Essays Format
Composing an essay on the subject of "Essays Format" presents a unique challenge that extends
beyond the typical writing task. The difficulty lies in the paradoxical nature of the topic itself
– dissecting the format of an essay requires a delicate balance between adhering to
established norms and fostering creativity.
On one hand, there is the need to understand and implement the structural elements that define a
well-crafted essay. This involves navigating through the intricacies of introduction, body
paragraphs, and conclusion, while ensuring coherence and logical flow. On the other hand, the
challenge arises in avoiding the pitfall of formulaic writing. Striking the right balance between
adherence to structure and the injection of original thought is akin to walking a tightrope.
Furthermore, the evolving landscape of academic writing adds another layer of complexity.
Different disciplines and institutions may have specific guidelines and preferences regarding
essay formats, citation styles, and overall presentation. Staying abreast of these nuances is
crucial, and the writer must be adept at tailoring their approach to meet diverse requirements.
In the process of crafting an essay on essays format, one is compelled to introspect about their
own writing habits and biases. It necessitates a critical evaluation of personal preferences and
prejudices towards certain formats. This self-awareness adds an introspective dimension to the
task, making it both challenging and enlightening.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Essays Format" is a nuanced task that demands a
fine balance between conformity and innovation. It involves navigating through established
structures while embracing the evolving landscape of academic writing. It prompts the writer to

The Case Roe V. Wade Essay
Since the 1960s, the fight to receive accessible and affordable abortions has been a
largely controversial issue in the United States. The case Roe v. Wade was the climax
of that fight, for the Court held that... only a pregnant woman and her doctor have the
legal right to make the decision about an abortion( History of Abortion ). Although
Roe v. Wadeultimately made abortions legal in the States, there are still setbacks for
affordable and accessible abortions today, and many of these conflicts may be
directly traced to state by state determination of abortion laws.
In today s society, the rate of teen pregnancy is rapidly decreasing. This may be
attributed to decrease in costs of contraception, costs and availability for abortion,
and better sex education over time. In 2014, a total of 249,078 babies were born to
women aged 15 19 years, for a birth rate of 24.2 per 1,000 women in this age
group. This is another historic low for U.S. teens and a drop of 9% from 2013.
Birth rates fell 11% for women aged 15 17 years and 7% for women aged 18 19
years ( About Teen Pregnancy ). Abortion is a highly debated topic today, for many
wonder if the woman should have the right to choose. Those who choose to get an
abortion are practically putting themselves on trial in today s society. To understand
why this is so, one must look at both sides of the abortion issue, and compare the
facts. Abortion is an extremely controversial issue for many, and polarized, or split,
into pro life
Famine Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer Summary
The article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality by Peter Singer highlights the death
and suffering that occurred in East Bengal in 1971 due to lack of food, shelter, and
medical care (Singer 231). The author points out that poverty, civil war, and a
cyclone all combined to make the situation worse for about nine million people
inhabiting the area at the time, but if the richer nations came in and provided
assistance, further suffering would have been alleviated. This essay provides an
argument as to why famine victims should be given aid and explains how doing so
affects our understanding of the distinction between charity and duty. It also offers a
critique of Singer s argument based on John Arthur s idea of just deserts from his
article entitled Famine relief and the Ideal MoralCode.
Why we should aid famine victims Singer s main argument in Famine, Affluence, and
Morality, is that the manner in which we conduct ourselves morally needs to
change. The author holds that if it is within our power to prevent a bad event from
taking place without sacrificing anything else of moral importance, or without
causing something equally bad to happen, then we are morally obligated to react
and prevent it (Singer 231). According to him, we all have the power and the means
to prevent bad situations from affecting people across the world no matter how
helpless we feel. Singer provides an example where a person is placed in a situation
where they can prevent something bad from happening
Is Technology A Distraction Research Paper
Is Technology a Distraction? In today s world, electronic devices are becoming
increasingly conventional and accessible. With the advancement of technology, the
people advance along with it by cultivating and using technology. It is not surprising
that laptops, phones, tablets, and televisions are common in this era. Consequently,
people may engross themselves in these appliances, distracting themselves from
other tasks such as school or work. Technology takes residence in schools, offices,
and homes, making it hard to escape the grasps of it. It is convenient, therefore, it
will have use. Thus, it can lead to problems such as losing quality time on studying,
losing focus, and texting while driving. Technology is essential in today s... Show

Distractions are extremely dangerous to drivers. Accidents and crashes may occur.
It s even worse when gadgets are right at people s fingertips while driving.
According to The National Safety Council, cell phone use while driving leads to
1.6 million crashes each year. (edgarsyndar.com). A driver shifts focus from
driving to the screen of an electronic device. For the whole duration a driver s
attention is on a phone, the car is still moving. Replying to a text takes away about
5 seconds of a driver s attention, which at 55 mph, that s enough time to travel the
length of a football field. (edgarsyndar.com). For a whole length of a football field,
the driver is not as aware of his or her surroundings. No wonder why texting while
driving is such a common cause of car accidents. The accessibility of electronic
devices makes it more convenient and easy to obtain one and thus, the device can be a

Title Every four years the world goes into a clamor for the Olympic Games, and
cities aggressively bid for the right to host these events. Cities literally fight for the
right to hold these games and spend exorbitant amounts of money in the hopes of
bringing the worlds Olympiad s to their municipality. But, is the prestige of being the
host worth it for the host city? It is becoming more apparent that these endeavors are
detrimental to the economy, if you look at the five most recent summer Olympics;
Rio de Janeiro, London, Beijing, Athens, and Sydney. Many of these cities apply
with the hopes of a positive long term impact, many in recent times to be severely
disappointed. Rio won it s Olympic bid in 2009, after several years of solid GDP
growth and was one of the most dynamic emerging economies at the time. The
summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro were plagued by controversy even before the
games started, with concerns over the outbreak of the Zika virus as well as the
concerns about the water in the area (Rapoza). After Brazil announced that it would
host the 2016 Olympics it has invested twelve billion dollars in infrastructure alone
between 2009 2015, something that had to be developed to support the influx of
tourists and athletes (Rapoza). This investment in the infrastructure and public
spending increased the debt of Rio by 17%, and the state received a bailout from the
government in June. In the investment phase there was
Main Roles Of Housekeeping
THE ROLE THAT HOUSEKEEPING PLAYS IN THE OPERATIONS AND
MANAGEMENT OF HOTELS.
If we need to review the role that housekeeping plays in the operations and
management of hotel. Firstly we have to define what is it Housekeeping in general.
House Keeping is a heart of the hotel management industry. Hotels, motels, and inns
around the world can succeed without ballrooms, meeting rooms, swimming pools, or
even restaurants. But the one thing every successful lodging establishment must
have, regardless of it s size, location, or industry segment, is clean rooms. Room sales
generally drive 70 percent or more of the revenues generated by lodging
establishments. Without a well managed housekeeping department, there would be
no rooms to sell (Martin R. J.,1998) Each department ... Show more content on

Housekeeping department plays essential role for front office and by description
of some operations we can understand principle of this work in life. Guestrooms in
lodging properties are sold by the front office. The front office desk must know at
every given moment what rooms have been cleaned and are available for the
guests. Housekeeping must provide the front desk with a listing of rooms that are
ready for occupancy so guests can be checked in. In the communication between
two departments is poor or breaks down, delays in guest check in will occur , or
people will be checked into rooms that are thought to be ready but that in fact are
occupied or not ready. If this happens often, the hotel s reputation will suffer.
Usually work day begins very early in the morning, when the front desk provides
the housekeeping department with a report called the night ckerk s room report. The
main idea of this report is to inform all workers about the status of all guestrooms in
the property as it appears on the front desk
GENESIS AND ANCIENT MYTHS OF THE NEAR EAST
When one approaches the biblical text, it is important to explore the cultural context
in which the text occurs. With regard to the Book of Genesis, it is important to
examine the writing with other contemporary works of similar geography and
topics. The people of ancient Mesopotamia, where the oldest civilizations originated,
produced a number of stories of creation and natural occurrences. It is important to
note that many of the stories of the Sumerians, Akkadians and Hebrews began as
oral traditions as the events they depict predate writing, so it is difficult to date these
works on the basis of when these prehistoric myths were initiated. Comparison to
writings contemporary to the people of Israel, can offer a deeper understanding of...

Just as there existed beings outside of creation in the Enuma Elish, the Hebrew God
was present prior to the formation of the world. As the universe becomes defined in
the following stages, the development described in each of the stories show a
resemblance in events and the order in which they occurred. It is important to note
that light existed, in both stories, independent of celestial bodies. Next, in same
order, the sky and ground are created, followed by luminaries or the sun, moon and
stars. The fact that the sequence of the creation stories is nearly identical can hardly
be accidental according to some scholars. Subsequently, man is created with elements
of divinity, given the task of working the soil . At the conclusion of each creation
story, the deities rest from their work. While it is necessary to refrain from
exaggerating the influence found in these similarities, it is equally essential to remain
open to the understanding that these works emerged within a similar conceptual
world .
Though many similarities in the creation stories of Genesis and the Enuma Elish, the
divergences are much more far reaching and significant . Unlike the gods of depicted
in the Enuma Elish who were coexistent and coeternal with the comic matter , the
Hebrew God is transcendent and separate from the substance of the cosmos, having
Himself created it. While the Hebrew God exists in eternity past,
Health And Social Determinants Of Health
One of the most influential determinants of health, is early childhood development
due to it s deep roots in childhood experience that shapes the physical and mental
health of the individual as an adult. A child that starts off their lives on the right
path with parent(s) that have adequate and well paying jobs who will provide the
basic needs essential for development will inevitably will do well and a have greater
chance of being healthy. Versus a child who is born in poverty and must live in such
rough environments resulting from their parents inability and lack of opportunity for
employment, thus causing stress for day to day survival. Everyday living factors
have consequences on children, which can have a direct and indirect effect to their
healththrough their parent(s). In other words, the social determinants od health
experienced by the patients have a huge influence on the health on their child s
childhoodexperience. Although, there are many factors that go into the success and
health of a child such as nutrition, physical environment, and genetics characteristics,

according to Dennis Raphael, income is related to health outcomes such as infant
mortality, readiness to learn, low birthweights, reoccurring childhood injuries, and
numerous other health conditions derived from mental and social problems. In
addition, income determines the quality or whether children receive early childhood
programs, also a maker for multiple life circumstances that can be linked back to the
quality of the children s diet, clothing, housing environment, and learning
opportunities in educational and recreational settings. Therefore, early childhood
development and income go hand in hand, without one, the other will suffer resulting
in a lifetime of poor health outcomes and lack of opportunities for
Similarities Between Animal Farm And Animal Farm
Two visions; Different Results
In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm he asserts that following blindly , will lead
to government abuse and corruption. Orwell s assertion brings life to the philosophy
that a utopian atmosphere can never exist. Orwell s purpose is to deliver the idea of
communism not being successful and to make the audience reading not want to get
into communism. George Orwell informs the young audience of the danger with
communism. Orwell was a very cynical individual when it came to writing Animal
Farm . There were many similarities and differences between Martin Luther King Jr.
and the character, Old Major in Animal Farm. One similar political equality
between the two figures is they both had a vision or dream of inspiring the masses
of people to dream of a better future. between two groups of people. Despite having
so many similarities between the two there are also several differences as well.
Such as, the animals had different rights to fight for, for example, the animals were
being overworked by Mr. Jones and they were not receiving enough food. On the
other side, the blacks, during the Martin Luther King Jr. time period, were not able to
go in the same bathroom as whites. The Blacks had restrictions to their rights in the
idea of not being able to pursue certain circumstances as the whites did.
The historical figure Martin Luther King Jr. had many similarities and differences
with the character in Animal Farm, Old Major. Both individuals had visions of
rebellion but Martin Luther had the mentality of peaceful rebellion, while olf
major wanted violence. The significant events between Martin Luther King Jr. and
Old Major was the Beasts of England speech and the I have a Dream speech. Old
Major used Beasts of England to show the animals his vision or dream for the
farm. Also, Martin Luther King Jr. used I have a Dream to bring light to the idea
of black rights. Old Major and Martin Luther King Jr. both had both a goal in their
mind for what they want there atmosphere to be. In Animal Farm, the speech Beasts
of England was used and it said Beasts of England, Beasts of England, Beasts of
every land and clime, hearken to my joyful tidings (orwell 12) The quotes from the

Although qualitative analysis is used for physical areas, with the usage to tackle non
financial information, it can be widely useful in business and finance fields.(kesh and
Raja 2005, 167) The qualitative analysis of the company level is concerned with
products and services, competitive advantage, management efficiency, corporate
culture. Advanced products can get increasing cash inflows and improve company
value (Carter and Demissew 2008, 63) because booming demand for products and
services can lead to a high reinvestment rate of the company, this creates additional
wealth.( Madden 2007, 125) Competitive advantage can includes producing capacity
and the efficiency of a company s design and cost controlling better than the industry
s competitors. Generating a competitive advantage for a company will creates
stakeholder value. (Vilanova, Lozano and Arenas 2009, 63) The improvement of
management efficiency can lower operating costs and company culture can enhance
corporate image, leading to improvement of company value.
Quantitative factors
The quantitative factors in fundamental analysis are based on a deep understanding of
financial reports which is the process of identifying opportunities and threats from the
company, so investors must be concerned with the balance sheet, cash flow statement
and income statement analysis. Financial statements consist of all important
historical information about the company s operation management during a specific
time period

the Prince, Jonathan the Powerful one, Austin the Talented one and Liam who s

one out of the two at least that s what I heard. Unlike Nicolas, I am seen as a bad girl

Project Management
A project is a temporary endeavour to produce a unique product, service, or result
(PMI 2004). Project management (PM) techniques were originally developed for
waterfall type projects like building construction.
PM focuses on planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling the complex
interdependencies among subtasks.
PM techniques are particularly relevant when considering the entire project in which
software development is embedded, which includes other activities such as
documentation, training, hardware, etc.

Gantt charts can also show summary activities (see

The dependencies make slack clear (see Siding entry).

Resources
All these charts assume infinite resources things that can logically happen in
parallel, are assumed to happen in parallel. In reality, there are limited resources, so
there are dependencies not shown in the charts.
E.g. if only one person is available to work on the shed project, the siding and
roofing tasks must be done in serial, due to the resource constraint.

Crashing/Fast tracking
If the critical path is still not fast enough, it s possible to shorten the duration by
changing some assumptions. E.g.:
Crashing: Change the duration of some critical task, e.g., if it is possible to
parallelize it by assigning more people to it.
Fast tracking: Allow tasks to be done in parallel by changing the logic in the network
diagram.
If tasks can be parallelized (as in building construction) these allow total duration to
be greatly reduced.

Oscar Wilde Poetry Analysis
Analyzing a Poet: Oscar Wilde
Poems have a special meaning to the people who read them and the poet
themselves even Oscar Wilde, a poet, author and play writer. Oscar Wilde was born
on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. His parents were Jane and
William Wilde and was also the second child of three kids. He was fluent French and
German and his parents were successful people. Wilde wrote books, plays, poetry but
out of all of them his plays are the most known. I am going to analyze Oscar Wilde
because his poems have imagery and metaphors that caught my eye and just how it
was written I really loved.
At a young age, Wilde s mother would read poetry that she wrote to him and would
make it a habit to read it to him. Wilde was introduced to poetry at a young age. He
was taught at home until nine where he learned how to speak French and German
like I said earlier. His little sister Isola died at age nine from meningitis which is
inflammation of the brain and also spinal cord membranes and his poem Requiescat
was made in her memory. Wilde was accepted into the college Trinity College from
1871 to 1874 with his older brother, Willie. His tutor gave him the interest in Greek
literature. After that he attended another college called, Magdalen.
Death is very hard on the people who are dying and those around them, his poem
Requiescat is inspired by the sad death of his sister as I spoke about earlier. It is
very powerful and meaningful because it talks about her death and how sad and
painful it is for others afterwards. First off, in stanza three it says Lily like, white as
snow, She hardly knew She was a woman, so Sweetly she grew. This stanza is
stating that his sister, Isola was pure and innocent. The phrase white as snow
means pure. Secondly, in stanza four it says Coffin board, heavy stone, Lie on her
breast, I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. In my opinion, heavy stone is her grave
and lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone means his heart is with her or it can even
mean distressed heart because i found out that vex means distress. Lastly, in stanza
five it says Peace, peace, she cannot hear, Lyre or sonnet, All my life s buried here,
Heap earth upon it.

Themes Of Love In La Belle Dame Sans Merci
How do different Poets express different attitudes to Romantic Marriage in La Belle
Dame sans Merci , My Last Duchess and Sonnet 116
By: David Hu
The theme and idea of the unforgiving tides of love is presented in a range of ways
throughout the poems in the anthology. The poets all choose to build their stories
around this subject while each choose to approach this from different perspectives
and stances. La Belle Dame sans Merci focuses on the idea of unreciprocated love;
reflecting William Keat s personal feud against the pains of love. Balance between
the desires and sacrifices of love becomes one of the central ways Keats tries to
deliver his message whereas Robert Browning s My Last Duchess is associated with
the attitude and theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ballad adopts a unique stanza structure that shortens the last line of every
quatrain which creates an abrupt change in rhythm, helping keep the reader
focused. The result is the first three lines of every quatrain being written in Iambic
tetrameter in which a line contains four feet, with the stress falling upon the first
syllable in each pair as opposed to the Iambic dimeter in the fourth line which
contains two feet with the stress falling upon the first syllable in each pair for
instance, Fast withereth too. , in line 12 . This is intended to help enhance the flow
of the poem by forcing the reader to conform to the rhythm. The differentiation in
the fourth line is used by Keats to create a feeling of emptiness and suspense. This
is used by Keats to emphasize the lovesick and sore feelings of the knight to the
reader. In contrast, Robert Browning s My Last Duchess is written in the form of a
monologue through Iambic Pentameter. The monologue is one entity divided only by
the rhyming couplets. However, the flow and rhyme is partially sacrificed because of
there is so much enjambment. Browning uses this format in order to emphasize the
themes presented. For instance in line 31, Or blush, at least. She thanked men good!
but thanked , where but thanked is a continuation of the phrase she thanked men good
. Browning uses this format in My Last Duchess

and that is something we should appreciate. Here is a few ways we can promote

The Interactions between Short Term Memory and Long Term Memory: What is the
Messaging Protocol?
1.Introduction
Computers store data in memory, and simulate human memory when they achieve
this. It might be easy to predict the mechanism of how computer memory works, but
the function of human memory is much more sophisticated. Basically, the role of
memory is to retain information, store them and retrieve when it is necessary.
According to Bunuel (1984), You have to begin to lose your memory, if only in bits
and pieces, to realize that memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is
no life at all. Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action.
Without it, we are nothing (pp.4 5). This simply illustrates the ... Show more content

The first one is the episodic memory which is related to personal experiences while
the second one is the semantic memory which is knowledge of words, concepts,
symbols and objects. Surprisingly, cognitive researchers believe that short term
memory is a reflection of long term memory. However, others argue that these two
types of memory function differently. Thus, the link between STM and LTM is still a
controversial issue. Since memory has been of interest to psycholinguists and
researchers, many tend to decode the message passing between these two major
components of memory.
Is there a messaging protocol that may link both ? To what extent each one can affect
the other?
This paper analyzes the studies that have been conducted to look at the underlying
relationship between STM and LTM through the demonstration of a body of research
conducted in this field.
2.Retrieving from Short Term Memory Information is stored in STM for a short
period of time, and it is retrieved from there. Of course, there are processes that
occur during such. There is a task introduced by Sternberg (2004) to determine the
recall mechanism. In this task, a set of seven items is presented one at a time, and
the participants go over a memory test item which is called a probe. The participants
must decide whether this probe is on the set or not.

not to think of it as such. Gemix Slot Machines is unique for it mixes into the
arcade game category while many still consider it a slots type of game. With this, it
seems to be a popular arcade/slot machine hybrid game due to its addictive gameplay,
attractive interface, and of course, its casino like energy and concept. We can say
that it s reminiscent of the beloved Candy Crush Saga mobile game because of
Gemix s matching gems mechanic and its associated features.
Before we get into how Gemix is played, let s first discuss how the game looks when
you start to play it. Play N Go makes efforts to make sure their games look and play
in a similar fashion compared to their other well known mobile games, and while
there s not too much to be in awe about in terms of looks for Gemix, it s cleaner
than most related games. Gemix does just have gems on the screen and nothing else
that special, but it looks pretty sufficient for its game category so you won t be
disappointed.
When you first play the game, Gemix looks like any other slot machine game in the
market with its seven reels, but these reels don t function like you think they would.
As you play the game on a 7x7 grid, the grid shuffles when you press the start
button, just like on a slot machine. When you make a combination of five or more of
the same neighboring symbols, these symbols will then disappear followed by the
A Letter To A Speech For The November 7th General
Election...
Hello Friends and Neighbors,
I m writing to let you know that, after a short break, I m about to hit the campaign
trail again. I am excited to get out and meet and talk to as many Ward 3 residents as
possible over the next few months leading up to the November 7th General Election.
I am hoping to meet many new faces as well as re connect with those whom I had
the pleasure to meet and talk to prior to the Primary in May.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank those of you who supported me in the
Primary election. I was elated, yet humbled to gain the victory and I could not have
done it without the support and direct efforts of many amazing people. To those of
you who voted for me, thank you very much for your confidence in me ... Show more

This topic has been discussed in a number of City Council meetings that I have
attended. Most rewardingly, I have attended meetings of a small, but growing group
of concerned citizens who are passionate about restoring the reservoir and the
surrounding park to their previous beauty. It has been my pleasure to meet these fine
people of Restore Our Reservoir and I fully support their efforts raise awareness
about and push the city forward on this issue in order to ultimately come up with the
best solution that cost effectively restores the Rezzy and Reservoir Park to the
crown jewel of the Massillon Park System. I urge you to check out their Facebook
page (Restore Our Reservoir) and sign their petition indicating your opinion of how
the city should proceed on this important issue. The current condition of the park
and the reservoir is unacceptable. Our hard earned tax dollars are paying for and
Massillon deserves a first rate park system.
Finally, let me express that I know that there are many more issues facing our ward
and our city that many of you are concerned and even passionate about. It is these
issues that I want to learn about directly from you as I begin
Organizational Changes After Ww1 Essay
WW1 ended with catastrophic destructions and millions of casualties in the old
continent; therefore, many countries and nations were desperate such a great war
not to happen again, but they were preparing for the next war all the time during the
interwar period. The interwar period between WW1 and WW2 is a period of
transformation of the armed forces towards twentieth and twenty first century
warfare. Countries were rapidly improving the already existing technologies that was
developed during WW1 and prior, and they introduced to the world many new
technologies that will play major part in vining the battles in the upcoming war.
Furthermore, for all nations it was clear that they must spend time on developing new

The post WW1 militaries had to make immediate changes in their postwar
organization in order to increase their effectiveness and readiness. For example, the
German army developed mechanized and amour units called Panzer divisions, which
during the WW2 crushed their opponent armies. In addition, they focused on
redesigning the officer core in order to be more innovative and have critical thinking
skills. After invading Poland, the Germans made AAR, and made immediate
organizational changes and created the Squads as a more effective unit. The Soviet
Union made quality AAR from the WW1 and other so called Small Wars before the
Great War and used the gathered experience to make peacetime innovation into their
military organization in which they developed motorized and mechanized units.
Furthermore, militaries were focused on aviation and as an example is the
development of air force as an independent and their use in combined armed
concepts, which was initiated by Giulio Douhet, an artillery officer who realized the
importance of Air power. Giulio added the airpower component as an asymmetric
piece that will change the war and forced the idea that to have command of the air it
means that it will achieve victory. The US developed and organized amphibious units
to conduct Plan Orange which was developed during the interwar period, and during
the Banana Wars, in which they practiced their technology, TTPs and Doctrine and
used lessons learned to improve in peacetime

Yoga
1.1 Introduction
The word Yoga (/Л€joК
ЉЙЎЙ™/) in Sanskrit means to bind, to join, to yoke as
well as union, communion. Traditionally it is a spiritual, mental as well as a
physical practice or discipline which originated in India. In the west yoga is often
perceived and taught as a pure physical training.
It thus means the yoking of all the powers of the body, mind and soul to God; it means
the disciplining of the intellect, the mind, the emotions, the will, which that Yoga
presupposes; it means a poise of the soul which enables one to look at life in all its

Asana practice and yoga practice are not one and the same. Asana is but one part of
what yoga is about. (see 1.1 introduction).
Asana practice covers the main task of hatha yoga (see 1.3 different approaches to
yoga) and is the third part of PataГ±jali s eight steps to attain the highest state of
consciousness.
Traditionally ДЃsana means sitting condition or posture , it contributes to the
steadiness of the body and the mind and to a sense of well being. The term posture
does not fully cover the meaning of ДЃsana though. In a posture the state of mind is
not of importance. Postures are created and held below the level of consciousness.
e.g.: involuntary lifting of the shoulders while under stress, although the person is
sitting quite comfortably in a chair.
Asana is acquired voluntarily. A thought process is avoided, one is supposed to
concentrate on the breathing or the universe while maintaining the ДЃsana. In
ДЃsanas exercises the muscles, joints and nerves while being maintained in a steady
manner. When ДЃsanas are done accordingly, the eyes are closed or looking to the
ground and the facial muscles are relaxed which contributes to

Absence of trust between the HR staff and the specialists The labourers impression
of HR officials is a noteworthy reason for concern, They underestimate it that the

In 1688, the Protestant Queen Mary and her husband, William of Orange, took the
British throne from King James II in a bloodless coup. The Glorious Revolution had
significant long term effects on American history in that the Bill of Rights and the

colonies. Even more significant, the overthrow of James II set a precedent for the
removal of a hated monarch.

Methicillin-Resistant Mythoiccus Aureus (MRSA)
Antibiotic resistance which can be defined as the ability of bacteria and other
microorganisms to resist the effects of an antibiotic to which they were once
sensitive.8 Antibiotic resistance mainly results from misuse of antibiotics which can
be categorized as intensive and extended use of antibiotics in human and veterinary
treatments where antibiotics were not required and improper disposal of antibiotics
in both hospital environment and community which in turn results an environmental
impact too.
Among the resistant bacterial strains Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

Intrinsic resistance is achieved by spontaneous gene mutation through replication
where acquired resistance results as an adaptation technique when bacteria in contact
with antibiotic. Pathogenic bacteria can gain resistance through several mechanisms
such as acquire modification of active site of the bacteria in turn results in reduction
in the efficacy of binding of the drug, direct modification or destruction of antibiotic
by enzymes produced by bacteria or efflux of antibiotic from the bacterial cell through
efflux pumps. Bacterial species accomplish spreading the resistance through
horizontal gene transfer mechanisms such as transformation, transduction and
conjugation via plasmids.
Antibiotic resistance has evolved as a result of the interactions between bacteria and
antibiotic after an antibiotic exposure. Bacterial species are capable of adapting to
new antibiotic as simply as they adapt to new environments due to their amazing
genomic plasticity. This in turn results antibiotic resistance to be very dynamic and
unpredictable. Every year, almost 100,000 Americans die from antibiotic resistant
infections acquired from hospitals, largely because of the reduced effectiveness of
existing drugs, due to the development and propagation of drug resistance

Early Childhood Abuse and the Effects on Emotional...
Early childhood abuse and the effects on emotional development
Abstract
The present research is aimed at providing an account of early childhood abuse and
its effects on further emotional development. A first focus falls on outlining the
psychological stages of emotional development and the notion of emotional response,
followed by a thorough analysis of the child abuse spectrum together with effects,
both early and belated, of general and most notably socio emotional nature.
Firstly, the meaning of emotional regulation and Erik Erikson s theory of eight stages
of development are depicted, with special emphasis on early childhood. This is done
for the purpose of underlining the importance of regular emotional development as
opposed to one impaired by abuse.
Secondly, stress falls on describing and classifying child abuse and its prevalence in
children under six years of age. After a brief outline of the areas in which a victim is
challenged, focus shifts onward to specific emotional and social drawbacks that
ensue. A more in depth account of this matter follows, enlisting Alan Schore s right
brain correlations, an analysis based on the phenomenon of dissociation, and other
probable prospects for the victim.
The conclusions venture a realistic overview on the aspect of early childhood abuse
and its outcomes.
Development of a person throughout his or her whole lifetime can be seen either as
a continuous process or as a final status to be attained. Psychologists agree
Gay Adoption Research Paper
Gay Adoption: To Condemn or Condone
Last year, 29,471 children turned 18 and left the foster care system without an
adoptive family ( Adoption 1). Unfortunately for those young adults, knowing the
comfort of a stable family was not part of their childhood. Though there is a high
demand for children to be adopted, the reality is many are not being adopted.
Furthermore, even though there are children that need a good home, state
governments are purposely making laws that prohibit certain groups of people from
adopting children. States like Florida and Mississippi are both culprits. Two groups
that are especially being targeted by unfair laws are gays and lesbians. These unfair
laws are clear discrimination, and they should be put to an end ... Show more content

Because of this, the children are the ones who really suffer. If states limit the groups
of people allowed to adopt children, then more and more children will not have a
family. According to the text, There are 423,773 children in the U.S. foster care
system; 114,556 of these children are available for adoption. Their birth parent s legal
rights have been permanently terminated and children are left without a family (
Adoption 1). There are at least 114,556 children in the U.S. foster care system
waiting and waiting and waiting for a family to take them home. By precluding
gays and lesbians from adopting them, the children will be without a home for
their whole adolescent life. In addition, there are gay and lesbian couples where
one of the partners has a child from a previous marriage or relationship. Even in this
case, the non biological parent cannot adopt the child, and this leads to further
suffering for the children. In the article, Final Holdout on Same Sex Adoption , the
author, Tamar Lewin, states, Hannah Marie Phillips makes the same point, in her 8
year old fashion: We want the other name on the birth certificate like my first mom,
because both of my moms want to be a mommy, she said (2). The interview of a little
girl, Hannah Marie Phillips, explains that even she does not feel like her mothers are

Personal Note On Time Management And Leisure
I recorded and tracked my time for a week and as I was totaling up my hours for
each block of time used in similar tasks I soon realized a trend. I love to sleep and I
love to be social. Community service and religion was absent in my totaled hours.
Time management and leisure are very closely related. With the help of a time use
calendar, I plan to better balance my time in the future. My initial observations of
sleeping or napping were not surprising because we all need it. Second, I realized
that I am an incredibly social person more than I thought I was. For the most part, I
love to be with my friends, my family, and with my significant other. The third
place I significantly spend my time is at work, I was surprised it was not school. I
was shocked to find that I did not spend a lot of time doing homework as much as I
initially thought. I spend just as much time driving as I do getting ready. I hope
technology advances with self driving cars so I can get ready on my way to work
and school, which would kill two birds with one stone. I don t feel wasteful of my
time because it seems I don t watch as much television as I thought I did. I can
however, use my time more wisely in using more hours to study and do homework
over the weekend than to be socializing as much as I do. I seem to binge socialize
from Thursday through Sunday. I can balance that out if I socialize throughout the
week and leave some time to do my homework in the weekend. I noticed that I hardly

Reasons for the Decline of the Parallel Cinema Movement
in...
It is an arduous task to single out one specific reason accountable for the decline of
the parallel cinema movement in India. There are numerous inextricable
technological as well as economic factors involved. A decade of 1980 to 2000 in
India saw radical economic and technological transformations. This was the period
when Doordarshan exponentially expanded its network for the upcoming Asian
Games in 1982 and colour televisiontook birth. More importantly, this was also the
period when the policy of economic liberalisation was launched. The liberalisation
policy put an end to Doordarshan s monopoly over broadcasting allowing the entry of
satellite television. Shrewd media moguls like Rupert Murdoch and Summer Redstone
hastened to get a toehold in an emerging economy that promised to become a
burgeoning media market. In 1995, commercial internet came to India, and took off
rapidly enough to enable a dot com boom. Both satellite TV and internet captured the
attention of the growing urban middle class eager for more media choice. These
technological changes induced by digitisation changed media habits and concurrently
transformed and took over both the production and exhibition of cinema. Large
number of new players entered in filmproduction and the exhibition of films unlike
earlier were not only restricted to theatres but were simultaneously exhibited and
promoted by satellite TV and the web.

the universe. Tycho s studies as a scientist led to his accomplishments and his lasting

Brahe portrayed the humanist ideal observation by revising previous theories and
scientific tools throughout his career. Three discoveries attributed to Tycho Brahe
include how the earth s position is viewed in the universe, mapping of celestial
bodies, and his creation of accurate scientific instruments. Before the Renaissance,
many scientists believed in the geocentric theory, or the belief that the earth was the
center of the universe, and the sun, planets, and other stars revolved around earth.
Tycho proved that the path of the comet of 1577 was not circular, but elongated,
meaning that it would be impossible according to the geocentric theory. This
discovery influenced the ways scientists viewed the location of planets and stars.
Tycho viewed and observed a new star in the constellation Cassiopeia that lay
beyond the moon and was in the realm of fixed stars. This discovery of the new star
influenced the way scientists mapped all celestial bodies. Brahe was one of the first
astronomers to realize the importance of error of instrumentation. He believed that
some of the errors in the astronomical works of famous Renaissance astronomers
were due to poor instrumentation. He was able to develop new instruments to plot his
research that were massive improvements on the previous tables and tools used. His
designs for new methods and instruments won him great fame. These discoveries
continue to influence the way scientists view the universe
Warkentin Chapter Summary
How does one describe land? What determines how one describes it? Does it matter
about what year the chapter is written? In Chapter 12 of Warkentin s text, he
elaborates on the spacial complexities humans had in British Columbia between 1840
s and early 2000 s. Warkentin flows from the Southern British Columbia region to the
Central areas of British Columbia then continues observations to the Island Pacific
coast which finishes with the Metropolitan B.C. His expertise of the land is almost
overwhelming with descriptions of the Natural features, resources, and settlements
within the area expressing tremendous spacial and humanistic details, highlighting the

The descriptions he gives about these keystones in history is enough for me to

learning, I much preferred the Warkentin chapter as it influenced me to dig deeper

What intrigues me about both chapters is their
different takes on what the geography of B.C. should represent. The Bone articles

seemingly bypassing the history of how British Columbians have gotten to that point.
There is a lack of concern for indigenous population and other small communities in
particularly the northern regions which should be addressed. Bone does a great job of
keeping his text simple and effective for easy reading to catch main points, in my
opinion this is where Warkentin has struggled. The detail Warkentin illustrates in his
text is profound yet cumbersome at times. Warkentin s knowledge of the land and
how humans have managed to integrate themselves among it to begin the extraction

The Weimar Republic And The Rise Of The Nazi Party
After the abdication of the German Kaiser, Kaiser Wilhelm II, in 1918, Germany
attempted to turn their country into a Democratic republic. The Weimar Republic
was a parliamentary democracy that was formed after the fall of Germany in WWI.
The German people believed that the Weimar Republic was responsible for the
signing of the Treaty of Versailles , which significantly reduced the power of German
to defend themselves and rebuild their county at World War I
, the people believed that
the Weimar Republicstabbed the country in the back after the signing of Treaty of
Versailles . Some of the other major weaknesses that assisted in the growth and rise
of the Nazi party were:
1. The Weakness of the constitution
2. The French invasion of the Ruhr
3. Hyperinflation
4. The Great Depression although technically the Weimar Republic was in power
between the years of 1918 1945, most people believe that the power of the Weimar
government ended in 1933 when Hitler s Third Reich took over the country.
The Weimar Republic was a coalition government made up of eight major parties.
These parties ranged from Social Democrats and communists to the left and the
peoples parties to the right. Every seven years, a new president would be elected by
the people, all men and women over the a of 20 years old could vote for members to
be elected into the Reichstag, this also made The Weimar Constitution a democracy.
The Weimar Republic voting was based upon proportional Representation, whereby

thoughts, I came up with a new strategy to be of help by reducing the staff s
workloads or prepping paperwork in advance to allow them more time to focus on
the patients. Additionally, I sought feedback on areas I could improve on to not only
help the unit staff, but also patients and their visitors. These tactics are similar to
what we discussed in class pertaining to developing our growth mindset. By
enforcing these strategies, I was able to contribute to a more positive and rewarding
atmosphere during my shifts with everyone I met.
From a different outcome, an instance I did not display resilience was during my time
as an executive member for a student club in helping facilitate camaraderie amongst
the team. As one of the external executives, I observed frustration and conflict of
interests that resulted in a negative perception between some team members and
targeted outcomes for meetings. What I failed to do in these instances was to take
initiative in establishing feedback channels that would promote efficient
communication between everyone. A few strategies discussed from class regarding
growth mindset that would have been critical in helping me address this situation are:
praising everyone on the team s progress and efforts, and focusing on the future
while learning from feedback. The key aspect of focusing on the future while not
dwelling on the past was utilizing the component of getting feedback and learning
from our mistakes to come back stronger as a team rather than remain divided on a
blame game.
So What?
What I learned from these incidents is that while the people I interact with have a
strong influence on how I perceive and react to my environment, I also have control
in my outlook. The strategies were useful in
The Roman Army Pax Romana Essay
History remembers the legendary Roman legions as the one of the most deadly and
respected fighting forces in the ancient world. Even today, stories of their great
success and invincibility in the face of their enemies echo on. One can only wonder
what the key to their extraordinary success was. How were the Romans able to
conquer such a vast empire that spanned over three continents at its height and
maintain that power for centuries? That key to Rome s military success during the
Pax Romana period (where the Roman Empirerose to its zenith) was the advanced
military innovations that the Romans incorporated into its great army that
encompassed military bureaucracy, battle tactics and military technology.
The old saying, Success comes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Josephus who accompanied the Roman army as a prisoner of war chronicled his
journey in great detail and his observations of the Roman army during Vespasian s
march to Galilee provided a vivid picture of how everything was planned out. The
order of the march was that the auxiliaries marched first, [followed by] the [...]
Romans who were most completely armed both footmen and horsemen. Next to
[them] followed ten out of every hundred, carrying along with them their arms, and
what was necessary to measure out a camp withal; [...] after these came the
commanders of the cohorts (Josephus 3.116 3.122). From Josephus own eyes, he
admired the how disciplined and organized the army was which showed how much
respect the legions got even from their enemies. Lastly, military ranks played a
crucial part in the bureaucracy of the Roman army. The general of the legions was
the Legatus Legionis which was chosen from men of the senate class by the
Emperor. The Legatus was then followed by 6 tribunes who acted as the second in
command. Finally, the most important rank was the centurion who commanded
squadrons of soldiers and organized the daily activities such as training, maintenance
and discipline of his men. All together, these main military officers passed down the
order of the emperor to the troops in a efficient way very similar to the modern
military of today. This military bureaucracy was very effective in organizing the army
which in turn gave the
The Traditional Family
Family is an interesting subject to discuss, as the traditional family structure has
definitely changed, for example, in 2011 the U.S. Census Bureau, stated that 27.2%
of American children under the age of 18 lived with one parent in 2007, in
comparison to 1960, where around 9.1% of American children who lived in single
parent families in 1960 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2004). Reiss (1981) stated that family
shares world views, and together the value and belief systems give the family a
meaning in a social context. As human beings are social beings, family is important
because, that is the nucleus in where people learn their social cues and behaviors.
Family communication has an immediate impact on the self esteem of adolescents
and this is prevalent in many facets of adolescent life, specifically dating. Through
looking at family communication standards, the standards by which Caughlin
conceptualized as specific ideal behaviors practiced in a family environment. Through
family communication standards, individuals judge communication in families, these
standards have 10 dimensions which are openness, maintaining structural stability,
expression of affection, emotional/ instrumental support, mindreading, politeness,
discipline, humor/sarcasm, regular routine interaction and avoidance (Caughlin
2003). Looking at family communication standards gives a base as to what ideal
family communication should be; could family also play a role in the way
adolescent s view their own self
Essay On Bitcoins
Guide For Bitcoin Gambling Websites Bitcoins are increasing in popularity as a
banking option with US gamblers and gambling websites. In some cases, Bitcoins
is actually the best banking option on the market for US players. Gamblers from
other countries should also seriously consider using Bitcoins for their gambling
purposes. If you are a newbie to bitcoins, this guide is for you. Bitcoins operate
slightly differently from other currencies and those differences will be explained
on this page. Even if you are familiar with how bitcoins work, you will also find
some useful info here. If you are currently using Bitcoins, we will examine the best
sites to use them at and we will also look at the advantages and disadvantages of
using this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every 10 minutes a block of Bitcoins are created. Initially, one block contained 25
Bitcoins, but since last year that has been reduced by 50%, with each block now
containing 12.5 Bitcoins. Bitcoin blocks will be periodically cut in half on a
continual basis until 21 million Bitcoins are mined, which is expected to happen
by 2040. Bitcoin s value, similar to other currencies, is determined by supply and
demand. One Bitcoin is valued at $824 as of the writing of this guide, but in the
past, they have reached values over $1,000. When they first came out in 2009, for
only $27, you could purchase 5,000 Bitcoins. If you are using Bitcoins as an
investment vehicle, it should be noted that they are volatile. You should only use a
small portion of your discretionary investment money to invest in Bitcoins at this
time. When we say volatile, what do we mean? The value of Bitcoins can fluctuate
drastically and often without reason. How volatile can they be? The price of a
Bitcoin plummeted 50% overnight in 2009. Keep in mind that the value of Bitcoins
can fluctuate when making deposits or withdrawals at gambling websites. In some
cases, that could give you extra funds for gambling. When you decide to convert
Bitcoins into a different currency might also be a gamble on its own. Best Places To
Buy and Sell Bitcoins Similar to other investments, exchanges are used to buy and
sell Bitcoins. (Exchanges are marketplaces set up for
Methods Of Construction At 4.1 Pile Foundation
4. METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION 4.1 PILE FOUNDATION: Piles are
structural members that are made up of steel, concrete, or timber. They are used to
build pile foundations, which are deep and which cost more than shallow
foundations. Despite the cost, the use of piles often is necessary to ensure structural
safety. The following list identifies some of the condition that require pile
foundations. 1.When the upper soil layers are highly compressible and too weak to
carry the load transmitted by the superstructure, piles are used for transmitting the
load to underlying bedrocks or a stronger soil layer, as shown in figure(a). When
bedrock is not encountered at a reasonable depth below the ground surface, piles are
used to transmit the structural load to the soil. The resistance to the applied structural
load is derived mainly from the frictional resistance developed at the soil pile
interface (figure (b)). Figure 4.1 Pile Requirements 2. When subjected to horizontal
forces, pile foundations resist by bending while still supporting the vertical load
transmitted by the superstructure. This type of situation is generally encountered in
the design and construction of earth retaining structures and foundations of tall
structures that are subject to high wind and/or earthquake forces. 3. In many cases,
expansive and collapsible soils may be present at the site of a proposed structure.
These soils may extend to a

Whether you ride English or Western saddle we can all agree that the horse contains
a special place in our hearts. The one thing you need to know about horses, says Jim
Stitt, is they love to work and perform. (Fong, Petty. It Was Urban Vs Cowboys in
Fight for Animal Rights.) The horse has been used all throughout history from the
Spanish Conquistadors to the Englishman during the American Revolution. Now
horses can be found on race tracks, rodeos, shows, large and small farms, and
slaughter homes. Even though some horse owners claim abuse is nothing more than
discipline, and horse meat is high in protein, low in fat, and helps slaughter homes
gain bigger profits and investment from overseas companies, horse abuse and
slaughter should not be taken lightly because it is inhumane to abuse a horse to the
brink of death and claim it is discipline, most slaughter homes are in insalubrious
conditions and environments, and most horse abuse is done inside slaughter homes.
Discipline is no longer discipline when the horse is at the brink of death. The type
of abuse depends on the activities the horses do. Abuse and Discipline are two
different things. One is not followed by the other. Discipline is used to correct and
train a horse to not make the same mistake over again. Abuse is used to torment and
torture the horse for no reason until the horse is dead. That quality that we love is
also a quality that allows people to abuse them... They

Asthma and Case Management
Nurses always play a vital role in patient safety and care. In contrast with the past,
today the nurses are well informed, with a focus on coordinating patient care and the
use of critical thinking skills. Being a significant health care professional involved in
the patient care, nurses have several responsibilities such as preventing medication
errors, ensuring the patients attain accurate treatment and above all upholding the
patient safety. While coming to case management nurses, they need to have deeper
understanding of healthcare services and their application. In addition, they must
have enhanced organizational talent and effective communication skills with the
patients and with different sources on behalf of these patients.
Nurses come across patients with diverse health conditions; some of them possess
chronic conditions and others with acute ailments. Each health condition has its own
steps of treatment and/or management. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of
the airways. When the lungs are inflamed it causes trouble in inhaling (CDC, 2009).
In the United States, asthma affects between 14 and 15 million individuals (Dinelli
Higgins, 2002). Several allergens and irritants, such as animals dander, pollen grains,
particular chemicals, insect parts, smoke, and dust, that are widespread in our
atmosphere, and can cause and increase the severity of this disease.
Runaway Slavery
In 1850, the topic of runaway slaves was becoming more frequent. Though there
were passed laws that allowed owners of slaves to recapture slave property in other
territories, the South felt the laws needed to be more iron fisted. (This was mostly
due to the Northern abolitionists making the South uncomfortable with their current
grip on the government.) Of course, they got their way, and the Fugitive Slave Act.
This allowed the slave holders to say a slave was his in front of a government
official (even if they were not) and have legal right to claim them. Not soon after,
Northern writer Harriet Beecher Stowe, wrote about a slave, in her book Uncle Tom
s Cabin; drove even more Northerners against slavery. The south denounced her
book, calling it slander and intense fanaticism . Still Stowe s book sold 300,000
(sadly ten times the amount Frederick Douglas autobiography sold for). But still the...

With fighting in Bleeding Kansas over slave state laws, and the dreaded Dred Scott
decision, southern slave territories became inflamed. The Dred Scott case gave
office seekers, such as Abe Lincoln, amble opportunities to get their name out to the
public. Though Lincoln disagreed with slavery, he kept it on the down low and let
states who were in slave territory continue slavery. Although Lincoln believed that
Black people deserved natural rights, he found it would be impossible to achieve.
People thinking expansion of slavery would cause problems with free men, and
their will. The Dred Scott decision became proof of the White South s aggression;
they actually believed they were under attack. Talk of separating from the Union was
starting to swarm, and though this talk had been heard for years from the South, it
was becoming a real threat. The only way the country felt confidence is if slavery
remained, but after Lincoln won election, that went out the door. All the South was
waiting for was another

  • 2. The Case Roe V. Wade Essay Since the 1960s, the fight to receive accessible and affordable abortions has been a largely controversial issue in the United States. The case Roe v. Wade was the climax of that fight, for the Court held that... only a pregnant woman and her doctor have the legal right to make the decision about an abortion( History of Abortion ). Although Roe v. Wadeultimately made abortions legal in the States, there are still setbacks for affordable and accessible abortions today, and many of these conflicts may be directly traced to state by state determination of abortion laws. In today s society, the rate of teen pregnancy is rapidly decreasing. This may be attributed to decrease in costs of contraception, costs and availability for abortion, and better sex education over time. In 2014, a total of 249,078 babies were born to women aged 15 19 years, for a birth rate of 24.2 per 1,000 women in this age group. This is another historic low for U.S. teens and a drop of 9% from 2013. Birth rates fell 11% for women aged 15 17 years and 7% for women aged 18 19 years ( About Teen Pregnancy ). Abortion is a highly debated topic today, for many wonder if the woman should have the right to choose. Those who choose to get an abortion are practically putting themselves on trial in today s society. To understand why this is so, one must look at both sides of the abortion issue, and compare the facts. Abortion is an extremely controversial issue for many, and polarized, or split, into pro life
  • 3. Famine Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer Summary The article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality by Peter Singer highlights the death and suffering that occurred in East Bengal in 1971 due to lack of food, shelter, and medical care (Singer 231). The author points out that poverty, civil war, and a cyclone all combined to make the situation worse for about nine million people inhabiting the area at the time, but if the richer nations came in and provided assistance, further suffering would have been alleviated. This essay provides an argument as to why famine victims should be given aid and explains how doing so affects our understanding of the distinction between charity and duty. It also offers a critique of Singer s argument based on John Arthur s idea of just deserts from his article entitled Famine relief and the Ideal MoralCode. Why we should aid famine victims Singer s main argument in Famine, Affluence, and Morality, is that the manner in which we conduct ourselves morally needs to change. The author holds that if it is within our power to prevent a bad event from taking place without sacrificing anything else of moral importance, or without causing something equally bad to happen, then we are morally obligated to react and prevent it (Singer 231). According to him, we all have the power and the means to prevent bad situations from affecting people across the world no matter how helpless we feel. Singer provides an example where a person is placed in a situation where they can prevent something bad from happening

  • 5. Rio Host Impacts Essay Name Prof. Class Date Title Every four years the world goes into a clamor for the Olympic Games, and cities aggressively bid for the right to host these events. Cities literally fight for the right to hold these games and spend exorbitant amounts of money in the hopes of bringing the worlds Olympiad s to their municipality. But, is the prestige of being the host worth it for the host city? It is becoming more apparent that these endeavors are detrimental to the economy, if you look at the five most recent summer Olympics; Rio de Janeiro, London, Beijing, Athens, and Sydney. Many of these cities apply with the hopes of a positive long term impact, many in recent times to be severely disappointed. Rio won it s Olympic bid in 2009, after several years of solid GDP growth and was one of the most dynamic emerging economies at the time. The summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro were plagued by controversy even before the games started, with concerns over the outbreak of the Zika virus as well as the concerns about the water in the area (Rapoza). After Brazil announced that it would host the 2016 Olympics it has invested twelve billion dollars in infrastructure alone between 2009 2015, something that had to be developed to support the influx of tourists and athletes (Rapoza). This investment in the infrastructure and public spending increased the debt of Rio by 17%, and the state received a bailout from the government in June. In the investment phase there was

With regard to the Book of Genesis, it is important to examine the writing with other contemporary works of similar geography and topics. The people of ancient Mesopotamia, where the oldest civilizations originated, produced a number of stories of creation and natural occurrences. It is important to note that many of the stories of the Sumerians, Akkadians and Hebrews began as oral traditions as the events they depict predate writing, so it is difficult to date these works on the basis of when these prehistoric myths were initiated. Just as there existed beings outside of creation in the Enuma Elish, the Hebrew God was present prior to the formation of the world. As the universe becomes defined in the following stages, the development described in each of the stories show a resemblance in events and the order in which they occurred. It is important to note that light existed, in both stories, independent of celestial bodies. Next, in same order, the sky and ground are created, followed by luminaries or the sun, moon and stars. The fact that the sequence of the creation stories is nearly identical can hardly be accidental according to some scholars. Subsequently, man is created with elements of divinity, given the task of working the soil . At the conclusion of each creation story, the deities rest from their work. While it is necessary to refrain from exaggerating the influence found in these similarities, it is equally essential to remain open to the understanding that these works emerged within a similar conceptual world . Though many similarities in the creation stories of Genesis and the Enuma Elish, the divergences are much more far reaching and significant . Unlike the gods of depicted in the Enuma Elish who were coexistent and coeternal with the comic matter , the Hebrew God is transcendent and separate from the substance of the cosmos, having Himself created it. While the Hebrew God exists in eternity past,

  • 16. Oscar Wilde Poetry Analysis Analyzing a Poet: Oscar Wilde Poems have a special meaning to the people who read them and the poet themselves even Oscar Wilde, a poet, author and play writer. Oscar Wilde was born on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. His parents were Jane and William Wilde and was also the second child of three kids. He was fluent French and German and his parents were successful people. Wilde wrote books, plays, poetry but out of all of them his plays are the most known. I am going to analyze Oscar Wilde because his poems have imagery and metaphors that caught my eye and just how it was written I really loved. At a young age, Wilde s mother would read poetry that she wrote to him and would make it a habit to read it to him. Wilde was introduced to poetry at a young age. He was taught at home until nine where he learned how to speak French and German like I said earlier. His little sister Isola died at age nine from meningitis which is inflammation of the brain and also spinal cord membranes and his poem Requiescat was made in her memory. Wilde was accepted into the college Trinity College from 1871 to 1874 with his older brother, Willie. His tutor gave him the interest in Greek literature. After that he attended another college called, Magdalen. Death is very hard on the people who are dying and those around them, his poem Requiescat is inspired by the sad death of his sister as I spoke about earlier. It is very powerful and meaningful because it talks about her death and how sad and painful it is for others afterwards. First off, in stanza three it says Lily like, white as snow, She hardly knew She was a woman, so Sweetly she grew. This stanza is stating that his sister, Isola was pure and innocent. The phrase white as snow means pure. Secondly, in stanza four it says Coffin board, heavy stone, Lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. In my opinion, heavy stone is her grave and lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone means his heart is with her or it can even mean distressed heart because i found out that vex means distress. Lastly, in stanza five it says Peace, peace, she cannot hear, Lyre or sonnet, All my life s buried here, Heap earth upon it.

The poets all choose to build their stories around this subject while each choose to approach this from different perspectives and stances. La Belle Dame sans Merci focuses on the idea of unreciprocated love; reflecting William Keat s personal feud against the pains of love. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ballad adopts a unique stanza structure that shortens the last line of every quatrain which creates an abrupt change in rhythm, helping keep the reader focused. The result is the first three lines of every quatrain being written in Iambic tetrameter in which a line contains four feet, with the stress falling upon the first syllable in each pair as opposed to the Iambic dimeter in the fourth line which contains two feet with the stress falling upon the first syllable in each pair for instance, Fast withereth too. , in line 12 . This is intended to help enhance the flow of the poem by forcing the reader to conform to the rhythm. The differentiation in the fourth line is used by Keats to create a feeling of emptiness and suspense. This is used by Keats to emphasize the lovesick and sore feelings of the knight to the reader. In contrast, Robert Browning s My Last Duchess is written in the form of a monologue through Iambic Pentameter. The monologue is one entity divided only by the rhyming couplets. However, the flow and rhyme is partially sacrificed because of there is so much enjambment. Browning uses this format in order to emphasize the themes presented. For instance in line 31, Or blush, at least. She thanked men good! but thanked , where but thanked is a continuation of the phrase she thanked men good . Browning uses this format in My Last Duchess

The Interactions between Short Term Memory and Long Term Memory: What is the Messaging Protocol? 1.Introduction Computers store data in memory, and simulate human memory when they achieve this. It might be easy to predict the mechanism of how computer memory works, but the function of human memory is much more sophisticated. Basically, the role of memory is to retain information, store them and retrieve when it is necessary. According to Bunuel (1984), You have to begin to lose your memory, if only in bits and pieces, to realize that memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life at all. Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are nothing (pp.4 5). This simply illustrates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surprisingly, cognitive researchers believe that short term memory is a reflection of long term memory. However, others argue that these two types of memory function differently. Thus, the link between STM and LTM is still a controversial issue. Since memory has been of interest to psycholinguists and researchers, many tend to decode the message passing between these two major components of memory. Is there a messaging protocol that may link both ? To what extent each one can affect the other? This paper analyzes the studies that have been conducted to look at the underlying relationship between STM and LTM through the demonstration of a body of research conducted in this field. 2.Retrieving from Short Term Memory Information is stored in STM for a short period of time, and it is retrieved from there. Of course, there are processes that occur during such. There is a task introduced by Sternberg (2004) to determine the recall mechanism. Gemix Slot Machines is unique for it mixes into the arcade game category while many still consider it a slots type of game. With this, it seems to be a popular arcade/slot machine hybrid game due to its addictive gameplay, attractive interface, and of course, its casino like energy and concept. We can say that it s reminiscent of the beloved Candy Crush Saga mobile game because of Gemix s matching gems mechanic and its associated features. Before we get into how Gemix is played, let s first discuss how the game looks when you start to play it. Play N Go makes efforts to make sure their games look and play in a similar fashion compared to their other well known mobile games, and while there s not too much to be in awe about in terms of looks for Gemix, it s cleaner than most related games. Gemix does just have gems on the screen and nothing else that special, but it looks pretty sufficient for its game category so you won t be disappointed. When you first play the game, Gemix looks like any other slot machine game in the market with its seven reels, but these reels don t function like you think they would. As you play the game on a 7x7 grid, the grid shuffles when you press the start button, just like on a slot machine. When you make a combination of five or more of the same neighboring symbols, these symbols will then disappear followed by the

  • 31. Early Childhood Abuse and the Effects on Emotional... Early childhood abuse and the effects on emotional development Abstract The present research is aimed at providing an account of early childhood abuse and its effects on further emotional development. A first focus falls on outlining the psychological stages of emotional development and the notion of emotional response, followed by a thorough analysis of the child abuse spectrum together with effects, both early and belated, of general and most notably socio emotional nature. Firstly, the meaning of emotional regulation and Erik Erikson s theory of eight stages of development are depicted, with special emphasis on early childhood. This is done for the purpose of underlining the importance of regular emotional development as opposed to one impaired by abuse. Secondly, stress falls on describing and classifying child abuse and its prevalence in children under six years of age. After a brief outline of the areas in which a victim is challenged, focus shifts onward to specific emotional and social drawbacks that ensue. A more in depth account of this matter follows, enlisting Alan Schore s right brain correlations, an analysis based on the phenomenon of dissociation, and other probable prospects for the victim. The conclusions venture a realistic overview on the aspect of early childhood abuse and its outcomes. Development of a person throughout his or her whole lifetime can be seen either as a continuous process or as a final status to be attained. Psychologists agree

With the help of a time use calendar, I plan to better balance my time in the future. My initial observations of sleeping or napping were not surprising because we all need it. Second, I realized that I am an incredibly social person more than I thought I was. For the most part, I love to be with my friends, my family, and with my significant other. • 34. Reasons for the Decline of the Parallel Cinema Movement in... It is an arduous task to single out one specific reason accountable for the decline of the parallel cinema movement in India. There are numerous inextricable technological as well as economic factors involved. A decade of 1980 to 2000 in India saw radical economic and technological transformations. This was the period when Doordarshan exponentially expanded its network for the upcoming Asian Games in 1982 and colour televisiontook birth. More importantly, this was also the period when the policy of economic liberalisation was launched. The liberalisation policy put an end to Doordarshan s monopoly over broadcasting allowing the entry of satellite television. Shrewd media moguls like Rupert Murdoch and Summer Redstone hastened to get a toehold in an emerging economy that promised to become a burgeoning media market. In 1995, commercial internet came to India, and took off rapidly enough to enable a dot com boom. Both satellite TV and internet captured the attention of the growing urban middle class eager for more media choice. These technological changes induced by digitisation changed media habits and concurrently transformed and took over both the production and exhibition of cinema. Large number of new players entered in filmproduction and the exhibition of films unlike earlier were not only restricted to theatres but were simultaneously exhibited and promoted by satellite TV and the web. Sudhir Nandgoankar, General Secretary of FFSI says, The long march of the movement

Tycho proved that the path of the comet of 1577 was not circular, but elongated, meaning that it would be impossible according to the geocentric theory. This discovery influenced the ways scientists viewed the location of planets and stars. Tycho viewed and observed a new star in the constellation Cassiopeia that lay beyond the moon and was in the realm of fixed stars. • 40. Strategies Of A Personal Reflection What An example of when I displayed resilience was when I was assigned a unit as a hospital volunteer and took on different roles that what I anticipated. My supervisor was on maternity leave for the duration of my rotation, so I was placed at the nurses station to aid them with tasks as needed. The difficulty I had in this role was the ambiguity when I came for my shifts and feelings of being a burden to the staff by not having designated tasks. Rather than continue these negative thoughts, I came up with a new strategy to be of help by reducing the staff s workloads or prepping paperwork in advance to allow them more time to focus on the patients. Additionally, I sought feedback on areas I could improve on to not only help the unit staff, but also patients and their visitors. These tactics are similar to what we discussed in class pertaining to developing our growth mindset. By enforcing these strategies, I was able to contribute to a more positive and rewarding atmosphere during my shifts with everyone I met. From a different outcome, an instance I did not display resilience was during my time as an executive member for a student club in helping facilitate camaraderie amongst the team. As one of the external executives, I observed frustration and conflict of interests that resulted in a negative perception between some team members and targeted outcomes for meetings. What I failed to do in these instances was to take initiative in establishing feedback channels that would promote efficient communication between everyone. A few strategies discussed from class regarding growth mindset that would have been critical in helping me address this situation are: praising everyone on the team s progress and efforts, and focusing on the future while learning from feedback. The key aspect of focusing on the future while not dwelling on the past was utilizing the component of getting feedback and learning from our mistakes to come back stronger as a team rather than remain divided on a blame game. • 41. The Roman Army Pax Romana Essay History remembers the legendary Roman legions as the one of the most deadly and respected fighting forces in the ancient world. Even today, stories of their great success and invincibility in the face of their enemies echo on. One can only wonder what the key to their extraordinary success was. How were the Romans able to conquer such a vast empire that spanned over three continents at its height and maintain that power for centuries? That key to Rome s military success during the Pax Romana period (where the Roman Empirerose to its zenith) was the advanced military innovations that the Romans incorporated into its great army that encompassed military bureaucracy, battle tactics and military technology. Josephus who accompanied the Roman army as a prisoner of war chronicled his journey in great detail and his observations of the Roman army during Vespasian s march to Galilee provided a vivid picture of how everything was planned out. The order of the march was that the auxiliaries marched first, [followed by] the [...] Romans who were most completely armed both footmen and horsemen. Next to [them] followed ten out of every hundred, carrying along with them their arms, and what was necessary to measure out a camp withal; [...] after these came the commanders of the cohorts (Josephus 3.116 3.122). From Josephus own eyes, he admired the how disciplined and organized the army was which showed how much respect the legions got even from their enemies. Lastly, military ranks played a crucial part in the bureaucracy of the Roman army. The general of the legions was the Legatus Legionis which was chosen from men of the senate class by the Emperor. The Legatus was then followed by 6 tribunes who acted as the second in command. Finally, the most important rank was the centurion who commanded squadrons of soldiers and organized the daily activities such as training, maintenance and discipline of his men. All together, these main military officers passed down the order of the emperor to the troops in a efficient way very similar to the modern military of today. This military bureaucracy was very effective in organizing the army which in turn gave the

The Traditional Family Family is an interesting subject to discuss, as the traditional family structure has definitely changed, for example, in 2011 the U.S. Census Bureau, stated that 27.2% of American children under the age of 18 lived with one parent in 2007, in comparison to 1960, where around 9.1% of American children who lived in single parent families in 1960 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2004). Reiss (1981) stated that family shares world views, and together the value and belief systems give the family a meaning in a social context. As human beings are social beings, family is important because, that is the nucleus in where people learn their social cues and behaviors. Family communication has an immediate impact on the self esteem of adolescents and this is prevalent in many facets of adolescent life, specifically dating. Through looking at family communication standards, the standards by which Caughlin conceptualized as specific ideal behaviors practiced in a family environment. Through family communication standards, individuals judge communication in families, these standards have 10 dimensions which are openness, maintaining structural stability, expression of affection, emotional/ instrumental support, mindreading, politeness, discipline, humor/sarcasm, regular routine interaction and avoidance (Caughlin 2003). Looking at family communication standards gives a base as to what ideal family communication should be; could family also play a role in the way adolescent s view their own self

  • 44. Methods Of Construction At 4.1 Pile Foundation 4. METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION 4.1 PILE FOUNDATION: Piles are structural members that are made up of steel, concrete, or timber. They are used to build pile foundations, which are deep and which cost more than shallow foundations. Despite the cost, the use of piles often is necessary to ensure structural safety. The following list identifies some of the condition that require pile foundations. 1.When the upper soil layers are highly compressible and too weak to carry the load transmitted by the superstructure, piles are used for transmitting the load to underlying bedrocks or a stronger soil layer, as shown in figure(a). When bedrock is not encountered at a reasonable depth below the ground surface, piles are used to transmit the structural load to the soil. The resistance to the applied structural load is derived mainly from the frictional resistance developed at the soil pile interface (figure (b)). Figure 4.1 Pile Requirements 2. When subjected to horizontal forces, pile foundations resist by bending while still supporting the vertical load transmitted by the superstructure. This type of situation is generally encountered in the design and construction of earth retaining structures and foundations of tall structures that are subject to high wind and/or earthquake forces. 3. In many cases, expansive and collapsible soils may be present at the site of a proposed structure. These soils may extend to a

The one thing you need to know about horses, says Jim Stitt, is they love to work and perform. (Fong, Petty. It Was Urban Vs Cowboys in Fight for Animal Rights.) The horse has been used all throughout history from the Spanish Conquistadors to the Englishman during the American Revolution. Now horses can be found on race tracks, rodeos, shows, large and small farms, and slaughter homes. Even though some horse owners claim abuse is nothing more than discipline, and horse meat is high in protein, low in fat, and helps slaughter homes gain bigger profits and investment from overseas companies, horse abuse and slaughter should not be taken lightly because it is inhumane to abuse a horse to the brink of death and claim it is discipline, most slaughter homes are in insalubrious conditions and environments, and most horse abuse is done inside slaughter homes. Discipline is no longer discipline when the horse is at the brink of death. The type of abuse depends on the activities the horses do. Abuse and Discipline are two different things. One is not followed by the other. Discipline is used to correct and train a horse to not make the same mistake over again. Abuse is used to torment and torture the horse for no reason until the horse is dead. That quality that we love is also a quality that allows people to abuse them... They

  • 47. Runaway Slavery In 1850, the topic of runaway slaves was becoming more frequent. Though there were passed laws that allowed owners of slaves to recapture slave property in other territories, the South felt the laws needed to be more iron fisted. (This was mostly due to the Northern abolitionists making the South uncomfortable with their current grip on the government.) Of course, they got their way, and the Fugitive Slave Act. This allowed the slave holders to say a slave was his in front of a government official (even if they were not) and have legal right to claim them. Not soon after, Northern writer Harriet Beecher Stowe, wrote about a slave, in her book Uncle Tom s Cabin; drove even more Northerners against slavery. The south denounced her book, calling it slander and intense fanaticism . Still Stowe s book sold 300,000 (sadly ten times the amount Frederick Douglas autobiography sold for). But still the... The Dred Scott case gave office seekers, such as Abe Lincoln, amble opportunities to get their name out to the public. Though Lincoln disagreed with slavery, he kept it on the down low and let states who were in slave territory continue slavery. Although Lincoln believed that Black people deserved natural rights, he found it would be impossible to achieve. People thinking expansion of slavery would cause problems with free men, and their will. The Dred Scott decision became proof of the White South s aggression; they actually believed they were under attack. Talk of separating from the Union was starting to swarm, and though this talk had been heard for years from the South, it was becoming a real threat. The only way the country felt confidence is if slavery remained, but after Lincoln won election, that went out the door. All the South was waiting for was another
