John Doe Movie 7
We live in a world that is full of horrible things; however, some are inexcusably unspeakable.
These horrendous unforgivable deeds are called sins. Sins are actions that go against God s
will. Many deeds or actions can be perceived as sins, but there are seven that are exceptionally
imperative. We chose the sinister thriller Seven for our movie analysis project. This movie was
released in 1995, starring Brad Pitt (Detective Mills), Morgan Freeman (Detective Somerset),
Gwyneth Paltrow (Tracy Mills), and Kevin Spacey as the infamous John Doe. Seven was written
by Andrew K. Walker and directed by David Fincher (A E Television Network). Taking place in a
rainy crime stricken city, Seven is about two homicide detectives; Detective Somerset... Show more

Antisocial personality disorder is the most difficult to treat. Psychotherapy is sometimes used
but not always efficient. Psychiatric medication may also be prescribed to help with certain
symptoms but it does not treat the disorder as a whole (Mayo Clinic Staff). The most effective
way to treat this disorder is with inpatient residential care, followed by close long term after
/outpatient care (Nevid, Rathus and Greene). Narcissistic personality disorder is much easier to
treat with a better prognosis. Psychotherapy or talk therapy is the key because it teaches the
patient ways to control their emotion and rectifies self absorbed behaviors. The sufferer also
learns acceptable ways of mingling with others and society (Dryden Edwards). Prognosis for
narcissistic personality disorder is dependent upon the severity and other disorders that they may
have, as well as how long it takes for them to realize their problems are a direct result of their self
tendencies

Case Study Bea Rosen
1. There are a few boundary issues that need to be addressed. The social worker developed a
personal relationship with Bea. Bea was in need of additional income, she wanted to find a
female to rent her spare room to. The social worker had a friend, a woman who might be
interested renting the room (Hoffman, St. Clair, 2003, p. 46). She asked for permission to let her
friend know of the room, asking to releasing Bea s information was appropriate. The boundary
issue is that the social worker should have not even offered her friend as an option to rent the
room. This situation becomes a conflict of interest and cross the boundaries of social worker and
client (NASW, 2008, p. 7). In addition to this situation the social worker admitted to having... Show

The social worker needs to study more on what it means to be Jewish in America to increase her
knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of the cultural impact it has on Bea s current
bereavement and social support systems. There is race, culture, and religion that is included with
understanding what it means to be Jewish in America. Bea was not a practicing Jew and the social
worker needs to gain additional understanding on how that impacts Bea and how it affects her
interaction within the Jewish community, this supports the understanding of the empowerment and
advocacy for Bea. The social worker will also gain additional knowledge on the limitations of the
current cultural systems in place to develop additional support plans to provide the support to Bea
that her current cultural system is unable to provide, this includes the financial support that Bea
will be needing to meet her living

Personal Statement For Social Work
Personal Statement
The pursuit of a doctoral degree is both exciting and humbling for me. It is exciting that I have a
clear vision of the career I want to pursue as an academic, and humbling to think of the great
opportunity I could have to teach future social workers. Early motivation to enter the field of social
work was in response to adverse childhood experiences with domestic violence, parental substance
abuse, poverty, and homelessness further complicated by foster care intervention. My foster care
experience included five foster placements, enrollment in countless schools, countless lost
relationships, and a failed adoption. Though these experiences created much hardship, they have
certainly promoted resilience and helped lead me to my current ambition of seeking a Ph.D. As a
recipient of foster care intervention, I exited state custody through legal permanence. Through
education, advocacy, and direct social work practice with youth in residential treatment, I acquired
new skills and insight to addressing social and child welfare problems. I am excited for the
opportunity to promote the field of social work in the classroom and improve the lives of youth in
the foster care system through my research.
Personal Goals
In applying to Arizona State University s School of Social Work (ASU SSW) Ph.D. program, I
aspire to peruse a career as a social work educator. I plan to use this platform and newly acquired
skills developed with the university, to advance the field

I was completely responsible for my decisions (Gouttefarde, 1996, p. 60). The manager also
stated, each person has a defined responsibility , once you have completed your role you no
longer have a say in what happens to the project at the next level, thus no one is individually
responsible . Bad choices are made because of the blind following of power . Managers from the
United States may have the exact job in France however they have fewer tasks because of the
hierarchical structure. For that reason, managers have no authority to affect the final outcome of
a project. The lack of autonomy creates a lack of achievement and satisfaction which Americans
value. From a business standpoint, if a country such as France, scores high in power distance,
there is a tendency to have more male controlled traditions. As a result, managerial positions are
typically held by men, and the women who do hold leadership positions experience negativity.
Considering the United States scored a 40 in power distance indicates they are less accepting of
unequal distribution and inequality. As an American manager, working abroad in France I will
face many challenges coming from a society that is lower in power distance. In the United States I
am accustom to briefing my subordinates about task in great detail. I am also prepared for my
authority to be challenged and to answer questions pertaining to any information that was briefed.

Ockham s Razor
There are different ways we come to know the stuff in this world. We generally prefer theories that
are simple. The simpler the theory, the less entities involved; therefore, the fewer assumptions we
have to make. Quine supports the principle Ockham s Razor in acceptance of an ontology.
Ockham s Razor is a principle that is preferred when trying to determine our ontological beliefs.
The first step of Quine s method suggests that we use simple theories. As a naturalist, Quine also
only takes what scientific theories give him. This is slightly problematic because that means only
sciencecan determine what exists and seems to deny common sense.
Ontology is the study of what there is and is a theory about the types of entities there are ... Show

That is, he allows for science to be the determiner of what exists and what does not and so only
material stuff exists for him, as that is what science determines to be real. In other words, Quine
makes the goal of ontology, ultimately, taking the best and the simplest science theories and putting
them to use within his method . His method can be criticized because Quine, being a naturalist,
denies a priori knowledge by definition and therefore, rejecting anything abstract such as
mathematics. However, we do take that mathematics and other abstract theories to

Kitty Kallen s Argument Essay
Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path is a Swedish proverb.
This proverb means that one should make an effort to check up on their friends and always try.
All people know they must talk to their friends to keep them. Or, try and help out to keep
something working. Not much is known about the origin of this proverb even though it is
popular. It is important to live by go often to the house of a friend; for weeds soon choke up the
unused path which can be shown through Kitty Kallen, Beryl Grey, 11 Birthdays, and the United
Way drive. Kitty Kallen shows this proverb because of her view on life, her determination to
succeed, and her gratefulness of other people. People should check in on friends once in awhile.
This proverb is accurately portrayed by a lyric that Kallen sang, Little things mean a lot, Kitty

Paul Laurence Dunbar Sympathy Summary
All beings require a degree of freedom to truly live, as such, caged animals are often subjected to a
life subpar to truly living. Consequently, this rule applies to humans as well, and unfortunately
enough, most humans in our era fail to live. In the poem Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar,
Dunbar seeks to explore this sullen connection with the speaker and a caged animal feels by
utilizing repetition and metaphor.
The first stanza begins with the primary metaphor of the caged bird. In this line, the speaker states
that he knows what the caged bird feels (line 1). Under the assumption that the speaker, like most
people, cannot speak to animals, his understanding of the bird s feelings must come from inference
from observation. Dunbar goes onto depict a beautiful landscape of the birds natural habitat.
However, the feelings of the depiction are clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bird s mania manifests in vain attempts on breaking the bars of his cage with his body.
Beating its body against the bars until he bleeds red, (line 9) the bird would almost prefer death
to this life if it were not for the vague prospect of release. Towards the end of the stanza, the tale
of the caged bird thickens as his old scars... pulse... with a keener sting (line 12 13). This line
shows that the bird is not simply trying to fly away without understanding the limits of the change,
the bird seems to represent the spirit of a stallion rejecting the enforced domestication of its captors.
The last stanza summarizes the predicament of the cage bird, and the odd act which the caged
bird commits, the caged bird sings (line 15). However, singing often represents joy Dunbar
clarifies that this singing is in prayer. After beating himself against the bars he resigns his broken
body to sing and pray for success, reaching to a higher power for

9 October 2014 The history of Morocco relevant to European colonialism begins with the Arab
conquest of North Africa in the late seventh century. When the Arabs arrived, they brought with
them the religion of Islam and converted the people they found there. Those people were the
Berbers, who are indigenous to the region. Like the Europeans to come later, the Arabs imposed
taxes on the Berbers, however the Arabs allowed the Berbers to keep the laws and customs they
already had. Later, less than a century after this conquest, the Berbers revolted and regrouped into
smaller, self governed states. Islam in Morocco took different forms after that, with each state
bending it to its own needs. After a period of chaos ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the explicit goal of Lyautey and his associates was to improve the quality of
indigenous public service so that eventually it would function with only minimal French
intervention (Gershovich). France contributed a lot to Morocco during its time as a colonial
influence. It built 26,660 miles of roadways. It also helped to improve other infrastructure as
well as modernize agricultural systems. France gifted to Morocco, with their own goals in mind,
the starting blocks of a prosperous, efficient economy. That being said, Lyautey worked hard to
not allow colons to enter Morocco, but the French leaders that came after him did not feel the
same way. Colons did end up in the region, and Lyautey tried hard to prove that, he was not in a
conquered country and to maintain the fiction that the French had been invited there to help
(Bidwell). Regardless, racism proliferated and the indigenous population was subjugated. After
Lyautey, Morocco began to resemble a different colonized state one under harsh foreign rule.
They kept the façade of the sultan, and built schools and hospitals, but without involving the
Moroccans in the process. Eventually, French rule over Morocco became so harsh compared to
how it was under Lyautey that in 1953, Moroccans were, being imprisoned for waving their
national banner (Bidwell). Another concept the French subscribed to, as well as other colonizers,
was separating ethnic tribes or groups and putting them against each other in order to keep control
over the region. For example, the, Berber Dahir legislation of 1930 that had established different
legal systems for the two Moroccan ethnic groups, Imazighen (Berbers) and Arabs a policy resented
by both groups

Oprah Winfrey Golden Media Rhetorical Analysis
Should celebrities use their spotlights to speak their minds about politics and current world
issues? Some argue that celebrities are only here to entertain and should not ruin that by voicing
their political opinions. Mark Wahlberg for example, stated in an interview with Task and
Purpose that celebrities should stay out of politics as they are in their own little bubble and have
no way of truly understanding the struggles of average people. On the other hand, some celebrities
have the exact opposite opinion. In her Golden Globes acceptance speech, Oprah Winfrey
denounces silence and encourages everyone to stand up for what is right no matter what their
social standing is. To explore this idea, we will use the rhetorical analysis theory... Show more

And I m especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and
empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories. In this speech, the #MeToo

the website for this movement, it is told that this movement was founded in 2006 by Tarana

women to use #MeToo if they have experienced either in their lives. Also referenced was the
Time s Up movement, a similar movement that was specifically made for women in the
entertainment industry who have been taken advantage of by men who are above them in the

Compare and Contrast the Rise and Fall of Mesopotamia and...
In this project I plan on exploring the contrasts and comparisons between the rise of
Mesopotamia and Egypt. I chose this particular question because during my junior year I took
and AP World History class in which we of course studied the worlds history. One on my favorite
things that we studied in that class was ancient Empires. Mr. Herman, my AP teacher during that
time, went through the Mesopotamian and Egyptian Empires rather too quickly for my tastes. I
felt as though there were a lot of things that I missed and would have loved to study. So during
my preparations for the AP exams I wrote a brief essay on comparing and contrasting the rise
and fall of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian Empire. I enjoyed writing this essay and was quite
interested in the topic. Despite the fact this didn t make up much of the exam I later decided
that this would be my capstone topic backup in case I don t like the one I came up with in the
future. And like I predicted I did not like my previous topic and chose to continue this. The
reason I thought to do this for my capstone after my other idea failed was because I found that
people would get a lot more out of this. We go to an arts school and frankly unless something has
to do with the history of our art forms people don t really pay that much attention to history, unless
they plan to become an anthropologist. I found that with this I can educate my classmates on the
history of those who came before us and then apply it to current day

The Biblical Mandate For Music
Premise 1. Music performs an important and independent role within the Biblical narrative.
From beginning to end the Bible is full of music and song. The first musician, Jubal, makes his
appearance as early as Genesis 4... As we turn the pages, we find many who follow in Jubel s
musical footsteps (Roberts, 2002:84)
This premise is predicated on the hypothesis that music plays an independent and important role
within scripture itself; that is to be an elevated carrier for liturgy and prayer, the use of which is
mandated by God for corporate worship. Both corporate worship and individual faith would suffer
if music were removed. As an act of worshipping obedience, and a way of more readily
understanding and relating to God, we will examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
15:16 22) (Miller, 1993:78 81).
The instruction to make music in worship moves beyond the Levites alone (Foley, 1992) and
stretches into the whole body of Israel. Frame (1996:111) says Scripture plainly teaches that God
s people are not only to speak, but also to sing, the truth of God (eg. 1 Chron. 16:9; Ps. 33:2 3;
Col. 3:16). This last verse demonstrates how the mandate for music has carried on through to the
New Covenant people of God.
Synagogue worship heavily influenced emerging Christian music (Foley, 1992:35, 50) as seen
throughout the New Testament (Martin, 1967:17). We could add Eph. 15:9 (White, 1993, 1996),
and Heb. 2:12 where Jesus quotes Ps. 22:22, applying it to the early church.
This also challenges the presupposition behind the question, that music was not historically seen as
essential. In the New Testament era of Church history, the Levitical Jewish traditions of music and
hymn singing in corporate worship continued and relied heavily on this Old Testamentbasis
(Guiver, 2009:14). You can identify potential candidates for hymns in Phil. 2:6 11 ; Col. 1:15 20;
Eph. 5:14, and possibly 1 Cor. 13 (White, 1993:37), and find designated hymns in Luke s gospel (of
Elizabeth, 1:42 45; Mary, 1:46 55; Zechariah, 1:68 79; and Simeon, 2:29 32). All of these combine
the language of Jewish history and personal experience of the singer (White, 1993:37).
Jesus also engages with corporate singing with His

With the age group consisting of anyone over 21, gambling is a main attraction when visiting a
place like Las Vegas. People tend to spend their money mostly on the slot machines and multiple

workers of the Casinos and state taxes which benefits the other attractions surrounding the casino.
The gambling industry has grown massively in little time, it has grown to make around 40
billion dollars a year. Generating this money contributes largely to make a better city or state for
visitors or residents to enjoy. These casinos are usually looked down upon but they offer new

Essay about Rhetoric vs. Truth
The relationship between rhetoric and truth is a highly conflicted topic. Two philosophers that
discuss this topic are Plato and Nietzsche. Plato argues that rhetoric is merely a useful craft that
deals only in the subjective and material world rather than in the pursuit of true knowledge.
Nietzsche, on the other hand, argues that absolute truths are unobtainable since individuals are
incapable of being completely objective, thereby rendering the debate between rhetoricand truth
meaningless. Although both are valid points of view, Nietzsche s argument appears to hold more
weight insofar as it seems to solve the debate between rhetoric and truth by eliminating absolute
truth altogether. To begin, Platos view of rhetoric stems from... Show more content on

This is one of the reasons why he believes that rhetoric is not synonymous with truth. Plato
argues against rhetoric because it deals in the material world, which is not the place where ideas
exist, nor does it attempt to attain truth. Rhetoric is more or less, the flawed knowledge of the
world being manipulated by language for everyday matters, such as politics and law, rather than
being used in the pursuit of absolute truths. Rhetoric is therefore useless. He furthers his
argument against rhetoric in his dialogue Gorgias. In Plato s Gorgias, he argues that rhetoric is
untruthful by being based on belief, as well as having the potential for manipulation and
deception. In the dialogue, Plato has Socrates distinguish between true knowledge and belief.
He argues that there can be false as well as true beliefs, however, there is only true knowledge
one is concrete while the other is changeable and unpredictable. Hence, it follows that knowledge
and belief are associated and utilized in different professions and subject areas. So, Socrates has
Gorgias admit that rhetoric is limited to the fields of politics and law, which he argues deal in
persuasion that is based on belief as oppose to instructing about a true knowledge of right and
wrong. For example, an orator or lawyer may induce a belief about justice, but cannot actually

Intrusions Leading to Decays
Often, if what we are accustomed to is disturbed, we tend to develop a defence mechanism that
leads to either the destruction of our surroundings or new concepts in ways to make the situation
better. In Michael Moss s The Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food, he reports on the
growing obesity epidemic in the United States as a result of food manufacturers conscious effort...
to get people hooked on foods that are convenient and inexpensive (Moss 262). Whereas, in An
Elephant Crackup?, by Charles Siebert, we assimilate the fact that elephant behavior is entirely
congruent with what we know about humans and other mammals (Siebert 357). The dynamics of a
precipitous collapse of elephant culture or crackup described by Charles Siebert, in An Elephant
Crackup?, can be used to analyze and understand America s relationship with processed food
because elephants are observed through an anthropomorphized lens. It can be acknowledged that
the encroachment, exploitation, and the economical and political instabilities that affect the
elephants, serve as an interrelationship with what keeps consumers under the firm hold of major
food industries.
The use of technology and scientific research has opened up a gateway in understanding elephants
destructive behavior and the role that processed foods play in the growing obesity epidemic.

We have created selected base. As next procedure, campaign manager will like to send out a
communication to this segment. For this we have to attach a CELL node.
Cell node combines the data items from the preceding nodes and displays the number of unique
subjects.
Right click on the cell node to bring up properties menu and make relevant change. It is possible to
use LINK functionality. All cells are uniquely numbered and can be used in future campaigns. This
allows user to apply segment definitions time and again without the need to create every time.

How Did The Ionic Order Influence Greek Architecture
Let s delve back into the past and see the magnificent architecture that screamed power from every
curve.... ever pillar. Greek architecture used 3 main styles that were incorporated all over Greece
and is still practiced this day and age.
The first style is the Doric Order which emerged around the late seventh century and was
predominant in Greek temple constructions and major building; the most notable being the
Parthenon in Athens. The Doric order is characterized by a plain column that rests on a stylobate
that did not have a base. The columns are fluted and the square spaces in the vertical plaques and
metopes are either painted or sculpted to provide decoration to the plain columns.
The next style is the Ionic order. The Ionic order was developed during the mid sixth century and
the columns on Naxos. The Ionic order is known mainly from the graceful proportions where it is
more of a slender and elegant style compared to the Doric order who is stockier and supportive.
Ionic order uses base supports at the bottom of the columns and volutes (scroll like ornaments).
The final order is the Corinthian Order; the last classical order of Greek architecture. This order
uses more vegetal elements in its structures more so than the Ionic order. It used leaves ... Show

Roman empire from customs to architecture. But not only that, even today we hold Greece culture

Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (SWB)
Research Design:
The survey objective is set to measure the customer s interest of a new service known as
BELLBOY. SWB would like to acquire both existing (customers who have the intention to buy) and
potential (customers who have interest but are still reluctant to purchase) demand. SWB believes
that existing and potential demands constitute unmet demand.
SWB went with the telephone survey, which is a descriptive research method, to gauge the interest
of the BELLBOY service. This method was used due since all businesses in the Dallas/Fort Worth
area had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With these generally specific questions, many participants could underestimate the broad scope of
what SWB is trying to gauge, and could thus opt out of the survey before fully understanding the
product and thus decreasing demand.
Various choices of words employed in the survey posses some ambiguity, and that may cause
respondents to not understand the question and not seem interested. For example, the word familiar
in question 2 and reasonable monthly rate in question 3 don t mean the same thing amongst
respondents. For question 2, interval scale could ve been utilized to gauge level of familiarity, and
for question 3, price factors may steer customers away from being interested.
Analysis and Conclusion
The survey administered by Peters Marketing Research for the purpose of measuring customers
interest in BELLBOY would tend to understate the true unmet demand for the service due to the
sample and questionnaire design. This will be discussed in details as follows.
The sampling frame includes only businesses that already have a telephone number with the
Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (SWB). It excludes businesses that currently use other
companies services or no services at all. The omission of these organizations would tend to
understate true demand as they may be interested in using the BELLBOY service as well.

Imagine living in a city where hundreds of people go missing in just 6 months. Then, we find out

Burnham represents good. However, they do have two things in common, their negative perspective
about women and their want for riches.
Both Holmes and Burnham exhibit a great determination to become rich. If Burnham could obtain

Any Addiction Recovery
The human body, when in prime health, is like a well oiled machine. Signals from the brain
successfully transmit to the body, the heart pumps out blood correctly, hormones are even and
consistent. Everything works the way it is supposed to. Now introduce an addiction to this
equation. Not just a drug or alcohol addictioneither ANY addiction is going to impact your ability
to function. An addiction creeps into the brain, and things go haywire. Nutrition and sleep are
disrupted because they are no longer important. Family and friends are neglected. Responsibilities
fall to the wayside. No matter what you are addicted to, it will impact every single aspect of your

Some call this rock bottom . The problem many addicts face when attempting to recover is that
they only try to treat their addiction. They view their addiction as a singular issue, with a
mindset that if only the addiction disappeared, life would fall back into place. This fails. The
only sustainable way to recover from an addiction is to treat it with a holistic approach. This
means that you treat every single different aspect of your body and mind. Addiction recovery is
not only abstaining from your addiction it is rebuilding your life. A holistic approach will treat
the body and mind, as well as outside relationships and situations. You need to eat healthy. You
need to get plenty of sleep. You need to clean your house. You need to talk to your friends again.
If you hold religious beliefs, you need to reconnect to your spiritual community. You need to
exercise, and exercise regularly. You need to challenge your mind. Doing puzzles, playing games,
learning a new skill, reading a book. You need to start taking care of your personal hygiene. Take

Iconic Male Dominated American Culture
Long before the development of iconic male dominated American culture, the ideals of a patriarchal
society have been implemented within the foundations of multiple civilizations, serving to dictate
the actions of its individuals under the black and white confines of social constructions like gender
roles, gender binary, sex roles, and many other aspects of everyday life that are still present at this
very moment. One of the most crucial elements of contemporary American society that these
limiting patriarchal values have latched onto is the comprehensive sexual education of it s youth.
Undoubtedly, those who need it most are almost always doomed to receive the short end of the
stick with the introduction of Abstinence Only education a method that has been consistently
proven to embed misogynistic and gender discriminatory ideals within its shame based and fear
centered curriculum, in addition to being profoundly ineffective in preventing the negative aspects
that go along with unsafe sexual activity; much less effective than it s counterpart, Comprehensive
Sexual Education. This unbiased, fact based, and health focused method of sex ed serves to inform
students about a number of topics in an age appropriate context, allowing them to make choices

Misconceptions About Wolves
Many have heard of the famous fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood, in which wolves are portrayed
as evil beings, that have no intention of affection for humans but instead, the instant thought of
hunger, of devouring the individual whole. This story makes one wonder whether wolves are
lovely or evil creatures. In Idaho, West America, a lengthy debate is currently being battled out
about the gray wolves which now remain in small numbers, reported as 1600. These wolves
according to some groups need to be secured, with other opinions that suggest otherwise. Some
stakeholders who are situated in the same location and are in favour of the wolves, include the Nez

The Autobiography of Malcom X by Alex Haley
The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told by Alex Haley is about a man who forever changed
America. Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little and also known as El Hajj Malik El Shabazz spoke out
against the effects of discrimination, racism and segregation. He went through many different
stages in his life as he fought for equal treatment of colored individuals. The three stages that really
changed the way Malcolm Xthought were his experiences while incarcerated, his entering into
the religion of Islam by following Elijah Muhammad, and the biggest turning point in his life, his
first and last pilgrimage to the holy Islamic city of Mecca. In all of Malcolm teachings, in his
transformations and actions we can derive different viewpoints. While Malcolm X was
incarcerated he had completed his first transformation in life. Like many past greats, they all
suffered a low point in their lives. Malcolm X s low point was when he was into the usage of
drugs, hustling, and money. He became so focused on making a lot of money, so much so that he
and some of his friends decided to rob a house of an elderly white man. Malcolm and his friends
were immediately caught for the crime and not only were they charged but were also charged with
having sexual intercourse with white women. A white woman having any sort of sexual relation
with a colored individual was extremely frowned upon. Malcolm and his friend, who went by the

life. However, street performers are often restricted to limited areas in order to oblige the
regulations set out by the council.

The book will demonstrate the intention of creating the music hall through its position first and

Eco tourism
One aspect of tourism which has greatly been considered is eco tourism. As climate change guilt
among tourists grows, many tourist attractions are touting their environmental credentials in an
effort to cash in on the eco tag. We define nature based tourism as the segment of the tourism
market in which people travel with the primary purpose of visiting a natural destination. If we were
to draw an imaginary line through the tourism industry, with one side (the smaller side)
representing sustainable tourism and the other side representing non sustainable tourism, then
nature based tourism and cultural tourism, etc. would span the divide. We equate ecotourism with
nature based tourism that falls on the sustainable side of the line, where impact on the local
environment and human communities is low, direct financial benefits accrue to conservation
efforts and the local communities, there is respect for local cultures and needs, and the experience
builds environmental awareness.
As the demand for tourism grows, the notions for eco tourism sometimes drift away from its
original goals. Studies have been conducted on eco tourism which aims to standardize its goals
purposes. For instance, a study has

Kate Chopin Analytical Essay
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin is a short yet complex story, describing Mrs Mallard s
feelings. It focuses on the unfolding emotional state of Mrs Mallard after the news of her husbands
death, and has overflowing symbolism and imagery. It is an impressive literary piece that touches
the readers feelings and mind and allows the readerto have a connection to Mrs Mallards emotional
process. Although the story is short, it is complete with each word carrying deep sense and

In paragraph eight, Chopin begins to use personification as well as imagery. Mrs Mallard young,
with a fair, calm face (158) is sitting in the armchair with a dull stare in her eyes (158) which

Mallard looks like, and we understand that there s something going on in Mrs Mallards head,
something changing everything in her mind. Mrs Mallard is still struggling to figure it out but she
felt it, creeping out of the sky, reaching towards her through the sounds, the scents, the color that
filled the air . From this we understand that she is beginning to realise it, and her soul is beginning
to fill with happiness of freedom, which is in all the sounds, smells and things she sees. For one
moment, however, she is somewhat afraid of feeling happy about her freedom and she was striving
to beat it back with her will (159). This shows that Mrs Mallard is a product of her time, and is
striving to feel what is socially accepted. She realizes that society would determine her thoughts of
freedom inappropriate, but she can t stop herself from feeling that way.
However, she knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in death
(159), but it s just a reaction, one that society expects her to have, and one that many have when
dealing with the death of someone they know. Chopin

Jewish Identity In Ancient World Summary
On March 7, Dr. Lawrence Wills presented a lecture entitled The Origin of the Jewish Identity in
Ancient World . The purpose of this lecture was to identify where the terms Jew and Judaism
came from. In his lecture, Dr. Wills also spoke on how the same term could be used as an insult
or as appreciation. However, in order to understand Dr. Lawrence Wills lecture, one must look at
the historical aspect of it first, especially if they are not familiar with the history. In order to
understand the origin of the Jewish Identity, it is important to look at the history behind the term.
In the fourth century BCE, Alexander the Great conquered Jerusalem. One of the provinces in
Jerusalem was called Yehud, the region was soon referred to as loudaia and the inhabitants were
referred to as loudaioi. Respectively, loudaia and loudaioi translate to Judea and Judeans. The
inhabitants were referred as such because of the tendency to name inhabitants after the area in

The term became further complicate when Hasmonean kings conquered Samaria, Galilee, and
Idumea and imposed their law on the nations that they conquered. As a consequence, those with
no history of Judean rule became loudaioi. As a result of this new conquest, those that were now
loudaioi were still different from the original loudaios because they were original a part of a
different ethnic group. This also caused conflict when Herod the Great first came to rule; he was
the descendent of Idumeans, so there was much dispute of whether or not he was actually loudaioi.
The second source of confusion happened when people converted. The question of who was
loudaioi and who was not was a tricky topic. This varied between every new case and it depended
on those in question. Conversion was significant because it contributed to the translation of loudaioi

many teen s are losing their lives from gun shots. To decrease the death rate of young adults in

The Causes Of Hate Crime
The murder of Matthew Shepard in October of 1998 sparked a movement against the seemingly
new gay hate crime. Before the crime there was all sorts of laws and bills that were being decided
upon that affected the LGBTQ community, but the murder of Matthew Shepard really brought
LGBTQ rights into the light. Hate crimes oriented towards LGBTQ persons are not new, and have
not decreased in frequency in the recent years despite the inclusion of anti hate crimelaws that were
brought into place. Being educated on the topic and my role as a citizen in this country, I know
that there is still a lot of growing that needs to take place in order to let the United States be one
hundred percent accepting of the LGBTQ community and prevent more hate crimes from arising.
There is a systematic denial of rights in the United States currently that reflects the time period
surrounding Matthew Shepard s death. In order to successfully combat the denial of rights and the
oppression the group faces that leads to murders like Shepard s, it is important to take a look at
what exactly is the cause of this inherent hatred of difference and start from there. One of the best
approaches I can think of is to look at the issue from the standpoint of a justice oriented citizen. As a
justice oriented citizen, the response to this issue would be to look at the stigma surrounding the
LGBTQ community. LGBTQ discrimination can be considered a political issue, what with recent
happenings like the

Under Suleiman the Magnificent the Ottoman Empire was a force to be reckoned with, it ruled
the Middle East and Suleiman was quickly realizing his goal of advancing into Europe. However
in 1529 a major military upset in the Austrian city of Vienna would halt the Islamic Ottoman
expansion and save Europe from the possibility of Ottoman control. However this might not had
been the case if it were not for several key disadvantages the Ottoman Empirehad against the
Viennese. Suleiman the Magnificents defeat during the siege of Vienna, 1529, was caused by poor
weather conditions, chaos and disorganization amongst the Ottoman ranks, and a much stronger
Viennese defense than was anticipated.

This divided Hungary into two states, Royal Hungary and Ottoman Hungary, this division lasted
until 1700.
In the spring of 1529 Suleiman the Magnificent began to construct his massive army in Ottoman
Bulgaria, his objective is to conquer and secure control over all of Hungary and eliminate the
threat posed by Ferdinand I and the Holy Roman Empire. Estimates of the size of Suleiman s army
vary vastly from around 100,000 men to well over 300,000. The army also consisted of many units
of Sapahi, the elite Ottoman Calvary, and thousands and thousands of Janissaries, an extremely well
trained Ottoman fighting force. With such a vast group moving all at once there were certain
inherent difficulties the Ottomans faced. The biggest of these would be the sheer chaos caused by
the disorganization. Desertion was particularly rampant amongst the Ottoman forces and with the
disorganization it was nearly impossible to properly distribute resources, malnourishment was a big
problem because of the difficulty of acquiring food. This would mark a major disadvantage of the
Ottoman morale; it diminished their will to fight, and thus, their will to win.
Suleiman launched his campaign on May 10th, because this was so late in the year, the weather
was almost immediately a problem. The spring rains associated with that area of Europe caused
flooding and bridge wash outs were very common, this barley allowed to troops to leave

The Influence Of Cheetos In Popular Culture
Popular culture is what combines ideas and objects generated by a society, including
commercial, political, media, and other systems, as well as the impact of these ideas and objects
on society. And food tends to be a part of it, since culture does indeed affect our eating practice.
One particular food that was introduced during the 1940s and is still going strong is Cheetos. And
here we are going to focus on how Cheetos came to be and the reasons why it was introduced and
its effect on our eatinghabits and diets.
Cheetos is a brand of cheese flavored, cornmeal snacks made by Frito Lay. Fritos creator Charles
Elmer Doolin invented Cheetos in 1948, and began national distribution in the U.S. In 2010,
Cheetos was ranked as the top selling brand of cheese puffs in the primary market of the United
States and its worldwide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coating of cheese, salt tends to send our bain pleasure feelings, leading us to eat more and
more. Thus it becomes very addictive.
In conclusion, Cheetos has and still is playing a big role in media attention, as the use of
convenience foods is increasing. What we eat is somehow determined by the interaction between
economic, technological, social values, in other words by pop culture.

Examples Of Suspense In Stranger Things
Suspense is when the author makes the reader, or audience excited or scared for what might
happen in the story, or even what will happen to the character next in the story. Suspense might
even be something you see or hear that will make you have questions about what will happen
next. If there is a cliffhanger at the end of a story, it will leave you with questions wondering
what will happen to the characters next. The mood, tone, setting, emotions of character, sound and
sight might affect how the story is suspenseful. We all enjoy watching suspenseful movies and
reading stories, because they are exciting. It leaves us with questions that the author won t have
the answers to in the end, so the author gives us as the audience, the chance to make up their own
ending to the story or movie. The author will give you clues throughout the story, to help you fill
in questions you might have in the end. This makes it more exciting for the reader and the
audience because we get to engage with the characters in the book or movie. The tv series,
Stranger Things, is about 4 kids who have to fight off monsters in a little town in Indiana. This TV
show is a great example of suspense, and it shows it effectively because, of Foreshadowing,
Dilemma, and Dramatic Irony presented throughout the show. With just using those four examples,
Stranger Things is a great example of suspense. The example, foreshadowing is when the writer
gives the audience clues in the text or script about what

New York by Vintage Books. The author Jaron Lanier writes the excerpt raising awareness to how
technology changes people and how technology is helping the spread of fragmentary among the
people of the world. In the Excerpt Lanier is investigating the affects technologyhas on society.
Lanier is also investigating how communication and the perception of reality are being altered by
the technology. His argument in the excerpt is that the sense and practice of fragmentary that
technology has brought to the world and society is not normal. Lanier is raising the awareness that
practice of fragmentary has gone too far and is now almost defining the people of the world. His

I am a proud user of technology and I love how easily it allows me to connect to people all across
the world. The text in my opinion didn t have any effect on what I think about technology. But I do
think that the excerpt is definitely relevant and important to our culture at this day in time because
technology has gotten to the point where it is now being incorporated into everything around us.
As we talked about a lot in class this term I definitely think technology is becoming a monster that
is consuming the lives of people everywhere.
If I was writing an article like the one Lanier wrote about this topic my argument would be
completely opposite. It would be completely pro technology. I would talk about how the invention
of the many electronics of use today and how they are such a convenience in making our lives better.

How Did The American Revolution Affect France

Seven Years War was a war that involved France and Britain, in which Britain defeated France
leaving them in an economic crisis. In addition, France continued to participate in the American
Revolution, in order to get revenge on Britain, this conclusively backfired, as it brought liberal ideas
to France and also pushed them further into their economic catastrophe. Ultimately, the Seven Years
War and the American Revolution led France to a position of being susceptible to revolution, due to
their plundering economic status and the new ideals brought forward. The Enlightenment also
altered France s way of thinking, as it introduced revolutionary beliefs. Socially, Enlightenment
ideas heavily impacted the French Revolution in the sense that views of liberty reflected in
Montesquieu s The Spirit of the Laws as well as beliefs pertaining to revolution, mentioned in John
Locke s Two Treaties of Government can be directly linked to the Third Estate s desire to be
represented in an equal manner and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen.
Religiously, Enlightenment ideas weren t as impactful as social ideas. Although, the concept of
rationalism was a major cause for the Catholic Church s property to be nationalized and sold with
hopes of financing the state. In addition, the National Assembly granted Jews and French
Protestants the right to practice their religion, which corresponds with the Enlightenment idea of
religious toleration. The social ideas of the Enlightenment heavily impacted policies of the French
Revolution through the concepts of liberty and revolution, whereas religious ideas can be observed
through rationalism and religious

Risks And Risks Of Risk Management Practices
The aim of risk documentation is to provide security and information to users, such as
management, so that they can make effective decisions (HB 436:2013, pp. 88). AS/NZS ISO
31000:2009 is the standard for risk management principles and guidelines in Australia (HB
436:2013, pp. 2). HB436:2013 provides guidance to the application of AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009
(HB 436: 2013, pp.2). In 2013 HB436:2004 was updated, one of the new changes states that risk
managementpractices should be able to traceable, however, a complete log or record of risks is
not necessarily required (HB436:2013, pg. 88). This essay will discuss the potential risks and
potential decrease in risks which may result due to more flexible documentation options.

It could be hard for stakeholders to understand risks if there is no clear documentation of particular
risks.
For risk management is to be effective, it has to be measured, reviewed and monitored (ISO AU
/NZS 31000:2009, pp 14). This could also be very difficult without a good understanding of each
particular risk.
It is important for organisations to have a good understanding of their risks because they are
often held liable for the actions of their employees (Fadun 2013). If risks are not well documented,
it would be very difficult for different employees as well as management to all have the same
understanding of the risks that face the organisation. If risks are not understood, they cannot
effectively be prepared for or monitored.
Risk disclosure reduces uncertainty in investors, because it creates trusts between investors and the
organisation (Ismail, Rahman Ahmad 2013). If risks are not effectively disclosed and a risk
eventuates as a result of inadequate planning, it can affect the financial outcome of an organisation,
because investors will no longer trust them (Ismail, Rahman Ahmad 2013).
Risk disclosure can also improve the quality of strategic planning (Ismail, Rahman Ahmad 2013).
If an organisation has to disclose a risk they may be more likely to plan more effectively for it,
because they have acknowledged that it could be an issue.
Organisations usually only disclose information which

The answer to the question can only be solved through the articles and the background research.
In the articles one can spot from the information given and the opinion of the people are all
supporters of the oil industry. In the article written by William Wallis, the title shows the audience
the reporter is calling. Nigeria: The big oil fix goes into detail how the oil industry is in need of
fixing. The audience who just reads the article will agree with the data provided because it gives
details about fraud and corruption. In the article, the president states his main concern, which is
fixing the company that manages the lifeblood of the economy oil which could make or break his
presidency. Through this statement one can see how Nigeria is dependent on oil. Unfortunately,
this article does not talk about the corruption that affects the people as well as the background
information about the oil industry.
An example of how the oil production is the cause of Nigeria s state is doing the opposite of
helping the country is seen through the A source in the Review of African Political Economy. In

Comp II Reflection
I have always tried my hardest in school, trying my best to make my parents proud of me. Have
there been time when I could have tried harder? Absolutely. There have been many times where
I have found myself slipping in my schoolwork, and I have always caught myself. There is one
time in particular of my junior year that I won t soon forget. It was the beginning of what was
looking to be a long week. It was supposed to be outrageously cold, I had a full weekend of work to
look forward too, and I had a big paper due in my Comp II class. Now, this paper was different
because instead of being in our Comp II class all week like we were accustomed too, we would
be on our own in the library while we individually went to speak with our teacher about how we
were doing. During first semester, I had really liked the week on our own, but this week was
going to throw a curve on me that I didn t expect. On Monday, everything was fine. I had my
meeting in Comp II where I showed my teacher the rough draft of the essay that was due that
Friday. I was so excited to show her and together we went through the paper and she showed me
the things I needed to add and improve. I left the meeting excited to fix the paper and make it...

  • 3. John Doe Movie 7 We live in a world that is full of horrible things; however, some are inexcusably unspeakable. These horrendous unforgivable deeds are called sins. Sins are actions that go against God s will. Many deeds or actions can be perceived as sins, but there are seven that are exceptionally imperative. We chose the sinister thriller Seven for our movie analysis project. This movie was released in 1995, starring Brad Pitt (Detective Mills), Morgan Freeman (Detective Somerset), Gwyneth Paltrow (Tracy Mills), and Kevin Spacey as the infamous John Doe. Seven was written by Andrew K. Walker and directed by David Fincher (A E Television Network). Antisocial personality disorder is the most difficult to treat. Psychotherapy is sometimes used but not always efficient. Psychiatric medication may also be prescribed to help with certain symptoms but it does not treat the disorder as a whole (Mayo Clinic Staff). The most effective way to treat this disorder is with inpatient residential care, followed by close long term after /outpatient care (Nevid, Rathus and Greene). Narcissistic personality disorder is much easier to treat with a better prognosis. Psychotherapy or talk therapy is the key because it teaches the patient ways to control their emotion and rectifies self absorbed behaviors. The sufferer also learns acceptable ways of mingling with others and society (Dryden Edwards). Prognosis for narcissistic personality disorder is dependent upon the severity and other disorders that they may have, as well as how long it takes for them to realize their problems are a direct result of their self tendencies ... • 4. Case Study Bea Rosen 1. There are a few boundary issues that need to be addressed. The social worker developed a personal relationship with Bea. Bea was in need of additional income, she wanted to find a female to rent her spare room to. The social worker had a friend, a woman who might be interested renting the room (Hoffman, St. Clair, 2003, p. 46). She asked for permission to let her friend know of the room, asking to releasing Bea s information was appropriate. The boundary issue is that the social worker should have not even offered her friend as an option to rent the room. This situation becomes a conflict of interest and cross the boundaries of social worker and client (NASW, 2008, p. 7). In addition to this situation the social worker admitted to having... • 5. Personal Statement For Social Work Personal Statement The pursuit of a doctoral degree is both exciting and humbling for me. It is exciting that I have a clear vision of the career I want to pursue as an academic, and humbling to think of the great opportunity I could have to teach future social workers. Early motivation to enter the field of social work was in response to adverse childhood experiences with domestic violence, parental substance abuse, poverty, and homelessness further complicated by foster care intervention. My foster care experience included five foster placements, enrollment in countless schools, countless lost relationships, and a failed adoption. Though these experiences created much hardship, they have certainly promoted resilience and helped lead me to my current ambition of seeking a Ph.D. As a recipient of foster care intervention, I exited state custody through legal permanence. Through education, advocacy, and direct social work practice with youth in residential treatment, I acquired new skills and insight to addressing social and child welfare problems. I am excited for the opportunity to promote the field of social work in the classroom and improve the lives of youth in the foster care system through my research. Personal Goals In applying to Arizona State University s School of Social Work (ASU SSW) Ph.D. program, I aspire to peruse a career as a social work educator. I plan to use this platform and newly acquired skills developed with the university, to advance the field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As they proceed through different stages of their life, they begin to depend on teachers and superiors therefore creating acceptable standards of inequality. Wine and culture are interdependent in the personal and professional cultural realm of France. Just like a flawless bottle of vintage wine, France displays perfection in the land and its people (Gannon Pillai, 2013, p. 229). As a result, wine has shaped the country s disposition weaving a common thread through all the varying walks of French life (Gannon Pillai, 2013, p. 227). The manager also stated, each person has a defined responsibility , once you have completed your role you no longer have a say in what happens to the project at the next level, thus no one is individually responsible . Bad choices are made because of the blind following of power . Managers from the United States may have the exact job in France however they have fewer tasks because of the hierarchical structure. For that reason, managers have no authority to affect the final outcome of a project. The lack of autonomy creates a lack of achievement and satisfaction which Americans value. From a business standpoint, if a country such as France, scores high in power distance, there is a tendency to have more male controlled traditions. As a result, managerial positions are typically held by men, and the women who do hold leadership positions experience negativity. Considering the United States scored a 40 in power distance indicates they are less accepting of unequal distribution and inequality. As an American manager, working abroad in France I will face many challenges coming from a society that is lower in power distance. • 7. Ockham s Razor There are different ways we come to know the stuff in this world. We generally prefer theories that are simple. The simpler the theory, the less entities involved; therefore, the fewer assumptions we have to make. Quine supports the principle Ockham s Razor in acceptance of an ontology. Ockham s Razor is a principle that is preferred when trying to determine our ontological beliefs. The first step of Quine s method suggests that we use simple theories. As a naturalist, Quine also only takes what scientific theories give him. This is slightly problematic because that means only sciencecan determine what exists and seems to deny common sense. • 8. Kitty Kallen s Argument Essay Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path is a Swedish proverb. This proverb means that one should make an effort to check up on their friends and always try. All people know they must talk to their friends to keep them. Or, try and help out to keep something working. Not much is known about the origin of this proverb even though it is popular. It is important to live by go often to the house of a friend; for weeds soon choke up the unused path which can be shown through Kitty Kallen, Beryl Grey, 11 Birthdays, and the United Way drive. • 10. Paul Laurence Dunbar Sympathy Summary All beings require a degree of freedom to truly live, as such, caged animals are often subjected to a life subpar to truly living. Consequently, this rule applies to humans as well, and unfortunately enough, most humans in our era fail to live. In the poem Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar, Dunbar seeks to explore this sullen connection with the speaker and a caged animal feels by utilizing repetition and metaphor. The first stanza begins with the primary metaphor of the caged bird. In this line, the speaker states that he knows what the caged bird feels (line 1). Under the assumption that the speaker, like most people, cannot speak to animals, his understanding of the bird s feelings must come from inference from observation. Dunbar goes onto depict a beautiful landscape of the birds natural habitat. However, the feelings of the depiction are clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This line shows that the bird is not simply trying to fly away without understanding the limits of the change, the bird seems to represent the spirit of a stallion rejecting the enforced domestication of its captors. The last stanza summarizes the predicament of the cage bird, and the odd act which the caged bird commits, the caged bird sings (line 15). • 11. European Imperialism Research Paper Emily Wren IR 351 Woldemariam 9 October 2014 The history of Morocco relevant to European colonialism begins with the Arab conquest of North Africa in the late seventh century. When the Arabs arrived, they brought with them the religion of Islam and converted the people they found there. Those people were the Berbers, who are indigenous to the region. Like the Europeans to come later, the Arabs imposed taxes on the Berbers, however the Arabs allowed the Berbers to keep the laws and customs they already had. Later, less than a century after this conquest, the Berbers revolted and regrouped into smaller, self governed states. Islam in Morocco took different forms after that, with each state bending it to its own needs. After a period of chaos ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the explicit goal of Lyautey and his associates was to improve the quality of indigenous public service so that eventually it would function with only minimal French intervention (Gershovich). France contributed a lot to Morocco during its time as a colonial influence. It built 26,660 miles of roadways. It also helped to improve other infrastructure as well as modernize agricultural systems. France gifted to Morocco, with their own goals in mind, the starting blocks of a prosperous, efficient economy. That being said, Lyautey worked hard to not allow colons to enter Morocco, but the French leaders that came after him did not feel the same way. Colons did end up in the region, and Lyautey tried hard to prove that, he was not in a conquered country and to maintain the fiction that the French had been invited there to help (Bidwell). Regardless, racism proliferated and the indigenous population was subjugated. After Lyautey, Morocco began to resemble a different colonized state one under harsh foreign rule. They kept the faГ§ade of the sultan, and built schools and hospitals, but without involving the Moroccans in the process. Eventually, French rule over Morocco became so harsh compared to how it was under Lyautey that in 1953, Moroccans were, being imprisoned for waving their national banner (Bidwell). Another concept the French subscribed to, as well as other colonizers, was separating ethnic tribes or groups and putting them against each other in order to keep control over the region. For example, the, Berber Dahir legislation of 1930 that had established different legal systems for the two Moroccan ethnic groups, Imazighen (Berbers) and Arabs a policy resented by both groups ... • 12. Oprah Winfrey Golden Media Rhetorical Analysis Should celebrities use their spotlights to speak their minds about politics and current world issues? Some argue that celebrities are only here to entertain and should not ruin that by voicing their political opinions. Mark Wahlberg for example, stated in an interview with Task and Purpose that celebrities should stay out of politics as they are in their own little bubble and have no way of truly understanding the struggles of average people. On the website for this movement, it is told that this movement was founded in 2006 by Tarana Burke as a movement to spread awareness of sexual harassment and assault, empowering women to use #MeToo if they have experienced either in their lives. Also referenced was the Time s Up movement, a similar movement that was specifically made for women in the entertainment industry who have been taken advantage of by men who are above them in the business, men who abuse their power at the expense of women. Very recently there was a movement of women in Hollywood publicly accusing their attackers, unmasking many individuals and revealing who they really are. One of the most notable cases, as well as one of the first, was the women who accused producer Harvey Weinstein. • 13. Compare and Contrast the Rise and Fall of Mesopotamia and... In this project I plan on exploring the contrasts and comparisons between the rise of Mesopotamia and Egypt. I chose this particular question because during my junior year I took and AP World History class in which we of course studied the worlds history. One on my favorite things that we studied in that class was ancient Empires. Mr. Herman, my AP teacher during that time, went through the Mesopotamian and Egyptian Empires rather too quickly for my tastes. I felt as though there were a lot of things that I missed and would have loved to study. So during my preparations for the AP exams I wrote a brief essay on comparing and contrasting the rise and fall of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian Empire. I enjoyed writing this essay and was quite interested in the topic. Despite the fact this didn t make up much of the exam I later decided that this would be my capstone topic backup in case I don t like the one I came up with in the future. And like I predicted I did not like my previous topic and chose to continue this. The reason I thought to do this for my capstone after my other idea failed was because I found that people would get a lot more out of this. We go to an arts school and frankly unless something has to do with the history of our art forms people don t really pay that much attention to history, unless they plan to become an anthropologist. I found that with this I can educate my classmates on the history of those who came before us and then apply it to current day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Biblical Mandate For Music Premise 1. Music performs an important and independent role within the Biblical narrative. From beginning to end the Bible is full of music and song. The first musician, Jubal, makes his appearance as early as Genesis 4... As we turn the pages, we find many who follow in Jubel s musical footsteps (Roberts, 2002:84) This premise is predicated on the hypothesis that music plays an independent and important role within scripture itself; that is to be an elevated carrier for liturgy and prayer, the use of which is mandated by God for corporate worship. The instruction to make music in worship moves beyond the Levites alone (Foley, 1992) and stretches into the whole body of Israel. Frame (1996:111) says Scripture plainly teaches that God s people are not only to speak, but also to sing, the truth of God (eg. 1 Chron. 16:9; Ps. 33:2 3; Col. 3:16). This last verse demonstrates how the mandate for music has carried on through to the New Covenant people of God. Synagogue worship heavily influenced emerging Christian music (Foley, 1992:35, 50) as seen throughout the New Testament (Martin, 1967:17). We could add Eph. 15:9 (White, 1993, 1996), and Heb. 2:12 where Jesus quotes Ps. 22:22, applying it to the early church. This also challenges the presupposition behind the question, that music was not historically seen as essential. In the New Testament era of Church history, the Levitical Jewish traditions of music and hymn singing in corporate worship continued and relied heavily on this Old Testamentbasis (Guiver, 2009:14). You can identify potential candidates for hymns in Phil. 2:6 11 ; Col. 1:15 20; Eph. 5:14, and possibly 1 Cor. 13 (White, 1993:37), and find designated hymns in Luke s gospel (of Elizabeth, 1:42 45; Mary, 1:46 55; Zechariah, 1:68 79; and Simeon, 2:29 32). All of these combine the language of Jewish history and personal experience of the singer (White, 1993:37). Jesus also engages with corporate singing with His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Essay about Rhetoric vs. Truth The relationship between rhetoric and truth is a highly conflicted topic. Two philosophers that discuss this topic are Plato and Nietzsche. Plato argues that rhetoric is merely a useful craft that deals only in the subjective and material world rather than in the pursuit of true knowledge. Nietzsche, on the other hand, argues that absolute truths are unobtainable since individuals are incapable of being completely objective, thereby rendering the debate between rhetoricand truth meaningless. Although both are valid points of view, Nietzsche s argument appears to hold more weight insofar as it seems to solve the debate between rhetoric and truth by eliminating absolute truth altogether. To begin, Platos view of rhetoric stems from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is one of the reasons why he believes that rhetoric is not synonymous with truth. Plato argues against rhetoric because it deals in the material world, which is not the place where ideas exist, nor does it attempt to attain truth. Rhetoric is more or less, the flawed knowledge of the world being manipulated by language for everyday matters, such as politics and law, rather than being used in the pursuit of absolute truths. Rhetoric is therefore useless. He furthers his argument against rhetoric in his dialogue Gorgias. In Plato s Gorgias, he argues that rhetoric is untruthful by being based on belief, as well as having the potential for manipulation and deception. In the dialogue, Plato has Socrates distinguish between true knowledge and belief. He argues that there can be false as well as true beliefs, however, there is only true knowledge one is concrete while the other is changeable and unpredictable. Hence, it follows that knowledge and belief are associated and utilized in different professions and subject areas. So, Socrates has Gorgias admit that rhetoric is limited to the fields of politics and law, which he argues deal in persuasion that is based on belief as oppose to instructing about a true knowledge of right and wrong. For example, an orator or lawyer may induce a belief about justice, but cannot actually convey a true ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Greek architecture used 3 main styles that were incorporated all over Greece and is still practiced this day and age. In order to understand the origin of the Jewish Identity, it is important to look at the history behind the term. In the fourth century BCE, Alexander the Great conquered Jerusalem. One of the provinces in Jerusalem was called Yehud, the region was soon referred to as loudaia and the inhabitants were referred to as loudaioi. Respectively, loudaia and loudaioi translate to Judea and Judeans. The inhabitants were referred as such because of the tendency to name inhabitants after the area in which they lived; for example, Egyptians live in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term became further complicate when Hasmonean kings conquered Samaria, Galilee, and Idumea and imposed their law on the nations that they conquered. As a consequence, those with no history of Judean rule became loudaioi. As a result of this new conquest, those that were now loudaioi were still different from the original loudaios because they were original a part of a different ethnic group. This also caused conflict when Herod the Great first came to rule; he was the descendent of Idumeans, so there was much dispute of whether or not he was actually loudaioi. The second source of confusion happened when people converted. The question of who was loudaioi and who was not was a tricky topic. This varied between every new case and it depended on those in question. Conversion was significant because it contributed to the translation of loudaioi into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. The Causes Of Hate Crime The murder of Matthew Shepard in October of 1998 sparked a movement against the seemingly new gay hate crime. Before the crime there was all sorts of laws and bills that were being decided upon that affected the LGBTQ community, but the murder of Matthew Shepard really brought LGBTQ rights into the light. Hate crimes oriented towards LGBTQ persons are not new, and have not decreased in frequency in the recent years despite the inclusion of anti hate crimelaws that were brought into place. Being educated on the topic and my role as a citizen in this country, I know that there is still a lot of growing that needs to take place in order to let the United States be one hundred percent accepting of the LGBTQ community and prevent more hate crimes from arising. There is a systematic denial of rights in the United States currently that reflects the time period surrounding Matthew Shepard s death. In order to successfully combat the denial of rights and the oppression the group faces that leads to murders like Shepard s, it is important to take a look at what exactly is the cause of this inherent hatred of difference and start from there. One of the best approaches I can think of is to look at the issue from the standpoint of a justice oriented citizen. As a justice oriented citizen, the response to this issue would be to look at the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ community. LGBTQ discrimination can be considered a political issue, what with recent happenings like the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under Suleiman the Magnificent the Ottoman Empire was a force to be reckoned with, it ruled the Middle East and Suleiman was quickly realizing his goal of advancing into Europe. However in 1529 a major military upset in the Austrian city of Vienna would halt the Islamic Ottoman expansion and save Europe from the possibility of Ottoman control. In the spring of 1529 Suleiman the Magnificent began to construct his massive army in Ottoman Bulgaria, his objective is to conquer and secure control over all of Hungary and eliminate the threat posed by Ferdinand I and the Holy Roman Empire. Estimates of the size of Suleiman s army vary vastly from around 100,000 men to well over 300,000. The army also consisted of many units of Sapahi, the elite Ottoman Calvary, and thousands and thousands of Janissaries, an extremely well trained Ottoman fighting force. With such a vast group moving all at once there were certain inherent difficulties the Ottomans faced. The biggest of these would be the sheer chaos caused by the disorganization. Desertion was particularly rampant amongst the Ottoman forces and with the disorganization it was nearly impossible to properly distribute resources, malnourishment was a big problem because of the difficulty of acquiring food. This would mark a major disadvantage of the Ottoman morale; it diminished their will to fight, and thus, their will to win. In addition, France continued to participate in the American Revolution, in order to get revenge on Britain, this conclusively backfired, as it brought liberal ideas to France and also pushed them further into their economic catastrophe. Ultimately, the Seven Years War and the American Revolution led France to a position of being susceptible to revolution, due to their plundering economic status and the new ideals brought forward. The Enlightenment also altered France s way of thinking, as it introduced revolutionary beliefs. Socially, Enlightenment ideas heavily impacted the French Revolution in the sense that views of liberty reflected in Montesquieu s The Spirit of the Laws as well as beliefs pertaining to revolution, mentioned in John Locke s Two Treaties of Government can be directly linked to the Third Estate s desire to be represented in an equal manner and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. Religiously, Enlightenment ideas weren t as impactful as social ideas. For risk management is to be effective, it has to be measured, reviewed and monitored (ISO AU /NZS 31000:2009, pp 14). This could also be very difficult without a good understanding of each particular risk. It is important for organisations to have a good understanding of their risks because they are often held liable for the actions of their employees (Fadun 2013). If risks are not well documented, it would be very difficult for different employees as well as management to all have the same understanding of the risks that face the organisation. If risks are not understood, they cannot effectively be prepared for or monitored. Risk disclosure reduces uncertainty in investors, because it creates trusts between investors and the organisation (Ismail, Rahman Ahmad 2013). If risks are not effectively disclosed and a risk eventuates as a result of inadequate planning, it can affect the financial outcome of an organisation, because investors will no longer trust them (Ismail, Rahman Ahmad 2013).
