The Power of the Moral Ideal in The Fountainhead Essay
The Power of the Moral Ideal in The Fountainhead
The Fountainhead is a novel of gigantic proportions. It deals with great talent and great mediocrity,
with great love and great hatred, with great ambition and equally great complacence. It
unpretentiously chooses to steer clear of the much hyped common man, with his commonplace dreams
and aspirations.
The theme of The Fountainhead can be summarized in the famous line by the author man s ego is the
fountainhead of human progress . The novel exalts egotism, which is generally looked upon in our
world with great dislike. The protagonist, Howard Roark, is a man used by the author to exemplify
this philosophy. He is a man of outstanding genius whose only fault seems to be ... Show more content

Roark is a man who lives up to the word man . He believes that man alone has power over himself He
does not believe in God or in destiny, simple because he doesn t need to. In order to be truly great a
man must be physically, mentally and spiritually be involved in his work, the way Roark was. Roark
treats his work with the respect and reverence that other men lavish over God. To him, insincerity
towards one s work is the worst blasphemy possible. This is the line of thought that runs throughout
the novel.
The hallmark of Roark is work is his complete irreverence for all precedents, traditions and
conventions. His ideas are too revolutionary to be accepted, but he refuses, at any point of time to
compromise with his ideals, no matter what his compulsions may be. He is a man of such immense
integrity, that he would rather break stones in a quarry than make a substandard building. which is
what the world demands of him.
The reason why some people seek to destroy Howard Roark is that his very presence evokes an
unreasonable fear in their hearts. This quest to destroy the genius within him started from the very
beginning of his career when he was expelled from The Stanton institute of Technology, where he had
been studying architecture. All his teachers except his mathematics professor were against him

Arguments Against Abortion
Introduction Although, currently legalized, abortion continues to be a burdening ethical issue in
America. From 1973 to 2011 approximately 53 million legal abortions were performed in the United
States (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Choice supporters hail an abortion is a woman s choice and a
protected personal right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority (Procon.org,
2015, p.1). However, Pro Life supporters contend that a human life begins at the very moment of
conception and thus an abortion is the immoral killing of an innocent human being (Procon.org, 2015,
p.1). Thus, there are various arguments to be considered on both sides.
Pro Choice
Many contend that in attempting to delegalized abortions the government ... Show more content on

Pro Life supporters insist that a child is considered a human being at the very moment of conception.
Thus, abortion is murder and is unethical because the right to live was stripped from the child. A child
can be aborted up to 24 weeks of life and in some states later (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Furthermore, a
fetus does feel pain during the abortion procedure because by eight weeks the most primitive response
to pain, the spinal reflex, is developed (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Moreover, the psychological affects of
an abortion can be overwhelming such as increased depression and anxiety (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). A
2002 peer reviewed study published by the Southern Medical Journal... found that women who
aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term (Procon.org, 2015,
p.1). Pro Life supporters believe women must not be able to use an abortion as a means of
contraception. If one becomes pregnant, one must be responsible for the child they have brought to the
world. Thousands of families desire to adopt children, thus abortion significantly reduces the number
of adoptable babies (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Lastly, abortion promotes a culture in which human life is
disposable and it is acceptable to rid of a life that inconveniences you (Procon.org, 2015,

Theodore Roethke My Papa s Waltz Summary
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is a demonstration to how a child lives with an alcoholic
father. the Father s addiction to alcohol has a strong effect on the child and his life. The Father also
involves his child into his drunken ways by being abusive towards him. Waltzing is an expression that
the father does because he is drunk. The child still seems to love his father even though he is very
abusive. The child is being dragged into the father s lifestyle. The Theme could be that the waltz was a
dance of the father but now the child is being forced to dance with him.
Imagery is brought when Roethke uses the 5 senses to give off a visual representation of the actions
involved in the drunken affected household. Smell is brought upon

Accidents, Illness and Emergencies in the Early Years Setting
Describe the policies and procedures for dealing with accidents, injuries, illnesses and other
emergencies that are in place within the school setting (P3).
These policies and procedures of accident, injury, illness and other emergencies are in place within the
school setting to govern working practices and provide quality and an agreed framework for action.
The management within the school setting is responsible for creating the policies and for checking that
they are being followed, and the staffs are responsible for implementing the policies.
As all staff and parents must be aware of these policies, you will often find them on a notice board, or
in the settings brochure. It is also important that new staff are informed of these ... Show more content

In order to maintain a clean and healthy environment this policy provides guidance for staff and
parents as to when children should or should not be in school if showing signs of illness. The health
and wellbeing of all children is of paramount importance to enable them to be successful learners and
to be the best that they can be.
Guidance
Children should not be brought to school if they are displaying signs of illness. If parents do bring
children to school and staff feel that they are unfit for school, parents / carers / emergency contact will
be contacted and requested to come and collect their child and requested not to return their child to
school until symptom free.
If a child is thought to be unwell while at school they will be seen by a qualified first aider as the
condition of the child needs to be assessed. This should be done in a kind and caring manner. The
Head Teacher of should be informed of any sick children.
Should a child become ill whilst at school, a member of staff will contact the parent / carer /
emergency contact. While awaiting the arrival of parents, the staff will ensure the comfort of the child
in the school office, taking appropriate action, which would include seeking medical advice if
necessary. If the child is in danger, the staff will seek medical advice immediately. Should a member
of staff consider an illness / situation to warrant immediate medical attention, they will report to a

Where Are You Going Out Of The House And Live Like Adults,...
Teenagers want to get out of the house and live like adults, but without the responsibility. Where are
you going. Where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates describes this for Connie. Connie is a fifteen
year old girl who wants to be older then the age she is now. She dresses one way at home and another
out with her friends. The way older men look at her and treat her is interesting to her. She ends up
meeting somebody that were some trouble and, by the end, things are not going to turn out so well.
Everyone that Connie hangs out with wants to act a certain way and age to get attention. Things in
Connie s life makes her the way she is to the point that she does not care about anything. One of the
reasons Connie acts the way she wants is because of her family. She is an outcast of the family, her
mother cannot stand her, her sister can do no wrong, and her father works all the time so he does not
matter. The reason Connie and her mother do not get along is because the mother loves the sister June
more. June is more of the innocent child where she does as the parents say. June is not as pretty as
Connie, so she has no other choice then to do whatever her parents tell her to do. Connie is like the
pretty younger sister that wants to rebel and do her own thing because she can. Connie is more of the
promiscuous type that hangs out with the bad crowd and is always into trouble. An example from the
text to show how Connie and her mother interact is Why don t you keep your room

Lgbt Committee Discrimination
Why the LGBT committee is being discriminated against
Have you ever felt so strongly about a topic, but when you really think of why you feel that way it s
hard to come up with reasons why? That s kind of how I feel about today s topic; it s an issue I don t
feel even deserves an explanation, it should just be. The topic is on whether or not gay and lesbians
should be allowed to adopt. I am one hundred and ten percent for this issue, and I believe that
everyone should see it as I do. Of course that is a little unreasonable, however that won t stop me from
trying to persuade the other side. There are many facts and statistics that will support my side, along
with an interview from a close friend sharing her views. There is also money, which ... Show more

Foster care is responsible for providing to the needs of children who don t have homes. And who is
responsible for funding these expenses? CNN wrote an article on the average cost of raising a child for
18 years, High income families who live in the urban Northeast, for example, are projected to spend
nearly $455,000 to raise their child to the age of 18, while low income rural families will spend much
less, an estimated $145,500, according to the report (Hicken). Lets go with the lowest number,
$145,000, and divide that by 18 years; roughly $8,000 is spent to care for a child per year in a low
income household. Now lets take a look at how many children are in the foster care system in the
United States. On average, 402,000 children are in the foster care, and in 2013, over 23,000 aged out
of the system ( Children s Rights 1). If we were to do the math, over 3 billion dollars would be spent
on fostering children, per year! By simply allowing same sex couples to adopt, we could save the
government money that could be put to use of other important things, such as improving city parks or
assisting other families who struggle financially. Or better yet, we could be spending money towards
getting help for the kids who have been in foster care and have developed mental health

College Is A Waste Of Time And Money
The amount of money spent on one year alone of college can break someone s heart. For most people
college gets them to where they want to be, but with hard work and dedication going to work right
after high school can take you a long way. Getting out of high school and starting a career early might
be what some people want, but college is always an option with all the help they have today. College
is a waste of time and money for a couple reasons. The fact that you spend 13 years in school just to
go on to most likely spend four more years at some sort of college makes some kids think when it
comes to should I go to college or not. Some kids believe that you can make more money working
right after high school then heading to college for four years. Statistics say in College is a Waste of
Time and Money by Caroline Bird, that if you put in the money you would have spent on college in
the bank and let the interest alone build it up; by the time you are ready to retire you will have an extra
$199,000. Although no bank will give a student that kind of money to put into a savings account that
number opens a student s eyes. With that said, you will be completely debt free if you choose to go
into the work force directly after high school. In 2015 on average a student was in debt $35,000 after
just one year. MarketWatch. N.p. Web. 26 Oct. 2016. That adds up to being around $140,000 after the
completed their four year degree. With that amount of money, you could by yourself

The Italian Resistance Movement
The Italian resistance movement also knows as Resistenza or Movimento Partigiano, had a crucial
impact on World War II final results. The movement has been active approximately since September 8
1943, also known as Armistice day, until the very beginning of May 1945.
The born of the Italian resistance is due to the popular insurrection: Italian people realized where
Fascism and Nazism was driving their country and the whole world and decided to revenge the
national pride. At first people coming from monarchy and anti fascist groups joined the movement but
the number of supporters increased exponentially in the next few years. Civil people didn t have
experience or good military strategy at the beginning so they learn how to fight at their experience
with hundreds loses. They organized them forces in little armed groups spread in the countryside and
woods; insurrections in the factories and surprise attacks. their main goal was catch up the national
insurgent that they will achieve in a couple of year of hard, bloody work. During this period Italy was
still under Vittorio Emanuele III reign, succeeded then by his son, Vittorio Emanuele II. In 1944 born
a new government driven by a liberal man, Ivanoe Bonomi; this policy shift has been crucial in the
Civil War final results in Italy. Between his policy supporters were people driving CNL party as ...

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
William Golding fulfills Hobbes ideas about man with Lord of the Flies when Ralph and Jack battle
over chief authority, when Simon gets killed, and when the boys turn savage against each other.
An example of Golding supporting Hobbes s ideas about human nature is when Jack was trying to get
the boys to vote Ralph off as chief by making his own group of hunters. Hobbes describes man s
nature to be, if any two men desire the same thing, which... they cannot both enjoy, they become
enemies; and... endeavor to destroy or subdue one another. (Hobbes). With this quote, Hobbes is
saying that if two people were to want the same thing and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hobbes expresses his thoughts of man as, war consisteth not in battle only, or the act of fighting; but
in a tract of time, wherein the will to contend by battle is sufficiently known. (Hobbes). With this
quote, Hobbes is saying that what makes up the idea to go to war or battle isn t the actual fighting but
the choice of going into this state to solve problems rather than a different way. This is shown in Lord
of the Flies with the boys, Simon, and the beast. Simon was trying to warn the boys about the beast
but was confused for the beast. When the boys thought they saw the beast, they followed Jack s chant
and order to kill it. Golding writes, The beast was on its knees in the center, its arms folded over its
face. It was crying out against the abominable noise something about a body on the hill. (Golding
152). Here, Simon was trying to protect himself from the boys as he tried to tell the boys about his
encounter with the lord of the flies. Jack and the tribe were so occupied and determined to kill the
beast, that they didn t tell the difference between a creature and Simon. They don t really know why
they re actually killing the beast because they re just thinking about fighting and battling. These
actions are what

Competition Vs. Monopoly Essay
1. Analyze the fast food industry from the point of view of perfect competition. Include the concepts
of elasticity, utility, costs, and market structure to explain the prices charged by fast food retailers.
Firms within the fast food industry fall under the market structure of perfect competition. Market
structure is a classification system for the key traits of a market. The characteristics of perfect
competition include: large number of buyers and sellers, easy entry to and exit from the market,
homogeneous products, and the firm is the price taker. Many fast food franchises fit all or most of
these characteristics.
Competition within the industry as well as market supply and demand conditions set the price of
products sold. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the current prices, firms may sell as much product as they want, thereby maximizing profits.
This industry has a very high utility value. Utility is a measure of satisfaction or pleasure that is
obtained from consuming a good or service. If consumers feel as if they get a good meal, at a good
price, then they re satisfied. This customer satisfaction coupled with relatively low prices keeps the
industry profitable.
Another quality of perfect competition that may be overlooked, but is vital to this industry is the ease
of entry into the market. Start up franchises within this market structure can begin operating with
relatively low initial investments (compared to other industries). This is not the case where
monopolies are concerned. There are numerous barriers to entry into monopolistic market structures,
capital being one of the most prominent barriers.
If a new franchise an offer the consumer a quality product at a reduced price, then the chances of
success are greatly increased. For example, Chanello s and Little Caesar s offer discounted pizza
prices, and maintain the same quality as other pizza chains. These companies spend less on advertising
and more on the actual product. That s a very important concept in this industry, because their quality
product at this discounted price gives them a niche in the market. Once a company establishes a niche,
they become more visible to the

Analysis Of The Book Leading From The Second Chair
The book Leading From the Second Chair discusses what it is like to lead from the second chair. This
was a semi new concept for me. I have always heard of leadership and know that it is something
special, however, I never thought of leading from the second chair. This phrase means being a leader
but not the person in charge. This is something that is foreign to me. I have always though that a
leader is in charge of their section and other leaders are in charge of their section and eventually they
come together to put it all together. However, though going through the experience of my internship
and going through this book and leadership class I have learned that this is not the case. When you

pastor. A Sr. pastor is over the whole church and untimely is where most people look when they see
problems going on in the church. The Sr. pastor tends to be the face of the church, just as the president
is the face for the United States. To be a second chair leader to the pastor you are either an associate
minister, or a small specific type of minister, for example youth, children s, young adults, and so on
and so forth. So if you are an associate minister, at least in the United Methodist Church, you may
want your Sr. pastors job but you do not really have any say who will get it or not, so most of the time
you just do not fight with them. If you are a small specific type of minister you more than likely do
not want the Sr. pastor s job because that is not where your calling is or you would not be doing this
job. While that is the basis of the structure it is also important to remember that while the Sr. pastor is
over those in the second chair more likely than not the Sr. pastor wants your input on things and wants
you to succeed. If your Sr. pastor does not want you to succeed then you need to find a different job.
With that in mind the first chair is not some one that you should fight with over things but someone
you should listen to and bounce ideas off of. I currently use this information while at my internship.
Every week I meet with my Sr. pastor to go over the things that I am doing in

Personal Epistemology
Epistemology is generally the study of knowledge and knowing (Braten, 2010). Although, personal
epistemology refers to the belief about one s knowledge and the process of knowing (Braten, 2010).
To help develop the personal epistemology belief, questions will be addressed with supportive sources
to give a better understanding of knowledge and learning.

McDonalds Pricing Strategies
McDonalds focuses of four major pricing strategies: product line, promotional, penetration, and value
pricing. Product line pricing is a unique pricing strategy that falls solely on their many product lines
(McDonald s Pricing Strategies). Economic conditions may change rapidly, thus warranting change in
the product or the product line. During the Asian currency crisis, McDonald s replaced french fries
with rice in its Indonesian restaurants due to the cost considerations. With the collapse of the local
rupiah, potatoes, the only ingredient McDonald s imports to Indonesia, quintupled in price. In
addition, a new rice and egg dish was introduced to maintain as many customers as possible the
economic hardship (International Marketing. 9th edition pg.335). In order to appeal to the local
demographic, international marketers must make sure products do not contain ingredients that might
be in violation of legal requirements or religious or social customs. Since Indonesia is in a Muslim
country, McDonalds Maharaja Mac is made with non beef products (International Marketing. 9th

strengthens and grants them more experience as an assassin. During the 14th and 15th century the
clothing worn by the brotherhood was that of robes and cloaks. They did this to disguise themselves
and the weapons that they carried. Today, assassins would be wearing full business suits to hide and
conceal their blades or other weapons they may be carrying. During the time an assassin is with the
brotherhood they will move up in rank. Upon achieving a new rank the assassin will receive new

Analysis Of The Haunting Of Lobo Manor
The Haunting of Lobo Manor Play Review With influences from her students aid Emily Pippins and
her students, Rachel Carothers created The Haunting of Lobo Manor with the intentions to not only
scare customers, but to raise the finances for William Finn s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling
Bee, a musical Little Elm High School will be presenting soon. Although I attended on October 28th,
The Haunting of Lobo Manor was a 3 day haunted house located in Little Elm High Schools Black
Box Theatre spanning from October 27th through October 29th of 2017 with a Family Time prior to
the regular time with the exclusion of jumpscares and flashing lights. After a 15 minute walk to the
school, I arrive when it s well and dark; the perfect time to go to a spooky event. After the pleasant
performance by two boys from the Guitar Club while in waiting, I did enter the Black Box which held
a dark environment with a few flashing lights exposing glimpses of red from the blood and guts .
Because there were multiple scenes in the haunted house, there were multiple unnamed characters.
With that, the characters and their descriptions goes as followed:
The Doctor and his Patients: As any doctor, he wore a lab coat but was covered in blood. The patient
on the table was in a hospital gown while the patient who was chained to the table looked as if he was
taken from right off the streets.
The Girl and her Doll: The girl was wearing a nightgown and looked rather normal even though she

Dorothea Dix’s Effects on Asylum Reform, the Civil War,...
Dorothea Lynde Dix is a famous woman in history that has been commemorated for her many helpful
contributions to the world. Throughout her life span, she singlehandedly bestowed her assistance to
individuals, states, and even full countries. She is known for many small, well rounded triumphs but
when summed up, all equate to a large portion of kind, beneficial deeds and charitable works.
Dorothea Dix left an impact on the world through her efforts of sharing her teachings with others, the
treatment and care of the mentally ill, and with her nursing in the Union army. When Dix was at the
young age of fourteen in 1821, through the encouragement of her family, she created an academy for
wealthy adolescent children. In order to make her teaching even more privileged, Dix studied
astronomy, mineralogy, and the natural sciences for two years (Buckmaster 5). Once her first school
took off, she created another. The second school that Dix conducted was for poor children who could
not afford to go to anywhere else. Because of her strict ways of teaching and her passion for her work,
both of Dix s schools became very popular and victorious ( Dorothea Lynde Dix , Encyclopedia of
World Biography). Her ways of teaching helped many students benefit intellectually. When Dix s poor
health became distracting to her instructional career, she was forced to take breaks from teaching.
During these breaks, Dix spent her time writing books ( Dorothea Lynde Dix , History.com). Since

The Effect Of Urbanization On Wildlife
In modern day urban settings, it is not uncommon to walk outside and experience Madagascar right in
the city parks. OK, maybe not quite Madagascar yet, but cities are getting there. The wildlife that used
to live out in the wild are now migrating into urban areas because there are no resources left for them
in their original homes. The problem is humans. Humans have taken over the resources, homes, and
economies that animals need to survive, so they are forced to come closer and closer to humans. The
movement caused by this is creating many problems between humans and the animals that are forced
to move. Urban wildlife is beginning to cause damage to the environment and needs to be stopped.
The effect that urbanization has on wildlife is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the causes of fear loss is caused by animals being too closely associated with the millions of
humans that surround them on a daily basis. The animals are forced to reside in human habitat because
they have nowhere else to live. The closeness can cause alterations and some urban animals trade
personal space for the convenience of the city (Soniak). Species continue to be made to live side by
side to humans and breathe the exact same air that they do. They practically share homes with humans
now because of the lack of space and the excessive populations of urban wildlife. What used to be
considered taboo is presently different because the relationship between humans and large predators is
changing (Mahoney). Large predators who lose their fears and approach humans in search for food or
water are put in danger because humans misunderstand the animals and what they are trying to tell
them. They may view a harmless approach for food as a murder spree targeted straight at them.
Another problem that follows urbanization is the harmony between humans and animals that has been
around for years is now being disturbed. The amount of wildlife deaths in urban cities is rising as
more human populations expand and grow. Some threats to urban wildlife include: habitat loss, light
and noise pollution, invasive species, chemical runoff/ pollution and habitat fragmentation. For the

The Fragments Of The Past
Fragments of the Past It s happening today. It s bound to happen. Before you ask what is going to take
place, I must say today is the day you re going to find a strange box. You might ask, Where? or How?
or even Why are you telling me this nonsense? I must answer with, You decide where, when, and how
you re going to find the precious boxed artifact. Will you find it in the attic or in the corner of the
spacious basement? Will you dig it up in your backyard, underneath the scraggly, sunlit grass? I don t
know. It s your fate. What can be inside this ancient, cracked box covered in layers of densely packed
dust that obscured this box for centuries? You scrape away the dust to see the charred, maroon clad lid
embroidered with golden thread. You lift it gently. Your action reveals an old piece of parchment. It
reads: Dear reader. I m not surprised you ve found this letter. It has to be at least three or four centuries
since I ve written this, eh? I have managed to translate and modify this letter so it fits a more modern
style of text. Anyway, this is an experiment called E#P295ML; it will reveal to you what exactly

The Impact that Lenin had on Russia and the Russian People
Russia was an enormous empire and had over 55,650,000 Russians in it. The leader of Russia from
1905 to 1917 was Tsar Nicholas II (emperor) who was ruler of Russia. The Tsar was independent and
had autocratic power, which meant that he shared his power with no one, meaning Russia didn t have
to vote. Before the Tsar was in power the Russian army performed a war against Japan and lost
because their army was very unequipped and was made up of conscripts (people forced in the army).

The Social Democrats was another main group in Russia. The factory workers mainly supported these
people because all the existing Governments would be overthrown and all the wealth would be shared

====================================================================
In 1905 there was a revolution, which failed, once the war ended things got really bad in Russia
because mutinies were happening in the army because they had no equipment, food and training.
Strikes broke out and around 250,000 people went on strike because the peasants didn t get land, the
soldiers wanted to lead there normal lives again and get a job, also Social Revolutionaries wanted a
Duma which was a parliament. So the Tsar set up a Duma but didn t really listen to their suggestions
and if somebody said anything wrong then he dismissed the whole parliament. So I don t really think
it was real democracy, but this carried on for a while so the Tsar survived the attempt of a revolution,
which failed.

Instructions For Creating A Voice Narrated Powerpoint
Instructions on How to Create a Voice Narrated PowerPoint
Introduction
This report provides step by step instructions for eighth grade students on how to create a voice
narrated PowerPoint with slides that advance automatically for Windows users.
Creating a PowerPoint is a computer process in which the user uses the Microsoft Word PowerPoint
feature to create a presentation.
Knowing how to create a PowerPoint presentation with slides that advance automatically and are
voice narrated is a beneficial process to know as a student. Creating PowerPoint presentations is a
process students will go through throughout the course of their schooling, and they may possibly use
this process after schooling depending on their career. Using PowerPoint is helpful for both the
presenter and the person viewing the presentation. Presentations provide a way for people who are
visual learners, or people who prefer viewing images and viewing words, as well as audio learners,
people who prefer hearing discussions, a more effective way to learn. According to Wendy Corbett,
who is certified in designing learning, When you use both words and pictures, you are actively
engaging both working and long term memory (Corbett, 2015, p.66). This means that using learning
or teaching tools that provide both discussion and a visual allows the viewers to actively use their
memory, which will in turn aid in the viewer remembering what the presentation was about. As a
presenter, using PowerPoint

There are many different variables one can look at in order to answer the question of how identical are
the identical twins. In this study intelligence is selected as a variable to be analyzed. The study
explores the impact of environment, genetics and sex on intelligence. What influences intelligence has
been studied as part of health and development for a long period of time? This study provides with
data on genetic factor and environment effect on development. Also it will help us understand how
identical twins can or cannot be different regardless of their similar genetic makeup.
With the introduction of the theory of evolution came the debate of nature vs nurture or genes vs
environment. According to theory of evolution, organisms adapt to the changes in their environment.

Essay on The American Revolution and the Formation of Bolivia
 Introduction
The American Revolution did much more than any of our founding fathers had ever imagined, it
started a movement that would threaten the very roots of colonialism across the globe. Setting an
example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the United States inspired regions such as Latin
America to fight for their rights and liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was
Upper Peru, which would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the
war, the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major battles, but
even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of the nation. From the year
1809, Upper Peru was engaged in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simon Bolivar, who had a reputation of being a liberator, took center stage. The common folk began
to trust his words, as he talked about fighting for the resources that were theirs, ideals taken directly
from the American Revolution itself. Also with the power struggle created by the Napoleonic wars,
uprisings began. The most prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which
led to the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power from the
Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take shape, Latin Nations such as
Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian liberators. Surprisingly, America didn t live up to
its reputation, having no negative impact on this revolution. Normally, America had been notorious for
backing up the dictators or colonial powers and suppressing the Latin liberators. All in all, the
combination of a power struggle brought upon by foreign wars, introduction of revolutionary
independence ideals, proper leadership, and foreign aid, the Bolivian revolution was successful in
liberating the nation from Spanish Colonial power after 16 years of conflict.

Godly Education Essay
Through wisdom a house is builded; and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge shall
the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Proverbs 24:3, 4 Education is vital in life.
If we did not have education, no one would be able to do anything challenging with his or her minds,
unless trained by experience. This is what Plato knew thousands of years ago. He knew education
produced a balance and harmony of character. This education model is not seen in public education,
except in the classical model, which borrowed many of his concepts. This kind of education, however,
sought to bring out political men of who were capable to fight. As Christians, however, we should
always seek in our education to glorify God, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, he says, We shall persuade mothers and nurses to tell our chosen stories to their children and by
means of them to mold their minds and characters, which are more important then their bodies. Plato
goes on from the content to form. He calls poetry direct speech because the poet or narrator puts
himself in the position of the character speaking, in thinking his thoughts and feeling his feelings.
Plato firmly objects to this method. In Greek culture, it was the norm for a Greek student, when
reciting Homer, to throw himself into the story, delivering the speeches with the tones and jesters of an
actor. In this way, Plato was preoccupied with the mortal and theological aspects of poets because
from them the ordinary Greek man was expected to acquire his moral and theological notions. Plato
solves this dilemma by saying, If they (children) do take part in dramatic or other presentations, they
must from their earliest years act the part only of characters suitable to them men of courage, self
control, piety, freedom of spirit and similar qualities. Plato points out that music, of the Greek culture
represents the life of the listener. He states that music is the basis used primarily in the teaching of
harmony and discipline. Plato goes on to say, parents should instill good character qualities, since
children are easily impressed. This can be good or bad. Perhaps a child has loving

Feminism Portrayed in Three Different Time Periods Essay
Feminism is something that has played with Literature since the beginning of time. Novels and poems
were a way for women to express themselves in ways that they never could at home. I chose pieces of
Literature from the three different time periods that we have covered. For the Romantic Era, I chose
the differences between Barbauld and Wollstonecraft. For the Victorian Era, I chose Mrs. Warren s
Profession . For the 20th Century, I chose To Room 19 . Barbauld and Wollstonecraft were both
feminists. The differences between them vary from Wollstonecraft s devout Christianity, and Barbauld
s in your face feminist views. Wollstonecraft agreed with the views that women should not be walked

I don t believe that what she did was wrong. I think she found a way for her family where there wasn t
one, and just because she wasn t society s idea of a lady means that she was not a good person. To
Room 19 is one of the more depressing ideas of feminism. This story shows a woman who did
everything right, but none of it mattered in the end. Susan loved her husband, and did everything that
he asked. Susan was the perfect housewife that did everything she was asked. She never fought or
yelled, even when her husband cheated on her. The downside to being the perfect woman is you are
not yourself. She held everything in to the point where she lost who she was. She became a robot to
society. Susan thought that by allowing her husband to do whatever he wanted, she would find her
own happiness. She lost herself when she held in all of her feelings. Susan killed herself because she
was miserable, and nobody noticed. The idea of feminism in this story is that a perfect woman to
society is a miserable woman. Society believed through the ages that women were to be seen, and not
heard. Clean, cook, and take care of the children. Those were the tasks assigned to women, and to
stray from that path was dishonorable. Of all the stories, and movies that we have seen play out over
the years there will never be true equality among men and women. I chose these pieces to prove that
views of women may change slightly over the

Foil Characters In The Kite Runner
The character of Hassan is shown to be the symbol of loyalty. He grew up only knowing how to be a
servant and so he only knew how to give his loyalty. When Assef demands the kite, he stands strong
and refuses to give it up. As Amir witnesses the rape, he sees that Hassan has resigned to his fate and
the look in his eyes show that it was the look of the lamb (The Kite Runner, 76). He accepts his fate
because he feels he is only a Hazara and he must do everything he can to please his Pashtun master.
Hassan continues to suffer and no longer puts up a fight, which only places more guilt onto Amir s
shoulders. Even after, Hassan never tells of what occurs to him with Assef, which is just another way
that shows his unwavering devotion as a Hazara. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is characterized with all the contrasting qualities that make up Amir. Amir s confrontation with
Assef is one of the most important scenes in the novel. It is important because it is where he finally
faces the demons he s held at bay and also where he finally confronts the role of his complicity as a
Pashtun over the ethnic discrimination of the Hazaras. Assef portrays his Afghanistan as a beautiful
mansion littered with garbage and says that someone has to take out that garbage (The Kite Runner,
284). As part of the Taliban, that is exactly what he s been doing and he lives for it and the suffering of
the Hazaras. As the roles reverse, under Assef s beating hands, Amir suffers the punishment that he
believed he should have received when he was younger for not defending Hassan. Amongst the pain
of the blows he is dealt, he feels a sense of redemption. He feels he has finally been given atonement
for the sins of his childhood. Even though Amir was to save Sohrab, ironically Hassan s own son is the
one to save him just like Hassan always did before, to give him that true redemption he so

Fashion In The 1920 s
Fashion. It can be interpreted in many different ways; fashion is a form of art, self expression, and a
way of defining someone. For many years, fashion has developed and changed drastically to appeal to
flocking consumers. Who knew that the clothing one wore could have so much value? In many cases,
women played a big role, from time periods before the 1800 s till now. Previously, women had been
considered only housewives, catering to needs of their children, cleaning, and the overall maintenance
of their homes. They were not able to pursue jobs outside their homes as this was unacceptable in
society. However, there is a perpetual pattern of the change in fashion as women gain more rights and
step out of their boundaries. In a sense, women became bold and fearless. The 1920 s along with the
1960 s are also periods that emphasize the changes in fashion due to major societal changes. One will

Whisking By Ehrenreich Summary
Ehrenreich discusses how the employers manage to disclose any information of pay to applicants
during interviews in this way: I have mentioned the way the hiring process seems designed, in some
cases, to prevent any discussion or even disclosure of wage whisking the applicant from interview to
orientation before the crass subject of money can be raised. Some employers go further; instead of
relying on the informal money taboo to keep workers from discussing and comparing wages, they
specifically enjoin workers from doing so. (207) Ehrenreich uses a dash instead of a comma or a
colon. Dashes aren t as formal as colons but provide more emphasis than commas. She could have
ended the sentence where the dash began but she decided to include the part where applicants are
rushed into orientation before the talk of pay comes up. This dash made everything stop short. The
author connects these two together to create more emphasis on the crooked hiring process. It shows
that she felt it necessary to bring the actual process to surface because it is often hidden. The true
intentions of employers had to be exposed to show that many workers go into work blind of their
actual pay. It reveals how unfair it is for applicants. It felt as though the author was suddenly stopped

is often a problem that arises during the hiring process so the employers hustle to avoid this

Sabinus s legion, when told to let go of their baggage, were departing from their standards

of loyalty to the general cause of the Roman army. Each soldier, in the heat of battle, thought only of

Popular Mechanics Raymond Carver
The short story Popular Mechanics , a short story by Raymond Carver tells the story of a husband and
a wife fighting for their child. A reader can also find that the story has symbolism in two major ways.
The first example of symbolism exists within the child. The child represents the downfall of love. The
second example of symbolism can be acquainted to the stages of grief. The reader having these views
greatly alters their perception of the story.
When observing the text the reader can come up with a simple summary. Two parents fight over a
child. In the event of the fight the child is put between the parents. Meaning the two parents now

tries to bargain with the husband over the baby s future home, whether it be hers, or his. This doesn t

goals that their nature calls for. Would we then be able to conclude that it is in Sisyphus s nature to
ram rocks up hills and finds fulfillment in his eternal labor. Fulfilment, only makes our lives
meaningful if it is a fitting fulfilment. The problem is that we may not always exactly know which
activities merit our love. In the case of Sisyphus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also stated that no action or project really gives life it s absolute meaning. In both cases, the
seemingly endless nightmare of eternal and pointless activity has now been overridden with the
scorching Hell of eternal absence. According to Taylor, humanity feels the deep need to have a
destiny, to fulfill an inner compulsion to be doing just what we were put here to do. This idea is what
makes life so meaningful. The meaning is in the passion of doing of things, not necessarily in what
that doing leads to. As Taylor stated, The meaning of life is from within us, it is not bestowed from
without, and it far exceeds in both beauty and permanence any heaven of which men have ever
dreamed or yearned for (484). The point of living is simply to be living whether that s doing what one
loves to do or simply getting through every day. While agreeing with Taylor, I must add that instead of
asking whether life has been good for a certain person, we should be asking whether it has been
admirable or if it has been something to proud of. To summarize, we give meaning to our lives by the
active engagement our wills have in our

time job. According to Pro and Con.Org, With 190 million US college students in 2013, and, many
with great debt, the debate continues today (Pro and Con .Org, 2015). This topic is a very debatable
topic with many aspects, facts, and statistics out there. College education is a controversial topic
because of the numerous pros and cons.
You earn more money a year with a college degree. Americans with a 4 year college degree make 98%
more an hour than people without a degree. According to David Leonhardt, The pay gap between
college graduates and everyone else has reached a record high (Leonhardt, 2014). This is one of the
main reasons why people want to go to college because it is said to earn more money. There are lots of
researchers, funding statistics on college graduates income to see if it s worth it. Right now, it is
definitely worth it to go to college for the earnings after. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tarumi Painting Analysis
What is Stephen s relationship with painting, and how does it shape his experience in Tarumi?
In Autumn of the novel, Stephen was thinking about King s last letter and how he understood that
recovering would allow him to relax and continue his passion for painting. He ended his letter hoping
I would use my rest and recuperation to perfect my art. King was one of the few friends I had who
always understood how much painting means to me (14). Stephen has a strong desire to paint and it
evolves throughout the story and allows him to express himself. Art shapes his experiences by
allowing to always have a hobby that can calm him down and communicate with others in different
ways.

An example would be Stephen s relationship with Keiko and how it ended abruptly because of the
demise of Keiko s brother at Hsuchowfu. Don t you see, nothing could ever come of our friendship
now. She looked behind her, checking again to see if anyone were watching us. My brother was killed
at Hsuchowfu (188). The war as well as the events that are taking place at the time of the novel
interfere with the lives of the characters and complicate their relationships.
What is the significance of the title, The Samurai s Garden?
The title signifies two of the key characters in the book, Matsu and Sachi. They are both strong in their
own ways. Wisdom and inner strength are attributes of true Samurai, and Matsu and Sachi have both
learned these virtues from experiences in their lives. Matsu once told me the bridge represented the
samurai s difficult path from this world to the afterlife. When you reach the top of the bridge, you can
see your way to paradise (43). Both characters have encountered hardships in their paths similar to the
difficulties of the samurai.

Egyptian Influence On The Minoans
Minoan art provides insight into the culture that flourished during the Bronze age in Crete during 1900
BCE to 1375 BCE. The art of the Minoans convey a society of joyous nature, being in touch with their
environment, and in awe of the order of the natural world. Above all, the artifacts reveal a society who
had developed a high degree of self respect and a keen eye for observing and adapting to their
physical environment. Art reached its pinnacle point during the late Minoan period. They created the
greatest legacy of the art; that art was used be used for art s sake, splendor.
The first Greek civilization was that of the Minoans on the island of Crete. The Minoans were heavily
influenced by two older Near Eastern civilizations, Mesopotamia and Egypt. Egyptian influence on
the Minoans was evident. Minoan architecture used columns such as Egyptian architecture did, except
the Minoans utilized wood as their material for columns. Minoan art also replicated Egyptian art by
showing people in profile. However, the Minoans added their own touches, making their figures much

There are scarce traces of history of the Old Palace period, c. 1900 1700 BCE of the Minoan people.
The term Minoans derived from Greek myths concerning the legendary king of Crete, Minos, who
ruled a vast sea empire. With most myths, there is a grain of truth to be taken away. The myth of
Theseus and the Minotaur where Athens had to send a yearly sacrifice of its children to Crete, reflects
Minoan rule and indicates that they partook in human sacrifice to the gods. The Knossos palace , later
known as the Labyrinth rooted from labrys by the greeks and became home of the legendary beast, the
Minotaur. The palace complex, built during the Old Palace Period, was enormous and confusing to
outsiders; it contained an array of doors leading to a mix of rooms, stairs, more corridors and dead

Analysis Of The Movie A Few Good Men Essay
Consequences of Obedience Late one night, two Marines, Lance Corporal Harold Dawson and Private
First Class Louden Downey carried out a code red on Private First Class William Santiago that
ultimately resulted in Santiago s death. In the film A Few Good Men, nominated for an Academy
Award for best picture and directed by Rob Reiner, Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee, investigates the crime
and develops his own opinion on whether the murder of Santiago was ethically stable in terms of
Dawson and Downey s mental attitude towards their actions. Meanwhile, Dawson and Downey have
difficulty accepting responsibility for their actions. They believe they are not at fault because they
were following orders from Colonel Nathan R. Jessep. Santiago s demise shows that always being
obedient can be a matter of life or death, and going against a superior command can possibly be the
ethically correct action. Jessup is an aggressive and forceful leader who does not like to be mocked or
questioned. Before Santiago s murder, Jessep expresses to Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Andrew
Markinson that transferring Santiago would be weak and not the American way (Reiner), Jessep then
threatens to kill Lieutenant Johnanthan Kendrick if Santiago s next report is not perfect. Although, he
is not the only leader who is unjust in this way. In an experiment, known as The Stanford Prison
Experiment, performed by Philip G. Zimbardo, a professor of psychology at Stanford University, the

Boynton Harbor Marina: Redeveloped and Open for Business
On Friday, March 31, 2017, the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)
celebrated a monumental day that represented thirteen long years of hard work and dedication, as the
Marina Open Space and Roadway Improvement project came to an end with a ceremonial ribbon
cutting ceremony at the Boynton Harbor Marina.
The project began in 2006, shortly after being approved by the CRA Board of Directors and Boynton
Beach Commissioners. The development project was headed by Michael Simon, who is now the CRA

The marina is sure to increase property value for the condos and bring fresh tenants to eastern
Boynton Beach.
The Boynton Harbor Marina serves as a landmark, bringing the community together, and reveals a
glimpse into the future of Boynton Beach. The marina redevelopment project has allowed marine
business tenants to showcase their vessels/operations to the public that enables them to gain a
customer base that may not have been attained in the past.
The completion of the CRA s Master Marina Redevelopment Plan is a fundamental step towards the
greater goal to redevelop downtown Boynton Beach. The Boynton Harbor Marina is home to a variety
of businesses, provides a destination hot spot for tourists; drives the local economy by bringing new
businesses to the city, and contributes to the growth of new jobs for residents.
Visitors to the marina are welcomed and encouraged to grab a delicious dish or creative cocktail from
the Two Georges Waterfront Restaurant or Banana Boat. Or visitors to the marina can snag a ride on
the water from one of the many fishing and boat charters that rent slips, jet ski, boats, scuba gear, or

High School Start Times
Beep Beep Beep Beep. It is 5:30 A.M, you were up late last night working on an atrocious math
assignment; and all you want is to roll over and ignore that you have to go catch the bus at 7:15 A.M.
Sometimes, you re lucky enough to get a ride or drive to school and get an extra five or ten minutes of
sleep, while still making it to first hour in time for the pledge of allegiance. Then, by the time second
hour rolls around it is only 8:30 A.M. This example shows school start times are affecting the
teenagers and preteenagers of our generation. These early school start times are beginning to create a
decrease in students grades, concentration levels, tardiness, absences, and the amount of sleep the
students are getting each night. For the first time, the federal Center for Disease Control and
Prevention is urging education policy makers to start middle and high schools later in the morning.
The idea is to improve the students sleep and concentration levels during school. As you can see, high
schools and middle schools should start later in the morning. Unfortunately, many students face the
struggle of staying awake in classes and being able to concentrate on what is being taught. The reason
for this is many teens are not getting enough sleep at night. The amount of sleep an average individual
should be getting each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The household code of 1 Peter 2:13 3:12 includes two portions addressed to the sub groups of slaves
(2:18 25) and wives of unbelieving husbands (3:1 6), bracketed on either side by instruction to the
community as a whole. In 1 Peter 3:6, the conclusion of the address to the wives, the author of the
letter references the Old Testament figure, Sarah. The author, who will also be referred to as Peter
hereafter, writes: Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him lord. You have become her daughters as
long as you do what is good and never let fears alarm you (1 Peter 3:6 NRSV). This paper will
consider how the reference to Sarah functions within the immediate context of the author s address to
women, the larger household code which includes an

Differences In America-Personal Narrative
There are seven continents, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, Asia, Africa and
Australia. Yet I ve only been to one continent, one town, and I only have one story to tell and it is
about birthday with no friends. Maybe it will be different in America? Maybe I will be accepted in
America, I mean it has to be an adventure, a whole new continent with a whole new set of adventure.
My father starts to pack our outmoded clothing, and vacant dog cage. I had a flashback to when I was
five, and vibrant yellow and orange leaves were gracefully falling to the cold hard ground. While my

As I reached down to grab my things from under the seat, I realized that a gore on my skirt had a giant
stain from my ranch dressing on it. Just great I thought to myself. As we exited the plane we were
jostled and thrown around by the other passengers who seemed to be in a rush, and they were very
discord. Once we have made it to baggage claim, we got our bags and headed for our taxi that would
take us to our brand new home. When we were walking towards our car, I saw a beautiful vista, and it
almost made me forget I had a giant stain on my beautiful skirt. When we pulled into our new
driveway, I was transfixed by the pile of junk that laid in front of my grandma s penury looking house.
Once we entered we saw a note taped to the distorted fridge it said I Have decided to move to Hawaii,
but have fun in your new house . I couldn t believe her, we had traveled all of this way to help her and
now she just picked up her things and left. My thoughts were interrupted by my mother who told me
we might as well leave. As we left the house I grabbed a rather sharp and gold piece of metal out of
the pile of junk because it was the exact opposite of me. It was sparkly I was dull, it was beautiful, and

Native American And Native Americans
Considering historical evidence, the notion: Native Americans were not the first inhabitant of America
is a complete false. For centuries, history kept accurate and vivid account of the first set of people who
domiciled the western hemisphere. Judging by that record and evidence, below are the first set of
Native American people who inhabited the western hemisphere, including the new America before the
arrival of another human race... The Iroquois: The Iroquois of Native Americans were one of the tribes
that lived in America before other people came. Based on historical evidence, it is believed that the
Native Americans came from Asia way back during the Ice Age through a land bridge of the Bering
Strait. When the Europeans first set foot in America, there were about 10 million Native Americans
living in America, North of Mexico. Native Americans had all separated and made their own tribes.
Some of the many Native American tribes that still exist are those of the Iroquoian tribes. Which make
up Seneca, Cayuga, Inondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora; these groups eventually became
known as the Iroquois Confederacy. The Iroquois was often known for peace and power; but
sometimes, they also like to refer to themselves as the Haudenosaunee . Their name was given to them
by their enemies, the Algonquin, who called them the Iroqu rattlesnakes. When the French arrived,
they added ois to their name and became Iroquois. They were also known as the Six Nations,

  • 2. The Power of the Moral Ideal in The Fountainhead Essay The Power of the Moral Ideal in The Fountainhead The Fountainhead is a novel of gigantic proportions. It deals with great talent and great mediocrity, with great love and great hatred, with great ambition and equally great complacence. It unpretentiously chooses to steer clear of the much hyped common man, with his commonplace dreams and aspirations. The theme of The Fountainhead can be summarized in the famous line by the author man s ego is the fountainhead of human progress . The novel exalts egotism, which is generally looked upon in our world with great dislike. The protagonist, Howard Roark, is a man used by the author to exemplify this philosophy. He believes that man alone has power over himself He does not believe in God or in destiny, simple because he doesn t need to. In order to be truly great a man must be physically, mentally and spiritually be involved in his work, the way Roark was. Roark treats his work with the respect and reverence that other men lavish over God. To him, insincerity towards one s work is the worst blasphemy possible. This is the line of thought that runs throughout the novel. The hallmark of Roark is work is his complete irreverence for all precedents, traditions and conventions. His ideas are too revolutionary to be accepted, but he refuses, at any point of time to compromise with his ideals, no matter what his compulsions may be. He is a man of such immense integrity, that he would rather break stones in a quarry than make a substandard building. which is what the world demands of him. The reason why some people seek to destroy Howard Roark is that his very presence evokes an unreasonable fear in their hearts. • 3. Arguments Against Abortion Introduction Although, currently legalized, abortion continues to be a burdening ethical issue in America. From 1973 to 2011 approximately 53 million legal abortions were performed in the United States (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Choice supporters hail an abortion is a woman s choice and a protected personal right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). However, Pro Life supporters contend that a human life begins at the very moment of conception and thus an abortion is the immoral killing of an innocent human being (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Thus, there are various arguments to be considered on both sides. Pro Choice Many contend that in attempting to delegalized abortions the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pro Life supporters insist that a child is considered a human being at the very moment of conception. Thus, abortion is murder and is unethical because the right to live was stripped from the child. A child can be aborted up to 24 weeks of life and in some states later (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Furthermore, a fetus does feel pain during the abortion procedure because by eight weeks the most primitive response to pain, the spinal reflex, is developed (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Moreover, the psychological affects of an abortion can be overwhelming such as increased depression and anxiety (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). A 2002 peer reviewed study published by the Southern Medical Journal... found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Life supporters believe women must not be able to use an abortion as a means of contraception. If one becomes pregnant, one must be responsible for the child they have brought to the world. Thousands of families desire to adopt children, thus abortion significantly reduces the number of adoptable babies (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Lastly, abortion promotes a culture in which human life is disposable and it is acceptable to rid of a life that inconveniences you (Procon.org, 2015, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates describes this for Connie. Connie is a fifteen year old girl who wants to be older then the age she is now. She dresses one way at home and another out with her friends. The way older men look at her and treat her is interesting to her. She ends up meeting somebody that were some trouble and, by the end, things are not going to turn out so well. Everyone that Connie hangs out with wants to act a certain way and age to get attention. Things in Connie s life makes her the way she is to the point that she does not care about anything. One of the reasons Connie acts the way she wants is because of her family. She is an outcast of the family, her mother cannot stand her, her sister can do no wrong, and her father works all the time so he does not matter. The reason Connie and her mother do not get along is because the mother loves the sister June more. June is more of the innocent child where she does as the parents say. June is not as pretty as Connie, so she has no other choice then to do whatever her parents tell her to do. Connie is like the pretty younger sister that wants to rebel and do her own thing because she can. Connie is more of the promiscuous type that hangs out with the bad crowd and is always into trouble. CNN wrote an article on the average cost of raising a child for 18 years, High income families who live in the urban Northeast, for example, are projected to spend nearly $455,000 to raise their child to the age of 18, while low income rural families will spend much less, an estimated $145,500, according to the report (Hicken). Lets go with the lowest number, $145,000, and divide that by 18 years; roughly $8,000 is spent to care for a child per year in a low income household. On average, 402,000 children are in the foster care, and in 2013, over 23,000 aged out of the system ( Children s Rights 1). Include the concepts of elasticity, utility, costs, and market structure to explain the prices charged by fast food retailers. Firms within the fast food industry fall under the market structure of perfect competition. Market structure is a classification system for the key traits of a market. The characteristics of perfect competition include: large number of buyers and sellers, easy entry to and exit from the market, homogeneous products, and the firm is the price taker. Many fast food franchises fit all or most of these characteristics. Competition within the industry as well as market supply and demand conditions set the price of products sold. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the current prices, firms may sell as much product as they want, thereby maximizing profits. This industry has a very high utility value. Utility is a measure of satisfaction or pleasure that is obtained from consuming a good or service. If consumers feel as if they get a good meal, at a good price, then they re satisfied. This customer satisfaction coupled with relatively low prices keeps the industry profitable. Another quality of perfect competition that may be overlooked, but is vital to this industry is the ease of entry into the market. Start up franchises within this market structure can begin operating with relatively low initial investments (compared to other industries). This is not the case where monopolies are concerned. There are numerous barriers to entry into monopolistic market structures, capital being one of the most prominent barriers. If a new franchise an offer the consumer a quality product at a reduced price, then the chances of success are greatly increased. For example, Chanello s and Little Caesar s offer discounted pizza prices, and maintain the same quality as other pizza chains. Species continue to be made to live side by side to humans and breathe the exact same air that they do. • 28. Essay on The American Revolution and the Formation of Bolivia  Introduction The American Revolution did much more than any of our founding fathers had ever imagined, it started a movement that would threaten the very roots of colonialism across the globe. Setting an example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the United States inspired regions such as Latin America to fight for their rights and liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was Upper Peru, which would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the war, the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major battles, but even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of the nation. The common folk began to trust his words, as he talked about fighting for the resources that were theirs, ideals taken directly from the American Revolution itself. The most prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which led to the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power from the Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take shape, Latin Nations such as Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian liberators. Surprisingly, America didn t live up to its reputation, having no negative impact on this revolution. Normally, America had been notorious for backing up the dictators or colonial powers and suppressing the Latin liberators. Proverbs 24:3, 4 Education is vital in life. If we did not have education, no one would be able to do anything challenging with his or her minds, unless trained by experience. This is what Plato knew thousands of years ago. He knew education produced a balance and harmony of character. This education model is not seen in public education, except in the classical model, which borrowed many of his concepts. Thus, he says, We shall persuade mothers and nurses to tell our chosen stories to their children and by means of them to mold their minds and characters, which are more important then their bodies. Plato goes on from the content to form. He calls poetry direct speech because the poet or narrator puts himself in the position of the character speaking, in thinking his thoughts and feeling his feelings. Plato firmly objects to this method. In Greek culture, it was the norm for a Greek student, when reciting Homer, to throw himself into the story, delivering the speeches with the tones and jesters of an actor. In this way, Plato was preoccupied with the mortal and theological aspects of poets because from them the ordinary Greek man was expected to acquire his moral and theological notions. Plato solves this dilemma by saying, If they (children) do take part in dramatic or other presentations, they must from their earliest years act the part only of characters suitable to them men of courage, self control, piety, freedom of spirit and similar qualities. Plato points out that music, of the Greek culture represents the life of the listener. He states that music is the basis used primarily in the teaching of harmony and discipline. Susan loved her husband, and did everything that he asked. Susan was the perfect housewife that did everything she was asked. She never fought or yelled, even when her husband cheated on her. The downside to being the perfect woman is you are not yourself. She held everything in to the point where she lost who she was. She became a robot to society. Susan thought that by allowing her husband to do whatever he wanted, she would find her own happiness. She lost herself when she held in all of her feelings. Susan killed herself because she was miserable, and nobody noticed. The idea of feminism in this story is that a perfect woman to society is a miserable woman. Society believed through the ages that women were to be seen, and not heard. Clean, cook, and take care of the children. Those were the tasks assigned to women, and to stray from that path was dishonorable. For many years, fashion has developed and changed drastically to appeal to flocking consumers. Who knew that the clothing one wore could have so much value? In many cases, women played a big role, from time periods before the 1800 s till now. Some employers go further; instead of relying on the informal money taboo to keep workers from discussing and comparing wages, they specifically enjoin workers from doing so. She could have ended the sentence where the dash began but she decided to include the part where applicants are rushed into orientation before the talk of pay comes up. This dash made everything stop short. The author connects these two together to create more emphasis on the crooked hiring process. It shows that she felt it necessary to bring the actual process to surface because it is often hidden. • 45. High School Start Times Beep Beep Beep Beep. It is 5:30 A.M, you were up late last night working on an atrocious math assignment; and all you want is to roll over and ignore that you have to go catch the bus at 7:15 A.M. Sometimes, you re lucky enough to get a ride or drive to school and get an extra five or ten minutes of sleep, while still making it to first hour in time for the pledge of allegiance. Then, by the time second hour rolls around it is only 8:30 A.M. This example shows school start times are affecting the teenagers and preteenagers of our generation. These early school start times are beginning to create a decrease in students grades, concentration levels, tardiness, absences, and the amount of sleep the students are getting each night. For the first time, the federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention is urging education policy makers to start middle and high schools later in the morning. The idea is to improve the students sleep and concentration levels during school. As you can see, high schools and middle schools should start later in the morning. Unfortunately, many students face the struggle of staying awake in classes and being able to concentrate on what is being taught. The reason for this is many teens are not getting enough sleep at night. The amount of sleep an average individual should be getting each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Household Code Of 1 Peter 2 Summary The household code of 1 Peter 2:13 3:12 includes two portions addressed to the sub groups of slaves (2:18 25) and wives of unbelieving husbands (3:1 6), bracketed on either side by instruction to the community as a whole. In 1 Peter 3:6, the conclusion of the address to the wives, the author of the letter references the Old Testament figure, Sarah. The author, who will also be referred to as Peter hereafter, writes: Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him lord. You have become her daughters as long as you do what is good and never let fears alarm you (1 Peter 3:6 NRSV). This paper will consider how the reference to Sarah functions within the immediate context of the author s address to women, the larger household code which includes an ... • 47. Differences In America-Personal Narrative There are seven continents, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Yet I ve only been to one continent, one town, and I only have one story to tell and it is about birthday with no friends. Maybe it will be different in America? Maybe I will be accepted in America, I mean it has to be an adventure, a whole new continent with a whole new set of adventure. My father starts to pack our outmoded clothing, and vacant dog cage. I had a flashback to when I was five, and vibrant yellow and orange leaves were gracefully falling to the cold hard ground. While my rangy dog ,spots, had lumbered through the pile of leaves that my father had racked into a pile, meanwhile my mother was writing one of her oh so interesting ... Just great I thought to myself. As we exited the plane we were jostled and thrown around by the other passengers who seemed to be in a rush, and they were very discord. Once we have made it to baggage claim, we got our bags and headed for our taxi that would take us to our brand new home. When we were walking towards our car, I saw a beautiful vista, and it almost made me forget I had a giant stain on my beautiful skirt. When we pulled into our new driveway, I was transfixed by the pile of junk that laid in front of my grandma s penury looking house. Once we entered we saw a note taped to the distorted fridge it said I Have decided to move to Hawaii, but have fun in your new house . I couldn t believe her, we had traveled all of this way to help her and now she just picked up her things and left. My thoughts were interrupted by my mother who told me we might as well leave. As we left the house I grabbed a rather sharp and gold piece of metal out of the pile of junk because it was the exact opposite of me. It was sparkly I was dull, it was beautiful, and I was ... • 48. Native American And Native Americans Considering historical evidence, the notion: Native Americans were not the first inhabitant of America is a complete false. For centuries, history kept accurate and vivid account of the first set of people who domiciled the western hemisphere. Judging by that record and evidence, below are the first set of Native American people who inhabited the western hemisphere, including the new America before the arrival of another human race... The Iroquois: The Iroquois of Native Americans were one of the tribes that lived in America before other people came. Based on historical evidence, it is believed that the Native Americans came from Asia way back during the Ice Age through a land bridge of the Bering Strait. When the Europeans first set foot in America, there were about 10 million Native Americans living in America, North of Mexico. Native Americans had all separated and made their own tribes. Some of the many Native American tribes that still exist are those of the Iroquoian tribes. Which make up Seneca, Cayuga, Inondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora; these groups eventually became known as the Iroquois Confederacy. The Iroquois was often known for peace and power; but sometimes, they also like to refer to themselves as the Haudenosaunee . Their name was given to them by their enemies, the Algonquin, who called them the Iroqu rattlesnakes. When the French arrived, they added ois to their name and became Iroquois. They were also known as the Six Nations, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
