The document describes the process of creating a fantasy-themed magazine cover and double page spread. For the cover, photos will be edited into a mushroom background with some models prominently glowing and having black eyes. For the double page, a model is cut out and made transparent over a background, with a reflection added below using the same technique. Text and a redesigned badge will complete the right page. Reflections note techniques like transparency and custom artwork will feature in the final product to add depth and fit the minimalist style.

2. Front Cover Process
• Start by collecting some photos of me
and my friends in different outfits. I will
then find a mushroom fantasy
background that I like and I will start to
edit the photos of us into the photo.
Some will be stood in a straight position
in the background and some will be sat
up front on mushrooms or kneeled
down etc. I will also add a glowing effect
around the back of the models to make
them more prominent. I will also add
other strange features to make my cover
stand out from the rest of the fashion
magazine covers such as black eyes. This
image I have made is not the shape of a
magazine cover but I am just
experimenting with how I can add
shadows and move people behind
objects etc. I also used an abstract
heading for my magazine with a plain
white strip which banners the top of the
cover.

3. Reflection
In my final product I will use the small outer glow as I
think it helps draw a little more attention to the
models. I will also add the black eyes as I think it gives
the magazine more of a spooky and gothic feel whilst
keeping the fantasy vibes. I will also try to use t
surroundings of the photo to my advantage by using
things in the foreground and background to put my
models in front of or behind. I will also use this as an
opportunity to put shadows onto them to make them
look more realistic. I will also use the abstract title and
strip but I'm not sure if she will use that exact font or
change it to a more simple one.

4. Double Page Process
To create this I started by making an A3 page
and rotating it 90 degrees. I then got an image
and made it the size of an A4 page and put it on
the left of the screen. I got a photo of a model
offline and then cut him out and placed him on
the page. I selected the outline of the model
and then changed to the background layer and
copied the selected section. I then changed its
transparency to 15% and I placed it over the
model to act as a kind of filter to make him look
more similar to the color of the background. I
used the lasso tool to cut a chunk of his body off
at the bottom. I then made this 25%
transparent. I copied the model and made it
10% transparent and flipped and squashed the
image to give him a reflection. I then made a
light pink color with the brush and just drew
strokes down over the model to act as rain. For
the second page I got a photo of a stone island
badge and used shapes and also the warp tool
to create the badge from scratch in Photoshop. I
then placed it in the top center of the screen
and added text underneath. I would prefer if the
text was in a perfect square and didn’t indent
but on Photoshop I couldn’t get this to work.

5. Reflection
In my final product I will definitely try to use the cut
and transparent technique that I used in this practice
image as I think it adds a lot more depth and dimension
to the image. I also think that I will create my own art
for the right page like I did in this one. I will try to
create 2 or 4 and put them in a row or square as the
text and images in this magazine all have a clean look
and crisp feel. It also has to be quite minimalist to fit
the style so it will look better if I use block colours and
create my own logos.
