Mexico has a poverty rate that s reported to be around 46.2% between 2012 and 2014 translating
into an increase of .07%. During this time, the Mexican Government reported that two million
Mexicans slipped into poverty. The poverty level has risen slightly due to access to education,
health, clean water and income as the basis of the problem.
Statistics show that in Latin America, Mexico is one of the only countries not showing any
decreases in poverty levels. Mexico is struggling with slow economic growth but has large
disparities when it comes to the distribution of wealth. Between 2012 and 2014 the average
income earned by Mexicans also fell. The average household income in Mexico is about 13,000
pesos per month which equals to $800 US as of 2014. The disparity between top 10% of earners is
that they earn 30 times more than lower earners make Mexico.
Mexico s stagnant wages and declining purchasing power also contribute to the reality of poverty
for many Mexican nationals. Recently the Mexican government raised the daily minimum salary
from 73.04 pesos to 80.04 pesos. This increase would equal to about 30 cents in US currency. The

Since my observation took the course of three days I have several findings. So day one s
observation begin with Regina and Gabriella who appear to be accompanying Annabel to what

Research Question
Although a big part of German exports consist of low technology products, almost all research
about factors influencing internationalisation of new ventures, has been done focusing on
companies that operate in the high technology industry. The environment in which these firms
operate is very different from the environment in which low technology firms operate. High
technology firms face high R D costs, short product life cycles and mostly operate in niche markets
(Knight Cavusgill, 2004). These conditions are very different for low tech firms (Evers, 2010).
Here, R D costs and product life cycles play no significant role. Since studies about new venture
internationalisation are so heavily grounded in the high tech sector, little is known about the factors
that affect the internationalisation of firms in the low tech sector. This raises the possibility that
past findings do not generalize equally well to all economic sectors (Zahra George, 2002).
Furthermore, little research has been done about how environmental factors influence new venture
internationalisation, and more research is necessary to find out how these factors influence early
internationalisation (Fernhaber, 2007). Environmental factors are factors that a firm cannot control,
and that are part of the external environment they operate in (Zou and Stan, 1998). These factors

Introduction
The purpose of this lab was to purify a compound of benzoic acid through the process of
recrystallization. This was done in a couple steps, first dissolved the product to be recrystallized in
hot solvent then filtered off impurities, then filtered to isolate the crystals from the recrystallizing
solvent [1]. For this method to work there were many different theories that play a role, one of the
theories is solubility. Solubility is a chemical property that a solute is able to dissolve in a solvent
[2]. This plays a huge role in the experiment as the first step was to dissolve the crude benzoic acid
in water. Solubility was important because if the crude benzoic acid did not dissolve within the

separate from the benzoic acid. Next, the solution was cooled slightly to add decolorizing charcoal
in order to remove the impurities. Then, the solution was heated up again for 20 minutes. Then, the
solution was filtered so the charcoal wouldn t be in the final product. Finally, when filtering with
the Buchner funnel the water was cooled this was used to prevent the benzoic acid from dissolving
in the water and being flushed away with the rest of the water.

experiment is a range from 118В°C 120В°C. The reason for the experiment producing a melting
range compared to a melting point is due to impurities as well for the reason of a lower melting

causes benzoic acid to not have as strong of a bond together in its crystal structure as there are

I was in the Gonzaga Dramatic Association Production of Hairspray this Spring, where I played
IQ, one of the Corny Kids. It was directed by Allan L Etoile, produced by Paul Buckley and
Megan Goldsmith, choreographed by Ellen Abood, and musically directed by Marika Countouris.
Many people called this one of the best shows that the GDA has put on in years, and it was a lot of
fun to be in. There were three main aspects to putting on the show, rehearsing the singing,
rehearsing the dancing, and performing.
When the cast would rehearse the singing for the show, after receiving the music and splitting up
into vocal parts, Marika Countouris would start going through the song in small sections, one
vocal part at a time. After going through the whole song once, we would run through it again,
correct any mistakes, then run in one final time. After that, it was up to the cast to remember
everything that we did and to keep doing it. We later had to go back for a few songs and relearn
them, but if everyone was willing to put in the effort and practice individually, then we wouldn t

Paul Ekman was born in 1934 and at age 14 his mother committed suicide after suffering from
severe bi polar disorder. At that point, he decided he wanted to study facial expressions of
emotion in order to assist other people before such tragic outcomes occurred. By the time he was
15, he had enrolled in University of Chicago and became interested in group therapy. He earned
his Bachelor s degree in 1954 and in 1958 he had earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at
Adelphi University. His Master s thesis was about the study of facial expressions and body
movement. From 1960 to 2004 he worked at the University of California and starting in 1963 he
received continual research grants from the National Institute of Mental Health for 40 years to
study nonverbal behavior.
Paul Ekman was influenced by Charles Darwin s book titled, The Expression of Emotions in Man
and Animals, originally published in 1872. Charles Darwin used photos, drawings and body
postures from animals and humans and compared them with facial expressions and emotions. For
instance, a growling dog has many facial features similar to an angry human. Darwin argued that the

The plot is broken up into three different section and shows the protagonist Anna Marie as three
different ages. This is a simple example of a temporal plot gap. The plot doesn t provide any
information in between the different sections to give any insight on what took place in Anna
Marie s life throughout the years that passed. This is an example where the plot gap doesn t get
a resolution and the event is completely disregarded. The story can only be created in a viewer
has something to base an inference off of in order to fill the plot gap. The exclusion of this

between plot and story involves the use of parallelism. In the second section of the film there is
a scene Anna Marie watches over a cow as it dies. The camera cuts to a close up of the cows eyes
tearing up and then to a close up of Anna Marie s eye tearing up. The similarity of the angle at
which Anna Marie and the cow were filmed signified that there was something important to be
taken away from that scene because it put so much focus on those two subjects. This was not
explicitly presented in the plot, but the use of parallelism to focus the viewers attention to Anna
Marie and the cow in that moment was an indicator that the scene was relevant to the
