41+ 55.17%
The majority of people who took my survey were 41+ with the second largest group being 32-26. This not only
confirms that my target audience will be a wider age range but it confirms that there opinions will be valid for the
production of my magazine. As the majority of these are adults I will aim to focus on the main sports topics and
not too much on modern topics that aren’t really relevant. I will also be able to use humour and slight puns for
the mature age ranges but not too much as I still want to appeal to the younger audiences too. As for my
secondary audience, I will be going off my next two highest values collected by my survey. This consists of 21-25
year olds and 26-31 year olds as the percentage was the same for both age groups with 6.90%. These may be
interested more in the images I will include in my magazine rather than the actual articles itself.
3. How often do you buy magazines?
weekly fortnightly monthly yearly never other

Fortnightly 0.00%
Monthly 3.45%
Yearly 0.00%
Never 79.31%

I decided to ask this question because I wanted to know how often my magazine should be issued. This is an
important factor as a regional magazine needs returning customers in order to be successful. If issues are released too
frequently, the content could become short and repetitive which would uninterested my audience. If issues are
released not often enough my audience could forget about the brand and consider it lazy. As you can see from my
results majority of my audience buy their magazines never which could be because they don’t have any that interest
them. My second highest percentage was other so some of my audience would probably just prefer to buy my
magazines when they see them in the shops than rush out every month specially to buy my magazine. Considering
79.31% of my audience never buy magazines I will need to consider this and make sure to create a magazine that
reflects their interests and appeals to them. This will then hopefully encourage then to want to start purchasing my
magazine as it is centralized around their ideas.
4. How much would you expect to pay for a regional magazine?

2.00 31.03%
3.00 10.34%
4.00 0.00%
5.00 6.90%
Other 17.24%
I asked this question as I need to know how much my audience would be willing to pay. This will therefore help me to
decide how much I should sell my magazine for. The results show that the lower prices are a lot more popular for a
regional magazine as shown by my potential audience. 31.03% of people want my magazine to be 2.00 as I expected
this as most magazine companies charge around 3.00/4.00 these days for their magazines.
The content and quality of my magazine would not suffer at a a lower price because I will gain money from my
advertising and sponsoring instead.
5. What features do you prefer to see in regional magazines?
images articles Q and As audience notes adverts other
Images 17.24%
Articles 37.93%
Adverts 24.14%
Q and As 10.34%
Audience notes 0.00%
Others 10.34%
I asked this question because I wanted to know what features I should focus on the most when constructing my
magazine. The results show that 37.93% of my audience would be most likely to focus on the quality of the articles
in my magazine. This suggests I need to make sure the language and register fits my articles and audience perfectly.
Only 17.24% of my audience are interested in seeing images throughout my magazine so I will still need to focus on
using the appropriate images at the right time but I wont spend as much time on this as I will on the initial content
of my magazine.
