I did a survey using surveymonkey to ask my audience which
magazine name was their favourite. I decided to name my
magazine ‘Listen’ because it was the most popular choice.

I chose to use this image of Dalya
on my front cover because she fits the
image of a pop artist and she looks
around the same age as my target
audience so they can relate to her.
The main image sets the tone for the whole magazine
and she looks happy in this picture which sets a fun
yet sophisticated tone. She is making direct eye
contact with the audience which will attract them to the
magazine because it gives a feel that she is inviting
them to read it.

5. Cover Lines
The choice of words such as ‘Win Big’ and ‘Exclusive’
make someone want to buy the magazine and read
on. They want to know what they could win or to buy
the magazine for the exclusive story.
‘Exclusive’ and ‘Never before seen’ make the reader
feel as if they are getting information that nobody else
knows and therefore makes them want to read the
magazine to get this information.
I used my cover lines to show the reader what else will
be in the magazine alongside the main feature and
encourage them to read the magazine; even if they
aren’t interested in the featured artist they may buy the
magazine for one of the other stories inside.

I chose to write an interview for my
double page spread because my
audience feedback suggested that that
was the kind of article they wanted to
read. When reading a magazine, the
reader likes to feel a personal
connection to the person they are
reading about and an interview is the
kind of article that has the perfect
balance between personal and
professional. The reader will feel like
they are getting to know the artist
personally while they are still talking
about their career in the music
industry.
