The main purpose of commercials and advertisements is to persuade the viewer to purchase the
product that is advertised, but not all commercials are successful in this endeavor. Companies, such
as Budweiser and Kleenex, appeal to the viewers ethos, logos, and pathos in order to influence
them to buy the advertised product(s). In order to appeal to each of the categories, companies use
different tactics to catch viewers attention. The use of ethos, logos, and pathos can make or break
an advertisement based on how it is being used.
Budweiser first released its Lost Dog commercial during Super Bowl XLIX (49). The
advertisement centers itself around a small dog who, out of curiosity, enters a truck trailer without
the knowledge of his owner. The dog then attempts to find its way back home but encounters an
obstacle that it cannot overcome a hungry wolf. When all hope seems lost, the dog s best friends,

Consumer Discrimination And Sexual Orientation Based...
Earlier this year, the concepts of consumer discrimination and sexual orientation based
discrimination have come to a forefront in American politics and should be dealt with through
federal legislation (Payne, 2015). Two arguments which can be used to argue on the side of
discrimination are the First Amendment used in tandem with corporate personhood and the First
Amendment used on its own. I argue, however, that corporate personhood is not a legitimate
argument nor is the First Amendment grounds for an individual to discriminate against another.
Another defense of discrimination against consumers is the first section of the Thirteenth
Amendment. The elimination and prevention of the entirety of such discrimination could be
carried out through enacting a single two part law. Two defenses of discrimination include a
combination of the First Amendment with each current precedent regarding corporations and of its
own accord. Current precedent is the concept of corporate personhood wherein a corporation is
treated as a person albeit with controversy regarding their treatment (Ripken, 2010). When this
precedent is used in tandem with the provision that the free exercise of religion shall not be
prohibited in the First Amendment, this makes a case that the government may not prohibit a
corporation from exercising a religion (U.S. Const. amend. XIX). The other possible argument
regarding the First Amendment is the individual s right to exercise their religion. Each of these

The Discovery Of The Marshmallow Test
Can our childhood determine the amount of success we will have in our lives? This is what
psychologist Walter Mischel wanted to find out in his experiment called The Marshmallow Test he
started this experiment in the early 1970s. What he did was give preschoolers a marshmallow and
told them if they waited fifteen minutes without eating it then he would give them two. Later
research found that the children who waited were more successful, but did this test really determine
that the children would be more successful than those who failed? The children who waited showed
delayed gratificationand those who couldn t resist did not. Mischel followed these preschoolers
until they were grown up and he found that they were very successful and able to have self
control. This experiment proves delayed gratification and how the children who waited became
more successful in life, but recent studies prove that this test could just be a result in strategic
reasoning. A marshmallow doesn t seem like a big deal, except to preschoolers who will do
anything for a piece of candy. To me it seems that any preschooler would fail this testing, because
they are young and don t have too much patience. It turns out though, that there are many
preschoolers that will wait because they are smart enough to know that two is better than one. The

This article studies a novel approach to improve membrane separation eciency { application of
external physical in uence (temperature dierence across the membrane). Oppositely directed
pressure and temperature gradients in membrane establish a molecular exchange ow when two
components of the binary gas mixture ow in the opposite directions through the membrane. The
model of gas separator based on this eect is studied numerically at dierent scales. At microscale (in
membrane channels) solution of the linearized Boltz mann equation is used. At macroscale
(external part of the device) the system of Navier Stokes equations for two component gas mixture
is solved using nite volume method adopted for low Mach number limit. Dependence of device
eciency on all of the dening parameters is studied and comparison with previous numerical
