- 1. FONT, MASTHEAD AND COLOUR IDEAS
- 2. I feel like this font would be good for the initial magazine masthead and important sub headings as it is bold and quite quirky which would attract my readers to pick up the magazine. This font if also quite bold and in your face which would be good to use for sub-headings if I decided to swap between this font and hard sports. I could also use this if I wanted to add some emphasis to certain sections to draw my readers in. This font would be ideal for writing scores and league tables if I choose to incorporate these things into my main magazine as
- 3. BATTING OUT! - I could use this masthead if I decide my article will be aimed at independent cricket mad fans rather than an audience that wont know all of the language based solely on cricket. Also it would only be able to target one audience which might not be the best as it should have a wider audience to be able to sell more copies. SPORTS MAD! – I feel this would be a good masthead as it targets a wider audience than my first idea as it doesn’t focus solely on one sport so it would reach more people and it is quite informal and friendly which I feel my audience might appreciate more. SPORTING LIFE! – like my second idea I feel this has a friendlier approach and also targets a wider audience as again it doesn’t revolve around one particular sport and with using ‘Hard Sports’ it makes the font stand out more and will attract readers and draw them in whilst in the supermarket for instance.

With it being a regional magazine the main colours for the North East are particularly red, white and black so I would prefer to stick to that tone so that my readers would realise it was solely a regional magazine and may tempt them to buy it. Also they are quite bright colours so they could attract my readers that way. My second idea was because the majority of the sports in the North East are played in the summer, bright, warm colours may fit quite well as it would show that summery vibe quite well.
