s Salvation
Salvation means for most people that this is when their perception changes in life and about life.
Salvation is when someone comes to a certain realization that things around them are changing, and
the way they once looked at life is now different. Salvation relates to the story of a young individual in
this story name Langton that was saved from his own innocence. Langston was a twelve year old who
majority of his time in the church with his aunt. As he grew up he saw the many changes of people
and faces the church. Langston was starting to lose faith. He did not know if he should believe there
was a Jesus. Langston gave up hope on Jesus when he was lost and confused, and he felt there was no
one there to help him in his time of need. Hughes faced some challenging experiences and this
demonstrated to him how adults may confuse children, especially when adults don t take the time to
explain the religious metaphors children are trying to understand. Langston s, Auntie Reed is primarily
responsible for his loss of faith at an early age. Langston s aunt should of taken the time explaining to
Langston that Jesus words were as they appear in The Sermon on the Mount serve as a useful guide
for living one s life, she told him that when you were saved you saw a light, and something happened
to your insides! At that point when Langston heard those words he was more confused than before.

Abortion And The Second Presidential Debate Essay
I have chosen to write about abortion and its role in the third presidential debate of 2016. To begin, we
need to understand abortion and how it is received in the United States before we try to understand
how the current candidates addressed abortion. Abortion has been a hot button topic in the United
States since Roe vs. Wade in 1973 when criminalizing abortion was considered unconstitutional under
the Due Process clause of the 14th amendment. This trial created a nationwide debate on not only the
legalization of abortion but also the restrictions and regulations. To best understand the topic, it is best
we look at both sides of the issue. Pro Life or anti abortion activists often argue that the fetus is a
human immediately after fertilization, resulting in murder or killing innocent human beings. Pro
Choice or Pro abortion activists often argue that regardless of the status of the fetus, women should
have the right to choose what to do with their bodies. According to the National Abortion Federation
on prochoice.org, abortion was common and openly used around the time of the creation of the
constitution. In the mid 1800 s abortion became illegal state by state, the reasoning behind
criminalization varied by state but it was believed there was a fear the population would be primarily
children of immigrants rather that Anglo Saxon women if abortion remained legal. The third debate
primarily focused on later term abortions. Typically abortions are considered late term

Nursing II course. Is Hands Only CPR effective? Cardiac arrest is when there is an electrical glitch in
the heart that causes an arrhythmia and interrupts the flow of blood to the brain, lungs and other vital
organs. It is one of the leading causes of death. Every year more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur in
the community and not in a medical facility ( CPR Facts and Stats ). What I want to know is in a
community dwelling with adults, how effective is hands only CPR versus hands plus breathing CPR at
preventing mortality? When a person goes into cardiac arrest, their survival ... Show more content on

Safar conducted research on current basic life support procedures that included taking control a person
s airway by tilting back their head with an open mouth and then using mouth to mouth breathing. He
then merged this with a method known as closed chest cardiac massage to develop the basic life
support method of CPR. In 2008, the American Heart Association revealed a statement about Hands
Only CPR, saying that eyewitnesses who witness a sudden collapse of an adult that you should call
911 immediately and then deliver high quality chest compressions by forceful pushing hard and
quickly in the middle of the victim s chest ( History of CPR ). Is Hands Only CPR as effective and is
long term survival jeopardized? According to the American Heart Association, hands only CPR can be
just as effective as the traditional mouth to mouth with compressions CPR. It has been proven that
more witnesses are apt to perform hands only CPR if they do not have to implement mouth to mouth
breathing. A victim of sudden cardiac arrest, receiving chest compressions from eyewitness, is more
likely to survive without any brain

The Pros And Cons Of Pterosaurs
Neither bats nor birds, pterosaurs were considered reptiles. And although scientists have long debated
where exactly pterosaurs fit on the reptile s family tree, it has been proven time and again that they
were close cousins to dinosaurs but just evolved on a different family line. The top theory as of now
among scientists is that pterosaurs, crocodiles, and dinosaurs are closely related to each other as a
group. In the kingdom of Animalia, these three belong to a group known as archosaurs. The
Prehistoric Flying Reptiles Pterosaurs flourished during the age of dinosaurs, more than 150 million

The Argument That Young Pterosaurs Weren t Flightless Other authors of the study add a good point,
opposing that their discovery doesn t necessarily prove that the young pterosaurs were born flightless.
Michael Habib, one of the authors and a paleontologist at the University of Southern California,
claimed that the wings are more robust compared to the hind limbs. Furthermore, Habib said that the
structure and the bone share are both integral to tell the strength of the species. The other researchers
suspect that some juvenile, eggs, and adult individuals were washed away from the nesting site due to
the storm in the lake, where later on they were fossilized. Unwin further said that it is possible that a

Women were not only householders but providers. This change conflicted with the traditional woman.
But as the war ended, men returned home, and women were pushed back into the households. This
piece of history plays an essential role in how the women were presented in the film noir. Hollywood
offers a progressive representation of those working women who went back quietly. The femme fatale
took the strength of independence during the war. The women were then portrayed as cold and cruel,
directly reflecting upon the sour truth of the reality the unfair treatment the women. Both Phyllis and
Brigid were manipulative, controlling, and powerful women; consistently depicting the irony.
Moreover, the time period of 1960s and 70s, was the period of women s liberation and feminism. At
the same time, the country was also experiencing the post Watergate world. So, the movie Chinatown,
presents both those aspects of the society. Polanski strongly emphasizes on the corruption and
complexities of the dark society throughout the movie, while remaining true to the character of
Evelyn. Women in this time period are no longer illustrated as strong and cold, but rather independent
and dehumanized. Clearly, it still made woman dangerous, but more liberated. This is the main reason
behind why Evelyn is shown as a soft femme fatale character. She is dangerous and possess all the
qualities of the femme fatale, but she has a reason behind her actions.

An Analysis Of Irwin Shaw s The Girls
The Girls in Their Summer Dresses is a short story by Irwin Shaw, which presents readers with a daily
basis relationship situation of a young woman and her husband. The story goes through refined
changes of tone and mood in the dialogue; the narration is done from a dramatic perspective, which
creates suspense and tension. The author lets the story advance through the characters conversation. In
addition, the writer s voice comes in to describe the emotional states, reactions, and tone of voice of
the characters as this shift during the conversations. The dialogue attains a meaningful colloquial tone,
which is mirrored in the dramatic dialogue. This assertion is depicted in the spouse s point of view, the
couple s trust and love for one another, as well as their discussions. From these expressions, the reader
notices jealousy, arrogance, and frustration. Irwin Shaw articulates these illustrations through
character, imagery, and tone.
The main conflict in The Girls in Their Summer Dresses occurs between Michael and Frances, his
spouse of five years. A conflict is a scuffle between contrasting forces. As such, the opposing forces
here are Frances and Michael. As the couple strolls in New York City s streets, Frances remarks that
Michael is looking at other women passing by. As shocking as this comment might be, we get to learn
that Michael s behavior is not a new thing. Nevertheless, it makes Frances feel tremendously sad and
self conscious, despite the fact that she is

The Gangster Film Genre Of The Mafia
The gangster film genre is a subgenre of the crime film, dealing with organized crime and more often
than not, the Mafia. Though gangster films have their root in the silent era, the genre became widely
popular in the 1930 s Hollywood Studio era, which is characterized by the Hollywood Genre System.
Genre films offered economic advantages, including the repeated use of standardized themes,
elements, characters and iconography. Additionally, genre films were easily marketable, as audiences
knew what to expect from each genre. If a viewer enjoyed one film from a particular genre, they were
likely to enjoy any other film falling into that genre. Specific themes and elements can be readily

Holden Uses Defense Mechanisms
Consequently, Holden uses defense mechanisms, as a means of preventing anxiety that would result
from conscious awareness of disturbing impulses, wishes, or ideas arising from the id, (Nevid 471).
Nevid explains that according to Freudian theory, defense mechanisms reside in the unconscious part
of the human brain because if people were conscious of every single problem, people wouldn t be able
to function. Therefore, Holden is subconsciously utilizing defense mechanisms in order to shield
himself from confronting his problems. One major defense mechanism present in Holden s behavior is
denial. Holden s resides in an ivory tower, reluctant to accept that he s actually hurt. For example,
Holden encounters an elevator man named Maurice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although defense mechanisms can help put off a certain problem for some time, relying on defense
mechanisms is not always beneficial because it gives people reasons to act irrationally. This
clarification of Freud s theory is strongly portrayed in Holden s exaggerated view of reality. His denial
triggers delusional fantasies in Holden s mind that he doesn t seem to think deeply about. For
example, when one rash thought entered into Holden s mind, he delivers an ultimatum to Sally,
saying, ...Tomorrow morning we could drive up to Massachusetts and Vermont...We ll stay in cabin
camps until the dough runs out. Then, when the dough runs out, I could get a job somewhere, and we
could live somewhere with a brook and all and, later on, we could get married or something, (Salinger
132). At the age of sixteen, as if it s not unrealistic enough, he tries to persuade Sally. When Sally
gives him a reality check, he practically rages at her. Holden is so blinded by the fantasy world he
created for himself and his defense mechanisms were giving Holden an excuse to acting abnormally.
As a result, he blames Sally for the unreasonable idea he proposed, calling her a royal pain in the ass,
(133). This irrational behavior of Holden is exactly what Freud is illustrating in his theory of
personality that depending on defense mechanisms for relieving stressful

Alan Mann Short Story
Alan Mann s Life Story
Alan Mann
Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Alan Mann s Life Story Alan Mann was born in 1974 in the city of Monroe, Michigan. Monroe is
about 40 miles South of Detroit on Lake Erie. He has two older brothers named Jason and Michael.
Alan s parents met when they were in the Navy. His father changed services to the Army and was
stationed in Monroe as a recruiter after returning from the Vietnam War. Being born the son of an
Army member makes one an Army Brat which means moving very often and attending several
schools over one s lifetime (Baker, 2015). One of his earliest memories is of his mother bundling him
up to go outside in the heavy snows of a Michigan winter storm. In 1978, the family moved to Mainz,
Germany where he attended the first grade. While stationed there, the family visited many German
castles, learned a lot of German history, went on Volksmarches which were noncompetitive
walkathons (AVA) and met a lot of interesting people. In 1981, the family moved back to the United
States to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. There, Alan attended Logan Heights Elementary School. His
house was on a street that had a dead end. Beyond the dead end was literally the desert complete with
cactuses, tumbleweeds, horned frogs, and tarantulas. He loved going over the border to Juarez,
Mexico with the family and haggling with the merchants for items. Finally, in 1982 the family moved
to Ft. Polk, Louisiana for his last move which is where his father retired from the military. In
Louisiana, Alan attended Leesville Junior High and High School. He graduated with honors in 1992.
He enrolled at Northwestern State University for the fall semester. However, he was working full time,
had an hour long commute to classes, and a new girlfriend that would soon be his wife. His grades
weren t very good. Alan decided perhaps he was ready for a break from school and was ready to do a
little growing up . Having a long history of military service in his family, he looked to do his duty and
serve also. After talking with the recruiters in his home town, the Air Force seemed to have the jobs he
found most interesting. He took the ASVAB test and scored high enough to select any job the Air

The company was also the first UK retailer to register profits of more than £2 billion. This is hardly

The company has been able to draw customers away from rivals whilst consolidating their grip on the

The Importance Of Freedom Of Expression In Education
The first bell rings. Students walk into class. During class, the teacher asks questions to the students,
yet no students raise their hand to answer it. This is like what happens to students when it comes to
their freedom of expression. Students, like these in the classroom, are constricted in the way they
express themselves. Students are not allowed to have their freedom of expression in schools, but that
is not how it should be. Students should be able to express themselves without limits because it is a
right in the First Amendment, it brings people together, and it gives students a voice.
All students should be granted their freedom of expression for it is a right they are given in the First
Amendment. The First Amendment states that all people, including students, have the freedom to
speak their opinions and may also take part in the democracy. But, when students have a chance to do
so, they are punished for it. In a West Chicago case of a school play being canceled, students dressed
in costumes and the supporters stood outside after the morning bell rung. After the protest, the
students faced suspension and their graduation at risk (S Ahmed Ullah). This is important because the
students of the school had the right to protest in that way because of their freedom of speech granted
to them by the First Amendment. But instead of their actions being accepted and the school listening
to what they had to say to try and change it, students were instead punished for their

Theme Of Truth And Ignorance In John Knowles A Separate...
In life, there are two opposing forces that wage a constant war in men s hearts, truth and ignorance.
While some walk along the enlightened path of truth, others are blinded by the veil of ignorance,
unable to see anything beyond their distorted view of the world. In John Knowles A Separate Peace,
two maturing teens named Gene and Finny feel the effects of this inner strife, which shapes their
actions and causes the fall, and eventual death, of Finny. While Gene comes to terms with the glaring
light of truth, Finny continues to hide behind a veil of ignorance and innocence, unable to handle the

Near the end of the novel, Brinker organizes a mock trial in which Gene is accused of causing Finny s
fall. Throughout the trial, Finny adamantly denies Gene s involvement, claiming Gene was not even
on the tree when he fell. However, the arrival of Leper, a fellow classmate, causes him to doubt
himself. Leper is an innocent schoolboy who joins the military but deserts after going insane. He
returns to Devon Academy, where he is invited by Brinker to shed light upon the incident, which he
does by revealing Gene s involvement in Finny s fall. Finny, unable to handle the truth, emotionally
retreats from the room as he shouts You get the rest of the facts Brinker....you collect every f ing fact
there is in the world! (Knowles 177). Finny reacts emotionally to the truth because accepting it would
mean accepting his closest companion is no longer to be trusted. This is particularly scarring for Finny
because after his theory about the war is shattered, he becomes dependent on Gene s loyalty and
candor: Christ, I ve got to believe you, at least. I know you better than anybody (Knowles 163). In
both cases, Finny s innocent beliefs are shattered by Leper, who illuminates the reality of the world s
evils and consequently destroys Finny s blissful ignorance. Leper symbolizes the unadulterated truth;

The Health Records Of Healthcare
The health record has been around for many years, and it first started with a group of individuals in
the 1920 s to realize that documenting health care data provided better quality care. Healthcare
providers recognized that they were able to treat patients more accurately with a documented history
of the patients. It wasn t until the 1980 s that healthcare professionals started to venture out into the
computerized healthcare technology. In the 90 s technology was making gains and healthcare
continued to venture forward into the modern more computerized world of healthcare informatics.
One of the revolutionary feature of this era was the ability to get patients test results via computers,
the only downsize was that they were only attainable through that computer alone. That type of
information had no way of traveling though another computer. By the year 2000, a push to make
electronic records began due to the spike of patient death and injuries due to medical errors by
healthcare providers. In an article written in 2009 shortly after President Obama took office, it was
mentioned that President Barack Obama wanted to computerize the nation s health care records in five
years. But many concerns came with this notion such as money, time and specialized training. The
total cost of this health care initiative plan would cost at least $75 billion to $100 billion dollars over

Fort Sumter Research Paper The Battle of Fort Sumter marked the primary exchange of gun fire within the Civil War. when seven southern states proceeded with their declarations of secession, the state of South Carolina demanded that Federal (United States) troops stationed at Fort Moultrie (in Charleston Harbor) abandon the fort. On Dec twenty six, 1860, however, Union Major General Richard Anderson repositioned his troops from Fort Moultrie to Fort Sumter, he thought Fort Sumter was easier defended. South Carolina afterwards confiscated all the Federal forts in South Carolina but Fort Sumter. 2 weeks later, U.S. president at the time James Buchanan approved the delivery of reinforcements to Fort Sumter. • 3. Under Western Eyes By Kirylo Sidorovich Razumov In 1911, Polish British novelist Joseph Conrad composed Under Western Eyes. Conrad is commonly regarded as one of the greatest novelist ever to write in the English language due in large part to his stylistic choices, philosophical insights, and general prose proficiency. Under Western Eyes is a voluminous text with many philosophical undertones, a complex plot, and complicated narrative structure. The protagonist of the story, Kirylo Sidorovich Razumov, experiences much turmoil due to his betrayal of a fellow student and revolutionary named Victor Haldin, and finds his entire existence convoluted new social ties, new emotions, and an inner moral conflict. The question the novel raises has to do with Razumov s changed circumstances and how these affect his character. Although it is tempting to see him as a transformed character, that interpretation is not entirely persuasive. I would suggest that Razumov is, from beginning to end, marked by his inveterate independent nature as an incorrigible loner. In the beginning of the novel Razumov s character is introduced. He leads a solitary life, having no family, friends or real purpose and is therefore independent. These characteristics are relayed by the narrator, who has read Razumov s diary and thus is able to speak with some authority about Razumov s qualities as a person. After reading the diary, the narrator notes in the beginning of the story, The word Razumov was the mere label of a solitary individuality. . . . His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Cause Of Flooding In Texas And Oklahoma In May of 2015, a slow moving storm producing record amounts of rainfall and tornados caused flash floods across Texas and Oklahoma causing mass destruction and many causalities. Flooding in Texas and Oklahoma does not happen often in most areas. Some areas have not seen rainfall totals like what was seen in May for more than 50 years. The flooding in May of 2015 was the most widespread and record breaking. In some areas houses were ripped from their foundations. In Wimberley, Texas, a family was still in the house as it washed away, killing a mother and her two children. Trees were uprooted as well as lakes, rivers and creeks overflowed their banks. Streets and interstates were shut down because of the flooding. A tornado, touching down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Origins of Occidentalism To answer the question posed it necessary to first consider the development of, and what constitutes the West. Once this is achieved, we are than able to discuss occidentalism. However, the concept of orientalism, and what constitutes the orient, will first be considered as, arguably, orientalism provoked occidentalism. Thereafter, the four key features of occidentalism, identified by Buruma and Margalit (2004) will be discussed. Contemporary notions of ociddentalism, more specifically Islamic extremism will also be studied; of must importance here is if, or how, Buruma s and Margalit s (2004) theory of occidentalism aids our understanding of the perspective of those in resistance to the west. From 1815 to 1914 the European ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has always been opposition to the development of the west. Occidentalism creates a dehumanising picture of the west, painted by its enemies. Buruma and Margalit (2004) state, Occidentalism has its origins in the West. Buruma (2004) argues, contemporary Islamic occidentalists are not fully foreign to the West they despise; many Islamic radicals borrow their anti western concepts from Russian and German philosophy. People with little history and even less intellectual capacity would have no idea why the hate and should hate the west, let alone understand the complex, pluralistic nature of western societies and culture. (Buruma and Margalit 2004:48) To argue that the main roots of anti western attitudes lie in the West is to belittle and underestimate the histories, traditions and cultures of non western societies. Anti westernism has been rising over the past two or three decades, it is currently closely associated with Islamic extremism. The Islamic contribution to Occidentalism is a religious vision of purity in which the idolatrous west has to be destroyed (Buruma 2004). Buruma and Margalit (2004) argue there are four hostile aspects of the occidental view of the West: a hatred of the city, rationality or the loss of the soul, an anti bourgeois attitude and anti feminism. Those who dislike the west see it in similar terms as a machine like society without a soul (Buruma and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rob Hall was a thirty five year old guide who had reached Everest s summit four times before leading the expedition that killed him. Rob Hall is the strongest character because he was a both brave and wise, and he always put others first. • 8. Active Learner Upon taken the study skills quiz my first score first was active. I was a reflective learner, which prefer to think about it quietly at first versus being an active learner. I am not an active learner. An active learner tends to retain and understand information best by doing something active with it. If a student was an active learner in my classroom I would use the phrase, Let s try it out, move around, and visually do it to see how it works. Sucker Punch Gameplay Engineer Questions Sucker Punch Gameplay Engineer Questions Question 1 Imagine that you re designing a new attack for an enemy in a melee focused third person action game. Just to choose a random example, let s say it s a Minotaur in a God of War style game. What factors do you consider when designing the attack, and how do you prioritize these factors? Basic factors about the attack: 1. Area: The area in which the attack could potentially fall upon 2. Duration: The duration of the attack 3. Frequency: How often this attack is used 4. Range: The maximum distance the attack can reach 5. Size: The area of effect of the attack 6. Damage: Damage per attack 7. Effects: Extra properties of attack, like poison or slow effect 8. For example, the attack speed will be compared to player s movement speed, and attack area will be compared to the size of the fighting room. Among these factors, the most important one should be Dogdgeability. Like in the famous action game Dark Souls, bosses and enemies attack damage is usually quite high and cause players to die a lot. However, the game still makes players think it is fair, because a lot of attacks are dodgeable by skillful players. If the attack cannot be dodged systematically, we will be limited when adjusting other factors of the attack, because the players will always receive damage from the attack. As a result, the attack cannot be too strong, and the game will be less exciting. On the other hand, if the attack can be dogdged, we can make it as strong as we like and with all kinds of effects. This increases the feeling of achievement when player successfully dodged it. After we design how it could be dodged, we can measure by playtesting how difficult it is to dodge the attack. After that, we can assign the damage inversely proportional to the rate of successful dodge. In summary, we could prioritize the factors by groups as following: (Dodgeability: Area, Duration, Range, Size, Subattack Counts, Preparation, Room Coverage, Smartness, Movement) (Frequency, Damage, Effects, Cooldown, Animation) (Properties, Environment Destruction) We could further prioritize the factors in dodgeability group as follows. • 10. Gender Roles In Disney Movies Disney is known for fairy tale films that are full of lovable characters that children cannot seem to get enough of. The traits of many of the characters are great models for children to watch and learn from. Adults tend to see a bit more than just the good qualities they embody, which leads to the realization that these films are far from perfect. Upon closer inspection, Disney films embrace patriarchal and sexist ideologies when it comes to their characters something that Disney has been nearly successful in eradicating in their most recent films. The Shadow Man, from The Princess and the Frog, is a magically dangerous villain and a practitioner of voodoo. He exerts his magical power to manipulate other people to do what he wishes, and his primary goal consists of becoming ridiculously wealthy. Shan yu, from Mulan, is a criminally dangerous and arrogant villain with a grandiose sense of self who is intent on conquering the whole of China. Hans, from Frozen, is probably a criminally dangerous villain, although he lacks mention in Davis s book. Being the youngest in his family, he feels as though he does not get anything he believes he deserves, so he manipulates Anna to gain access to her kingdom and wealth. • 13. Community Water System The environmental justice hypothesis as stated by Brown, P. is that hazards in the physical and chemical environmental disproportionately affect those individuals and households that also face hazards in their social environment. What Brown is indicating is that environmental justice is mostly seen being acted upon people belonging to the groups of poor, minority and color. The issue of injustice of exposure of arsenic in poor, minority and color groups is a complex one because of the natural occurrence of arsenic in ground water shows no bias in who it affects. It can only be avoided through adequate testing and treatment. The injustice stems from the legal enforcement of new regulation of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SWDA), updated on January 22, 2001, and the differences in detection and treatment as subject to different racial and socioeconomic groups. Regulated communities are asking for flexibility in design of enforcement because it is harder for small public water systems (PWS) to adhere to new regulation. Smaller systems are unable to adhere to new regulation in time because they do not have the finances to update technology and machinery. Since they serve a smaller number of people the cost of updating their facilities is higher per person. Larger systems are able to spread out the cost more efficiently among a larger number of people making it easier for them to comply (Cory, D.C.). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Solar power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple uses. It can be used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power is created by using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the sun s rays to create renewable energy for homes and businesses. Solar power is saved during the daylight so that it can be used during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t, the solar panel can still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a cloudy day, the thicker the clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009). Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used in places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to have solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a good spot for the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there. The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. To begin, we need to understand abortion and how it is received in the United States before we try to understand how the current candidates addressed abortion. Abortion has been a hot button topic in the United States since Roe vs. Wade in 1973 when criminalizing abortion was considered unconstitutional under the Due Process clause of the 14th amendment. This trial created a nationwide debate on not only the legalization of abortion but also the restrictions and regulations. To best understand the topic, it is best we look at both sides of the issue. Pro Life or anti abortion activists often argue that the fetus is a human immediately after fertilization, resulting in murder or killing innocent human beings. Pro Choice or Pro abortion activists often argue that regardless of the status of the fetus, women should have the right to choose what to do with their bodies. According to the National Abortion Federation on prochoice.org, abortion was common and openly used around the time of the creation of the constitution. In the mid 1800 s abortion became illegal state by state, the reasoning behind criminalization varied by state but it was believed there was a fear the population would be primarily children of immigrants rather that Anglo Saxon women if abortion remained legal. Though gangster films have their root in the silent era, the genre became widely popular in the 1930 s Hollywood Studio era, which is characterized by the Hollywood Genre System. Genre films offered economic advantages, including the repeated use of standardized themes, elements, characters and iconography. Additionally, genre films were easily marketable, as audiences knew what to expect from each genre. If a viewer enjoyed one film from a particular genre, they were likely to enjoy any other film falling into that genre. Specific themes and elements can be readily identified in gangster films. • 31. Holden Uses Defense Mechanisms Consequently, Holden uses defense mechanisms, as a means of preventing anxiety that would result from conscious awareness of disturbing impulses, wishes, or ideas arising from the id, (Nevid 471). Nevid explains that according to Freudian theory, defense mechanisms reside in the unconscious part of the human brain because if people were conscious of every single problem, people wouldn t be able to function. Therefore, Holden is subconsciously utilizing defense mechanisms in order to shield himself from confronting his problems. One major defense mechanism present in Holden s behavior is denial. Holden s resides in an ivory tower, reluctant to accept that he s actually hurt. For example, Holden encounters an elevator man named Maurice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although defense mechanisms can help put off a certain problem for some time, relying on defense mechanisms is not always beneficial because it gives people reasons to act irrationally. This clarification of Freud s theory is strongly portrayed in Holden s exaggerated view of reality. His denial triggers delusional fantasies in Holden s mind that he doesn t seem to think deeply about. For example, when one rash thought entered into Holden s mind, he delivers an ultimatum to Sally, saying, ...Tomorrow morning we could drive up to Massachusetts and Vermont...We ll stay in cabin camps until the dough runs out. Then, when the dough runs out, I could get a job somewhere, and we could live somewhere with a brook and all and, later on, we could get married or something, (Salinger 132). At the age of sixteen, as if it s not unrealistic enough, he tries to persuade Sally. When Sally gives him a reality check, he practically rages at her. Holden is so blinded by the fantasy world he created for himself and his defense mechanisms were giving Holden an excuse to acting abnormally. As a result, he blames Sally for the unreasonable idea he proposed, calling her a royal pain in the ass, (133). This irrational behavior of Holden is exactly what Freud is illustrating in his theory of personality that depending on defense mechanisms for relieving stressful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monroe is about 40 miles South of Detroit on Lake Erie. He has two older brothers named Jason and Michael. Alan s parents met when they were in the Navy. His father changed services to the Army and was stationed in Monroe as a recruiter after returning from the Vietnam War. One of his earliest memories is of his mother bundling him up to go outside in the heavy snows of a Michigan winter storm. In 1978, the family moved to Mainz, Germany where he attended the first grade. While stationed there, the family visited many German castles, learned a lot of German history, went on Volksmarches which were noncompetitive walkathons (AVA) and met a lot of interesting people. In 1981, the family moved back to the United States to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. There, Alan attended Logan Heights Elementary School. His house was on a street that had a dead end. Beyond the dead end was literally the desert complete with cactuses, tumbleweeds, horned frogs, and tarantulas. He loved going over the border to Juarez, Mexico with the family and haggling with the merchants for items. Finally, in 1982 the family moved to Ft. Polk, Louisiana for his last move which is where his father retired from the military. In Louisiana, Alan attended Leesville Junior High and High School. He graduated with honors in 1992. He enrolled at Northwestern State University for the fall semester. However, he was working full time, had an hour long commute to classes, and a new girlfriend that would soon be his wife. • 34. The Importance Of Freedom Of Expression In Education The first bell rings. Students walk into class. During class, the teacher asks questions to the students, yet no students raise their hand to answer it. This is like what happens to students when it comes to their freedom of expression. Students, like these in the classroom, are constricted in the way they express themselves. Students are not allowed to have their freedom of expression in schools, but that is not how it should be. Students should be able to express themselves without limits because it is a right in the First Amendment, it brings people together, and it gives students a voice. All students should be granted their freedom of expression for it is a right they are given in the First Amendment. The First Amendment states that all people, including students, have the freedom to speak their opinions and may also take part in the democracy. But, when students have a chance to do so, they are punished for it. In a West Chicago case of a school play being canceled, students dressed in costumes and the supporters stood outside after the morning bell rung. After the protest, the students faced suspension and their graduation at risk (S Ahmed Ullah). This is important because the students of the school had the right to protest in that way because of their freedom of speech granted to them by the First Amendment. But instead of their actions being accepted and the school listening to what they had to say to try and change it, students were instead punished for their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While some walk along the enlightened path of truth, others are blinded by the veil of ignorance, unable to see anything beyond their distorted view of the world. In John Knowles A Separate Peace, two maturing teens named Gene and Finny feel the effects of this inner strife, which shapes their actions and causes the fall, and eventual death, of Finny. Throughout the trial, Finny adamantly denies Gene s involvement, claiming Gene was not even on the tree when he fell. However, the arrival of Leper, a fellow classmate, causes him to doubt himself. Leper is an innocent schoolboy who joins the military but deserts after going insane. He returns to Devon Academy, where he is invited by Brinker to shed light upon the incident, which he does by revealing Gene s involvement in Finny s fall. Finny, unable to handle the truth, emotionally retreats from the room as he shouts You get the rest of the facts Brinker....you collect every f ing fact there is in the world! (Knowles 177). Finny reacts emotionally to the truth because accepting it would mean accepting his closest companion is no longer to be trusted. This is particularly scarring for Finny because after his theory about the war is shattered, he becomes dependent on Gene s loyalty and candor: Christ, I ve got to believe you, at least. I know you better than anybody (Knowles 163).
