Introduction
• 3D printing process builds a 3-dimensional
object.
• Object is made by using successive
adding the material layer by layer.
• This is also known as “Additive
Manufacturing.”
Modeling Printing Finishing
Types of 3D printing technology
• Stereo lithography (SLA)
• Fused deposition modeling (FDM)
• Electron beam melting (EBM)
• Selective laser melting (SLM)
• Selective laser sintering (SLS)
Working Principle
• For the printing, the object is created by
Computer Aided Design (CAD) or scanned the
actual object.
• After that it is converted in the form of (SLF)
Stereolithoghaphy File.
• Then this SLF file need to be processed by
“Slicer” which convert the material into a series
of layers.
• Printer resolution describe layer thickness in Dot
per inch (DPI) or µm.
Future scope
• The future of 3D printing is bright and became
an important pillar in various manufacturing
industries.
• e.g. (Medical, Aerospace, Automotive, Defense
Architecture etc.)
• 3D printing innovators are even exploring How
to make the process itself more sustainable.
• Researchers are focusing on how to print of
different material integration.
Pros and Cons
Pros :-
• Very complex shape can be produced.
• Less manufacturing time
• Flexibility & risk reduction
Cons :-
• Harmful emission
• Expensive & limited types of material can be
used.
• High energy consumption.
Conclusion
• 3D printing technology could revolutionize and
reshape the world.
• Advancement in this technology can significantly
change and improve the way of manufacturing
process.
• 3D printed product are of superior capabilities,
marketed quicker, design oriented

  • 3. Introduction • 3D printing process builds a 3-dimensional object. • Object is made by using successive adding the material layer by layer. • This is also known as “Additive Manufacturing.” Modeling Printing Finishing
  • 4. Types of 3D printing technology • Stereo lithography (SLA) • Fused deposition modeling (FDM) • Electron beam melting (EBM) • Selective laser melting (SLM) • Selective laser sintering (SLS)
  • 5. Working Principle • For the printing, the object is created by Computer Aided Design (CAD) or scanned the actual object. • After that it is converted in the form of (SLF) Stereolithoghaphy File. • Then this SLF file need to be processed by “Slicer” which convert the material into a series of layers. • Printer resolution describe layer thickness in Dot per inch (DPI) or µm.

Future scope • The future of 3D printing is bright and became an important pillar in various manufacturing industries. • e.g. (Medical, Aerospace, Automotive, Defense Architecture etc.) • 3D printing innovators are even exploring How to make the process itself more sustainable. • Researchers are focusing on how to print of different material integration.
